It happened before lockdown, too. I just miss the little uncomplicated tweet sightings saying stuff like, "Oh hey, Chris Evans picking up coffee in line in front of me this morning." Not too invasive, but let you know he's just out there doing normal stuff like everyone else.//
I agree. But now that there’s been so much trolling, people then harass the person who posting for more info. And then sometimes accuse them of lying.
Honestly I don’t think I would be caught dead ever doing that. I’d just be too embarrassed. Hopefully I don’t offend anyone here, but I don’t think I could do it.
I once tweeted a positive mini review on Twitter of ‘Finding Neverland’ Broadway show when Matthew Morrison was in it. It was pretty short. He retweeted. And it was cool. I wasn’t a big Matthew Morrison fan but I thought it was cool someone in the show saw my positive feedback and retweeted.
I ended up with a ton of Matthew Morrison fan accounts following me on Twitter, lol I panicked because it was my only ever post of Matthew Morrison. They ultimately unfollowed me, but it admittedly felt weird.
I was never a part of the Twilight fandom but knew enough in pop culture that those fans were rabid. I think there’s definitely more awareness now of rabid fan culture that may be an element of why we don’t see it anymore.
Would I look at what is publicly posted by people? Sure. I’m human. I’m also a fan of some famous figures. I follow tumbler blogs that post and repost. But would I ever engage with the person posting? Likely not. I don’t know if I’m shy or just awkward. But I guess it’s just a mix on online safety, or that I wouldn’t expect a random person who posted cause it was cool to them (look ‘oh hey neat!’ Kinda cool for a hot minute) to know that celebrity like someone in their fandom would. Hopefully that makes sense.
Yeah, I've never understood how people leave public comments on celebrity IG posts, especially of the cringe sexual kind. I just have no impetus to interact with celebrity posts beyond a like.
