A little bit of a hot take

While there are obvious problems with the natlan character design(whitewashing,racism ect) I do think part of the problem stems from the fact that most people Don't know how to identify the cultural elements.

It was obvious for the previous nations because the countries they are based off are shown and utilized everywhere in any media

Vs

Indigenous LatAm and African cultures where they are barley showed at all.

Varesa has design has cultural elements the bodysuit is based real luchadora wrestlers , which utilize bright colors , skirts and colorful mask(which fun fact many are inspired by aztec gods and deities)and accessories ,the knitted sleeves are based off a style of knitting originating from Mexico.

To say they have no cultural references and what is just not true at all.

That isn't to say you can't criticize or like or dislike the designs and gameplay animations there are issues.

But do some research please.

So imagine time you and you AEW love have gotten engaged and moved into a dream house, but something’s missing. A furbaby! What pet are you picking out, their name, are they treated like an animal or a baby? Tell me everything.

I let out a content sigh as Trent and I sit in our backyard, steaks on the grill, a cool beer in front of both of us. He looks over at me and grins. "What got you all smiley?"

"Nothing...everything. We're getting married, we now have this wonderful house, you're sitting here with me. Just life. Life got me all smiley."

He reaches across the table and takes my hand in his. "Good to hear you are pleasantly surprised with the outcome of our relationship."

I chuckle a bit at his comment. "Yep, I am. There's only one thing missing really."

"What's that?" I can tell by the way his eyebrows shoot up that he thinks I'll make a nasty sexual reference.

"A little someone to run around in this backyard..." I let my voice trail off and watch in amusement as his playful expression leaves his features, sheer panic now in his eyes. We have never talked about having kids, and I don't think we will. It's just never been important to either of us.

I laugh out loud at him. "Don't worry, Dorkie. I was talking about a dog." I laugh again as his whole body hits the back of his chair, a sigh of relief leaving his mouth.

"You are one mean bitch. If you ever do that again, I'm getting a divorce." He states which makes me laugh even more.

"We're not even married yet."

"Well then, marriage is off the table!" He stresses every single syllable as he gets up to check on our steaks. He puts them on a plate and walks back over to me.

"Seriously, Trent, what do you think about it?" I say before I thank him for the steak, it smells delicious.

"I don't know, Sweetcheeks, I feel like we shouldn't. At least not right now. Maybe when I quit wrestling, we could work on it." I can tell he is painfully uncomfortable with the conversation, trying to beat around the bush.

"About getting a dog, Trent!"

"Ooohhh...yeah, sounds like a good idea. We could go check the local shelter tomorrow?" He tries to play it cool now, but I know he is just as excited as I am.

I mockingly shake my head at him while taking a bite. "Sounds like a plan, Dorkie."

When we enter the shelter, and see seemingly endless rows of animals stuffed in small cages, both our hearts sink. We share a look, our silent agreement to safe one of these poor souls. He grabs my hand and we start looking at the dogs. Surprisingly, we both stop at the same cage and kneel down in front of it. There are two dogs inside, a small black one with long, fluffy ears, and a big, chocolate brown one, who has the facial expression of a calm giant.

Trent and I share a look and nod to each other before we go to the nice lady working there and ask her more about the dog.....s. Apparently, we did not fall in love with the same one. While the black one stole my heart, Trent got all heart eyes for the big one.

The lady smiles at us and explains that these two have been together for years, and should not be separated. Then she tells us their previous owner had passed away and the family did not want to keep the dogs, that is how they ended here.

I pull Trent to the side, taking his hands in mine and try to find a good way to start, but I just can't find the right words.

"Yes, Sweetcheeks, we're getting both." He matter-of-factly states before lightly pecking my lips. I smile up at him, amazed at how he can always tell what I am thinking, and nod.

We go back to the dogs, and say we'd gladly take the two home. After we get the paperwork done and pay, we put both of them on a leash and walk over to our car. On our way there, we decide we will not change their names, as they've had them for years now. So we stick with Piri, the small black lady, and Merlin, the brown male.

We stop to buy some essential supplies such as food, toys, blankets and dog pillows on our way home. Both dogs are actually very well behaved and seem to be rather calm, which is probably because of the fact that they have each other.

When we arrive at home, Trent pets both of them and shows them around the house as if they were human, explaining to them where the guestroom is, how the fridge holds all the good stuff and so on. I laugh at the whole situation, and can't help but admire Trent. He is so enthusiastic about it, it is endearing.

A few weeks later, Trent returns from a long week away in Chicago, where he wrestled at the Forbidden Door PPV. As soon as he walks through the door, he shouts. "Now where's my beautiful girl?!" He looks around and smiles brightly when he sees her running towards him, standing up against his leg. "There you are! I've missed you so much!" He lifts Piri up and swirls around with her before putting her back on the floors, gently rubbing her head.

I scoff a little and look over to Merlin sprawled out on his blanket. He had raised his head, but now puts it down again, not even thinking about greeting Trent. I smile at his reaction, and still find it funny how we both fell in love with one of the dogs, but they decided they wanted it to be the other way around.

