Jonathan Frakes Asks Me Things
youtube
And, in an exercise in oversharing, I answer every single thing...
I don't own a car, but I've certainly been shopping with family, but we're usually good at relocating our vehicle. There have been times I had been waiting for someone to me up from the shops, and I have to figure out where they'll park or pick me up from.
Not mountain biking, but I've gone camping plenty of times and took a bike with me. I'd usually ride around the camp grounds, and up the road a little.
I read plenty of comics when I was young. Garfield, peanuts, Asterix, and occasionally whatever was in the papers. So, I wanted to be a cartoonist. Instead, I became burnt out and depressed and do nothing... though, I guess this is something.
We don't really tip in this country, thanks to decent minimum wages, and it's typically optional and reserved for 'good service'
Not very lately, and not me personally. During a unit inspection, the real estate discovered my bathroom tap was very adjustable, so they called that in and got it replaced with one I can't turn around to fill large vessels easily. Shame, but I understand that it wasn't meant to rotate.
Not very, and I usually pretend to. I'm agnostic, thanks to an attempted Christian upbringing which resulted in me wandering out of the service to explore the church grounds most of the time. I once worked with a very nice and very religious guy, who once asked if he could tell me 'Jesus loves me' which is very thoughtful in a few ways. On one hand, he understands the walk of 'Jesus, man!' is not for everyone and had the decency to ask before pushing it upon me. On the other hand, I won't pass down an opportunity for free 'love and compassion', no matter where it comes from. You gotta take what you can get, y'know? Either way, and personally, I love with my heart, and use my head for everything else.
Probably not a lot... I MEAN, WHAT IS YOUR OFFER? A MILLION? TENS OF? Also, do I get to pick? because if it was my local memorial park, I would have to get situated in the one building they have, or in the corner opposite of the busiest roads/highways in town, although... they did say night... actually that's not much better. Not in this town. So, I hope I get to pick, or the option is not one in the middle of town.
I don't know, I rent so I would have to ask if I can get the right number of hooks needed. Otherwise, I could hang... stuff off of it. very handy! Though I sure hope the deer shed those horns and wasn't... a part of it when the trophy was made.
No, and I thought I couldn't have one, but apparently the real estate's pet rules aren't legally enforceable, so I could... but that's money. I could settle for getting a bird feeder though...
Not really. I usually avoid high sugar (GI) content foods... it's a sometimes thing. Sugar is... not good for you. Raw (low GI) sugar, and zero sugar soda is my safe zone, but some would say they're probably not much better.
Again, I don't undertake superstitions. When we speak of a curse or something cursed, it's usually inconceivably unlucky, or uncomfortably bizarre... but that doesn't 'go as hard' so r/cursedshitorwhatever I'm not a redditor. In terms of 'the power' of a curse, it's usually aligned with a peculiar series of circumstances of pattern recognition. You probably have an idea of the kind of people that run this effect. Where everything they hop onto ultimately went under. They might not be cursed... they just might have a history of poor management, but kept adding things to their LinkedIn so they still get hired. The reason I'm not superstitious is there's usually a reason for everything... even if there's no reason stated, those are usually just too obfuscated to understand. ...now this is becoming too obfuscated to understand. Moving on...
I don't think I've had my hearing tested ever, that I can remember. My hearing is fine, but auditory hypersensitivity (autism) can cause anxiety when there's a lot of commotion, which is why I usually wear Active Noise cancelling headphones/earbuds most of the time when I'm out. I kinda became reliant on them.
Not soon, but If I do, I'm taking my ANC headphones with me.
I did see a tall guy in the supermarket the other day... otherwise, there was an old friend of mine I studied with in my game dev course. He was cool, and massively tall, he could play baskety ball. Somehow, we drifted out of contact. I could guess why but I won't get into it. Either way... I miss him.
I prefer overcast days, where I don't have to worry about getting fried by the sun.
What are you asking me with this? I don't understand... The only thing I can think of is... Aunty Donna did this sketch about real estate agents, essentially bringing them into the light and proving that they are defined as: massive cunts. Owing to the fact that they went out of their way to ruin a perfectly improved fully adjustable bathroom sink tap, they may be onto something! They then proceeded to run with this concept, making an entire episode of their new tv series about it. While I do not understand the question in the slightest, I'm happy to take the opportunity to speak absolute truths about real estate agents... Actually, the one that helped me get my current unit, his wisdom was undoubtably key to getting into this place. He was pretty cool, and the fact that we kept running into him exploring units that day... I knew something was going to work out that day.
I could be more careful, I reckon. In that I ough to known where each one is a little better, but it doesn't come up often.
*sigh*... okay.
Let's get dive into that.
The reason why you computer feels like it has a mind of it's own...
First and foremost.
Your current computer will never have a mind of it's own.
If it seems like it does, well... this may sound harsh but it's probably your fault.
But not entirely... I means you didn't know any better, and I can understand that. I've also been at fault for things I didn't know any better about.
y'see, unless you're downloading open source software with no profit motive, a program you searched for on the internet that you may go to install, may ask to install something extra because it's their sponsor. You always have the option to decline this. The problem is, you're probably clicking through this and just hit accept to proceed... on something you didn't mean to.
It's not going to install something malicious typically, it's just bloat you can easily uninstall off your PC typically.
But trust me, it could be a lot worse. Such as a hacker obtaining access to your PC to do nafarious deeds... but this isn't your PC's fault.
What I'm autisting about here is, Computers are designed in a way that everything they do is the result of human input.
If it actually had a mind of it's own... you would have Artifical Inteligence... REAL AI, not that procedual generative stuff that's all the rage currently.
General, Human level, intelegence.... like say...
Oh look, it's Jonathan Frakes!
I have. The one in Melbourne is located on the east end of Little Bourke street, between Swanson st and Exibition st. I haven't been there often, but one time I got a nice little cake from there.
