Used this sites: (x) (x) for the first two pictures. They're free to use and you don't have to sign up. At least I didn't had to and I made a few pics there And also this site (x) for the third one. This is also really good and you can use it for free too (kind of). Only thing is you have to sign up if you want to download the picture and with the free account you can only download one pic per day (Or you just make a screenshot works too and you don't have to sign up...). Beside that some things are only accessible with premium for which you have to pay. Also depending on what filter you use you maybe have to edit it a little. Edit: I made a little mistake on this site (x) you also need to sign up to download the picture. It's been a while since I used them so I remembered it wrong. Saw this photo floating around and it is…SENDING ME. In multiple ways. So I’m going to ramble.

Ok first off - this is like, quintessential mid-00s teen heart throb photo shoot. Literally erase Pete’s tattoos and photoshop on a head of any popular male celebrity at the time and it would honestly work. This was The Template.

I think it’s easy to either forget (or just not realize) how TRULY big the FOB/“emo” hype train was back then. Cosmo Girl, Tiger Beat, and countless other magazines that solely focused on HUGE celebrities like Beyonce and Justin Timberlake and Lindsay Lohan were suddenly putting FOB, MCR, and Panic on their covers (although, let’s be real, usually just one or two members - i.e. Pete, Gerard, Brendon, Ryan).

There are��slightly less boundaries now with stuff like this because of the saturation of social media making “normal people” famous, but, back then, that was almost unheard of. You’d only see pictures of these bands in like, ALT Press or Kerrang. For them to get lumped into the same category as these A listers was absolutely bonkers.

So to see this picture of Pete…it kinda makes me laugh tbh, but it also makes me sad. Because that didn’t…FIT him. It looks ridiculous. It’s not an authentic picture of him- it’s him being placed into a mold. Him accepting “The Template” because that’s where he was expected to go. Which makes it…not at all surprising that he was only able to keep that up for so long before it fell apart.

It reminds me of that part in the Zane Lowe interview where they’re talking about this time of their career. Like, just go watch from min 35-42 because it’s fantastic but some highlights:

Zane acknowledging how easy it is to fall down the rabbit hole, especially when you’re thrust into it so quickly - it’s not really a choice. Patrick seconds this later by saying that once that fame light is on, it’s on, and you don’t really have a way to turn it off

Pete acknowledging how it kept him from being a “real person,” how little he liked it, and how much he had to grow during the hiatus to get away from that

Patrick saying how you really can’t win - you either accept the attention and you’re hated for it or you reject the attention and you’re hated for it. And this was ESPECIALLY true then. The media is still brutal but it was absolutely HORRENDOUS at that time. You really had to be “on” 24/7 and that’s…impossible.

Talking about how that level of fame creates a wall around you that is not only difficult for others to penetrate, but also yourself. And if Pete can’t access himself, he can’t access what he can give Patrick to create around, which then makes everything crumble like a house of cards.

I give FOB so much credit for realizing that, if they didn’t take a break, they would’ve ended VERY poorly and likely forever. Look how a lot of careers ended from that time. Either not well or a fade into irrelevance because of just trying to “keep up” and failing. Because, at that point, you’ve lost a lot of your “real person-ness” and, if you’ve lost that, what authenticity can you bring to your work? And if you’re BUILT on authenticity (which FOB is), then what is there to put out that is meaningful and relevant to your art?

Part of FOB’s magic has always been their authenticity and that they really are just “some guys.” That is what has allowed them to be so innovative and grow as artists and as people because there is a constant striving to push themselves and still remain grounded in who they are at their core. Pre-h, they didn’t know how to do that yet, and it was hell.

Pictures like this honestly just remind me of how deep in the hole the pressures of fame at that time did to not only them as a band, but Pete himself. Like, look at this picture. Does he look…genuine? Happy? Does this look like the Pete Wentz you know and love? Of course it may on the surface, but if you really look at it…to me it looks more like a caricature. The clothes, the pose, the styled hair and eyeliner…it just looks off. It’s Pete Wentz through a lens meant to appeal to the masses.

These lyrics from So Good Right Now feel extremely relevant to this time:

I am endlessly grateful that…regardless of the other reasons and intense drama around it…they recognized that need to step back from…all of this. That they didn’t let themselves just get covered by the weeds. Chewed up and spit back out like so many others. And so many years later we are still getting incredible, meaningful music from them. Like, it truly just keeps getting better. You can’t say that about…A LOT of people/bands who have been making music for this long.

