Okay, I don't care about how many enemies I make today, but I need to vent because the echo chamber has been getting annoying at this point.

I hate the part of the fandom that spends half of their free time hating a certain character in the fanbase (you all know who I'm talking about because they never shut up about it). This game has so many great things to talk about and yet they will rather complain about people being passionate about a character as if it's a problem.

At least say it as it is "I can't handle people liking a fictional I dislike" because that's the real problem here, it's not "boohoo think about the woooomeeen wat abt de womeeen": you love those female characters so much that you only use them when it's convenient to your point about how, apparently, liking this white male character (in a game where, let's not forget, you play as a white male character) is problematic because we're all mysoginistic for liking a dude instead of women. And each time there is always someone that goes "man you're so valid". And yet none of them ever makes anything with the women in it. How many posts do we get about the female characters each week? Like, zero or two or three at most? And they're almost never from those users btw. And you know how many X hate post we get each week? Surely more than the former. It's been weeks since this trend started and now I can safely say that these people just want to complain, they're not actually interested in having more discussions about the other characters. They just use the argument to make their complaints seem more valid than a child throwing a tantrum over people liking purple more than green.

And it has gotten to the point where people are getting harassed for liking a fictional character. It's ridiculous. "I hate y'all", "ya stan ar so toxic" and anonymous insults in the messages? Like, can you people get a grip on reality and stop hating on other people for liking a character you don't? Can't you really see how silly this is? Like wow, you guys are real heroes for trying to make people feel bad about liking a fictional character. I've seen this shit on other fanbases, but I don't want to see it associated to Disco freaking Elysium. It's too Disco for this shit.

I just wanted to point out how important saying "people" instead of "women" when talking about periods really is with a recent personal example:

there's this one ad for Pantys (a brazilian period underwear brand) that youtube keeps showing me and it looks so comfortable and I'd love to buy one, but then the voice over is basically WOMEN PRODUCTS FOR WOMEN OUR WOMEN WE LOVE WOMEN WOMEN SHOULD BE COMFORTABLE IN THEIR PERIODS BUT ONLY FOR WOMEN WOMEEEN!!! and it makes me feel like SHIT as a non-binary person
