“He’ll protect you whenever I’m not there,” your grandma had said, handing you an adorable teddy bear, handcrafted by her. This teddy bear was filled to the brim with your grandma’s love for you, so you knew that you’d treasure it always.
It’s been years since then and you still remember the event fondly. Your grandma has long since passed and the teddy bear is now fuzzy with age. Even so, you adore the teddy bear enough that you’ve carried it with you through the years.
Still, your teddy bear is a little old now, so you decide to go to someone who can fix it up a little bit. You’re delighted when you hand your teddy bear over, excited to see it all fixed and sparkling. It’ll look like it did back then, when your grandma first gifted it to you.
Except… When you get back home, your teddy bear is right there on your bed.
You’re confused – you’re sure you handed over your teddy bear today. But why is it on your bed? Maybe you just… dreamt it? But the receipt from the shop says otherwise.
Truthfully, you’re a little freaked out, so you decide to place your teddy bear on your kitchen counter to take it back to the fixing shop tomorrow. Quietly, you snuggle into your blankets, your bedroom door locked.
When you wake up the next morning, you come eye to eye with your teddy bear’s button eye, making you freak out.
Just how did it get in your room?!
Without much thought, you grab your teddy bear, shoving it in a safe box. You lock it in there, hands trembling. It’s still a precious gift from your grandma, so you don’t want to throw it away, but you need it somewhere far from you or else you fear you’ll go insane.
So, you lock your teddy bear in a safe box. Then, you lock the safe in your storage room. Finally, you lock your bedroom once more for the night.
At night time, you struggle to go to sleep, mind racing. In fact, you’re not sure when you dozed off. But now you’re on the cusp of waking up, your back warm as you’re held in a tight embrace.
“Hm? Oh, are you awake?” a warm voice dipped in honey asks. It sends chills down your spine, your sleep disintegrating from your being.
No one should be in the room with you.
“Don’t do that,” the voice chastises as you struggle against him. He tightens his grip on your waist, snuggling his nose against your neck. “I’m supposed to protect you, just like grandma said. So just stay still, okay? I’ve got you.”
