The Guild's actions during the story are so insane, when you think about them properly, you know? When I first read the arc with them, this moment hasn't really occurred to me, as I was too busy going nuts over finally seeing the names of the familiar writers, but now when I think of that... I am not sure, I comprehend how they managed to achieve such a ferocious reputation. I have already made a little post about how extremely dysfunctional the DOA members are, but at least those guys have a plan, which actually makes sense more or less, even despite the gang using cheatcodes/the Book. The same cannot be said of the Guild however archghhjkn. Like, what the hell were these guys even doing??? XD

So here are just some moments, which weirded me out the most

At first I'd like to address the entire story with everyone's favorite tsundere, Lucy Maud Montgomery. Her introduction leaves quuuuite an impression in the best way and nothing makes me happier than the fact, that she gets a chance to find happiness in the following chapters and actually becomes a reoccurring character! HOWEVER, her entire involvement with the Guild is super odd... I still can't wrap my head around her getting fired. She is a girl with a hella powerful ability, who got taken to the Guild from a terrible, terrible orphanage in order to fight for them in the war for the Book, so not only is she very strong, but she's also immensely dependant on the organisation and wouldn't do anything outside of its interests. Yet Lucy is also put under extreme pressure. As she herself puts it, the Guild doesn't tolerate failures and will kick her out the moment she screws something up.

Later we see that this is exactly what happens, when she messes up her first mission. Fitzgerald himself confirms that, since she failed and revealed her ability to the enemies, she's no longer useful, so now a powerful esper, like Lucy works for free as a... laundress?

EXCUSE ME??? WHEN HAVE THE GUILD MEMBERS EVER DONE ANYTHING, BUT FAIL AND REVEAL THEIR ABILITIES?

Let's be real, these dudes were successful like only once or twice...

This fact not only makes Fitzgerald look like an idiot for wasting such a talented and useful worker, because of one mistake, but also as one hell of a hypocrite, cause he is more than fine with everyone else fucking up. And in case of Lovecraft and Steinbeck: fucking up twice. To add to the oddity, we later learn, that Louisa genuinely cares for Lucy and despite her social anxiety actually stood up for her during the entire story, but even that wasn't enough to change Fitzgerald's mind on the issue, though Louisa is one of the few people, whose opinion he respects. Honestly, this is such a waste of a truly useful subordinate. And speaking of which....

The Guild has never even tried to implement Edgar Allan Poe during the war...

This man is actually rather op when you think of it. He can capture and neutralise literally any ability user in Yokohama (besides Dazai, Mori and Ranpo ofc) just by throwing a book at them. Seriously, as we see with Chuuya, they don't even have to read it, they just need to see the pages. Plus the book can be actually sent via email!!! So why has there been an absolute zero amount of strategies with the use of this ability??? They could actually try to catch Atsushi by sending him such email containing any of Poe's mystery stories and then safely carry him back to their base. And it doesn't have to be just Atsushi, it could be literally any of their enemies. Non-combatant, like Ranpo could use this pretty damn well to his advantage and it doesn't take a genius to understand the potential of the "Black Cat in Rue Morgue". But nooooo, it seems like everyone has just forgotten of Poe!!! (Tho to be honest, I can actually see this situation in a funny extra awfgbfggfjj. Not the main story however) The agency would never even learn of his existence, if he didn't personally decide to try to fuck Ranpo's life up. Like, what does Poe even do in the Guild? He's the master architect and, according to him, the third ranking man in the organization, but we never see him be of any use, so Idk. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Lucy at least got to do something, unlike this poor man.

Then there's the entire drama with the Guild's decision to destroy Yokohama. Where do I even begin...

First of all, Fitzgerald has no way of knowing that Atsushi is going to come to Moby-Dick to fight him. Poor guy is the Guild's primary goal and has already gotten himself captured once, so it would have been safe to assume that the ADA decided to hide him somewhere and not send him on any dangerous missions for the time being. That basically means Fitzgerald could have burned down not just Yokohama, but also the only person, who could actually help him find his precious Book.

But if we're to ignore this, let's also go with Wikipedia then~

"Yokohama is the second-largest city in Japan by population and the most populous municipality of Japan. It is the capital city and the most populous city in Kanagawa Prefecture, with a 2020 population of 3.8 million. It lies on Tokyo Bay, south of Tokyo, in the Kantō region of the main island of Honshu. Yokohama is also the major economic, cultural, and commercial hub of the Greater Tokyo Area along the Keihin Industrial Zone."

And if this in itself wasn't bad enough, most people, including me, tend to forget that all Guild members are actually big shots in the American government, which I think is very sad. Because first of all, can you imagine any of the Guild members actually working as politicians?!! The sheer idea makes me hysterical avshbgj. Like, just consider Lovecraft working as a senator or something. This eldritch horror of a man leaves the ocean once in three years at best LMAO. Second of all, I have a feeling, that the destruction of Yokohama at the hands of influential politicians from a foreign country would have resulted in an international conflict or two~ Like as if random deranged rich Americans arriving in Japan, wreaking havoc over there and destroying the second largest city in the country wasn't bad enough, these Americans just HAD to be super influential businessmen and politicians. Louisa, my dear, I understand that it wasn't your intention, but it's as close to a declaration of war as it can get, you know? Fitzgerald may be ready to do anything to resurrect his dead daughter, but I'm not sure, that the execution of himself and the rest of the Guild at the hands of the Hunting Dogs is something he'd like.

(And here's another funny thing that stems from them being politicians 🤭 As @originalartblog wittily pointed out, Fitzgerald wasting all his money fighting sskk has probably resulted in a market crash and recession over in the USA)

I also have some other questions in regards to this entire plan, such as why did they have to waste Moby-Dick just to destroy Yokohama? Yes, it works in the short term, but in the long term they loose a super powerful fortress with the stealth mode and as the practice shows, you better have a safe base, unless you want another lemon freak to blow it all up. I mean, you could just ask Lovecraft to destroy everything for free. Or, if the device is the only way to stop the giant whale from crashing, why didn't Fitzgerald just take it to a far away bunker or something and waited things out there without the need to spend millions of dollars just to survive the explosion? (And it would have been extremely funny, if during the fight with sskk he just threw the device overboard) But I think I have already rambled for long enough already atxhghbgv XD

The Guild is an even bigger mess than the DOA and I think that's glorious 🙌

Hi, hello this is gonna be the one and only time I make a post like this because I seriously cannot comprehend what just happened. I listened to this audio before I went to church and then after I got out of church on the way home it finally hit me.

First thing I wanna talk about is bug 

I need to know what powers bug has because there’s no way that law said does Gage know and we’re not getting an explanation also, I know they’re going to talk later about the situation,

I just want to know how that conversation is going to go because when Gage told us about his mom, I know that was hard for him so I can’t imagine the struggle bug went through not telling him about their powers

Second thing I want to talk about sweets went Ferrell. I can’t imagine the things that are Both going through sweets and laws heads right now

Sweets is probably terrified because they don’t want to turn into the person that attacked them. They don’t want to be like him.

Something that I think is going through laws head is do I want this person around my child. I know they haven’t done anything to her, but I don’t want anything to happen to either of them so I know that is gonna be a conversation that needs to be talked about and I know it’s gonna be hard because I can tell sweets cares about Natalie and Natalie cares about sweets so that’s gonna be a difficult conversation especially because he already asked them to move in 

Third thing I wanna talk about is

is Cyril‘s partner going to die because I know their powers overloaded a lot 

And is Cyril going to be OK because this is the first time that we have heard him actually interact with whatever Roman sees correction, he said that he started to see them after Roman interacted with them in front of him

Helaemond and the fun police

JFC, this fun police vs. helaemond shippers conflict is so annoying.

