Boygenius Rant Pt. 2 :)
You can't tell me that moon song and voyager aren't like corresponding to eachother. They literally are because "If I could give you the moon , I would give you the moon" and "You took it from me, but I would've given it to you"
Plus, Voyager was originally supposed to be on the punisher album, and Voyager is a spaceship, and the moon is in space, so they are both spacey, so why would it not be related.
Like those sentences kill me, and so does the entirety of each song. Voyager is a song I could listen to for weeks, and I'd never get bored of it because it's so peaceful.
I can't stop listening to it. Like no one ever talks about how good it is. Like the instrumentals, the backing vocals, the humming at the beginning, the singing, rhythm, rhyming, lyrics, imagery, how this song makes me feel safe and want to cry in a good way. This song is everything. It's definitely gonna be my top 3 probably top 1 spotify wrapped song. It helps me sleep, focus, distract me, and so much more. Like wdym this isn't one of their most popular songs? I'm glad it's not, though, because when you hear just one part of a great song over and over again on tiktok it makes you sick of it. I don't think that would happen even if it became viral because it's to good to be sick of it. I'm so glad this was release I love this so much.
Moon song is great too, but I prefer Voyager more than Moon Song because idk. Like I like the if I could give you the moon I would give you the moon part and some more other parts and instrumentals. But voyager Is everything to me. Like I love it I love listening it for days on end then finding other songs to enjoy then go back to listening to it again.
If you've never listened to voyager before, you have to. It might not be good to you but it could change everything and yeah.
I ALSO LOVE WE'RE IN LOVE BECAUSE ITS ALSO CALMING AND AHHHH. Like that's awesome I love it. Haven't listened to it as much though cuz I was stuck on voyager but when I listened to it AHHHHHHHH
Like the instrumentals the vocals don't get me started on Lucy's vocals, they are perfect. It sounds so comforting. The lyrics I love the lyrics and the flow and the everything. I love the perfect rhythm and rhyming. AND LIKE THE LINE THAT GOES "And if you don't remember , I will remind you of the hummingbirds" then "you know the ones" with "I know the ones in the background" like that is perfect and it kills me everytime. AND THE "I could go on and on and on, and I will go on and on and on until it all comes back." Like, wdym you wrote that perfectly, intrumentally perfect, vocally perfect, everything perfect. I don't know how I can listen to a good amount of their songs without getting bored.
REVOLUTION 0 IS AHHHHHHHH LIKE ITS PEACEFUL TOO WITH THE HUMMING AT THE BEGINIGN AND THE LYRIC FLOW AND THE LYRICS "I don't wanna die, that's a lie, but I'm afraid to get sick, I don't know what that is" AHHHHHHHH Like real. "If it isn't love then what the fuck is it?" REAL REAL REAL. Boygenius is giving qpr you can't change my mind. Like wdym they wrote songs for eachother like they love eachother so much and like qpr <3. Idk that's just my thoughts cuz boygenius isn't friends or dating they are a secret third thing qpr. But like idk. Maybe it's just the aroace in me or something just my thoughts or whatever. Anywho I got off track
LEONARD COHEN IS ALSO AWESOME, THE BEAT IS FASTER AND IT MAKES ME AHHH. THE FLOW OF THE WORDS THE WORDS THEMSELF AHHHHH. THANK YOU SO MUCH
LIKE THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT SONG TYPES OR WHATEVER BUT LIKE THEY ARE ALL PERFECTION. I LOVE BOYGENIUS SO MUCH.
LIKE WDYM THESE FOUR SONGS ARE TOWARDS THE BOTTOM
Uhh pt 1 I made forever ago so don't bother looking for it :D

Would you mind telling me about Lucy Dacus please? I donât know much about them :))
yes!!! of course, i'd be happy to!! :D
so shes a singer, songwriter and guitarist and just super talented all round, her vocals are amazing, ahh shes in a band called boygenius which i rambled told you about remember, she has three great solo albums(my personal favourite probably being Home Video), her music videos are all so mesmerising (also if you catch me crying at the hot n heavy mv... no you didnt)(also technically a bg one but TRUE BLUE MV IS AGHHHHH!!!! i love it sm) and all the visuals of them are all so amazing and the songs are all such incredible storytelling and then she makes these mv's which just put even more depth and story into them and yeah its so incredible, shes also sapphic and yearns for women in a painfully relatable way, but also explores that in her music creating songs that just reflect sapphic experiences so well, shes also just yk the most beautiful woman ever
#yeah so im totally not gay for her#lmao#no but fr shes so cool and i love her music so much and this is the shortened down version lol#also#whats this??? sam is clearing out their inbox?? possibly. crazy stuff folks#ANYWAY THANK YOU SM MY LOVE <333#ilyyyy#my wife <3#coulson simp in the trenches#lucy dacus#my beloved#boygenius#home video

âhot & heavyâ â leah williamson x reader
leah williamson x fem!reader
based on hot & heavy by lucy dacus !
italics are flashbacks
not proofread and idk if makes sense
so. many. words. (7.8k)
â
being back here makes me hot in the face
hot blood in my pulsing veins
england, you know, is home.
you associate that word with the country so often that it always surprises you that the dictionary definition of home isn't simply the polaroid of your house in milton keynes that you took when you were 8.
england is home even when you leave, and it's home when you come back after years away.
being back in england â specifically in milton keynes â makes your cheeks warm, and you're not sure whether it's the uncharacteristically hot sun or something deeper in the pit of your stomach that makes you all too aware of the hot blood in your pulsing veins.
