augh yeah as much as i do love the parts of COS that are very obviously trying to do something competent and genuine, the amestris parts are just so ????
ill be honest, im pretty sure i blocked those scenes out, so remembering that what happened on the amestris side is. yikes
definitely wish the movie was more focused and didnt try to add as much as it did. especially roy -- i dont mind the beginning, hell i think him exiling himself to the north is a good concept, but the fact that he takes back his position (iirc) is just. so are we throwing away the character development and him realizing that he CANT change the military from the inside or what.
in general i honestly wanted to see less of the military cast. they frankly dont have much reason to be there other than the fact people wanted to see them (esp armstrong... just. WHY). im sure there are still ways to work in roy if the creators really wanted him to be there but like. idk! they sure didnt have to do it like that! we couldve spent more time on exploring noah as a character. or let izumi die on screen. sigh
been a while since i rewatched COS but thanks for pointing out all the weird stuff, i'd almost forgotten it and i honestly shouldn't.
(and of course i have to say i love your posts on the series proper. i will never be normal about scar. ever)
the second i saw roy in there i was like why is roy still in the military at all. wasn't his whole arc about realizing that he can't do shit within the military because it is an institution built on atrocities and exploitation? why is he still in it then. why is he talking about serving his country. why's he talking about waiting for ED that makes no fucking SENSE. (why is he alive. someone said they thought roy was supposed to die by the end of 03 but they kept him alive bc he's a fan fave and i wholly believe this frankly). why is the country's military still seemingly intact with a whole surveillance network, when 03 ended on the military being severely crippled and amestris's neighbours getting ready to invade it and bring it to its knees? why are we literally seeing *the fucking weimar republic* in cos only for amestris to not parallel it in any way and instead be the brotherhood-type funland where once you've taken out the mean führer, everything is fine and there's nothing to fix?
and like. this is a short movie right! i know that they were denied a season, maybe even a season and a half to finish off the show and that some elements of cos were meant to be in the og show's ending. and it shows! bc again munich is fucking reasonably competent considering how much is crammed in on hour thirty. and i know that cos's production was also rushed as hell and that as an Anime Movie they were contractually obligated to 1) put as many recurring fan faves in as possible 2) have at least a third of the movie be a big action scene. so like. i can understand the limits. you have no time, you're told you have to put all this shit in, you want to finish off the brothers' story at the very least. but my gd! you're telling me you had an izumi death scene and it doesn't happen??? you could cut roy out ENTIRELY from this. you could not put ARMSTRONG IN LIORE. you could..... i know they had no time at all, i know once again it was 03 being shafted by production committees and time and budget but it's legit insane how the very stupid and seemingly innocuous choice of having armstrong "rebuild" liore comedically completely slapped me out of whatever headspace cos had managed to slip me in before. i was enjoying it a lot until we got to amestris. and this armstrong thing, followed by rose's line here:
Tumblr media
it's just. it's almost comedic. i'm almost wondering if the writer is fucking with me here and acknowledging just how stupid it is to put armstrong doing alchemy in liore is. probably not but gd this is bad. this is brotherhood levels of obliviousness to the themes.
anyhow i'm not finishing cos tonight bc i'm too pissed about it lol. it's funny bc for years i was told it was bad but for the opposite reasons that it's actually bad. like folks kept saying the munich parts were bad/stupid/wrong and made no sense when to me they're by far the most thematically coherent and interesting/emotional bits of it. i LOVE the relationship between noah and ed. and like, i know the bar is is in hell when it comes to depicting roma on screen, but i can't help but appreciate the little and big ways both noah and her people get humanized, how they feel like the most real and concrete part of this world ed insists is a dream or hell. but really, genuinely noah is so good, alfons's weird crush on ed is hysterical, the general atmosphere and research around 1923 munich seems genuinely thoughtful (and it also tells me that the writers had been thinking about this long, long before even 03 ended). i genuinely believe that making munich! hugues a nazi sympathizer and a racist is a really inspired and brave choice that makes the audience reflects THEIR hugues and how the amestrian military behaved. so anyhow these parts are good, genuinely. it's sad that that's the first third and then you get thrown into this mess, and there's still a whole stupid nazi battle to come. it's stupid. it's stupid especially bc there's a genuine part of the movie that IS smart and thoughtful. it'd be so much easier if all of it were bad, or if the difference between the writing in each part weren't so obvious. anyhow. i wanna finish cos bc i wanna see wrath's arc end and envy eating hoheinheim and ed/al reunion and more of noah. but also i think i'm gonna be writing off large chunks of it lol.
(also thank you very much, i'm trying to preach 03 to whoever i can whenever i can. appreciate the love)

rare ame long post but i wanted to break the news that i've started reading higurashi! yeah, after umineko, don't hate me
i wasn't really interested in higurashi prior to reading Umineko, and now I'm diving in completely spoiler-free aside from the obvious things that Umineko implies or explicitly says anyway i finished onikakushi yesterday and i loved it, the tension was there every single fucking second and i felt the whole times the same vibes i loved from legend of the golden witch, it was really cool
and... well, as i said, i don't know ANYTHING at all about higurashi or its plot. maybe i'm reading too much between lines but this first episode sort of felt like... a metaphor for trust and communication? i KNOW i'm probably overthinking it but the way keiichi constantly doubts between trusting his friends or his guts, and the constant switches we get among Rena and Mion... it really surprised me how the biggest thing i felt reading onikakushi was not tension or fear... it was sadness
sadness because it was so fucking clear how keiichi hated every second of being mean to his friends... and the moments between him and his friends when everything was normal were so... devastating to watch. i've honestly would've succumbed to just asking them, really, hence my point about the theme of trust. i feel like it sort of has some undertone about how things need to be talked and problems shouldn't be ignored
but whatever, i'm probably reading too much into it i'll leave the reading for when i begin episode 2: watanagashi!

chapter twelve - “it’s hovercraft time, bucky barnes”
delicate masterlist
word count: 2.4k
synopsis: neither bucky nor y/n can sleep... until they do. and the next day brings them an unexpected, but pleasant surprise.
pairings: bucky barnes x fem!reader
Tumblr media
It was four in the morning when the psychologist and the super soldier got in their respective beds after the nightmare. Y/N laid on her side in the bunk across from Bucky, facing away from him and staring at the wall. Her body wanted to sleep but her mind kept whirring on and on, worrying about him.
It wouldn't be that bad if she could just ignore it. It wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't wide awake also thinking about how it would be utterly impossible for him to have any eye color other than blue.
She sighed. Christ almighty, just go to sleep.
About twenty minutes passed before she heard it.
"Why are you still up?" he mumbled.
She turned over to her other side, dramatically, staring at his silhouette in the dark.
"How could you possibly know that?"
"I'm a trained assassin," he said, as a matter of fact. "I can recognize breath patterns."
"Yeah, well I know for a fact that you aren't even trying to fall back asleep."
"How could you possibly know that?" he repeated her question.
"I just do," she stated before turning on her back and staring straight up.
He scoffed playfully.
"What?" she asked.
Her tone wasn't as playful. It wasn't angry or annoyed; she could never be with him. But, it was void of emotion and her usual sarcastic cadence. She didn't enjoy people reading her like that. She knew he wasn't, but it felt like she was being called out for caring so much. She wanted to rein in her own compassion, but she couldn't help the way he softened her.
"That's just code for 'I'm a trained psychologist and I know how you're gonna react to nightmares.'"
She replied with silence, desperately trying to end the conversation so she could try to sleep and leave this night behind.
"Sorry, did I- did I say something?" he asked.
"No, you're good."
Part of her felt bad for being short with him, but she needed it to be over. She needed to somehow distance herself from her own feelings.
"I'm sorry if I woke you up with the nightmare and messed with you being able to fall back asleep. I know it's... a lot."
He's sorry. He's sorry?
"Don't you dare apologize. It's not your fault, and it's not even why I can't fall back asleep."
"What's the problem then?"
"It's nothing. Just try and get some sleep."
"Yeah... about that..."
"Will you have another?"
"Not  sure. I don't wanna find out."
"I know. And I'm sorry. Sleep shouldn't be this menacing, but you should still try anyway. Your body needs it."
"So does yours."
Y/N let out an exasperated sigh. There she went caring again and he kept deflecting. Her frustrations about her own emotions came out in stubborn defiance.
"I'm not sleeping until you do."
"Guess we're both stayin' up then."
"Bucky," she gently admonished.
"Y/N I can't- that... was the worst one I've had in a while."
That was it. Any and all aggravation faded to nothing, and her cheeks were hot with guilt. To hell with it; she refused to leave him to pain. She then got out of her bunk. Carefully, she maneuvered out and kneeled on the floor, facing him. She felt bad; she didn't mean to push him.
"I'm sorry," she whispered. "I'm sorry, I should know better."
He mirrored her actions, slipping out of his own bunk and kneeling on the floor in front of her
"It's okay," he didn't miss a beat. His voice was as soft of hers. "Thank you."
He was closer now, so she could see a more detailed outline of him. She never really noticed just how large he was. Just his arm looked as big as her head. He was supposed to look frightening, but... she just couldn't see it.
"If you don't wanna sleep that's okay. I'll stay up with you so you don't have to be alone."
"Y/N..."