Yes, it's obvious the ship is not becoming canon.

Does it make talented artists' fanarts uglier? I don't think so. Is their art worse cuz they don't draw canon ships only ? If someone's painting skills improved drastically, since they were practicing daily, wishing to create a hyperrealistic helaemond Valyrian wedding fan art, didn't enjoying this fictional ship have a positive impact on their development as an artist?

I cannot quite comprehend why the fact the actors acknowledged the ship annoyed the fun police/antis so bad. I think it's entirely possible Phia and Ewan hate helaemond with burning passion and merely thinking about it makes them want to puke. But they didn't seem to care about people having a good time in the fandom. YK why? Because it is totally harmless!

One more thing I don't understand is that anti helaemonds, who claim to love Helaena, are cheering for Aemond being "physically abusive" towards his sister. Why do you want to see a character you like hurt? Besides, it's true Aemond grabbed Helaena's hand rather roughly, but is he actually as violent and abusive as Alicent and Otto, who used to slap young Aegon whenever he did something wrong?

In addition, I don't get it why a*ysmonds act as if Aemond couldn't have a good relationship with his sister and love her in the non-Targaryen way just because he has a canon romantic interest. In my view, reducing his emotions to just obsessing over A*ys and hating everyone else deprives Aemond's character of complexity, turning him into one of those poorly written bad boys from YA books...

Do you have any favorite Harry Potter ships?

Well, besides my all-time favorite Grindeldore, I’m actually quite eclectic in my tastes! 🤣

Snarry, Snamione, Snily, Jily, Hedric, Dnarry, Sirry… I’ve read fanfictions about all of them, and I’ve enjoyed them. Perhaps it’s because the Harry Potter fandom has so many talented writers. As long as the story is captivating, I’m thrilled to read it!

There’s another pairing that I initially thought was improbable, but later became infatuated with—

Harrymort/Tomarry!!

***** ‼️ LONG post alert ‼️ Oh, whenever I get to a topic that excites me, I always end up being such a chatterbox🤣Please also be aware of what I say below is only my VERY SUBJECTIVE opinions ‼️ *****

While Harrymort/Tomarry seem to have a lover-enemy dynamic similar to Grindeldore, the premise for each is vastly different. Gellert and Albus once passionately loved each other in their youth, while Tom/Voldemort and Harry share deep animosity and are destined adversaries. How could they possibly be together? Moreover, I once believed that Tom Riddle was an emotionless monster. (But I don’t mean that in a derogatory sense!)

While Gellert might be categorized as a sociopath, capable of true loyalty and emotions towards a select few - Albus Dumbledore- and taking a lifetime to learn how to love, he at least has the capacity to love. This is evident when he ultimately understands the true meaning of remorse and willingly sacrifices his life to protect another’s grave.

But what about Tom?

In my eyes, Tom is a complete psychopath. Perhaps his traumatic childhood twisted his moral compass, but some characteristics seem innate and psychological. Tom’s emotional blunting seems more pronounced. He inherently lacks empathy and remorse. Even if he can comprehend others’ emotions and manipulate them, he doesn’t genuinely understand or empathize with them, which is why he can’t grasp the concept of remorse. Hence, he chose to become Voldemort. This made me question:

How can such a person love? He doesn’t even understand what love is.

This mirrors Gellert’s scathing taunt to Voldemort, “…there is so much you do not understand—!”

Yes, Tom Riddle—Voldemort— does not, and cannot understand love. But can he?

Some of my favorite authors have remarked:

“Yes, Tom Riddle—Voldemort— does not understand love, and he may never be able to. But just because you don’t understand something, does that mean you can’t have it?”

Harry is like a reflection of Tom Riddle. While Tom Riddle, in his hatred and fear, denied love and chose to become Voldemort, Harry, despite facing the same hatred and fear, came to understand what courage meant and chose love.

“Just by letting Harry see even the tiniest hint of Voldemort’s humanity, he will bravely embrace that one-in-a-million hope.”— Oh yes, hope. This is how many Tomarry/Harrmort fictions begin their stories.

Harry might harbor hatred for Voldemort for a lifetime, but the essence of forgiveness isn’t the absence of hate; it’s about learning to move on. If there’s anyone willing to embrace a shattered soul with such heinous crimes, it would be Harry Potter. Just as he has embraced death with the same courage, it’s this Harry who, when confronting his lifelong nemesis, still chooses “Expelliarmus”.

This love-hate story is inevitably not just about the hopes and courage of love, but also about its pain and despair. It makes us question the nature of love, hate, life, death, and humanity.

Harry understands love, so he believes in humanity, which gives him hope and courage, especially when mired in human flaws and tragedies.

“You see the world in such a unique way; I believe even despair seems colorful to someone like you.”—this is a line from one of my favorite Harrmort stories, “One thing he will never know”. In it, Harry chooses to cling to that sliver of hope in Voldemort and falls hopelessly in love with him. When Harry grapples with guilt, Dumbledore leaves him with this wisdom.

"It may seem terribly wrong, but if I may venture a guess, it must also feel so right," were Dumbledore's last words to the boy, "Harry, I don't think there is any shame in love. You must never doubt that when someone has been loved like this, it always leaves a mark, and that it will eventually change everything. You are much braver than I ever was.”

Thanks to these brilliant fanfictions, I’ve come to believe in the heart Voldemort thought he never had. Even if it’s fractured, it still exists, and a sliver of humanity remains. Perhaps we all need a broad perspective to see the world:

Not understanding love doesn’t mean you can’t have it.

I just realized I wrote so much! Maybe it’s because I’ve never shared my love for Tomarry/Harrmort with anyone after Grindeldore. Here’s my chance!

ace good character question mark (not really morally but yes)

(another one of my longer ones, this one more self-indulgent than actually analytical sorryyy i might just be spouting off stuff already said)

okay out of the gate i love ace as a character and i had to just spit out words into the void of why such an asshole of a character just rose to the top of my list of fav drdt characters

now drdt definetely has a lot of assholes in its cast: arturo, arei, j, charles, and recently teruko herself as of chapter 2. now while i do love the latter three, i cant help but say i dont really love arturo and arei as much and find their asshole tendancies more aggrivating

SO WHY ACE? what did he do? out of anyone, he's the one who's become actually more of an asshole compared to ch 2. at least teruko has ch 1 and a reason for being a jerk, j has her redeemable moments and isnt inherently bad, just coarse, charles was redeemed as was arei, and arturo hasn't done anything that made him inherently worse from ch 1 (i can hear u say "what about the whole j thing?" and my point still stands ... he's still just as insufferable lol). meanwhile, ace has turned from a comedic relief who swears profusely to an actual bully, who while still is probably just bite, actually threatens nico's life several times during ch 2.

i think its the sparse moments of "calm" between his hectic swearing that makes him so much more compelling to me. when a character, especially a character as far gone and stubborn as ace shows these slight moments of awareness of themselves, i think it reveals so much to their character beneath surface level without overtly doing a full reveal, making them sm more interesting to me. what makes ace compelling is where the expectations of his supposedly hot headed demeanor dont add up

rambling time ~

ace has a strange relationship with his talent. for someone who is a red headed, athletic, and foul mouthed character is already signing the alarm bells of a leon kuwata character. those three major traits signal to some sort of pride ace would have for his talent. and while in some ways he is like leon in that he doesn't train much, its actually ace's fear of failure that keeps him pushing past his fear of horses. ace has a habit of supplementing one fear for another, like how he overcame his fear of levi with his fear of the killing game. but at the end of the day, ace lives not by any level of cockiness like his brash character design may suggest, but rather by constant fear.

though ace is aware of his cowardice, as seen in his dialogue in ch1, ep2

Ace: Damn ... I know I'm scared of everything, alright? You don't gotta point that out to me. I wanna overcome my fears, but it's really fuckin' hard!

