Things I realized I forgot to post part 200 billion (this one's from september wow)

I'm an eternal digger of good narrative techniques. A decent story becomes great in my eyes if the narrative is done right. And it's one of the hardest things to do really, since there's no one-size-fits-all rule for what technique works well with a particular story and what doesn't. One of the primary reasons I keep obsessing over Lovely Runner is its' narrative technique. In all honesty, if it had a linear, singular narrative, I would not be hyperventilating over it on a constant basis (I still would just a certain amount, because both Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon deserve awards for what they are doing). One reason it has managed to knock it out off the park and take the top spot in my forever-favorite list is how wonderfully well the narrative is done.

The primary perspective used in this show is Im Sol's. It's through her we're introduced to the story. Her perspective gives shape to the plot, the characters, because we learn things through her. Her perspective is absolutely critical for exposition. Without her thoughts and way of viewing things, you would never realize why saving Seon Jae means so much to her, or why she would bend the rules and bulldoze ahead when it comes to his safety (exhibit A, her leaving home on the day of the accident, despite knowing about her fate). She'd rather have him alive than have him in her life. Without her narrative, you'd think it's really all about a fan saving her idol (thanks to everyone who'd rejected the script listening to that pitch by the way, I'm grateful we have BWS and KHY as the leads because of that, I would not change it for anyone else). With Im Sol's perspective, you realize, she is not just a fan: she's an ardent admirer, a cheerleader, a well-wisher, a protector, an invisible friend trying to support her friend any way she can, someone who respects Seon Jae, sees him as an idol but also as a human, someone who wants to give back to him the same kindness, empathy and love she had once received from him over a radio call. To her, Seon Jae is first a guardian angel and then an idol, the angel who changed her view of life, made her appreciate things even amidst all that could be wrong with the world and her life. He saved her. Not just on that day at the hospital but every time she struggled and faltered since then, he was there, as invisible as it may have been. So this time, she wants to save him, no matter the price.

Then comes Seon Jae. Oof. If Im Sol's perspective gives the story its beautiful, beautiful shape, Seon Jae's perspective breathes literal life in to the body of the story. The show wouldn't be what it is today if not for his perspective. Without his view into things, Im Sol appears as a fangirl going to extreme measures to save her idol, clinging onto him like a monkey (yes I mean the poster) embarrassing the heck out of herself, making you cringe (in a good, enjoyable way) throughout. Then you reach the end of episode 2 and it knocks the breath out of you because WHAT DO YOU EVEN MEAN. It all clicks.

All this while we kept thinking Seon Jae was caught off guard and just kind enough to tolerate her antics, and maybe he'd slowly fall for her now, only to realize we were completely oblivious to a whole different side of the story. If Im Sol's narrative draws you in and keeps you hooked, making you root for her to succeed, it's Seon Jae's narrative that makes you irredeemably fall in love with them and sincerely, genuinely, desperately hope they get their happy ending together after all the storm.

And the motifs. Walking/running, for instance. I'll focus on just one scene here. I recall seeing a bts where KHY is discussing the OG 2008 accident scene, and it explains how she has to slow down, while running away, for just a moment, only to be hit by the taxi driver. Have you ever been in a situation of absolute panic, desperation and stress, then suddenly found a familiar face or a name or a thing you could connect to, and felt a wave of relief rush through you? She sees Seon Jae, a person who is calling out her name. Even if she didn't know him back then, the fact that he knew her (and that he had his uniform on), gives her a sense of safety she badly needed that moment. That momentary relief, so visible in her features, then overtakes the crippling fear she felt running in the middle of nowhere with no one in sight in the dead of the night. Her body, already exhausted beyond anything, responds to the relief she feels for those few seconds, slowing down her steps.

And that is when she is caught off-guard and hit. That also might have added to Im Sol's anger at the hospital when she is screaming at Seon Jae, her internal anguish that if only she had not paused seeing Seon Jae, and kept on running, then maybe she wouldn't be hit, wouldn't fall, wouldn't lose her ability to walk. It's one thing to have tropes and symbolic things, but it's a very different thing to know how to use them effectively so they elicit very specific types of emotions/reactions out of people. Lovely Runner excels in that. All kdramas more or less have 'things' that take on different meanings for the couples/viewers. It's the way motifs are used to narrate the story in this one that has me going back over and over again to all the episodes aired so far. These are not just their 'things', these are 'things' that drive the plot forward, tell you about their characters, their personal motivations, what they mean to each other and so much more.

This is getting longer that I intended it to be so will end with this. I feel valued when watching Lovely Runner. And I've seen people saying the same thing. It feels like they respect your critical thinking skills, and your ability to infer, so they don't spoon-feed you everything from the get-go, and you can't predict much despite it being primarily a rom-com. You'd be pulling your hair out (again, in a good way) trying to figure out what they will show next, and you will be somewhat or very far from the truth, which will compel you to think further about the story, the characters, long after an episode has aired...I can't remember the last time it happened with a drama. I love this storytelling.

Some Murder Deer headcanons

oh nooo please don't get dragged into the deer AU haha... unless...

here's some headcanons & ideas I got while drawing these funky lil' cervidae! enjoy... I guess?!

The Deers in general

They're considered "fawns" until the age of 18 years, then they're "bucks" or "does". A gender neutral term does exist in their species - it's simply "cervi".

Their antlers break in (regardless of biological sex) between 15 and 17 years of age.

Antler size can be inherited, but they're mostly fairly small.

Fawns keep their fawn spots as late as 25 years of age. The longer they persist, the smaller the fawns usually are in "final" height. Uzi's e.g stayed until she was 25 and she's fairly small for her species.

Copper-9 & the Absolute Solver

The entire story sets place on an earth-like exoplanet that - similar to alot of xenofiction (e.g Guardians of Ga'hoole) - has one main race populating the planet (in this case, species of the cervidae family)

The Absolute Solver is an Eldritch Organism that is fascinated by the different kinds of mammals and species on exoplanets, slowly incooperating itself into different planets, imitating their populating species and slowly rotting the planet from the core until it is no more.

