STFUATTDLAGG
character/s: choso kamo x afab!reader
SYNOPSIS: meangirl!reader x loser!choso is a pairing that lives in my head rent free so when you all voted for choso to be the next hot man i wrote for i knew this was what would come out of it so let’s get into it whores
WARNINGS: this is college based bc u know why. 18+, nsfw, mdni, the whole shebang, kiddos avert ur eyes IT'S ALL SMUT / also just be aware i did use fem language for reader. as always, i did not proof read xxx
A/N: delusion is like drugs for simps, and i am the crackhead
Choso isn't like a nerdy loser, more like he’s just an emo boy, he’s got that alternative look going on and in a school full of preppy rich kids he stands out like a sore thumb. Of course this leads to some not so nice kids being not so nice to him, to which like he literally could not care less. He pays no mind to what anyone thinks of him beyond of course what his brothers think of him.
And as much as people aren’t nice to him, they do not fuck with him directly, lowkey scared of his reactions. Especially following a specfic incident in which someone tried to pick a fight with him. At first he was going to just let it slide but then they said something rude about Yuuji and this man laid them out. People were sent to urgent care and everything. Choso was put on suspension and almost kicked out, but their family friend is a lawyer and threatened to sue the school and anyways (if you know who you know who) so he was allowed back at school and everyone’s a little weary of him. This doesn’t stop the mean comments from coming.
And you. You’re no exception. You made fun of him every chance you got. The way he always did his hair in that weird double bun updo, or how he had his nails painted black, his various piercings and tattoos, the way he dressed so much different, was so much different, than any of the other guys you knew at school.
And you were so disgustingly attracted to him. While everyone would sneer and make fun of him and you played along, in reality you were internally berating yourself.
Choso did his best to ignore you but to be honest in the end you were just too fun to mess with. He thought it was cute how you thought you could hurt his feelings, how you really tried, and didn’t realize that he had a thing for brats and that’s just what you were. Everyone else was too afraid to say it straight to his face ever since the fight except for you.
One time he caught you staring at him and he couldn’t help himself, leaning over with a careless smirk. "If you spent less time staring at me and more time paying attention to the lecture maybe you wouldn’t be failing the class."
"Fuck you, Choso.”
"You’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
You hoped he’d mistake your embarrassment for anger. He didn’t. You snapped back, as usual. "Maybe if you didn’t dress like such a freak, you’d actually have some friends.”
"Maybe if you weren’t such a bitch your boyfriends would actually stick around for longer than a few months."
The one stung, and you tried not to let it show. Thrown off your game, all you could bring yourself to reply back was: “don’t call me a bitch.”
He shrugged, as though he were bored with the conversation already. "I never said it was a bad thing, just that you keep dating dudes who can’t handle you."
"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”
He doesn't answer though, and you spend way too much time thinking about what he could've meant. Was he implying that he could handle you? Was that why he constantly found ways to poke at you? Did he like when you were a brat? Did it matter if he liked it? It led your fantasies down a deep and dark rabbit hole that you spent weeks harping on.
Things get even worse after you realize that Choso might’ve been right about your grades slipping and staring at him in class and whatnot. And (for plot reasons of course) that would mean your professor paired you up with him for the final project so that you’d stand a better chance at passing the class.
Which is how you find yourself standing outside of his apartment door, debating how much you need to actually pass the course for your degree. You kept coming to the same conclusion. You definitely needed to.
"You just gonna stand at my door like a creep or can you move so i can let you inside?” He stood at the top of the staircase up to his apartment, watching you with another bored expression.
You're reaction is second nature. "I’m the creep? How long were you just standing there watching me? Maybe I’d already knocked and you didn’t answer so I was waiting. Let’s get on with it, I don’t need anyone seeing me hanging around-”
"Alright relax, princess. No one’s around to hear you act like you hate me. Come inside and I’ll grab us something to drink.” He opened the door to let you both inside, holding it open for you to enter first.
"First off, I do hate you. And second, how do I know you’re not going to poison me?”
"Don’t worry, I wouldn’t poison you. The plan was going more in the direction of choking.”
"Choked to death? Good to know.”
"You implied killing. All i said was choking.”
"Oh, gross.” You groaned. You pushed away the images that were brought to your mind. Choso's hand around your throat, fingers in your mouth, his breathy whispers telling you what else he'd have you choking on by the end of the night.
It's not too bad for the first few hours. You start out working on the project in the living room, but Choso’s neighbors are loud as all hell and you eventually ask if you guys can move into a room away from that shared wall. And (of course for plot purposes) that would be his bedroom.
"Your bedroom is exactly as I pictured it would be."
"This is the part where I make fun of you for picturing what my bedroom looks like."
"Yeah weird and creepy, just like you.”
"Your insults are getting less and less creative.”
"Yeah well….shut up.”
He’s surprised at that, usually you’d come back at him with something witty and clever and he actually enjoyed it.
It’s quiet and he’s sitting at his desk while you lay casually on his bed when he decides now’s as good a time as ever, and he might never actually get you alone again to say it.
"You ever gonna admit that you find me attractive or keep lying to the both of us?"
You wince. "I don't find you attractive. Stop flattering yourself."
"You flatter me enough with all the staring and drooling you do over me in class."
"You're obsessive," you snap at him.
"At least i can admit it."
You're caught off guard, stuck between wanting to ask what he means and not wanting to give in to the obvious baiting he's doing. When he throws the study material down on to his desk and plops down in front of you on his bed, it seems like he's resigned to not giving you that choice.
"Tell you what, I'll tell you all of the dirty and depraved things I think about on a daily basis, and you can decide after whether you'd like to share those same thoughts of yours with me or not."
"Why would I want to hear any of the thoughts in your head?"
"Because a lot of them revolve directly around you." He's leaned so close you're almost touching one another. Your silence is enough to spur him on. "I think you've never been fucked properly before."
You can't contain the look that falls on your face. "Seriously? This what you think about? My sex life is none of your business, but I'm doing just fine in that department, thank you very much."
He ignores you. "I don't think you've ever been told to shut the fuck up and take it like the good girl I know you can be." That shut you up real quick. Choso is on his knees in front of you, hands cupping around your neck, his thumbs running across your cheeks. "You're whiney little fucking attitude not do it for your boyfriends?" He teased. "They not know how to deal with you when you're being a brat, huh?"
You're head moves without conscious effort, nodding to agree with him.
"You just want some attention, don't you?"
Another nod.
"You want my attention, don't you?"
Hesitation. But you can't help yourself, his presence looming heavy over you, pushing you to admit what you'd kept in the dark for so long.
One of his hands slithers from your throat, down your chest, under the sweats you threw on in a rush to get to his apartment. You're so distracted by his fingers that you don't notice his face moving closer until his mouth is prying yours open. That's all it takes from him to have you stroking your fingers through his hair, pulling it out of the buns they typically are held in.
"Such a little brat." He's hovering over you, pushing your hips into the soft cushion of his bed with his. "Feel how hard it makes me?" He teases as he grinds his hips down, his clothed cock sliding against your center. Your eyes flutter and he grips onto your face with one hand, squeezing firmly. "You're gonna fuck me tonight. Nod if you understand."
You can't believe how quick your head moves up and down. "You're gonna take off those pretty little panties you wore hoping I'd get to see and slide up and down my dick until I tell you to stop. I don't want you cumming until I feel you've begged enough."
It takes no time at all for him to flip the two of you and prop himself up on his forearms. His pants are shimmied off and thrown to his bedroom floor alongside yours.
Your hands are desperate to line him up, anticipation building to have him deep inside of you, but his shoot out to pull them up and place them against his chest. "No, no, no. You don't get me inside you yet, not until you prove to me you deserve it." He urges you along his shaft, flat against his stomach. "That's right, be a good little slut for me and let me feel that pussy slide against my dick."
You watch him from above, his face contorting from concentration to pleasure to near desperation. You've never felt as powerful as you did riding him. Not a single one of your boyfriends ever turning you on as much as Choso was right now. He made you work for it, praising you when you did what he asked, and you chased that praise.
"Shit, look at that baby," he grabbed your hair and yanked your face down to watch yourself slide against him. "Need to feel you squeeze that pussy around me. Fuck, slide me in, slide me in-" his loud groans matched your high pitched sound of relief at having him seated inside you. "Fuck this."
He flipped the two of you back over, gripping each of your legs and forcing them up. "Hold right under your knees for me. Good girl, keep yourself open for me, let me just use you." He fell to his forearms as he plowed into you, giving you no time to get used to any sort of pace.
You tried your best to hold your legs, but you wanted so badly to touch him. One of your hands wandered back up into his lose hair.
He could barely keep his eyes open, mumbling all kinds of truths you were sure he would've kept locked inside had he not been so drunk on the feel of being inside you. "So fucking pretty," he kissed you sloppily, "such a stupid fucking brat, just needed my cock inside you. Feel like heaven, baby. Gonna let me cum inside your little cunt, right? Made me wait so fucking long to have you, I deserve it. Don't I deserve it?"
You can barely form any coherent words, setting for nodding and breathy uh huhs.
"So fucking mean to me, and look how good I'm being to you, huh?" You feel the light slap of his head against your cheek. "Say your sorry, beg me to cum inside your pussy."
You do beg, your apology comes out in between the stuttering and slurring of your words, but you beg and plead with him until he concedes. It his own orgasm that pushes you over, his groans and relentlessness that follow, pushing himself passed the point of no return. You can see the beginning of what looks like tears in his eyes, and he has to force himself to stop, his hips jerking from the overstimulation.
He kisses you ruthlessly, letting his tongue claim your mouth in a manner more harsh than it is anything else. And when he pulls away and his eyes settle back on yours they're equally as harsh.
"No more shitty little boyfriends that can't handle you. I'll handle you. You want my cock, you ask nicely. Understand?"
"Yes," you let your lips peck his, surprising him, "what if I don't wanna be nice about it?"
He smirks, "try it and find out. Now get on your knees and suck my cock like the good girl I know you can be."

