Love Lies Bleeding headcanons

These are all based within the canon time period of the film (1989) and I might end up making posts elaborating on a couple of these.

Lou’s truck used to be her father’s and she has a strange relationship with it. On one hand, she loves that it’s her own space were she can just drive and think to herself on those sleepless nights but on the other hand, the memory of her father lingers in it as if he’s reminding her that she’ll never be able to escape him.

Jackie was kicked out of her foster home/ran away for a few reasons. Her foster parents found out that she was bi and weren’t accepting of it and started making her life hell because of it, they didn’t accept her aspirations of wanting to become a bodybuilder and she desperately wanted to escape her boring and miserable life in Oklahoma and decided that she’d do whatever it takes to get to where she wants to be.

Lou is really good at whistling, including finger whistling.

Jackie is terrible at cooking. She’s probably attempted to cook once or twice and Lou has banned her from doing so after nearly burning down the kitchen.

Lou definitely has a bunch of videos that she needs to return to the local video store but just hasn’t been bothered to and is racking up late fees. Jackie keeps telling her to return them.

Jackie and Lou’s favourite kind of date nights are the ones where they order takeout and watch a movie either on tv (depending on what’s showing) or they rent a video (which they chose the day before and take turns in choosing).

Lou HATES Star Wars because her dad dragged her to see A New Hope when she was 14 and because Darth Vader reminds her too much of him as well as the fact that she relates to Luke. However, she knows what happens in the other two movies because Beth’s kids love it and love talking to her about it.
