a little mini vent but as a trans man/ftm (the simplest way i can describe my gender) i frequently feel left out and sometimes outright rejected by the online trans community, even in anarchist and furry spaces. i feel like i can't celebrate my masculinity OR my femininity because my masculinity is seen as "stupid, lame, boring" or even "gross" and my femininity is "confusing" and makes people uncomfortable because i don't conform to the "born this way" narrative. people will deadass try to correct me when i call myself a girl!! every time i try to talk about my experience with gender i get talked over and then people expect me to just shut up bc someone "more important" is talking :( i get infantilized for the stuff i get euphoria from (like cargo shorts, old nintendo games, console modding, my body hair, my special interests) and looked at weird for the "girl stuff" i like (especially stuff from my childhood that i still love)

Ngl, now we have the Goth Galore kit it's got me wishing we had a goth radio station in game. Like, we have metal, cottagecore, baroque. When will we get a goth radio station? Bc making a goth sim and giving them their preferences and not having goth as an option for music they like is disappointing. And bc I play on console I can't download any mods that would put a goth radio station in the game.

Sims team, WHERE IS THE GOTH MUSIC?! I'm sure there are goth music artists out there who would collab with you if you're struggling, and putting their music in the game might even encourage ppl to look up the artists' music on streaming platforms!

been in a 3ds era so booted up my new leaf town and was amazed nobody moved out, especially because portia told me it had been five years. that's not accurate bc i know i checked in on them right before new horizons came out, and at least once since i was living here, it's probably more like 2-1.5 years, but when i replaced the battery in the 3ds last yearish all the times and dates reset and i only just think i got it all working again (complicated little doohickey that can't sync like the switch does, plus i had like the homebrew time set correctly but apparently the device itself keeps time differently?)

considered modding/playing with it but honestly, sort of just leaving it like a little time capsule. i might swap out a few villagers with amiibo though if i get the urge....what i really miss is how new leaf had the island with all those minigames, it was so good and fun for multiplayer and i wish new horizons had that!! i love the customization of new horizons but

also installed wild world and playing with that a little - i started with city folk for a few months before getting new leaf with my 3ds but ww and cf are so similar that it feels familiar. it's such a different vibe, so much less focus on customization and tom nook and co are so much meaner (and still nicer than the gamecube screenshots i've seen....) and of course i got fucking PEARS again which is becoming an impressive record. every single time i've started an animal crossing game i get pears (my new horizons town has cherries only because i reset it at least twice trying to get anything but pears.) feels so statistically improbable at this point. goddamn pears (don't like pears irl and don't like how they look in the games, they blend with the trees and the other fruits are prettier lmao).

lots of other games and mods i've been poking around with, it is such a fun little console. this was meant to be a general 3ds post but it ended up just being animal crossing. having lots of fun with mk7 mods though

1. Name a game that is really important to you.

Lego Star wars 2 the original trilogy on the ps2 no question. It was the first modern game we ever owned, and my brother and I have beaten it either 2 or 3 times. Technically we played Lego Indiana Jones first I think, but this was the first one we had (and then we went to game stop and bought all the LEGO TT games available at the time for the PS2 lol)

15. Name a game you liked better than you thought you would. 

I'll put Inscryption and Undertale in this answer, bc I knew I'd like them, but i underestimated by how much. Inscryption especially, bc I REALLY like that game. One part card game, one part not (I won't say too much cuz idk how much you've seen, and I encourage you to go in blind if you wanna play it yourself), this is actually the first game I've ever bought as a result of Markiplier playing it. And it was definitely worth it; I don't think I bought it on sale, either lol. I've finished the main game, and now I'm stuck on the challenges and getting the achievements (I also haven't been able to play in months :( I can't devote an hour in the evening most of the time).

Alternative answer would be Just Dance, but SPECIFICALLY for the Kinect. That's the truest iteration of the game, and I wish I had a Kinect or that another console could truly replicate forcing you to actually get up and dance as opposed to being able to cheese it by sitting down (which peeves me to no end bc I feel like it's not worth it at that point...)

But I hate that the romance is created with sex as the end goal 😭 I wanna be able to romance the characters and enjoy what otherwise sounds like an awesome game, but the fact that sex as the default really is annoying, cuz that's not now I go about things, especially when it's at the culmination of realization of feelings and not much later?? Like bro, you barely know me at that point. And idk if there's a mod that could change it sufficiently bc that would probably require rewriting a lot of stuff and I know there's "ace" mods out there but I get the sense it might mess with the romance...and if i dont do the romance at all, then that's half of the gameplay gone. It really bums me out :( I wanna play this so so badly. There should have been a real secondary option available for the demographic of "I want romance but not sex" which I know is out there thanks to Tumblr (if bs3 does have this option, nobody's ever talked about it....)

ngl all the bedrock hate really bums me out because like... i can't play java. im physically disabled and having to play it with my keyboard really hurts. and java has literally no support for controllers, so bedrock is the version that's actually somewhat accessible to me. and then idiots go and tell me "but there's controller mods for java! why not install them instead of playing stupid bedrock?" ...when uh. controller support should be built into java instead of me having to go out my way to find a controller mod that actually works

these are probably the same people who hate the autojump option though (also a lifesaver for me) so..... don't really suprise me. just disappointing.

i remember being on call with @re-bi-vebur while they were trying to set up a controller mod to be able to play on java and it sounded like he was being waterboarded the whole time.

it sucks bc ppl will make fun of bedrock- and yeah, it sucks no subtitles like thats an actually shitty move to not have it in bedrock- but aside from that its like... the most accessible version of the game. you can play on console pc and mobile and they all can run realms together with people on different devices, connecting people all over the world. and sometimes its like well not to drop a buzzword but its bordering on ableism.