"I'm already up, I don't mind," she countered. "Seriously. I'm wide awake now. Honestly, I don't even know if I could fall back asleep if I tried."
"I can't ask you to stay up and babysit just 'cause you feel bad."
She scooted forward, determined not to lose to deflection again. Babysit? and Cause you feel bad? How could he truly think so little of himself?
"I am definitely not babysitting. I just happened to be awake at the same time you are... and not because I feel bad."
He scooted forward a couple inches, squinting, trying to decipher her facial expressions. "I can't tell if you're joking or not just from your tone of voice."
In the very back of her head it returned: that hazy enchantment feeling that swelled from her lungs through her brain stem every time she was this close to him. It is important to note - it was in the very back of her brain, and if you ignore something long enough, you can convince yourself it's not there.
"James Buchanan, I am awake and there's not a thing you can do about it."
"Alright," he sighed. "I don't know if you're expecting some kind of entertainment, but I can't really juggle with one arm..."
"I can't juggle with two."
"Ever been to the circus?"
"No."
He laughed. "Oh man, you're missin' out."
"No, I got the clown right here."
"Wow, is that how it is?"
"Depends. You got face paint and a rainbow wig?"
"Smartass."
The air was quiet after their breathy laughs fizzled out. A few moments of awkwardness quietly passed, both unsure of what to say next.
"You know when you're in the dark, your pupils dilate to take in as much light as they can in order to see better?" Y/N asked.
"I think I knew that? I'm not sure, I might've heard it somewhere. Why do you ask?"
"I don't know. I can't see your face super well, so it made me think of it. I can barely even see your eyes."
"Maybe that's better," he chuckled. "I don't know if they're still blood shot from earlier."
"Like I'd care."
"Why wouldn't you?"
"What?"
"Why wouldn't you care? I feel like seeing someone's puffy face and post-cry eyes would be kinda gross."
"You really think I care if your eyes are red or puffy?" she questioned. "Buck, I know I'm probably not supposed to say this because technically I'm your doctor, but I honestly consider you a really good friend. I'd be more worried to see that you've been crying than be aversive to it."
He scoffed in honest disbelief.
"What?"
"I just can't wrap my head around the fact that you think that way about me..."
"What do you mean?"
"...the person I am, the things I've done, the..." he shook his head, "the horrors I've committed..."
"The horrors you've committed are not who you are. I know you see yourself in a lot of different ways because it's hard to un-learn what other people have decided you are: a monster, a ghost, an asset, a machine, an assassin, a weapon, whatever. But have you ever considered that you're just human after all? You're a man who got dealt a shit hand in life. But there is still light in him... light that never left, no matter how hard they tried to beat it out of you. You're a survivor, Buck."
Bucky took a deep breath in, contemplating, before turning and laying on his back. They both remained on the floor, Y/N kneeling a few inches away from the side of Bucky's supine figure. He stared straight up at the ceiling.
"Sometimes I think I'm a better 'ghost' than I am a human being. My mind's a mess, and even though I'm trying, I still can't help but feel like I've lost who I am."
"You haven't lost who you are. You're just different now, and that's okay."
He looked up at her. "How do you always know what to say?"
"I know everything."
Y/N smiled, following Bucky's laugh, allowing the somber atmosphere to lighten up a bit. They so easily slipped in and out of the therapy dynamic, but now it seemed more like a heartfelt conversation between friends rather than treatment between doctor and patient.
"I consider you a really good friend too by the way - closest one I've had since Steve."
"Wow, really? That's an honor."
"Not really," he chuckled. "Steve's a punk."
And there she went laughing again. In one way or another she always found herself laughing around him.
However, she found it more confusing than funny when she woke up the following morning to find herself sitting on the floor, leaning against one of the beds with Bucky's head in her lap. She found her hands resting on his head protectively, fingers slightly carded through his long hair. She woke up before him... That's a first.
Y/N looked down at him. He was fast asleep; he looked peaceful and so relaxed. It was such a rare state to see him in, so she gave herself a few more seconds to study how his face looked when it was completely tranquil before she smoothed her hand along the back of his head and replaced her lap with a pillow.
-
"Hey," a raspy voice called out.
Y/N turned around from her seat at the table, hands still wrapped around the cup of tea she made herself a few minutes prior.
Bucky was awake, sitting up, but still in his previous spot on the floor.
"Hey. You want some tea?"
He stood up, nodding and stretching his back. "Did I fall back asleep?"
"You did," she smiled. "I'm pleased. I told you you needed the rest."
He seemed pleasantly surprised. "And on the floor too. Very classy."
She raised her mug to him, as if to make a toast. "Classiest man I know."
He laughed before grabbing the kettle and realizing it was empty.
"Shoot. We're outta water."
"It's alright. We know where to find the waterfall. You want to go get more?"
"Mm hm."
"Alright, I'll just finish my tea and go out in a few minutes."
"Don't be ridiculous. I'm coming too."
"You sure? You just woke up. You can take some time to just relax if you want."
"No. I'm going."
"Stubborn. I can go myself, you know. I know the way."
"Would you let me go by myself?"
Y/N was silent for a moment before sighing.
"Get your shoes."
-
"You know, there was really no reason to almost push me into the water," Bucky commented as they were making their way back to the shelter after restocking their water supply.
"I wasn't actually going to!"
"You might as well have! My life flashed before my eyes!"
"Bet that took forever. You wanna backtrack? I can do it for real this time."
"I'm throwin' you in next time."
"You couldn't throw me," she challenged.
"Like a football," he countered, smirking.
"I don't wanna test that theory."
Their banter continued as they continued walking, making sure they were in the tree line and not out in the open. Bucky was always cautious. He was able to laugh with her while still making sure they were safe. That was until his arm was suddenly around the front of her shoulders, and holding her against his chest as his back was flush against a tree, effectively hiding them both from sight. She just stared forward, barely registering how fast he swiveled both of them around.
"There's someone at the bunker. I'm sorry- didn't want us to be seen."
He removed his arm, but her feet were stuck. She had never been close to him like this before; she didn't know what to think of it. She stepped forward a bit, breaking the contact but still facing away from him. She was hyperaware of their proximity but that quickly dissipated as she registered what he said.
"What did you see?"
"There were a couple people, but I didn't get a great look 'cause I moved out of sight fast. One woman, two men? I think."
His tone and demeanor reminded her of that day Shuri told them they had to go in hiding. He was so calm and collected. She forgot situations like these were practically muscle memory to him.
"Do you think someone found us? What were they doing?"
"I only saw 'em for a second, I'm not sure. Stay still, I'm gonna look."
As soon as his head peaked around the tree, so did Y/N's, ignoring his order.
"Wait, I think that's Shuri."
"Are you sure?"
"Pretty sure. I don't know if I'd bet my life on it."
"What's that other thing?"
"The hovercraft?"
"Hovercraft? God, I love this place."
"Wait, see the crest on the hovercraft - that's the one only Shuri can unlock."
"Alright, just... stay behind me. Okay?"
"Okay."
The two slowly made their way towards the three Wakandans. Y/N actually listened this time and stayed behind Bucky. As soon as they were in sight, Shuri came running up to them.
"Y/N!" she exclaimed, immediately throwing herself into the psychologist, embracing her.
She was startled at first, arms awkwardly hanging by her sides before her brain finally caught up to her and she brought her arms up lightly, returning the hug.
"Shuri! What happened?"
"We won!" Shuri grinned. "It's a long and complicated story, but the rightful King never died. My brother has reclaimed his place on the throne. Wakanda is ours once again!"
A monumental weight was lifted from Y/N's shoulders. She sighed in relief, knowing she was no longer in danger, knowing Bucky was no longer in danger.
"That's incredible. I'm so glad everything's okay, and I'm so glad to see you."
"I'm glad to see you too, my partner," Shuri hugged her once more before addressing Bucky. "Sergeant Barnes. I'm sorry for all the trouble. I hope everything was alright?"
"We've been getting along just fine," he nodded. "Thank you."
Shuri called over the two other men - royal guards that came with her - before turning back to Y/N and Bucky.
"You've been camped out here in hiding long enough. Let us go home."
As they walked behind the Wakandan princess, Y/N nudged Bucky with her elbow.
"It's hovercraft time, Bucky Barnes," she managed to say through a face numbing smile.

New Places, Friendly Faces (Sanny) Pt 1
Author (As known on Various sites): Lady Lover- Rockfic, Luluthechoosingcrow - AO3, theladylovingcrow - Deviantart and Wattpad, @sammy_bluebells - Instagram, @imacrowcawcaw - main Tumblr, @theladylovingcrow - writing/art Tumblr, @insannywestan - Sanny shipping Tumblr
Fandom: Greta Van Fleet
Pairing: Sam Kiszka/Danny Wagner (Sanny), lil bit of Danny/Ronnie but he's quickly swept away with Sam
Length: about 2k
Warnings/Tags: Alternate Universe, Diner AU, No band AU, fluff, some angst, awkwardness, first dates, you know the ones where person A's date is failing and person B comes and sits with them, sorry i forgot what its called but that, hand holding, flirting, Sanny
Summary: Danny was nervous; he had been building up the courage for *weeks* to arrange a date, and now.... He wasn't quite sure what to think of the situation he found himself in. The night certainly wasn't going as he had expected it to - and his emotions had never ridden a roller coaster this fast. Hell, the beautiful angel holding his hand wasn't even the one he had arranged to meet 2 hours ago.