Right away, when called out, ace admits to knowing of his flaw and even more, he wants to improve! it's wild that a character who seems so bull-headed would even comprehend the thought of self-improvment, especially coming from ace. ace doesn't just have the desire to be safe, but he also has the desire to grow past that mindset (though clearly not enough to actually change). moreover, his line of saying how teruko doesn't have to "point that out" will show up again later

i dont have much to say on the trial outside of the obvious ace being a dick and going along with popular concensus. tho his outburst on levi is interesting. especially where he calls levi a coward

Ace: That's right. Shut your damn mouth, you coward -

I wonder how ace now is the one calling levi a coward when ace previously was terrified of levi. he seems especially peeved off by levi's peacemaker attitude the most. honestly, this is some good ol' fashion projection. Ace is well aware he's a coward, but he calls out levi for somehow the same thing.

personally, i think ace is pissed off that someone as intimidating as levi manages to maintain his anger and fears when ace cannot. We know Levi has a darker past that we aren't aware of and with the slight collpase in his character after ace's sharp remarks, it's clear levi isn't as much of a pushover as he lets on. ace noticed this from the start due to his own paranoia - which is why ace feared levi intially sm - and seeing levi somehow being the better person infuriates him. he wishes to be better, but when he fails, seeing levi further rubs salt into that wound.

a clear but inevitable change occurs within ace from chapter 1 to 2, with the creator (i believe i cant find the screenshot sorryyy) mentioning that ace hasn't been dying his hair red like he usually does to hide away his grey hairs, probably due to the stress. out of anyone's reactions following min's exection, ace's is the most vocal

Ace: Get me the fuck out of here! I don't want to be here anymore! Someone, anyone out there, please help me!!

Because everything, from the body discovery, to the trial, to the execution, were all something ace feared would happen and kept wanting to deny by having outbursts and trying to gain some short-term joy in picking fights. but now, every one last of his fears have been proven true, justifying all of his negative emotions. next we see him in chapter 2 is believing the food eden and levi prepared is poisoned and jumping to the conclusion teruko died when she arrived early.

during the motive reveal, ace says off-handedly

Ace: You've been nothing but a complainer this whole time, Teruko, and that's coming from me.

Again, small detail, but shows ace's awareness that he often complains. just adds to how ace views himself.

Tho more concerningly ace says later

Ace: You know what, fuck it! Fuck this motive, fuck investigating, fuck this killing game, I'm just going to walk around randomly and get my head blown off by whatever's waiting for us. Who cares! Buh-bye!

I will touch on this more later, but here we get the first glimpse of ace's self-destructivness. perhaps in some desperate way to escape his fear of death and everything from the last chapter, ace chooses apathy as the solution to facing death

during teruko's exploration at the gym, ace constantly brings up levi's threat from the trial. but unlike before, where he might cower away, ace shows no fear in snatching levi's stretch band and running away. it seems that while before ace may have wanted to improve by following levi, seeing levi do something ace would have done while facing no reprucussions from the rest of cast drives ace mad. after all, levi did threaten to actually harm ace, while ace only makes cowardly attempts to fight, but somehow people are way more willing to look past levi compared to ace.

however, after teruko calls ace "utterly useless" and "volatile, a coward" and "will die quickly" ace comes rushing back into the gym

however, when confronted and teruko only doubles down on her statement, ace is taken aback before saying

Ace: Tch, I should have realized it from the start. In this killing game, everyone is out to get me. Especially people who love picking fights with me, people like you and Levi (side note: in all of my talk of his self awareness, ace still doesn't realize he's the one starting fights smhh). I can't believe I wasted my time with all that dumb shit like arm wrestling and running around screaming at meaningless stuff. I was fucking stupid to not take this killing game seriously from the start. I'm done with being everyone's kickable scaredy cat. The only thing I should do is look out for myself and myself alone.

His previous awareness of his cowardly-ness now has transformed to self-loathing, as he is angry at himself for not "taking the killing game seriously". it sure seems like he did, judging by his fear of it; but it seems to me he more means trying to let himself get caught up in miniscule conflicts to distract from bigger problems. in some ways, it's like teruko in which ace tried to open up (not a lot, mind you) to distract from the looming fear of dying. but now that it has been confirmed, he feels like he has been played for a fool. his awareness of his "scaredy cat" label further intrigues the audience, because it seems ace truly does loathe how much of a coward he is, but is unable to truly overcome it. before, he seemed more willing to openly express it, and his desire to change, exposing himself slightly. but now he realized how much of a weakness that was for him, as pointed out by teruko, so now ace is determined more than ever to mask his fear with more destructive tendancies.

next we see ace is with what becomes the start with his rivalry with nico. we do get a hint in chapter 1 of ace picking on nico, but here, it fully explodes to actually bullying.

when asked what set ace off, nico recounts how he mentioned that if ace keeps on yelling, people will "keep thinking you're dumb". now idk when this happened, but likely right after teruko said pretty much veratim what nico is warning ace about happening. with it already proven true, ace is already prepared to fire back and now direct all his resentment towards his classmates of their perception of him on nico.

Ace: You all think I'm damaged in the head. But more than that ... Levi, Teruko, Nico, Veronika, and everyone else. You all think you can say whatever the fuck you want to my face, right? I'm stupid, irritating, a good-for-nothing, and a spineless coward. Is that what everyone really thinks of me? And it's fine that you drill it into my head over and over again, because you think that I'll forget about it in 5 minutes like you do? Ha! Ha ha ha ha! You're sooo funny! So fucking funny, did anyone ever tell you that? You think I act like this for fun, and then I go to bed and sleep soundly at night, you dumb piece of shit?

THIS! THIS IS WHAT MAKES ACE SO COMPELLING! Because as much as it seems like Ace is rejecting what everyone is saying from the list he made of negative traits, I'd argue only Teruko hands-down affirmed what Ace says about himself. Levi apologized multiple times, Nico further explained he meant it as constructive critcism, and well ... idk Veronika is just thrilled so she doesn't care. Honestly, while it might be true the cast thinks that of him, only 4 people have mentioned it, and two already apologized. But that was enough for ace, because form this dialogue alone, it inadvertenly reveals this is how ace views himself constantly

that's why i love ace's character writing. he can outwardly seem like such a jerk (and he is, no denying that) from being a coward, but with his dialogue, it reveals so much about it without him ever uncharacteristically acting vulnerable. he fully weaponizes his own self-hatred and chooses to instead reframe it as everyone else's full hatred of him. he is constantly hating himself, but at the same time, it conflicts with his want to be seen by others better. due to his own self hatred however, he believes that everyone already looks down on him, which creates its own self-fufilling prophecy

(SPOILER FOR THE RECENT EP 9) this even connects with his relationship with food. while jockies do develop eds due to the strict weight limiations to correctly ride the horse, that quickly can spiral to body image issues, and thus how people view them. ace's ed likely further adds to his hatred to not just himself but his own body, an ed that is further justified by said talent. moreover, we know previously how it is his fear of being viewed a failure that pushes him to become a jockey.

but instead of being able to better himself, he chooses to project and cover these self-loathing thoughts as not just his own, but everyone else's. and with nico - someone ace despises due to nico being the coward ace likely fears he is seen as (get it ... scaredy cat ... cuz ... cuz nico looks like a cat ... hehehe ill see myself out) - to point it out to him right after being told off by teruko is what broke the camel's back for him.

moreover, with how ace questions the others about him choosing to act the way he does "for fun" hints to the actual lack of control ace feels he has not just on the world, but himself. he cannot find anything in himself to like, but because he doesn't know how to be better, he's left constantly internalizing it. it may be why he constantly causing a stir and lashing out, in order to never be left alone to think about it like he would at night

it may be why ace threatens to "bash" veronica's "brain out", so veronika, in all her psycho analysis, only points out the surface level fear of the killing game pushing ace to act the way he does, treating ace like a coward. and he is, but ace knows that more than anyone else about himself and the constant treatment of him as pathetic infuriates him because in his eyes, they all aren't pin pointing anything ace doesn't know about himself that he may be able to control.

