Intro to The BoxCutters

Okay guys, for once I promised something and I'm gonna deliver. This is a band of OC's that I created and very much would like to put into compromising and fun whumpy situations. This is a brief overview of the band members, and their personality, but I do have quite a bit of worldbuilding and other details all in my head about this stuff. So without further ado, meet the new crew, and don't hesitate to tell me what you think!!

Chante: (26, asexual, panromantic) okay so Chante is our lead man. He sings and plays lead guitar, but sometimes he plays the keyboard, or will hop on and surprise the crowd with some other instrument.

He actually has a degree in engineering, but has always loved music. Many people would describe him as a bit of a prodigy, he's the sort of guy who can pick up and play most instruments, but the credit goes to his hard work more than anything else. He's dedicated to his craft and it paid off big time over the years.

He's incredibly friendly and open. The sort of guy who sees a room of strangers as a room of future friends. He's great at networking and making connections for the band, and is well loved by most people. He can be a little bit of a control freak sometimes if people aren't taking things as seriously as he is, and can also wear himself down by not knowing his limits.

He absolutely rocks crop tops, is a total morning person, collects guitars and treats them like his babies (can unintentionally be a bit of a snob about it), and he gives music lessons as a side hustle.

Keiko: (25, straight) Keiko is our bassist, she's a huge stoner, and an original member of the band. She's a pretty good songwriter, and has written a lot for them over the years. She's got a wicked sense of style and a wicked sense of humour. Probably the ultimate memelord of the group. She's messy in all senses of the word, gets distracted and ends up in drama. She's not afraid to stand up for herself or for others, but is very much a sweetheart. She's just a sweetheart that is incredibly blunt.

Keiko makes herself at home wherever she is. She can get comfy and take a nap anywhere. She's incredibly artistic, and usually has several projects on the go. She's got big ambition but little follow through. She has two pet rabbits, Peter and Apple Juice, and she would die for either of them and gives them the best life possible. She's a big lover of animals, including all of the critters that people are generally scared of, and would scold anyone who dare even think about squishing a bug. She's got a tattoo sleeve inspired by the Great Barrier Reef.

Lastly, she lives in a house with Tyson, they've been roommates for years, along with a rotation of various strangers. The two of them are the big trouble makers of the group, and often have a rather annoying friends with benefits thing going on with each other while they're bored. It doesn't even cause friction, because they have zero romantic interest in each other, but it's definitely not the best use of either of their time.

Sadie: (26, lesbian) Sadie is a guitarist and singer and the newest member of the band, introduced to them by Chante after he'd graduated from university. It was the two of them that really got the band up and running again. She's incredibly organized, and with Chante's executive skills, they whipped thing back into shape.

She doesn't usually sing lead, but on occasion she will. Whether she's leading or being a second vocalist, she has a really powerful and beautiful voice that brings a lot of texture and life to the sound of their music. Out of the group, her stage presence is the most different to her everyday personality. On stage she unleashes this monster of a performer, and always gives her all to put on a show. She'd be the most likely to stage dive and crowdsurf.

Otherwise, she is the most subdued and lowkey of the gang. She's not quiet or shy per se, but she has lots of intention behind what she says. Sadie is also a massive flirt, and a bit of a hoe, but we don't slutshame her. She's always getting with the ladies, and has many short term relationships, but things never get too serious before she sorta gets scared and dips.

Her style is very simple and clean cut (my drawing is kind of extremely casual compared to what she'd usually wear). She's the sort of person to iron all of her clothes, and buttons her shirts all the way to the top. She makes this very put together look seem incredibly edgy, but the mullet helps with that. Unlike Chante, she doesn't collect guitars, but has two that are reliable and that she cherishes and will use till they're falling apart. (Oh and she's a total lightweight)

Tyson: (25, bi) Tyson is our drummer. He has been a percussionist since a young age, and ended up being quite the band geek in high school because of it. He loves to mess around with the toys (percussion toys, you sickos) but his passion has always been drumming in its various forms. He gets to whack things, what's not to love? The Boxcutters were his idea, and it was his humble garage where the band got its start as angsty teens. A classic origin story.