Author's Notes: I don't know what inspired me to do this but I'm very very happy with how it's turning out (and I've never written a longer-ish multi chapter story before, so this is interesting!) I would hate for Danny to not know the Kiszkas growing up, but hey I think I made their first meeting pretty damn cute!
Also, just FYI this is set roughly in late January of whatever year, so the twins are supposed to be 20, Ronnie is 18 I think, Danny just turned 18, and Sam is 17 (I think I did all the math right but idk) HOWEVER it wasn't until I finished that I realized I absolutely did not make their appearances congruent with what they would have looked like then.... Sam and Danny look like 2018 ish but the twins also look like their high school selves :( Idk sorry
Also, because Sam is 17, this will not be posted on Rockfic and will be marked as underage, though I'm not planning for it to get dirty
---------------
Danny had been taping his foot for the past fifteen minutes.
He usually didn't do that, it wasn't his nervous tick of non-choice, but Michelle hadn't showed up yet, and it was nearing eight.
Checking his watch, Danny watched the hand tick to 7:58 and then looked up, peering around the restaurant he was in.
Diner, he corrected himself. It was a homey, 1960's American diner, a little more exposed timbers and bear carvings than checkered tiles and jukeboxes, but that's what you got in Michigan. The building was low and sturdy, a log structure with a river rock chimney over the grills in back. Every single wall was decorated with various signed pictures of celebrities that had passed through, local newspaper articles about Gerald and Fern's Homestyle Grill, old handsaws, vintage pop signs, and a million other trinkets and posters chosen by the owners (Gerald and Fern, he assumed, though they'd probably passed on considering how old the place looked to be).
It was a nice restaurant, Danny thought; the atmosphere was welcoming and calm despite the occasional clamor from the kitchen, and the decor was very interesting to look at. Plus, the waitress that had directed him to a window booth and brought him some water was just gorgeous.
'Don't think that! You're on a date, idiot' Danny scolded himself,  shaking his head. Well, he was technically waiting for the date to start, seeing as she hadn't showed up yet. But, he still shouldn't be admiring another girl like that when his wasn't there - that would just make him an asshole.
But maybe Michelle was a little bit of an asshole because she said she'd meet him at 7 o'clock and it was now 8:06- 'Stop. It.' Danny scolded himself again, mentally smacking himself upside the head.
'Didn't your mother ever tell you to assume the best of people?' One voice asked.
'Of course!' Another Danny answered.
'Well, then, she probably got stuck in traffic, or her dog threw up in her car, or she hit a bad pothole, or her mom made her go to the store, or-'
'Okay, I get it! She probably doesn't mean to be so late,' Danny conceded, concluding the conversation he was having with himself. Maybe the waitress was right and he had been sitting there by himself for a little too long.
Of course, being the nice girl she was, the waitress - Ronnie her name was Ronnie - had stopped by periodically whenever she had a minute to chat with him or finally bring him some coffee after he had given in to the craving.
Danny looked down at the small bouquet wilting on the table and sighed. Looked like this date was a bust, just like the few others he'd attempted, and he'd actually been very excited to see her. In fact, it was Michelle who had suggested this Gerald's Grill when he had shyly asked her out in Biology.
He had finally made up his mind to just stop wasting Ronnie's time and go home when a group of boys came trouping in, wet from the snow but in exuberant spirits and, apparently, "In great need of some refreshment, Ronnie dear!"
That made him want to pack up and get out even faster because, honestly, he didn't need any more knowing looks or judgement right now, but the last boy to walk in made him freeze with his coat halfway on.
The kid looked about Danny's age, roughly the same height but a whole lot skinnier. He had on skin tight jeans, scuffed hiking boots, and a red woolen coat. When he turned to talk to Ronnie, Danny could see the Tom Petty hoodie beneath the jacket and some silver necklaces.
'Nice,' he thought, 'seems like a cool guy: good taste in music and fashion.'
Also, 'Fucking gorgeous'.
What made him pause his leaving, though, wasnt the guy's body but his face - his sculpted brows, insanely high cheekbones, pink lips, and long lashes; all framed by the healthiest looking head of hair Danny had ever seen, second only to his own, or possibly one of the guy's he had come in with (the one who yelled for Ronnie) that had rather impressive, long curls styled to look like 70's mutton chops. There was something naggingly familiar about his features, but Danny couldn't place it.
Ronnie rolled her eyes and pointed the group of boys to a large table in the Eastern corner of the diner.
She snagged some menus and followed behind them, though another guy, this one also with long hair (he was having some competition here) grown out Justin Beiber style (okay, maybe not) said; "We don't need those, Ronnie, I'm pretty sure Sammy here has the whole menu memorized by now. Right, Sam-a-lam-a?"
The intruiging boy nodded, starting to recite off what sounded like a very accurate, detailed account of the diner's menu, prices and everything. Danny was surprised at the slight raspy, smokers quality of his voice, but it was pleasant, in a way.
After the fourth item or so, Ronnie stopped "Sammy" with a swat to the shoulder, shaking her heading and muttering "stupid genius" under her breath. He grinned up at her, wiggling his eyebrows and asking for a round of Vernors, pretty please, Ronnie-kins.
Holy shit, they were siblings! That's what had been buzzing at the back of his head for the past couple minutes; those mouths and cheekbones, seductive eyes, that lovely hair. The guy was Ronnie's brother (and no wonder he was so beautiful then).
Squinting, Danny watched the party in the corner. Two of the other guys, 70's hair and Justin Beiber (though he felt bad calling him that since he seemed cool and, hey, he'd  had the same 'do when trying to grow his out) were laughing at something Ronnie said, leaning on each other and behaving the exact same way, down to their blinks.
Twins! Danny could tell because he had two cousins, also twins, that acted exactly like that. Wait, though.... they looked awfully similar to-
More siblings?! Jesus, how many kids did this family have? He hoped the four were all, for the sake of their parents.
He guessed that the twins were a little older, so either "Sammy" or Ronnie had to be the youngest, though they all looked awfully similar in age.
'Seriously, how do their parents handle that?' Especially with the attractive, flirty twins, beautiful daughter, and the super smart supermodel - it had to be several handfuls raising a house like that. Danny suddenly felt a bit more sympathy for his parents, even with just having to deal with him and his little sister.
Ronnie sashayed away, calling over her shoulder for the boys to keep it down. They all hooted and hollered in response, seeing as Danny was the only other patron to bother at the moment.
Danny slowly sat back down, curious as to what interesting conversations he would hear from the group. The twin with curly hair was currently talking to a larger guy on the other side of the table about the "carefully curated sensuality" of Led Zeppelin's Prescence, which alone made him want to stay.
Not to mention, he could continue to observe the hot guy that was immediately fascinating him like few people did. Danny wasn't deluded enough to think it was love at first sight - though it was definitely a fair amount of lust - but there was something about the other boy that made him want to track his every move down to the blinking of his eyes.
"Woah there, creepy much? Chill out, he probably doesn't even like guys anyways," Danny muttered to himself, hoping that his staring wasn't obvious enough to make "Sammy" aware of it. He loved to people watch - and admire, but hated the uncomfortable confrontation of acknowledging that he had been doing so.
Supermodel boy twisted in his chair, looking at one of the many things on the wall - though it made Danny's breath catch because, could he tell? - when he caught Danny's eye. He smiled at Danny, making him smile a little tightly and nod in return.
At that moment, Ronnie came out of the back with a platter of glass pop bottles and a notebook tucked into her apron pocket, using her hip to close the swinging half-door to the area behind the counter. She smiled at Danny as he passed, murmuring a soft "I'll be right back with you," before continuing on to her brothers' table.
Gorgeous boy laughed - a surprisingly obnoxious, though maybe endearing, braying one - and reached out a fine boned hand, plucking a bottle from the tray before she could set it down. He took a long swallow, throat visibly working and eyes half closed, head tipped back. Danny quickly averted his own eyes unless he started drooling onto the tabletop.
Ronnie came over to him after a minute, refilling his coffee and insisting that she get him a piece of pie, on the house. He didn't have the heart to tell her no, not after more than an hour of sitting there pitifully, and especially not now that he knew her gorgeous brothers (or at least one of them, the prettiest, too) knew he was there. It would be incredibly embarrassing for them to know that he was stood up and alone; Danny wanted to give off a good impression, for some reason.
Ronnie walked away again, hips swaying, and disappeared into the back. "Sammy" laughed at the table in the corner and Danny's eyes shot to him, watching how he played with his straw between those two pillowy lips.
He started sweating a little bit, considering who he thought was more attractive (not like either of them would be interested in him, but). Ronnie was curvy and kind and beautiful, but Sam was lean and charismatic and had the most lovely facial structure Danny had ever seen.
'Ugh, bisexual problems', Danny thought. No one else would have know what he was talking about if they were there, though, since he had never mentioned it to his parents nor his few friends.
He wondered, idly - because he really was out of their league and it would never, ever happen - what his family would think if he brought either of them home. Ronnie would be sure to elicit absolute delight from his mother after her admonishment for getting a girlfriend in the first place (despite the fact that he was allowed to do what he wanted now that he was 18, Danny's mom still saw him as her little boy). Ronnie's brother, he wasn't sure; it's not like they were homophobic, but Danny was certain that him bringing home a guy out of nowhere would be quite the shock.
