Sailor Moon Crystal Mexican Dub

So, I went to the Sailor Moon Crystal mexican dub premiew at theaters and all I have to say its: wow

It was better than I expected, but still not perfect. 

Bringing the old voices was a hit and a miss. Sometimes they sound perfect, but most of the time you can tell the actresses are not young anymore, specially when they are talking with another characters (whos actors sound fresh and young) and when they are screaming in action scenes. Plus, as much as I love Genaro Reyes voice, it doesn’t fit for this Mamoru version, his voice it’s too old and deep for the caracter, it doesn’t fit with the image, but Monica sounds so perfect as Rei when she’s speaking, it sounds so calm and has that princess like vibe.

Anyway, they used the japanese names the characters (thank god) but the old traslated names for the attacks, catch pharses.., I was hoping they would just use the original attacks names from the manga, seeing the translation from Panini Manga used these and try to globalize everything (seeing how kodansha is trying to do it with every manga release outside japan)

As I said, I had low expectention seeing the old cast was coming back, but it was better than I thought it would be. I just hope the next episodes (it was 4 acts in theaters) has better dub direction, something they sound so plain and doesn’t match their feelings with what it’s happening in the screen.

btw, the opening was creditless, but the ending had the credits in spanish, also they used a narrator for the acts, sings, etc. It was a nice touch and sounded so good.
