Hiii and in the spirit of the Wild West ...
Can I get some Amber DLV and bandita Shelly ? as a ship, I mean 🥺 I hc that Amber DLV kinda wants to be evil too to impress bandita Shelly but she ... she honestly can’t figure out how to do quite. She’s just lovestruck ,,,,
You SURE can! I used a bit along the lines of your adorable headcanon here- with added self pressure of course :D- but enough spoilers and more writings, am I right?? I'll either follow up on this one or.... ;)
One last thing- I promise I'm working on the other drabbles! I'm switching around on them so I don't get bored. So if you're waiting on to be filled, rest assured it's on its way :)! This isnt a callout btw, just fyi. Anyway! vvv

🔥~ Gun Fire~ 💢
Shelly sat at her post at the edge of camp, bundled up and alert. It was still. The quiet night was solace to her. Her shift was around halfway done, but she didn't care too much for that. The stars were her favorite sight, and solitude was her favorite state. The wind blew, and her loose black hair gently moved to it.
Then, there was a crunch. Her eye snapped open to that noise's direction. In a flash, the blanket wrapped around her was thrown to the side. Her shotgun was aimed steadily into the dark. She glared to keep track of any sort of movement.
On the other side of the barrel aim, Amber had thrown herself behind a cactus. She cursed her own typical klutzy moves. Of all the sand in this desert, she just HAD to step on the single patch of dry grass around here, didn't she?
She hoped the plant was enough to keep herself from showing and she carefully maneuvered to peek around the cactus.
Near instantly, a shot whizzed past her and she ducked back to her cover.
Okay change of plan. Not that she had thought ahead, in retrospect. Amber frowned, feeling frustrated with herself. What did she even think would happen?
Amber unsheathed her rapier, and held it out. There was no shot this time.
Shelly kept a close eye as whoever it was waited a few seconds before standing and peering into view. She glared suspiciously as the figure stepped all the way out from cover.
Oh... it was that fiery gal from the last town. Her flashy clothes and memorable hair proved that. The one blessed by the fabled Lantern God or whatever the rumors were.
The woman sheathed her sword, held her hands lightly raised, and began to walk towards Shelly. The Bandit didn't waver in her aim, but didn't make a move to shoot either.
"That's close enough." Shelly prompted sternly, "What do you want?"
"Um...My name is Amber," she said, "I have a few questions."
"Does this look like a schoolhouse to you?" Shelly asked her, but there was less anger in her voice.
"Why did you join this gang?" Amber asked.
Shelly scoffed. "Ha. Are you going to try to get me to leave it? Give a speech that there's a better road for me to take?"
"no...can i join?" Amber squeaked out in such a small voice.
Shelly honestly found that to be the funniest thing she's heard so far- the tone, the context, everything!
Despite herself, she laughed and laughed with no restraints.
Amber reddened, upset. She stared down the woman in hysterics. "What!?" She demanded.
Shelly's shotgun was lowered, and she had her other hand to her face. Once she calmed down enough, she answered. "God. Didn't you just hear yourself? Look. I don't know what's going through your mind, but you wouldn't make it a day in this gang. This lifestyle, really. Back in town, you were spewing on about victory and justice shit. You really believe that, don't you?"
Amber stayed silent in contemplation. Her upbringing has all but been about heroics, hope and the 'Flame of Justice.' Heck, she even uses a rapier because she hates the sound guns make for a reason...
"Why did you join?..." she mumbled again.
Shelly's expression was annoyance. What do you care for? Just run off home where it's safe and wait for the next band of thieves to come along so you can play hero again, fire princess.
For some reason, these biting words died on her tongue. She shrugged. "It was the best option for me." Shelly could recall her first meeting with Belle almost fondly. She definitely could not imagine this softie being able to handle anyone's attitude in this group. They got along for the most part, but the variables were extreme.
"Look." Shelly made up her mind. "Just go back. The Goldarm Gang isn't as glamorous as you're thinking it is. Your town depends on you, don't they? Even if we made off with gold, you... did a good job." Shelly admitted, looking aside. "Nobody got hurt because of you, and hell, you got me to back off at one point."
Amber was flustered. The statement didn't sound mocking, even if still very terse. "I did?" She asked.
"You only lucked out because of that damned fire. Ms. Gift from the Lanterns." She defended sharply. It was a sore spot with her. She could recall.. the smoke, the heat from that night...
Despite that biting comment, Amber smiled. Her face felt warm. (Well, as always. But this was different..) "I'll go back... What was your name?"
Shelly scowled at her. What was with all these questions. Yet again, however, she didn't say her first choice. "Shelly." She said. It didn't matter. They'd never see each other again. That made her feel better, for sure.
"Thank you, Shelly... I..." Amber said, starting to fidget with her braid. God, she had just wanted to be able to talk to someone about her role, and while encouragement came in the unlikeliest way, she still had an urge to spill everything on her mind. "Thank you." She simply repeated, deciding against it.
Shelly nodded. "You should get going. If anyone comes by, I'm not hesitating to shoot."
Amber nodded. That was.. fair, kind of. "Bye, Shelly." She said as she departed.
"Don't step on dry grass next time." She said as she waved back. She heard a couple of tell-tale crunches.
Shelly exhaled and looked back to her post. The air was back to being on the cold side as the Firestarter left. She shivered, realizing how warm she had been.
...How disappointing.
