Emerson King was sentenced to 25 to life for a series of thefts, and he was not cut out for prison. Waifish and frail, King was an easy target. After a year of brutal treatment at the hands of prisoners larger and more intimidating than him, King had had enough. He was going to hang himself in his cell when a fairy queen appeared to him to make a deal. She would grant him subtle arcane powers that would keep him alive and eventually escape. So long as he did her bidding once he was on the outside. Seeing no other alternative, he took her up on her offer. While not plotting his escape, King used his powers to frighten those around him, and escape in a puff of smoke from those he could not frighten. As an escaped fugitive, he must juggle hiding from the law and his now lifelong servitude to Titania of the Summer Court, queen of Fairies