heavy memories weighing on my brain
hot and heavy in the basement of your parents' place
your memories of milton keynes are varied â some are from your childhood, where you spent hours wishing on dandelions, kicking a ball around the neighbouring streets, and chasing the ice-cream van with a 50p coin you found in the gutter in the hopes of a screwball or a mr. whippy.
some memories are from your teenage years, where the bus ride to school was more entertaining than any parties your friends dragged you to in short dresses and the promise of a kiss from the good looking lad in the year above, no matter how much you insisted that you would much rather go to the cinema with your mates (and sneakily hold hands with your best friend).
few memories are from your adult years, when you decided to travel to neighbouring cities and spent hours exploring the intricacies of museum architecture and flirting to get free drinks in the new pub that opened around the corner from your secondary school.
every memory, though, includes her.
leah williamson â your childhood best friend, teenage love, and the reason why being back home feels both freeing and suffocating at the same time.
you used to be so sweet
leah used to pick flowers.
it was something that, more often than not, ended with you both being chased down the street by an angry neighbour who had fists in the air yelling that they were already on the phone to your mums and you would both be in for it when you got home.
it was always worth it, though, when after running so fast for so long you swear your legs could fall off, leah presents you with a fistful of whatever flowers were growing in that particular garden with some blades of grass and the roots still attached to the muddy bouquet. there would always be a dandelion, too, and the blonde girl would insist you make a wish just so she could pester you for hours after about what you had wished for.
and even when your mum does inevitably tell you off after the streetlights had come on and signalled your time to retreat home, the crumpled flowers you hold tight in your grasp remind you that tomorrow you'll do it all again, and the collection of wilted flowers on your windowsill will surely grow once more.
when she sees you again for the first time in almost 5 years, leah refrains from breaking into the nearest garden to steal you a flower and instead settles for a quick hug that feels more like home than any house she's ever lived in.
now you're a firecracker on a crowded street
couldn't look away even if i wanted
itâs merely a coincidence, you tell yourself, that your trip back home coincides with leahâs 26th birthday.
she invites you to a small get-together sheâs having in london, and you try not to think about all the birthday traditions that have been broken in the years apart from your ex-best-friend. gone are the sleepovers you held the night before, gone are the parties your families had in your back-gardens, and gone are the shared slices of your favourite cakes.
get-togethers in hidden bars in london are new to you, but they seem familiar to leah and those she considers most important to her.
meeting up with her teammates and friends is a bittersweet experience, and you try not to think about how the leah theyâre celebrating is wildly different to the leah youïżœïżœre celebrating.
you look at the blonde and see the girl you once considered your better half, your extra limb, and they simply see the woman she is today.
leahâs the same as she always was, you notice from your seat at the bar, as she attracts the attention from the entire room without even trying. sheâs still the same leah that was a thousand times more popular than you, and sheâs still the same leah that never seemed to notice the hold she had on others.
you watch the way her eyes light up when sheâs had a drink, and it takes you back to bonfire night when you were 7. when leah first held a sparkler on your crowded street, and her immediate thought was to try and cast a spell on you, giggling like a madman when you throw yourself to the floor like you had been struck.
you think the sparkle in her eyes is still there, and you pretend not to notice the way it brightens when she catches sight of you watching her. you couldnât look away even if you wanted, and it takes a tap to your shoulder to snap you out of your leah-induced haze.
âkei!â you throw your arms around the ginger in a warm hug, and she responds back eagerly.
âhi, y/n/n, itâs so good to see you again.â keira smiles, squeezing your shoulders gently.
âitâs been a while.â you agree, letting her take the seat next to you.
you find yourself sticking with keira and other familiar faces, such alex and georgia, for a lot of the night â getting tipsy as you reminisce on shared memories and anecdotes about a certain blonde who was drunkenly serenading the entire bar.
at one point, itâs just you and keira, both equally drunk as you laugh about that time leah fell off a swing and was convinced that a ghost had pushed her.
âshe was mad â still is, i think.â keira grins, glancing over to leah as she dances around the room.
âitâs a wonder i survived so long.â you agree, a smile on your flushed cheeks.
âi always thought you were it for each other, you know.â keira muses quietly, glancing between you and leah across the room.
âme too.â you take a large gulp of whatever drink georgia had forced into your hand 5 minutes prior.
âi still do.â you glance up at her in confusion, but keiraâs slightly slurred words continue, âi know iâm drunk, and i know you are too, but i really think you shouldn't give up on her. she never gave up on you, not really.â at your silence, keira backtracks slightly, wincing at her own drunken word-vomit. "i'm sorry, i shouldn't have- i know you're happy in spain now, i didn't mean to bring up old-"
"iâm moving back to london soon.â
and with that, you make your way to the bar to order another drink, eyes drifting around the room and automatically landing on the woman of the hour, who takes that as her cue to stumble over for the first time that night.
âdandelion! i didnât think you were coming!â she shouts over the song that you know was once her favourite, wrapping her arm over your shoulder and squeezing you close in a once-familiar embrace.
âneither did i.â you admit quietly, never one to be able to lie to her.
âiâm glad you did, now we can sing our song!â
âno karaoke-â
âyes karaoke!â
and like no time had passed at all since you were leah and y/n, the blonde leads you to the small stage with a firm hand.
âone song, and then iâm sitting back down.â you say firmly, and leah simply grins, pushing a piece of hair out of your face as gently as she can with her clumsy hands.
