I do not understand anything and the neighbors' cat wants to cuddle and eat the yarn pls send help

my resolution for 2025 was to NOT learn crochet bc although I'm sure I'd like it I don't have the budget for it or enough room or enough time + for me personally I don't think it would be helpful to reduce my clothing consumption (which is already pretty low) BUT my mom got me a super cute beginner crochet plushie kit so. step 1 failed 😌
