I just want you to know that I am obsessed with ur It Devours! Fanart and anything and would like to ask if u have special hcs based solely on the book?
OH IM SO HAPPY YOU LIKE MU IT DEVOURS FANART THAT BOOK MAKES ME SO HAPPY. So I have like. A VERYY long list of very specific Nilanjana x Darryl headcanons but. For the general cast of It devours I do have a lot of weirdly niche headcanons,, for the main characters of the podcast I have a lot toooo but. Lemme give these characters a spotlight for a sec i care them sosos much
Stephanie is a character I really like actually! and I wish we had more on her. Especially at the end when Darryl says she’s changing the church for the better I REALLY wanna know how! And if I remember correctly she was actually the one that draws the pamphlet art and I just took that and went to town with it. She’s one of those creepy artists that looks intimidating but is actually rlly sweet?? I genuinely want to believe she’s doing good for the church!!
Another small headcanon I have for her is that she dresses all black with small specks of gold. Before becoming the pastor she used silver as an accent instead! Lil symbolism ooooo :3c
Jamillah and Stephanie should be besties I will not hear anything else ever,,,
JAMILLAH IS A LESBIAN I DONT KNOW WHU DONT ASKKKKKKK‼️‼️ SHE JUST ISS‼️
OKAY MOVING ON FROM THOSE 2. Mark looks like a graphic tee guy? Also very straight I don’t know why
He’d be listening to ed Sheeran but also ed Sheeran in nightvale would be 5 ducks tapped together that run around in circles because this is nightvale we’re talking about
OKAY I CANT HOLD IT IN ANYMORE HERES SOME DARRYL AND NILANJANA HEADCANONS :3c
NILANJANA DOESNT SHAVE SHE DOESNT SHAVEEEE‼️ she felt the pressure before she got to nightvale but then. She arrived to nightvale and saw that no one cared, so she stopped caring herself
Darryl uses the dreaded 3 and 1 shampoo and conditioner meanwhile nilanjana just goes to Carlos for any good hair products he can recommend cause she doesn’t Trust Night Valian hair salons
Darryl collects pins and stamps from places outside night vale, he has never left the area but he still manages to find em somehow! He likes hearing about Nilanjana’s time in Indiana and she’d buy him some cool pins from there when visiting her parents too :]
Okay last one before I go deranged she hates hair over her face meanwhile Darryl just uses clip ons:3
Nilanjana‘s left handed and Darryl is ambidextrous because he’s just that good at writing
Darryl would put The Book Of Smiles quotes on his profile. This kinda shit would ensue
#asks#in other news#I have more but this is too long already.#I have so many thoughts about these guys

I was tagged by @rampagewriting to do this fun and interesting get to know me survey! :) Thanks for the tag lovely!
0) Name/Nickname? If ya wanna share it.
Jamie. Nickname? J and I know @rampagewriting calls me Sami sometimes. lol
1) If you could bring any two fictional characters (from books or film/tv) into the same world who would they be, what world would you put them in, and what would their relationship to each other be?
Hmm, this is an interesting question. I’d probably put Sam and Dean from Supernatural into True Blood. Real monsters... They would still be brothers because why not? But I’d like them to try and figure out the whole TB universe.
2) If you could drop yourself into any fictional world from books or film/tv, which would it be?
I’d go with The Tudors. Historical but mildly inaccurate and I’m not gonna lie, I’d love to wear those dresses and jewels. Probably The Witcher as well.
3) What’s your spirit animal?
Ummm, animal would probably be a american husky. (I, too, shed like crazy and am extremely sassy) But I usually say Louise Belcher (Bob’s Burgers) and Karen Walker (Will & Grace) are both my spirit animals lol
4) What is the most unpopular opinion you hold?
HAHAHAHA NO. Nope. This is a trap.... I don’t like a lot of the people most of the people I follow thirst over. Some of it... idk man. But this is also coming from someone who fucking absolutely loves a fucking lanky ginger weirdo.
5) How do you like to style your hair most often?
Ponytail. 90% of the time in a messy knot with or without a clip in the front for a little bump thing. It’s my go to.
6) I always love this overdone question - you’re allowed three books on a desert island, what do you bring? (Note: Survival Guides don’t count).
The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice (I own the book that has the first three in one! Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned), Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, and Sweet Surrender by Maya Banks.
7) Something new you’ve learned in quarantine/lockdown/corona times?
I can in fact play video games... and I’m teaching myself how to properly use a sewing machine.