âthatâs my shy girl.â she coos as she pinches your cheek teasingly, and you simply roll your eyes. "you never were one for the stage, were you, dandelion?"
try to walk away but i come back to the start
led me to the floor even though i'm not a dancer
the night before your year 11 prom was spent in leah's bed â which was practically yours too with how much time you spent there growing up â laying side by side and staring at the ceiling as if the answer to why your cheeks were so warm was written above the bed.
"what if someone asks me to dance?" it's the first question you ask that betrays how nervous you really are for the upcoming event, and leah scoffs in response.
"tell them to shove off because you've already got a dance partner." the answer is so leah that you have to take a moment to roll your eyes, and because she apparently has eyes on the side of her head, she kicks you for it.
"i don't suppose that dance partner is you, is it?" you tease lightly, bumping your shoulder with hers and watching expectantly for her rebuttal.
"who else would it be?" she turns to look at you, blue eyes searching your face for the answer she knows she'll never get.
because the answer is nobody. there's not a single other person on planet earth you would trust to dance with you, and since there aren't any martians visiting any time soon, you'll stick with leah.
and stick with leah you do.
you're attached to her side when your mums take as many pictures as their cameras can physically hold, leah's hand settled on your waist and your head leaned against her shoulder as you stand outside your house. you pretend the blush on your cheeks is from the never-ending compliments from your families and the warm sun, and not the way that your best friend squeezes your hip gently to remind you pay attention to the cameras and not her.
you remain within arm's length of leah the entire night except for the 2 minutes that she disappeared to fetch you a drink that she knew you would need in the warm room, and even then she had tried to take you with her.
your interlocked pinky fingers keep you close as you make your way around the room, mindlessly chatting to your classmates.
you didnât go near the dance floor, though, no matter how often leah tried to drag to towards it. you had made your opinions on dancing very clear and leah swore if that she heard the words âiâd rather dieâ come out of your mouth again then sheâd kill you herself.
instead, the pair of you mingle with all of your friends and poke fun at the teachersâ outfits as they supervise the room with eagle eyes, though the blonde never lets up in her begging for a dance.
âcome on, dandelion, just dance with me? please?â the pout on leahâs face is one youâve seen many times in your decade of friendship, and not once have you ever had the heart to deny it.
âlee,â you whine, feeling your resolve crumble further when she steps closer. âiâm not a dancer. i donât dance.â
âi do! iâll show you how to do it.â she looks down at you with her most pleading expression, âplease?â
âiâll look-â
âyou wonât look stupid, and donât even think about suggesting it again.â she squeezes your pinky gently with her own, and you know youâre gone. âif anyone says anything, iâll kick âem right in the face with these stupid heels â and thatâs a promise!â you bite your lip hesitantly with a smile and leah presses further, âcome on, y/n/n, please? donât make me beg in-front of everyone here.â
ââŠfine. one dance.â
âthatâs all i need, my girl.â
with leahâs hand in your own, you donât feel nearly as nervous as you wouldâve normally, and she leads you to the floor where you spend the rest of the night.
you find that you donât hate dancing so much when leahâs your partner.
ask me all the questions that your parents wouldn't answer
"did you know that olivia in your geography class has two mums?â
itâs a tuesday night and leahâs in your bed. youâre 15 and thereâs not much to do on a school night other than talk about whatever comes to mind. leahâs the first, tonight, and you wonder if sheâll finally let slip the reason sheâs been deep in thought all day.
âreally? sheâs never mentioned it before.â you shrug, unsure of where your best friend is going with the conversation. âi guess she wouldnât have a reason to, would she?â
leah bites her lip, clearly deep in thought. you have half a mind to tell her not to think so hard or her head will hurt, but you refrain.
âhey, whatâs up?â you poke her cheek gently, hoping to snap her out of whatever headspace she was in. âyou a homophobe or something? because iâll have you know my cousinâs gay and-â
âiâm not a homophobe, you dick!â leah shoves you with a huff, and you grin at your success. âiâm just curious!â
âbi-curious or just curious?â you tilt your head, knowing it would only annoy her further.
âdandelion, iâm getting annoyed here.â she warns, glaring at you as best as she can with her 16-year-old baby face. âiâm just-â she sighs, flopping back down on your bed. âdo you think itâsâŠokay?â
âfor?â you ask, laying down beside her.
âfor two girls toâŠyâknow, have a baby? get married?â
âi donât see why it wouldnât be okay?â
âi donât see why either, butâŠâ leah glares up at the ceiling. âwhen you think of getting married, what do you think of?â
you blink at the slight change of subject, but conversations with your best friend often go from topic to topic, so you shrug and answer honestly.
âcake- ow, leah! donât hit me!â
âbe serious for once!â
âiâm trying!â you huff, rubbing your shoulder from where she had so kindly elbowed you. âokay, when i think of getting married i thinkâŠa white dress, and some nice flowers. i think about songs iâd like to have play too. and cake.â
âwhat about who youâre marrying?â
âi donât know, i never think of that.â you shrug, wondering what leah was getting at.
âwell isla in our form class is convinced sheâs going to marry jack, and she says she imagines it all the time. do you?â
âdo i imagine marrying jack? god, no.â you snort at the idea. âhe picks his nose still, did you know that?â
ây/n! be serious!â leah groans.
âstop beating around the bush and ask me what you really want to ask, then!â you huff, kicking her shin.
thereâs silence for a moment, and you risk a glance towards the blonde.
sheâs already looking at you â blue eyes piercing yours. ââŠdo you ever think of marrying a girl?â
you roll over to your side and look back at her, eyes roaming over her freckled face that seemed awfully troubled for a simple tuesday night.
you shrug, âi dreamt i married lucy liu once, but i think that was because i fell asleep watching charlieâs angels.â
âwas itâŠdid it feel weird?â she furrows her brows the way she always does, and you reach out and press your thumb between them to remind her to stop.