There used to be one located in Caribbean Gardens (not that Caribbean). I went there a long time ago. I think there was absolutly software pirates selling stuff there but I didn't get anything like that, only a third party gamecube controller that I ended up wearing out by mashing the buttons too much (Paper Mario TYD will do that... as will Metroid Prime). Funny considering Nintendo's Australian offices were essentially next door. They closed up buisness in 2020 for obvious reasons, and never reopened. But it looks like something new has taken it's place?
Yeah, you know the ones on the highway/freeway where they have an accompanying inbound/outbound service station each with their own identical McDonalds AND KFC in the same building? That's two seperate McDonalds AND KFC for each side of the freeway. I wonder if one is better than the other, or if the staff alternate between the two. Probably. Basically anywhere you're effectively venturing out further than your usual circle of existance (aka, metro melbourne), there will be a service station, or two next to eachother, and they have their own seperate Hungry Jacks... or if you're me, and feel lucky... a Red Rooster!
It depends... during the time I worked, I've taken orders to people, but I've never... taken people's orders. I was a labourer, not meant to interface with the people directly, but it being a children's play place, there's not much to order. I once prepared fairy bread. That was the one and only food item they had me prepare. Otherwise I cleaned up puke and shit, and politely told kids to not climb all over the jumping castle.
Successful resturants? Yeah I've certainly seen enough american themed resturants go under... usually because they're trash. As for successful themed resturant chains? Seems to be more common. Though honestly they're more franchises. Idk, it was weird for a moment finding out the neat sushi train resturant I found in Melboune central, also has a location at the shops closer to me. And vice versa. I didn't expect the korean fried chicken place that popped up in my town to have another in the aforementioned closer shop. And then there's schnitz, which has just exploded in locations and popularity. When one shopping centre I used to go to started their redevelopment, I basically called that it would have a schnitz. You can probably tell what their theme is.
If it comes up? sure! But i'd probably draw a little guy there instead. now, that said... I once accedently imprinted my shoeprint at one place while I was working there during it's construction. Fun fact, it's the same play place I mentioned earlier. Mind you, I think they smoothed it over after I trod on it so I don't think my mark has been retained.
This was honestly pretty fun. Thanks, Jonathan Frakes!

7 n 13 for the non-usa ask!! would’ve said 8 but *gestures to unironic ‘all of (east) europe is the same’ dipshit gang*
Thank you for the ask, Patchy!! ❤️
7. three words from your native language that you like the most?
Oooh, ok, this is gonna be a bit hard cause there are quite a few but-
șod - as a Transylvanian person I am obligated by law to put this here. It's actually a word from our local dialect, but Hungarian in origin, which we use when we want to describe something as funny and endearing at the same time. Like it makes you laugh but you're also super fond of it, and it can be used when referring to people or animals as well!
grai - this is actually Slavic in origin, and it has several related meanings, such as "voice" or "language" or "dialect". It's a pretty literary word as well, that you're more likely to meet in older texts than in casual conversation but I still find it really pretty.
And since we're on the subject, another beautiful word for "voice" is "glas" which just sounds really nice.
Luceafăr - this one might be my favourite, though ngl, it's pretty cliche lol. But basically, it can mean two things: it's either another name for the Planet Venus (and comes in several "flavors" like Luceafărul-de-Seară or Luceafărul-de-Zi, which means Venus of the Evening or Venus of the Day) or can be an epithet given to a man with remarkable qualities.
The word itself actually comes from "Lucifer" which has so many connotations to it and I just find it utterly satisfying as a result, hehe.
13. does your country (or family) have any specific superstitions or traditions that might seem strange to outsiders?
So, so, so many-
I come from the countryside, and while my family isn't overly religious or even superstitious, I still grew up with a lot of stuff that I didn't realize was weird until later on, like:
when someone dies, you must cover all your mirrors in the house to prevent the spirit from being trapped in them. This is still practised to this day.
if you hear a voice call out your name during the night, do not turn around or answer it. It's an evil spirit coming to harm you.
if you drink water from a certain well in a village, you'll be bound to that place forever and will eventually return to it.
Tuesday the 13th is just as unlucky as Friday the 13th.
do not pick up mirrors or combs you find on the street, they belong to a witch which has placed a curse on them.
fortune telling is real, and you should be wary of having your future told to you.
during the christening party of a child, they will be asked to pick an object from a tray. Whatever they pick is indicative of what their future job will be.
moreover, you can guess what your future husband will look like with a small ritual, where someone places nine objects under dishes and you have to pick at random three. What those three objects are will define the sort of husband you'll get. (I remember picking a comb and a mirror, but not what the third might have been.)
if your right-hand itches, you'll receive money soon. If your left-hand itches, you'll give away money soon.
if you can't stop hiccuping, somebody is talking about you behind your back.
never bring a bouquet of an even number of flowers to someone, only bring odd-numbered ones. Even-numbered bouquets are just for the dead.
always wear red on New Year, because it will bring you good luck! Red also helps defend the evil eye, so babies here often get a small red bracelet made of thread gifted to them.
if you wish for something at exactly 11:11 it will come true!
And this is not even scratching the surface tbh, but I will stop here because otherwise, this post might get way, way too long lol.
#azusachats#we have so many superstitions tbh jefjkew#but they're like so integrated by now#they're like second nature#and they're also specific to each region

The Vampire And The Hawk
Pairings : Hawks x Student! Reader
Writing Style : 3rd Person
Warning : Age Gap, Mild Cussing
Word Count : 2642
Note : In this Oneshot Dabi is Not a Villain since Endeavor is a Good Father in this AU and in this AU Hawks is adopted by the Todoroki Family so he's pretty much Endeavor's son now.
