Today’s kingdom episode….????!!!!!!!!!! This new ED…………………

you have to just watch the video, screenshots aren’t enough to do it justice!! kingdom has a long history of silly EDs such that you really never know what you’re going to get but this one takes the cake. This is HIS season and they’re not fucking around, even the eyecatch title card is purple now lol

new op is also an absolute treat (the shin vs batei fight sequence..!) as well as an enthusiastic reminder that shin’s really in it now, hang in there baby, you have no idea how bad it’s going to get <3

^ man who’s definitely going to be able protect that image of a great general, lol. In the episode proper he’s already taking Ls of course, but kyou kai is on top of her game, holding a firm moral stance, and looking extremely cute in every single frame she’s in:

babyest girl who I love more than anything ;____; the moment where she decides to protect the villagers because she sees two sisters playing together…………… of course she’s also off to take an L though because this is koku you, the meanest campaign in the world (the new OP also has ryuu tou holding his guardian dolls :((((((((…)

as for adaptational housecleaning, my favourite little change in this batch of chapters is this image of the kan ki army’s commanders:

the manga panel doesn’t make room for the zenou or saki clans on the sides, but this one’s got miss io!!! :). important girl

there are a couple of little things in kei sha and ki sui’s conversations in the back half of the episode; this bit which adds some different framing..

the shot stays focused on ki sui as he’s talking to kei sha and then waiting for an answer, and then continues with kei sha in profile as he replies. a funny little balancing of their power dynamic..!

and then we get to the actual logistical changes. the stages of kei sha’s descent are shuffled around a little..

right after he tells off ki sui for giving him advice, there’s an added sequence where he receives another report about the zenou clan breaking through his reserves (and smirks about it, of course), and then after moving over to rai do and kan ki for a bit we lose this page:

in favour of concealing the fact that he’s come down the hill until after gaku ei’s had his chance to monologue at team kan ki for a while. he’s really starting to make his big moves, certainly it’s hard not to think about ba tei’s line about victory going to the general who succeeds best at tricking his opponent & its.. future implications…