They'd warm up to Sam (he didn't want to call him "Sammy"; it felt too familiar to he polite, though he did like that), he was sure. His parents would be impressed by his intelligence and be charmed by his jokes, and tell Danny that they were glad he had found such a nice boyfriend.
Danny drifted off into a daydream of what it would be like to date Sam, to take him to family holiday meals and go out hiking with him and cuddle up on a late winter afternoon like this one. He rested his head on his hand, letting his eyes go unfocused as he envisioned the imaginary world in which he had an 11/10 boyfriend.
"Hey, I've got your pie. Mind if I sit and eat mine with you?"

“Tell me if it's too much, okay?” He says as he opens up the little square packet in between his fingers. I just nod slowly, trying to look away. The longer I was around him, the less overwhelmed I felt. It wasn't much, but it was something, and I'd take anything at this point. Fainting in front of a stranger just wasn't an option. My eyes squinted slightly once I realized he was about to start. “I'll be gentle.” He smiled, the warmest, most inviting smile I'd ever seen. The concern that laced his eyes was still very much there. I questioned why he was so concerned, I was a stranger to him. Was it normal for someone to be worried about a stranger the way he was about me?
My thoughts stopped as I felt the wet wipe touch my elbow. The sting of the alcohol caused me to involuntarily yelp, which got us a suspicious glare from the clerk. “I'm sorry. I'm not usually this whimsical, I'm just a little out of it.” He giggled lightly at my comment. I wanted to feel embarrassed but I was feeling too comfortable in his presence. You'd think I'd be filled with liquid courage right now, but I wasn't. The scrape on my elbow was burning and I wasn't able to control myself. I wasn't sure why I was so out of it. Maybe the fact that I was tipsy, a little post-panic still running inside me, and this overwhelming feeling, filling my senses. I guess my body just didn't know how to react? It was being extra sensitive.
My head wouldn't stop spinning with questions however. It was just so confusing why this feeling was suddenly so strong? I mean, I usually felt it when I was alone. Yes, when I had been in unpleasant situations, the feeling came back. But after the situation was over the feeling would fade away again. Ever since this blonde guy came around though, it was much more stronger and overwhelming, and it wasn't going away. Back there, when he had asked me to walk away, I felt it fade slightly, but the second he appeared again it all came crashing back.
It was worse than the first week, it was like someone let the chains loose and everything hit me full force. Making the first week seem like a walk in the park. Was I going crazy? Or was he causing this? I must be crazy, because how could he cause this?
My thoughts were pushed back once I felt him place a bandaid on the scrape. I breathed in relief. “One more to go.” He cheers slightly, opening another disinfectant wipe, to which my eyes open wide. “What? I thought we were done!” He can only chuckle at my exasperated reaction. “The first one is always the worst, trust me.” He reaches for my arm, getting ready, disinfectant wipe in the other hand. “How would you know? Are you an expert? You must be part of the nursing department, do we go to school together?” I ask him, causing him to have an amused look on his face. “All done.” My eyes go wide, once again.
“I didn't even feel that. How'd you?” I take a look at my arm. It's all patched up. “I told you.” He smiles as he throws the garbage away. My breath seems to stabilize, the panic I had felt subsides as well. “You really didn’t have to do all this, even back there. Thank you, for everything.” I grabbed my purse as I told him, getting myself ready to leave.
“It was nothing, really. I may have overheard what was going on. I needed to make sure you were fine.” He shrugs it off, whatever the reason may be, I was thankful things didn’t escalate any further because of him. “Well, either way I’m grateful… I guess I’ll get going now.” I wave goodbye at him. As soon as I step out of the shelter that the drug store provided, the cold nights breeze came crashing against my body. Causing chills all over, I could only rub my arms to try and keep warm.
“Here, take my sweater.” I turned around to see him taking it off, leaving him in a plain white tee. “Oh no, you’ve already done so much. I couldn’t.” I shook my hands, insisting that it wasn’t necessary, but he wouldn’t budge. “Please, I’ll be fine.” He stretches his arm to me, waiting for me to take it. I give in after a second. “You really didn’t have to, thank you.” I quickly pulled it over my head and poked my arms through, indulging in its warmth. The scent of warm vanilla mixed with roses and lavender filled my senses. “I can walk you home if you don’t mind, just to make sure you get home safe.” He asks, but the fact that he’s walking with me already clues me in. I just nod in response. Besides, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still a bit worried that, that psycho from earlier would come back.
Just as we were closing up on my apartment complex, my phone rang. I really didn’t want to deal with anything now, everything that had happened had caused me a big enough headache, I didn’t need to add more. Didn’t even need to look at the caller id to know who it was. Contemplating whether I should answer it or not, my finger hovering over the answer button. “Maybe she’s worried about you.”
“Maybe, but knowing her, she probably just wants to know if I left the party with someone.” I rolled my eyes as I clicked the end button on Rae’s call, shoving my phone back in my purse. I’d call her, just not now. The rest of the short walk to my apartment was peaceful after that. There wasn’t any creeps lurking, no commotions of any sorts. Everything went smoothly, which put my wild thoughts to rest. The birds up in the trees chirping and the wind whistles helped a lot too, and as odd as I found it for a stranger to insist on making sure I was safe, I appreciated his concern. It's not like it wasn't nice for him to worry about me, or that a person shouldn't be concerned for another, for the simple fact that they're strangers. It was quite the opposite, I just never saw enough of that kindness. All the other times I got into altercations people just looked the other way, all I’m saying is I’m not use to such kindness. Maybe that’s why I found it so strange.
Finally, we made it to my apartment complex. I stopped in front of it to thank my rescuer one last time. “Well, this is me. I’m really thankful that you stepped in, I know you didn’t have to do all that. So, thank you, really.” I could only smile at him, as he shook his head at me. “Nonsense, I had to. What kind of person would I be if I just walked away.” He seemed like such a genuinely good guy, that, and the energy he radiated was so comforting. In contrast to that jerk from the party.
I was just about to turn around to leave when I remembered the sweater. I started to take it off but was stopped by him, “Keep it, it’ll keep you warm.” I wanted to protest that he’d need it more, he still had to walk home and I would be warm inside. However, he started to walk away from me and I figured it would be a waste of time. I just laughed it off, as I walked up to my apartment door. A few flights of stairs, and there I was, picking my lock. After a few tries it finally opened, letting me in to the warmth and familiarity of my apartment. “Oh, how I missed you!” I whispered to myself, in excitement as I locked my front door. As soon as I had I ran to my bedroom and jumped on my bed, indulging in its comfy embrace. It was good to be back.
The next morning started with the annoying vibration of my phone against my bed stand, causing me to shuffle around in my bed sheets. “Hello?” I answered it, voice semi groggy, causing me to clear my throat as I listened to the other end. “I know it’s your day off, but Sammy couldn’t make it to work. Is there anyway you can make it? I need you here at 8.” My boss’s voice came through too loud through the phone, causing a minor headache. Quickly, I checked the time on the screen, it was 7:20 now. I wished so desperately I could say no, but I needed this job. “I’ll be there soon.” I didn’t get a response from him, he’d hung up. A loud yell muffled by my pillow later and I was up.
I was supposed to have a stress free weekend, relax at home, eat yummy food. But no, instead I spent my Friday night getting forced into a party I didn’t want to be at, followed home by some creep. Thankfully rescued by the sweetest guy I’d ever come across, and now I’d have to work on my Saturday morning with half a hangover. Great.
Although, come to think of it, I never got that blonde guys name. Then again, he never asked for mine either. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see him again. His kindness had gotten me, so caring towards me even though we'd just met.
Not too long later, I had finished getting ready for work. I got my things ready and walked out. “Let’s do this.” I cheered myself on as I walked down the stairs. The cafe shop was relatively close, which was one of the benefits when I first got the job. I was thankful now more than ever, because I needed to be there soon. As close as it was though, the walk was longer than I had anticipated. Honestly, could he be mad at me? He called me on such short notice. Literally forty minutes before I had to be there. I managed though, arriving with five minutes to spare. “Oh, you're here, thank god. Ask Lauren to give you the list of the current orders.” My boss was quick to rush me into the kitchen. Being a barista was fun, occasionally. Not on days like today though, it was devastatingly busy. Too many people to count on my own hands and feet, even if I included my coworkers as well. “How'd we get so popular? You'd think the Starbucks across the street would be stealing all the customers.” I commented at Lauren, who laughed as she showed me the orders that were in place.
I started to make the drinks alongside her. We tried our best to finish quickly and efficiently. Which must have worked, because our tip jars were starting to fill twice as fast. “We make a great team, don't we y/n?” Lauren asked, giving me a high five as she walked by me, starting up a new drink. She wasn't wrong, we were doing great. It didn't take long for us to get the shop to slow down. Everyone had been helped and served. All but one. A young man, wearing a black leather jacket, that matched the pitch black shade of his hair, which fell perfectly over his forehead. As a matter of fact, his whole outfit was black. His eyes quickly glanced over our menu before he stood In front of the counter.