Note : Bare with Me. Your Quirk is Vampirism, So you have Midnight black hair and Crimson Red eyes on this Oneshot.
3rd Person's POV
It All started with a Mentoring Trial with Class 1-A . Everyone was hyped to know That The Pro Heroes Dabi and Hawks were assigned to their Class in teaching them how the actual field works while sharing their experience and giving advice to the Class.
Two people in Particular did not like the idea. The first one is undoubtedly Shoto knowing very well that his brothers will tease him nonstop and then there's y/n who really hated going outside because of her quirk. She hated the sun with all her being.
Her quirk is Vampirism, Meaning she pretty much has the Capabilities and Powers of a Vampire with a few minor upgrades but aside from that. She is allergic to Garlic and The Sun's Rays irritates her very sensitive skin.
And unlucky for her the training ground is on Ground Beta. Technically outside. It wasn't helping that today was extremely Sunny so now it led to her Bringing an Umbrella with her outside as she followed her class who were really enthusiastic with the idea of meeting two well known pro heroes.
" I hate this " Y/n grumbled and Shoto who was beside her couldn't help but agree.
" Come on you two! Be positive for once! Two of the most popular and not to mention good looking Heroes are here! " Mina cheered and she didn't get a positive reaction from y/n and Shoto.
Once they reached the middle of the training grounds they saw two figures standing there waiting for their arrival. One with blonde hair and the other with red crimson hair, similar to Todoroki's hair .
" It's Them! " Denki exclaimed and everyone came running towards their direction with delight and excitement leaving the two pessimistic people behind.
" Why does it have to be them? " Shoto growled.
" Why does it have to be outside? " Y/n grumbled.
" Hey! Slowpokes! You guys coming or what!? " Sero yelled at the two.
With a groan y/n slumped her shoulders hiding her face beneath the umbrella as she walked at an even slower pace.
She started cursing everything that lights up. Mostly the sun but within her train of thoughts she didn't notice a certain someone approach her.
A gloved hand grabbed the handle of her Umbrella yanking it away from her grasp and raising it above her head.
" Hey! What gives!? " Y/n hissed as she looked up , her red orbs clashing with a pair of golden ones.
" Kid, you're slowing Everyone down. Now hurry up! And stop walking around with an umbrella. Now's definitely not the time to be fancy " Hawks stated but his eyes couldn't help but admire the features of the girl before him.
Beautiful Midnight Hair with luscious curls, Big Crimson Eyes that stared right back to the depths of his soul, Delicate and Pale Skin, Captivating Lips that seemed to be Asking for his. It was actually too much because how the fuck is a First Year student so damn attractive!? .
" Excuse me? No wait.. Excuse you!? I am not being fancy you Prick! " Y/n objected his accusations while pointing at him angrily.
The man only chuckled giving her an amused smirk.
" Oh really? Then what's this doing here? Maybe I should throw it away " Hawks was about to do exactly as what he stated but he was stopped when y/n gripped his wrist.
She hissed at him showing her fangs and her red eyes glowed with menace, grabbing his chin with her free hand she forcefully turned his head to look at her at a very close and dangerous angle.
" I'm a Fucking Vampire you Little bitch but I must say. It's really bold of you to 'Tease' me but I warn you Not to do it... Don't tempt me" She whispered her lips inches away from his and he didn't know why he want to devour her lips in such a hungry way. Maybe it was because of how Suggestive her eyes are? .
Hawks's eyes couldn't leave hers the smirk on his face was long gone with his mouth slightly agape but he regained his composure and that same smug smirk from before came back to life.
Y/n rolled her eyes harshly letting go of his chin and snatching her umbrella away from the winged hero as she stalked her way towards her classmates who watched the entire scene unfold.
They were speechless because in their eyes their classmate pretty much owned the winged hero and not to mention they looked like they were about to tear each other's clothes off infront of them.
" Hawks.... I never knew you swung that way..." Dabi chuckled and the winged hero turned to him with a smirk on his face.
" I didn't know either " Hawks answered followed by a small laugh.
By now everyone was too shocked to say anything and y/n who had finally stood with her classmates gave a questioning look .
" .... I'm telling Dad about this " Shoto suddenly blurted out from the crowd and everyone turned to him.
" Shoto No... Unless you want me to show everyone what you did when you were 9 " Hawks threatened a sly smile plastered on his lips and shoto's eyes widened and it turned into a glare .
" You wouldn't " Shoto countered.
" Oh I will " Hawks Snickered.
And a glaring contest ensued between shoto and Hawks. The glares mostly coming from shoto though, since Hawks looked relaxed and unbothered.
" Ok enough you two. We're wasting Time here! Let's get started with training! " Dabi tried changing the subject and luckily everyone seemed to buy it.
_______________2 Hours Later
" So....Is it True that Vampires Can Turn into a Bat? " Hawks asked as he trailed behind y/n who tried her very best to ignore his random and very annoying comments.
Everyone was listening and watching their interaction from behind them after the physical exercise they did earlier and now they were just strolling around Ground Beta , The two heroes giving advice and telling the class their whole experience.
" If I could I would have turned into one and flew as far away as I can from you " Y/n snapped her eyes narrowed at his direction and Hawks put on a fake hurt expression that ticked the girl off.
" So... Can you Hypnotize people by Looking into their eyes like Dracula from Hotel Transylvania? Because I could get lost in your eyes forever " Hawks's Comments soon turned flirtatious and Dabi couldn't help but snort at how Terrible his brother was doing.
" If I could I would have hypnotized you to leave me the fuck alone and jump off a fucking cliff. Please stop annoying me, your very presence is pissing me off " Y/n growled glaring at Hawks who seemed unaffected by her words.
" Sheesh, your friend is really Harsh. Is she usually like that? " Dabi asked Shoto who gave him a shrug.