8) Favorite alcohol? (Or non-alcoholic beverage if you don’t drink!)
Depends on my mood. Right now I absolutely love Pink Whitney (pink lemonade vodka) with lemonade or sprite. I also fell in love with Crown Royal Apple with triple sec and cranberry juice. I also love a good beer. I currently have Fat Tire and Brooklyn Brewery Summer Ale in the fridge... also lime Truly.
9) Music you can’t stand? Music you love?
Honestly there isn’t much I “can’t stand” ... I just would prefer something else? I dislike K-POP. I don’t fucking get it. (there’s an unpopular opinion for you). I LOVE EVERYTHING... I have eclectic taste. Country one minute... to Prog Metal to Pop.... fuck I’ll throw on Classical too or like 50s era stuff. Depends on my mood.
10) Have a favorite herb?
How is this a question?! Rosemary, thyme, basil are all my go to of choice when cooking. I have sage on hand for other reasons... I own so many fucking spices it’s ridiculous. I’m fucking Italian for Christ sake... if your food doesn’t have at least 3 seasonal items are you even cooking?!
11) What kinds of cups/glasses/bottles do you prefer to drink out of?
I have an obsession with cold cups. You know ones with lids and straws. I own about 230948320958324 starbucks ones. Also if it has a mermaid and/or sparkles? I’ll fucking buy it. I also love pint glasses and very rarely pay for them thanks to the bar my family frequents.
12) Preferred mode of communication: texts, phone calls, emails, letters?
Text. Don’t call me unless this is gonna take a while to explain. I do enjoy snail mail though.
13) What is your favorite weather?
I love a warm, dry (humid free!) daytime. Something where you are super comfortable with a t-shirt and jeans (or shorts if you feel the need) but then it gets super crisp at night where a fire outside is required with a sweatshirt. Fall is usually my favorite time of year, but summer down the shore where I can sit on the beach during the day and hang out in the yard at night is a favorite.
14) What kind of lighting do you like?
I enjoy a softer light? Lamps, wire lights (christmas lights), candles. I have wire lights all year long in my house around my window and in my windows (I keep it decorated all year long)
15) What is the best thing you cook?
Everything. I’ve had no complaints. LOL the big winners are my sriracha potato salad, Caprese chicken pasta, roasted/grilled mixed vegetables.... there’s a lot.
16) Do you have a favorite font to write in?
Can’t say I have a favorite. It’s been a while. I like scroll fonts really, or anything kinda of deconstructed?
17) What is something you’ve always wanted to write in a fic, but you’ve been too afraid to? Or, what is something that you were afraid to write, but then you did and it ended awesome?
I have a lot of stuff that comes across my mind that I love fucking love to write but then don’t for reasons... But I always get scared to write smut because nothing pisses me off more than when someone writes it and it’s not fucking possible. Like it’s not exactly realistic.... IDK lol
18) If you were in your favorite fantasy world, what would your weapon of choice be?
Weapon???? Probably some sort of knife/sword. I used to be decent with a bow but yeah that was forever ago. Maybe be decent with like poison. The gratification of watching someone slowly suffer is fun. LOL
19) Is there a commonly used expression/saying that you can’t stand?
(I feel you K, your answer was spot on). Shit like “It’s in God’s hands...” etc. NAH SORRY. You can fix things for yourself or that person who caused the problem could have NOT fucking been dumb. Also it’s always fun to return my co-workers’ “Not today Satan” or “y’all are going to hell” with “No, it’s ok I welcome it.”
20) What is something that you would like people to know about you?
I am pretty much a sarcastic asshole in real life... but I will go out of my way to help someone or teach them. Especially my patients, I will go that extra mile to help them with things (insurances especially) to make sure they get it and not let anyone take advantage of them. Also my co-workers if they can’t fight for themselves with owners. I try to be as fair as I can as a manager. If I wasn’t in the job I was in, I most likely would have been a teacher but I absolutely hate kids I don’t know, unless it’s a baby. Babies are cool with me, but other kids that have no relation to me (family, friends) I absolutely can’t fucking stand them.
Tagging: @snarkandsarcasmftw @baloraffe @laochbaineann @superrezzy00And whoever else wants to do this...

Rank all the dramas (okay fine nevermind that's probably too hard sooo maybe top 5 or top 10... up to you) that you're currently watching now - from most anticipated/enjoyed etc to least. Thank you! :)
I thought at first you were going to ask me to rate all the dramas I’ve watched and quailed but luckily this is doable so I am doing all of them.