Has anyone else randomly gotten a Karlach romance scene, even when you've never flirted with her or anything? Bc I'm stuck and confused, and would like help if possible. And further preface, I play on PS5, so can't mod anything or use console commands.

I just got what I'm assuming is the scene you get with her if you spend time with her after the tiefling party. She came over, woke me up, and ended up leading into her saying she wanted to ride me until she saw stars. I'm just...so confused.

First, again, I've not flirted at ALL. Barely spoken to her yet, in fact. Second, I haven't rescued Halsin yet, or even gotten to the goblin camp, so there shouldn't be ANY party dialogue happening. This literally came out of nowhere when I tried to long rest, and reloading isn't helping. The scene still plays out if I long rest.

This is my third run and it's never happened before. I'm just so confused, and I'd like to avoid the scene if I can bc I really don't want to have to reject her.

Wolf; I prefer to tame cats, because they scare away creepers and I'm terrible at keeping an eye on my surroundings, but if I have bones on me and there's a wolf near by, I don't go out of my way to avoid taming them :) they're useful, mostly admittedly because I'm bad at the 'new' combat system - can't see the bar to know the timing, and I have a terrible internal sense of such.

Tree; I'm partial to acacia trees and dark oak wood! Spruce, I like a lot, just not as much. Birch is painfully bright, while jungle is pretty situational and oak is just... kinda there.

Hotbar;

I like an organised inventory. From left to right; slot 1 - sword, then axe, pickaxe, shovel, followed by a slot that I swap between etc tools like hoes + shears + flint and steel, next is a water bucket because I'm clumsy and blind and likely to fall off things, and next is food, then torches. If I used elytra (I've never actually bothered to go get any yet since they were introduced; I tend to play on modded older versions) I'd swap the bucket out for rockets, probably! I make space for blocks as and when I need them availible, usually instead of etc tools and the water bucket. I like modded mc bc I like adding the hold alt to hotswap items from the inventory column above each hotbar slot mod - let's me free up some space by doubling up options so I can have some availability for quick access to blocks :). Mods my beloved qol changers lol

Calendar; Oh, forever, lol. Been playing minecraft snce I was 12-ish, 2012/13 or so! 1.7 would be the version of the game I started on, plus the legacy console edition. Really got into it in 2015, though - I was very busy playing skyrim in 2012&13, and besides yogs semi-scripted was still going strong then so there was less of a need for me to play it myself, since I could just watch a whole bunch of really funky stories unfold, and my computer at the time couldn't run modded well at all, and I prefer a modded experience in most modable games I play. :) but nearly all the stuff I watched in 2012-14 was dead and gone by 15, only flux buddies really remained, so I had reason to play it myself again (and doubly so Gopher was back to playing Bethesda games, so I didn't need to play those myself either, which spared up time for important things like my GCSEs, lmao). Anyway, I spend most of my time in 1.12 or 1.18, lately, though of course I did a stint in 1.16 and I'm trying out 1.19, though I'm considering waiting until 1.20 is fully established to move onto newer modpacks properly rather than just .easing around a bit and then going back to good ol' stoneblock or hexxit or what have you. I'm not a fully old school player, beta mc had a lot of things I'm not a major fan of and I do believe most additions since have improved the game - but I am a fan of the old school mods, so there's that, I guess. Can't help the Nostalgia :D. Plus, some of them are just good. Little Tiles is a great mod for builders, for example. Anyway, that's getting way off topic, lol.

One of the most fun things to do this round with Skyrim has been console commanding in a bunch of gold for Izzy (20k to start just bc), then console commanding the carry weight to be stupid high, then having him literally steal everything that isn't nailed down wherever we're clearing out bandits/skeletons/etc.

From there we hop from town to town (bc of course I've also used commands to activate every fast travel destination on the map already) just fucking up the local economy by selling ridiculous amounts of loot, purely bc this is also my hc for Ed and Izzy in the show (they're good at their jobs which is great! But each port only has so many merchants and so much coin and eventually I imagine it might be a thing of 'uh, actually put the rest of the loot back on the ship for the next port. They can't give us any more coin for all the loot we still have to sell')

And now I'm awake looking for boat/ship mods on steam for the game bc like. Izzy should have a goal to save up for now that I've got this rolling, and why not his own ship? Or at least a boat, since I already have a fishing mod installed.

people get real mad at the existence of save editors and in-game console access, mods that change any game mechanics or remove limits etc. and i really don't get it ??