“What can I get for you today?” I kindly asked, smile spread on my face. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't felt an odd aura around him. I couldn't explain it even if I wanted to, it was something I never felt before. It was like there was a slight emptiness inside me, but somehow I was okay with that sudden vacancy. Like it could become addictive. “An iced Americano.” His words brought me out, but pushed me right back in once I saw his eyes. Intriguing, yes, but not in a pleasant way like I would have liked
“Yes, of course. It'll be three fifty.” I choked out, my mouth was starting to dry out. Making it hard for my words to come out. He handed me over the money, and I quickly placed his order. I ran back to the kitchen to make his drink, Lauren laughing at me, for a reason I didn't know yet. “What? Did I do something?” I ask her, completely oblivious to what was going on. That only made it funnier for her, causing a confused smile to spread across my face. “Haven't you seen a cute guy before? He got you all choked up and everything!” She started to laugh loudly again. I gave her a playful push, as I reached for a lid. “That's not what happened.” I glared at her, shaking my index at her, signaling a no. I walked over to the counter, calling out the drink.
The young man walked up and grabbed it. “Have a nice d-“ I was cut off by him placing something into the pocket of my apron, leaving me confused. “I’ll see you around.” He smiles at me before leaving, I watch his body disappear before turning back. Lauren is already holding back her laughter. “Are you okay? Did he tip you?” I can only shrug, it must have been what he placed in there, no? What else could it be? “It has to be, I don’t know what else he could have placed in there. Did he not see the tip jar? He didn’t have to do that.” I shake my head, he invaded my personal space, he was a customer. That wasn’t okay, besides his aura had me feeling odd.
I shrugged it off and got back to work. I figured he just wanted to make sure I’d be the one to keep the tip. Was my service that great? All I did was serve him an iced americano. He was probably just a generous tipper. The rest of the morning was busy, but not as busy as it was early on in the morning. I couldn’t help but wonder if Sammy was okay, or if he just wasn’t feeling work today, deciding not to come in. Either way, I envied him. These were supposed to be my days off, but here I was instead, covering for him. Which wouldn’t have been so bad, if it wasn’t as busy, but it was.
My eyes kept going back to the clock on the wall, counting the literal seconds until my shift was over. I couldn’t wait to go home and just relax. Finally, i was two mocha lattes and one caramel macchiato away from leaving. Smile on my lips, as I prepared the drinks. I couldn’t help the happiness I felt, knowing I was so close to being back home, buried in blankets. I finished the drinks and called them out, waiting for the customers to pick them up. Once they had, I walked back to clock out. “Thank the heavens, I’m going home!” I whispered to myself.
It was currently 4pm. The sun was still high up in the sky, as I walked out the back door, heading home. People were bustling around, probably because most of them had just gotten out of work, or picking up their children from school. I popped in my earphones, playing some music while I walked home. The cool breeze was relaxing as I shut off my thoughts and enjoyed the walk home. The sky was a light orange tint where the sun was, with elaborate shaped clouds that looked so soft. The green trees were a beautiful contrast against the sky. Aside from the noise of the cars, the atmosphere was peaceful.
I was so drowned in the setting, that I hadn't even noticed the loud car horn. By the time I heard it, the car was inches away from me, my heart stopping. The car was rushing towards me, from the corner of my eye, I noticed another car had crashed into its rear. I bid my goodbyes to this world in those last seconds, that moved in slow motion for me. I was ready to let go, not because I wanted to but because I knew I had to. My eyes shut close, not being able to bear seeing the end of my life. Or so I thought that's what would happen, but I felt someone else's body slam against mine, pushing me out of the way. The hit broke me out of my paralyzed state. I felt myself choke out a breath, breathing erratically. What had just happened?
I allowed my eyes to slowly open. Scared to see what the scene looked like. “Are you okay?” A familiar voice said from beside me. Just like last night, the feelings of warmth and comfort came crashing back. I tried my best to ignore it as I took in the totaled car that crashed against the cement wall that was being trapped by the truck behind it, equally as trashed. The drivers seemed to be badly injured. Disregarding the familiar voice asking if I was fine, I ran to the other side of the cars. The driver of the truck seemed to be gaining consciousness, but the woman in the car wasn’t moving. I quickly opened the door, pushing her body back by her shoulders, I was being careful not knowing how badly she was injured. “Hey? Can you hear me?” I asked her as I looked at her body, her shins were both bleeding, as the car had caved in on itself. Her forehead was bleeding as well. “Are you okay?” I asked again, reaching over to unbuckle her seat belt. I wasn’t sure what to do in this situation, but leaving her in the car didn’t seem like a good idea.
I gathered up all the strength in my body to carry her out, but I didn’t have to carry her for long. The familiar face from Friday night took her from me, placing her safely against the wall. Was he the one who pushed me out the way? He looked back at me after he made sure she was ok. “You never answered me, are you okay?” He asked me once again, coming closer. Were these feelings really attached to him? It couldn’t be, I felt these when I was alone too. So why was it so overwhelmingly prominent when he was around me? I couldn’t think straight because of all the different emotions going around inside me. “We, uh, should help him out too.” I gestured to the man in the truck.
I helped him bring the guy out, as soon as we had I called 911. I explained everything that had happened to them, to which they had said they’d send out help and I hung up. We waited for them to arrive after that, but the adrenaline that was in my body started to leave, and I started to feel a bit shaken up. “Hey, it’ll be alright. Don’t worry.” The blonde next to me reassured. He rubbed my back, comfortingly, and just like before, his presence had calmed me down. The rest of the time waiting was spent with me staring off into nothing, with my mind at a blank. It wasn’t long before the cops and ambulance arrived to the scene.
One cop pulled the two of us aside, asking us questions about the situation. The blonde guy was talking to the cop first, but I was so out of it that I didn’t hear a thing they said until the cop snapped his fingers at me. “Miss, are you alright?” He asks me, slowly I nodded at him. “She’s been like this for awhile now, I think she’s a bit shaken up.” He pats my back slowly, it’s as if he knows that his presence alone calms me down. “Yeah, I wouldn’t blame her, it’s quite a traumatic experience.” The cop is sympathetic with my current state. “Miss, I need to ask you some questions about the accident. Do you think you can do that?” I nod once again at him. I clear my throat, trying to get words out. The cop takes the cue and beckons another. “Do me a favor and get her some water.” He nods at him and rushes off. I take a look at the blonde beside me, he reassuringly smiles at me.
The cop started his inquiry, and I tried my best to answer him as accurately as possible. Awhile later, and the sun was starting to set, my watery eyes being dried out by the cool breeze. After the cop was done asking me questions, I was taking to the ambulance to get patched up. Shortly after I was allowed to leave.
“Would you like me to walk you home?” He asks me, as I start walking away from everything to go home. “Honestly, I would really appreciate that.” I nod, a small smile on my lips. I was just happy I didn’t have to go home alone.
“Thank you for saving me earlier, I really owe you my life. You’ve saved me twice now.” I’m telling him this as calmly as I can, but truth be told, I was still trembling. “Remember what I said before? I had to step in.” His words were laced with so much concern, and I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. On one hand I really appreciated it. He was so kind, and maybe that’s why he cared so much. “You know, I never got your name.” I took a second to look at him, how his hair was pushed back by the breeze, the way his eyes scanned the area in front on him. “I’m Jimin, and you?” He looked over at me too, his beautiful eyes staring back at mine. He had a kind of beauty I had never seen before. One that seemed like it didn’t belong to this world.
“I’m Y/n. It’s nice to officially meet you.” I was afraid that I’d run out of things to talk about, because I knew if I did I’d tear up, and this time I would cry. As if he sensed it, he started to make small talk with me. “Did you call your friend back. Rae, was it?” I’m surprised he’d remembered her name. I knew he’d read her name on my screen, I just didn’t think he’d care to remember. “Actually, I have not. I was so busy with work and now this, that I just haven’t had time.” He nodded, taking in the information.
“Well, just don’t keep her in the dark too long. She might worry, no?” He suggested, and I was sure Rae would worry if I ghosted her for the rest of the weekend. It would be a good idea to make time to call her. “Yeah, you’re probably right.” A sigh escaped my mouth, I was starting to feel tired. Thankfully the rest of the walk was peaceful, with him keeping me busy with his questions. I don’t think I could ever express how thankful I was towards him.
Finally, we arrived in front of my apartment complex. Just like the prior night, I stood in front of it, turning to face him. “Thank you for walking me home, and for saving me back there. I can’t tell you enough how much I am. I’m seriously in debt to you.” He shakes his head, he takes a step closer to me. “You don’t owe me anything, the fact that you’re still alive is enough.” He brushes back a strand of my hair. “Now go inside.” He turns me around and gives me a slight push. I shake my head, but continue walking. Every time I thanked him he brushed it off like it wasn’t anything big, as if it was his job to keep me safe. The rational side of me wanted to question it, but I just couldn’t find a reason to do so. No one had cared for me that way aside from Rae. Of course, my patents as well, but I was enjoying being cared about too much to question his motives. Rae had just recently come into my life. It wasn’t a feeling I was all that use to, and it was nice.