His parents were mostly happy for him to be engaged in anything that kept him out of trouble, since he has ADHD that leans very much towards the hyperactivity side, as it often does with males, and he struggled a lot throughout his childhood with being quite disruptive. He is very competitive, and sometimes takes things too far because of this, and will never turn down a dare. Fortunately his friends are around and are pretty good at reining him in when they need to. Being the third out of four children in his family, he's always felt the need to get attention, which he usually tries to get by being a class clown sort of character, but he often doesn't know when is the right time for that stuff. On top of it all, he's a chronic oversharer. He unintentionally is rude a lot of the time, or can sometimes snap and be mean, but he almost always is willing to accept responsibility and apologize once he's cooled down.

He's great at a party and fiercely loyal, a sweetie that sometimes tries to be tough but it just ends up being very funny.

From Darkness Into the Lantern Light - Chapter 3

Hi, whoever is reading this!  If you've been following this fic so far, thank you! Due to a change of circumstances, I'm going to have to alter the publication of this story; however, my number one priority still remains giving you the whole story, so, as a result, I will be releasing chapters at a greatly increased rate. Nevertheless, I hope you can still enjoy them!

Summary: Once upon a time, there was a cold-hearted queen. Although the Tsaritsa, as she was called, possessed her own divinity, she coveted the powers of the other Archons. Aiming to steal the Geo Archon’s gnosis, she sent her strongest warriors to Liyue Harbor. But just when Rex Lapis was almost defeated, he escaped to another vessel, that of a powerless baby, and was swept away to a hidden tower for his protection.

Many years after the great fight, the young and ambitious Harbinger, Childe, arrives in Liyue to grant the Tsaritsa’s desire, but, on his search for the Geo Archon’s gnosis, he ends up tangled in a mysterious man’s dreams to see Liyue Harbor’s Lantern Rite.

The incessant, distant ruffling of leaves and chirping of birds could not penetrate the dense silence that sank in the valley. Childe could not think of any small talk to make with a man who had spent his entire life up until present in a tower, and Zhongli refused to converse at all; he just trailed slightly behind. Of course, Childe couldn’t fault Zhongli for distrusting him, and he was flattered by the attention (even if it was overwhelmingly negative), but the silence was irritating. At this rate, no sort of trust would ever result. 

“Childe.” Despite his previous complaints, even Childe was surprised by how delightful he found the sudden voice to be. “Look at this.” Zhongli pointed to the right.

Lying on a nearby stone was a mutilated skeleton. The holey remains of his cuirass and tall spear suggested that he was once a millelith. His arms were cracked in several places, and there was a notable dent in his skull. His hollow eye sockets reflected nothing. How did they look before the end? Was there fear? Pride? It was too late to identify him, but Childe honored his remains nonetheless; he had died honorably in combat.

“Don’t worry. This man died a long time ago; whatever killed him shouldn’t be around here anymore.” Childe didn’t know why he was reassuring Zhongli—it went directly against his goal of scaring him back to the tower. But, for some reason, he couldn’t stand to see Zhongli’s eyes searching frantically under furrowed eyebrows.

“You’re right.” Zhongli’s eyes were calm when they met Childe’s. “I was overthinking it.” He turned mournfully from the body. Then, his head shot up again, his hand reaching for the base of his ponytail. “Agh—!”

Childe peered over Zhongli’s shoulder. A pair of hilichurls were tugging at Zhongli’s unbelievably long hair. Already? His short-lived sigh broke into a grin. “Don’t move, Zhongli. I’ll take care of them.” He pulled out his two daggers. This would be over in no time and cement Childe as a good guy in Zhongli’s mind. 

Hilichurls were rather simple creatures, so the fight would not be too exciting. But any kill—any victory—would help lift Childe’s spirits from the recent series of misfortunes. Noticing his murderous approach, one of the hilichurls, armed with a club, charged at him. With one hand, Childe knocked the weapon from its hand; with the other, he rammed a dagger through its chest. Its arms fell limply, and when Childe pulled out the dagger, it collapsed on the earthy ground. One down. 

Childe peeked back at Zhongli, who, while holding his frying pan defensively, was coiling up his long hair.

Then, Childe turned back to the other hilichurl with a grin. Unarmed and next to its dead comrade, it began to flee. Not so fast. Childe threw his second dagger into its lower back. If it hadn’t died, it certainly could never walk again. Nevertheless, Childe was thorough and strided over to finish the job. 

