I been replaying SWSH and thought I would express a few Rose + Bede family headcanons I have:

▪︎ Rose being distant is a more recent thing and Bede is not coping well with it. He was used to Rose being fairly active in his schooling at the academy, checking in, taking him to dinners, and even sending for him on holidays to spend with Rose.

▪︎ The distance is a mix of Rose being so focused on saving Galar's future and wanting Bede to have some form of coverage incase he gets in huge trouble for what he's doing. He realized that Oleanna had pushed to heavily involve a child and didn't want that to affect Bede's whole future.

▪︎He really took the terrible approach of hurt you to keep you safe, and didn't think how that would affect Bede mentally.

▪︎ He also wasn't aware of the toxic dynamic formed between Oleanna and Bede and was too wrapped up in his plans to reflect or even address it. Bede and him discuss it later on in life and Rose does give him a formal apology.

▪︎ Honestly, later on in life, he just apologizes for everyrhing and finally gives Bede the context and closure he deserves. Does Bede forget it? Never, but he still sees Rose as a father so he has chosen to remain in contact and visits him once a month.

▪︎ Rose's family after game also reaches out to Bede and keeps heavy tabs on him; Rose's mom, especially since her son couldn't do it properly. Bede is surrounded by grandmas, honestly.

▪︎ Rose speaks multiple languages and taught Bede most of them, the ones he didn't, Bede got a tutor for so that he could up.

▪︎ Bede, honestly... Hates when people ask him why he chose to still speak to Rose and hates having to justify himself. It's sad enough that Rose is the only father he has ever known; he can't lose that even if it would be better if he did.