On Copper-9 it finds the many cervidae looking creatures, taking on the shape of a musk deer like entity (no antlers, sharp canines, for some reasons wants to devour flesh) - seeing how alot of the main individuals have antlers it develops a secondary obsession with antlers.

The AS incooperates the body of a deceased deer, Cyn, which it found rotting away in a forest. After taking the corpse and making it it's host body it found a small 'family' (herd) of deer which included Tessa, a young doe aged 20 that isn't opposed to welcome new indiviuals into the herd. Her parents however, the leading pair of the herd, do not agree and cast "Cyn"/AS aside.

Intruiged by Tessa's welcoming presence despite the herd's cold aura the AS slowly managed to gain her trust by meeting, playing the role of a young doe lost alone in this world ("Cyn") - and Tessa takes the bait easily.

Long yap session short story, the AS kills Tessa, eats her remains and removes her antlers to fuse them to itself, as well as parts of her fur to appear more like her, hoping it could "become" her in a twisted sense of identity seeking.

The Solvers emblem appears on the "users" forehead and they can use it to regenerate and telepathically carry things around with them. An infected user needs blood to sustain themselves as they'll throw up anything that isn't blood or flesh (for example, the deer on Copper-9 eat a plant based diet).

Solver Users/hosts also grow elongated canines and sharp teeth similar to "Cyn"/AS and it's musk deer body.

The Disassembly Squads

The AS creates the Disassembly "Drones" like it did in the OG story, shaping them after deer. Similar to the OG DDs their true eyes sit on their antlers while the ones in their faces are just to blend in (well... as much as they blend in looking like they do LOL).

The DDs are created from slaughtered members of Tessa's former herd, including N(ari), V(erika) and J(ane).

The DDs also have long canines and eat flesh. They're larger than normal deer and while not capable of flight (lack of wings) they're extremely agile and fast, able to quickly outmaneuver their prey.

N, V and J have fragmented memories of their former lives before being killed and rebuilt which do haunt them. J and V suffer the most from this, N is spared for the most part.

J was Tessa's best friend and almost-partner back before they were all slaughtered, and she still remembers this. "Cyn"/AS promises J to bring back Tessa if she does what it commands of her - trusting it to keep it's word. It doesn't. Doomed Yuri.

J is killed off fairly early by Khan when he chases them out of the forest as he manages to pierce her heart with his antlers, which does kill the DDs - usually alot of deer's antlers are too short, but Khan's cool, so he has very big ones. B)

Uzi & her family

They're now called "Doemans" (yes, you may slap me) - and live in a fairly protected herd away from most dangers in a hidden forest.

Nori was killed by N but returned as ghostly entity. She lost her eye in a battle with "Cyn" but was able to escape before being destroyed - she now serves as some sort of guardian for the Cathedral the humans once inhabited, wearing a cross she found as roseary around her neck; knowing it holds the key to kill the AS.

Khan raised Uzi alone and is the main leader of the herd, thus he's a BADASS in this AU. He won't hesitate to fight N when he tried to kill off Uzi, even being able to chase him off.

Uzi is a late bloomer in regards to her antlers - most fawns get them between the age of 15-17 years, Uzi still hasn't gotten her's at the age of 19 and feels extremely sensitive about this topic. Do not mention it unless you want her to cry internally. She gets mocked over this by some of the fawns in her age range. :'))

Khan doesn't allow Uzi to go outside of the forest's borders until her antlers grow in. She hates this - and sneaks out (only to meet N, V and J - whoops!)

Due to her missing antlers N doesn't really recognize her as prey, so he is friendly until V and J are like "dude that's still a deer?? fucking idiot??" and he's like "but she's so nice to me :'(("

That's when you run, Uzi. And have your dad fight N. And win. Because in this AU he doesn't suck!! >:(

Uzi gets the Solver from her mother like in the OG, where Nori is infected by "Cyn" during their fight. It activates during N's attack on her.

Other people

Doll also has her Solver in this AU! She and her family originate from a different part of Copper-9 and lived with different herds which is why their language differs from those in Khan's herd. They mainly got along by communicating through body language :D

Yeva & Nikolai, her parents, where killed by V when they attempted to leave the forest for food. Doll escaped because V didn't spot the fawn hiding in the tall grass - and this activated Doll's Solver. Ever since she's wandering about alone, trying to find a cure for herself. She also loses her eye in another quarrel later on.

Doll's fate is similar to the OG show with "Cyn" eating her corpse after killing her in a vunerable position.

Lizzy & Thad are also around and they're siblings! They're the first fawns in the herd to tag along with Khan to help and find Uzi. Lizzy is still the chattermouth she is in the show and Thad likes to be active. It's the deer ADHD. Their father is the teacher (who isn't a teacher to be exact in this AU... but something similar B))

Werewolf Ahuska hasn't been in a position to send or receive texts in a long while (everyone around her keeps saying silly things like 'not safe'), and she probably destroyed the one she was using while living on Concord Dawn (after everyone around her said things like 'safer this way'). There might be some messages that bounced back to their senders after here abrupt departure from the little community that had somewhat accepted the quaint little bothan hermit who lived up in the mountains...

1- "Sorry to hear you had to leave with such urgency. The kids ask after you and Spirit every day. You're welcome at our table any time." (from the rodian whose art studio Ahuska worked in for a little while to earn some extra cash)

They keep locking themselves inside their houses during the night and don't go into the forest anymore, but that's ok she will find a way to help them ascend too. made ankha in the same style as the pokemon, gonna make around 10 in this style for notebook covers for EE Comic Con if I get accepted. I played a mafia game a while back with animal crossing theme, i didn't know the game so i checked a list of the characters before selecting which i wanted for my avi, and Ankha stood out instantly from the crowd. Since then i wanted to draw her.