fanon neil vs canon neil
god i am so FUCKING done with the aftg fandom mischaracterising neil i'm literally writing fucking ESSAYS about it and pacing circles muttering about it under my breath it's driving me up the goddamn wall so i am going to word vomit brain dump yap about all of it in an incoherent tumblr text post. spoilers ahead continue at ur own risk
i've said it before and i'll say it again I HATE FANON NEIL. istg this fandom LOVES to mischaracterise neil and ykw i think i know why. they take the smallest most unnoticeable parts of his personality and then exaggerate them to disproportionate and unrealistic levels in order for him to fit their idea of a conventional, stereotypical and desirable main character. they smooth out his jagged edges and prick at his "insecurities" to make him more likeable, more acceptable and more conventional of a narrator/main character and in doing so erase so fucking much of his personality and draw as a character that he loses just about all of the flavour that made me love him in canon. and also especially within the andreil dynamic this fucking fandom just loves to tweak neil's character until he's basically unrecognisable just so they can cram andreil into some preconceived socially acceptable clichéd ship dynamic. because andrew is perceived as the typical mysterious, moody and grumpy love interest therefore neil just has to be the sunshiney smiley blushing cute softboy in exchange. yeah because all gay ships have to be grumpy-sunshine and black cat-golden retriever dynamic. i raise you: andreil's dynamic doesn't work because of their differences it works because of their similarities. if u think about it andrew and neil are honestly very similar people in the way they think and process emotions and events and that's what allows them to connect and understand each other. andreil would not work if neil was super sunshiney and a blushy soft mess and andrew was the stoic, never smiling, unemotional stone of a guy the fandom loves to make them. just accept they do not fit into the conventional boxes laid out by booktok for what gay ships look like. i fucking digress.
neil is also just insanely mischaracterised on his own. people love making him very jittery and insanely oblivious and easily flustered with a generous serving of self-esteem issues. i hate to break it to you guys: neil josten is not insecure. i don't think there's a single instant in the series where neil is actually insecure about anything. as a narrator, person and character, neil is very realistic, pragmatic and logical. ruthlessly so. i'd say on this, neil is even more cerebral and unemotional than andrew is. neil is very straightforward and realistic abt himself in his narration and i'd honestly say his opinion and views about himself are one of the only things in the story that isn't affected by his narrator bias. if neil is anything, it's self-aware. i'm now going to present all my fucking evidence.
neil doesn't have a sexuality crisis. literally in the entire series never once does he even question his fucking sexuality. it's implied he's already figured out he's aspec/demisexual from the moment nicky questions him about his sexuality. neil says "i don't swing" and follows up in his narration: it wasn't quite the truth, but it was close enough. and later when he starts his relationship with andrew he doesn't ever question the nature of his feelings towards andrew or even anyone else and is pretty clear about it when andrew breaches the topic: "kissing you doesn't make me look at them any differently" so yeah neil is pretty certain and aware of his sexuality.
neil isn't insecure about his appearance. i feel like this is gonna require a bit of work to explain but hear me out. it is mentioned several times that neil has a complicated relationship with his appearance because he looks so much like his father/abuser. this is obviously understandable; you wouldn't want to look into the mirror and see the man who gave u all ur scars. that being said, neil doesn't have a lot of strong emotions regarding his appearance. most of his feelings of panic tied to when r*ko dyed back his hair is because of how it would be a lot easier for his father to discover him now that he has his original colouring back. i'm also pretty sure neil knows that he's cute. like it's never explicitly stated but i've reread aftg maybe fifty times and trust me i can read between the lines. neil explicitly says that he has a "love-hate relationship with his reflection out of necessity" and while the "hate" part of that statement is obvious: he doesn't like that he resembles his father, i've sort of just accepted that the "love" part of it is that he knows he's kinda fine. it's not brought up by him at all bc neil as a person is not one to linger on people's appearances almost at all. i think the only people to get a decent amount of lines dedicated to their appearance in the narration are allison and andrew. but yeah i genuinely don't think neil thinks he's ugly or unattractive and he's probably definitely been told how cute he is by others enough that he doesn't harbour any delusions about how he looks. regarding his scars, he never expresses any insecurity towards them and how they look, he just doesn't like them on display understandably bc of how acutely they point to his past and childhood that he's trying to hide.
neil is actually very very confident in his own and other people's abilties. this is esp regarding exy. he knows he's good at the game. like he knows. the most distinct example i can think of for this point is when kevin tells neil that he was at castle evermore to try out for the perfect court when they were younger. neil doesn't even doubt for a fucking second that he would've made it onto the perfect court. never does. he skips over the second-guessing and doubt part and just straight up starts daydreaming about the future he could've had playing with kevin and r*ko. like that really got me bc it's easy to assume neil would be super unassuming and have low self-esteem but no like neil doesn't doubt for a fucking second that he deserves to be perfect court. it's just that he doesn't believe in r*ko's delusions enough to play along with it by the time he gets the tattoo. he's also insanely confident about the foxes and their abilities and also kevin by the end of the series. at the beginning he takes a pretty realistic vantage point and says that with the way things are, the foxes will never beat the ravens. but even with that pov he still has the gall to challenge r*ko on LIVE TV and i doubt he's lying when he declares so boldly to everyone that if the foxes were united they'd be an unstoppable force (and guess what he was fucking RIGHT). and by the end, when the foxes are united, he has no more room left for doubt at all. some guy tells neil to kick the ravens' asses and neil just replies with zero hesitation "that's the plan". like he's so fucking on board with it. and he never once doubts that kevin is the best striker in the game. like literally never. at first he considers r*ko and kevin on par with each other (possibly, it's never stated outright) but by the end he literally has no doubts when he says "kevin is the best striker" like goddamn the amount of confidence neil has is so underrated.
neil is a very unemotional narrator. it actually gets me all the time how logical and ruthlessly pragmatic neil's narration and inner monologue is. some of the only strong emotions portrayed in neil's narration are anger, irritation and occasionally grief, which is only ever triggered by major trauma-inducing events (e.g. dr*ke). almost all of his inner monologue is analytical and observing others and dissecting either other people or the situation he's in. and almost all of his decisions and actions are made based on impulse and instinct. neil is a very instinctive person. this is outright stated in the way he plays exy; in theory, he can't give u a lot, but in the heat of the moment he's at his best. this applies to practically all facets of neil's life. he never plans his moves or what he's gonna say (except like that one time when he planned out what half-truth he was gonna tell andrew post-columbia). he's super quick and on the ball and literally does whatever the fuck he wants at any given moment. he's also insanely good at compartmentalising. like it's difficult to explain but while his priorities are obv hilariously skewed, they're also very clear in his mind. things he considers unimportant he simply just doesn't think about. what others look like and what they think of him don't factor into his internal monologue or his thoughts at all he literally just files them away in the back of his mind until they do end up becoming useful or important to him. he barely comments on andrew's appearance at all until andrew becomes someone worth staring at and admiring for him. the only reason he describes allison and renee in the detail that he does is because it's important in understanding how and why he reacts to them the way he does. this man was literally about to lose his goddamn mind at the fall banquet but he specifically reserved his mental breakdown for after the banquet so he could spend his time roasting the fuck out of r*ko. bro fully locked in and was like "clock riko now break down later" and i respect it.
neil doesn't actually have a martyr complex. it's funny because almost all of aftg is him being the absolute fucking opposite of a martyr. he wilfully sticks around the foxes knowing he's putting himself and them in danger. he doesn't "sacrifice" himself until he's absolutely forced to by his father's people. by then, he's already told himself he can't and won't run and he's smart enough to know he'll never get away anyway. and going to evermore wasn't about self-sacrifice or martyrdom it was about protecting andrew and those two are pretty fucking different. he knew he was coming back from evermore and he knew that he wouldn't die there, despite all the shit he went through, so i don't think that can be counted as "self-sacrifice". he was doing what he had to do to protect andrew, the same as andrew would've done for neil or aaron or kevin or anyone else he'd sworn to protect. the kidnapping in baltimore was the culmination of neil's character arc, which isn't really about learning to be selfless and self-sacrificing, it's about learning to stand his ground and stop running. those things r crucially different: neil not running in baltimore wasn't about selflessness, it was about courage. yes, part of it was obviously inspired by the foxes and motivated by not wanting them to be hurt but i truly believe it ultimately was about neil learning to stand his own ground and make his own home and have it be something he's willing to die for. call it whatever u want honestly i just don't think neil is as much of a martyr/sacrificial lamb as the fandom makes him out to be.