(tho before i continue on, just know whatever i've been rambling on about is not a justification of any of ace's actions, especially him being a massive asshole to nico, only due to his own insecurity and not because of nico himself. while ace didn't deserve to be attempted-murder-ed for it, he is the one who took the first shot and people have the right to be upset, especially nico. pls dont take this post as me justifiying ace's actions or his words at all T^T he's an intersting characters and i just like watching characters cause interesting conflicts)

During the cafeteria scene, when david intervenes in ace exposing nico's secret, ace says

Ace: Tch. Of course. You always need people like David to save you from mean bullies like me, huh? What a pathetic weakling. The truth is, you're nothing but a spineless whelp who can't stand up for yourself.

Nico: Why are you so cruel?

Ace: Go ahead and cry. Let everyone swoop in and help you.

Nico: You're ... You're the worst.

Ace: Yeah? And?

Ace refers to himself as a "mean bully" and accepts the label as "the worst" from nico fully, showing how he plans on only "looking out for himself". Ace is aware what he is doing is wrong, which is interesting from the bully archetype.

And as others have mentioned before, his line of calling nico a "pathetic weakling" feels less just directed at nico, but more himself. Ace, in his perspective, finds it unfair that Nico has aroused others' pity while ace only manages to drive them away (here's a thought: don't start a fight first chance u get lol). he believes that nico and him are both equals in terms of "patheticness" but nico, in ch 1, is sought after by xander and teruko (something ace interjects into). In some vain way to gain an edge over what ace views as his worst qualities, ace antagonizes nico, but it only leads to more people supporting nico (obviously lol). we'll see often ace referring to nico as a coward, 100% projecting.

but after david, hu, and nico run out the cafeteria, i think ace's interaction with rose is particularly interesting and definitely worth looking into.

Rose: Ace, you definitely went too far.

Ace: Haah? You wanna go --

Rose: You're doing it again. How do you have so much energy to fight all the time?

Ace: Tch - Look, I just ... I struggle to control myself sometimes when I get angry. Or something.

Levi: Still, that in no way warrants what you said to Nico -

Ace: Oh, like you're one to talk. Why am I sticking around this dump? I'm leaving.

I have to wonder what Rose said that caught Ace off-guard. this is speculation, but initially ace seemed fired up to fight. But when Rose instead poses a question rather than a statement of ace's character, it's what manages to cool him down enough to admit his own anger issues. In a way, Rose may have been a lingering question Ace often thinks himself, and for Rose to verbalize it manages to cool Ace down. But when Levi makes a statement about ace, that and what ace views as levi's hypocrisy is enough to put ace back on the offensive (or defensive... idk he's just angry all over again)

now onto nico's attempted murder (also have to say this, but omg i love ace's va, Seth Raffield. especially during ch 6. bro put his everything to sound actually in pain its incredible work all throughout!)

while most of ace's reaction is in line of what you'll expect ace - hell anyone really if they were nearly murdered - to say (ie swear profusely and scream).

however, for once, ace is offered help from levi and eden (idk about teruko lol but ig she gives advice in telling ace to give up on finding nico.

Ace: Don't bother. I'd rather bleed all over my room than accept any sort of help from you.

Levi: Don't say that. Your injury is serious. If you don't get medical treatment right now, you're going to make your situation worse -

Ace: Then I'll let it get worse! I'd rather die alone than accept your help! It's inevitable anyway, so why should I take your pity on top of everything else I have to suffer through?! Don't talk to me ever again!

Levi: ...

Eden: Don't say that ...

Ace: You know ... Heh. I've always wondered which is worse, dying young or living a long shitty life of suffering. But it turns out neither of those options are as bad as this.

Teruko: What's 'this'?

Ace: Don't ask stupid crap. And also? Go eat shit. [Ace proceeds to pass out]

This always confuses me. LIKE WHAT IS 'THIS' REFERRING TO? The killing game? Being murdered? Nico getting away with murder??? WHAT AHHH?

It's so puzzling I cannot for the life of me figure out what ace is alluding to by what is so bad from dying at nico's hand. Whatever it is is clearly important since teruko points out ace's vague phrasing BUT I CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT!! ( T^T )

Though from what i do know, ace clearly still holds a deep resentment for levi, rather wanting to die than get his help. And that's a huge jump from ace of ch1 who was terrified of death, and perhaps he still is. but we did see early in ch2 after the motive reveal this self-destructive attitude he has adopted since the min's execution.

He fully accepts his death, calling it inevitable, which may be even more true for ace's case with the understanding of his ed. with his body "falling apart" and eds being known to get in the way of a body being able to properly recover, ace's paranoia of death becomes something not just delusion but a constant reality for him. Death is always present in his mind, with it seeming he has spent a long time questioning whether dying young or old is better or worse.

I don't have much to say as of newer material since it's pretty expected of ace's reaction. tho its really jarring how people are fully unwilling to accept the possibility nico attempted to kill ace WHEN HE WAS CLEARLY INJURED. it's wild. i can't say i agree with him fully going after nico during the investigation, but i cant say i think ace is in the wrong since LITERALLY NOBODY IS WILLING TO BELIEVE ACE, not even eden nor teruko choose to back him up on what they saw.

so uh tl;dr (don't blame u)

soo ...yeah ace cool character maybe? idk if anything i really said was anything ground breaking i just had to compile them all together in this big ol' post. ace is a character who idk resonates with me in all of his frustration. a lot of what he says feels like a very human feeling of knowing his wrongs but feeling powerless to make a change, creating a cycle of bitter frustration. it's what really makes ace stand out, as while at first he appears to be a one off hot headed joke, ch 2 takes the breadcrumbs laid out in ch 1 and truly expands on the implications it means. He's the bully trope, but instead of bullying out of confidence, he bullies from insecurity. And not just that, he is very aware of it and hates himself for how he acts. A bully who wants to do better but can't control himself is just intriguing and i cant wait to see more ace development

Final thoughts:

As per usual, so insanely proud of my eight and I'm so glad I'm still here and just as eager to support them and their journey as I was last year, and all the years before that.

There has been so many instances where I've seen or heard these eight do something and thought, "there's truly no group who can do this like Stray Kids does," and that still heavily stands to this day. Nobody is doing it like them and I will die on this hill.

it's so weird to me that there are so many blogs on here who hate harry and yet they just obsess about a few of us//

I have a theory on this, based purely on my own experience:

Many blogs that are critical of/downright hateful toward harry are otherwise dedicated to someone else, usually another 1D member. I've usually seen it with Louis, but I'm a Louie so I'm biased. So those blogs can be dismissed as fans of one of the other guys who are jealous because their fave isn't as big as harry etc. It can be put down to pure jealousy, not worth talking about.

But, blogs like yours, who are full time haters (affectionate) are another story. They can't blame this on jealousy, or say you're bringing Harry down to lift one of the others up. You're telling your honest opinion of their fave and give no reason for dismissal as 'irrational'. And I think, for people who truly, really, actually adore him (ha) the criticism is too much. They think he is beyond it. But, again, they cannot dismiss it. They cannot find an easy reason why your opinion shouldn't be taken into account.

And I think that's why they obsess. They want to find that elusive reason. (And not have to actually take a look at the way Harry behaves).

