Oh oh oh what is "Rich boy rich boy whatcha gonna do"?

THAT one is a dark sbi au kinda where struggling artist wilbur gets caught up in the influence and the attention of Technoblade who is like, the eldest son of the Craft family, who is super rich and somewhat famous with Phil being a famous person and Tommy being a spoiled child. Its a little funny bc its like wilbur constantly wanting to shake Techno for being such a rich kid (ex. techno has never had cheap pizza bc he��s had literal chefs making his meals all the time) and they get into funny little shenanigans with Techno constantly dragging wilbur into Rich Events (wilbur shows up to a ball with a shirt that has food stains and Techno has to wrangle him into the next room to put on something Presentable, bc we have a reputation, WIL-!) but its also meant to be a slow horror where Techno goes from seeming like a down to earth person to someone who will actually do anything to make sure he gets what he wants. (And he wants Wilbur to be his Friend. his friend. No one elses, thank you!)

Its- ahhhh i wanna ramble on but i dont wanna too much but anyhow one detail i like in the au is that theres a contrast between Tommy and Techno in how they act bc Tommy acts like a typical rich kid who gets all pissy when hes denied something and Techno and Wilbur tend to be like “wow he’s throwing a tantrum again lol” and Wilbur thinks that its just Tommy whos got some issues but then later on Techno has something go wrong with his 77 step plan to befriend Wilbur and he gets so upset about it that he snaps and tears apart his whole room in a fit of rage, which is such a MOMENT bc then its a reveal that Techno isnt any better, hes just better at keeping it behind closed doors. And PHIL is also just as bad as them bc he’s entirely justifies the damage and is like “ahh its going fine techno its not all lost but i can arrange for someone to go missing if you want”

Also also Techno is technically?? A fashion designer?? In the fic yeah i think that was the thing Phil is like a big name and Techno takes after him and theres also the detail of Techno constantly trying to have Wilbur wear his pieces and Wilbur is like “there is no occasion where i need to wear something thats worth more than my car” “well we do have this charity event next week-“ “who is WE??”

GOSH its all so much its such a fic and it does get really dark at some bits (wilbur ends up trying to murder techno lmao) but ehh its a wip who knows if ill ever post it haha

Also its called rich boy rich boy whatcha gonna do bc the rich boy is techno and whatcha gonna do is wilburs mental process when he realizes how deep in trouble he is

i think of one my favorite scenes ive ever thought abt it really :3 there’s something so heartwarming abt jacob wanting to make sure that even an interest like stargazing and constellations can still go back to being about you and ur relationship with him ❤️‍🩹

another very cute scene from the series i poured all my heart into. admittedly, i have so much snippets in mind that i wish i could post but i settled on smth just cute and tender as this :33 making marriage pacts with ur bestie is normal! but i think for these two, it meant smth more :3

3. of boundaries and secret glances (i’m lucky to be loved by you) [highlights are comments from my beta reader </3]

honestly, picking a snippet was hard mainly bc so much scenes needed CONTEXT. but i think this can stand on its own :] even if i have a love-hate relationship with this fic, i still think there are just some scenes that never fail fo make me smile (just like this!)

1. changmin seasons fic

it’s a fic that is meant to be told through seasons, it explores themes of academic pressure and even aspirations—how jichang got to live the dreams be had in mins vs you who is constricted. a lot of gaps in the outline which is why i haven’t picked it up.

2. sunwoo summer love fic

crazy ass outline tbh!! its complete and very diff from what i usually write (this is really meant to be more romance-centric… i guess thats why ive been putting it off) but its just this whole idea of reader being the non-commitment type while sunwoo is the one who actually does want smth with u if ud ever consider!! i love it bc i really think sunwoo is soooo the type for commitment and past all the typical player vibes. he is just a sweet boy who is a hopeless romantic (who cant help but still be flirty!!)

3. jacob angst f2s2ls fic

i dont want to spoil anything too major abt this one mainly bc its smth ive been trying to work very hard on :3 just know it explores themes of forgiveness, grief, and being lost in ur late 20s </3 very much an angstier fic out of everything ive posted so far

5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?

this SHOULDN'T have surprised me, but bangable was my first outright smut piece for aftg, and i laughed when i woke up the next morning and my inbox was POPPIN. i feel like aftg fandom is usually p quiet in the comment section (or im just spoiled by the richness of simon snow fandom), but people were SO READY to talk about this blowjob hahahha.

12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?

oh man LOL. theres a short answer and a long answer and im gonna go for long bc maybe talking abt it all will hold me accountable for finishing stuff.

ok so like technically i have 1 million wips. jk. technically technically i have 41 aftg wips (and ENDLESS more simon snow wips), but most of those google docs are resting in peace in my "wip graveyard" folder. they may be resurrected one day but who knows.

so more accurately i am currently sitting on four wips! all aftg.

my hs au We Can Live Forever... which i actually completed the next chapter for! but i dont want to post it until i finish the one after bc i kind of leave it off on a mean note. i might post it anyway so that people get mad at me and motivate me to keep writing though...

what i have dubbed "slut au," in which our favorite resident ace neil explores sex. its sitting at 20k rn, about halfway thru the plot. very messy atm. about 60% smut.