My Way 1
Warnings: non/dubcon, abuse, violence, meanness, degradation, and other dark elements. My username actually says you never asked for any of this.
My warnings are not exhaustive but be aware this is a dark fic and may include potentially triggering topics. Please use your common sense when consuming content. I am not responsible for your decisions.
Character: Brock Rumlow
Summary: your marriage is safe, not happy.
As usual, I would appreciate any and all feedback. I’m happy to once more go on this adventure with all of you! Thank you in advance for your comments and for reblogging ❤️
You grit your teeth as your skin sticks to the leather. You push your head back and whine through your teeth as a swat comes to quiet you. You seal your lips to hold back.
Brock fists your hair and yanks your head back. Your neck strains and your shoulders ache, the cuffs tugging on your wrists. He thrusts against your ass, each time slapping without relent.
"You fucking take it," he snarls as your spine aches. Your stomach presses heavy against the bench, arms extended as your kept trapped by his furry and the restraints. Your legs are bent, ankles hooked in the metal hoops.
You hiss and hum, head hanging from his grasp as his force ripples through you. He bends further to scoop his other hand around your neck. He grips your head as he ruts harder and harder.
"Fucking slut. You really think he wants a whore like you?" He jerks your head meanly, your neck cranking too far back. "He fucking didn't, did he?"
You moan.
"Say it. Not fucking good enough."
"No, sir. I'm not--"
"And who do you belong to?" He snarls.
"You, sir."
Fuckinf right, cause why?"
You suck in a sharp breath, "no one else... wants me."
"No one," he rams into you harder. "Fucking no one. Especially not that shield-clutching fuck," he grunts and his hips tilt erratically.
He slams into you over and over, filling you as it drips out around him, smearing your ass and the end of the bench. When he's done, he slides out and lets the mess fall onto the floor. You quiver and slacken against the leather-lined horse.
"Mmm," he hums as he moves past you, ass flexing as he struts into the bathroom.
You stay as you are. You have no choice. Your wrists are cuffed, ankles hooked. You can only languish in the aftermath.
He takes his time. The faucet runs, then the shower. You zone out as you wait. The numbness sets in as the tingles fade.
He comes out with a yawn. He slaps your ass as he passes. He opens the dresser and pulls out a pair of briefs he steps into them and meanders towards you. He bends to undo the cuff and leaves you again.
You free yourself with your one free hand. You lift yourself from the leather, your back panging with your movement. You put away the cuffs and attachments. You wipe clean the leather, tidying up the clothes strewn around the floor.
You finish up and pull on the loose night shirt he nearly tore off. You go out and pour him a scotch. He's smoking on the balcony. You bring it out and the night air chills you.
No thank you. You don't expect one. He grabs the glass and drains it. He hisses and hands it back. You turn and he snaps his fingers.
"Here," he points in front of him then flicks his cigarette over the railing.
You put the glass on the table and go to him. He puts you in front of him. He kicks your feet apart and you grip the railing.
He bends you just enough. He rolls his briefs down under his dick, stroking himself. He prods along your cunt and slips inside. Not easily. It's never easy.
He has no patience. He thrusts you onto your toes.
You lean on the railing for support. He pumps into you, hands on your shoulders, hips pulsing. You whine and he digs his nails into you.
You quiet and let him use you. Like every night. Every morning. Any time.
Again, he leaves you leaking. Alone. You clean that up as he goes to watch TV.
He ignores you as you lock the balcony door. You leave him, knowing better than to speak at that moment. You take your chance to recover in the shower, that rare time there's no expectation.
When you're done, you put on a fresh linen sleep shirt and settle into bed. The blare of the TV keeps you awake. You're used to it. Even when it's quiet you don't sleep very well.
He comes to bed after midnight. He fucks you again and rolls over. You smell like him.
You stay until the clock strikes four. You get up to make his breakfast and coffee. He's up at five. He eats ravenously and has you refill his cup twice.
"Fucking jerkoff," he grumbles. "I can already hear him. Always got a fucking plan."
You nod and listen patiently. You know who he's talking about but you never say the name. He huffs and snarls.
He looks at you and his disgust deepens. You pout and shake your head. What did you do?
"You still want to fuck Captain Fuckhead?" He sneers.
You blanch, "no, sir."
"Like he'd fuck you anyway," he slams down his empty mug. You get up instinctively and reach for it and he grabs your hand. "Like I'd fucking let him."
You gulp.
"Understand? You are mine."
"I know, sir."
"He married that bimbo anyway," he lets go. "No more. Get my fucking clothes."
You recoil and take his mug to the sink. You retreat into the bedroom and pick out his usual. Always black.
It is always black around here. Grim. Oppressive. You forgot what it's like not to be afraid that you barely notice.
He goes into the bathroom. You lay out his clothes on the bed. You step back and stare at nothing in particular. You try to remember how you got so deep in. Try to figure out why you ever said I do.
Well, what would he have done if you hadn't?

How to Handle Critique
I’ve got to admit, I wish I was one of those beatific saints that could take critique with a grateful smile. Instead, I am constantly suppressing a horrible little gremlin at the back of my head hissing at anything from legit plot critiques to grammar corrections. I’m well aware I used that comma wrong, GOD.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m very good at suppressing that gremlin, but the little bastard is still there. He exists because even though your brain knows critique can help, it also knows you worked damn hard on the thing being critiqued, and goddamnit, isn’t that enough???
Anyway, here are some tips on getting that gremlin to shut the hell up.
It is okay to be upset. You worked really hard on this thing, and now someone’s gone and pointed out all the things that suck about it. You cannot control how you feel about one thing or another, but you can allow yourself to feel that way and let it pass through you. Let your critique partner you’re taking time to reflect on it, and go for a walk. Do something else. Let those feelings pass through you before you get back to the page.
Give yourself time. Don’t feel like you need to correct things right away (unless they are minimal grammar tweaks). Some pieces of feedback might take awhile to sink in, especially when you’ve got a whole novel to wrestle through. Set it aside, think about something else for a week or so, and get back to it when you’ve reset.
Get a second opinion and/or ducky friend. It can be very hard to tell the difference between good and bad feedback sometimes. Someone who means very well could give feedback that just doesn’t work for you, and someone who doesn’t give two shits could have spotted that fatal flaw right away. You can bring in a real third party or just make use of the old rubber duck technique, where you talk through the issue with a friend or a Naruto poster telling you to Believe it. Working it out out-loud is a really effective technique to figure out what needs fixing and what doesn’t.
Guide critique-givers toward the feedback you want. I, a person who prefers straightforward fantasy and sci-fi, cannot give the fine-tooth points on how a romance novel should work. However, I can give feedback on what works for me and what doesn’t story-wise. Giving your beta reader or critique partner a list of questions to look for will help avoid vague feedback based on how they don’t like the genre. There are many ways to do this, but consider using the following as a base to tailor your own questions:
Did you get a good sense of the setting? Did the worldbuilding make sense to you?
Was this story clear? Where there any parts that seemed confusing?
What characters did you like and why? What characters didn’t you like?
Did any parts of the story feel slow or repetitive?
Did the beginning draw you in? Did the middle keep you engaged? Did the ending feel satisfying?
If you were to write [insert plot point here], what would you do differently?
Again, all of the above questions are up for debate depending on your goal, but we are rarely taught how to give good feedback, and a guided feedback session would work better for you than a free-for-all.
Figure out what kind of advice doesn’t work for you. It is really hard to give good feedback sometimes, even with guided questions. It can also be really hard to figure out why some feedback doesn’t click with you, and that’s a matter of digging deep to figure out what you really want. You may lean toward characters who are horrible fuck-ups, but your partner prefers more steady characters who always strive to do the right thing. Your characters, therefore, may never click with this person, no matter how much they want to help you. And that’s okay! Figuring out where your critique partner is coming from can help you figure out what parts of their feedback isn’t working for you. Sometimes the only thing you can do is thank them and move on, but you might also want to guide them to focus more on the plot or the worldbuilding when looking at your work.
And last, don’t focus on grammar. It’s great if they point that out, but if you end up changing everything, trying to fix that first is a waste of your time. Grammar tweaks last, plot points first.
And, I dunno, give yourself a treat to get that horrible little mind gremlin something else to focus on. Sometimes patting those bad feelings on the head and sending them away can help way more than ignoring them.
#writing feedback#writing advice#telling yourself this feels bad and I don't like it is okay!#even if you asked for that advice it can still hurt!#just let it pass and you'll be okay