Up the road, Childe spotted a mitachurl: a slightly more entertaining opponent. He quickly stamped the fallen hilichurl’s skull to ensure its death--two down, he counted as he prepared for the mitachurls charge. And sure enough, the beast flew at him in a swirl of its axe. Childe ducked under and swung at its leg. Then springing up, he slashed at its throat. Finally, he stabbed through one of its arms to stop the swing of its weapon and slammed the other dagger through its jaw. Three. All clear. 

Childe strutted back to where Zhongli was—or was supposed to be. He had disappeared. “Zhongli?” Childe called out. Theoretically, if Zhongli disappeared, that would free Childe from his obligations, but he had made a deal with Zhongli, and he intended on carrying it out—at least until Zhongli changed his mind. 

Childe didn’t have time to look for Zhongli, however, because something more outrageous caught his eye: a mechanical giant. What was a ruin guard doing near Mingyun Village? Before Childe could contemplate that question or Zhongli’s safety, a series of missiles flew in his direction. He dropped and rolled away as the missile cratered the ground meters away. By then, the ruin guard was already looming over him. It lifted its foot to crush him. Childe just barely managed to get away in a quick scramble to his feet.

In theory, with Zhongli gone, Childe’s fighting would be less inhibited. But in reality, concern for him plagued Childe’s thoughts and slowed his reactions. He had to quickly end the battle and find Zhongli, but it would be difficult to hit the ruin guard’s weak spot on his face with two short blades. The polearm! Childe glanced over to the skeleton, but the spear was nowhere to be seen. Not now! I swear it was right by him earlier—

The robot’s large fist slammed into Childe’s cheek, knocking him to the ground a couple of meters away. He blinked in and out of consciousness several times as he watched the ruin guard spin closer in a blur. It pulled back its fist for the final blow. 

But it was impeded by a swoosh of black hair. No, rather it was stopped by Zhongli shielding Childe with the dead millelith’s spear. “Are you all right, Childe?” He asked, pushing the ruin guard back.

Still working his way out of a daze, Childe easily accepted Zhongli as his spear-wielding savior. But that couldn’t possibly last. “Zhongli, let me help you. Give me that.” Childe gestured towards the spear.

Zhongli shook his head. “I can’t do that right now,” he said, still parrying the guard’s punches.

Fine. Childe groaned and charged at the machine with his daggers. If he could divert the ruin guard’s attention from Zhongli for a moment, he could borrow the spear. As expected, the ruin guard turned its fists towards Childe. “I need the spear to hit its weak spot on its head.”

Instead of passing the polearm to Childe, Zhongli stepped back several meters—Great—and lobbed it straight at the ruin guard. In that split second, Childe had accepted his damnation: the polearm was lost. But then, the ruin guard faltered and fell.

Zhongli confidently approached and yanked the spear from the ruin guard’s head. He smiled faintly. “That wasn’t so bad.”

Perhaps from the earlier daze or sheer disbelief, an earnest laugh bubbled up in Childe. “Maybe you should hang onto that.”

Zhongli strode briskly along the path, the fear having been lifted from his shoulders. Frankly, even he couldn’t explain the fight earlier. Logically, he should have given the polearm to Childe, who seemingly had experience fighting such robots (which Zhongli believed to be ‘ruin guards’), but his body acted on a different accord, as though he were possessed by some divine spirit. The movement of the throw had felt entirely natural, and Zhongli was curious as to whether or not the feat was replicable. Of course, Childe was his guide, and Zhongli didn’t want to cause him any more trouble. Childe had already taken quite a blow from the ‘ruin guard.’ 

Zhongli actually wondered if Childe was okay following that incident. After the ruin guard was defeated, he had laughed and urged them to recommence the journey, but since then, he had an air of sullenness. Before the fight he had strolled confidently in the lead, wearing a plastered-on smile, but now he was trailing a meter behind Zhongli with a distant look on his face. Perhaps even this vulnerability was another act, but it allowed Zhongli to pinpoint something undeniably real that had been obscured by his grin: there was no light in his eyes. But there was no evil in them either. They reflected only apathy. When Childe had been acting amiable, they had thrown Zhongli off-guard, but now he understood them, and Childe by extension. In an odd way, their indifference made Zhongli feel safer. Such was the character of their transient relationship.

Zhongli felt another tug on his hair. He whipped around and pointed his spear.

Childe threw up his arms, dropping the hair he had balled up, and jumped back. “WOAH.”

