will solace and nico di angelo have more in common than the fandom (and oftentimes canon itself, no hate to rick) wants to admit. both were disabled lgbtq kids raised in conservative and oppressive settings, and were forced into a role they never truly wanted to be in (will was a healer probably before he was ten, nico is pretty obviously the kid that people fear and don’t want to get near to). they were the younger sibling mostly raised by an older sibling who they lost because of kronos’ army. both are in a way pushed aside and excluded from the camp, kind of like black sheep. nico for obvious reasons, but will couldn’t fight and couldn’t even participate in camp events like capture the flag because he had to be resdy in case of an injury. they both lost their childhoods because of their powers and abilities. they’re their fathers’ favorites. naomi reminds nico too much of maria, even if the memories are hazy and not quite there. they have a younger sister (kayla, hazel) they sort of adopt and look after like their older siblings once looked after them. they overwork themselves to the point of exhaustion. they would sacrifice themselves for those rhey love and did. multiple times. they’re passionate and dedicated and determined. their love for others is rare but it’s beautiful.

the reason nico and will work so well together is not because they’e opposites, it’s because they are so similar. and you know what? in the end their similitudes (no idea if that’s an actual word in english but fuck it, we ball) make their relationship so much stronger because rhey know how the other feels. they know what it’s like. both of their situations and traumas are so unique that they each thought no one would ever understand. but we all know how that ended. nico and will are soulmates and they invented love actually. they’re the tide, they push and pull and they contrast but their similarities drown their differences. they get each other in ways no one else ever has or will and that’s something so fucking rare and so lovely