Also funny thing my friends call me a pervert and afer i selected ankha for my avi they all went like "oh ofc she goes for the most nsfw one". I WAS SO CONFUSED! Then i googled her and saw she was popular among nsfw artists and was like hey i get it egypt + cat = sexy, then discovered the animation (the dance one) and was like oh ok this went viral that's why she's extra popular. And Y-day while i was drawing her i listened to the camel dance on repeat and afer that finished a video came up where they explained the OG story behind her popularity AND I WAS SHOCKED. So yea I was y-day years old when I found out, but makes sense since I'm a perv. MIGHT

Remade my short blrub form 2019 I wrote the OG before Chat Blanc aired so now with new knowledge I can write a better version of ym old short, idk if I'll write more yet I'll see how well this one does and go form there. Gonna update the art too...it's so bad.

Marinette's eyes were glued to the screen on her desk, her knees were pressed up to her chest as she sat sunken her pink computer chair. Fear and disbelief in her blue bell eyes while the rest of her body stayed frozen in place. Biting her lower lip she watched the reporter Nadja Chamack inform the public of the current disaster terrorizing Paris. Normally this would be Marinette's call to action; to dawn her Ladybug persona and swing off into the heart of the city to deal with the oncoming treat it was her job after all.

As one half of the dynamic duo responsible for keeping all Parisians safe she has to go out there and face this new evil. But no she found herself frozen in shock and fear as she read the title of the new broadcast “Chat Noir Turned Evil? Paris in danger!”. She couldn't believe it, no she <i>wouldn't</i> believe it! Chat Noir would never turn his back on Paris and harm innocent people! This was her partner, her friend, and fellow hero! There's no way he would have turned evil on his own! It had to be Hawkmoth's doing! Her heart was racing or maybe it was aching...either way it was all she could hear anymore as the sound of her heart beat started to drown out everything around her.

Tikki floated beside her holder's head worry in her eyes as she watched Marinette sit as still as a statue. She too looked at the screen, as she did her antenna perked up before she looking to Marinette again and spoke.

“Marinette! We should go shouldn't we?”

Tikki waited for a response but didn't receive one so she tried again.

“Marinette...we have to go now! Or Paris may really be doomed!”

Once again she was met with more silence form the girl, it was like she was lost in her own mind spiralling out of control. Everything was flooding into her mind all at once; Chat Noir he must have been captured by Hawkmoth! And when he wouldn't give up what knowledge he had on Ladybug he must have been akumatized! And now the villainous Hawkmoth was using him to draw her out! She'd have to face an akumatized Chat Noir! It was like a nightmare coming true!

Tikki floated in front of her face trying to break the trace Marinette was in she placed her tiny single unit hands on Marinette's face forcing their blue eyes meeting each other, Tikki again shouted loudy.

“Marinette please! We <i>HAVE</i> to go!”

Finally, it was like the light had properly returned to her eyes again and Marinette blinked before focusing on Tikki and world around her. Sound returned and so did everything else, she shook her head quickly looking directly at Tikki who'd backed off after the head shake.

“Ti-Tikki?” Marinette rubbed her eyes as they finally focused properly allowing her to readjust to reality. “We...I-” Marinette cleared her throat and quickly stood up out of her chair, striking a heroic pose Marinette was now ready.

“We need to go!” Marinette shouted as she was about to say the transformation words to Tikki, a great booming echo launched all around her making her stumble a little. Marinette looked around in confusion as once again the dooming echo surrounded them again this time was loader then before. She grabbed onto a wall trying to steady herself as she looked around confused.

“Wh-what is that?”

Marinette asked as again the dooming echo drew closer and even more loudly causing everything in her room to shake bit by bit. Spools of thread started to tumble and roll of her sewing desk, papers and pens flew off her study while books and other objects started to fall off the shelves.

With each boom growing louder and more violent then the previous one, it finally hit her what this reminded her of...foot steps. Not just any foot steps these foot steps sounded like they belonged to something...or someone huge. Suddenly they stopped and all was still, her room was still a mess but the echoing booming had stopped.

Quickly she ran towards her rounded window to try and see just what was causing the all the commotion outside but all she was met with was a gigantic icey blue eye. She screamed and jumped back quickly losing her footing again and falling backwards onto her behind. She looked at the window again as the dark blue almond shaped iris focused on her fully. These slightly slited eyes it reminded her of a cat's eyes...Chat Noir's eyes!

“Ch-chat Noir?”

Marinette scooted back a bit form the window as the giant eye narrowed in on her, so cold and focused nothing like the warm gentle green of Chat Noir's eyes, these where the eyes of a hunter that has just found it's prey.

Suddenly the entirety of her room shook violently as the roof to her room was starting to be torn open. White clawed fingers dug into the ceiling and ripped the entirety of the roof away, the open sky above was now replaced with an enormous white gloved hand reaching down towards her. She felt like she was a mouse caught in a trap!

Marinette could barely find her nerve as the enormous fingers slowly wrapped around her body and she was scooped up and into he waiting palm of her captor. Marinette was taken out of her room and held in the hand of what looked like Chat Noir. But he was different...Chat Noir's costume was a black suit and mask with blonde hair and green eyes; this costume this Chat Noir...It was like he was bleached, he was all white form his hair to his suit the only real colour on him was his icey blue eyes, it matched with his cold aura that surrounded him...

Not to mention he was enormous! Large enough that her top of her home only reached the top of his chest, he had to have bent down a bit just to look into her window the way he did. Chat Noir brought the hand holding Marinette closer to his face this made the girl yelp in surprise as she was forced into looking directly into the face of the giant Chat Noir.

At first there was no expression on his face as he glared at the small girl in his hand, it made her so nervous she wasn't sure what was going on in his mind but it couldn't be good. After what seemed like way too long to be looking at anyone his eyes lit up, a wide cheshire like grin grew from ear to ear it was such an unnerving smile it made her skin crawl.

Decided to challenge myself by drawing every single TLK character out there, up until this point in time, and post it here. You can see the finished project on my main account, though I figured to post it on my tumblr just show I could proudly show off my work and a few of my head canons.