Oh, it’s just you. “What are you doing?” Zhongli demanded. 

“I just thought you shouldn’t let your hair trail like that. You know—well, maybe you don’t—most people don’t grow out their hair like this. Have you ever considered cutting it?”

Cutting it? Zhongli wouldn’t entertain such a foolish proposal, but the one suggesting it did spark his interest. If Childe were after his hair, then he must know better than to cut it. It was possible he wasn’t aiming for the hair after all. Zhongli, deciding to wait and see how the rest of the conversation played out, said nothing.

Childe took another step back. “I won’t ask anymore questions, and I’m sorry for touching your hair. But…”

Zhongli tensed up again.

“If you want my opinion, those hilichurls found us because of your long hair, and leaving it as is is an invitation for more creatures to come out and play. Besides, it would be a shame for it to get dirty, no?”

Childe was right. Zhongli had never worried about it because he had spent his time indoors, but by now, his hair had been dragged through many substances. Washing it would be an awful pain later. It would be a good plan to try minimizing the damage. Moreover, Childe seemed to have no personal interest in Zhongli’s hair; in fact, he was rather clueless about it, which Zhongli hoped would continue indefinitely. For now, at least, he probably could be trusted. “Thank you. If you wouldn’t mind helping me…” 

“Not at all.” Childe laughed. “Anything to keep the hilichurls away!”

“You seemed to enjoy that skirmish earlier.”

Childe choked. “Wh-what? You know I could say the same about you, Zhongli. What’s with those spear moves? Have you been training up in that tower?”

“I do exercise every day.”

“With what? A javelin?”

“A javelin? No.”

“Aww come on.” Childe pouted. “You can’t tell me you’re that good on the first try!”

Zhongli shrugged. He didn’t have an adequate explanation either.

“At least humor me!”

Oh, was he making a joke?

“Alright, miracle spearman, let’s keep going.” Childe scooped up Zhongli’s hair from the ground. “We’re almost at our destination.”

     Hongjoong could feel a rush of adrenaline setting over his body like a blanket, palms sweaty and heart racing as he hesitantly steps up the stairs towards Youngji’s apartment where Y/N is currently staying.

     He thinks back to the day when the guys finally got to meet baby Jongho, but then again it was only 2 weeks ago so it wasn't that hard to forget.

     When the guys were busy with the baby, Youngji laid passed out in a bed a couple feet away from Y/N’s bed, a curtain pulled over so that no one could see his heavy body sprawling over the small bed. The shuffling of various people in the room is what caused him to wake and jump through the curtain, startling everyone in the room and causing Jongho to wake from his nap.

     The guys left as soon as the first cry pierced the air, knowing that it was up to Y/N to be able to keep the poor baby calm. Y/N was handed the baby by San, giving her a sweet small smile before exiting along with the rest of Ateez. Hongjoong stayed by the door for a couple of seconds, watching as Y/N rocked Jongho gently, giving her baby a gentle kiss on the forehead that eventually ceased the cries of the newborn baby. After that day, the guys (along with Hongjoong) returned to the hospital with flowers and a huge teddy bear. Ateez's Jongho played with baby Jongho as Y/N thanked the rest of the guys for the gifts.

     Y/n got discharged out the hospital a couple hours after that, Youngji busting in the room and helping Y/N with the hospital bag and carrier that he bought a couple days after Y/N gave birth. The guys walked with her to the car parked in front in the visitors lot, all the flowers and huge teddy bear barely fitting in Youngji's small car.

     As half guys all took turns hugging Y/N goodbye the other half stayed huddled around Mingi as he cuddled the baby goodbye, Jongho and Yunho complaining that he was taking way to much time saying goodbye and that it was their turn with the baby. San and Hongjoong stayed standing a couple of feet away from eachother, the tension that was there back then simmered down to the point where they both could hold a decent conversation for a couple hours, though the rest of the guys knew that it was due to the baby finally being born and all the fighting might cause even more stress on Y/N.

     With one final goodbye, Y/N got in the car with Youngji and together they drove away to Youngji's apartment, were she was going to stay for a couple weeks before eventually leaving to go back to her little village home, Mrs. Park and Kyung Mi wanting to meet the baby as soon as possible. Now pratically two weeks later, Hongjoong was on his way to Youngji's apartment where Y/N texted him to meet.