OH and i am seriously considering doing a magnum opus andrew POV fic. i need to move into my own apartment in order to accomplish this because i want to like. really go ham analyzing the books and scaffolding that plot bc if i do it im going to tell the same story but with a very different structure i think. and i cannot do this in my current living situation. so that would probs be my Fic of 2023 if true.

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

cheesy. but more than anything i think i've come to know myself as a fiction writer this year. ive always written fiction in bits and pieces, and ive done a shit ton of professional nonfiction writing. writing snowbaz last year felt good in that i was finally writing regularly, but switching fandoms upped my confidence because thats when i could finally prove to myself that i wasn't just copying rainbow rowell hahaha. WHICH LIKE she definitely continues to influence my writing but i think ive developed my style in a way where its more my own now -- i don't lean on the style of aftg the way i did for simon snow fics. and while andrew is undeniably NOT my character, ive done a lot of work around the way i write his POV that im proud of. and this makes me think that if i wanted to write original stories i could... even tho i havent rly come up with a story i want to tell on my own just yet!

Somehow, Collin hears them. Silently, she rolls up her sleeve, and Rowan feels the Collin Sutherland they knew is somewhere far, far away. The tattoos are black, geometric in design, two on each arm, and eerily similar to the ones Rowan has just discovered on their own left arm. They're sure if they were to roll up their right sleeve, they would find more.

"I should have told you a long time ago," Collin whispers. "I didn't know you were a part of it, but I should have guessed. I didn't want to put you in danger."

"I'm not- I don't- in danger of what?"

The waves crash onto the shore, and in the distance, a seagull cries, sending Collin into action. She grabs Rowan's hand and starts pulling, dragging them back behind the house.

"Come on. We don't have a lot of time, we have to get going. I can tell you everything on the way. I don't know why he brought me here instead of straight to the veil, damn it-,"

"Wait!," they say, wrenching their hand out of her grasp. "Just- stop! Where are we going?!"

Collin's eyes flash bright, despite the lack of sunlight. "Home."

OMFG okay,,, wait do you mean full names?? POV characters as of rn are Collin Aisling Sutherland, Rowan Tilley (doesn’t have a middle name) and Avery Bristol Charter. then the next most important one is Isaac Michael Rosewell, even though he’s the antagonist. then the side characters that are still very featured are Noah Rosalyn Pratten, Reese Iseul Radley, and Sage Emarosa Delgado. THEN we get into the very very side characters, Willa Robinson and her son August Robinson. then we have Avery’s parents, Alaric and the late Octavia Charter. and thennnnn we have Beldane Moreno, Avery’s uncle and Collin’s grandfather (undecided abt that last name but going w it for now). i promise it all makes sense. i promise anfnfsjnfdjsfd

i’ll give this one to Collin, she is a musician! Avery’s mother always taught her music before The Accident (dun dun dunnn) and after Collin was abandoned in the Nigh she threw herself into music. she plays guitar mostly, but she secretly loves piano the best out of every instrument she knows

3 sentences about your current WIP

OOF. im so bad at summaries why would you do this to meee abfhshjbsbshfjsbf. “A determined believer wants to return to a home that never wanted her. Almost 4000 miles away, an incisive, intellectual outcast of a dreamer muses over getting out of their hometown. And infinities away from them both, a teenage revolutionary disappears into thin air, on his way to bring back his past and fix his (and everyone’s) future.”

Is there a romance in your WIP and did you plan it from the beginning?

yes! there are three! they are definitely a main focus of the plot, but not THE main focus. Reese and Rowan were definitely planned from the beginning. Collin and Noah were, too, but they weren’t originally enemies to lovers, and they are now (hehehehehe). and Isaac and Avery were DEFINITELY not planned from the beginning. in fact, Avery was originally paired up with Sage, but it’s literally so much better this way and i’m so glad it’s been changed. Isaac and Avery has been planned since about when Isaac’s character was thought up, one year into planning WTCMTS.

What genre(s) is it?

a mix of dystopia and urban fantasy. and it’s YA, borderline NA because some of the characters are 19-20, but i still think YA is appropriate because of the style of writing.

What’s the aesthetic of two of your characters?

fun question! Collin’s aesthetic is very emo-punk, with a splash of yellow towards the end of the series. piercings, blue hair, rips on clothing, dirty converse, smudged eyeliner, safety pins. the yellow comes in as part of her character arc, as she learns to accept that her childhood memories are tainted and not actually perfect utopia. Rowan is way more minimalist (sometimes). they’re into the bookstagram type aesthetic, and mom jeans with sneakers, jean jackets, plants against a white wall, colorblocked windbreakers, rain against a car window.

When did you start your current WIP?

