ENT says I need to choose between cosmetic and medical?

I have recently been seeing an EMT who diagnosed me with nasal polyps and a deviated septum. He recommends surgery, which I want to do, however I've also been wanting cosmetic rhinoplasty for a long time. When I brought this up, he said that the only wait it is possible to do both is if I get the cosmetic surgery first, wait until it is completely healed, ensure it is exactly how I want it to look (including any revisions), and THEN get the medical stuff done. I'm pretty shattered because obviously that would take a very long time and I wanted the medical stuff done soon. I also feel like it's a waste to go through surgery twice, taking time off work twice etc for the same body part, I was desperately hoping to be able to get them both done at the same time but apparently it is not possible; he essentially said it's one or the other. Has anyone else had this experience?