Scooby doo mode activated! I was studying, and while using some sticky notes I though of Tom’s apartment and how it’s all covered up by them. And then I realized, that even though he has a lot of sticky notes on the walls, he doesn’t have any pictures of himself there? As in, not even movie posters from the films he’s starred in 🤔 On the other hand, he has a lot of stuff he used in films (which also would include Jean Claude tbh, as he did a movie with him) and I was wondering what that means about him and his opinion on himself - cuz like, Gail has her trailer FULL of pictures of Tom and the movies he’s been in (even some repeated I believe, only to have his face plastered literally everywhere) and it’s obvious because he’s her biggest star and she makes a shit ton of money with/out of him, but Tom hasn’t got really any posters of himself? I believe there are maybe some (one in the bedroom wall that gets broken by Colt maybe? I’d have to watch it again to be sure) but you can’t compare it to Gail’s trailer

My opinion: he sees his value in the things he collects from movie, as little prizes he’s collected along the way to adorn his shelves and apartment in general; and if he happens to have that poster in the bedroom, for me that seems like a motivational move on himself for when he’s getting ready to remind himself who he’s protraying to be: Tom Ryder, the biggest movie star on the planet, far away from being Tom the boy who left his home to become someone on his own (this is canon here now lol)

—and every time he puts a new item stolen from a movie set he can't help but stare at it on the wall because it's his and it's verifiable proof that, even if his popularity fades in twenty years, he'll always have the roles people DID love and it's all a reminder that he has fans/nerds/geeks who love him for his roles. It's something physical, almost like a comforting hug, that he is successful, real, and famous.

Gail sees his posters and smiles because that's her star, getting all the attention for his good looks, and making her tons of money and all it takes is a little editing to get him as the face of Gucci or whoever else she can sell him to.

But Tom keeps mementos because if all else fails he has proof that people thought he we was good without needing photoshop.

tbh i'm really lazy when it comes to taking photos now - i used to try really hard to fit a certain aesthetic (and failed every time) but now i just enjoy doing silly lil bright and colourful ones instead, because it's fun. I use a super light reshade preset (i actually play with it on 100% of the time, only if i'm taking a picture, sometimes i'll use dof too), and take all of my photos using GeForce Experience (basically does the same as SRWE, which for some reason doesnt work for me idk why lmao). Then I just open em up in photoshop, resize them, and use the gameplay actions from this set. basically im lazy and do nothing myself asdfghjklkjhgfghjk

the best: being able to expand my creativity ! trying out all different types of things in photoshop and playing around with all the layers to get something different each time. honestly, it's super freeing(?) sometimes, bc i can watch a video and see a moment and go "i want that as a gif" and then remember that "wait, i can make it into a gif!" we all deserve some self-indulgent giffing from time to time ! - the worst: keeping up to date with the content my groups post. bc sometimes it straddles a fine line between keeping up with the content bc i want to and feeling like i need to, bc in some twisted way, bc i'm a cc, it feels like i'm failing? or falling behind? even though i know the content will (generally - looking at u universe) always be there and will always be welcomed with open arms whenever i post smth, regardless of if it's something from a recent video or a video from debut time

flying, tbh. when i've had to go to different parts of aus, we've always driven to wherever. do i know that catching a 2 / 3 hour flight would be so much quicker and easier than a 12 hour drive? yes, but i've yet to be on a plane and so my brain makes it bigger than it probably would be. one day hopefully !!

do you have any advice for making gifs? i’ve become a fan of something that has barely any posts besides photos and for the first time ever a desire to make gifs came over me and honestly it’s kinda overwhelming so literally any tips would help, thank youuu

I do have a photoshop sideblog @creationsofthedark Whatever I write here is already reblogged there or posted, so you can check it out, just in case, I remember making a tutorial on how I make gifs, and tbh not really much changed since then. I know there are many ways to create gifs, however, I can speak only about the one I use.

Also suggest to check #photoshop tag on my blog, i might have answered some things about giffing process before that might be useful for you as well.

You need a device, program for screencaps and photoshop.

I use laptop, you can do the same on pc, if you have only ipad or phone then I would not be able to give any advice, I tried to create gifs on ipad, failed, so we are not gonna talk about it ever.

I use mpv for screencaps, thanks to amazing tutorial here that will help you to install mpv player and make screencaps from video.

You will also need photoshop, if you are not willing to pay for it, that's fine :D Not sure if it works, but here is a cracked version of ps you can check, or just google it, there will be lots of things you can get... for free. Yep, I am suggesting to pirate it lmao

So, once you have everything, make screencaps and here is the old tutorial to create gifs, back then i used kmplayer, but let's be honest that shit sucks recently and i am tired of it. So like for years I use mpv now.

I also was using cs5, cos my old laptop could not handle anything better, but newer versions are similar, so you will figure it out. Might as well do another tutorial, but not right now. You can also check some more photoshop blogs out there, they all have great tutorials on how to make gifs. Definitely better ones than my old one lol

And you will also find there lots of my psds, colorings that I used at some point and decided to put them there, they won't work on everything, but you might use them to learn how to color gifs yourself.

Do not be scared to experiment and do not give up if something does not turn out as good as you have it in mind, my first gifs are still out there and they suck, so yeah, you do it, you learn and you get better.