WTCMTS was started in august of 2017

still worldbuilding, unfortunately, for personal reasons

HOW TO KNOW YOU’RE IN A HALOHIDINGS NOVEL

you’re an older sibling and you have a younger sibling. you’re extremely bitter towards your younger sibling for stealing opportunities from you, damning you to a life you never truly wanted. your younger sibling adores you and just wants to please you. they never meant to do it. 

you’re stuck in constant, wistful wanderlust, never feeling like you truly belong, never fitting in anywhere, not with friends, not with family, and when you finally find the place you’ve been looking for, you realize it’s nothing like you dreamed or remembered.

you’re not heterosexual. no one around you is. no one is cisgender either. where are they? no one knows. 

you have a peculiar capability dancing under your skin. it trickles from your pores and muddles with your mind. maybe you asked for it, maybe it was predestined, maybe you never wanted anything to do with it. whatever the reason, it’s there, and you don’t know what’s you and what’s it. maybe you’re not meant to ask. maybe you’re meant to succumb. 

your memories are as fickle as the rain, coming and going and breaking through the clouds, shattering the fog and disappearing with the sun. you can’t recall what you’re doing here, or where you’re meant to be instead. what’s your name?, they ask. you don’t know.

Hi, I just spent 3 days continously watching buffy. I reached till s5 e10 and realised I couldnt go on much longer. I saw s517 and saw Angel and Buffy kiss and I needed to know. I needed to know if theyd end up together. I wanted to know if Riley would come back so I went to wikia and lo and behold. There was Spike. And Buffy. And I know that if i watched the rest of the seasons maybe he'd grow on me but knowing that in the end its not buffy and angel and that shes with Spike who I despise rn I

anon cont. “-I despise. Maybe if i’d watch the other seasons they’d grow on me. But I spoilt the show for me. They dont get together. I hate Spike. And I am distraught. Buffy doesnt even have human!Angel memories. Buffy has been through so much. She deserves so much better. They need to be together. And I just feel sad and directionless and I guess I need closure. Are there any fics you could recommend to me that will leave me with even a bit of satisfaction and closure? Please.” 

First of all Anon, believe me when I say that I and many other fans share in your frustration. Now that you have looked and have been spoiled you know that Buffy and Angel have not yet received anything resembling a “happy ever after” and Spike certainly throws a wrench in our heroes love story. That being said, as a die hard BTVS and ATS fan I encourage you to keep watching as there are still some good things ahead (Although the best Buffy days are behind you IMO). And further, this may be the ramblings of a Bangel in denial but I feel that even during the Spike fiasco of S6 Angel’s place in Buffy’s heart continues to be respected as she makes references to him a few times and in Season 7 she tells her friends how she feels about him. In the finale, there is also a nod to Buffy and Angel. At the end of the day, when the show is said and done the audience knows one thing for sure, Angel and Buffy are not over. 

Even in the comics there are Bangel moments, and despite her current relationship status she continues to acknowledge she has conflicting feelings for Angel (now I’m not going to lie, being a Bangel and reading the comics is pretty torturous).

To that end, I get the the crux of your question. Fic recommendations! There are literally hundreds that give our heroes a happy ending. I am going to recommend for you what are in my opinion the best of the best:

1. Since you are on Season 5, the first two I will recommend are post s5 fics (you still need to finish watching Season 5 for them to make sense though!) The first is: Phoenix Burning by Yahtzee. Many fans consider this to be one of the best Buffyverse fic ever written and I for one agree. It is Bangel but so much more. Set post s5 but hundreds of years in the future. S6/7 never happened and therefore, no Spuffy ;) 

2. The next one is a heartbreaking fic from a writer who has written two of my favorite fics out there in the verse. I am recommending this one because it is closer affiliated with s5. Swan Song by @ariaadagio. I would give anything to have more fics from this writer in our fandom. She does a beautiful job capturing the beauty of Buffy and Angel. I recommend her other fic Some Say In Ice once you finish both series (you need to finish Angel as well).

3. For some pure fluffy joy I recommend Ten Observations on Being in Love with a Human by KairosImprimatur. It’s very sweet.

4. For the most realistic representation of how I think Buffy and Angel would actually get together post NFA I recommend a fic from another really great fic writer Marenfic, Intermezzo.

5. Finally, I would recommend a fic that is a WIP but which I really enjoyed, its another post NFA fic, so again I encourage you to finish your run of both shows then come and read this one! From the Ashes by Bite-or-Avoid. Its angsty, just like any good Bangel fic but it has good stuff. I found it cathartic. 

I will shamelessly plug two of my fics which have a happy ending: Prom and The Work We Do. Please note all of the ratings on my fics and on the fics above as some of them are mature!

I encourage you to look at the IWRY marathon fics. If you want more recommendations you can look at my bookmarks on AO3. Happy reading and don’t give up on the shows. There are still good stuff and plenty of fic to help ease your Bangel heart when Joss won’t give our Champions what they deserve - the bastard ;).
