alright, here we go, it's the giant Artfight 2023 post for this year that I'm making toooooo early: Basically I'm doing Artfight for a second year in a row after having a lot of fun with it last year, and man I cannot wait to do this again after getting in the groove of making characters and such with all of my Attacks planned out already :) ...in fact the characters I have on my profile was from 7 (to 10) from last year to over 40:

I loooove drawing silly little fellas, and this character, Crinkle, is as silly as it gets! The character is a Pierrot/Jester, so I wanted to have some sort of circus theme going on. I pictured something like being huddled inside a big top, it's warm and bright, and there's a particular feline clown putting on a great performance to the crowd! This dude would definitely be the star of ANY show 100% This attack was super fun to draw, I really loved playing around with the lighting and colours for the atmosphere!

Anywayyys that's all for artfight 2024!! This was my first time giving it a go and I started a little late but it was SOOO much fun!! I got some awesome attacks on my character (yes, I only had one character o_0) and I can't wait to fight more people next year MWAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Every year without fail I will: 1. Realize artfight is coming up again only bc my dash over various websites explodes with team cards and then I go: "oh shit, gotta prepare refs". As if my brain can only compute 1 or 2 weeks ahead at most. You'd think 2 weeks are plenty of time to still get all the stuff sorted and ref sheets done right? Wrong. 1 week crunch time between attack to get that stuff sorted out because 2 weeks obviously is too little time after all I need at least three nevermind all the months in between that were free and available to do all that nah, nah.. before being alerted to AF starting up again July does not exist apparently and after AF concludes all the other months equally do not exists I am in the void doomed to timeloop through the same process each year girlfailure style.

2. Bookmark like crazy and then despair bc mathematically the amount of booksmarks cannot be realized as artworks in a singular month but does that stop me? No. I will try anyway. (it never works out for me ever but I learn nothing I will go ham on it like a woman on a mission)

3. Due to memory problems and a lack of idk... object permanence? Mental blindness? I will realize somewhen around this time too, that I might have said to myself last year: "I will comment on this defense for me a lil later when I am less exhausted" and forgotten to follow suit with that plan. Cue the internal crisis of "should I comment fashionably super late on this or simply not engage at all at this point bc commenting now feels even ruder" but not saying anything at all is even worse and flipflop on that anxiously for a couple of days and there is a good chance it might slip my mind again. 4. So I follow my crazy bookmark system religiously and forget that other people can and will attack during AF and suddenly I have a piece I need to revenge on and that flips my entire system over. I do indeed simply forget this is a thing. Gets me every time. I just wanna throw art at people can u maybe wait with throwing back I have a system ahhhhhh.

5. What is food, sleep. normal creature comforts even. Why am I subjected to the whimsy of a flesh vessel I wanna do arting and arting only for a month straight. Why am I made to endure corporal woes. Embarrassing.

6. were in gods green earth is my pen. I just held it to do art where did it go.

7. How do you explain a therapist how you willingly succumb to madness with a smile on your face and a cramp in your shoulder each year.

TADC Wonderland AU - fake collab

My persona, Alexa (named after myself) and my little Pikachu friend here have somehow landed into a magical world full of whimsy and wonder! Though, as a young woman of science, I am more curious as to how that cup is floating just a few centimeters above the table…

But I am also a teenage woman who is quite fond of fantasy, I'll suspend my disbelief this one time and enjoy the strangeness of this place

Oh, and Pikachu, please don't get on the table and just stay with me here. I'm pretty sure the little guy in that cup isn't a special cookie

P.S. This took me so, so long to make; I started at, I think the halfway point of my high school year and then I ended up finishing it so long after I graduated, but I don't fricking care. I learned so much about art, I had fun mixing up colors and doing art things, and I have no regrets whatsoever

TFOA (The Fate of Aiya) is an OC story / OC world that @cuppanova and I have been working on. We have a lot to share, but I'm not quite comfortable sharing everything publicly just yet ;v;

tho I'm really glad you liked Isa! She's one of the main characters in the story, and I can't wait for you to find out what's going to happen to her! (I'm doing evilllll smirk)

I lost my laptop charger halfway through artfight and so didn't get nearly as much done as I wanted However I had fun still and now that it's over I've got so much I wanna draw

I'm trying a new painting technique! And decided I was gonna try it with making my billsona(tik tok gave me the idea (I will editing this when I track down who started it so I can give proper credit.)

IM in uni I don't know if I mentioned that. I am starting my second year soon so I've been busy working to pay my deposits and whatnot. I can't wait to go back!

Hi! Since i talked about it on webtoons/tapas i thought i could here too I currently can't draw too much because of my wrist, it started to hurt more than a month ago and i kinda ignored it so it didn't go better, rn i'm wearing a splint, the doctor said it was ok to draw but just a little, so this is what i do

The art i post here is not art i just drew, it's usually art i did 1-2 months before, as i post earlier on Kofi!! So please don't think i'm drawing way too much because i still post a lot of art

Honestly i'm very depressed about that, i usually do nothing but drawing and this is all i like doing in my life, well i don't have much choice About Artfight, since i can still draw a little, i will go at my own pace, obviously i won't be able to do as much as the previous year, and i will probably do a lot more doodles and quick stuff (i've been waiting artfight for so long and it's my fav time of the year, i really hate that my wrist is like this rn </3)

2024 Sure is Starting Swiftly !

Happy new year ! This year I have a lot of exciting things I want to do art-wise. I finally finished a dated rough I wanted to have as an animated looping icon of Solliuth, Klair & Neth, the Thorn Trio ! They're nicknamed thorn trio because they're a pain if the asses of....some people. I'm not saying anything else but they're definitely up to something.

