Look at this traumatized boy.

This was really just me doodling as I brainstormed. I don't know how much I'm gonna keep and I'd love some feedback.

Anyway, I'll explain my thought process under the cut.

Initial idea. I wanted Shadow to be much more emotional than he normally is. I also thought, hey, what if Starline could use Shadow’s trauma against him? Maybe that's the reason Starline brings him in for 'treatment'? For clothes, I dunno, I liked the idea of a sweater vest. Also, I wanted his quills to droop and make him look more sad.

So then I thought, Niko's big repeated phrase is "everything is fine," so what if Shadow said "I'M fine"?! Just like, he's still avoiding his emotions and trauma, but in a completely different way. Instead of hiding behind not caring, he's hiding behind a smile. I also decided to have super small be the default look for his eyes, as a visual indicator that this boy is Not Okay. Also kinda wanted to just channel my inner creepy for once and do whatever.

A breakdown. I think this Shadow cries massively when he can't hold back his emotions anymore.

Yeah just a quick doodle. He straining to keep that smile.

I had this idea that Starline programs in frequent fake flashbacks which results in this. Kinda reinforcing Shadow’s need to stay with Starline. He's the only one who can make this stop. Also, I think maybe Shadow’s real memories might try to come back during these bits, which puts him in even more pain.

Wanted to draw the droopy quills again. XD

Doodle. Shadow can't always hold everything in and this is him about to snap.

Miscellaneous:

- I think Starline is probably gonna need to get rid of Shadow’s stripes in order to keep up the illusion.

- Repurpose that Ultimate Lifeform super intellect. Shadow’s like the nerdy kid who sits in the corner of the library not talking to anyone all day now.

- Name ideas? I though of Daniel. I dunno, thoughts?

- I got this far and realized I didn't have a way to tie this in to the NAME OF THE AU. Ideas appreciated.

- I was thinking maybe Shadow’s fake backstory and the fake reason for his trauma is he lost his family in the war. (And then maybe saw Shadow as someone who's strong and perfect to get revenge on Eggman and so then started having 'delusions' of being him so he could avenge his family.)

Anyway, yeah, feedback is much appreciated! We'll see how much of this I keep and how much I change.

Apothecary AU Quick Doodles P.2

So I'm working on some more quick doodles for the Apothecary AU. So here are some for everyone to enjoy!

I was working on these doodles cause I'm still figuring out what I wanna do with Geno, Fresh, and Error. So here's a quick Beta design sketch doodle of the three of them together not only as siblings, but if I go along this idea their also royals of their own empire.

Geno is the eldest, but he isn't the crowned prince, as his sickness makes him not be the greatest option as ruler. But he is getting prepared to possible be given as a concubine for peace reasons if needed.

Error is the second born, and is the crown prince to the empire (Still thinking of a name for it). And is learning about everything to take over. While also trying to care for his siblings, and try to not break Fresh's arm.

Fresh there is the youngest. Yes this Fresh also has the parasite in his socket. If I go this route there are things about the empire their from that I need to figure out. Like if I want the parasite to be more then just a parasite using a skeleton body as a host or something else.

Finally there's Fresh who I tried to draw a samurai helmet and well the quick doodle of the helmet didn't come out well XD. Who's a guard of the X-Empire. I still drew him with the parasite cause still figuring our if I wanna keep him with it or not.

Then we have Lust to the left right there, doing make-up with lil Nighty. Going over the lessons he's learned about how to apply make-up.

Over to the right we have Hearts. The fighter Brothel member. Trying to better figure out how heavy Nightmare's restraights are. Confused and slightly frustrated on why something so heavy was put on a kid.

Then down there at the bottom there is a beta design to Sin. Sin likes to wear metal finger tips, that not only makes his fingers longer but, also sharper. He's reading Night a story. I'm still figuring out his design, and it might change later.

A quick doodle of lil Nightmare with the monster who I'm thinking of being his apothecary teacher.

I'm thinking of using Baggs Sans from the Megalosomnia AU to be Nightmare's Apothecary teacher.

You can see up there in the corner. Baggs is about to be in a lot of trouble with Muffet. As the apothecary showing Nightmare the different types of poisonous mushrooms that he's gathered and is working with for the day, and with him having poison through his system he dumbly suggests to lil Night to try one.