like don't use them if you personally don't want to ?? and for any kind of online play, anything that gives unfair advantage is (usually) detected and banned. i do have issues w/ anticheat but that's a separate thing. also for speedruns and other official things there's set requirements.

people playing singleplayer should be able to enjoy the game how they wish ?? also just because the only way you can envision using 3rd party tools is to make a level 1 character immortal and give them infinite money and the best weapons shows how limited your creative thinking is. how limited your storytelling is.

sometimes it's saving time (avoiding a pointless grind), fixing a game-breaking bug, or even using the game to tell the story you want to

one of my skyrim characters is canonically old as fuck but that would make her OP, so she gets rough treatment from the imperial border guards, loses a lot of her memories, and spends the early game trying to figure out why she was crossing the border and what's going on. as things triggered her memories, i console-levelled her skills and gave her back certain perks. then i was ready to play the quest mods i'd installed (undeath and wheels of lull).

in outer worlds i usually do the whole edgewater questline and then when i get to leave in my ship i'll give myself a bajillion ammo bc i've had fun scavenging and trying to make each bullet count but now i'm past that and it just gets in the way ?? i also used it to test out different armor + mod combinations to figure out which ones i liked/suited my character and i should keep an eye out for.

in cyberpunk i have a wallclimb mod bc it makes sniper builds more viable, and it makes stealth missions way more fun. i also capped skill levels at their attribute's max (eg quickhack can't be higher than technical), added e-shops and mods to adjust the first person vehicle camera

✿ Surprises are the key to this relationship. Surprise kisses, surprises presents, surprise bento boxes - it's all acceptable and admired.

✿ It's small moments like when she facetimes you while she's on her way to your house that makes your heart swell with happiness.

✿ You will run out of the house to meet her halfway, though. That's just a given.

i keep poking at radiant historia perfect chronology to try and rip sprites/art from it, but i think it's just above my skillset :') i've come at it from many angles and i just can't get the files converted/open - may require me to learn more about decrypting etc. not giving up altogether but not happening anytime soon. might try and see if i can crack open the original instead and see if i can get stuff out of there. also want to try cracking open a more mainstream 3ds game (something really basic and frequently modded) just to check if i can get in there at all. would love to be able to 3ds rip but nintendo consoles unsurprisingly hard to get into

cotc going good though. there's still a few things i'm struggling to find in the files (namely triangle strategy npcs like benedict and the character splash art) but i've hunted down almost everything i really wanted and it's just a matter of organizing and figuring out what's what and putting sheets together for submission. i hope i can get my hands on more updates later on but. for now i'll just pry everything i can out of this may 2024 version lol.

bd2 asset uploading remains on indefinite hiatus until sr approves the game as a category. figure it makes sense to work on cotc first since i can like. actually upload as i go (and as much as i love bd2 and the assets, hd-2d sprites are cooler than 3d game UI stuff.) i also still wanna play with animating the models in there more but not a priority. want to learn how to rip steam games with other engines too, since rn it's just unreal that i know

but i also wanna play with modding 3ds games (namely smash, mk7, the other basics) and installing fun stuff in there. i've really only modded my fe games so far. but the 3ds is so easy to play with now...

i'm hoping maybe the switch will end up like the 3ds once [next nintendo console] is out and it'll be more hackable and easy and safe to do so, because that would be so fun, but i'm also not getting my hopes up too high bc my understanding is the wii u is still kind of a pain to get going (and the switch is such a finicky little thing). still. dreams

this computer's ability to handle emulators is veryyyy limited but at some point i might embark on a journey to at least TRY and get a na and/or jp android running so i can try and get my hands on more current app updates. not counting on it though :') will probably need to get a new computer within the next year but for now old girl's limping along and she's FINE okay. want to expand my programming and tech knowledge in general in any ways i can, which is hard bc it is definitely not something that comes naturally to me, but i'm trying

same Doom anon -- oh Bethesda is def shitty and the login screen in the initial Unity port sucked ass, I'm not defending Bethesda or the initial awful release of the Unity port

but Nerve Software did the port, not Bethesda, and Nerve is largely ex-id employees who'd worked with id before Bethesda/Zenimax acquired id anyway

the port was a mess initially and deserved all the criticism it got, but they patched it over a year ago and it's actually like... the best official Doom release out there now tbh. especially if you're playing on PC, since on console you can't install most custom maps

the only thing really wrong with it now is improperly looped music for the main games' levels, which is hardly noticeable, but they fixed it so it's supported for the official add-ons -- those are like curated community levels, it's a way to release mods on consoles

honestly even among unofficial source ports, for vanilla Doom, it's a really good port now after updates for all the features and small adjustments, especially since Doom and Doom II both come with Final Doom via the add-on system and it's only $5 when not on sale (it goes on sale pretty often too)

even if people prefer other source ports, $5 is a good price just to get the wad files (they're like the resources, maps, etc. that you need to use source ports bc they can't distribute that with source ports bc those assets are still id's IP unlike the engine itself which they publicly released the source code for back in the 90s, which is why it's been ported so much by fans and really helped the longevity of the game and its community that still makes maps to this day, usually with a limit-removing source port)

hopefully I'm not bothering you talking about all this, it's kind of my special interest I guess!
