I agree with you so much, ur so right in saying this

for a few weeks now, I've been talking with some friends about how Ult could have a tragic backstory (mostly on discord with some friends who r HUGE Ult fans, one even being the admin of the Ult rp blog) so I genuinely keep forgetting that isn't confirmed canon 😭 everything in my traitor theory post was also going off the idea he had a difficult past too ajdhdjd

but while both could be true at once, I think Ult having a very tragic backstory is actually more likely in canon than him being a traitor, it's an extremely strong possibility for him and most of the things I brought up in my Ult traitor theory post could also hint at him having a tragic backstory, especially that scene/those lyrics in the intro

one of my friends on discord ( @rainbowangel110 ) said they think Ult is a homeless kid who latched into Roy because he was kind to him once and I think that's a really interesting idea which feels in character for both of them

personally, I don't think Ult was shown much genuine love/kindness in the past until he met Roy, which is why he's so upset whenever Roy abandons him, because that's the first person who ever treated him like a person who matters and he just keeps leaving like it's nothing (because he doesn't know how important he is to Ult, probably because Ult's way of showing love is through Being Annoying)

Ult follows Roy around for a reason, he wants to be his friend, to travel with him, work towards their shared goal together.. he also seems to want Roy's approval that he's allowed to have that same goal as him as we see him get angry when Roy implies Ult doesn't have his own goals because they're the same as his

and the reasonings for all that could definitely be rooted in Ult having a sad/tragic backstory

also unless you're in the Likodot discord server you probably wouldn't know this, but I love Roy and Ult's dynamic so much and genuinely I'm so excited to see more of it as the series goes on, they could be really silly or really angsty and I'm SO here for it

like don't get me wrong they clearly care a lot about each other but I can smell the miscommunication issues through the screen LOL

honestly though, I'll be happy with anything they do with his character arc and backstory as long as it's well written and fits him :)

theories are just for fun, I'm here to enjoy the series wherever it takes us