" She's usually like that when she's annoyed... Also because she noticed how bad of a flirt Hawks is " Shoto glanced at his older brother with a sigh.
Hawks leaned his head down over her shoulder from behind her as he glanced at the annoyed expression of the girl.
" So... Is it true? Some people on the internet claim that Vampires Sparkles--" Hawks was immediately silenced when y/n grabbed his cheeks and turned her head back to slam her lips against his in a dominating but lascivious kiss that got him going.
But the kiss ended a little bit too soon before he could even return the kiss.
" I didn't Know that the Pro Hero Hawks would actually Be interested in a Kid who's younger than him... Oh well I guess some people have nasty fantasies " Y/n's entire demeanor changed into a teasing and more playful.
The girl turned around completely her eyes hooded with an unreadable expression. Hawks's smirk began to falter as his eyes looked down to hers, His eyes flashing a hungry look.
He began to question his sanity. Was he really interested in a Kid? Well Fuck it. Call him sick but He is.
" Tell me Hawks. Wouldn't it be better to Have a woman instead of a Teenager? I suggest you start looking for one and stop playing Cat and mouse with a little girl " Y/n coaxed her index finger reaching over to brush against his lips.
Her soft skin touched his lips only to brush her finger down, staring at him with a teasing smirk on her lips, she kissed her finger that touched his lips before walking away from him.
" Holy shit.... What the Fuck was that!? " Dabi yelled and the class was rendered immobilized in their place and speechless.
Even Hawks was speechless as he stared at the retreating figure of y/n.
His emotions clashing with his growing desire for her and he knows he's pretty fucked up to like a kid but fuck everyone else he wants her and he intends to keep her.
" I don't fucking know but dude... I think I kinda got rejected " Hawks was finally able to answer but his eyes stayed glued to her figure.
" ... That was.... Highly inappropriate " Iida stated pushing his glasses back.
_____________________
It was finally lunch time and Class 1-A were of course in the Cafeteria eating.
However y/n who was happily snacking on her chocolate cake was bombarded with questions from her classmates.
" Y/n what the fuck was that "
" Do you Really Like him? "
" Oh shit that was so hot " ( mineta)
" Is that even legal? "
" That was not an appropriate interaction! "
" Guys Chill your tits. That was nothing " Y/n stated firmly but apparently she didn't notice that Dabi and Hawks were seated behind her.
" Was it really nothing baby bird? You wound me" Hawks frowned faking a pained expression as he placed his hand on his chest.
" Uhh yeah? " Y/n muttered unsure of what she should say.
" After that kiss? So now what? You're the type of girl who kisses me once and never again? " Hawks accused and y/n didn't really do anything to deny that which angered him but he was the type of person who had full control of his facial expressions and body language so it wasn't obvious but Dabi on the other hand noticed it clearly since he had known Hawks ever since he was a kid.
" That's pretty irresponsible of you Kid, Another rule of being a Hero Kids : Take responsiblity . And y/n you should take responsibility for stealing a kiss along with my heart " Hawks smirked poking her cheek.
" You know you're getting better at flirting...... Not " Y/n muttered as she scooped another small size of her cake pointing it at Hawks.
" Face it. I don't go for guys who are older than me. Sure maybe a year or two will be fine but more than 5 is a big NO NO. I like cute and young guys " Y/n smirked seeing Hawks's angered expression start to surface . Although his face was blank his eyes held anger and pain she kinda liked it.
She should probably start getting rid of her sadistic tendencies. She does like the Birdman but she wanted to tease him too.
Hawks was furious. He didn't really like how she got his hopes up and he wasn't the type to give up that easily. Now he was taught well and giving up is not an option. And the thought of her with another 'young' and 'cute' guy made his blood boil he wasn't that old but she sure as hell was making him feel like it .
He's an adult now but he doesn't know why he has the raging and jealous hormones of a teenager who foolishly fell in love at first sight. He's holding himself back from dragging her away and slamming her back against a random wall while kissing the hell out of her lips until she can't think of anything else but him.
You don't need a boy. Fuck it, you needed a Man and He was that Man. Because he'll screw up whoever tries to take his Baby bird away.
" Open up Hawks" Y/n cooed pointing her utensil at his mouth to which he replied with a glare and turning his head away
" Oh? You're butt hurt now and you refuse to talk? Ok then . Izuku say Ahh~" Y/n smiled as she turned stop Izuku who turned into a blushing mess while fearing for his life when Hawks flashed him a deadly glare.
" Come on Izuk--" Y/n was cut off mid-sentence when a gloved hand gripped her wrist and yanked her hand the other way.
Her hand now pointing at Hawks as he guided her hand up to his mouth. Opening his mouth he ate the small portion of chocolate cake on her spoon before letting go of her hand.
" I thought you didn't want to eat it? " Y/n raised a brow in amusement ignoring the intense stares of Dabi and almost Everyone in the Cafeteria.
" Oh, trust me baby bird. I'd rather eat you than any other treat in the world " Hawks grinned as he stood up bringing y/n along with him. On the other end of the table shoto was ready to cringe and Dabi held back a laugh.
" Hey Brats! Listen up! This girl here is Taken By yours truly! If any one flirts with her or even tries to take her from me... Good luck... You'll be at the Top of my list of people to eliminate ! " Hawks announced with a spine chilling tone making some people shiver.
Y/n was stupefied and couldn't utter a word.
Dabi was beyond flabbergasted he looked like a fish thrown out of the sea and directly onto the burning heat of a frying pan.
" What the hell? The fuck is wrong with you? What about your reputation?" Y/n gasped when she felt him cup her cheeks and kiss her. Right infront of everyone making the room tense up .
Y/n was stiff as Hawks let go of her staring at her with a grin on his face.
" Y-you.... " Y/n was speechless as a small hue of pink tinted her pale cheeks.