24. Flower Crew - solid and unmemorable at once.
23. The Great Craftsman - I like it but I am so early in, I don’t have much of an impression yet.
22. Devilish Joy - nice but omg that filter needs to die!!!!
21. The Secret Life of my Secretary - not higher because I literally know nothing of it other than the cute premise and the actors.
20. The Tale of Nokdu - it’s fluffy and cute and I am enjoying it but I have never invested emotionally in a comedy and this one is not gonna break the mold for that.
19 Her Private Life - it looks adorable, I just can’t at the moment because all I can see is Sec Kim.
18. Search WWW - one of those that I will probably put higher once I watch more of it, but I hate the washed out palette.
17. Legend of the Phoenix - I love it but the minor characters are flattish. Mains are amazing.
16. Deserving of the Name - looks solid and I am a fan of KNG but medical dramas never get me insanely obsessed at least so far.
15. Goodbye My Princess - love the emo, but the politics is blah. Gorgeous as hell tho.
14. While You Were Sleeping - I love I Hear Your Voice and Pinocchio too much and this doesn’t seem as awesome but I still have hopes for it being satisfying (unlike a lot of people, I genuinely like watching Suzy on screen.)
13. One Spring Night - slow and gorgeous; it will probably move higher the more in I am.
12. Rebel: The Thief Who Stole the People - very solid but I am not as in love as I wanted to be.
11. Angel’s Last Mission - Love - I don’t think L is the best actor ever but he’s fine and the story is grabby. I’d probably have it higher if it was a male lead I was rabid about him it’s pretty darn high anyway.
10. Haechi - I’ve just really been looking forward to this one for some reason.
9. Fates and Furies - I love and crave old school melo they don’t make much of any more.
8. Still 17/30 But 17 - this one is anticipation on spec but because of clips I’ve seen and the fact that I now am gonna watch YSJ in basically everything, I have hopes.
7. Mr Sunshine - just started but it’s gonna own me, I can tell.
6. Love and Destiny - I am a sucker for fantasy romance and with such heavy-hitter leads to boot.
5. Just Between Lovers - realistic and moving, like an old school jdrama.
4. Lovers - it’s a rewatch so won’t compare with obsession of first view or it would be higher, but I still adore it so.
3. The Legend - it’s a rewatch so won’t compare with obsession of first view or it would be higher, but I still adore it so.
2. Extraordinary You - a surprising favorite, this hooked me and makes ne think of things before eps.
1. My Country - I am so obsessed with this one, it’s sick.

1, 2, 8, 11, 15 :)
these are so deep I really have to think about them.
if someone wanted to really understand you, what would they read, watch, and listen to?
mmmh my family quotes a lot of things included Clerks the Animated Series, Anchorman, commericals from the 1960s. But thats mostly my dad rubbing off the rest of my family. If you wanted to understand me? I think you would have to read fanfiction. There is nothing quite like it and I have spent most of my free time reading it since I was 12. Watch? Probably Red v Blue. It’s exactly my humor and I love it. Also Bake Off. I am very noncompetitive and thats what I would be like in a tv show. And listen, I am going to say the podcast Nancy. It so perfectly describes what its like to be queer and I cry anytime I listen to it.
have you ever found a writer who thinks just like you? if so, who?
This is an interesting question. I don’t usually seek out writers because they think the same as me. Rather I seek out writers who show me something new. I will say that I began to read memoir because I loved the interior of women’s thoughts. The first one that turned me on to memoirs was Crazy Brave by Jo Harjo. Probably my favorite is Just Kids by Patti Smith. Although neither of these women are anything like me. Both had children very young, both experienced homelessness. But I think I was so mesmerized by how women navigate and investigate the world. Where we are alike and where we are disimilar. One fiction book where I felt so connected to a character, even though we were nothing alike was Ivy Abereen’s Letter to The World. Its a middle grade book about a girl figuring out her sexuality while she suffers through relocation after a hurricane. I was very different from Ivy, but the author could write so clearly about confusing gay feelings, and just being angry all the time when it feels like no one is listening. 5/5 book.
8. what musical artists have you most felt connected to over your lifetime?