Hello sorry I am being shy and anon but do you have any advice for someone who wants to get into Doctor Who again after briefly dabbling (and enjoying it very much) in like the early, early 2010s? I know this is mostly your art blog but you were the only person I could think of to ask you're like the Doctor Who authority of blogs I follow
Oh yeah of course! People can be really confusing about this so I'll try not to be.
So first, the majority of doctor who episodes are self contained stories that you could just watch and understand perfectly without any further context. even when there is some overarching context it's usually written in a way that's either pretty easy to glean and/or just doesn't impact your understanding of the story. 99% of the episodes don't even care if you know the premise and are just like "what if some people were on a spaceship and the devil was there? wouldn't that be fucked up or what??". Don't feel like you have to binge a 60 years long show to watch it. Some standalone episodes I think are fun if you (or anyone else) just want to check out one or two:
The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances (A supposed-to-be-dead boy in a gas mask haunts a young woman in world war 2)
Blink (A woman gets wrapped up in a mystery involving statues that make people disappear. This one is especially good if you flat out know nothing about the show. Has some really great time travel stuff.)
A Christmas Carol (A christmas carol pastiche (of course) where the doctor tries to rewrite the past of a cruel man who's going to let a lot of people die. very sad and sweet. I love the "wintery planet with sky fish" setting of this one)
Vincent and the Doctor (The famous Vincent Van Gogh Episode™)
The Rings of Akhatan (A pretty lowkey little adventure story about an alien festival. has supreme autumn vibes)
Flatline (A species from a 2 dimensional world tries to break into our 3 dimensional one. really fun special effects)
Midnight (A tour bus breaks down on a diamond planet where nothing can survive. Something knocks at the door.)
Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead (The Doctor and friend go to a library that covers an entire planet and finds that everyone has disappeared. Has a lot of really great, interesting concepts baked into it that I won't spoil)
It Takes You Away (A girl is left alone in a cabin in the woods when her dad disappears through the mirror. Has a famously goofy ending that I really love)
73 Yards (A character is steps on a fairy circle and is followed by an old woman who always stands exactly 73 yards away)
The Devil's Chord (This doesn't really have, you know, a plot, but it does have jinkx monsoon as an evil music god)
Boom (The doctor steps on a landmine on an alien planet and cannot move)
Wild Blue Yonder (A two hander where the Doctor and co are trapped on a dilapidated spaceship at the edge of the universe. really atmospheric with some fun/strange visuals.)
That being said, it does add a lot to watch it in order; there's a lot of plot twists, character dynamics, and general payoff you get if you marathon it. I would personally recommend starting with either the first episode of the 2005 show ("Rose") or the first episode of the 2010 season ("The Eleventh Hour") and just watching in order from there. I think you could also start with "The Snowmen", "The Pilot", or "The Woman Who Fell To Earth" if you wanted, but the first two (especially rose) are the better jumping on points.
some other little notes of advice I don't often see people mention:
it's stupid sometimes just roll with it
once in a while the show sort of "reboots" with different writers, actors, directors, and a new tone. it's much more like watching several small shows than one long show, so don't be too put off by the length!
IMPORTANT: pretty much all streaming services will separate holiday/anniversary specials from the show proper and you have to deliberately search them up on the same service to find them. It's really necessary to be aware of this because many of these specials are the first or last episodes for characters/whole eras of the show and are genuinely unskippable. I strongly recommend looking up a list of the episodes and checking it after finales just to make sure you don't skip anything on accident.
there's two spin offs (Torchwood, a more adult (read: gay sex) show about a mysterious agency that solves sci fi crimes, and the Sarah Jane Adventures, a pretty good monster of the week kids show) that ran concurrently with season 1-4. You don't have to watch them to understand anything happening in doctor who, but sometimes they cross over with the show in fun ways, Ex. the first season finale of Torchwood continues directly into season 3 of Doctor Who. My friend and I got a kick out of watching them at the same time so maybe you will too. (either way I recommend watching "Children of Earth", the torchwood miniseries, if you want to see a weird dark sci fi show about the government making contact with aliens. It's a bit like arrival (2016) if it was way nastier.)
alternatively, you can inject fast acting brain poison into yourself with this
anyways I hope this all reads as, you know, more approachable than the way dudes on quora recommend this show:
#I'm assuming you're asking about nuwho. if you're also asking about classic go watch the mccoy episodes most people get a kick out of those#storm warning isn't Great tm but 8th dr who seems to do something to the human psyche#also i've noticed skip lists like that quora looooove to recommend skipping the god complex which is insane to me. one of the best episodes#talking tag

I deeply apologize for both this post and how long it’s taken me to make it, and I’m sorry if somebody else has already gotten around to making one, but I’m finally able to make a post about this situation.
It has been brought to my attention that somebody who interacted with me and my friend group on here is a grown adult (29) dating a minor (15).
The following is a conversation between Cosmic and Kageno’s admin as well as a screenshot from her blog.
It is appalling how unserious she is during the conversation, and how she tries to make excuses like the child being a system. I won’t speak too much on the system part, as I don’t have much knowledge there, but at the end of the day the body is 15. The body is a child. There is no excuse or reason why an almost 30 year old should have any romantic or sexual attraction to a minor.
Cosmic was in the original Tumblr Rp Blogs server with the rest of us and a good number of us got a weird feeling from her even though she was “nice”. Please speak up when people make you uncomfortable even if there is no visible reason to it.
I am going to make one thing clear. I will under no circumstances imaginable allow these types of people on this blog or any of my other ones. If you excuse pedophilic behavior, defend it in any way shape or form, or God forbid call it some sort of sexual orientation you can fuck all the way off of my accounts. The fact that I have to make this post is disgusting especially considering in the server there was more than one minor present and interacting with Cosmic. This is not acceptable at all. What she is doing is illegal and immoral.
As far as I’m aware, Cosmic’s discord is dabi_and_sunshine and her Tumblr is mikeys_mistress. If you know of other accounts, let me know and they will be added to this post.
I wasn’t able to go through and get every screenshot from the original server, so anybody who does have them is free to reblog this post with said screenshots.
@kagenoakirp @marbled-magician @dusty-handyman @must4rdmha @mythicaldreamer
Edit: this little gem I found. People are likely calling you a pedophile because you’re a pedophile, not because of a fictional character. Own up to how putrid your behavior is.

there are so many things in veilguard that have made me go "wait what??? okay i guess i have to totally rethink the character i'm roleplaying now" that it's literally impossible to guess what thing you're referring to as The Thing That Happened. obviously extremely curious to hear what it is once you've detangled it
it’s kind of like that but it’s also less that and more... okay i should probably just say it, i’m being weird and unhelpful and i need to write it out anyway so i can think
MASSIVE SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT for a companion quest, do NOT say i didn’t warn you. also please don’t respond to this if you know more than me i am in distress but i still don’t want spoilers
so i just finished lucanis’ “a murder of crows” quest. and lucanis. first talon. for some reason. (this is the writing choice i’m ??? on. also i’m ??? on lucanis’ whole storyline, frankly. the writing was. well. like i said, we’re not unpicking that right now, i don’t want to get into it at this point, not the conversation i’m having.)
lifelong trauma of being in the crows and fighting to get someone in a talon’s position and keep them there -> the thing that gave sol all their diseases and made them, to be frank, fairly suicidal
viago: ultimately can handle it without them, especially with teia’s backing.
lucanis: CANNOT handle it without them. holy fuck. for like twelve hundred different reasons, unthinkable, completely laughable, that he can handle this. who is going to protect him. the only reason this could be better at keeping sol mentally stable than watching viago’s back is that they will never feel purposeless or need to go looking for an adrenaline rush, because forget crows, an ambitious blackbird could eat that man alive. he can’t scheme. he can’t even SCHEME and the very fact that he trusts sol DE RIVA demonstrates this. sol is a crow! from another house! does he have no memory at all of the fact that his own parents died in crow infighting? sol could have been playing him this whole time, it wouldn’t have even been hard, and if they were that kind of person, then right now the first talon’s house would have just fallen directly in their hands like a gift from the maker, and they can’t even say a part of themself they can’t shut off isn’t thinking about it that way! how is sol supposed to keep someone like that alive?
you see what it’s like trying to sleep while sol is having this discussion in my mind.
ahem. anyway. pathways for sol’s life assuming they indeed make it through the game:
becoming lucanis’ guard dog the way they were for viago, which (even if they could mentally handle that, which they can’t. or can they??) means switching house loyalties which would surely destroy them eventually -> bad
somehow trying to persuade lucanis to give this up, as if that wouldn’t be throwing house dellamorte completely to the dogs, which at least sol can’t imagine any crow is capable of, let alone someone so dedicated to clinging to what remains of his family that he couldn’t even kill a traitor -> bad
going ahead and leaving the crows, but sol now has to leave BOTH viago and lucanis behind and also lucanis is going to die in there because they left him to do this alone -> bad
solution: sol is back on their original “if a blighted dragon eats me by the end of this, i don’t have to experience consequences” train
and maybe they’re right and i should not worry about this because i’m painfully aware it’s VERY bold to start deciding what happens after the game at this point, when they might still get trapped in the fade or turned into paste or something. and admittedly they did know and dread the possibilities from the first moment they felt something for lucanis, which was why they so wanted it to be anyone else, because anyone else in that lighthouse could have given them a different world, and he is the one who regardless of his best or worst intentions can only tie them tighter to a burning building. and SURE, i see the solas/mythal breakup parallels of sol still leaving, i’m looking at them, that doesn’t mean i have to LIKE them
he hasn’t even kissed them. they’re doing all of this unkissed. lucanis dellamorte when i get you
again please absolutely do not respond to any of this with even the vaguest of hints if you know more about the rest of the game than me 🙏 it’s probably best if no-one responds to this at all lmao i am just thinking out loud. you can reply with a “that’s rough buddy”. for sol