âno, it was nice until she went all bridezilla on my dad. i canât remember why, though. think he said her dress was ugly or something.â you remove your hand from leahâs face, but it doesnât go far because the blonde reaches up and intertwines your pinkies and lays your hands on the pillow between your faces.
âiâd go bridezilla on him too. just for fun, though.â leah nods thoughtfully.
âand thatâs why i wouldnât marry you.â you roll your eyes, squeezing her finger.
âno? not even if i proposed with a million dandelions?â she asks with a smug smile, and you grin as she finally seems to relax.
âhmmâŠif you did that and got me a pretty ring, i wouldnât say no.â you nod.
âthe haribo ones arenât good enough for you anymore?â she smiles, her eyes flickering between your own and your lips.
âdiamonds are a girlâs best friend, lee. you gotta know that if youâre ever gonna propose to someone.â you poke her nose gently with your spare hand, and she grabs it with a gentle squeeze.
âiâll keep it in mind.â
how could i deny a diamond in the rough?
it was awfully cliché, and you're aware of that, but leah had insisted that it was a rite of passage to play dancing queen on your 17th birthday, and so you allow the blonde to twirl you to her heart's content as the lyrics blare through your house. she sings along as she always does, never one to shy away from showing her passion for music and love for singing.
your families are scattered around the house and the back garden â leahâs grandmother playing scrabble with your aunt at the kitchen table, jacob kicking a football outside with your cousins, and both yourâs and leahâs mums gossiping over a glass of wine while your dads manned the barbecue on the deck. to anyone else, this wouldnât be considered a very good 17th birthday celebration, but to you it was perfect.
your other friends donât understand that this is how youâd rather spend your birthday over getting drunk in a field (though, you werenât opposed to that every now and then), and so itâs only leah who you spend the evening with, singing, dancing, and drinking as much as your families allow.
when itâs time to blow out your candles, itâs leah who stands beside you with a soft smile as your families sing the song you hate so much. itâs leah who presses a kiss to your cheek and tells you to close your eyes and make wish.
âi wish it could always be like this.â
you open your eyes as watch as the smoke rises to ceiling, blushing as everyone cheers and claps, and giggling when jacob begs for the cake to be cut already.
âwhat did you wish for?â leah asks quietly, eyes solely on you as you watch your dad carry the cake over to the counter.
âyouâve asked me that almost everyday since we were 6, lee.â you chuckle, leaning into the arm she has around your waist. âand iâve never once told you.â
âi was hoping today would be different.â she pouts dramatically, âbut, alas, my dandelion keeps her secrets.â the hand she places over her heart makes you roll your eyes fondly, and leah simply continues her theatrics for as long as she can before getting distracted with a slice of cake â typical.
you canât help but feel like today is different, though. maybe itâs just because your head feels a little fuzzy from the beers your dad had allowed you to have, or maybe itâs because leahâs arm had been wrapped around your waist all day and you wonder how youâll cope if she never does it again. either way, thereâs something in the air that evening, and you feel it close in on you when leah shoves a piece of cake in your face, smearing icing across your cheeks with a laugh so loud, you wonder if youâll go deaf.
you freeze in shock when it happens, and even though you can see everyone in the room cracking up, itâs leahâs laugh that captures your attention, and itâs her smile that you want to shove a piece of cake into.
so you do.
war is declared that night, and despite your mumâs protests about getting food everywhere, you and leah find yourselves in a cake fight that resembles the great snowball war of â05.
your cousins and jacob join in, like all children do, and you can hear your dad placing bets on whoâll be the first to tap out, but your attention is solely on your best friend and how stupidly beautiful she looks when she laughs. you donât know anyone in the world who could pull off a cake-smeared face so well, but leah seems to do it in a way that has your heart beating faster with more than just adrenaline as you run around the kitchen with cake in your fists.
you know youâll regret this all when you have to clean up later, and you know your hair will never forgive you for the amount of chocolate in it, but in those moments where cake is flying across the kitchen and out the back door, you know youâll be okay.
eventually, your mum puts a stop to it all and orders your dad to hose you all off in the garden (something he takes sadistic pleasure in as you all scream and run away from the ice-cold water, leah even using your dog as a shield while you used her), and your aunt ends up taking your cousins home before they could catch a cold.
people start to leave slowly, giving you one last birthday wish and a kiss to the head, until finally itâs just you, leah, and your parents.
your mum sends you both upstairs with a reminder not to stay up too late gossiping like always, and you and leah simply share a look before running up the stairs and attempting to push one another down them.
after you take turns showering and changing into some pyjamas, you both settle on your bed with the lord of the rings trilogy lined up for the 4th time that month, just because it was leahâs favourite.
âthatâs you.â you point to the screen where gollum currently is, like you always do, and leah smacks a pillow down on your face, like she always does. âthat never gets old.â you grin.
âit never gets funny.â the blonde huffs, stealing popcorn out of your hand instead from the bowl like a civilised person. âone day that mouth of yours will get you in trouble, dandelion.â
âis that a threat?â
âitâs a promise.â she nudges your shoulder with her own. âand iâll have you know i look nothing like gollum; iâm far more beautiful.â
âthatâs not a very nice thing to say about your twin, leah.â you shake your head disapprovingly, and leah scoffs.
