Some people have been lurking on my blog lately (hi!!! :D) so I might as well ask- does anyone know the trope name on TVtropes (if it exists) or some examples (if it does not) for when a person notices Something Is Very Wrong and sends out a distress signal, but by the time help arrives, they’ve been assimilated?

I found it really compelling in TAZ Graduation when Althea Song arrived from the Heroic Oversight Guild only to find Fitzroy already sworn to secrecy and have been looking for media with similar plotlines. The first chapter or so of the Lightning Thief, when Grover keeps telling Percy there are no monsters, and then Percy’s whole life becomes monsters, is kind of this trope. The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals also has this trope, but only in the last 5 minutes lol. There’s a hint of it in Dead Space 2 and the Truman show, but I’m looking for something that something that focuses on this a bit more than that, like a Twilight Zone episode or smth.

Anyways, if you can think of any examples at all I would love to hear them!!!! It’s such an interesting plotline and I’d love to see it explored more!