" Hawks you sick Fuck Get away from my student! " Aizawa said in fatherly tone and behind him were almight and endeavor.
" Young y/n! Is this true!? " Almight asked in disbelief.
" Well Keigo when do you want your wedding to take place? " Endeavor laughed staring fondly at his adopted son.
" Can I Marry her now? "
" Definitely No! Endeavor don't encourage him " Aizawa hissed and y/n who was too embarrassed to say anything kept trying to pry Hawks's grisly grip from her arm.
But in the end Hawks only pulled her forward pecking her lips .
" Don't try to run away from me Baby bird "

Part 2
Death x OC Office AU
(I'm so glad you guys seem to like this, thank y'all!!!)
It was only when I had gotten home and changed into pajamas that I realized my phone wasn't in my bag.
After a twenty minute search, I had decided that my phone must've fallen out when Strife pushed my bag out of the chair. I thought I'd picked up everything, but I was wrong. I didn't want to go back, so I decided that I'd call there and ask when my sisters got home. Until then, I made myself comfortable on the couch and started binging some baking competition show. It only helped a little in distracting me from my thoughts. The receptionist job had been the latest in a long line of job offers I'd been turned down for. Not even a dishwashing job had wanted me.
I didn't know why I was so unlucky with jobs, and I hated to think of how disappointed Safiya would be. She called in a few favors to get me that interview and I'd blown it. No, that asshole had done that.
Thinking about Death brought a scowl to my face, and the anger that had left me in that elevator slowly started bubbling up again.
"What's his deal," I asked myself out loud, rolling off of the couch and heading to the kitchen. "He thinks he can just treat people like that? Like they're not worth his time?" I yanked open the fridge and blew out a hard breath, shaking my head. I grabbed a blueberry yogurt and shut the fridge with a little more force than necessary. "What a prick," I grabbed a spoon out of a drawer, "and he barely even looked at my resumé.
"Like he already knew he wasn't gonna give me the job."
I slammed the drawer shut as I finished my thought and angrily shuffled back to the couch. "Who the hell does he think he is?" I plopped back down and tore the top off of my yogurt, licking it off and eating a spoonful. Why was I so bothered by this? "He probably thinks he can get away with anything because he's powerful and good looking..." I pictured his face in my mind; his strong jaw, defined cheekbones, and piercing eyes the color of fiery cinders... Not to mention the muscles hidden beneath his clothes.
Wait, what was I saying? I shook my head quickly and focused back on the show, finishing my yogurt. I just needed to get laid or something, not think about assholes. Although that was hard to do when I shared a room with a sixteen year old.
"We're home!" I jumped upright as the front door swung open, slamming into the wall as my little sister walked in. The action reminded me of Strife and I couldn't help but let out a soft snort. Neema tossed her backpack onto the couch next to me and fell into the recliner, swinging her legs over one of the armrests. "Today was absolutely terrible." I arched a brow at her and smiled.
"Oh, and why is that?" I asked, moving her bag to the floor.
"Go ahead and tell her why I had to leave work to come grab you," Safiya said grumpily, locking the front door. She had a bag of groceries in one hand.
"I told you it wasn't my fault! I didn't start it, I just finished it." I looked between the two, noticing the disapproving glance Safiya gave her. Neema rolled her eyes and looked at me. "Some girls were picking on Lyriel and calling her a half breed, so I hit them."
"Not only did you hit them, you broke one of their noses!"
"They deserved it! No one calls Lyriel a half breed and gets away with it!" I cracked a small smile at her outburst.
"Well I think it was justified," I said, reaching over to high five her. Safiya groaned and went into the kitchen, muttering something under her breath. I chuckled and propped my feet up on the coffee table. "So, was Lyriel grateful for you defending her? Maybe she gave you a little kiss on the cheek?" I laughed as Neema's light brown cheeks started to redden, her eyes narrowing in annoyance.
"Shut up," she muttered. "You know she didn't."
"She might have if you told her you liked her." Neema groaned and shifted in the chair, rolling her eyes at me.
"She's my friend; I can't just tell her I've had a huge crush on her for the last five years! What if it ruins our friendship? What if she only likes boys? Do you know how awkward that'd be?"
"Hey, you'll never know unless you take the leap!" She picked up the recliner pillow and threw it at me, a smile gracing her face. I laughed and blocked it from hitting me, clutching the pillow to my stomach. Neema's crush was so cute, but I understood her hesitation. The one time I'd confessed to my friend I'd liked him, he told me he was disgusted by the thought of dating a human, and then had slowly disappeared from my life. Not the best example for her.
"What about you? Why haven't you gone out with anyone," she asked, quick to change the subject.
"I have to focus on finding a job before I go back to dating," I answered, throwing the pillow back at her. It hit her in the face and she laughed, tucking it under her legs. "I can't focus on dating when I can't even afford to help chip in around here."
"Speaking of job," Safiya piped in, appearing from the kitchen. "How did the interview go? Did you get the job?" My smile fell and I thinned my lips, leaning back against the couch. Safiya sighed disappointedly and took a seat next to me. "Really? Again?"
"It wasn't my fault," I rushed out. "The dude made me wait an hour and he was a total asshole!"
"Was he hot," Neema asked. "The hot ones are always assholes."
"Smokin'." She 'ahh'd' and nodded, shooting a finger gun at me.
"It doesn't matter if he was an asshole or not," Safiya hissed. She rubbed her temples and leaned back. She suddenly looked very tired, and I felt even worse about my actions earlier; I might've been able to talk him into hiring me if I hadn't flipped out. "We barely have enough to pay rent this month. I don't know what we're gonna do for food until my next paycheck; I spent the rest of our money on food for this week." Neema frowned and crawled out of the chair, coming over and pulling Safiya into her arms.