âthatâs it!â and before you can even begin to comprehend whatâs happening, leahâs attacking you.
the pillow that was once behind her head is now in her hands as she swings it down on your face, and you barely have time to react before it comes down again. leahâs laugh is loud as you squeal, trying to escape her wrath to no avail.
âi surrender!â you finally shout after far too long, and leah grins triumphantly from her place above you.
your breathing is heavy, and your cheeks are warm, but leahâs eyes are comforting. they donât hold your gaze like usual, and instead they glance down to your parted lips with an unrecognisable expression.
âyou surrender?â she double checks, holding the pillow threateningly.
you nod, trying to catching your breath.
âand you wonât say anything else about my appearance?â
âmy lips are sealed.â you nod, watching as leah drops the pillow
âi canât think of anything clever to say about your mouth,â she says, brushing some of your hair out of your face gently, âi justâŠâ
you hold your breath as leah leans in close, lips brushing against yours, tentatively, for the first time.
you think about the first time leah ever kissed you when you were 6. when you had just learned how to ride your bike and in your excitement to show your best friend, you stopped looking where you were going. you had hit the curb and flown over the handlebars and onto the pavement. it was leah who pulled you up to your feet, and it was her who pressed a magic kiss to your grazed palm to stop your tears.
you remember thinking it was best magic kiss you had ever gotten, because it worked in taking away like the pain like all magic kisses too.
now, though, you know it pales in comparison to this.
you donât think anything could ever live up to feeling of leahâs soft lips on yours, and her gentle hold on your jaw. nothing will ever compare to the way she slowly pulls away, smiles at you, and then pulls you back in for another.
you led me in your world until you had enough
the day after your kiss with leah, you find that sheâs nowhere to be found.
you donât wake up to leahâs arms wrapped around you like you usually do after a sleepover, and a quick look around your house tells you that leahâs not downstairs critiquing your mumâs pancakes like usual either. your dog sits at the front door whining in the way he only does when he misses your best friend, and you wonder why leah left so early and where she could have possibly gone.
you find that as the day goes on, your worry for leah increases. she hasn't responded to â or even read â the numerous texts you've sent, and even jacob had simply shrugged his shoulders when you asked where she could be.
you're pretty much moments away from reporting her as missing when you hear her familiar laugh in the park near your house. you wonder if you've gone crazy enough to start hearing things, but once glance out your bedroom window confirms that leah is, in fact, at the park. she's kicking a ball around with some girls you recognise as her friends from football, and you wonder why she hasn't invited you like she normally does.
despite every cell and fibre in your body telling you to close your window and pretend you never saw her, you find yourself clipping the lead onto your dog's collar and walking him across the road like you had a reason to be there apart from confronting your stubborn best friend on why she had seemingly disappeared all day.
leah doesnât notice you â if she does, she ignores you â as you approach, your dog tugging the lead with the insane strength that only appears whenever he sees leah.
âhey, y/n!â one of leahâs friends waves, and thatâs when the blonde finally looks your way.
leah reluctantly kicks the ball away, sending her friends chasing after it, and turns to you with an air of coldness that you had never been on the receiving end of before.
âhavenât see you all day,â you remark casually, ignoring the way she rolls her eyes dismissively. âis everything okay?â
âyeah, fine.â leah shrugs, patting your dogâs head lightly as he happily licks her hand.
âoh.â youâre not really sure what to say after that. you watch her for a moment, taking notice of the way she avoids your gaze. âdid you want to talk about-â
âlook, iâm really sorry but my coach says i donât need any distractions. can you leave me alone?â
with that, your best friend (?) walks away, leaving you standing there in confusion.
âcoach says i donât need distractions.â
you wonder if leah sees you as a distraction, or simply just the kiss. you hope itâs neither, but the way she seems to avoid you like the plague for weeks after your conversation tells you itâs probably both. she spends all her time with football, and even in school she seems to find a way to distance herself.
and so you see less of your best friend as her passion for football grows, and you feel selfish when you find yourself missing her.
you donât understand why you canât just be happy for her, but a part of you deep down knows that itâs because you donât want her to be happy without you.
she is, though. and that hurts more than anything. leah seems perfectly fine to spend all her time with her football friends, and you find that your late night talks have been replaced with an occasional text asking about homework that never leads to anything more than a 1 minute conversation.
leah doesnât call anymore, and so you donât either. she doesnât knock on your door and beg you to come out, so you take the long way around town to avoid her house.
you still attend her matches â because no matter how upset you are at her, sheâs still your best friend and youâd always support her â but she doesnât run to you at the end of the games anymore, instead she sticks close to her teammates and barely glances in your direction.
drifting away from leah is a slow process, and yet you feel completely blindsided because one minute she was your leah, and the next it felt like you barely knew her at all.
you knew that i wanted you to bend the rules
how did i believe i had a hold on you?
losing leah feels like losing a part of yourself, and you hate that itâs because, technically, you are.
you had always been leah and y/n.
when one of you wasnât in school, teachers would ask the other where your other half was. when your mum made dinner every evening, there was always enough for another plate because she knew that your best friend would be there whether she was invited or not. when leahâs mum booked that family holiday to spain in 2008, there was an extra ticket with your name on it because she would never dream of separating leah from her y/n. you would never find one without the other, and thatâs the way it always had been.
leah and y/n.
you donât know how to just be y/n.
you find yourself looking to your side to tell her a funny thought that popped in your head, only to be met with nothing because leahâs not around anymore.
your parents donât understand when you tell them youâve simply grown apart, and neither do you, because âgrowing apartâ wasnât in the cards for leah and y/n.