Here are all the hyenas across TLK:

For first off we have the OG trio: Banzai(nonsense-Hausa), Shenzi(savage), and 'Ed'/Edan(fiery-Arabic). Childhood friends and also to Scar, Scar had come to them trying to escape from his duties of being second prince/Lion Guard leader, though found the company of these hyenas more favorable, and later expendable, to him. Shenzi is the leader of her pack, granddaughter of the previous matriarch, by the time Scar invites her pack along to live in the Pridelands, to act as his protection from any coops that may happen. During their time in the Pridelands and due to Scar's negligence, Shenzi's pack runs wild, hunting and eating without restraint, causing so much damage and chaos that most herds leave and Scar loses respect between them, the pride, and the inhabitants. Paired with a nasty drought rumored to be the Great Spirits angry towards Scar, the Pridelands is but a shadow of it's former glory, and is renamed as such, to a point where Shenzi's old Elephant Graveyard home can barley be distinguished from. After Scar's reveal and death, she and the other hyenas scatter to the wind in groups, with her taking herself, Banzai, Ed, and several others out into the desert, hearing tales of a luscious Oasis with plenty of food. Perhaps there they can start anew. Banzai and Ed are her closest companions, with Banzai being one of the few males who can quip back and is interesting and loyal enough to have by her side, while Ed.... Ed is Ed. She and them later settle down as mates in their new home.

On the right we have the hyena debuting in the Scar Villains comics and then matriarch of the pack, Queen Zuhour(flowers). This old lady is the previous leader of pack and Shenzi's grandmother. Tales passed down in the pack say that she was a witch. One who read bones in the steaming, boiling cauldrons of the earth, reading out the fates of those in her back. If you challenged or annoyed her, she would turn her pack, and their jaws and empty bellies, towards you. Among other such rumors. In truth, Zuhour was a stern, cunning, and ultimately fair leader, placed in the harsh position of keeping her pack's survival on the line while in the Elephant Graveyard. She could be strict and harsh at times, especially with pups, which she would sometimes 'nip' in order to keep in check, though nowhere near the level of cannibalistic/witchcraft stories would make you believe. She was the mother of several daughters, one of which was Shenzi's mother, another was Kamari and Azizi's, who unfortuanutely lost their lives, alongside Banzai's dad, in a hunt which got intercepted by the lions, which between the stampeding herbivores and viscous big cats, resulted in several deaths, as well as Zuhour losing her children and heirs. To amend the situation of inherited position of leadership, she brought back the laws of mashindano, that whoever could best her in a fight could assume control. Though many tried, despite her age, Zuhour was a surprisingly strong, capable, and brutal fighter. Shenzi tried to protest and circumvent the rule by arguing that, as her first and only granddaughter, leadership should automatically be passed to her, but Zuhour refused on the grounds of wanting not just her blood in charge of their packs survival, rather the one most willing to fight for the right be lead them. Shenzi would eventually be her downfall. Luring her grandmother away from the rest of the pack under the guise of a fresh kill nearby, Zuhour was flung off a cliff, breaking her body on the way down, with Shenzi and her friends watching. To ensure her eternal silence, the group soon descended to finish the job, with Scar bringing along some vultures to finish the remains, to deter suspicion. With their leader now gone and no evidence of what happened aside from Shenzi's word that Zuhour had lost her footing and fell down a cliff, and being her granddaughter and the strongest hyena with ties to a very scary, powerful ally, she was made leader in her steed. To help get the rest of the hyenas more used to the idea of working with lions/Scar, Shenzi invented a smear campaign, that her grandmother was a cannibal/performed witchcraft to keep her pack docile and unwilling to expand further, in order to consolidate control. Ironically it was Shenzi herself who 'suggested' that those of her pack who didn't survive the famine and passed 'not be let gone to waste'.

Moving away from antagonistic hyenas, let's move to some of the more notably positive representations of them. Jasiri(brave) in the leader of the Outlands clan of hyenas and later the entire territory after the wars. The daughter of a group that fled later on in Scar's reign into the Outlands and settled down there. They were hyenas who at least tried to get along with the lion pride and understood the Circle of Life more, though seeing it be misused and destroyed, as well as their clan start to turn on them for being 'lion-lovers', they decided that leaving was a better fate, and their actions is what partially inspired Nala to do so as well. Jasiri is compassionate, brave, and a capable, reliable leader, who was able to build a friendship and relationship with lions that eventually made peace between the two kingdoms and helped her pack establish themselves in the Outlands, now a genuine kingdom.

Underneath her is her older sister Madoa(spots/freckles) and her niece and nephew, Wema(goodness) and Tunu(valuable). Madoa is more shy and anxious than her sister, but is still king and understanding enough to follow her sister's leadership and trust her judgement. Despite Jasiri being younger then her, Madoa recognizes Jasiri's drive to help their pack and her willingness to work with others despite any past issues is something she finds admirable. Her son and daughter are still to young to fully understand the world around them, though they will grow up to be loyal pack members, with Wema especially admiring her aunt's role as a leader, while Tunu hopes to become an advisor one day.

Yes I did redesign the TLG hyenas, as well as made Madoa Wema and Tunu's mother. While I didn't think any of them were really bad, Jasiri/Msdoa''s purply grey pelts looked unnatural. so I went for a muted red, though kept their eyes/spots, as well as removed a lot of mane stripes. Hyena pups in real life are mostly black which fades over time into their classic spotty coats, so I made Wema and Tunu more compatible with their real-life inspirations, though you can kinda still see where their spots will be under their black fur. Also quick shoutout and thank you towards JuneLioness for letting me use their hyena pup base for Tunu, I really appreciate it, please go check them out if you have time to, I really recommend their work.

Back to antagonists now, we now have the other pack of hyenas in the Outlands, then lead by Janja(crafty). The group had arrived there not before Scar's reign's end and immediately came into conflict with the preestablished clan there. Unable to come together due to their views on lions/Circle of Life, the Janja's pack resolved to still make their home in the Outlands, but away from the hippie, 'lion-lovers', instead making their home close to the Outlands volcano. Though food was even more scarce, rodents that didn't mind the heat and a small passage to the Elephant Graveyard gave them enough food, for a time at least. Though the extreme heat, lava rivers, and infection brought on by malnutrition from the famine knocked out many of the members, Janja and his pack survived. Embittered with the hatred towards lions and wishing to return back to devour the returned herds, they would venture out frequently into the Pridelands, only to be brought back by the newest Lion Guard. The pack would also get into conflicts with the other hyenas over resources, though Jasiri's pack would graciously allow them to use the small watering hole they had, under the condition that to was to be shared and no one fights over it. After a war against the Pridelanders alongside many disgruntled a/o exiled carnivores/scavengers, the hyena packs would assimilate into one under Jasiri and she would take over rulership over the entirety of the Outlands, including the termite mounds where the Outsiders used to live after the war between Pridelanders and Outsiders.