     He practically jumped off his bed the minute the message popped up on his phone, " Can you meet me in Youngji's apartment later today?" her massage said, very short and straight to the point. Hongjoong texted her a quick yes before throwing on a beige trenchcoat and shoving his feet in a pair of shoes (who he's pretty sure belong to wooyoung due to the platforms). He didn't bother asking to use the car, as the manager banned him from driving for two months after he took the car without permission the day Y/N called for him.

     All throughout his walk to Youngji's apartment, his mind was clouded with various thoughts on why all of the sudden Y/N wanted to talk to him. Did she change her mind about letting me see Jongho? What if she wants to add my last name to Jongho's birth cetificate? Does she want to give me sheduled meetings? It was all Hongjoong could think about, and now that he was directly in front of the apartment building, he wishes he took the long way instead of the short way to get there. Choosing to take the stairs instead of the elevator, he sluggishly climbed up the stairs before finally stopping on the 6th floor, where Youngji's apartment was located.

     Finally walking up to the door, he stood there for a couple seconds contemplating whether he should just turn back around and text her that something came up. Nodding his head, he turns his body to walk away before stopping at the sound of muted singing coming from the door he was about to knock on. Carefully walking up the door again, he slowly presses his ear to the door as best as he can without making any noise and waits. He strains his hearing before finally catching the sound of her sweet melodic voice, her singing traveling all over the inside of the apartment, barely being able to hear it from the outside.

     He thinks that she's just singing to herself like she used to do when they were together, Hongjoong often waking up to sound of Y/N's singing coming from the main part of the apartment on his days off, getting out of the bed and walking to the kitchen were he would bask in her beauty as she made pancakes and eggs for him. Instead he hears her singing with the occasional blabber from who he knows is Jongho.

     That's when he finally notices the song that she is singing, I Have A Dream. It's the song that Youngji's and Y/N's mother used to sing for them when they were just babies. That song holds so much value to Y/N, and the fact that she was continuing a tradition with they're own baby brought tears to his eyes. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, standing there and listening to Y/N's singing for a couple seconds before finally composing himself the best he can.

     He brings his shaky hand up to the dark wood, and gives it a few strong knocks causing the singing from inside to come to a stop. He nervously stands there as he hears the quiet shuffle coming from behind the door, making its way closer to the spot were Hongjoong currently standing with his legs shaking just a little, though he prays it isn't noticable to Y/N once she opens the door.

     A couple seconds later, the old dark wood door creaks open slowly, the sound of the old rusty hinges creaking all througout the hallway where Hongjoong is waiting. Finally the door completely opens, and Hongjoong is glad that he didn't decide to chicken out on her, as Y/N stands in front of him in a pair of gray sweatpants and an oversized shirt, hair thrown up in a messy bun that Jongho is currently trying to tug on.

     " Sorry for my bummy appearence, I've been taking care of Jongho all day that I wasn't able to dress more decent." Y/N sheepishly admits, giving him a small smile as she invites Hongjoong into the apartment. Timidly walking in, he waits for Youngji to pop out from somewhere and jump him, but instead is meet with a quiet space causing him to furrow his eyebrows in confusion. He hears Y/N let out a chuckle from in front of him, whipping his head around and noticing that she was looking at him while he was making a fool out of himself.

     " If you are waiting for Youngji to run out of somewhere, screaming bloody murder don't bother. He decided to meet up with his friends today so its just me and little Jongho." Y/N says, walking into the livingroom and setting Jongho down on in the middle of his little swing. Finally walking up to the giant L shaped coach, she sits herself down and pats the spot next to her, telling Hongjoong to sit down next to her.

     Tentatively walking up to her, he sits himself down a couple spaces away from her, not wanting to make her uncomfortable in any way, shape, or form. They sit there quietly, watching Jongho play around with the mountain of toys the guys and Youngji bought for him the day after he was born. Finally after what seems like forever, Y/N breaks the awkward silence that surrounded them.

     " You must be wondering why is texted you to meet me so suddenly right?" She questions, Hongjoong nodding his head and humming back at her, letting her know that that's exactly what he's thinking. " I thought back to what you told me back then in the hospital room... About me liking San." She says, and Hongjoong's body immediatly tenses up, one of his hands gripping onto the sofa as he mentally prepares himself for Y/N to say that she wants to be with San.