I ran up the stairs to my door, wanting to be in the comfort of my home. Desperately putting my key in and unlocking the door. I breathed relieved. My body leaned against the door once I had locked it again. I sighed loudly as I take my shoes off. As soon as I was away from Jimin I had felt the warmth leave too, making me feel the traumatic emotions of earlier again. Not knowing how I’d respond to the sudden feelings beginning to bubble up, I walked to my living room. A couple steps in and I collapsed on myself. Frantically breathing as I cried. Eyes shut closed, shaking hand over my mouth. Suddenly I felt myself inside the most inviting embrace. “It’ll be alright, you’re going to be okay.” Jimin’s voice spoke out to me.
I threw myself against him, holding onto him too desperately. “I thought I’d die! My life flashed before me, and I let myself accept death. I was ready for it…” I cried against his shoulder as he rubbed my back, soothing my pain.
“I’m here, I won’t let you get hurt. Ever.”

Out Of The Woods (3/?)
Tumblr media
This multi chap fic has been one that I've wanted to write for a while. I'm hoping to connect a few loose ends, since my series is getting closer to the end. Don't worry, I still got a couple of fics left in me. I'd love to thank @xerxezra whose conversations with me are always inspirational. I'd also like to thank @dorkydisappointment whose writing got my creative juice flowing and @hoodoo12 who continues to inspire me all the time. Please check out the wonderful art done by @ravenousscorpian for two scenes out of the second chapter of this fic (Her art found here)
References to the woman in Ricks journal is from my fic What You Found Amongst The Pages. I know, that was shameless self promotion. There are a lot of questions that I wanted to answer in you'd chapter, but for the sake of editing had to put it in the next. I'll work on it right as soon as this is posted. Thanks for everyone's continued support. 😘😘😘😘😘😘
If you haven't read part 1 or part2, then heres a link (Read Chapter 1, Chapter 2)
In this fic the reader tries to uncover the mystery of the artist behind Zeta-7s portrait.

Chapter 3: Dare Not Say That Man Forgets Sooner
Whatever redeeming qualities the room held in the previous happy hours were gone, and now even the remnant, lingering daydreams were falling away. With every hour you comprehended the severity of your assumptions and what the consequences were if you decided that enough was enough. Honestly, you didn't want to lose him because Zeta-7 was the light of your life; he expanded your universe and had helped you become a better person, but you could still carry on if you needed to. You had the means, your work, and an ever growing list of books to read, but was it enough, now that you had gotten a taste of the good life? Probably not.
Nothing made sense anymore.
Concerning the current situation, and all which led up to it; if you considered everything which included your existence, life till now, and all he had ever done, then there was no mistaking that he loved you; or had; at least thought he did, but it didn't change the truth of the matter; you hadn't been the first. A few hours had given you time to weep until you thought you had no tears left to cry, but there was still a thick fog over your thoughts and rationality; any shift of emotion being too much to bear. You curled into yourself, aching, hoping you'd disappear, but it didn't work; you were still here; stuck. Being at a disadvantage, not knowing how to get home and neither having a way to get there if you could was frustrating.
Who knows how long you'd been down here, despairing, wallowing in memories and dust, but you were tired, thirsty, and knew that if you didn't move he'd have trouble finding you, and yet you didn't care; let him find you; let him work for it. Though, how would that make it any better? All it would do is succeed in upsetting him before you knew all the facts. You hated this. Father always said hate was a strong word that shouldn't be taken for granted; you rarely had reason to feel as such, but the more you gleaned from those photos and the more proof you found of her presence about the place made you feel hateful and bitter.
Thinking of her smiling at him, receiving every bit of his loving-kindness and inviting demeanor animated by unaffected good-will; his general countenance and becoming familiar with a fresher-faced creature of your dreams; holding him; touching him; loving him. Oh God no, you thought, groaning into a handmade pillow. What was worse was that you couldn't dissuade the thought of her mysterious silhouette sneaking up behind you, plunging a knife into your already fragile identity, and taking back what was hers. Your doubt feeding these ugly horrors which were hybrids of nightmares and daydreams.
Though during a brief moment of clarity, you had come to a conclusion which hardly alleviated these feelings, but we're true; it wasn't your fault. Yes, it had been your choice to accept him and be in a proper relationship with someone with an ambiguous past, and yes you did snoop around a little, but you didn't know how much he'd been hiding or searching for someone like her and had settled on silly, stupid you. Yet, no matter how much you thought about it, why chase a vision of the past and put so much effort in the present? There must've been more to this; there had to be.
Manifested, unstinted kindness and consideration and love in his form didn't happen out of the blue, it was nurtured and conditioned. Had it been her influence which made you knew? Who knows, but you had been fortunate to have had an opportunity to associate let alone form a romantic attachment, but that would soon pass away once you confronted him. Right? After a little while longer, when your heart was finally beginning to slow and thought you'd be able to catch your breath, you heard him walking about upstairs; calling and knocking.
Rick was home and you turned over on the couch and covered your ears so you wouldn't hear him; you weren't ready to deal with this; you didn't want to deal with this. In your heart of hearts, you wanted to go home, to the past, back to when there were no problems and it was just you, dad, and your dreams. If only he was still around so that he could tell you that everything was alright and it was all just a bad dream and that he could fix it, but you couldn't; only in a dream, you could. Dad always knew what was best, but you were old enough to decide for yourself now.
Did this mean you wish you never knew Rick? No, but you wished that you would've never known about all this; about her; that you could've lived in ignorance. Oh, the sweet, sweet bliss of ignorance, how wonderful it had been while it lasted. Even when his warm laughter echoed down the stairway, having found you, ready, eager and excitable to be near you, you didn't answer. You knew you weren't in the state of mind to say anything nice, that despite it all he wasn't a bad person. Yet, the moment that hand of his touched your shoulder, you hissed. “Don't touch me.”
He gasped, stunned by this uncharacteristic aggression. Maybe you weren't the nice girl he thought you were after all; especially if the rustling of his clothes alone made you angry enough to dig your nails into the couch cushions. Zeta-7 waited for a few moments, ruminating on what would be the best course of action before he knelt down to be at your level and wondered. “What's wrong? Are y-y-you hurt? Is th-there anything I can do?”
Swallowing back a sob, you silently counted to ten then answered in a listless tone. “I don't know if you can. You've… you've been hiding stuff from me.”
“Huh, I-I have? What have I…”
“Don't try to deny it.”
Pushing yourself up, you rubbed your swollen eyes and chanced a look at him; your sight fuzzy as tears threatened to fall but thankfully didn't. The alarm in his widened eyes at the state of your runny nose, and tear-stained cheeks made him instinctively reach out to wipe your tears away, but you pushed that familiar, loving hand away. “M-mi corazón?”
Instead of answering as you usually would, you pulled out the well-loved copy of Persuasion from behind a pillow, took a deep breath and dropped it on his lap. “I found it while I was looking for something to read.”
“Oh geez.”
“And can you believe I found more than I bargained for.”
You two sat in silence for what felt like hours as he stared at it, and when he gathered the courage to look inside, the lines about his brow and mouth deepened; another sign that it was true. When he finally interrupted the silence, he confessed regretfully. “I-I was going to tell you.”
“But you didn't. There's a lot of things that I understand are none of my business, but this….I think is a good time to know. If you care about me at all, then read what you wrote.”
“But it's - it's not what you think.”
“Then there's nothing be afraid of. Go on then, read it.”
Visibly swallowing, his shaky hands held it open and he stuttered. “I-I-I thought of you today as I left th-the milky way, on my way t-to a classified location. I-I wish you were here so I could show you the beauty that exists across the universe, but knowing our limitations I can only send you this wonderful novel that I found when I was exploring a-a bookstore located on one of Saturn's moons. I-I know it can be hard to believe that Miss Jane Austen's works can reach the furthest depths of-of space, but that can be blamed on a certain Gallifreyan and his little blue box. I can't wait to hear what y-y-you think of it. Till next time my dear. With love, from Rick.”
“Don't forget the photos.”
Setting down the book, he glanced at the discarded photos, sagging a little after each one, gauging your reaction after he finished studying them. Rick was a smart man, he knew well enough that he messed up and how compromising those photos were. “It's not - I was only writing as ugh - as a friend.” He began, wringing his hands as he went on. “Y-y-y-y-you know I don't have that many.”
Which was true. “Really? So what did she do for you? Was she special?”
“She - she made me a little less lonely. That in itself was something I w-was grateful for.”
Your nails bit into your palms and that ever familiar ache bloomed across your chest; his answer birthing more questions than you were willing to ask. He offered you a Werther's original to placate you which you accepted; it's wrapper similar to the one in the painting. As ever he waited for you to answer, and the longer he waited, the more he sagged; his eyes pleading, hoping, wishing that he could know whatever hurt clouded your heart and wanted to fix it. “I want to believe you, I really do,” you admitted, which made him hopeful, though only for you to crush it with this. “but I'm tired of walking on eggshells. Tell me, what did you want from me when you had someone like her? Seems as though she was a good match for you. She was a creative who could paint, loved flowers, and butterflies among other things I imagine.”
“Sh-she did.”
You bit the inside of your cheek in an attempt to hold back the surge of feelings which were a result of his sincerity. Damn it. You could do this……possibly. “See?” you said cooly, focusing your gaze on your naked feet. “I knew she was special considering you sent her a book that had belonged to the Doctor. She also knew about your travels, which meant you trusted her and you hardly trust anyone. The point I'm getting at is that I want to know what I am to you. So, am I a knockoff or a rebound? Because we both know there's nothing like the real thing.”
