what are your thoughts on cryde’s first date!!
Oooh okay so !! I have a few different thoughts and ideas of what it could be, but at this moment I’m really loving this:
At first, they plan for a stereotypical “date” that’s meant to be romantic and all. It’s just the label of date that has them aiming for this — they both know they don’t need to do the whole “hey you free on Friday??” thing, but hey. Go big or go home, right?
They get some pizza for dinner (they’re sorta broke) at some place Craig recommends, because he thinks their pizza is the best in South Park. Then, they see some random movie that’s playing in theaters; Clyde picks it out, since Craig chose dinner.
Honestly, at first, it’s… a little bit awkward. It’s just the idea that they’re on a date. They both feel this strange, unnatural need to be formal, like… official. But they have so many years as “just friends”, that it’s a little hard to transition into being… well, something else. Something different.
But anyway! The movie is supposed to be a funny romcom. It’s okay, but not great. It was a good time waster, and Clyde got a kick out of the lame jokes. Even Craig found himself smiling and huffing out some laughs.
After everything, without the distraction of some cheesy movie, things feel a bit weird again. They’re not really sure what to do next. So, Clyde suggests they go back to his house and play some video games or something. Craig thinks that sounds like a great idea, and it is still a Friday night, so… they do just that!!
And it’s at Clyde’s house, around three in the morning, when they both kinda realize… this does feel normal.
Maybe they’re sitting a little closer than usual. Maybe their hands are a little sweaty. Maybe the room feels a little hotter, and maybe the air around them has changed. But. It’s… fine. It’s natural. It’s normal. It feels so normal, like this is what their relationship was always meant to progress towards.
It’s… just perfectly the way things are meant to be between them. And they’re gonna be just fine.
(and when they get married in their late 20s THEN WHAT)