Janja is pretty much the same as he in in the show, only with the exclusion of Scar's ghost, that being more of a rumor spread by Pridelander and Outlanders alike as a plot to make the Outlanders seem more threatening, that they were being controlled by the spirit of the damned scarred lion king. Janja gets his epiphany after seeing his pack struggle hard against the Pridelanders in this full-on war, as well as trying to come up with plans with the other disgruntled carnivores of the Outlands army. He has a long road ahead of him to atone for his past mistakes, as well as unlearn all the hateful things he's use to in order to acclimate to this new way, though Jasiri is nice enough to keep him in line and offer advice. Does help she is very pretty too.... wait he didn't say that!

Cheezi(crazy) and Chung(bitter) are his closest comrades and friends, despite everything they've gone through together. The two are more easier to acclimate to the new life then Janja is, as they never fully; harbored true hatred for the Pridelands, but were mostly following Janja and their bellies. The two, though seemingly dim-witted at first, are more amicable, humorous, and reliable. The two themselves are also cousins, though consider themselves to be brothers to both each other and two Janja, much to his annoyance and appreciation.

As for the rest of Janja's pride, the other four are also comprised of two sets of brothers; Nne(four) and Tano(five), and Isii(six-Igbo) and Asaa(seven-Igbo). Their parents were not the most creative when choosing their names, though they do function well enough to serve under Janja and later Jasiri's leadership. Nne and Tano remain closely designed to their original design, while Isii and Asaa are based off the other two hyenas that I've noticed people have dubbed 'Sita'(six) and 'Saba'(seven) respectively, so I decided to keep that, though make the names more unique.

Going back up and to the left, we have the hyenas from the TLK 2019 film, replacing Banzai and Ed for some reason which I will never understand nor agree with, brothers Kamari(gambling) and Azizi(adored)/brothers, Shenzi's cousins and Zuhour's grandsons. Though not as close as Shenzi's friends, the two are still loyal to Shenzi, even standing up for her when the pack was disgruntled with the way their alliance with Scar was treating them, though they aren't close enough to know about her relationship with their grandmother. Kamari is the younger, smaller and weaker of the two brothers, smaller then average, though has a temper and bite to compensate, while his younger brother Azizi, described that "his coat is darker" compared to Kamari, is one of the largest hyena in the Clan besides Shenzi, though most of the strength he has is in his muscles, as he is less intelligent/socially aware compared to his brother, resulting in him sometimes mistakenly irritating him. The large chunk in the ear is the result of Kamari once snapping at him and tearing out a chunk, though the two have since reconciled over that. Their colors are taken from their comic versions from the TLK 2019 comic Wild Schemes and Catastrophes stories' "Snow Day" and "Bad Omens". Though I was hesitant at first due to their orange manes and especially Kamari's more leucistic grey fur, I think they both turned out really cool in the end, and them being Zuhour's grandsons all helps tie their relationship with Shenzi better.

Going back in time to the early drafts of TLK we have Banagi(compress) and Baasho(disaster), hyenas from the Broad Veldts, led by King Rego, the King of the Kalahari. Villainous hyenas who enjoy chasing after defenseless cubs, they're menaces of their homeland, combatted only the the older lions and the other animal leaders who don't give a flying feather about their antics. The two are brothers with Banagi is the elder one. Short-tempered, greedy, and power-hungry, though also dramatic, as he is always chewing on a piece of bone marrow, gleefully grinding it in front of animals. Baasho is the more level-headed and tolerant of the two, cautious and obsequious to his older brother's commands. He did at least try to attempt more peaceful talks with the Lion Guard, though both sides had members which were less interested on maintaining friendly relations. They have a dynamic much like Molt and Hopper from Bug's Life, probably complete with much of the same dialogue as the two(I swear, if I hadn't promised Mother on her deathbed that I wouldn't kill you, I would kill you/And believe me, no one appreciates that more than I do).

Next up we have a more obscure hyena, Vikali(rough), based off the hyena seen in the T&P show in episodes like "Don't Wake the Neigh-bear" and "Recipe for Disaster". Coming from the Kimbilio Lands, home to the Mbala pride, led by king Malka, a native hyena to the area, he was already accustomed to the lion pride being nearby and was able to find some sort of neutral working relationship where the two could exist by each other, but not interfere. Despite another pack of hyenas not being so keep on being peaceful with their neighbors, Vikali and his group were more civil. Things changed though when more hyenas, refugees splintered off from the pack in the Pridelands, arrived and begged for sanctuary. Vikali's group agreed and eventually the group joined their, with Vikali taking one as his mate and having a daughter, seen as the future of the pack, Asante(thank you). Asante is adventurous, sarcastic, and charismatic, easily able to charm other animals and just as easily be able to get under their skin. Despite how sharp-tongued she can be, she has a fondness for those she cares about, such as her friends Kopa, who initially helps her from a python attack and becomes friends with her. Though Asante's mother is more uneasy about Asante's interest with the local lion pride, given how good that turned out in the past, Vikali is more accepting with Asante's friendship with lion cub Kopa. Asante is the only pup in the pack at the time and, for many of the new members, seen as a good omens and hope for the pack, so she is assumed to take control of it when she grows older, though they hope that her relationship with the lion pride doesn't cause harm in the future.