“N-n-no, not at all. You mean th-the world to me and I-I love you. I have only loved you. ”
“But she loved you, didn't she? And you loved her. I can't ignore that. If she's anything like me, then what are we doing together Ricardo? Why aren't you with her? I…. I thought we understood each other but then I found proof that I was only second best. I can't do it, I can't compete with a shadow, and I'm not going to try. I don't have it in me.”
“I-I-I-I never expected you to. Por favor mi amor de m-mi vida, if you'll let me explain, I'll tell you whatever you want. I - I don't want to lose you. Please, honest t-t-to God, I don't. I can't.”
“Hmm, I didn't know you were a praying man.”
“When you're about t-t-to lose your universe, I don't think there are th-that many options. I can't - oh please I can't lose you. Not again.”
You felt your resolve breaking. You wanted to fall into his arms and melt into the comfort of them; for you both to comfort each other and let it all go because it probably was just a big misunderstanding; him being the best thing that ever happened to you, but not yet. Maybe he was a praying man after all, and if God was merciful, then why wouldn't you be? Rick certainly would. For Zeta-7, you could be. He'd definitely given you enough chances.
“Fine.” you decided, helping him up as you stood, but through this brief touch he almost misunderstood, thinking that the worst was over and gave your hand a squeeze; his warm smile weakening your resolve even further. Maybe Ricks were masters at mind games after all. And you knew it wouldn't take much for him to make you forget how unhappy you were, and like magic, show you something wonderful and dazzling, but you didn't want to be charmed; you wanted the truth. You bit the flesh inside of your cheeks hard enough for you to bleed, and despite relishing the warmth which permeated your chilled hands, you let go. “I'm……I'm not over it yet.”

Restraint and Reward - (Seduce Me) James x Reader NSFW
AKA I'm sorry for only contributing content of my favorite one-- "orz
Okay I can't and won't lie: I wrote this entirely for my own self-indulgence. However, it is in first person and the narrator doesn't have a name, so hopefully you can still project if you like -u-
I sort of tried to mimic the writing style of the games. I broke up the text in many places to kind of emulate how text boxes might look in-game...? I'm bad at describing it, also it was 1 AM when I finished writing this so kdjfhg
ALSO I don't write smut... like... ever... cause I usually get too embarrassed halfway through to actually finish it sdghfj I'm sorry if it's subpar, I'm much more of a smut artist than a writer
one more thing: there's a faux choice in the middle of this thing. I originally intended to make two versions of a "part 2" and then link the respective choices, but I only finished writing for one of them, so I just… condensed it into this one post and left the "choice" in, cause I think it helps it flow better tbh. one day I'll probably try to write for the other one but for now-- EH
Anyway, Seduce Me fans I hope you're still out there 🙏 and if nobody sees it then that's okay too honestly gdkshfkg

La Stanza Rossa.
An insanely fancy Italian restaurant that, growing up, I could only gaze at in awe from the car window during outings, due to the fact that I wasn't a wealth-hoarding multibillionaire.
…Alright, maybe that's a slight exaggeration. It was kind of upscale, but at least you didn't have to sell your organs to afford it.
You know what wasn't an exaggeration?
The name.
La Stanza Rossa. "The Red Room."
Not because of the color motif, the decor, or the branding…
But because this was going to be absolute torture.
I bit the inside of my cheek and stared hard at the menu, taking a deep breath. We haven't even ordered yet and this was already a struggle.
"Do you know what you want, love?"
I glanced up from the fancy leather-bound menu to meet the gaze of my husband, if only for a second. He flashed an innocent smile, gazing at me with those gorgeous whiskey-colored eyes. I could only imagine what kind of face I was making to garner that reaction.
He knew what he was doing.
Not wanting to keep him waiting, I cleared my throat and breathed a quiet sigh.
"I think I want to start with the lobster bi-i-isque--!"
I stuttered out the last word and snapped my lips shut, squeezing my thighs together to try and negate the sensation between them.
My fingers clutched the leather, leaving indents from my nails. Hopefully they wouldn't yell at us for damaging the menus.
Whatever. There are more important things to worry about right now.
Like the way James's sweet smile had turned into a teasing smirk at my response.
"I might have myself a cup of that as well," he added softly. "But I know that's not all you want, is it?"
Under any other circumstance, that sentence shouldn't have sounded suggestive.
But - and this might come as a surprise - it's very hard not to have dirty thoughts when there's a remote-controlled vibrator between your legs keeping you from choosing your damn dinner.
I closed my eyes and tried to steady my breathing.
In all fairness, I did agree to this…
Hell, I'd thought about trying this even before I learned that James was into BDSM.
Some time after that fateful and… enlightening conversation, we decided to visit a sex shop.
It was… interesting to say the least, walking into such a store alongside an incubus, but we figured it wasn't a bad place to start. It was our first foray into learning more about each other's boundaries when it came to intimacy. We considered it a bonding experience - no pun intended.
The vibrator caught his eye relatively quickly, and my only stipulation was that we got it in purple.
He chose the restaurant - and, in true James fashion, I swear it was a methodical decision.
Since it was a bit fancier, there weren't quite as many people as your average restaurant. The atmosphere was calm, and you could easily overhear the chatter of two tables over.
If anything slipped from my mouth, it wouldn't be hard for someone to notice.
I did at least get to choose what I wore.
I was never one for dressing up, nor was I used to going out to nice places like this, so I didn't have many options in my closet.
I decided I'd be just a bit bold, picking out a strapless black cocktail dress with tiered, gray ruffles. He did say he'd love to see me in black, after all.
It was a fine and comfy dress, reaching just above my knees.
But as I sat across from my incubus husband, the remote cradled in his hand under the table, this dress suddenly felt a lot shorter… and a lot tighter…
"Love? Did you hear me?"
His voice was a bit distant, between the sound of my own quickened pulse and the daydream of our trip from yesterday.
I just needed a few seconds… Just a few, and I'll be--
"Hngh--mm--!!"
I threw a hand over my mouth and clenched my legs tighter when the vibrations increased again, snapping me back to the dinner table.
That's what I get for trying to distract myself…
"There you are~," James chuckled softly. "I lost you for a minute, there."
"S-S-Sorry…" I managed to spit out between the twitches of my body. "I was, u-um, thinking about what else I wanted…"
"Were you now?" He rested his free hand beneath his chin, drinking in what he could see of me with a hungry gaze. A small chill ran up my spine. "I understand if you're having a hard time deciding. Some of the dishes they have here are quite… tantalizing."
Oh, he was absolutely doing this on purpose now.
…Not that I ever really doubted that in the first place, though. He wasn't even using his enthrallment and I was already melting at just his words.
God, I love this man.
I cleared my throat again, so focused on saving face that I barely noticed the vibrations had died down to a nearly-silent buzz.
"I could go for a steak," I said. "I'm not… terribly hungry, so… maybe the filet mignon."
It was kind of hard to have an appetite right now for anything other than… well, him, simply put.
"You're not hungry?" he teased. "And why might that be?"
"James… Come on…"
"Tell me~."
I struggled to meet his gaze, but when I finally managed to do so, James's slight smirk turned into more of a devilish smile as he watched my slowly-growing frustration.
"James, you know why…"
He chuckled again. "I do. But I want to hear you say it."
"R-Right now??" I pressed my lips together quickly. That came out a bit louder than I had intended.
I looked to my right, and saw two people seated a short distance away, turning their heads towards us. They turned back quickly when I made eye contact.
"Careful now…" James's low, smooth voice taunted me. "You don't want us to get caught, do you?"
I put a fist to my mouth and took a deep breath through my nose, my heeled feet tapping the floor beneath the table in an attempt to ground me. Fuck, those were some good words.
Thank God the tablecloth was long, and I still had the sense to lay the napkin on my lap.
Still, it didn't really help me feel any less…naked under James's stare.
Where the hell is our server…?!
"Good evening, folks."
It was like God himself had come to answer me in person.
I could have jumped for joy if the nerves in my lower half weren't absolutely liquefied. I barely even managed to sit up straight in my chair as our server finally came to greet us.
"Welcome to La Stanza Rossa. My name is Caesar, and I'll be taking care of you tonight."
Caesar, you are a veritable lifesaver. I would never even dream of repeatedly backstabbing this blessed gentleman.
"Can I get you two started with something to drink? All of our wine is 20% off this evening." Caesar looked at us with bright, kind eyes, his hands folded neatly in front of him.
"I'll have a glass of Pinot Noir, then."
"Excellent, sir. And you, miss?"
I let out a breath I didn't even realize I was holding.
"Um…" I glanced up quickly at our server. "Just a water, please. W-With lemon."
He nodded, and I stared back down at the menu. I was honestly expecting James to turn up the vibrations as I spoke just then, but surprisingly, nothing had changed.
I glanced across the table at my husband, who simply smiled at me before proceeding to order.
I took that moment to readjust myself in my seat. Hopefully I could angle myself in such a way that the vibrator wasn't pressed so flush against me, without drawing attention to myself.
"And what can I get for you, miss?"
Caesar looked patiently at me, pen and pad at the ready, as I smoothed the napkin over my lap. What an innocent soul.