leah and y/n were supposed to stay together until the very end, even when the street lights turned off. leah and y/n were meant to stand by each otherâs side, even when you were being lectured for stealing dandelions from mr. millerâs garden. leah and y/n were forever and always, like you had promised when you were 7.
but youâre not 7 anymore, and leah hadnât given you a dandelion in so long, you wonder if you still know how to make a wish.
you were stupid to think you were ever important to leah. how did you believe you had a hold on her?
you were always stronger than people suspected
underestimated and overprotected
you knew that leah joining the senior squad for arsenal was inevitable â she was an amazing player with passion for the game and a love for arsenal that could rival even the biggest gooners.
it doesnât surprise you at all to hear through the grapevine about leahâs permanent move to london, but you think that fate isnât on your side when you find out she lives close to your new london flat that you share with your friends from university.
youâre just grateful that your busy school schedule and leahâs packed football life means no accidental meetings in the big city.
except it does. because of course it does.
you think maybe it's because your body had been accustomed to being near leah your entire life that it seeks her out even when you know it shouldn't. you think that must be why you always seem to bump into her no matter where you go.
it certainly doesn't help that you can't resist attending her matches too. call it routine, or simply call it love, but you don't think there's a single world where you wouldn't support the girl you once considered your best friend. watching leah play football had been a staple in your life for as long as you can remember, and there had been too much change in your life for you to ever consider giving this comfort up.
you pretend you donât notice the way her eyes always seem to find your figure in the mostly-empty stands, and you always make sure to wear a jacket over your williamson jersey just so she doesnât know that sheâs the only reason youâre still there when everyone else goes home.
after a particularly good match, a few months into the season, leah finally picks up the courage to approach you. it had been months of longing stares from the pitch, showing off whenever she was near your section, and trying to catch your eye at the end of a match, and leah was now finally ready to speak to you.
properly. for the first time since she decided to be a coward almost a year ago and tell you you were a distraction instead of saying the truth.
the truth was that she loved you.
leah had loved you for as long as she could remember, and she was sure that sheâd love you for the rest of her life.
the only thing to do now was ensure that youâd actually be in her life, so she could love you up close again.
itâs after a pretty intense match that leah finally had enough to confidence to approach you (after a few words of encouragement from alex, of course). you were sat in the stands, talking animatedly with another girl about the game.
leah swallows the brief feeling of jealousy, and walks towards your seat. you look up almost immediately, like you can sense her, and your expression doesnât change. you pull your jacket tighter over your body, and leah catches sight of the red jersey beneath.
she hopes itâs her last name across your back.
âbig fan?â leah nods towards your jersey as she leans over the barriers slightly, her voice surprisingly not giving away the nerves she was feeling at being face-to-face with you again after so long.
âoh, absolutely,â you agree, your voice dripping with the sarcasm that she knows too well, âi just love vicky losada.â
leah scoffs, âyouâre wearing #6, really? let me see.â she gestures for you to take your jacket off, and you shake your head.
â6 my favourite number.â you shrug.
â14 is better.â she taps the #14 on her shorts pointedly.
âever so humble, williamson.â
âyou know me well, dandelion.â the nickname falls from her lips as easily as it used to, as if no time had passed at all since the last time she said it.
like you were still leah and y/n.
she seems to think so too, because leah grabs her own jersey and pulls it over her head. âhere,â she says, holding it out to you, âitâs not a #6, but one day it will be. for you.â
you hesitantly take the warm jersey, âiâll hold you to that.â
âwait, let me sign it.â leah grabs a sharpie that someone had left in the seat beside you and you hold the jersey out for her, trying to keep your eyes solely on her hands and not anywhere else. âthere.â
âhow much do you think this would go for on ebay?â you ask, folding the jersey and tucking it under your arm.
ânot funny.â leah frowns, the familiar crease forming between her eyebrows. âyou have to keep that.â
âweâll see.â you grin, waving goodbye as you step back.
âsee you next week.â leah waves, watching you go.
itâs only when you get home do you realise what sheâs written on the jersey.
âcall me?â with her phone number attached.
your roommate wonders what has you smiling so widely for the rest of the evening.
â
things with leah don't go back to how they were â you doubt they ever will â but the new normal, you find, isn't so bad either. it definitely helped that leah had offered a sincere apology for what she had said and how she had been acting with a collection of your favourite snacks, your favourite movie, and a dandelion she had insisted you use to make a wish about her embarassing herself at her next match â which she seemed to think she deserved for how she had treated you.
you don't bother telling her that when you close your eyes and blow on the flower, you only wish for the best for her, like you always have.
you want the best for leah, and a part of you deep down knows that you donât fit into that idea anymore.
you cherish the time you spend with your once-best friend, and you let her cart you around london with her teammates for months before you break the news that youâre leaving for good.
when i went away it was the only option
couldn't trust myself to proceed with caution
the job offer comes at the perfect time. if you didnât know better, youâd probably say it was divine intervention or the years of dandelion wishes catching up to you and granting you this once and for all.
either way, you donât dwell on what causes your boss to offer you a position in spain, you simply give a grateful smile and ask when you can start.
you try not to think about the fact that spain reminds you of leah â of that family holiday you were invited to back when you were 9. you try not to think of the hours you spent playing mermaids in the pool and getting sunburned while eating as much food as your little bodies could handle.
you think youâd be able to find a connection to leah no matter where in the world you are.
every time you walk past a group of children playing football, youâre taken back the hours of running around fields with your blonde best friend as she dribbled past you like you werenât even there â and then letting you take the ball back moments later because she felt bad.
