thinking about them again,,, i need to see middle school grace & steph so bad. i just HAVE to know

grace gets the quintessential lesbian experience of 'friendship with gay undertones that ruined your life and you still think about'. diligently invited steph to youth group every week while they were 'friends' (she went Once and grace got So Excited and assumed it would happen regularly from then on. it did not. mayor lauter made her go.) i also remember how emotional you are in middle school........poor grace. trying so hard to be friends with someone who doesn't want that. and it just breaks her heart a little bit because she finally found someone who she thought tolerated her......... i think she probably starts manifesting a lot of control issues at this age because she is struggling so hard at socializing. she focuses on school and religion which are both organized and not confusing and have scripts to follow. she sucks up to teachers and studies and follows every rule. she also gets really depressed and autistic but the world is not ready for my grace depression fic (mostly because its entirely me projecting and i have not written any of it)

steph wants people to like her so she can copy their homework LOL. she does really feel bad for grace. but like. in the way that you pity roadkill. poor thing, but i am not going near it. passing thoughts. mostly she just tries to ignore her (as she ignores all bullying perpetuated by her friends). on her own she is probably rebelling for the first time. figuring out what clothes are cool. vaping in the bathrooms. i think like 10 people confessed to liking her on one of those 'hatchetfield middle school crushes' accounts or whatever and that gave her a huge ego boost. by the time they're going to highschool shes sort of established that shes at the top of the order just by virtue of who she hangs around, and she mostly ignores how they treat others. she's comfortable. why make waves?

Creature time! We love Joey as a werewolf, and why wouldn't we? Trying to think of other fun ways to creaturify him. Dragons is also a popular one, given his connection to the Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Dunno if it's because it's Mermay or whatever, been thinking lots about him as a siren. (Which is also funny in the context of kaijou since Kaiba's the one generally seen as more ocean-aligned). Gargoyle!Joey is another fun one that comes to mind! It's basic but it's hard to go wrong when a form gives him wings (and some claws hehe).

omg thak you for this ask all i've been thinking about is jounouchi in many monster forms. sometimes i think it'd be fun to do a cryptid au where joey is some form of mothman (and honestly i think he's got some things in common with the fresno nightcrawler). i did some light googling for inspo and i know it falls under demon!jou but a hellboy au wouldn't be all bad either and obviously making him some kind of yokai would be a lot of fun...

next to gargoyle joey (which i've not thought of but now might have some fun doing) an orc joey would be very hot. i also don't write enough tentacle fic maybe a dark wizard seto trying to summon some eldricht beast accidentally getting the worst deal for power (ooh that's actually good i might write that one down). i feel like plant monsters get a pass a lot of the time too and there's a looooot of fun that could maybe be had with a nymph!jou or maybe mutation gone wrong and now seto has to care for him...

i think the one that might fit joey best tho is biblically accurate angel... plenty of eyes, wings, shining golden light, seto the non-believer getting on his knee to pray.........

LITERALLYYYY the horror loves him the only way it knows how.... violently destructively not knowing the meaning of the word "soft"... it's literally such an interesting dynamic and the show did NOTHING with it not even crumbs of a thing with it. well more for me i suppose

for the song in particular i'm not sure what exactly i was gonna do with it? i had vague plans for a gifset after s3 but clips of them are scarce and not really the vibe i'm looking for (like there's basically no scenes of the horror doing anything but being used in combat. and now i guess being used as sparrow ben's arms/tail)

honestly i'm not quite sure which clips i'd pair up with which lyrics for a gifset or an amv or whatever. we just don't have enough footage of the horror to make it really visually interesting and not repetitive i think. i'd love to try but i'm dreading digging through the episodes for clips it's the worst part of gifmaking. if someone has a ben & the horror compilation ready to go i will give my life for you sldkfjs

but godddd the way she screams the first "what will make you believe me" is so fucking POWERFUL it's crazy. and then the second one is so defeated almost. like "i've tried to tell you as loudly as i can so now i'm asking quietly. what will make you believe me?"

because ben will never believe the horror loves him. how could he? it's literally called the horror. it's scary and it hurts and it kills and covers him in blood since he was just a kid and it's always there, just waiting to be let out. maybe umbrella ben could have gotten on friendlier terms with it if he had grown up and left the academy, but sparrow ben? no way. i'm not sure if he even thinks of it as a separate entity, since i don't recall any mention of the horror in s3 or 4 (correct me if i'm wrong). he probably just thinks of his tentacles as a cool thing he can do and nothing more. just a way to be more powerful than his siblings.

the addition of jennifer is interesting and definitely something to play around with. if i actually make something for it i'd definitely pair the lines "carve your name across three counties/ground it in with bloody hides" with the cleanse on its godzilla rampage. which i mean sucked as a resolution to that plot and ben's whole deal but i've talked about that in another post already.