"I remember a time when I was 'your beautiful girl'." I say as I walk over to him and wrap my arms around his waist to pull him as close as possible.

"Awwww, Sweetcheeks, jealousy is not a good look on you." He teases before running a hand through my hair and pulling me in for a passionate kiss. I smile against his lips and run my hands up his back. When we pull apart, I brush our noses together. "I've missed you, Trent. And I'm really proud of you, you were fantastic at Forbidden Door."

He seems flattered by my compliment. "Thanks, my other beautiful girl."

Oh Disneyland Paris sounds fun yeah! Were you and your roommate already close then? I went to Walt Disney's world with my aunt and cousin when I was like 11 but it would've been way more fun if I could've taken my best friend with me for sure. Maybe we can go to the one in Paris now that she lives just 3h away from me! Oh I see, sounds like LA was really fun for you yeah! your roommate didn't mind third wheeling tho? Hahaha

Yeah Canada is beautiful but what I liked about it the most was the massive improvement in quality of life I had compared to where I was living before and just being able to be who I am and people accepting me for it. Not being worried about violence 24/7 felt pretty fucking great too. So yeah I highly recommend living there if you ever get a chance. But I am loving Portugal so far, people are a bit more judgemental here tho but I like that it's easier to travel to a lot of countries I've always wanted to go to. Everywhere you go there are pros and cons tho so sorting out priorities is key. But Toronto is my favourite of all the places I've been, before living there for a year I had already been two times!

Jesus 50 states, sometimes I forget how big the US is. And you can totally do it if you plan it out! After watching Bly Manor tho I really want to go to Vermont especially during autumn season looks really pretty! There's this fic I love (only the sun by prestonarchives) where Dani and Jamie go on a road trip from Vermont to Maine and I did their entire journey on Google maps street view bc I was so obsessed with this one chapter fanfic I had to immerse myself entirety in it hahaha. Yeah me and my roommate have been friends since we were like 14 so when we went to Disney Land we asked if we could be roomed together because we've been best friends for that long now... been best friends since school and now we live together. She's seen me at my best, my worst, has seen me in all my stages in life and has been there for a lot of the rough stuff I've been through and I've been there for all the stuff she's been through!! Nah she didn't mind at all we had some moments where me and my ex would just go and be a couple and have dates but my ex didn't want me travelling that far alone so invited my roommate too because she didn't like the thought of me flying 11hours alone or being in airports alone so my roommate came with me and we had a great time Awwh good I'm glad it was such a nice place and that you didn't worry about violence all the time but I'm so sorry you ever had to worry about that anyway that can't be easy. I would honestly love to live in Canada I really hope I get chance one day... Having life threatening health issues has been hard and since having my spleen removed in January (that was the surgery I needed to try and fix the issue I had) things are even harder now because I have to take antibiotics for the rest of my life to stop me getting any infections because if I ever get a chest infection now or a really bad cold it can be really dangerous but I take it all in my stride and not drinking is just a way to make sure the antibiotics actually work properly and to make sure nothing happens to me... and like you said, means I don't do anything dumb too... haha drunken stories are the best I have been lost a few times when I've been drunk... and I don't think you do learn, I have siblings that are

I know at 27 I am still doing dumb shit too I don't think I'll ever learn haha 😂 Its such an emotional roller coaster and honestly I was just devastated the first time I watched it... no TV show or movie has ever made me cry the way Bly Manor did when I first saw it and it still makes me cry now. I can cry just thinking about that last episode. I definitely mean it in a friendly way so I hope it comes across like that. Yeah the accent in Billy Elliot is a Geordie accent and its my favourite accent there are other accents around the north that are called different things. Yeah Lancashire is a county and again in Lancashire there are loads of different accents I can't really pinpoint Jamie's down to a city I just know it's Northern. I'm from Yorkshire but don't have a strong Yorkshire accent I just have a Northern accent, like people never believe I'm from the place I'm from because I don't sound like I am but you can definitely tell I'm northern... honestly there are so many accents in England... you can drive for two hours in any direction in England and the accent will change like two times at least it's insane... see a lot of people say that but I am not a HUGE fan of the northern accent and I think it's because I grew up there. I much prefer Dani's accent to Jamie's but like I said to me, Jamie just talks normal there is no accent really haha Yeah 4k words for it but it's all jumbled up it's not like a chronological story yet it's just all over the place haha but I hope I can get it all structured properly soon!! It’s not that Klavierhates animals or something like that. On the contrary, he loves them! Hisbrother’s dog Vongole was the cutest pup in the world when she was younger (nowshe’s just a moody diva who tries to bite him) and the kittens their neighborin Germany had where the cutest bunch of babies he has ever seen! But going tothe zoo isn’t exactly something Klavier takes much interest in.

Still, the girl he’scurrently seeing is a real sweetheart. And she loves animals. Not just cats anddogs but also the exotic kind of animals. She loves lions and elephants and allkind of snakes (which is cool because most girls don’t like snakes).

