#I don't think this episode puts Mariner and particularly Boimler in the best light

Somebody really needs to tell Boimler about shapeshifters. First the egg lady, then with the Andorians...
I noticed that sometimes Rutherford's cybernetic eye 'closes' (turns into a straight line rather than the round dot) when his other eye does, and sometimes it doesn't. Probably just slightly inconsistent animation.
Boimler's promising not to tell anyone about Mariner's mix-up with the Ferengi in the shuttle and then him telling everyone at the bar in front of Mariner is a dick move. Sure, she arranged the Ferengi encounter to boost his confidence and therefore doesn't really care, but Boimler doesn't know that and even then. Although, when did Mariner find the time to contact her Ferengi friend? Presumably after Boimler tossed his combadge and all. Did she call the Ferengi right after we cut away and then go to try and find where Boimler went?
I do really like seeing Little Qo'nos and the Risan and Andorian areas. Makes me wonder about interplanetary immigration and multiculturalism though. Worf is a Klingon raised on Earth, and we do get to see occasional glimpses of his Russianness along with his Klingonness, but that's all that I can think of off the top of my head. But what about other species growing up on planets different from their parents'? What about Andorians growing up on Qo'Nos? Tellarites on Bajor? What is that like?
Rutherford's plotline in this episode is delightful. Everyone is just so supportive of him everywhere and encouraging him to try new things and find what he likes best, and it's wonderful. Also appreciate the appreciation for biological systems.
Although, didn't Rutherford have to do any combat training? He seems pretty clueless during his brief stint in Security, at least until his cybernetic implant helps out.
And on minor background (or I guess technically foreground in this case) characters, at the bar there was that Andorian with grey hair. So I suppose Andorians dye their hair, which would make sense, since white is generally pretty easy to color. Now we just need Andorians going for more colors.