I cleared my throat. "May I have the fil--! --let mignon??"
There it was.
The vibrations had strengthened for only a second - enough for me to choke on my words - then faded just as quickly. I knew James was planning something.
Readjusting had been a mistake, too. All it did was shift the vibrator closer against the most sensitive spot between my legs, making the sensation that much more powerful.
I shook my head quickly, putting a fist to my mouth and trying to pass it off as a hiccup. "E-Excuse me-- I'm sorry--"
"No no, you're alright! And your two sides?"
Oh my god, that worked?
I took a short breath. For a moment, I was honestly amazed at how I managed to push through that.
"House salad and seasonal fruit. P-Please." I sputtered out my next sentence as quickly as I could, trying to prevent another choke.
Unfortunately, it didn't really make a difference.
James, who had been eagerly watching me the whole time I ordered, redirected his attention to our server to thank him. He didn't even glance aside at me while he turned the vibrations back up, even stronger than before.
The entirety of my body tensed and I bit my cheeks to suppress a whine, nearly dropping the menu in the process. I somehow managed to close it and promptly set it down on the table beside me. My hands quickly found their way to my lap, where I clutched the napkin tightly between my fingers for purchase, and my feet curled involuntarily beneath the table. I squeezed my eyes shut a few times to clear the spots from my vision.
I was so certain I had given myself away.
Miraculously, Caesar collected the menus from the table and continued his script. Whether he noticed and simply kept silent, or whether he truly had no idea what was happening, I didn't know.
At this point, it was difficult to care about anything but the pleasure that was coursing throughout my lower body. A heat bubbled in my chest, making me want to gasp, but I managed to hold it in until Caesar left for the kitchen.
Once our server was out of sight, I closed my eyes and heaved a shaky sigh, letting my body slump forward and my head lower.
"You did so well."
My cheeks burned and my breaths wavered as I slowly turned up to look at James. He leaned over the table and reached his hand out, holding my chin gently in his fingers. His half-lidded eyes bore into me and he gave me a warm, teasing smile, before uttering two wonderful words.
"Good girl."
I could have perished on the spot.
The power this man--this demon--had over me right now was unbelievable. I was putty in his hands by this point.
And we hadn't even gotten our drinks yet.
I couldn't help but whimper as he took his hand away, letting his index finger trail under my chin.
The vibrations didn't lower again. Throughout our dinner, he would wait for me to get used to one setting before raising it to the next, knowing that the weaker ones wouldn't be enough to make me squirm anymore.
My only respite was that he'd turn off the vibrator entirely whenever I was approaching my peak. It gave me a moment to breathe, sure… but each time, he would wait longer and longer to turn it off, until I was so tantalizingly close that the sudden stillness would leave me a frustrated, whining mess.
All the while, he'd watch me shift in my seat while the pleasure wracked my body, gripping my silverware with such herculean force it could have launched right out of my hands. He'd smile as I tried my damnedest to stay quiet in this erotic game of keep-away, praising me when I spoke to our server without stuttering and chiding me whenever he saw someone glance over at us.
At one point, he had cranked up the vibrations so high that my knees reflexively jerked upwards and whacked the underside of the table. Upon hearing my cry of distinct pain, he instantly broke character and turned it off, coming over to make sure I hadn't cut myself on the wood or the like. Even in the midst of a sneaky, sinful outing like this, it would always warm my heart to see his concern for me.
That mishap definitely turned some heads--thankfully out of concern and not suspicion--so we both agreed to give it a rest for the remainder of the evening. I was definitely going home with a nice bruise, though.
We paid our check--well, more accurately, James paid our check. I offered to split, but he insisted it was to make up for what he had put me through.
When we were in his car, however, he didn't take off immediately. One of his hands rested atop the steering wheel, the other on his leg, just over the pocket of his slacks. He stared ahead, seemingly deep in thought.
"James? You okay?"
He didn't answer immediately. Instead, he uttered a thoughtful hum and turned his head towards me, his lips curling into a smirk.
He took the hand on the steering wheel and instead brought it to my face. Slowly, he smoothed it over my cheek and underneath my chin, tilting my head up to meet his dreamy gaze. He spoke with a low, sultry tone.
"I think you deserve a reward for tonight, my love."
I sank into his touch, my voice catching in my throat. With a bright blush, I could only bring myself to repeat his words back at him.
"A… A reward?"
"For being so well-behaved at dinner," he said. "Would you rather wait until we get home? We could settle into bed, or somewhere else…" He licked his lips, sending a shiver through my body. "And we could be as loud as we want."
At his words, flashes of my incubus husband absolutely dominating me in various places at home played in my mind.
James pinning me from behind against the bookcases in the library.
His head nestled between my thighs as I sat atop the kitchen counter.
Binding my arms and legs to the bedposts and refusing to touch me until I begged him for it.
Despite how insanely tempting these daydreams were… they really weren't doing my patience any favors…
James continued to speak, bringing me back to reality.
"Or…"
From the corner of my eye, I could see his other hand take the remote from his pocket. He pulled me closer and leaned over, until his soft lips ghosted over mine.
"Do you think I've teased you enough already?"
I trembled at his words, caught between my patience and my libido.
>> “I can wait ‘till we get home."
>> “No more teasing.”
Like he even had to ask.
I just sat in a fancy public eatery with a vibrator assaulting my clit for over an hour, with my own husband at the controls. I lost count of how many times I was just about to come when he suddenly stopped with a devious smile and left me to whine. Not to mention the extra effort of making sure that nobody caught wind of what we were doing.
I did not want to wait any longer. I couldn’t wait any longer.
I leaned forward and closed my eyes, pressing my lips to his in a desperate series of kisses.
“Please…” I begged between contact. “No more teasing…”
I knew James liked it when I begged.
But honestly, my pent-up need was so genuine, I don’t think that knowledge would have mattered right now anyway.
James’s grip on my chin tightened slightly as he gave me one final, deep kiss. And again, he trailed his finger under my chin as he parted, my head instinctively following to maintain that electric contact.
My eyes fluttered open, and I saw him fastening his seatbelt and shifting into drive.
Wait, really?! Come on…!
James simply nodded to me. “Go ahead and buckle in,” he prompted.
I was about to protest, but then I saw his eyes. A bright golden color stared back at me, and beneath it, a knowing smile. The warmth that surged through me from his enthrallment could have melted me to the seat.
That wasn’t a prompt. That was an order.
I did as he told, making sure the belt was snug against me. James rested one hand on the wheel again, not breaking his gaze at me.
“Good girl.”
I couldn’t stop the mewl that came from my throat at those words. He simply chuckled and turned to face the road, starting our trip home.
I sat with bated breath, but James said nothing. It was easily the longest 15 seconds of my life.
That is, until a familiar sensation hit me.
“Hnnh--!”
My knees jerked up as the vibrator started up again--thankfully, at its lowest setting, and with no table in the way this time.
I was already so sensitive from our time in the restaurant. With James’s enthrallment in effect as well, it was a wonder I didn’t pass out immediately from the overwhelming pleasure.
I clutched the edge of the seat tightly with one hand and covered my mouth with the other. Even though we were in the car by ourselves, cruising down a mostly empty road, my instinct was still to remain quiet.
James heard my stifled cries, and from the corner of my eye, I could see his thumb move over the buttons on the remote before he spoke.
“Don’t hold it in.”
Not even a second after those words, the vibrations increased, and my hand suddenly lost the strength to stay clamped over my mouth. It fell to my lap and clutched the hem of my dress, and I lowered my head as a long, loud whine escaped my throat.
“There we go. That’s it,” he purred. His voice alone was enough to draw another one out of me.
I could barely form a coherent thought. My heart pounded in my chest, my breaths became ragged, and my hips jutted up from the seat and further into the vibrator. I was already so close... Not surprising, considering what I had just been through prior.
“James, I--I ca…” I could barely manage between breaths. “I-I’m--”
James simply hummed, and I heard him set the remote in the cupholder between us before reaching over to slip my hand into his.
“That’s it, love,” he cooed. “Come for me.”
My hand squeezed his and a lengthy moan sounded from my throat, my body naturally obeying his command. White spots filled my vision as my much-needed release finally washed over me in a series of mind-numbing waves. I could only shudder and whimper as the aftershocks made me crumple back into the seat.
There was a fraction of a second afterwards where nothing existed, except the post-orgasmic bliss that served as my reward for a long, torturous night.
And then my eyes snapped open as another pleasure-filled jolt shot through my body.
It wasn’t stopping.
“H-Huh…??”
James chuckled softly and let go of my trembling hand, picking up the remote once more as we came to a stoplight. He looked at me with a sultry smile.
“What? You think I’d only let you come once?”
Between the ceaseless overstimulation between my legs and James’s teasing tone, my mind couldn’t even begin to formulate a response. I could only utter a vaguely-inquisitive whimper.
“After the evening I’ve put you through…” he continued. “If I didn’t make it up to you in full, well… That would just be cruel, now, wouldn’t it?”
My chest heaved as I looked ahead of us, and my eyes widened when I saw the names of the intersection.
James was taking the long way home.
Struggling to form words of any kind, I could only look up at him with big, pleading eyes, to which he tilted his head.
“I told you, you deserve a reward.”
James’s thumb ghosted over the buttons.
“And I intend to spoil you."
