Monty is so full of love and he didn't realize it until someone started loving him, until someone LET him for them

Monty who loves helping his partner and taking some stress off their back and Sunny who is so used to handling everything that he can breathe, at least for a few minutes, because of Monty

a few headcanons about the gator who makes messes, and the frantic little jester who cleans them up:

Monty thinks that he's ruthless. He's violent and mean, and has a tendency to dominate conversations. But Sun’s presence changes him, and he doesn't realize it until somebody else mentions it. Sun mellows Monty out. Not just that, but Sun is the one who's high-strung. He's crabby, and loud, and has an awful lot to complain about. Which is fine by Monty, because, for the first time in his short life, Monty's content to listen.

Monty is a touchy guy. He tends to manhandle, especially when he's happy or excited. It's a tendency he forgot about, especially after Bonnie's death, when nobody would ever really come close enough for Monty to grab or hug or touch. Sometimes Monty grabs Sun’s arm or shoulder, absentmindedly slides his hand down to entwine their fingers. He'll rest his hand on Sun’s back, slip his finger through the loop there, as if he's gripping a coffee mug and not his partner.

When going down steep steps or ramps, Monty will offer his hand for Sun to take.

Monty hurries to open doors for Sun without a second thought.

Monty's never thought of himself as a romantic before now. Mostly because he's never had anyone to be romantic with. He brings flowers to the daycare gates all the time. Ethically obtained flowers, and not stolen at all. He kisses Sun's hand, and calls him a whole miscellany of pet names.

Sun handmakes presents for Monty all the time. Despite himself, and a twinge of embarrassment every time he pictures Monty's reaction, Sun likes crafts. He likes sharing his interests with the one person in the world who seems to care about Sun’s likes and dislikes. Sometimes Sun does feel silly and childish about it, but Monty assures him there's no need for any of that. Monty thinks it's incredibly sweet, and thoughtful. There's a corner of his greenroom dedicated solely to the things Sun makes for him.

Sun puts up a fight sometimes, but he secretly enjoys being loved on and pampered. All his life, Sun has been a servant to people. Even after the daycare closed for the night, he was still working. Monty's presence makes him comfortable, and his care gives Sun a sort of bone-deep relief he's never felt in his life.