Again, this is my experience, and I'm aware of very few blogs like this one. Maybe I'm way off the mark. Also, non native speaker, sorry for mistakes, etc.

they do of course have conspiracies that each of us are louies or niall fans. because it seems they simply cannot comprehend that we just aren't fans of harry and the others do not bother us, or we respect the others for just being normal people, not fucking fame obsessed nutjobs like harry.

but yes i agree! they have to follow everything we say because they know we've all sort of figured him out and undressed him so to speak. and it's not an ego thing, i don't think we're all special or really smart for seeing through him. we just point out things that seem obvious when you're not trapped in the fan bubble.

i think the funniest thing about it all is that a few years ago it was just a few of us on here mocking him or pointing out flaws about him. now you will regularly see things we say about him said by hundreds of thousands or even millions of people on twitter or elsewhere. people talking about how dumb he is, how mediocre his music is, how bad an actor he is, how he's aging like a cokehead, how badly he dresses, how desperate of a queerbaiter he is, his zionism, how badly he treats his girlfriends, how awful his entire friend group is, how terrible and empty and shallow his politics and charity are, how delusional and hateful his fanbase is, how badly he sings, how shit his production quality is. this is stuff the haters on here seem to get mad at us about, but it's like honey, we said this to 3 likes on tumblr 3 years ago and now random people can get viral tweets worth 100k just saying the same thing, and you're mad at us? this clearly shows that what we say here are things people can objectively see in the real world, so why on earth stay obsessed with us. surely this man's talent and looks are enough to keep you away from us and our 3 likes.

I think people's reaction to beyonce not winning Grammys vs Austin not winning Oscar's is so interesting. Like they were both expected to win in that respective category. But when beyonce lost people were acting like someone killed her yet when aus lost they turned him into a meme and made fun of him. It proves that stan twitter needs someone to either hate or worship.

Also the reactions to Brendan winning vs harry winning also interesting. Harry had the most popular album and single yet was uNdEsErViNg. Meanwhile while everyone agrees it wasn't BF's best performance or best performance from last year they are glad he won because 'they like him'.

(I don't hate either B's. Just pointing out hypocrisy)

i have so many thoughts on this and i am extremely exhausted/sifting through brain fog, so i probably won't be able to articulate it well, but the core issue here has very little to do with bey or brendan (all due respect to both), and everything to do with the extremely cruel and entirely unfounded, nonsensical hatred directed at harry and austin. which have some very clear, awful parallels that I Do Not Understand.

(side note: there was a lot of, from what i've seen, warranted, criticism and discomfort with that movie, but the support there was just because...brendan's (deservedly) well-liked? he's a lovely man and should've been treated better before?! and it bothers me because that's then not about the quality of the performance, it's about completely outside metrics. this issue could similarly be applied to jamie lee's win. they are both fantastic, they both certainly are worth recognition, but they were in some respects given de facto lifetime achievement awards rather than the merit of each performance being assessed and awarded accordingly. a lot of the oscars are political and personal where they should not be, but i digress.

also curious and sad how we only seem to learn we should've treated someone better AFTER they've been put through hell, and yet we continue to put people through hell for no reason... :| )

harry and austin are both very open-hearted, earnest, kind human beings with palpable enthusiasm for their art. you don't work with/interact with/meet thousands of people at various levels in various places, from industry luminaries to fans to service workers, and have them all come away talking about how generous and sweet you are unless that's simply what you are. for some reason, though, social media hates and resents this. harry being unapologetically warm and effusively authentic. austin being noted for his humility and graciousness. both being introspective about what they do. if aus had won, those same people would've been eviscerating him for winning as they laughed that he lost (which, btw, is so stupid - they are miserable nobodies behind a screen and he is an oscar nominee forever, so what are they proving? countless incredible actors have lost, or never even been nominated!, and it says nothing about their talent and careers). something about austin's sincerity and unguarded dedication for three+ years of his life was mockable to these people because they can't fathom having that feeling of empathy or closeness to anything, so all they can do is tear him down. people saying he seems "nasty" (LMAO??? WHERE? v's stans being legitimately ~nasty~ have fueled WAY too much of this and i hate that the actual press followed their lead in regards to commenting on his voice and his commitment to e's humanity), when the entire awards season he was being embraced and celebrated by everyone around him, by the current greats and his fellow nominees and peers in hollywood, for both his tremendous performance and for his genuine kindness, is like...idk it's honestly sick in some way. people cannot stand seeing it and i don't understand WHY. i love nothing more than compassion, thoughtfulness, and people expressing passion for their craft, i cannot comprehend the way that's rejected by the internet.

additionally, with both of them, there's this...shallow dismissal because they're handsome men of a similar age with younger "fangirls." the haters seem to have the idea that this dismisses any gravity or import anything they create or say ever do. it's bizarre. i saw someone say the only people who cared about the film were fifteen year olds, which is laughably wrong, but they'd say that about h's music too. i saw someone say nothing about the film was important, which i could write a whole other dissertation disagreeing with (and what austin said - if it touches ONE PERSON, it's important! i've written before about why it was resonant and beautiful to me, and i am FAR from the only person it touched, and it has crossed so many boundaries! as, again, has h's music! so...). there's also that pretentious concept that something being popular means it's worthless, which is silly. eeaao has gotten some of this too. how dare people embrace and love something?

stan twitter needs someone to either hate or worship. exactly, there is no in-between, they decide to do this based on pointless whims and meanspiritedness that is ultimately meaningless and says nothing about their targets or their idols. it IS hypocritical and it's wildly unfair. social media will say the most abhorrent things about people who have done NOTHING to deserve it, that i wouldn't even think about people i have concrete reason to dislike, much less would EVER type aloud for all to see. it's about rage clicks and living in that negativity spiral giving them a false sense of superiority. imagine if they directed some of that energy towards some purpose instead of just living to be trolls online. instead they stew in their own misery thinking it makes them powerful. ugh. 😕

Ameku MD Doctor Detective Episode 2 Review - A Night At The Museum

After watching this episode, I need Takao, Maomao and Ron Kamonohashi to meet up and cause chaos. Imagine the giant headaches Kotori, Jinshi and Toto would get from dealing with all of this. Okay, in all seriousness, the one thing I really did after watching this episode was looking up all the medical terminology used in this episode. Despite me being Asian, I cannot comprehend medical stuff for the life of me. I am not a science girlie, but a liberal arts one. My INFP brain isn’t suited for the sciences.

This episode basically shows you why Hollywood put out four movies depicting what happens in a museum at night, but did they ever predict that a murder scene would happen inside one and that it’d be solved by two detectives and two doctors? Of course they didn’t. Did they ever predict that the bones of a T-rex would be used as a murder weapon? Of course they didn’t.

All the information gathering and deductions makes Takao feel a little too OP. Like, we don’t get a lot of clues about what happened to Kumade other than he was a hoodlum and was affiliated with the wrong crowd which lead to his death. However, the moment the Hachizuka Clinic is mentioned, suddenly everything befalls onto Dr. Hachizuka and Takao suddenly reveals that he’s behind everything. While her deducing everything is cool, I do wish that there were some foreshadowing in the beginning because I just feel as if she’s just pulling all of this out of her ass and hopes it makes sense—you know what? I relate to that.

My only issue is that Takao doesn’t feel like she has a major weakness. In the cases of other mystery shows, some of the MCs have weaknesses that make them stand out. Maomao’s weakness is that she puts people at arm’s length and doesn’t really like standing out. In the case of Ron Kamonohashi, he’s actually forbidden from sleuthing, so he has to use Toto to be able to make deductions, but his flaw is that while a talented and expert detective, he has the criminal cornering symptom that can be detrimental to police officers like Toto and to his own health. All I can see from Takao in terms of weakness is that she hates being called a kid and that she’s afraid of her older sister Mazuru. It’s really nothing that can or cannot affect her when solving medical mysteries. Maybe it’ll be shown later on as this is just the first case?