"We'll be okay," she reassured her. "We're always okay, and if I need to, I can try applying at McDonalds or something." Safiya sniffled and patted her back, shaking her head. Now I was feeling even worse.
"I left my phone there on accident," I said softly. "I'll go back tomorrow and try to talk with the guy again. I'll apologize and maybe he'll give me a janitorial position or something." Safiya smiled a little and grabbed my hand, giving it a squeeze. "I'm sorry, Saf."
"You don't have anything to be sorry for," she said, squeezing my hand again. "I've just been stressed lately. I'm trying to get as much overtime as possible and taking double shifts left and right. I guess I've just been burning myself out. I'm sorry for being so upset with you..." I gave her a small smile and crawled over, joining my sisters in a hug. Safiya laughed and wrapped one of her arms around me. "We'll just have to make it work.
"It's nothing we haven't faced before, right?" Neema and I voiced our agreement and the three of us stayed like that for a while, just hugging each other. I would definitely be going back to that place tomorrow, and I'd do everything in my power to try and get a job, even if I had to suck someone's dick; I had to do something to help my family out.
We untangled ourselves after ten minutes, Safiya excusing herself to go change out of her work clothes. Neema and I laid back on the couch, flipping through Netflix and Hulu to decide what to watch next.
"We're not watching another cupcake show," she said, trying to grab the remote from my hand.
"We're not watching another anime either," I replied, moving the remote further away from her. "You got to watch it all day yesterday!"
"I'm only halfway through Fullmetal Alchemist!" I opened my mouth to tell her too bad when there was a loud knock on the door.
"Can one of you get that?" Safiya shouted from her room. Neema and I stared at each other.
"You get it," I said, still holding the remote away from her.
"No, you get it," she said, struggling to grab the device from me. "I had a long and hard day at school."
"I had a long and emotional day being interviewed." She scoffed and crawled on top of me, grabbing for the remote. I laughed and pushed against her, stretching my arm as far out as I could.
"Gee, thanks you two," Safiya said, appearing from down the hall. She walked past us and plucked the remote from my hand, continuing to the door. Neema and I both whined and turned to see who was here. She set the remote on the side table next to the door and opened it. "Hello, what do you wa-?" She stopped suddenly, her face paling slightly. Neema and I stretched our necks, trying to see who was at the door.
"Is it another door to door salesman," Neema asked, crawling onto me again to try and see. I grunted and fell against the couch, groaning.
"Get your big butt off of me," I demanded, voice muffled by the couch cushions. I could barely see Safiya.
"Good evening," a familiar voice said. "Is Miss Banks here?"
"Depends on which one you're asking for," Safiya answered, seeming to have recovered from her momentary shock.
"I met her earlier today and it seems she forgot something." It suddenly clicked.
"What the fuck is he doing here," I whispered, shimmying out from under my sister. I climbed over the back of the couch and ran to the door to make sure I was correct. Sure enough, there was Death, looking as handsome and calm as he had when I'd first met him. His eyes met mine and I bit down on my tongue, holding back the tirade of curses I wanted to let loose on him. You have to stay calm, I reminded myself. Try and get a job.
"Nice to see you again, Miss Banks," Death said, looking me up and down slowly. I suddenly became aware of the fact I was wearing unicorn pajamas shorts and had not one ounce of makeup on. Embarrassing, to say the least. Not that I'd let him know that. I placed my hands on my hips and tipped my head up.
"Mister... Death, sir," I replied, immediately wanting to crawl into a hole afterwards. He chuckled and I felt my cheeks warm, the urge to run away starting to creep up on me.
"Sir is just fine." I snorted and Safiya smacked the back of my head, warning me to behave.
"Would you like to come in?" she asked politely.
"For a moment, if it's not too intrusive." She waved him words away and stepped aside, pulling me with her when I made no move to let him in. He entered slowly, looking around. What, was our apartment not nice enough for him? Was he going to berate the decor? "You have a lovely home."
"Thank you, can I offer you some water?"
"No, thank you, I won't be here for long. I just came to see Aziza." The way my name rolled off his tongue gave me a weird sensation, like feathers tickling my skin. He looked at me suddenly and I briefly wondered if he'd somehow noticed what his voice had done to me. "Can we speak in private?" I wanted to tell him no, to twist his arm behind his back and throw him out like he'd had Amber do to me, but I couldn't; if there was any way I could possibly get a job, I had to bite my tongue and be a good girl. I nodded at him and motioned for him to follow me, heading to mine and Neema's room.
Our room wasn't the cleanest, honestly, but it was about as private as we could get. He walked in after me and closed the door, looking over the room with a disapproving stare.
"Why did you come," I asked, knowing that both of my sisters were probably eavesdropping. Death reached into his pants pocket and pulled out a cellphone; my cellphone, to be exact.
"I heard this meowing under my desk," he said. I blushed and took the phone from him, muttering a thank you. "I'm sorry about my brother; he's always an asshole."
"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree apparently," I muttered. His eyes narrowed and I sighed, my shoulders dropping. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean that."
"Yes you did, don't apologize." His words were matter of fact but there was a kindness in his tone. "I... Regret, how I acted today. The way I treated you wasn't entirely fair." Was that an apology I was hearing? "The truth is, I hate hiring new people.
"I've been avoiding finding someone new for a while now." I cracked a small smile; I could understand that. "Amber informed me that I might have been too harsh, though I don't see how." My smile dropped slightly; he was really bad at apologizing. "I took another look at your file. I think there might be something you can offer to me after all." I perked up slightly.
"I'll see you at 9 AM sharp, Monday morning," he finished. He nodded and turned, opening the door. Neema and Safiya stumbled into the room, falling over each other. Death looked down and them and then to me, smirking. "Apple doesn't fall far from the tree." I couldn't hold back the giggle that rose in me. He said goodbye to the girls and stepped over them, heading to the door.