Well when I began to listen to music I listened to what my brother listed to. I would say two of my parents where Green Day and Linkin Park. I listened to these as early as kindergarten. My first personal venture into music was Kelly Clarkson. Come Undone was huge when I was in 5th grade. In middle school I was pretty into Three Days Grace. I don’t really remember what I listened to in high school. Probably Imagine Dragons (i’ve seen them in concert 3 times). In college I went through a phase where I realized that I didn’t have my own music identity really. I got really into spotify’s discovery weekly. I would listen to 30 sec clips and decide if I wanted to get to know the song. I would then add it to a playlist called “experiment” which I was supposed to listen to for an hour a week. When I listened to a song enough times, I would either add it to “my songs” or I would delete it forever. This did not work. It was supposed to be capped at 100 songs and its at about 600 right now. BUT what I learned. I ventured a bit into electronic music and now I hate it. I need to be able to hear the instruments. I still recommendations for it today. What I landed it on was actually the music in Welcome to Night Vale. So I went from alt and punk rock to more indie rock. Now I mostly either listen to my music on shuffle or listen to showtunes (another staple in my life) but the last group I was obsessed with that got added was Harry Styles. When is he releasing new music??? To be honest, I don’t listen to a lot of music anymore. I mostly read audiobooks or listen to podcasts now. I also got back into Sum 41 and Fleetwood Mac recently (what a combo lol).
11.describe your ideal day.
Wake up at about 9:30 am. I have nowhere to be. I eat a late breakfast. Something with fried eggs. After a prolonged breakfast, I decide to take a short nap and go back to sleep. A wake up in time for lunch. In the afternoon, I read a book, maybe take a trip to the library. Maybe I have an academic discussion with someone but I don’t have any pressing homework. I have a nice dinner (potatoes, or tomato soap, or poutine, or sushi). I watch youtube videos until about midnight and go to bed early. Or I have a few drinks at a bar with friends but I am home by 10.
15. five most influential books over your lifetime.
I love this question!!! okay. 1) Bridge to Terebithia- first book that made me fall in love with reading. 2) Hope Was Here - my first favorite book. everything I like in a book. A new york teenager moves to small midwestern town and falls in love with it. The short order cook becomes her step father and wants to run for mayor against the local villain who has been major for like 20 years. She does everything she can to dismantle the local government and get her new stepfather in seat. 3) Hero by Perry Moore. Second favorite book. Also one of the early books that I read because it was gay. Angst! Gay! Superheroes! What is not to love! I am so sad that the author died after one book. 4) The Outsiders. I think I just like to suffer. All of these are sometimes or majorly sad but hopeful. 5) Crazy Brave by Jo Harjo. Got me interested in nonfiction. I now actively seek memoirs by poets of color because of her. (Just Kids is also a memoir of a poet)
Honorable mentions: Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, Impulse by Ellen Hopkins, Just Kids by Patti Smith, The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin, The Color of Water by James McBride,

Press Release:
Through the use of puppets both computer-generated and hand-made, the recent work of Andrew Norman Wilson stages inescapable narrative scenarios in which rational thought becomes contradictory and human exceptionalism unravels. Drawn from the popular imagination, the videos’ anthropomorphized characters mimic our emotions and behavior while exploiting the illusory and uncertain qualities of puppetry. In the words of the artist, “Being a person means being paranoid that you might be a puppet of some other force, like economic networks or algorithms or genetic coding.” Divided, replicated, transposed, and multiplied, Wilson’s puppets are subjected to biological and computational functions within infinitely looping narratives where perceptual play reigns and human reason offers no escape.
The Unthinkable Bygone (2016) was the first project Wilson developed in collaboration with the animator Vlad Maftei, whose experience includes realistic simulations of vital organs for the healthcare industry as well as the limitless elasticity of a 4D Spongebob Squarepants film. For Wilson, such overlaps of scientific visualization and popular cinematic technique are a key site for understanding science as a cultural practice that offers information about matter without revealing a consciousness-piercing truth. Together Wilson and Maftei created a 3D model of Baby Sinclair from Jim Henson’s animatronic puppet TV series Dinosaurs (1991-94) and subjected him to varied forms of scientific analysis, including simulation, dissection, reflection, and endoscopy. What emerges is an infinite loop in which speculation on an organism’s intelligence, experience, and points of view inevitably reveal the influence of cinematic and televisual convention, and leave us knowing less than we did at the beginning of the experiment.