Genshin as Boyfriend HCs: Part One (Kaeya, Xiao, Thoma)
Fuck it. I think if I work on my original project any longer I’m going to scream bloody murder. I am realizing that a post apocalyptic (taking the world population down to a couple million level apocalypse) story that doesn’t take place in the chaos/murder/destruction/warlords/shit just hit the fan time period is incredibly difficult. Especially since I’m generally anti-shortcut. How do I solve being overwhelmed? Fluffy Head canons. Because the Genshin guys live rent fee in my brainpan. Let’s see... Kaeya, Xiao, and Thoma. Please be kind on Xiao and Thoma. I don’t know Xiao very well and have only written for each of them once
GN reader
Fluff under the cut
Kaeya
I know we head canon Kaeya as a huge tease--which he is, ain’t gonna lie--but I think he’d be crazy sweet
High up on the level of most observant boyfriends ever. Wait... That’s most every one on my “Genshin character’s I will write for” list hehe
But no, seriously, he pays attention and even though he’s a tease, he’d definitely know where to draw the line
Also as charming as he is, I bet it backfires sometimes
I bet he picked you up for a date early on in your relationship and cuz he’s charming as fuck, he gave you roses
One problem, I don’t think he’s the most experienced with relationships. It’s the whole secrets thing, ya know.
SO I can see him being super excited, but hiding it really, really well
Until he gave you those roses I mentioned. Roses made using his vision. Roses that melted in your hands because he was so excited and wanted to impress you so much he didn’t think it all the way through
Any passerby died laughing. You just give him a look like “really, Kaeya? Really?”
Though there’s a chance you both start laughing, because Kaeya just isn’t the kind to take that hard. He’s embarrassed, but he laughs.
You like to bring this up every now and then just to get a reaction out of him (It’s fucking hilarious)
After that he’s a bit more successful
Still extremely sweet and supportive despite his charm
PDA is definitely a thing, unless you’re super uncomfortable with it--which he will pick up
In private, he’s always touching you. Tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, brushing shoulders, he just likes the physical contact
Xiao
Xiao and dating
That’s a hard one. I mean, he makes me seem like a successful extrovert which I am not
I think you two would be a very private couple, in large part because he is a very introverted private person
But you respect this and don’t push him too hard
Dates often consist of hanging out on a rooftop or somewhere else quiet
I think the two of you do a lot of hand holding or linking pinkies, things that are subtle, but soft and meaningful all the same.
The fact that he’s willing to do so, and eventually seeks it out makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside
Speaking of dates
He definitely went to Zhongli for advice and followed that advice to the T
You two had a very traditional Liyue style date. Which you enjoyed. You appreciated that he put in so much effort and went so far despite his introversion and discomfort around people---it really makes you want to go the extra mile too On a side note, someone please update Zhongli on dating practices. I know he’s aware of what goes on in Liyue, but I can’t see him being totally up to date.
After that you do a lot of the planning, making sure to take both of your preferences into account, which he appreciates
Despite his introversion and strong boundaries, which take time to get through, he’s always there for you and ever so slowly he starts to let you be there for him
Thoma
This guy is what you call on top of it
Of the three I think he’s the only one who really hits his stride from the get go
He managed to take you on a date even you didn’t think you would want
Flowers, dinner, nice sunsets, it’s no wonder he’s so well regarded by Ayato and Ayaka
On a day to day basis, the guy is busy, but he still makes time for you whenever he can
He’s definitely the kind to randomly sweep, mop, and just take care of extra chores around the house while you’re off on some sort of adventure, not just because he wants to support you but because he really enjoys cleaning. And it’s not like you’re going to complain
On his days off you’re definitely his first choice for company
Definitely take you to see the cats outside of Inazuma City
It’s a very domestic relationship
There’s not a ton of PDA, because he is a figure so strongly associated with the Kamisato Clan, but he really does like to hold hands, ruffle your hair, little stuff like that
At home, after a day of cleaning and serving Ayato and Ayaka, he’s happy to sit and cuddle with you, talking or not talking
And if you fall asleep on him, he’ll definitely let you stay there for a bit, watching the play of dreams on your face he’s smitten before picking you up and tucking you in bed.
He actually likes it when this happens because it means you trust him enough to completely let your guard down
Actually, he’s done the same to you a few times. After a long day he’ll fall asleep on you, though carrying to bed is more like dragging a rock because he’s tall
After the first time you decided that you’d either wake him up and move him of just leave him and fall asleep too
It’s just all so domestic

The Gaang being 'bad parents' didn't ruin their characters.
I've seen this argument tossed around a couple times and it's honestly one of my least favourite criticisms of lok.
Katara (and Sokka but we have no confirmed kids for him, which seems unrealistic with how much game he had) lost their mother as children and their father was forced to abandon them when they were barely starting their teens. They were raised by their grandmother with little to no peers of their own age.
Aang did not know his parents and a huge chunk of his childhood was him being groomed into taking up the mantle of the avatar and mastering airbending. He also was isolated from other kids his age. His closest parental figure was Gyatso who was more of a teacher than a father. Also the Air Nomads were literally wiped out so that adds to the trauma pile.
I really don't think i have to talk about Zuko's family life here, but at least he had relatively positive parental figures in the form of Ursa (though i do have a burning personal dislike of ursa) and Iroh. Despite this his struggle around the subject of his family and his trauma relating to his upbringing was a focal point of his character arc.
Toph was raised in isolation by her asshole abelist parents who did not listen to her, sent people to capture and bring her back and then disowned her. (If my cursory understanding of 'the rift' is correct, I need to actually read it because i am unreasonably obsessed with the Beifong family.)
Where, pray tell, were they supposed to learn proper parenting skills? On their brief stint as child soldiers? While fighting a war as literal children?
There is the argument that they must've matured later in their lives, of course. But you can only recover so much from copious amounts of childhood trauma.
Being a bad parent doesn't necessarily make you a bad person. Sure it makes you a failure in an incredibly delicate and important aspect of human life but it doesn't make you a bad person. And saying that it does takes a lot of nuance out of the conversation.
Like, do you know how easy it is to fuck up a child?
Especially that the ways the members of the Gaang 'fucked up' as parents feel mostly in character.
Bumi was going to face some struggles with self worth due to being the firstborn child of the Avatar and arguably one of the most powerful waterbenders in history, while being a nonbender himself. That much was unavoidable, no matter how his parents approached the issue.
And Aang was obviously going to be over the moon when Tenzin was born. Think about it. He's literally the last of his people. He has no one else 'like him'. No one else to pass down the traditions, the teachings that Gyatso and everyone else he cared about and who were horrifically murdered to. Aang is getting older and he feels like his culture and history and his entire life before he got trapped in that damned iceberg will die along with him. And then Tenzin is born and Tenzin can take up the mantle that had been thrust upon Aang.
I'm going to withhold my judgement on Izumi and Zuko, since we barely know anything about them. She seems well adjusted but that's all i can say right now. But Zuko has also been shown to be extremely, painfully aware of how fucked up his family is and has clearly been putting in a lot of work to unscrew what his ancestors have screwed up.
Toph situation feels very tragic to me,because it's obvious that she thought she thought she was doing better than her parents. She gave her daughters the freedom to do what they want, to not feel opressed and trapped like she had. How was she supposed to know that she was making her girls feel like she didn't love them? (Here's another post of mine about the Beifong family and how they just feel like they're cursed or something at this point.)
TLDR; I get annoyed by people saying that the Gaang being 'bad parents' ruined their characters, because to me it felt like it actually enhanced them.
Neither Aang nor Toph acted out of malice or a lack of love. On the contrary, Toph was trying not to repeat her parents mistakes, accidentally committing a bunch of her own. While Aang probably didn't even realise that he was neglecting Kya and Bumi.
But just loving your children doesn't always make you a good parent.
I think these flaws only add to them as characters. It makes them feel more real.
It's unrealistic and, frankly, just plain boring to go 'oh the Gaang were all good people so they would be good parents too.'
The Gaang were a gaggle of traumatised children forced into saving the world, because the adults around them failed them, that then grew into traumatised adults who have no idea how to be good parents.

Something about the Astarion romance
There is one thing about the Astarion romance, that I kinda feel like should be talked about a bit more.
Now, I am very much a lover of the Astarion romance. I just wanna hug that horriblem man. He definitely needs all the hugs you can give him. But...
We are all aware that the relationship - at least for now - is not a healthy one, right?
Like, no matter whether you let him ascend or not, the relationship is one of emotional dependency. Astarion is going to be emotionally dependent on the player character, no matter whether it is Tav, Durge or one of the other Origins.
Which is completely natural, mind you. Of course someone with his trauma will just latch onto the one person who makes him feel good emotionally and not let go. Duh. For someone that traumatized that is completely natural behavior.
It is this fact that drives him so much, when it comes to the Ascension Ritual. If you have played the game not romancing him, you might have noticed, that at least dialogue wise he is much easier convinced that maybe the ritual is a bad idea. Like, sure, the persuasion checks are still the same, but in the dialogue choices, when he goes: "Oh, all the power I could have." And you go: "I don't think that's a good idea." When you are a friend he is just going to go: "Hmm, I don't know. Maybe you are right." But if you are romancing him? Then he is going to be all: "I am doing it for us, my sweet!"
And I think the main reason behind this is, that this is the first time in a long while that he allows himself to really care about someone else and he is so fucking afraid that he is going to loose you. Thinking that Ascension would allow him to protect you. (Which of course does go south fairly quickly, if you let him ascend, because in that case he mistakes control for protection.)
But even if he does not ascend, he is still very emotionally dependent. And post-game it is going to take work for him to overcome this dependency. Because while his dependency as a vampire spawn is much less toxic compared to Ascended Astarion, it is not good. Especially not for him.
I see a lot of "How sad is it, that if you have a short-lived Tav (like a human, halfling or orc) Astarion will see him die rather soon, even if he gets healed?"
And I am like... Alright, here is my death positivity coming through. Sure, it is sad, but... if Astarion is not completely dependent on Tav/Durge/whoever... It is going to be alright. It is not going to be soul crushing. Like, even a short life well lived is worth more celebrating than mourning, right?
Just, you know... something to think about. Something to consider.