Muffet isn't happy at that. Sure she's letting Nightmare learn to be an Apothecary, but she isn't happy that Baggs is suggesting to basically poison themselves and create a cure after the fact so soon into their lessons.

Other then moments like that, with Baggs getting in a lot of trouble with Muffet every now and then. Bagg is a very dedicated teacher. Teaching Nightmare to be cautious and to always look for clues and figure things out.

Cinders working on trying to communicate with ghosts/Yoki.

I decided to doodle around with the idea of Cinders seeing Nim's spirit. Still figuring out more of this idea if I go along with it some more. So enjoy the doodle for the idea for now.

Especially since the X-Empire wouldn't know much about Nim or the Floral Empire. As the Empire is beyond the mountain range. So encounters between Cinders and Nim would be spars and limited. As he doesn't want to cause much chaos. Especially since not many outside of his Empire would interact with spirits and everything.

Cross spending time with his kids.

Cross really just wants to play with his kids and not get interrupted. Is that really so much of him to ask?

This is an idea that I want to play around with a little more in the future/later down the line in the Apothecary AU story.

5. Hmm, if we're talking art that I considered finished? Probably like... 95% of it. I tend to post almost everything, with the frequent exception of my traditional art pet portrait commissions, and that's only because I forget about them XD But if we're talking about things that never made it past the sketch/doodle phase and likely never will and that have been languishing in a folder on my computer for years... they probably constitute a good 30% of my art files.

10. N O N E. Clothes are the bane of my existence lmao. Can I say armor? Armor can be taxing and complicated, but it's got hard planes and sharp edges and those are my jam.

12. Ears!! Both pointy and round, or spiky/mermaid-ish, or hobbit like, or orcish or dog/cat/other animal ears or whatever. They are so easy for me to draw, for some reason -- just simple lines that, for animals or fantasy races with mobile ears, can be so expressive. I LOVE them ♡

20. Well. "Enjoy" is a strong word, but probably hands -- I find them as hard to draw as anyone else BUT I am also obsessed with them, so it's not so much enjoyment as that I find the agony to be worth it XD I will literally spend hours to get hands right.

25. Idk! The only thing I can think of right now is that someone once compared it to Ukiyo-e prints which, while they're not a source of conscious inspiration (like, I didn't draw upon them intentionally), I have been surrounded by Japanese art for a good portion of my life, so it's definitely influenced me. Either way, it was the highest compliment!

30. Oh, HA, so I have this bad habit that once I post a piece I never think about it or look at it again; it has been released out into the wild and I just. forget about it. My part in its life is finished lmao. So let me scroll through my art tag real quick because I have NO IDEA what my art is doing without me XD

I'd say this one (just because of how time consuming all the armor, patterning, and detail work was) or this one (which looking at it now, actually has gotten a lot attention given how obscure the fandom is, but it's one of my most raw emotional/personal drawings so I'm still very partial to it ^^).

Sometimes my brain just does that cartoon sound effect of car breaks screeching to a halt, and I just know that this scene is very drawable. Sometimes the mental picture is finished pretty instantly, other times it nags at me until I figure out the composition and such. And sometimes I want to draw a thing but it's just not possible.

As for the style, it really boils down to how much creative juice I have at the time, and if I'm tracing stock photos or a doodle I made by hand on paper. And yeah, the ✨vibes✨ are THE deciding factor. Also I hate backgrounds. Transparent background is my savior

(You know, FUNNY THING you asked this just today because I was thinking about "Kreacher should get to commit a little murder" AU we've been joking around with Trex_Patronus that I said I'd love to draw but didn't know how - and I just figured out how :D)

(Also this ask had me diving into the depths of my laptop for different approaches I took, feel free to enjoy some of my findings under the cut xD)

This one is fully traced - Bruce Wayne/Diana Prince/Tony Stark (or as my friend starkind likes to call them, Three Strong Hearts.), I don't have the reference pictures anymore but the poses were from the actor's photoshoots and starkind provided the armors :D

I made this one mostly by tracing stock images (and using my friend's drawing tablet) for a friend's code-a-game homework.

(That game is also why all my digital drawings are 800x800, I set that size in the FireAlpaca and never bothered to change it.)