Takao mainly did all the work while the two detectives really didn’t do anything but ask questions like how Konoike did in the previous episode. It makes sense given that the audience needs the audience surrogate so we know what the heck is going on. Kotori is mainly there to explain all the medial terminology flung at us. Though, Kotori did surprise me with how he just karate punched the culprit. Being a doctor and knowing martial arts is practically an OP combination because you know where to hit precisely for effective damage. 

Apparently, the reason why Kumade’s blood was blue was because of methemoglobinemia. I had to look up what that is. Basically, methemoglobinemia is when hemoglobins in your body cannot bind enough oxygen. It can be life-threatening if not treated properly. However, methemoglobinemia cannot turn blood blue—that’s where Methylene Blue comes to play and that’s the reason it caused Kumade’s blood to be blue. I may not know much about medical terms but it does feel cool that the author knows a lot and uses their knowledge to find creative ways to write crime scenes.

But yeah, because Hachizuka was introduced into the story, he was the obvious culprit. It turns out that he’s an underground doctor working with the yakuza, so that means he’s someone who antagonizes the police hence why he didn’t call them and had to deal with Kumade’s corpse all on his own. I think my only issue with this reveal is the fact that the T-Rex did NOT get any blue stains on its teeth despite Hachizuka using it to sever a leg. Is it even possible to stab a limb and not get blood stains all over it?

Anyways, at the end of the episode, we’re introduced to Mazuru, Takao’s sister. I wonder if she’s also a doctor. Anyways, she’s a strict older sister who seems to act like a mom to her. There’s a reason why her name is Mazuru—it sounds like mother. She’s really pretty though! I can see why Kotori is nice to her.

Anyways, the voice cast still surprises me because I did NOT know Hachizuka was voiced by Takahiro Sakurai until I saw it in the credits. What? Not only that, Mazuru is voiced by Nana Mizuki! Again, what? The casting is crazy as heck.

Before I end the review, you’re probably making a lot of comparisons regarding Sakurai and Columbo, right? Apparently, in his character profile, it’s stated that the resemblance towards Columbo is intentional as the man is a fan and why he dresses like him. I feel like the author might be a fan of mystery shows in addition to being a practicing doctor. If you have watched the episode, what are your thoughts on it?

I write Amber as rather young, she is around 18 or 19 years old.

Amber tends to think out of the box. If there is a goal she cannot reach by conventional means, she will come up with an alternative that fits her personal style. One example for this is how she makes use of her pyro vision during her expeditions: it can not only be used during battle, but also make fires, create smoke signals, Baron Bunny can lend a helping hand, and much more.

However, she is very reluctant to use her pyro powers within the forest, even in battle. This is due to an incident in her past. While fighting hilichurls on her own, she accidentally set part of the forest on fire. Captured within the flames, she was only able to make it out due to Jean and Eula coming for her rescue. Seeing the aftermath of her actions and the suffering she had caused for many forest dwelling animals, she promised to prevent any more fire incidents.

Sometimes she may find it difficult to follow others' ways of thinking. She definitely is confident in her own ideas and also a bit stubborn. While she tries to learn from others eagerly, she might struggle with comprehending why others do certain things differently.

During her outdoor adventures, she usually puts her hair into a ponytail or a braid in order to avoid getting stuck in bushes or trees. She had to learn this the hard way.

She has a light tan due to spending most of her time outside. If you look closely, you might be able to see where her clothes usually draw a line and her skin is a bit lighter.

Really, really loves handicrafts. She is good at sewing, stitching, and the like. The only craft she lacks talent for is wood carving.

Can make a list of places where she has already crashed while practicing special stunts with her wing glider.

In order to survive in the wild, she has to be able to make her own food. She is not the most talented cook and has already poisoned herself more than once by adding dangerous mushrooms or berries, but she doesn't let it discourage her. Sometimes she gets tips from Sara from the Good Hunter, where she frequently meets Eula to grab a bite.

Amber has a general interest in the land of Liyue where her grandfather hails from. She would love to visit it some day, but struggles with leaving her responsibilities as an outrider. There also is the thought of searching for her grandfather, asking him why he left, why he didn't tell her anything, just why… but it would be quite scary to actually search for him. What if she doesn't like the answers?

Looks like she has had at least 5 cups of coffee, despite having 1 at most. She simply is energetic in the morning.

I do agree that fenx xin is really abrassive when speaking to mu qing and needs to apologise for saying things that hurt (however I do think he hasn’t actually figured out he’s said anything wrong yet) however I disagree that this has anything to do with jealousy.

A big part of feng xin’s postition is devotion above all else. He, unlike mu qing, prioritises ‘typical’ displays of loyalty over ‘atypical’ shows of it and does not comprehend the way mu qing thinks or acts.

Classic comparison is between mu qing prioritising choosing his mother over xie lian whilst feng xin chose loyalty to his prince over his lover and child. Xie lian ‘gets’ it (he doesn’t really but he ‘can’t force mu qing to stay’) but feng xin fundementally sees it as a betrayal.

This difference in perspective between feng xin and mu qing happens a lot but particularly when mu qing questions xie lian on anything; feng xin absolutely does not get why mu qing does this instead of blindly obeys.

I personally think this reflects back on a bigger look at class surrounding mu qing’s arc (and in tgcf) rather than jealousy because it’s not only feng xin that does this, it’s just feng xin that speaks out.

Xie lian and mu qing admittedly do not understand each other. Mu qing sees himself as a good deed ticked of a list whilst xie lian, born to want for nothing and raised with the security to foster an insanely altruistic to the point of self destructive ethos, cannot comprehend the ‘loops’ mu qing has had to jump through to even consider it a possibility. Being in a position where he wants for nothing (in his youth) has never had to play underhand, manipulate or use other people so literally cannot comprehend it.

The social gap between the two is only really rescued when mu qing dares to speak plainly to xie lian in book 8 after he is rescued. It’s really interesting how mu qing and hua cheng sometimes foil each other from their impoverished backgrounds to their talent with a sabre that is identified by xie lian.

Mu qing, sceptic at heart, interprets every action xie lian takes as double edge. An insecurity xie lian never really disperses fully because he doesn’t see it, experience it, understand it until his first banishment. By which point the stain to his reputation he experiences is so sudden and sharp that mu qing’s action to not stand by him feel like a direct betrayal and, ironically, he also misinterprets mu qing’s actions as a direct slight against him. [I am thinking specifically of that cultivation valley scene]

Whereas Hua Cheng trusts xie lian’s every action implicitly and unwaveringly. Unlike mu qing, who views xie lian’s kindness as tokenistic, hua cheng experiences how xie lian stands by his ethos even against striking adversity and interprets xie lian’s intentions far more accurately. Which in some ways is possibly easier for him because xie lian gains nothing except a bad omen from having honghong-er around.

Xie lian’s misinterpreation of mu qing’s behaviour relates back to feng xin’s treatment in a few ways. Feng xin was likely brought up with similar comfort to xie lian and, likewise, does not get how mu qing may have a steeply different world view and Anything feng xin percieves as a slight against xie lian he is going to criticise. Which fundamentally makes these two clash; unlike xie lian who is more open to dialogue once he’s figured out they aren’t on the same page, feng xin is far quicker to jump to conclusions.

We see mu qing criticised far more times than feng xin is, but the one time feng xin is: for defending a child and hurting qi rong, he responds to breaking his own arm as recompense for his infraction. And he dubs it ‘fair.’ Notably qi rong does not have to be beaten to near death for doing the same to a child; mu qing opposes class differences like these whereas feng xin upholds them and xie lian doesn’t see the problem with them.