I ran into the hallway. "Wait, does this mean I got the job?" I called after him.
"Why else would I tell you to come?" I smiled, my lips stretching across my face. He waved without looking back and shut the door behind him as he left. I was buzzing now.
"Wait, he gave you the job?" Neema asked, sounding as shocked as I was. I turned to them and nodded.
"I have a job!" I jumped onto them, joining them on the floor. We hugged each other tightly, Safiya screaming about how happy she was. This was my golden opportunity right here and now I couldn't blow it.
I wouldn't blow it.

Christmas Angel (Spn Gabriel X Reader)
@freakygirlforeve7-blog-blog. Suggested
So sorry this took so long, my house got a bit busy working on Christmas gifts and for some reason this story took me a bit to actually come up with lol. But I hope you enjoy it! 😊
Warnings: Slight angst, fluff
Pairings: Gabriel x Reader
Words: 2,355
You wiped your eyes while you wandered around, the light snow falling softly, dusting your hair and shoulders as you called once more for your dog. How many years would this happen? How many more loved ones would you lose? You felt cursed, afraid that you were simply meant to be alone. The first year had been your grandmother, the next year, your beloved family cat (C/N), then your grandfather, then your oldest dog (D/N), then your aunt, and now your other dog (D/N), every year around Christmas you always lost someone close, and the weight of it crushed even the smallest spark of "Christmas spirit".
The holiday was done for you, long since lost it's magic, and you dreaded it every year. Sighing, you sat down on a nearby park bench and tried to warm your hands. You had been looking for (D/N) for days, and still no trace of them, it was like they just vanished into thin air. While lost in thought, you hadn't noticed the stranger approach the bench, so it started you when a voice spoke up.
"Why so down sugarplum?"
Looking up you were met with the most beautiful whiskey eyes.
"Oh...Um" you started, but couldn't find the words and couldn't break your gaze. He quirked an eyebrow, a small smirk gracing his lips while he watched you fumble for a sentence. Finally you seemed to find the willpower to stop staring and instead look at the ground.
"My dog is lost...So I'm out looking for them" You replied, fighting back the tears, you didn't need to break down in front of him.
"Awe I'm so sorry sugar, how long have they been missing?" He asked, looking up at him again he looked genuinely concerned.
"A couple of days, I'm hoping...Since today had been the first day it snowed" you trailed off, not wanting to even voice your concerns, though, the way your life was...You knew that was the most likely of outcomes.
"Why don't I help you look for them?" He offered after a moment.
"Oh no it's ok really"
"Nonsense buttercup" he dismissed you, before adding.
"Besides, with two people we're bound to find the pooch sooner right?" He smiled, you finally took a good look at the man; he looked like he was maybe in his early thirties, light golden brown hair, whiskey colored eyes, a gray t-shirt, leather jacket and blue jeans...honestly...He was hot.
"I suppose you're right" you smiled back, standing from the bench.
"I'm (y/n)" you smiled
"My dog's name is (D/N)"
"Gabriel" he replied, coming to stand beside you.
"Let's start our search for the infamous (D/N)" he added with a wink and held out his arm for you. With a smile you took it and the two of you began your search. He asked you where you usually take your dog after the park, you replied with your old house, having grown up in that neighborhood, you still knew a lot of people there and visited often. While you both made your way towards the neighborhood, Gabriel made small talk, asking things like what kind of music did you like? Favorite foods? Simple things, you also found out he worked at a local college.
"So how come you moved?" He asked once you entered the neighborhood and began looking around for (D/N).
"My parents and I lived there with my grandma, it was my mom's childhood home, but after my grandmother passed, my mom said it was too painful living there...So we moved" You explained, remembering how your grandmother had been the first in this long line to pass.
"I'm sorry for your loss" he spoke while running his thumb over the hand that was still wrapped around his arm, surprisingly it helped hold back the tears.
"How long ago did she pass?"
"Six years" he nodded, both of you falling silent as you continued to walk, still searching for (D/N). You stopped a few moments later, looking up at the old house that held so many memories. You remembered growing up on that porch swing, taking the stairs inside two at a time much to your mother's worry. You remembered playing hopscotch on the driveway, coming home from school, learning to drive here...even having your first kiss on those very same front porch steps.
Gabriel dragged you from your swimming thoughts with a tap on the arm, looking over at him he pointed to the front gate which was open.
"I take it no one lives here soo...Worth a shot right?" He asked before pulling you into the yard to check around the house.
"I bet you always had a lot of fun around this time of the year" he stated from in front of you, still walking along the house.
"Why would you guess that?"You asked, honestly confused, he simply shrugged. Before answering.
"You just seem like the type who likes Christmas is all" he looked back at you with a smile, and in that moment you wondered if he was being honest, or teasing you about your sour disposition. But his words did bring back more memories, ones of you, your mother and grandmother all in the kitchen baking cookies and pies. It was something you all loved to do, and it became a tradition around Christmas time. You used to joke and say that you were going to grow up and become a baker...But lately you didn't have the drive to do much of anything...Feeling like it wouldn't even matter in the end. As you finished rounding the house, your shoulders slumped, still no sign of (D/N). Seeing your saddened expression, Gabriel rested his hand on your shoulder, causing you to once again get lost in his gaze.
"Hey, we still have plenty of daylight, let's keep looking" he smiled, you gave a small smile back before you both continued on your way, you explained that you would also walk (D/N) into town sometimes, so you both began walking towards town. Gabriel started up the simple conversations once more, it surprised you how easy it was to talk to him, like he was an old friend, it also surprised you how comfortable you were around him, a stranger you had only met earlier that day. He was the jokester type, that was for sure, and he could easily put a smile on your face which he seemed to enjoy doing because every time your laughter would die down you would catch him staring at you, a small smile on his own lips.