every time you go grocery shopping, your brain subconsciously reminds you which foods leah does and doesnât like, as if sheâll be popping around for tea like you live on the same street again and not in a whole different country.
leah didnât take that easily, either â the fact that you wouldnât be within in walking distance of her anymore.
you remember the way her eyes shined with tears when you showed her your transfer email. you remember the way she begged you stay, insisting that the better pay and higher position wouldnât matter if you moved in together. she promised she would take care of bills, and that all youâd have to do is stay.
she didnât understand that it wasnât like how it used to be.
leah wasnât the sun. not anymore. your life had to revolve around something else now.
spain is quite sunny, anyway. youâre sure youâll find something new.
the most that i could give to you was nothing at all
the best that i could offer was to miss your calls
you settle into your new home quickly, and when you ignore the constant ache in your chest, you find that spain makes you quite happy.
leah calls more than she did when you were in london, and you find yourself purposely ignoring them for the sake of letting her down easily. you lived in spain now, and leah lived in london. it just wouldnât work.
you wish you were a big enough person to pick up the phone, but you knew that the second you hear her voice again, youâd be back to square one.
the most that you can give is nothing at all.
try to walk away but i come back to the start
and it happens over and over and over and over again
over and over and over and over again
i wish i was over it, over it, over it, over it
even in spain, you think of leah.
you always think of leah.
you watch her games whenever you can â both for england and for arsenal. you buy a williamson #6 jersey when she changes her number and you wear it proudly whenever you sit in front of the tv and watch her play the game you had become so accustomed to.
the signed jersey from all those years ago is the one you wear to sleep. leahâs message has long since faded, and it doesnât smell like her anymore, but the comfort it brings is the same as it always was.
every birthday, you find yourself staring at the candles wondering what you should wish for. back when you had leah everything, you could always come up with something new to wish for. now, though, you donât know. thereâs only one thing you want, and you canât have her it. when you close your eyes, the warmth of the candles in front of your face uncomfortably familiar, you only see images of leah. you see her smiling, laughing, and playing.
you wish for her happiness.
youâre not sure what that means for you.
a hidden gem, my own goldmine
you had the wide and wild eyes
leah isnât just your favourite footballer anymore.
sheâs an inspiration to thousands of people, one of the best in her field, and you know deep down that youâve done the right thing by leaving.
sheâs doing everything she ever wanted, what does it matter if sheâs not doing it with you?
youâre sure she doesnât miss you, anyway.
you pretend not to notice when leah views your instagram stories, and you act like it doesnât make your ache to reach out to her.
but you canât.
you were a secret to yourself
you couldn't keep from anyone else
now you're the biggest brightest flame
you are a fire that canât be tamed
you're better than ever, but i knew you when
leah williamson, england captain. but you remember when she was simply leah, the girl with legs too long for her body and a smile too wide for someone in the middle getting told off for tracking mud into her mum's kitchen.
leah williamson, european champion. but you were there when she was just leah williamson, the teenager determined to prove herself and make her family proud.
you held her when she had a bad game, and you cheered on the sidelines when she played her first match as a gunner.
before she was anyone else, she was your best friend.
but...she had always been more than that, hadn't she?
she was always meant for more than you and your garden bouquets and your late night conversations.
she was always going to be more than that little street on milton keynes, and maybe you had always known that you were doomed for heartbreak.
leah williamson had never really been yours.
not even when you were 16, and she told you she liked you the way girls should like boys.
she wasn't yours when she tentatively pressed her lips against yours for the first time on your 17th birthday.
she wasn't even yours when she promised she was.
she had always been her own person, and you were simply the idiot on the sidelines with your arms open for whenever she felt like being someone elseâs for a moment.
she had never been yours, but you had known since the day she first presented you with a stolen flower when you were 6 that you were hers.
leah wasn't yours, much like that dandelion wasn't really yours either. because she had ripped it from the ground outside mr. miller's house much like she had done to your heart when she told you that you were a distraction.
youâve had a long time to get over leah, and an even longer time to find yourself outside of being her best friend. but either you simply donât want to, or that birthday wish you made when you were turning 17 really did come true, because you find that leahâs the only person you want even after years apart. even after leah had broken your heart and failed to fix it, you still want her to hold you at the end of the night and tell you everything she thinks and feels, and you want nothing more than to listen to her voice and the steady beat of her heart and know that youâre home.
you think that maybe itâs not a bad thing to still want leah. maybe you can start over. you can be leah and y/n again.
it's bittersweet to see you again.
you spend most of your time home falling back into routine with leah, much like the one you had when you were 16.
and while the conversations no longer revolve around who of your classmates fancies who, or how badly you think you did on your recent exam, you feel the same warmth on your cheeks as you did when leah first held your hand so many years before.
your inside jokes still make you laugh harder than any comedy show you've been to, and leah's arm over your shoulder fits better than that tailored coat you got for your 21st birthday.
being back with leah feels right, and that terrifies you.
because it was wrong, wasn't it?
it was wrong to look at leah and see everything you could've had.
but when she catches your eye and glances down to your lips with pink cheeks, you think maybe you'll always be the girls in milton keynes, and maybe the flowers blooming the ground would belong to you once again.
the grin on her lips makes you hot in the face, hot blood in your pulsing veins.
heavy memories weigh on your brain as she presses her lips against yours like they were coming home, and you register her slide something soft into your palm as she kisses you.
reluctantly, you pull away with bated breath and open your hand, peering down curiously at what you now hold.
a dandelion.
âmake a wish, y/n.â
you glance up at leah â your leah.