The same sentiment cannot be said by the leaders of the other hyena pack in the Kimbilio Lands, Fisi(hyena) and his subordinate/bodyguard/meat-shield Jack/Jeki(jack). The pack is more competitive and wary of the lions and of Vikali's pack, and would prefer it if they were the only predators in the territory. They see Asante and Kopa's relationship as a way to stir up conflict between both the pack and pride, hopefully enough to attack each other, only for Fisi's group to come in at the end, finish the victors off, and claim the entire territory as their own. Basically they're Janja's clan in the Kimbilio lands. Fisi is the head hyena, manipulative, vicious, and overbearing, with a thirst for control and no care if his pack has to be sacrificed for that goal, something which later causes them to turn their backs on him and join Asante's pack. Jeki is Fisi's righthand man and bodyguard/'attack dog'. Sadistic, cruel, and psychotic, he enjoys killing for sport and is prone to attacking first at whatever even irks him the slightest, preferring to act first, ask questions later, usually with his teeth. He has a particular grudge towards Asante and Kopa though, as they both fought back at him when he managed to kidnapped and threatened their friend Timira, and both successfully gave him each one of his many ear rips. His sanity dwindles even further as time goes on, until his speech is almost entirely composed of snarling and growling, and the only one who he even listens to is Fisi. He dies shortly before the rest of Fisi's pack switch sides to Asante's pack, when both her and Kopa are older and the two groups make peace with one another, and when Fisi rejects and attacks them, he is beaten down and dishonorably exiled from the land.

Last on the list, coming from the oasis and in the Hakuna Matata magazine "Monkey Mountain" we have Shriek/Silika(instinct). A minor antagonist serving under the villainous leopard One-Eye/Onye(see more on here)m, they're an exiled hyena who joined him alongside other carnivores after being chased out by their old pack. Their time serving under One-Eye was short lived however, as he would soon be overthrown by a warthog of all things and they and the other predators, including a vulture, jackal, and cape dog, would keep their little group and exist, relatively undisturbed and menacing, at the Oasis. Shriek is sly, gluttonous, and cruel, but also very cowardly. When Onye finds his end after falling off a cliff, he and the other carnivores eat his body.

Ascended Sally au: Sally has ascended and trying to force help the others ascend too, unfortunately they won't let her help them. They keep locking themselves inside their houses during the night and don't go into the forest anymore, but that's ok she will find a way to help them ascend too. The others are try to find a way to bring Sally back to normal but they’re running out of hope.

I finally made her! Venus! Daughter of Glamrock Bonnie and Glamrock Freddy, and assistant/work partner to Sun and Moon in the Superstar daycare! And also something else… she’s not actually an animatronic…

This is Venus from the Experiment Au I talked about back in December! Her Og design was rough (not posted) and since I finally had time to draw I made a more official ref for her.

So… she’s not an animatronic, she’s a suit.

Her operator is reader (and a few other people but the main driver of Venus is the reader).

Venus is friends with sun and moon, she was created to be a helper to them in the daycare because 1, the daycare is huge, and 2, there’s too many kids for only one attendant to watch over.

Venus is a ‘special case’ though, she is allowed to leave the daycare during operating hours, and even has a room in rockstar row. The elevator room behind it being an actual practical room for reader because they live in the Plex.

I explained everything a while ago so the actual lore of everything should be under the Experiment Au tag, if it isn’t I’ll add it.

But Venus can be found on rockstar row sometimes in the early morning or after the daycare closes at 4 pm. Otherwise they are instructed to stay inside the superstar daycare or its surrounding locations.

Venus is slightly taller than the other glamrocks but is still shorter than Sun/Moon. She has an extra set of leg components compared to the glamrocks, which is what makes her taller, besides the fact that she has to be worn a a mechsuit for an adult, and allows her user to jump further distances and to/from taller locations. However her users can’t run very fast if at all, because of the legs acting similar to stilts, which have springs under the feet, making walking fun but a challenge, like those old moon walking boots…

Her color pallet comes from Bonnie and Freddy for ‘skin’ and for colors that involve most of her clothes, they are derived from Sun and Moon’s pants and secondary chest plate colors. She looks similar to Bonnie because Fazbear ent. doesn’t want another bear because Freddy is the image of the company, so she has more bunny-likeness. Her eyes both have markings around them, one having a moon and the other having sun rays.

Her ears and eyes are actually two colors I color dropped from an official picture of Venus from NASA cause why not.

Lastly the areas on her body which typically are metal endoskeletons like for the other glamrocks, is actually closer to tubing and thick mesh to hide the users humanness, and to make her look like an animatronic. Her legs have a more mesh like consistency while her arms are more tubing.

Due to her size, users are able to access a small shelf inside her stomach hatch, which she typically stores a couple glue sticks and glitter glue bottles in because she thinks they are fun to use and are sometimes useful.

Reader also works at the daycare, but not as much as they appear as Venus. So they still interact with the kids a lot, but on less occasions and with less attention.

Reader is aware of, and is trying to keep the rest of the animatronics from finding out they are Venus, due to the fear of being a ‘monster’ which was not their fault in the slightest, but that’s how they’ve seen themselves ever since they woke up in the plex.

The only ones who know Venus is piloted by a human are Freddy and Bonnie, due to their protectiveness of their ‘Daughter’ and because of their roles at the pizza plex, were bound to find out, so being transparent (mostly) with them from the get go was Fazbear ent.’s best bet of smooth sailing.

Venus operates using a voice filter so anyone could be her pilot and there wouldn’t be too much speculation of slightly different voices. However the only person who can pilot Venus directly is reader because of “the Experiment.”

Shruikan is the leader of the Shadow Tribe

Abaddon was a villain in partially the Bear and Misty plot, Pontalo plot, then fully the portal plot

Bear was Misty’s adoptive father and was evil as shit lmfao and kidnaps all of them

Scar was the first villain, starting out as someone who shoves Misty off the roof. He’s a wolf with a long scar down his left eye, and has demon wings that are purple, with purple dark magic

Scar makes a high pitched whistle that glitches Misty between forms and they all fight and stuff, and he summons up a purple lightning storm, and then Dagger KILLS HIM LMAO

well… his clone… he’s the cloning master?? flame has a vision of this stuff, how he rises from the ashes and comes back and summons his little demon clones 😭😭 their eyes are on the drawing

he corrupts flame and steals her powers and she, Misty, and Fang get a mark, Misty cuts out most of them (i forgot how she escaped), kicking him out

they fight again, Flame finally kills Scar, and she discovers her nightmare fire wolf form again, and the new school got destroyed LMAOO

they build a new school, and theres sculptures of the four :) i remembered this

then Bear’s pack comes lmfaoo and this post is too long 😭😭😭 only meant for one drawing

i remember later in the rp dagger actually discovered shes a dragon??? and can change into any type of dragon (during the fight with scar after he gets kicked out of flames mind), she also finds out her real mother, Stinger, whos a HiveWing, a long while later

Finch’s ramblings: Magic School Bus

This is a franchise I essentially grew up with. I spent hours reading the books in the classroom, and watched the entire classic series.