Reality Models (2016) is a shot-by-shot recreation of a scene from “Peppermint Park,” an educational home video series produced in the 1980s by a group of investors seeking to profit off the narrative models that “Sesame Street” invented for educational children’s entertainment. A s the artist recounts, “Growing up, a family friend had several copies of the VHS tapes and I remember being terrified of an unexplained dance sequence by a breakaway puppet dressed to look like a scarecrow. A few years ago, clips from the show resurfaced online, and my relationship with the dancing scarecrow has shifted from horror to obsession.” Wilson added a backstage scene that reveals the puppet as h is own puppeteer. Inspired by a 2010 experiment by the physicist Aaron O’Connell, the scene dramatizes the discovery that an object visible to the naked human eye can be in two places at once, thus demonstrating the influence of quantum physics on objects larger than atoms. In his essay on the video, Wilson writes, “From here it starts to seem like existing means being inconsistent, while dying means becoming consistent. Or that classical logic – where things are either A or B , but never A and B at the same time – is being replaced by a quantum logic which says t hat all future possibilities exist i n the p resent.” O ne could say t he narrative operates analogically to that idea. Or, it’s a demonstration of how, in cinema and literature, narrative closure occurs when plot and story arrive at a 1:1 ratio: consistency. At its most basic, it’s the s tory of an artist torn between their public persona and the private struggle of day-to-day survival. Whatever it means, Reality Models is about just that: whatever it means. In the words of O’Connell, “People have models of reality, and those models are descriptions, but they d on’t get you any closer to the truth.”
Ode to Seekers 2012 (2016) was the second project Wilson developed in collaboration with Maftei and was initially conceived during treatment at Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg New York, which contains the abandoned children’s ward seen in the video. Loosely based on John Keats’ poem “Ode on a Grecian Urn” (1820), the work emerges from a translation of the formal techniques of Keats’ textual ode to an infinitely looping video. Ekphrasis – the graphic, dramatic description of a visual work of art – shifts from Keats’ urn and the celebratory scene it depicts to an abandoned children’s ward at a mental institution and a computer-generated scene composed by Wilson and Maftei. “What mad pursuit? What struggle to escape? What pipes and timbrels? What wild ecstasy?” The questions that Keats asks of the images on the urn are visually translated for the viewer of Seekers , transposing the poet’s queries to a scene in which a mosquito, a syringe, and an oil pump all thrust their piercers into a surface that looks at once like human skin under a microscope, desert salt flats, and potato casserole. Sifting through the artist’s experiences with mosquito-borne illness, drug addiction, and climate change, the work operates as both a questioning of and a testament to the choice to continue to make art, or do anything at all, when every attempt to love, desensitize, or survive inevitably entails traumatic destruction.
A sculpture entitled Robin Williams Window Shade (2015) is mounted in the former cinema. The artist bought a resin cast of Robin’s head from a Hollywood prop studio that was made when the actor was still alive. Face casts seem to anticipate a person’s death – they not only require the person to “play dead” during the making of the mold, but they also outlive the person, turning their form into a replicable commemoration. Wilson 3D-scanned the cast and worked with a 3D modeler to open its eyes and make it grimace in the way Robin Williams was known to do. He also 3D-scanned an alligator clip that the modeler used to pinch his eyebrow within the software. The clip, but not its effect, was then removed and the model was 3D printed and thrust through a hole in a piece of faux leather. As with the baby dinosaur from The Unthinkable Bygone , Wilson picks up traces of forms, copies of copies, and attempts to reanimate the affect of their source towards atypical ends. He writes, “With the face print in my hands, I am ecstatic. Then, a feeling that something was always absent, regardless of the fact that it’s a faceprint of a faceprint of a faceprint of a face. Like any object itself, Robin himself was never an adequate expression of his actual existence. In person, he sparkled with the same mysterious absence as this powder print in my hands, or as in the projection I saw of Mrs. Doubtfire’s face, covered in cake icing, yelling ‘toodaloo’ from behind a refrigerator door. The object is mournful – it holds on to the feeling of something slipping away. It’s about being respectful, being true, but knowing that you are losing something. Treasuring an illusion, while kissing it goodbye.”
Mosquito Computer (2015-2017) is a custom computer case that has been modified to house multiple generations of mosquitoes over the course of an art exhibition. Inside the case is a mosquito colony, a hard drive enclosure with a small pond inside for larvae to grow, and another hard drive enclosure filled with tree resin that serves as both a food supply and a preservation medium for dead mosquitoes. The multi-generational family drama On Golden Pond (1981) is projected onto the case to serve as visual stimuli for the mosquitoes. Over the course of the exhibition, the female mosquitoes are fed blood meals sourced from the artist’s veins to afford them the protein they need to make their eggs. These blood meals also allow the artist to store his genetic information temporarily in the mosquitoes’ bodies, and permanently in the tree resin once it becomes amber. According to the narrative of Jurassic Park (1993), this could allow for clones of the artist to be produced in the future.