Another example is mu qing picking cherries. He is allowed to in theory but in practice is labelled as stealing them for him mother. Xie lian, instead of saying what he thinks, which is that mu qing is allowed to pick the fruit, uses his authority as prince and says mu qing is picked them for him because he think it makes mu qing’s life easier. In this case, xie lian’s support overlooks the bigger issue of classism that he doesn’t see mu qing struggling with.

To highlight further the differences in class that Feng xin and Xie lian have compared to Mu Qing; only mu qing is able to effectively handle money during the first banishment. And Feng Xin is no happier once mu qing leaves during xie lian’s first banishment. I do wonder if there is a subtle element of classism showing however in how they only begin busking once mu qing leave even though it was his idea (this hypocrisy of the upper class appearing more dignified than the working class whilst on show vs being just as, in this case, desperate for money as anyone else).

Another clue to how feng xin and mu qing differ is their interpretation of xie lian robbing. Mu qing sees it as dismissable whereas feng xin almost needs an explanation for why, because he does not see it as a viable solution to desperation. This is when I would timeline xie lian to begin to become aware of how ludicrously difficult his ethos is to follow for the common person. Again, he percieves mu qing openly acknowledging his robbing attempt as a slight against him (in a very mu qing fashin tbh) whilst mu qing doesn’t really grasp the whole integrity of it at the time.

I do think mu qing has a lot of internalised classism too that blooms as insecurity. The above moment parallels when mu qing gets flustered about his supposed theft of the golden foil (? Forgotten word). (Notably feng xin is far quicker to lose faith in mu qing for an infraction than he is xie lian.) Mu qing assumes he is going to be accused of theft because he is from a poor background and the poor always steal. Even when he really isn’t this insecurity permeates how he views himself to be viewed; he can never leave his background behind him and stand confidently as an equal with xie lian or feng xin even when they are all gods. He always views himself as lesser and a victim of their classism, even when he is the one actually projecting it onto himself.

His entire persona as a god exudes haughtiness and agonising superiority, from the tidiness and prettiness and prioritising of his own image, mu qing is desperate to be perceived as equal because he is overcompensating for feeling inferior.

But as feng xin notes, the sarcasm is a plaster being used to cover up a missing arm. If you want to be friends just say so, stop with the sarcasm. Feng xin is painfully idealistic in the sense that he genuinely just does not notice certain issues like with Jian Lan, it occurs to her that he cannot buy her out but he doesn’t even see bit trying as an option. Likewise, he doesn’t ever stop to think or try to empathise with mu qing’s perspective. But I personally interpreted the banter in book 8 as feng xin just kind of jabbing at mu qing like an equal, not recognising that what he is saying is actually riling mu qing up (he doesn’t even notice xie lian politely trying to tell him to shut up) because in his mind, he’s just making a point and there is nothing to be sensitive about.

In a way, Feng xin’s blindness to social differences crossed with mu qing’s hyperawareness of his perceived inferiority boils over into these two clashing badly because they constantly misinterpret each other’s intentions. I don’t think feng xin is intentionally being cruel but it kind of emphasises the idea that ignoring a person’s background and experiences is not the same as treating them equally. Xie lian gets this by the end but Feng xin does not. (Or if he does i have not read it yet)

tgcf fandom can we please start holding feng xin accountable for being an ass to mu qing for 800 years. like. he started most fights and was constantly on servant mu qing's ass who was just trying to survive but people always skip over it

This show is very impressive, and I honestly cannot comprehend how they can do this twice a day.

The dancing makes the show - those guys are immensely talented. I mean - they are dnacing in the aisle, hanging from lights, gymnastics - it's beyond impressive.

Characterisations:

MICHAEL AHOMKA-LINDSAY (Jack Kelly) - I liked his Jack Kelly. He had a suaveness about him that made it easy to believe that people would be drawn to him. He also had the 'older than his years' thing down.

BRONTÉ BARBÉ (Katherine) - tbh I personally am not a fan of Katherine, but Bronté makes her as likable as I think she can be. She has a nice voice.

RYAN KOPEL (Davey) - it was great to be close enough to see Ryan's expressions and mannerism. He played Davey as intially very nervous, clenching and unclenching his fists at his side. He (Davey) also seemed unsure.of himself. My personal opinion is that his voice was stronger than Michael's at this performance. I'd like to see him perform again in a few months time.

MOYA ANGELA (Madda) - tbh we don't see a huge amount of her, but her voice is phenomenal. Once they sort out the mic issues she will blow people away. He rendition of That's Rich was met with rousing applause and cheers, only second to Sieze the Day.

MATTHEW DUCKETT (Crutchie) - he has a really nice voice, and his facial expressions stood out to me.

NESIM ADAN (Les) - serious talent here! His facial expressions surpassed all of the adults. Brilliant!

I was sitting in Brooklyn 2nd row and was right by one of the entrances for the performers. I was pre-warned that a cart would go past me and was told "don't be scared". Ngl, a warning about Jack Kelly crouching down next to me (if I moved my foot I'd have kicked him - I could've reached out and touched him), the guys coming on swinging baseball bats, tables being rolled in my direction at high speed and having Newsies jump in my direction and stop just before me, was much more surprising then the fruit cart!!!!

Absolutely brilliant being so close to the show. The performers were standing and crouching next to me! One of them actually knocked my leg after he jumped off the stage and spun round to run back on again and mouthed 'sorry' to me.

As this was a preview show there's a few little things to iron out, mainly the mics. At times the mics came on too late. As I was so close I could hear them speaking, but I don't think people further back would've been able to.

I also got one of the papers thrown into the audience. It was thrown at me by Davey (Ryan Kopel) - ngl, chuffed.

Komaeda stiffens beside you. The gentle rise and fall of his bare chest ceases entirely as he holds his breath. His hair has just started to dry again after your swim, the ends are beginning to curl but the majority of the strands still lack their usual volume. It makes him look smaller, more vulnerable.

You can’t help but wonder if it was genuine happenstance that you caught him in the ocean tonight, or if his luck had a hand in it. Thinking about his luck too much always stresses you out, would seeing him standing waist deep in the water - droplets running down his bare skin and glinting the perfect moonlight - be considered good luck or bad? Did he curse his talent in that moment, or did he see the adoration in your eyes, the way your breath caught at the sight of him, and praise it.

You hear Komaeda laugh, a familiar sound. Pleasant, but altogether fake, like a strawberry milkshake with too much syrup, “I will admit, that was quite a funny joke, if a little hurtful.” he looks at you from the corner of his eye, “Though i cannot rightly criticise you for making jokes at my expense, there is little else i am good for.”

It hurts that he thinks you would make such a cruel joke. It hurts that he doesn't have it in him to believe it.

The wind rushes by and you shiver. Even though you are mostly dry after your brief stint in the ocean, the cool air still makes your skin prickle. Komaeda’s jacket is spread out on the sand beneath the both of you, a gesture that is likely more intimate than he intended for it to be. You worry, frequently, that for all Komaeda’s posturing about talent and hope, that maybe you still don't fit the bill. That you may be worthy of his worship, but fall short of being worthy of his love.

“I wasn't joking.”

Komaeda chokes on what might have been a laugh before it died in the back of his throat. You can hear him shifting slightly, his hands clawing nervously at the jacket beneath him. Again you can't help but wonder, if this moment is good luck, or bad. The sound of your heart is so loud in your ears, and your hands are shaking so furiously that you are surprised the stars in the sky haven't all imploded. The moment feels big enough.

You hear a little more movement beside you, clenching your muscles in a bid to keep still, like even the slightest twitch from you will scare Komaeda away like some frightened animal. Ridiculous, Komaeda doesn't scare easily.