I never found Stephen colbert funny, and tbh I didn’t even know who he was when I was young because our parents were placed mostly in countries in Asia and like man’s not a popculture figure here. Kimmel, Fallon people know, but not him. It’s got to do with him and seth meyers both catering to the american political spheres, and honestly, that’s not what most of the population are interested in here. I found out about him when I got into American politics and elections. Anyway, I don’t know what he said exactly, but I saw on one of the other blogs what he was insinuating. And yk what? FUCK HIM. Not just for spewing tabloid bullshit & lies about people. For dragging and bullying a woman going through a fucking health crisis for tv, for dragging another woman who’s a private citizen and defaming her, for making it possible that 6 children who are all at an age where they can access internet will be able to read lies about their parents and disgusting things being said about them, don’t even get me started on all the other ways they’ll might have to deal with these allegations. Truly and utterly repulsed by this whole segment, which was done for fun. And yk what? Legal letters are the least of things he deserves.

Hi! Do you have any tips on starting a Tumblr and being consistent? ALSO!! Do you have any art tips? Like what app do you use, how'd you pick your style, just really how do you do what you do so awesomely?

I'm not the most consistent artist tbh, especially after I developed tendinosis in my right arm BUT I try to draw what I love when I'm able, fanart is a big thing if you're starting off cause it gets your art out there to a bunch of different people, and it's also a great way to get out of an art block, it has helped me in many ocasions.

• As for art tips, I'd say first of all take care of your body and specially your arms and hands, cause that's your most important tool in the world, so please STRETCH!!! AND TAKE BREAKS!!! Believe me, I say this for personal experience.

• Try and draw everyday, even if you only got like 10 minutes available, and practice specific things for long periods of time, don't overwhelm yourself trying to learn anatomy, perspective, hair and color theory all at once. I'd say anatomy is a great way to start cause you can draw basically any character when you get the hang of it.

• Some people are too perfectionist and spend months in one artwork, which is fine, but when you're getting started and trying to get the gist of things, I'd say that quantity beats quality. That's some great youtube videos with the theme fail faster, check it out if you're able! • And always remember to never compare yourself with other artists, everyone has their own journey and background, only compare your current self with your past self, and you'll see how much you've grown.

Edit cause I forgot to answer these:

As for apps, I mainly use photoshop, and it's mostly cause I'm comfortable with it cause I've been using it since I first started drawing digitally. But I don't think the app matters all that much. I also love to do traditional work as well and I mostly use copic markes, watercolors and indian ink for those.

Regarding style, I just let it develop, drawing a lot, and testing things out, it's always good to have 3 artists you look up to for reference, this way you won't be literally copying one artist's style, you'll be mixing different things you like from each one and coming up with your own thing in the process. Don't focus too much on the style tho', it'll come naturally!

Btw I have no idea if this is a bot ask but I felt like sharing some things.

So after seeing the Super Mario Bros. Movie I kept thinking how I hope Anya Taylor-Joy does more voice roles in the future, then that reminded me that she's who I picture voicing Gloria, and last night I decided to try animating Gloria lip-syncing some random ATJ quote*

Well I spent trying, failing, restarting, trying again, failing again etc. that I decided to give up. Besides it was especially hard to do it with a character with a long beak so I'll probably have to wait years to try animating something like this again once I learn how to actually do it outside of making drawings on Photoshop and then turning them into gifs (not even sure if I have a right to call it animating tbh).

Anyway I took the first drawing and colored it into this cuz I liked how it looked and didn't want it to go to waste.

Tags said you hate networking and I am the same. The only networking that ever worked for me was when I didn't know it was happening and out of the blue I got an phone call offering me a job (not my preferred way to engage with an employer, tbh, but hey, I got the job). You don't actually have to do it if it pains you, it just sometimes helps if you can.

My best advice, fwiw, is to apply for jobs you really want where you cannot satisfy the whole person specification. It is mortifying, I know, but it is absolutely true that managers and recruiters ask for things they know are unreasonable. Sub par cis white men apply for these jobs all the time, knowing they can cover only about 25% of the ask, and they get employed. They get promoted. They fail upwards in mortifying fashion, because claiming you can do more than you can is something managers like.

Some of that is the straight up prejudice and unconscious bias. But a lot of it is that better qualified people don't even apply because they think they are not qualified enough.

When I started applying for jobs where I didn't satisfy all the criteria I almost immediately started getting better results. It's bamboozling. But the jobs I had been applying to thought I was over qualified and that if they hired me, I would leave. The new, better jobs I applied to didn't actually expect to get everything. They wanted someone confident they could do the work with a demonstrable history of doing at least some of the work and who could credibly describe how they go about developing their skills. Saying I read a lot of blogs on graphic design turned out to be the right answer. I didn't say they were Livejournal icon blogs, but it doesn't matter, it was true, so I didn't have to feel like I was bullshitting. And I wasn't. Within a year I was training other people to use Photoshop with the same methods I learned making LJ icons.

You have skills and you know how to deploy them and you know how to learn new skills.

Applying for jobs is hideous, but you really do got this, and there are employers out there who would be delighted to have you.