And so, the youngmusician settled for a date in the zoo. He would have preferred the Aquarium –sharks still were his favorites – but seeing the excitement and happiness inher eyes when they entered the zoo is totally worth the trip.

Or so Klavier thinks. Atfirst.

Turns out there isanother reason why he never visits the zoo. It’s not because of the animals orthe expensive entrance (he earns enough money with his band and his job as aprosecutor, he doesn’t need to worry about money). It’s the people.The zoo is crowded with people, with tourists and families and kids – and ohgod those kids are screaming and shouting! Can someone please shut them up? Andit’s getting hot. The sun rises and the clouds that had covered it before haddisappeared. The musician regrets his pick of clothes: black pants, dark-blueshirt and a black base-cap so he won’t get recognized easily. The only goodpick in his outfit is his sunglasses. Their original purpose has been to coverhis eyes to not get recognized. Now they are protecting him from the bright,hot sun.

They have been runningaround for almost three hours now and he’s done. He’s not having fun at all,the girl is paying more attention to the animals than to him and people keepstaring at him as if he’s some sort of criminal. He’s sweaty and exhausted andhe already knows that Daryan will laugh about him if he tells his best friendabout this terrible date.

Oh! They are feeding the lions in about 15 minutes! I heardthat show is amazing and that one of the zookeepers is playing with the lions!Let’s go there!

The girl grabs his armand tugs on him and with a deep sigh Klavier gives into his fate and followsher. If he can get through this last show – they have been watching four othersalready – then maybe he can convince her to come home with him.

The cage with thelions was located in the center of the zoo, which was good because from theircurrent location it’s only a brief walk over there. People have alreadygathered in front of the zoo exhibit but they still managed to find a nice spotwhere they could overlook the whole area.

The lions are chillingin the sun, relaxing and lazily waving their tales and Klavier notices thatthey are huge. He has seen some of the zookeepers walking around and most ofthem didn’t look like they could play with a lion and survive. But who knows,maybe they are just playing fetch from a safe place?

I heard the zookeeper who takes care of the lions is new! I’mreally curious if the rumors I heard are true.

Rumors? You mean the zookeeper, playing with the lions?

No, silly. That they’re playing with them is a given fact. ButI heard that their new guy is wrestling with the male lion. Apparently, animalslove him but you know… it’s all rumors.

Klavier frowns. Thatreally is quite the strange rumor but well. Klavier knows well enough how fastrumors spread and how hard it can be to fight them. Since he has become famouswith his band he and Daryan have made a game out of it who has the weirdestrumor of them. Currently Daryan is in the lead – he’s accused to be the fatherof an almost 10-year-old child. Which is hilarious if you consider that Daryanhimself is only 21 by now.

Oh, look! That must be him!

Klavier turns hisattention towards the lions exhibition again but he doesn’t see much expect amountain of meat moving inside the cage. His eyes widen in surprise – how brave!That guy really just walks in as if it’s nothing.

He’s hovering the meatover his head and throws it – and the lions dive after it immediately. Thevisitors roar and the man laughs and Klavier can’t help it but gasp for air.

This guy… this bear ofa man is standing inside that exhibition, surrounded by hungry lions who areeagerly ripping apart their meat. He’s standing there, with long pants and ashort-sleeved shirt which is tight on his body, with silly, orange aviators coveringhis eyes and he’s laughing. There’s no sign of fear or hesitation in his faceor his body.

The masses gasp whenthe male lion slowly moves closer. Carefully approaching their pray. Klaviercan feel the nails of the girl dig into his arm but he can’t turn away hisgaze, can’t focus on her. He watches the guy who shakes his head in amusementand takes off his aviators, placing them on a nearby stone. Then he turns hisattention towards the lion, his muscles tensing, the human ready to attack. Butso is the lion and attack he does.

He jumps with outstretchedclaws and an opened mouth, showing rows of long, sharp teeth, ready to dig intothe man, to rip him apart and for a brief moment, the moment of impact, Klaviershuts his eyes closed.

He opens them againwhen the crowd starts roaring and laughing and the musician himself can’t helpit but laugh either.

It’s not exactlywrestling what they are doing, but the male lion is on the back, pawsoutstretched in the air while the zookeeper is rubbing the big cat’s bellyeagerly, give him some good scratches on the sensitive spot.

When the show is over,the crowd starts to scatter. The excitement has been enough for his companionand she agreed to leaving the zoo, but not without another brief stop at thestore at the exit. Klavier rolls his eyes but doesn’t complain about it. Letthe woman have what she wants.

It takes her almosttwenty minutes to decide on which plush she wants and it is – of course – a lion.The prosecutor doesn’t mind paying for it as a gift and she gets all squeakyand giggly. Still, she notices the small card the cashier slips Klavier inreturn with his credit card.

What’s that?

Huh? Oh, nothing. You know, how about we grab something toeat on the way to my place? I’m starving!

Klavier smiles at herand slips the annual pass for the zoo in the pocket of his pants.