Extended Author's Notes for Left Behind Ch10.
Spoilers!
Chapter title is from "Bite Marks" from the League of Legends 2025 Cinematic.
Cait's POV for this chapter was originally part of the last chapter. It ended up being long enough that I felt like splitting it, which also let Chapter 9 be entirely H/C.
I'm quite fond of the grotesque image of two lovers decaying together. I also was thinking about that one lesbian grave sculpture and of the bodies at Pompeii.
Vi hears them coming before Cait does because she's spent the past five years listening for people coming down these hallways. :(
Ugh, the gut punch of not letting Cait protect Vi now. Of forcing her to let Vi go, even briefly, after just finally getting her back. And Vi, who desperately wants to feel safe, also having to give that up to give them a chance to escape.
I don't really know how to word this, but there's something about Vi grabbing Cait's wrist to stop her from taking her gun to open the door. She's not afraid that Cait will hurt her. She knows that Cait can be brash when she's emotional. She's protecting Cait even in this state.
And then Caitlyn's willingness to stop and try to understand? I actually love how much of this fic has ended up focusing on nonverbal communication, because I really think these characters are so good at reading each other and still would be even after years of separation.
I like shaking up the red-blue/reactive-calm dynamic between these two. Yes, Vi can be quick to anger and liable to lash out. But. I do really like Vi being a sort of moderating influence on Cait, because I think Cait is also prone to outbursts when she's pissed (esp. in this fic). I just really like them being good for each other.
The smugglers! Tomorrow! Conveniently contrived coincidences? In MY fanfic? It's more likely than you think.
STOP TOUCHING EACH OTHER, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, I'M LOSING MY MIND.
And as soon as Caitlyn makes the start of a plan (because Vi knows that she didn't put the gun down in surrender), Vi's all in. Locking down her own fear, steeling herself for what's coming, willing to face whatever's about to happen because she trusts Caitlyn to get them out. I'm love them. So. much.
I am very fond of the imagery of Caitlyn pulling on Cassandra's "imperious persona like an old and familiar cloak." Her mom taught her so much, y'all. I won't hear a word against her, she is so much of who Caitlyn is.
I don't know how sucessful I was at keeping the Baroness's knowledge ambiguous, especially with the switching POVs. Vi never directly thought about it, but she's definitely experienced things that would indicate that Renata is fully aware of Vi being alive (ie. the scene in Ch2 where Renata talks to her after her guests have left; why taunt someone you don't think is there?). But Caitlyn hasn't been sure one way or the other until this chapter (and part of that is that she's just been too overwhelmed to actually stop and think about it).
It's going to be a bit before Caitlyn finally works up the courage to ask Vi about the Baroness letting other people "use" her. Which means she's mentally tormenting herself about it the whole time. :(
So obviously not all of Vi's detached expressions have been an act; she really has been 'out of it' a lot. But she absolutely does use it to hide her awareness from her captors.
The Baroness sending Vi to Caitlyn's room was a major mistake on her part. Caitlyn implying that she actually did anything with Vi, though? She just fucked up. Renata is pretty confident that Caitlyn wouldn't do that, especially not this soon; the reason she sent Vi in the first place was to get in Cait's head. So Caitlyn acting like it didn't shake her to her core leads the Baroness to suspect that something else might be going on. However - and this is really important - she still doesn't think that Vi can break out of her mental prison, so she's not as suspicious as she should be. She's still too over-confident.
Hooray! Caitlyn has eaten one (1) bite of bread! (Though I do think the bite of croissant has worn off by now.)
I want you guys to know how much I am struggling with Vi here. I need her to be basically incapacitated (otherwise she and Cait would have a slight advantage), but I don't want her to be useless. She just went through Maintenance twice in a short period, so she's in a lot of pain and she's losing time. But she has to be aware enough to keep track of what's going on. Why did I do this to myself?
Basically, Vi's entire POV in this chapter is to help explain how she regains enough strength and clarity to get her through the escape.
God, they are both so worried about each other. Vi imagining what might happen to Caitlyn if Vi dies? Of course. Of course that's what she's scared of. Of course her deepest fear is of Caitlyn suffering the same way she has.
Vi still hasn't quite remembered her own name. Soon though. ;)
I briefly toyed with the idea of having the handler hose Vi down, but I didn't like the... implications, I guess? I don't know, it's just kinda the same reason Vi still has her undergarments on during Maintenance. I didn't want her to have to be that vulnerable (in that way) in front of people she doesn't trust? Now that I think about it, I really want the Baroness to feel like the cruelest and most dangerous threat. I want the violation (both mental and physical) to clearly NOT be sexual.
One of you pointed it out in your comment: Yes! Vi is remembering the showers at Stillwater! I didn't want all of her memories to be either "good" or "Purge".
There are obvious differences between the nutrient IV and Maintenance: one vs three doctors, sitting vs lying down, unrestrained vs strapped to the table, catheter port on her chest vs directly into multiple veins, almost daily vs once a month or so. Vi's just freaking out right now. It's the same reason she misunderstands the comments about the nutrient feed ("increased dosage" and "soon") as being about Maintenance.
Speaking of. Vi's had a catheter port on her chest this whole time (apparently pretty common for someone who's getting all their nutrients intravenously). There's no reason not to administer the controlling/impairing drug the same way, except to cause more mental and physical torture. The Baroness knows exactly what she's been doing this whole time.
Uh-oh, what was that about Vi's left thigh hurting more than the rest of her body? I'm sure that's nothing. I'm sure it'll be fine. :)
Next week's chapter is all Cait's POV (and the one after that is all Vi's). Teaser:
The Baroness had given her an exact address; this is not a test of her skill in tracking someone down. This entirely about her willingness to follow orders, to kill on command without question. Vaguely, she wonders if the Baroness is aware that whatever loyalty Caitlyn proves here is to Vi, and Vi only.
She scoffs at herself. Of course the Baroness knows that the only control she has over Caitlyn is her hold on Vi. But if they don't make it out tomorrow, it won't matter.

Tldr; please put warnings on smut and have it below the cut and stop sexualizing minors in media. Especially if they just came out of middle school thats weird. Write what you want but tag and put warnings when needed.
--
I get so pissed when im going to read something about my favorite character, and it's smut WITH ZERO WARNING.
No 18+, no NSFW, no MDNI and it isnt even in the fucking tags. I dont wanna read that shit. Put the damned warnings there for the love of all that is green on this earth it takes two seconds. maybe a bit more, but if you could pump out 3.4k words of pure porn, I think you can handle a couple of tags and warnings
I am a minor, and i use those warnings, so I dont read straight-up porn!! I also dont need to read about incest accidentally because there was NO warning, and it was NOT in the tags!!
(And for those of you who do put warnings, i thank you and wish the best in life!)
(I am also well aware that a lot of people dont listen to dnis like that, but it's helpful for the people trying to avoid reading stuff like that)
Also, while im on the subject, let's not sexualize minors in media. Yeah their hot, i can see that. But i dont want to see the start of an NSFW alphabet for a 15/16 year old. Aged up my ass. Just put the beginning below the cut?? And not after the first four letters??
I do NOT need to know a fav characters preferred body part is the tits thank you very much. I definitely do not need to accidentally read that they wanna suck on it like a damned bottle.
--
'This character as your friend is soo perverted he wants to steal ur panties hehehe' NO HE DOESNT. HE'S A TEENAGER AND LIKES CATS. TF?? theres adults in the majority of the show that are reasonably attractive. Write that shit about them.
'Oh, they have this list of kinks,' and its shit only someone who has read hardcore smut would have. They are 16 and most probably haven't had sex because the creator cant give them a fucking break from trauma.
'He would be soooo toxic and blahblahblah [insert romanticised assault and abuse and trauma]' NO. that boy is my age and is a nerd. Motherfucker wants to study at princeton and has absolutely no flirting ability. You're only saying that because he's black, most of that shit reeks of racism.
--
These characters are kids, CHILDREN, and you as an adult (if you are one) should not be writing smut about them, aged up or not. You should not be thirsting over a sophmore when theres PLENTY of good looking adults that you can be.
Theres a difference in growing up liking a character and having a crush on them and growing out of it when you're an adult. And being an adult thirsting over a teenage boy. It's not cute. it's not 'oh, it's fine because he/she's not real'.
Its really fucking gross actually.
--
At the end of the day just tag your stuff correctly. That way its easier for everyone else to find EXACTLY what they wanna read. Because at this point im just gonna start reporting fics with no warnings at the beginning.
Someome younger than me with no parents looking through their devices could stumble on that, and not know what it means, read it, and be scarred for life.
I was reading that stuff way way way too earlier and its fucked up my mental state a bit so if we collectively start putting in the effort to help prevent this from happening to another 11 year old or younger than we should do so.
--
Start gatekeeping fandoms like creepypasta from young kids, start tagging shit correctly
Another child does not need to end up somewhat hypersexul with very violent intrusive thoughts by the time they hit high school because their parents wouldn't look out for them, and the fandom did NOTHING to try to prevent it.
Its not your job to parent the kid, and to look over their should. Thats not what im saying.
It IS your job to, again, tag shit correctly, put warnings for gore, bluring violent images, saying outright that a certain game/book/story/etc your recommending is NOT for kids due to its violent nature/sexual content/etc. Reporting accounts of children under the age limit for social media (i.e., a 10 year old with discord or instagram) (it is breaking the T.O.S)
Act like that one lgbtq+ chat room website I was on for a couple weeks where all the adults kinda looked out for me a bit. And supported me figuring out who I was and collectively riped a guy to shreds after I blasted him at a failed attempt to groom me. (And told me I had done exactly the right thing in this situation. Also, hi, if you know who I am from there!!!) (Story time if ya'll want I look back and think its the funniest thing ever how I dealt with him 💀)
#mha#my hero academia#spiderman#into the spider verse#miles morales#peter parker#mha x reader#spiderman x reader#fandom#fandom rant#percy jackson#percy jackson x reader#theres rarely any in percy jackson though. its still there but not as prominent#those ya books#booktok#tag shit correctly#for the love of fuck just do it#it takes two fucking seconds#maybe a bit more but if you could pump out 3.4k words of pure smut I think you'll be fine typing in a few tags#bakugou x reader#tomura shigiraki x reader#dabi x reader#monoma x reader#shinsou x reader#spidermam x reader

