Takaaki spends time with Chihiro and he's basically a mini Taichi which he finds adorable. His soon-to-be step-son is just like his dad, though, he seems to have more courage and will-power than his dad. Not that Taichi isn't courageous, but Chihiro seems more stronger than that.

Takaaki respects that boy with everything he's got. He wants to protect him.

Meanwhile, Taichi spends time with Kiyotaka. Just like with Chihiro, Taka is exactly like Takaaki. But brighter, less destroyed like Takaaki. Yet still with his issues. They're so the same. Taichi holds him dearly in his mind.

He wants to help him. He wants to be the best step-dad to him. Even if he doesn't see himself as great, he still wants to help.

They both realize that they want to be a family together. To know the kids better. To actually be the parents they both needed.
