Hit the one year duolingo streak! Attatched to Duo like my family owes him money, but they can't afford to pay him off, so they SOLD me to him. It has been a year with Duo, and I have stockholm syndrom. I love this bird and his ways even though he has emailed threats to everyone I love. He would never do that to me. I am a good girl.

Review of the previous weeks

Hiya everyone, last weeks kept me quite busy, so I hadn’t much time to write anything for the blog, but finally this is it: I will try to just give a short over all view, hopefully you still like it anyway. Lets start from the very beginning.
Additional to our normal work Cécile and I had to prepare a game for the European Youth Week for the following week. Luckily we had lots of help from Kirsi and Pirkko as well. We had an interview with the Loimaan Lehti, created a flyer, wrote emails to potential participants and promoted the EYW in the youth houses and also in the theatre. What’s more, that week the group of the play “Melina ja 7 ongelmanuorta“ had a live-stream and there Cécile and I also had to prepare some little snacks and recruit some actors for the EYW. On Friday the director of Keskuskoulu invited Maukka, Cécile and me to their annual dance contest as jury members. It was really great to watch the kids dance and see how much effort they put in preparing it. (in the first picture you can admire my jury member outfit :P)

Whereas Cécile spend the weekend and Vappu in Lappland, I went out with Kirsi. The Finnish band Roope Salminen ja Koirat played and although I didn’t understand all their lyrics the music and the atmosphere was amazing. The day before Vappu (for all non-finnish speakers: 1. of May) I went to Turku to meet Emilia, Amandus, Vici and Vanessa. We saw a lot of students with their extraordinary caps and people cleaning a statue with a giant toothbrush. (Why? I don’t really know!) Then there was already the European Youth Week. For the record: During the EYW there are many events all over Europe, where young people can get informed about various EU mobility opportunities and have fun at the same time. The motto for this year was “Shape it, move it, be it”. Due to this we created a game called potato rallye. We did it three times, every time in another place in Loimaa. Groups of 2-4 people got a potato and the aim of this game was to exchange this potato with another object by visiting shops and then exchange the received object and so on. To make it a bit more challenging the objects should start with a letter of EUROPE. (e.g. Omena=apple) After the game we all ate Pizza and sweets together.

That week also my parents came to Finland to visit me. They have never been here before and I also haven’t seen them for 8 months, so you all can imagine I was really happy to see them after such a long time. All in all they stayed two weeks. The first week we just enjoyed ourselves and did a lot of sightseeing. We stayed some nights in Helsinki and also in Turku. My Mum, Alois and me went to Suomenlinna, Church of Rock, Porvoo, Rauma, Ruissalo just to name some places.
We got to Loimaa on Saturday, where we had a cosy goodbye-dinner with Cécile, Pirkko, Eveliina and Sari, because Cécile finished her EVS and would go back to France. The second week my parents and I went to Tampere for one day. The rest of the week I had to work. In the theatre a kindergarten group came and they had a lot of fun trying out different costumes. Later my parents joined me in the theatre and Sari gave them a little tour. (They were really curious about my life and my work here in Finland and wanted to know everything) Later that week I did some shower-jellies in the youth houses, which was not just great fun, but also surprisingly easy to do.

On Friday my Mum and Alois left and I had English lessons at Alastaron koulu. Due to that summer holidays are just around the corner the students were already in holiday mood, so we had a really relaxed time. Even though Cécile wasn’t there anymore, I wasn’t very lonely. I got visitors: Sinja, Antonina and Claudia. That weekend was the first summer weather. (Finland skipped the spring) So we were outside most of the time, lying next to the river Loimijoki, getting our first sun burn and grilling some sausages.