"Come on! You have to have some big plans for the future. I know! An actress, no no, a model, ya know, why not both?" He teased after you had stated that you didn't know what to do in life.
"I don't see either of those things in the cards for me" you gave a slight laugh, eyes looking forward at the lighted window displays inside each shop, the sun had set only a little bit ago, and now the town was lit by joyous Christmas scenes.
"Why not? You're beautiful enough" he replied, catching you off guard and your cheeks to reddened not just from the cold. Your eyes met his whiskey ones again, though this time the twinkling lights surrounding you both made them constantly shift between whiskey and honey, and you found yourself getting lost in them just as you had that morning. Gabriel was so far, as cliche as it sounded, what you had always looked for in a guy, sweet, caring, a sense of humor, and very easy on the eyes. There was this strange pull to him, and an odd sense of safety and...home...That you hadn't felt in a long time. But the nagging reminder of your unlucky life had you looking away, already knowing that the two of you wouldn't work, you were doomed to be alone if fate had anything to do with it.
"Thank you, but...How my life is…Nothing good will ever come my way"
"What do you mean (Y/N)?" He asked, the first time he used your actual name all day. You sighed, unsure if you should unload all this emotional baggage on him, but one look back at him brought back that sense of safety, like you could tell him anything and he would make it better. Looking down at the ground you started.
"You were wrong...When you said I looked like someone who liked Christmas...I did, at one point. But after everything..The first year I lost grandmother, the next year, the family cat (C/N), then my grandfather passed, then my oldest dog (D/N), then my aunt died, and now (D/N) is missing, every year around Christmas I always lose someone close. So that's why Christmas has lost its luster, and that's why I don't see anything good happening for me in the future...Fate doesn't like me very much." You sighed, never once looking up at him...You wouldn't be surprised if he left, he would probably fear for his own life, after all, you were like walking bad luck. So when he grabbed your hands, you quickly looked up, seeing that small smile on his face.
"Screw fate, you've had some horrible things happen, and for that I really am sorry, but if there is anything I have learned from living amongst people...in this town" he laughed.
"It's that people can change their lives at any moment, no matter what plans some divine cosmic being has in store for them" he stated, and even though he still had that smile, the conviction in his voice made him seem like he knew much more than he showed.
"What did you always want to be?" He asked, confusing you as you looked at him, tilting your head slightly.
"You said no to model and actress, though I still think you could absolutely do both" he stated with a wink.
"So what did little Y/N always want to do when she grew up?"
"I...wanted to be a baker" you answered, blushing slightly at the awed expression he gave you.
"You are even more perfect than I imagined" he whispered causing you to laugh.
"Then be a baker! Look!" He dragged you over to an empty shop.
"This could be yours, I can see it now Y/N's tasty treats" he motioned across the glass, earning another laugh from you.
"You seem like a strong and stubborn person, don't let some silly little thing like fate stop you sugarplum" he stated, returning to your side, you looked at him again, getting lost in his gaze for what felt like the millionth time that day, the smile never leaving your lips as you asked.
"Then what led us to meet?" You asked
"I've been to that park almost everyday,I've never once seen you" you added.
"You'd have remembered me?" He asked, wiggling his eyebrows and causing you to giggle again.
"Of course" you smirked.
"Well, maybe fate decided to be nice for once" he shrugged.
"Well...I'm glad" you smiled.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, I'm really glad I met you today Gabriel"
"I'm glad we met too sugar" he smiled, and again, the feeling of home swept over you, maybe fate was being nice for once, maybe your luck was finally turning around, maybe just maybe…
"Awww" a woman stated while she and her boyfriend passed by, looking over at them for a moment you looked back at Gabriel confused, he simply smiled and pointed up. Right above your heads, hanging from a tree branch was a small piece of mistletoe. Blushing you looked back at Gabriel who simply shrugged.
"Only if you want to sugarplum" smiling, you slowly leaned in, Gabriel meeting you halfway, and your heart feeling like it wasn't shattered for the first time in years. His hands rested on your hips while yours rested on his shoulders, the kiss deepening while only one thought crossed your mind...Maybe you didn't have to be alone.
Breaking the kiss you rested your forehead against his, smiling while you tried to catch your breath.
"Wow" you spoke after a moment, causing him to laugh.
"I'll take that as a complement, and right back at cha sugarplum" he smiled. Maybe he was right, maybe fate was a silly thing, but at that moment you were happy it led you to him. Just as you were about to state that though, you felt something brush against your leg, and upon looking down you couldn't stop the tears.
"D/N!" You cried out, dropping to your knees and hugging the dog, their smiling face making you smile as well.
"The mystery of the missing D/N has been solved! Good work agent Y/N" Gabriel joked, getting down to pet D/N as well. You looked over at him and felt your breath hitch, from here, the Christmas lights gave him an ethereal glow, almost...Angelic in a way. That thought had you giggling at how accurate it was. A Christmas angel.
"What's up sugarplum?"
"Nothing...It's just...You're kind like mine and D/Y's guardian angel" you blushed and looked at D/N, but caught the smile Gabriel gave you from the corner of your eye.
"Anytime you need me" he whispered to you, placing a soft kiss on your cheek before standing up.
"Now how about I escort you two home safely huh? After all, as your angel I have my duties" he stated with a wink, holding out his hand for you.
"Just angel duties?" You asked as you stood up.
"Well...I've always been one to mix business and pleasure" he smirked, wrapping his arm around you while the two of you began to walk, D/N trotting happily beside you both. Looking over at him once more you couldn't help but smile...Yeah...Fate finally decided to be nice to you, and maybe this Christmas wouldn't be so bad.
I hope you all enjoyed it! Let me know what you think!
Also I was largely inspired by this quote.