I've been working on this one veeery on and off for almost a full year. Really ? 2023 was not as good as 2022 in terms of art I guess.

the little guy Solliuth !!! it's him. I've got a lot of roughs of him dating as far as 2015, the guy's old. Went through many, many iterations and I've had atleast 5 entirely different characters in his place.

In his first iteration, he was some edgy cool guy who managed to pull back the curtains of reality, kinda matrix-style. But instead of hope and community, all it brought him was isolation and the feeling of never belonging.

There was this funny other iteration in 2016 where he was some aristocratic-looking fantasy guy, greatly inspired by the Stanley Parable - he was called the Narrator in this idea. He also had a really cool mustache. This one is from 2016 v

I since completely separated this guy from Solliuth, as I started realizing that maybe having a bit of Focus was a great idea if I wanted to tell stories with him. So now he's just a regular guy, no reality-peeling shtick, no Narrating gimmick. This Narrator guy though....I might be bringing him back in my roster for.....newer, cooler purposes

Anyway, back to actual Solliuth ! Man, Narrators huh. They keep imprinting themselves onto the narrative don't they. Whatever. I still need to actually write down scripts about his misadventures, I have a lot of ideas as to what his story is about, I want to make it as good as possible.

I used to conceptualize him as a much more boring character, him being essentially the most main-protagonist-typed oc of mine I feel. He used to be somewhat evil, and......well he still is somewhat, but there's a lot of extra steps in his characterization I want to go through. He's kind of a mystery even to me, sometimes he looks chill, sometimes fucking intense, sometimes he's a good guy, sometimes a very bad one. It'll take a while before I manage to properly write him, and I can't wait.

I'll save all of that thinking to when I get to scripting his shit, although it's not in the plans yet. I have other projects (probably Cherrypick-focused) I want to work on, as well as a refsheet for a new (old) character I hope I'll be done with for this year's artfight. But to close off this post, here's a cool 2023 sketch of the man Solliuth. For whoever is reading this. You reached the end, and therefore are deserving of enjoying this one.

I’ve been doing some reflecting on this past year, and I really truly think it is the most artistic improvement I have made in any span of time. Of course, I’m going to be completely insufferable about it and have collected my best piece from each month with a few personal notes, so why don’t we go on a sprint down memory highway together?

January

At the start of the year, I was both adrift between fandoms and art styles. I was mostly aiming to find which style I could keep using, finish pieces quickly yet still feel proud of. It certainly worked in the moment, but as I pushed my boundaries more it didn't stick. Still, I look back on this style fondly! also proper throwback to my old username that i had for far too long

February

This was the start of me working on colour palettes. I lay down my main colour in the background and fit the rest of my colours around that. It was a good way to start experimenting!

March

Then the shift back to finding my style- I particularly like how the hair turned out in this piece! I also started trying more interesting poses here, and actually properly attempting hands.

April

I didn't finish any pieces in april as I had started working more hours and didn't quite know how to balance myself creatively at that point. I did lean into this style of sketch much more, which was good fun while it stuck around but ive leant away from it in more recent times.

May

Not much to say about may in particular, lots of the same things as the past few months with improvements here and there! just some steady progress :)

June

Cue the crunch of getting character refs done before artfight, and then only actually finishing one (which isn't actually complete, even to this day). But hey, more solid reference for My Guy ! I also leaned into drawing furries a lot more and have improved heaps in the difference of proportions!

July

artfight baybee!! no artistic differences, but it was a lot of fun scouting out other peoples character designs! I do hope to participate more this year :3

August

back to colours, though this month felt like a bit of a backtrack. Don't get me wrong, I do quite like this piece, but contrast-wise it doesn't have as much visual clarity as I would like. Regardless, a good learning opportunity!

September

Fun fact, I rendered this one entirely in greyscale! This was the start of me getting back into hatchetfield after being reminded of NPMDs release, and lets be real this part of black friday was chilling so I had to do something about it! I consider this piece a landmark in terms of my art journey.

October

Once again no real finished pieces, I was too busy watching nightmare time while waiting for the group watch of npmd. I did do a lot of studies of star wars characters from their live-action shows though, which was a fun learning experience!

November

This was the piece where I applied pretty much everything I had learnt throughout the year. contrast, colour themes, interactive environments and poses, the lot! and also. its them. how could i not

December

A perfect piece to wrap up the year with! Another step up from november, this applied lots of what I had learnt and pushed my boundaries even more. I have been aiming for more realism to actor's faces and body types, not out of it-has-to-be-canon-sake, but rather learning how to accurately depict someone's likeness from a few photo references. good practice for both live-action and animated characters!

Overall last year was absolutely wild. I can't wait to share my journey with you all as we go into 2024 strong!
