"Do you ever feel... that something is coming? Something bad?"

I#Actually feel that her slightly misanthropic approach and heroless plots work for this one. Perhaps it helps that I haven't read the book#And am only vaguely aware of the plot through the Marple adaptation from a few years ago. Regardless this is good spooky festive viewing#(speaking of which why wasn't this on over Xmas?). The supernatural elements and the haunting dream sequences lend themselves to a downer#Plot in which nobody is really very good and in fact most ppl are pretty terrible; although kudos to Sewell for managing to hold on to some#Kernel of something deep in his character that meant he somehow remained slightly sympathetic if not pitiable even tho he was objectively#An abusive gaslighting murderous shit. That's acting i guess! Elsewhere the witches obviously steal a lot of focus and it's delightful to#See Tushingham performing again. The whole cast is very good and it's all very nice to look at and fun to try and figure out. Just don't#Expect a lot of laughs along the way... (also I may never get used to fuck bombs in an Agatha Christie but what the hey)