     " I think you were right... At least for the most part." She confesses, causing Hongjoong to look at her in confusion. What does she mean for the most part? Is all Hongjoong can think about as he waits for Y/N to continue. " I thought I liked San.. He was super sweet to me and always made sure I was taking care of myself back when you guys had your one month break, but now that I really think about it and take a minute to myself, I realized that I only wanted to forget you." Y/N says, causing Hongjoong to cough in surprise.

     Before either of them can say anything, Jongho begins to whine for attention squirming around on his swing as he searches the warm embrace of his mother. Instead of Y/N getting up, Hongjoong tells her to stay put, walking up to the swing and taking Jongho out of it just as he’s about to cry. Little Jongho seems to know that Hongjoong is his father as the little baby begins to snuggle into Hongjoong's chest, small hand gripping onto his shirt as he begins to fall asleep.

     Y/N watches them from her spot on the sofa, softly smiling at the sight in front of her. Hongjoong slowly rocking his body back and forth as he pats Jongho's back softly, humming aurora under his breath to help Jongho fall asleep faster. Carefully, Hongjoong walks back towards the sofa and sits down, this time right next to Y/N in case Jongho gets tired with him and instead needs his mother. Together they sit in silence, admiring Jongho as he continues to sleep on Hongjoong's chest, fist still tightly gripping onto his shirt as if his life depended on it.

     Before she could get anymore distracted with the cute scene in front of her, Y/N clears her throat to gain Hongjoong's attention again. " I talked to him about this.. and even though he was heart broken about me not liking him back, he said that he would support me no matter what I chose to do in the end." Y/N says, the mention of San drawing his attention from his little baby currently snoozing on his chest.

     " So why did you text me to meet you?" Hongjoong asks her, face twisted in confusion as to why he's currently sitting in Youngji's couch if Y/N is not going to tell him any grand news.

     " The reason I texted you to meet me today is because... because I want to give us another chance." Y/N says, causing Hongjoong to freeze in shock, his sudden stiffness causing Jongho to whine in discomfort. Leaning towards him, Y/N takes Jongho from Hongjoong's hands to calm him down before he starts to cry. Hongjoong takes a minute to process what she just said, before finally the words hit him like a truck.

      He feels the tears slide down his cheeks like a river, but this time he doesn't clean them away like he would usually. Next he feels the small wiggle of his bottom lip, pursing them so that Y/N isn't able to notice the way his lips are trembling but it all fails, Hongjoong letting out a muffled sob as he slaps his hand over his mouth to conceal it.

     Y/N slowly places one of her hands on top of Hongjoong's, eyes watering as well but trying her hardest to keep herself from crying in fear of waking up Jongho. Hongjoong grips onto her hand like his life denpends on it, bringing it up to his lips and kissing it multiple times, to show her how much this moment means to him but to also keep his sobs to a minimum volume. They sit there for a couple of seconds before Hongjoong is finally able to speak without breaking down. " Are you foreal..?" He says while wiping away his tears, his other hand still gripping onto Y/N hand, he feels a fresh new wave of tears hit his eye when he sees Y/N nod her head.

Y/N feels her heart begin to race, mouth dropping in shock and hands coming up to cover her mouth as she begins to cry silently. The older lady also lets out a small gasp as she's holding Jongho, the small toddler watching his parents in curiosity, the older male just smile to himself as he watches the scene play out in front of him.

     They pull away for air, Y/N turning around and taking Jongho in her arms cuddling him and celebrating with him, Jongho throwing his little chubby arms up in the air even though he doesn't know whats going on. Y/N and the older lady laugh at him as the older male begins to pat Hongjoong in the back, congratulating him on his little speech.

     Hongjoong feels himself getting pulled away, staring at Y/N in confusion before she points to the phone the older lady is holding up as she waits for the little family to get ready. Getting the memo, Hongjoong snakes one of his hands on her waist and brings her as close as he can, the older lady taking millions of picture by the minute.

     He turns his gaze over his fiance, her bright smile and swollen red eyes making her look a millions times breathtaking, Jongho's little toothless smile causing him to let out a chuckle. Y/N looks up at Hongjoong when she feels him let out a laugh, looking at him in confusion. Hongjoong placing his hand on Jongho's little head, he leans down and places a tender kiss on his little forehead, completely forgetting about the older lady currently still taking pictures.

