there's a bewildering phenomenon where friends-- my DMs even, sometimes-- imply that I'm a Twenty Page Full Paragraphs Backstory Guy, and I very sincerely do not know how or why this happens when I have fifteen dnd blorbos whose backstories are all 'uhhhh they did. things. and they like stuff. and now they are here' like I am a simple idiot and the world's worst 'NO story ONLY concept' bitch are you KIDDING ME?? you've SEEN my backstory! you KNOW this!!!

#I fucking WISH I was a full novella backstory guy!! christ!! that'd be SO much better and more satisfying and interesting #having a solid background to draw from makes roleplaying so much better AND easier but I am so fucking bad at it #I come up with a guy I like and then work backwards usually just enough to justify them and y'all that is typically not very much #this post brought to you by me desperately trying to wring anything out of my brain for felix #because the one major backstory element he had originally was built collaboratively with my DM for her setting specifically #and new DM is not WORKING WITH ME on building it anew and by the nature of the thing I can't just do it by myself and say 'okay here'#so like. alright if I want anythiiiing for him I need to come up with some additional things I GUESS #aauughhh. HARD. I already came up with two whole things I just need the DM to place them in the setting 😩#about me #my OCs