Hi, me again. I'm just curious, when/why did you first get into Monkey King? I'd been aware of him for while (I kinda knew who he was, where he came from, that he inspired certain other characters like Goku in DBZ and Saiyuki and stuff) but only started learning more about him recently after I watched Monkey King: Hero is Back and fell in love. I watched an entire playthrough of Black Myth Wukong and, even though I had no idea what was happening storywise, absolutely loved every minute of it! Since then, I've gotten more familiar with the characters and story of Journey to the West, and devoured the three live-action movies, the Netflix movie, Monkey King: Reborn, New Gods: Nezha Reborn, and the Lego Monkie Kid series. I can't get enough of this guy! He's such a lovable little gremlin. I think my fav versions are Hero is Back Wukong and the Destined One.
...Okay now I'm going back to hide in my corner for realsies this time lol (sorry I'm shy)
I am so happy to get asks like this, thank you for fighting thru your shyness to send them!! Fair warning, I do get rambly (I'm an AuDHD writer, it's very hard for me to turn off my info dumping lolol)
First off again, I really really do appreciate getting asks like this!! I put my writing and silly ideas up because I want to interact with other fans!! Sadly within the past few years interaction with fan works has depleted, and so it does make it a struggle to keep up with the creative process. (I've honestly been feeling like I'm speaking into the void sometimes when I post my Wukong stuff. The thing that keeps me going and writing is the few individuals who consistently interact with me with their own ideas and comments. Other people's ideas fuel my ideas, so if you or anyone else has a thought they want to share I will love to hear it and respond to it.) With that said, on to my past!!!
Now, I've always been a massive fan of mythology, and I hyperfixated on Greek myth for years (like, this year is my 16th anniversary kind of hyperfixation). And I always told myself that at some point I would branch off into other mythologies.
I had always felt a connection with Daoism and Buddism because a lot of the philosophies made sense to me. I'm a zoologist, part of my job is teaching people at my city's science museum about nature and animals. A lot of Daoist philosophies are based on the ebb and flow of nature, but I just never found anything that actually hooked me to get me obsessed with it. It was more like a passing appreciation for what it represents and the ideals it holds.
Now complete subject change, I love FromSoft souls games. Up until Wukong, I would write for other fandoms, and get a couple fics in before moving on (and even then it's not a lot. Wukong just…does something to my brain to get me writing) but I adore FromSoft games. I love the combat (I don't think I'm like…competitively good but I can beat the bosses and I have some decent skill) and I especially love the lore. Those games are so rich in lore, I adore it!! About gods and monsters and magic practices, all amazing!
And back in February, a YouTuber I watch for mythology content did a whole video on Black Myth Wukong, explaining the lore of the different bosses. I was bored and hadn't heard anything about the game before, so I clicked it.
I had my mind fucking blown.
That intro to the game? Sucked me in like nothing else. I didn't even get 5 minutes into the video before I was exiting out and looking up how much the game cost and everything I could to learn about it.
Who was this sexy demon guy in gold armor flying on a cloud with this gorgeous music playing in the background? Holy shit this sexy demon guy is challenging a celestial army, he's so badass! Who is he!?!
I stayed up all night learning everything I could about Journey to the West. I bought the books that same night, I bought the game and started playing, I started looking up movies and shows, everything.
And then it hit me, “oh wait, I know who the Monkey King is! I heard that name before!!” And I realized how many things this god had influenced! Characters from all different types of shows and movies and games, all with nods to this story!!
I think my first real moment of being aware of Wukong was actually from the game Persona 5, funny enough. I was never big on anime (believe me, I've tried. Never could get into it) but I did like the Persona 5 game, I liked the art style and story telling. Now for those who haven't played this game, there is a character named Ryuji, who is my fav character.
Ryuji is a brash ball of sunshine who's labeled as a delinquent and constantly looked down upon by the adults in his life because he tried to do the right thing and got fucked over by an adult who was supposed to help him, but instead abused him. He has a Persona (his personality/heart given magical form, essentially) that started out as a pirate based on Captain Kidd. When you level his friendship up enough, his Persona evolves into - you guessed it - Sun Wukong. A pretty funky looking design but I thought it was still fun and kooky and it was the Persona of my fav character from the game, so I was going to like it no matter what. That is technically my first introduction to Sun Wukong 🤣🤣🤣
Since I've gotten Black Myth Wukong and the OG Books, I've been devouring content for Wukong wherever I can get it. I haven't watched the live action movies yet, but I've been watching the 1986 show 💖💖 I want to watch Havoc on Heaven but haven't found a decent quality with Chinese VAs and English translations sadly…
But I've watched all the other animated movies I believe, and I haven't caught up on Lego Monkie Kid (I have…mixed opinions on it) but I just love Wukong in any form!! I have been asked before what my fav version is and I'm gonna give the same answer I did then, I like all of them for different reasons. They all have their charm and flaws and funny moments that make me fall in love with them 💖💖💖
I really really hope to see more of him in the future, especially Hero is Back!! Nezha and Nezha 2 are the highest grossing movies, could you imagine if the same director and writing team did another movie focusing on Dasheng!?! I would die!! Not to mention whispers of Black Myth dlc this year!!! I want all the content I can get on our beloved monkey husband, I love him so much 💖🐒💖🐒💖🐒

For the ask game: common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about?
[ask meme]
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
I...actually get frustrated with the infantilization and/or demonization of characters that could be read as autistic, because it happens so often and there's such a lack of self-awareness when people do it. If one person headcanons it, a bunch of other people pile on, and before you know it, your character is being treated like someone else entirely - and unfairly so.
Let's take the most obvious example and the reason I don't engage with fandom much:

I am so tired of what fandom at large has done to Emmet since 2010. He's been infantilized since day one, often being portrayed as needing Ingo to take care of him or otherwise be his brother's keeper. He's also been turned into a violent, 'unhinged' stereotype since day one. Neither of these things are new. They've been happening since the release of the games. Neither of them have any basis in his canon characterization - a competent railroad employee who's a goofball but simultaneously responsible and always puts safety first.
I was hoping people had moved past that the way they moved past Blankshipping (though some people still do this, too, EW), but it seems like they haven't. Emmet is still either a helpless child or a serial killer waiting to happen to so many of these people, and as someone who actually felt so validated and seen the first time she discovered Ingo and Emmet, it hurts so deeply.
In real life, I'm also infantilized. I turn 35 this year and have a Master’s degree and work a big grown-up adult archivist job and live outside my parents' house, but because I'm neurodivergent and short, I'm frequently assumed to be and am treated like a teenager way more often than you'd reasonably expect. It's incredibly frustrating to constantly be treated like an innocent child because you don't meet neurotypical benchmarks of adulthood the way they want you to or because of the way you carry yourself or enjoy things. But at the same time, people shy away from me because I'm "too intense" about the things I care about.
Sound familiar?
Fandom was, when I was a younger girl, a place where neurodivergent people (especially autistic and ADHD people) were safe from the real world not understanding, accommodating, and accepting us. We generally kept things on the down-low, since it was another thing we'd be bullied for if people knew, but for us, it was a safe space. Then people realized fandom could be commodified, and once capitalism got a hold on fandom and made it mainstream, all our bullies were suddenly in our little space again, and...well, you probably know the rest. (Yeah, they brought their ableism with them.)
I'm not saying old fandom didn't have its problems. It had a LOT of problems. But it was, altogether, a safer space for neurodivergent people to find community and themselves than it is now. Now it feels more about producing things and moving on to the next big thing to produce more "content" to keep engagement instead of an actual community of nerdy, passionate people getting excited about each other's fanworks and chatting about their favorite things together.
And that reflects in how people treat autistic and autistic-coded characters now. Emmet is one example of many - look at Papyrus, or Entrapta, or numerous others.
This trend really, really fucking hurts, and I cannot stand how willingly fandom spaces just go along with it without thinking critically about it.