     Turning back to Y/N he gives her a blinding smile before leaning down again and bringing her in for a short kiss, causing the elder lady to squeal out. Pulling away, he laughs out again when he notices the evident blush creeping up on her face.

    " I Love You Mrs. Kim" Hongjoong whispers out, watching as new tears appear on Y/N's eyes.

    " I Love You More Mr. Kim" She whispers back, Hongjoong shaking his head in protest.

     " Not possible." He whispers out, pulling her for another kiss, pouring all his love into the kiss showing her that he truely does love her more than she would ever know.

     And so, as the little family stand under the stars filled night sky, a shooting star passing by as Hongjoong closes his eyes to wish upon that star one last time.

     I have a dream that I would get to marry the woman of my dreams and together forever build a happy family. We'll grow old and eventually move on together, but I lost her due to my selffish ways. Along the way, I learned to value her more than ever and I learned how it feels to finally have a family. I have a dream that many dream of, and I thank all the shooting stars the mine finally came true.

The Best Old Sayings|A Blast from the Past

I started this post some time ago but was unable to complete it due to my schedule. While it was posted, it was not done. However, this week since I’m still on New Year’s break from school, and at home recovering from oral surgery, now seems to be a good time to conclude this piece.

For some reason, I woke up thinking about the post and the fact that I never finished it bothered me. Another thing, I am also thinking about my late mom who was a stickler for tying up loose ends. In fact, she would often mention how much she hated loose ends. She was a proponent of bringing closure or resolution to situations left hanging. So, today I have decided to finish this post, which is inspired by my late mom.

The post is about “old- sayings” of which my mom was a queen. And notice that I did not say “the queen of” because there is no one person in the world who can legitimately claim to have copyright power or ownership of decades-old “old sayings.” Some are culturally specific, even though people of all ethnicities have been known to reference an “old- saying” or two.

My mother seemed to have an applicable “old-saying” for almost every common life-situation that people find themselves in. Most people don’t even bother to examine the origin of old- sayings. Some may even believe they originate from simple-minded folk. However, that assumption is far from accurate. In fact, almost every “old- saying” is rooted in wisdom.

The “old- sayings” that warm my heart reverently are those manifested in the minds and mouths of people who had limited or no access to formal education. These people observed life so keenly that they were able to put many of its inevitable consequences in verbal turned penned sayings. The kicker is some well-educated people who miss the essence of the message because they prohibit their minds from engaging in presumed simplicity.

Apparently, people of the above-mentioned statute don’t know that having an ability to reach the masses requires an ability to deliver valuable information, training, or inspiration using translation methods conducive to people from all walks of life. If the average person must open a dictionary to understand dialog intended for common consumption and situations average people encounter, perhaps the messenger is not as well-educated as he thinks. But, enough about that!

Old- Sayings have a purpose, a valuable meaning; for some access to true clarity is prohibited due to lack of cultural, spiritual, or human awareness. The meaning of many old sayings remains a mystery to haughty individuals.

Sometimes my late mom's “old-sayings” came out so smooth and on point that it seemed like she had studied or memorized several them the night before. And then, there are some that left us scratching our heads, like when we would take too long to finish dinner.

Usually, the procrastination stemmed from the fact that we didn’t like something on the dinner plate. We’d be sitting there “fiddling around” in the plate with the fork when suddenly mom would blurt out, “yawl better hurry up and eat that food!”

One of us, or sometimes all three sisters would utter in concert, “I don’t like whatever it was that was still on the plate.” Mom’s mind-boggling at the time “old-saying” to us was, “I bet you’ll eat it before it eats you?” Okay, then she had us wondering, “how can food eat people?”

It would be years before the three of us sisters figured out what this “old saying” meant. You’re probably thinking why didn’t you just ask your mom what she meant? Well, we didn’t because we couldn’t. Mom’s facial expression always signaled whether it was wise to respond via question.

Long story short! This “old-saying” simply meant that nobody was leaving the table until their plate was empty! Oh, mom didn’t believe in wasting food either, so we knew not to go near the trash can with food left on our plate.

Now, many “old sayings” are ethnically inspired according to where, how and who raised you. That said, I just remembered that my grandmother was no slouch in the “old sayings” field either. She could whip one out in a hot second too. Without any further ado, below you will find 25 of the most common “old sayings” of my time, which spans over six decades.
