Finally finished GO2 and I'm CRYING but I also wanted to add something to all the analyses going around. Spoilers under the cut!!!
Today we'll be talking about... Heaven as a Panopticon.
(just roll with it)
Look. A lot of people have made some really detailed and incredible analyses (and some truly breathtaking comics, fanfic, fanart, GIFs, and more!) After S2, but one thing I haven't seen anyone comment on yet is how open heaven is. This ties into the whole idea of heaven as not supremely good (because there's no such thing, even when you're not human enough to not be "perfect". I mean, you heard the angels ask Metatron "did we do something wrong?". Angels can do wrong!! Even they know this!!! So they aren't supremely perfect or powerful or good just by being Angels. They can still make mistakes; still learn human traits. Like love).
Anyway, my point is: look at Muriel. Their desk is so out in the open that Saraquel (how do I spell???) Literally just walked up to them and Crowley in the middle of their Secret Meetingā¢. Their desk is in the middle of the floor. Not even an office because it has no walls. It is just a desk, in the middle of the room. What the hell.
And it's implied that this is normal for Heaven (because otherwise Crowley would have commented, because, let's face it, he would have). This is in no way the only time we've seen evidence of this "honesty policy" being taken too far (what was that about "nothing to hide, nothing to fear"? What was that about this not being an "institutional problem"????). We have often seen meetings of the Top Brass of Angels, and you always see them in the middle of this huge open space. You can see walls around them, but those are the walls of a building, not a room (btw, are we going to talk about the entirety of Heaven being a single building? Or do we think that's just the building they have all those meetings in and all their plans and their globe thingy and other Angels work there and-).
Everything is open because everyone has nothing to hide because everyone is a perfect Angel. Everyone is perfect. But they're not!!! It is an instructional problem, in that people are waking up!!! They don't want to just be rubber stamps, perfect little snobs in their ivory towers, but they don't want to be in Hell with the Damned, so where else do they go? Crowley and Aziraphale were the first to realise that Earth could be a safe haven, a neutral ground. A home. Then Gabriel and Beelzebub did the same thing, and now Muriel... How long before more follow?
Forget hordes of Angels falling and fighting their brethren to become Demons, because they don't see another choice. Welcome to a safe neutral haven for every Angel who saunters vaguely downward, but does not wish to fall. Welcome to somewhere you don't have to be an Angel, constantly watched, or a Demon, constantly on your guard.
Welcome to Earth. You'll always have a safe place here; sit down, let me get you some hot chocolate.
(aka wouldn't it be cool if Muriel and Crowley turn the bookshop into a safe space for Angels and Demons looking to change and wanting not to be one or the other, but find their own way?)
But seriously, heaven as the embodiment of Panopticon: never hidden from prying eyes. Opposite to hell, full of locked doors, where you are always hidden and on your guard. Are you ready to find a middle ground?
#good omens#go2 spoilers#good omens spoilers#good omens analysis#heaven and hell#turned into a bit of a story#you can take this as a bit of a metaphor for gender: going to Earth is questioning your gender. staying there and forging your own path is#being non binary. becoming an Angel/Demon is transitioning#Crowley ānot entirely a ladā: i like my new gender thank you very much. it comes with a Car. g

everybodys-chains replied to your post: Lyredy or Grayedy
OMG 3 CHILDREN?!
There are 2 girls in the Meddlesome verse (alternate canon). Muriel and her little sister who I never named whoops.
And in the Neighborhood AU (modern AU) thereās a baby boy who has no name and I refer to him as Tyke. The kids donāt actually have names in this AU though because Rogueās child is nicknamed Baby.
#everybodys-chains#I have fanart of Muriel somewhere#and some fanfics with mama/daddy + baby#lyon put his child in a giant ice hamster ball lmao#and meredy fed the child marshmallows

This took me too long to edit...
Following on from completing inktober2019, here is the completed collection of my 2020 project "30 markers, 30 fanarts". The idea was to merge Inktober and Huevemeber practices into an end of year project with the added stipulation of every drawing being a fanart of a different character I love.
I wanted to try focussing on colour theory and composition for this project ā markers seemed like the best traditional tool to really force me to. I donāt actually own a lot of markers, and what I do have isnāt necessarily artist grade. In and of itself, that was actually a reason I paid more attention to how I was using colour and how to vary it.
With some drawings, I kept it simple and just paid attention to how to layer the markers to get different effects. A few of these types were redraws of screenshots or official art and I feel like I really learned the most about actually using markers from those.
With others, I tried more interesting compositions to explore how to use colour in more dynamic or unusual ways. It was mostly on these that using markers gave me a lot of grief ā I would often have an idea of what I wanted the outcome to be, but no idea on how to use markers to get there. There was a lot of experimenting. Some of it worked and some of it didnātā¦
Also, for funsies, every drawing has some gold or silver on it somewhere. It wasn't planned but by the end, almost all of them had some anyway, so I went back and added it to what didn't. Even if that was one tiny dot in someone's eye somewhere.
At the end of this project, I have confirmed my previous conclusion that I just donāt like using markers that much (lol). Iāve definitely learned more about using them, how to layer them and how to use what I have to achieve different things. But I doubt theyāll ever be one of my go-to mediums.
Somehow, one of the hardest parts of this whole project was just coming up with 30 characters that I liked that fit into the colour schemes. In all honesty, there was some shifting and some finagling and some manoeuvring right up to the end of the project. But Iām happy with the set I chose; I think itāll be interesting to look back at this selection in a few years and see who will have been replaced and what new characters will make it.
Overall, per usual, I went into this project boldly and bravely, regretted it halfway through, and now appreciate what I learned and accomplished at the end.
Iāll be posting my favourites individually/in pairs after Iāve cleaned them up some.