Sneaking Away
A Few Weeks Later
AKA: Anna Lets Her Character Bias Show
Content Warning: NSFW for sexy biting
The formal part of RAD's opening ceremony goes smoothly. Everyone's speeches--including mine--were well received, and the ribbon gets cut to the sound of camera flashes. Inside is where the party truly begins. Drinks are flowing, people are mingling, and hips are moving as the DJ plays popular tunes through various speakers. Everyone's having a great time.
Well, everyone except for me.
Lucifer's been distant ever since we've returned from Cocytus. If it were just from me, I'd be handling it better, but even his brothers have received the cold shoulder from him. I know better than to push him to reveal his feelings before he's ready, but at the same time this night was to be an unofficial goodbye before Solomon and I returned to our timeline, and the fact that I haven't heard a single peep out of Lucifer...
I would much rather sit through a three-hour lecture with him yelling at me than the continuous radio silence. It also doesn't help that he seemingly disappears into thin air as soon as the two ribbon pieces hit the ground and that no one else knows where he went.
"Go."
Solomon places a hand on my shoulder and leans in close so that other people can't hear him.
"What are you talking about?" I whisper.
"You've had closure with the others. You deserve to do the same with him. I'll make sure you aren't followed. Now, go, before it's too late."
Ducking out a semi-hidden door at the back of the auditorium, I reflect on Solomon's words. I've been able to have conversations with the other brothers about my true identity. Some had more questions than others, and some held grunges for a few days, but at least they were willing to talk about it.
Unlike the eldest, who seems more content with hiding.
Speaking of which, where could he be?
I'm currently sitting on the rooftop, looking up at the night sky.
Of course. It's probably the most quiet part of this entire building at the moment. Thankfully, I know where its hatch is. Scaling the building like a mountain goat would bring too much attention.
~~~
I know Lucifer senses my presence. If my scent didn't give me away, then the noisy hatch surely did. And yet he does nothing to acknowledge it. I suppose I should take this as a win; he hasn't told me to fuck off, not even when I walk over and stand near him.
We lean against the railing and look out on the landscape in silence. As much as I want to say something, I know that he has to be the one to break it. He's always had difficulty revealing his emotions, especially when he's not under the influence of alcohol or serums. I'd only cause him to put up even more barriers if I confront him about it.
And so I wait.
The clock in a nearby tower chimes eleven times.
"What are we?"
Lucifer's sudden question causes me to jump.
"W-What?"
"In your timeline. I'm aware of the pacts, but is there anything outside of that?"
"I...I don't understand--" Lucifer quickly turns his head to look at me, his eyes nearly glowing.
"What am I to you, MC?" His voice wavers. Is he trying not to cry?
I take a deep breath. Out of all the things he could have fixated on, I didn't think this would have been what he latched on to.
"Do you remember me telling you about the man I left behind to be here?"
"The one that you would have married if circumstances were different?" I nod my head.
"I was talking about you, Lucifer." A brief pause to allow him to process my words. "Does that answer your question?"
"It certainly makes me feel better about doing this."
"Doing what--" In a blink of an eye, Lucifer closes the gap between us, wrapping his arms around me and pressing his lips against mine in a passionate kiss that threatens to take my breath away.
He steps back a moment later and grabs my hand, his face flushed.
"Let's get out of here."
"But what about--"
"We gave our speeches. As far as I'm aware, the rest of this evening is just a party celebrating Diavolo's success, and I don't want to pretend to like people that wanted us gone only a few weeks ago. Besides, my brothers' antics will keep everyone occupied enough that our presence won't be missed, so that'll allow us plenty of time to ourselves."
"You know that Solomon and I were planning on leaving once things wrapped up here, right?"
"Don't worry; we'll come back. I just..." A sigh. "Look, I know I've been distant towards you lately, and I want to make it up to you. Please, MC."
I've always wondered how Simeon came up with some of his characters' dialogue. How much of it was strictly was from his imagination, and how much of it was things he believed certain people would say if they acted out his scenes in real life?
How much of it was him indirectly influencing the future?
"I still remember the day I first met you, almost like it was yesterday." I find myself murmuring. "The way you fixed your eyes on me, that noble yet sincere gaze..."
"The moment I beheld it, I was transfixed." I didn't think Lucifer still had access to my memories, so how is he able to recite the next line? "And that was it. There was no going back. I fell for you completely, body and soul." He brings the top of my hand to his lips, kissing it softly.
And then suddenly we were no longer on the rooftop, but instead inside Lucifer's room.
"I apologize, MC, but I can't hold back any longer."
He quickly picks me up and sets me on his bed, saddling me as his lips feverishly touch mine. Our hands soon begin wandering, taking in as much of each other as we possibly can. His mouth travels down to my neck, where he bites down on it and begins sucking.
It is common for demons to drink each other's blood when they get intimate.
Something I've never been able to do as a human, but here...
My mouth latches onto Lucifer's shoulder, my teeth sharp enough in this form to pierce his skin. His blood's quite rich, almost like a deep dark chocolate.
But the low, drawn-out moan that emanates from him is what causes warmth to spread all over my body.
"I want you," he murmurs. "I need you."
His expression is nearly identical to the one that Diavolo wore when Lucifer was in his former angel form in Cocytus.
Like I'm the most beautiful, magnificent creature he's ever beheld.
"Then take me."
I don't know if you are aware of it but EPIC the Musical is about to end. The final saga of the concept album will be released on christmas. It will be about Odysseus's return to Ithaca and while there is a whole song about the killing of the suitors I doubt the killing of the servants will make it in to it.
With that I wanted ask you about your opinions on partially sanitising mythology for modern audiences. To alter certain details to allow them so that they fit better into our morals to allow them to be apprciated by a larger audience in the ways it was probably intended at the time as most people propably won't be willing to or able to learn the moral standarts of the time and judge mythological figures based on that.
Forexample most people today accept and understand that after a war it was normal to take suplies and treasure from the defeated foe but many people can’t look at making the defeated slaves as well even though that was a normal thing to do in greek mythology and ancient greece depending on the time period even though there were tragedies written about it.
Ofcourse leaving out those parts can lead to erasure of certain aspects of certain stories as well. If you don't include the concept of bride prizes you can’t tell the full story of Cassandra forexample. Or leaving put Zeus's assault to make him more morally in the right would impact Io's story
Yes I am aware and of course you know that for my part I am like "fucking finally!" But yeah I am aware and I am preparing myself again for a bunch of things swarming my profile for Christmas hahaha 😆 but yeah I am like "finally it is ending" although somehow I know I won't hear the end of it. But okay I expect we will hear plenty of nice melodies too indeed.
Well that being said I haven't seen any retelling touching the material before (for example even 1968 Odyssey didn't show the killing but did show the way that they were forced to clean the bodies) and when they do it is to somehow make a villain out of the character or make a statement (I believe the book Penelopeia somehow touching the death of the maidens but to show only how poor souls they were) or the mangling of Melanthius (the slave that had his nose and ears chopped off for his betrayal)
I think the answer is terribly simple: modern audiences have been so influenced by the Hollywood ideas of "good guys vs bad guys" that in their mind the heroes of a story would never make an action such as this aka a mass execution or something even if a punishment is redeemed by the time they are making it. Unless the victim of the punishment is depicted somehow as the devil himself then the punishment will not be shown or in cases like Epic for example they need Odysseus "be the monster" to make that thing work 🤔. In their mind only a villain makes things happen or a monster or a man who has lost his moral compass. They do not consider it part of the ancient moral code or justice system in the first place
And thus this is according to me the reason why most of retellings are failing so big time in the first place. Because if one filters these scenes with this kind of perspective of "morality" instead of seeing them as part of history in the first place then they always get the wrong idea. But at the same time people find it hard to relate with the main character that is also associated with the protagonist if they do use such means of justice or punishment so if someone wants to be seen as the hero then they do not use this kind of punishment and if they do then the punished party needs to be seen as someone "who had it coming". So in most people's minds especially with the feministic retellings and all the maidens either did nothing wrong or if they did they are forced (of course the latter could be true as well as I answered to a previous ask a long time ago) and the potential of their own personal choice as possibly presented by Homer is dismissed either as "misogyny" or as something else and therefore in their minds Odysseus punishing them for treason is a concept that doesn't fit to the hero figure they have in their brain. Much less Telemachus who carries off the punishment and he even changes it (Odysseus suggests to kill them by the sword Telemachus decides hanging).
Which I think is wrong in the first place. If people expect things to be cut and clean to "good guys vs bad guys" then no wonder that works of art like Homer become all time classics for thousands of years while the retellings become forgotten eventually. When for example someone pictures Achilles mangling the body of Hector as a punishment because Hector "had it coming" misses totally the point of Achilles performing ultimate hubris against the dead in his anger. When someone says that Achilles is the total villain for doing so because he is crazy villain and Hector was an innocent soul who did nothing wrong they miss the point of Hubris Hector performed when he killed an unarmed Patroclus and bragging about it when Patroclus was stripped off his armor by Apollo. What Homer said was "this is the mistake Hector performed and this is the mistake Achilles performed". Neither side is sanitized and neither side is stripped off their responsibility of the moment. Likewise with Polyphemus incident and Odysseus with which I made an analysis in the past as well, we have Polyphemus who is definitely the force to fight with but also Odysseus performing hubris. There is no doubt that Odysseus is still the hero but the hubris part is not sugar cotted and it is clear it is in the wrong even if his situation can be understood the way Homer presents it (unlike retellings like Epic)
I think the moment someone stops seeing moments like that as the justice system of the time and they make it sound like a monstrous act only a villain would perform the game is lost. On one side yes someone can understand how unfair or even wrong it sounds to have a mass execution but on the other hand is like someone making a movie about a case where multiple people went to jail and either show that the criminals were absolute villains and had it coming or the opposite that the judge is a corrupt villain who laughs maniacally into the night for convicting them.
This is why I wrote my own story of Ismarus as well because this side is left out. I think we need to stop showing these hard moments as a story between villains or heroes and start showing them without sanitizing or villainizing them in the first place otherwise showing them just to show "who is the monster" also does more damage than good
I hope that answers the question.