“I won’t stop you.” he whispers, you turn your head just enough to look at him. He’s rolled over onto his side, his slowly drying hair cascading down over his shoulder, pale eyes glinting in the moonlight. Your heart is hammering at your ribs.

You wet your lips with your tongue, and follow his lead, rolling onto your side and carefully examining his face. His eyelashes are really pretty, and they’re faint, but at this proximity you can see a small smattering of freckles across his nose. Like constellations on a cloudy night.

His lips taste like salt when yours press against them, chapped but soft and undeniably gentle. You shiver with more than just the cold when you dart your tongue out just a little, and he readily opens his mouth to accept it. He lets you explore the inside of his mouth, the sharp ridges of his teeth, the underside of his tongue; a moan cuts loose from your mouth and you tangle one of your hands in the back of his hair. One of his hands comes to rest on your cheek and you almost sob.

“I want to do more than kiss you.”

His thumb strokes across your cheekbone, and your eyes meet his. He blinks slowly down at you, contemplative but hungry, “Again, if that is truly what you want. I won't stop you.”

There's a heavy weight in your chest at those words, at his assertion that you could have your way with him, but not a single shred of genuine reciprocation. You are ashamed of how weak your voice sounds when you whisper, “Do you...actually want to? Or are you just letting me because I want to?”

Komaeda’s head cocks to the side, “I don't understand why the distinction matters.”

“I’m not just chasing some momentary desire, Komaeda.” you laugh bitterly, “I have feelings for you. Romantic ones.”

He stiffens for a moment, and you can see the cogs turning in his brain. There's an icy chill down your spine as you prepare for his rejection. He loves everything about you, but he doesn't love you.

Unannounced, Komaeda swings his leg over your hips and rolls you onto your back. Looming over you with a smile that actually reaches his eyes. You can count how many times you have seen that on one hand, but here he is, grinning down at you with an indescribable warmth that you feel from your chest all the way down to your toes.

“I was more than happy to be used for your pleasure.” He breathes, eyes turning misty as they meet yours, “To be able to touch you for just one moment, but this...this.” a breathless laugh escapes him, shaking his boney shoulders, “for you to return my feelings...the bad luck around the corner must be immeasurable, but im…” he heaves a shaky breath, “im so happy.”

His feelings. His feelings. The words vibrate around your head as you struggle to even comprehend them. He has feelings for you. Nagito Komaeda is leaning over you, pale hair lit up by the moon eclipsed by his head. Bathing him in a halo of white light. He looks angelic, and he has feelings for you.

“I want you.” You breathe, “Please, Nagito.”

His breath hitches at the sound of his first name dropping from your mouth. So unbelievably intimate, so tender. He tilts his head down, and slots his lips against yours. This time his hands waste little time before wandering across your skin, the bathing suit you picked up from the supermarket hides little, and you feel your flesh buzz as his hands pass over it. In the end, his palm sits comfortably in the curve of your waist and his other hand is planted beside your head to keep his balance. The salt in his mouth is slowly dissipating, giving way to a taste that must only be him. Your arms twist around his back, tracing the bumps of his protruding vertebrae, dancing across his fragile skin.

Your tongue slips into his mouth and you feel his hips twitch. With only the layers of your bathing suits to separate your skin, you can feel his growing hardness very prominently. You buck your hips upward to feel it again, and Komaeda instinctively bites down on your lower lip.

“Oh no. Did I hurt you?” He whispers, pulling back and brushing across your lower lip with his thumb, “I’m so sorry, though I shouldn’t be surprised that someone as worthless as myself would cause you pain.” You feel him start to move, “I should go-“

In a feat of strength that surprises even you, Komaeda is now pinned underneath you, arms pushed backwards onto the jacket atop the sand and wrists gripped tight in your shaking hands.

“Don’t go.” You press a hot kiss to the side of his throat, “You didn’t hurt me. I liked it.” You graze his neck with your teeth and he quakes below you, “I don’t want to stop unless you do.”

His breathing is shaky, his thin body quivering so much that you're almost surprised you can’t hear his bones rattling, “I don’t...I can’t stop. If you could read my perverse thoughts right now, you would be disgusted by what you would find.”

You laugh, releasing his arms and running your fingers down his chest, “Doubtful. I think if anything I’ll find that your thoughts mirror my own.”

Komaeda squeaks when you pull one of his nipples into your mouth, sucking gently, you run your knuckles up and down the side of his ribs. Smiling when you can hear his heart race, “Such a pretty boy.” You whisper, circling his nipple with your tongue. His hips stutter upward to meet yours, he seems to like it when you whine.

“I...I…” Komaeda’s throat bobs, “I’m not doing anything...I should be worshipping you, but I’m just lying here…”

“Shh, Nagito.” You breath, grinding your hips down on his, gentle enough that he can only just feel it, “I like doing this to you, I’ve wanted to do this to you for so long.”

“You...you’ve also been thinking about it?”

“Thinking, among other things.”

Komaeda barks a laugh, covering the lower half of his face with a hand, “Are you implying, that all those nights I fucked my pathetic hand thinking only of you, that you were-“

“Three cabins down, thinking about you?” You giggle, dragging your tongue up his collarbone, “That sounds about right.”

“I must be dreaming…” he whispers, looking past you and up at the sky, “it looks like the constellations are caught in your hair.” His shaky hand comes up and cups your cheek, “I don’t want to wake up.”

You smile, gently working his swim shorts down over his narrow hips, “Then don’t.”

He pushes himself up on his elbows, pretty face turning nervous as he is suddenly naked in the open air, though he isn't alone for long. He watches in awe as you toss your swimsuit off into the sand somewhere, eyes wide and watery as they trace the curves and angles of your body. His hips dig into your thighs when you position yourself on top of him, hands pressed gently on his chest, worried that his birdcage ribs might shatter if you put too much weight on them. You can feel his heart racing under your palms, fragile, perfect, beautiful boy. He is shaking under you, pale skin shining in the light of the moon. You lose your breath, completely enamoured with him, with his big green eyes, the mess of his hair, his collarbones so sharp that you swear you could cut yourself on them.

“I haven't done this before.”

Komaeda’s breathless silence is filled only with the ebb and flow of the ocean behind you, with the salt in the air and the stars in the sky. He sits up a little, arms shaking under his weight as he holds himself at eye level with you. He takes in a wheezy breath, one side of his mouth quirking up in a familiar nervous smile.

“You don't have to.” He whispers, “I...I’ll only disappoint you.”

It only takes a gentle push to his chest for him to fall backward onto the sand. Blinking up at you with wide eyes as you slowly start to lower yourself down onto him, “You could never disappoint me” you breathe, and then he is inside of you.

Just where he belongs.

The prettiest moan you have ever heard rips loose from his throat, his head tossed backward onto the sand and eyes scrunched shut. He is twitching inside of you, his hands clenching and unclenching at his sides like he isn't sure what to do with them. You lift yourself up just a little, and he almost sobs when you drop back down again. It feels good, you feel full. There's a twisting in your gut that tells you to just move, just move. You aren't sure how much longer you can resist it.

Komaeda is in a similar state. You are so warm, so tight, so perfect. He can feel his hips twitching with a desire to just give in, to pump himself as deep inside of you as possible. It’s pathetic, it’s selfish, but he wants you to be his. He wants to be so far inside that you can't pull him out again, he would do anything to be here forever. Completely naked, out in the open, in the middle of the night with you writhing on top of him. Your face twists in absolute pleasure, and he can't help lording over it. Then, you moan again. Head lolling backwards as the guttural moan morphs into the syllables of his name.

You don't even have time to warn him before you topple over the edge, the world flashes white behind your eyes as your walls twitch around Komaeda’s desperate cock. He lets out a rattling breath, so close, so close, so close-