I used to own all 20 MSB chapter books. Each one was narrated in the first person from a student’s point of view. “Space Explorers” (narrated by Carlos) and “Penguin Puzzle” (narrated by Phoebe) were my favorites.

The first MSB episode I remember watching is “Goes Cellular”— aka the one where Arnold turns orange.

Phoebe was by far one of my favorite characters in the show. She’s kind and caring, and has red hair, just like me! Even better: she shares her name with one of my favorite birds. Naturally, I was very disappointed that the reboot excluded her.

For my 9th birthday, I had a Magic School Bus party— specifically rainbow themed. My friends and I walked around in a big cardboard bus, and we did lots of colorful activities.

I was more used to the show and the books published afterwards, so it came as a bit of a surprise when I read the OG books by Joanna Cole. Here were the main eight students, plus more that I still can’t keep track of.

Another one of my favorite characters (and possibly my first childhood crush) was Carlos. It’s partly thanks to him that I took an interest in telling jokes. (The other part that influenced my joke telling was my mom.)

The friendships in the show are the best: to this day, I’m still looking for those kind of friends.

Dorothy Ann was yet another favorite character of mine. I could definitely relate to her: always ready to infodump, and never comfortable without at least a few books on hand.

I found I could relate to pretty much all 8 students:

Arnold’s nervous/cautious personality and love of rocks

Ralphie’s imagination and energy

Keesha’s perceptiveness and common sense

Phoebe’s love of animals and her quiet, yet fierce spirit

Carlos’s sense of humor and stubbornness

Tim’s love of art and film

Wanda’s sense of adventure and unwillingness to back down

Dorothy Ann’s book smarts and curiosity

When I was 12, I had a seizure, which resulted in a bad fall and a stay at the hospital. It took several days to recover, and MSB was one of the things that kept me going during that time. While I did enjoy getting to watch multiple episodes in a row, I never want to have to go to the hospital again for a seizure. I’ve only had a few of them, and the only thing stopping me from having another is my prescription medication.

Looking back, I really appreciate the representation in the show.

It’s possible to headcanon all the main characters as neurodivergent.

Not one, not two, not three, but FOUR redheads (Ms. Frizzle, Arnold, Phoebe, and Janet.) And it’s some of the best rep I’ve seen.

I also liked how the POC students (Keesha, Tim, Carlos, and Wanda) were portrayed. They did have key trademark personality traits, but those weren’t based on stereotypes. Instead, you have: girl who’s super perceptive and good at getting to the bottom of a mystery (Keesha), guy who really likes to draw and photograph things (Tim), guy who tells the best dad jokes (Carlos), and a girl who’s more of a daredevil than any of the other students (Wanda.)

The disability rep was another plus. As I mentioned, I already consider the majority of characters in the show to be autistic or ADHD. I also enjoyed seeing Carlos’s little brother Mikey, even if he was in only two episodes. I like the fact that Mikey is a wheelchair user, but that isn’t his only personality trait. Given what I know now, I’d consider his personality to be: combination of Scotty from Star Trek TOS, Peter Parker from Marvel, and Hiro Hamada from Big Hero 6.

Other things I liked:

All the color! From the Friz’s dress designs to the kids’ outfits to all the places they explored, there was no shortage of color.

The references to other well-known things. By far my favorite is the entire “Out of This World” episode. The bus in its spaceship form looks just like the USS Enterprise, and the kids get to wear Star Trek style outfits. If you are a Trekkie, I would recommend you watch this episode if you only have time to watch one.

Well, it’s getting late, so I’d better turn in for the night. I hope you guys like this look at a key part of my childhood, and a tiny bit of personal lore.

I'm also really curious abt the original plot of Rosalind's Lie, how much of in-game lore do we get to see? Or is it only mentioned in passing here and there? Just the idea of a game's storyline (RL) inside another game's storyline (IITAOAYD) intrigues me a lot

But on that note it's totally fine, I absolutely love reading any and all ramblings because I'm a rambler myself (it's the adhd) and like to consume new knowledge, even if I can't actually retain all of it :') (btw I love Mychael and can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the game aaa)

Honestly, the idea just kinda came out of nowhere one day (my brain does that) because of the recent(?) boom in yandere games, I was thinking what kind of yandere I might make and just thought of a concept where mc might be isekai'd into the yan's garden and he kind of immediately gets attached because they're 'untainted' by the world and other people and wants to keep it that way.

I should mention that I'm a fan of isekai genre in general because it's such a self-indulgent escape from our boring mundane lives, a kind of fresh start that a lot of people wish they had access to. Ironically though, I prefer the isekais that are more focused on living a new life as opposed to getting op powers and making waves in the world

Back to the topic, didn't really think too seriously on it till I saw the yanjam announcement and decided why not. Then I decided to add the reincarnation/otome isekai tropes into the mix to make it more interesting, except that mc is themselves and not another character. So stories like "My next life as a Villainess: All roads lead to doom!" and "Death is the only ending for the Villainess" (I promise it's two different things) come to mind for inspirations.

The game will lightly parody these popular tropes, which is why if Lucien looks like every other 'Duke of the North' with his red eyes and black hair(but less buff as I'd like because drawing men is an ongoing struggle for me) then it's on purpose. His name....... well it's honestly embarrassing but it really just comes from angel/demon inspo while talking it out with a friend, since Dukes are mostly portrayed as 'monsters' in comparison to the angelic Prince or so, when in reality it's the other way around. So its kinda like Lucifer...Lucien... yeah, not very creative but I also wanted a name that could be turned into a cute nickname(Lucy) so I decided to roll with it.

