They don't, though, is the thing. At least they weren't at first, though many people just use them all interchangeably.

First, "humans are space <insert thing here>" was originally about defamiliarization, aka "take things we normally do and describe it in a way that makes it look weird." Nowadays it's mostly used to mean "hey this story happens in space" but that wasn't always the case.

Humans are space australians/Earth is space australia/Humans are deathworlders is the trope where Earth's biodiversity is something we're cavalier about whereas every other sapient species out there is mortified at what we willingly endure. Props for weird fauna, weird flora, terrible illnesses. The way we laugh at Australia for having its share of horrifying fauna, flora, and natural disasters, but actually it's us all.

Humans are space orcs is the trope where humans are somewhat akin to super-soldiers, or actually super-soldiers, by alien standards. Our evolution makes us scary because we heal fast and well, we are predators, we can throw stuff accurately, what have you.

Humans are space fae is the trope where the way we function is utterly bizarre and we shock the aliens much like fae stories have them follow alien rules which shock us. We're weird about language, we're protective of our ships, we personify everything, we pack-bond with roombas, etc.

Humans are space oddities is the catch-all trope for us being different to the other sapient species. Just a spin on humans are weird where it's specifically that we're weird by alien standards.

There's also humans are space capybaras but this one seems to be just over a year old and might have been added as a joke, but the way the others are increasingly used just to boost views by pasting them all in rather than having the ones that actually fit in the original sense, it got copied all around as well.

I mean, ultimately, we're going to a place where they all mean the same. It's like posting a show and tagging every character's name, ultimately everyone does it and you can't find posts about character A from series 1 because every single post about series 1 is tagged "character A." I personally think it sucks. But what can you do? We've had massive influxes of people who don't really view "tag your stuff with what's actually in it" as an important part of having a tagging system in the first place over the last few years. I should know, I arrived on tumblr through one of these.

Okay, so I love the Humans are ____ fandom, BUT. Please, why so many titles??

They all mean the *same* thing.

I mean, can't we just stick to one or two?? I swear to god it's like calling a glazed donut a plain donut. Can we all just collectively agree on one?? Please?