Since I gave such a specific name like "Rosalind's Lie" for the og game, I do intend to flesh out the story at some point, though for now I only have rough concepts because I'm terrible at planning lore I'm so sorry. But that somehow didn't stop me from being ambitious with it because I'm weird like that. Anyways, Rosalind's Lie is named so because the titular character Rosalind kicks off her relationships with the eligible bachelors through lies. As for why, it's because she was born in the slums and orphaned at a young age, and had only herself to rely on to survive. Thanks to that she's very street-smart and cunning, and by chance she caught the attention of a kind Baron who decides to adopt her. He was nice enough, but not very smart or ambitious, which she felt was a waste, so she decides to make her own fortune in life and marry rich - she's really more like a villainess than a heroine lol but basically she encapsulates both roles. Her "lie" in Lucien's route is basically her nicking his brooch during a ball and pretending she found it and returns it to him, which prompts him to invite her for lunch or something as thanks. And then she plans various other small schemes because he's notoriously hard to get a hold of but eventually starts liking him for real.

I'm actually not sure how much of the og lore I'll involve in yanduke, other than mc occasionally making some callbacks when they're reminded of something, because mc is isekai'd before the plot of the game starts this time, which is ofc heavily derailed and non-existent by then thanks to our yan.

Five Characters, Five Tags

Stolen from @dilffactory, because while my comfort characters are super predictable and obvious, it's still fun.

1.) Riona -- I know it's half cheating to put Riona, because she's my OC, but like. I've been writing her in some form since 2010 or 2011; she's literally part of my soul, and she's the main reason that I've connected with y'all the way that I have. Thank you to everyone who writes with Riona and/or lets me just toss Riona thoughts into other character dynamics, because she really is my favorite always.

2.) The OG comfort character/fictional crush: Angel -- Listen, I don't think you guys understand how much Angel has shaped my life, from being the baseline of my ridiculous type in fictional characters (especially fictional men) to giving me some of the High Standards (TM) that I do have for a real life partner (because like, Angel is extremely emotionally intelligent and also extremely willing to do self reflection and actively make changes to grow), and then obviously my intense love of DB that literally made me start my college career looking to go into forensic anthropology at the FBI because of "Bones". That didn't end up happening, but that path formulated so much of how I write and everything else, and I'll never change the journey. Also shout-out to the, admittedly subconscious, influences that he had on making Riona's character.

3.) Jane Foster, my girl. Has literally been my favorite character since I got into MCU fandom. She means the absolute world to me, and I adore her so fucking much. I've made some lifelong friends because of her, and I'm so very grateful.

4.) James "Sawyer" Ford -- Y'all remember my LOST hyperfixation, and I know that was annoying as fuck, and I hate myself every fucking time I feel that hyperfixation remotely coming back around, but like. I adore my man, and I wrote so much LOST fanfic that really helped me develop myself as a writer as well.

5.) I have so many OCs of my friends that I would like to list. Luke Milton & Casey Milton-Peters from @lionofstone, Anna and Artemis from @niceofthenine, @wintershieldedheart's Margot, OCs from past rp partners that no longer come around.

6.) Just some of my rp partners in general have made their variants & interpretations of canon characters into my comfort characters. Just know that if we're mutuals, I love and adore the work and care you've put into your muse. Even if we're not mutuals and I'm following you, I do so because I love how you write. Like, I know I'm a sappy fool and all that, but it's true and genuine. People with extremely niche muses or extremely canon divergent muses or people who just elevate their muses well above canon. Y'all are amazing, and I adore each and every one of you.

I have way more than five comfort characters, and like. I know most of y'all could easily call me out on the "garbage man I plucked out of the fandom dumpster" for most of my fandoms, but like. One of the draws for most of my fandoms is the sense of found family, and so like. All of them become my comfort characters, because they're part of that inherent family dynamic.

I have a wattpad, and my readers send in when they find someone copying my stories. When I see that someone does, I message them and ask them to change or put me as the cred. I usually help them with a new idea and with the writing if they're understanding. One time someone copied a oneshot of mine and uploaded it to YouTube and took all the cred ... so mh readers helped me get it down!!

The cynical playhouse is probably my favorite oneshot I've made to date (it contaisn EVRRYTHING FROM GORE TO FLUFF). I've finally started to find my old style again. When I was like 10-15 I wrote in a very graphic and violent way which I lost when I was writing fanfiction because I have limits when it comes to real humans :/ but now that i have made my own characters, I've managed to let lose and found back to the old style, especially with the cynical playhouse!!!

Soo....okay, just gonna get geared up on why I kinda hate it all, in all its incarnations, etc (and don't find it especially progressive or feminist....)

So, first off....the entire OG premise has no shortage of pure, unadulterated mean girling, and the entire basis is "I'm not like OTHER girls"....then, ultimately? The main character is saved by a buncha dudes....and yeah, obviously, not ALL dudes are christo-fascist misogynists, but still....it's gross.

It's also inherently racist and, weirdly, depise Gilead quite closely mirroring how life was for many black slaves in this country? She's never, EVER mentioned THAT as her inspiration (in fact, everything she draws from is based on the plight of white wimmin far longer ago/in the bible (so potentially fully untrue)/in cults/fascist dictatorships/etc.....)

AND then consider, Atwood, herself, would later back a dude repeatedly accused of sexual harassment/assault, while ignoring the many, repeated claims made by victims who came forward....

That said, the series, (which she looovvess), OFC, is ninety billion times worse...

For starters, it's created by a dude....and, again, not saying dudes can't be feminist, etc, buuuutt.....

Then factor that it also (OFC) buries the gheys----AND that it stars a woman who, herself, is in a fucking elitist, gay-hating, misogynistic cult (Elisabeth Moss is a HUGE Scientologist) that publicly supports violence against women.

And, for the record, Moss never has and never will be an especially good actress.

So what are we left with?