âi donât think i need to.â

danielricciardo: as we're nearing our two year anniversary i wanted to say a couple things. one. i love you so much. when you came into my life i was in a bad place and you truly taught me to love myself again and how to love my sport again. you're the most amazing woman ever, the kindest soul and the most beautiful girl ever. two. i am so thankful for the support i have, i do not allow the disrespect some have given y/n. you guys have no real perception of relationships between athletes and fans. you do not have the right to comment on y/n in the way you are. you take extremely low blow and have the gall to confront her in public as well. do not call yourself a fan of mine when you treat the people i love like this. my team will now begin to monitor comment sections and will seek to block and report accounts doing this. thank you and i love you y/n.
comments on this post are turned off.
note: hope yall enjoyed!! i love danny and i saw the danny ric honky tonk this morning and had to write about him. i'd also had this idea for a while but didn't know who to write for lol. please listen to the song i love lucy so much and the song is so relatable xx
also anyone who has requested - i am working on them (but as per some questions in my asks, as for right now i do not write for footballers, if i become less disillusioned with the sport (thanks chelsea) this may change)

kissing lessons
"i asked her how to win my man" "and she said, i know just the thing" "gave me lip gloss and a hair toss" "and, after school, a lesson in kissing"
pairings: hope mikaelson x fem!reader
warnings/tags: none. purely fluff. youâre hopeâs bisexual awakening.
summary: what if roman wasnât hopeâs first kiss?
hope paced around your shared room, her mind a whirl of nerves and excitement. she glanced over at you, you were lounging on your bed, absorbed in a book. the memory of your childhood kiss surfaced, making her cheeks flush. the two of you had been seven, playing house, and your innocent kiss had sealed your pretend wedding. you had been her first kiss. and hope had been yours.
"y/n?" hope's voice broke the silence, tentative and unsure.
you looked up from your book, your eyes meeting hers. "hope"
she took a deep breath, her fingers twisting nervously. "i... i need your help with something."
you closed your book, giving hope your full attention. "sure, anything. what do you need?"
hope hesitated, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "it's about roman. i... i want to have my first kiss with him, but i don't know how. and i thought... since you're more experienced, maybe you could help me?"
your heart clenched. you had been in love with hope since you were both seven years old, but you had never found the courage to tell her. swallowing your feelings, you put on a brave face. "you want me to teach you how to kiss?"
hope nodded, her face reddening further. "i know it's weird, but i trust you. you're my best friend, and we've kissed before... remember? when we were kids."
you chuckled softly, the memory bringing both joy and pain. "yeah, i remember. our big wedding day."
hope's nerves eased slightly at the shared memory, but the tension quickly returned. "so... will you help me?"
you sighed, setting your book aside. "okay, hope. if it's what you really want."
hope's heart pounded as she moved closer to you, sitting on the edge of your bed. you reached for a small tube of lip gloss on your nightstand and started applying it to your lips.
hope raised an eyebrow. "is that really necessary?"
you grinned, your voice teasing. "yes, it is. you wouldn't know."
hope laughed and rolled her eyes. "you're ridiculous."
you finished applying the lip gloss and turned to face hope, your expression growing more serious.
you leaned in, gently cupping hopeâs face in your hands, your voice soft but unsteady. "are you sure you want to do this? it's okay if you've changed your mindâ"
hope cuts you off by grabbing the collar of your school uniform, using it to pull you in for a kiss. the kiss was soft and tentative at first, but it quickly deepened, growing more intense. your lips were impossibly soft, the gloss making your lips feel slick and warm against hers. you tasted and smelled like strawberries.
as the kiss deepened, hope's thoughts began to blur. she had thought this would be about roman, but all she could think about was you. her best friend, the girl who had always been there for her. the girl who was kissing her now, with a tenderness that made her heart ache.
when the two of you finally pulled away, you were both left dazed, breathing heavily. hopeâs lips were thoroughly covered in your lip gloss. you were the first to speak, your voice soft but steady. "hope, you donât need to worry about kissing roman. youâre already a really good kisser."
hope's cheeks flushed a deep crimson. "really?"
you nodded, your heart breaking a little more with each second. "really."
you leaned in and kissed hope gently on the cheek. your lip gloss leaving a mark on her cheek. it was a tender, affectionate gesture that made her heart flutter.
her mind was a whirl of confusion and realization. she had thought that this had been about roman, but now she wasn't so sure. the way your kiss had made her feel was unlike anything she had ever experienced. maybe she liked girls just as much as she liked boys. or maybe... she just liked you.
but she couldn't bring herself to say it, not yet. not when everything was so new and confusing. instead, she simply smiled and hugged you tightly. "thanks, y/n. you're the best."
you hugged her back, hiding your own feelings behind your decade long friendship. "anytime, hope. anytime."
as you pulled apart, hope felt a strange sense of longing. she didn't have all the answers yet, but she knew one thing for sure: with you by her side, she could face whatever came next. and maybe, just maybe, she would find the courage to explore these new feelings in time.

matt sturniolo x fem reader
this isnât proof read đđ
suggestive ???
i knew this would happen. it happened with the last guy i went on a date with, and the guy before that. they just werent him. it was such a horrible feeling to sit across from someone in a restaurant searching their face for a more familiar one, one that had memories etched into his smile lines, one that had a piece of you with him. but the feeling of having him, but not being abel to have him, wasnt much better.
it was hard, finding the middle ground between my ex and my best friend. we both promised that if we ever broke up nothing would change between us. but it did. i was more cautious of him. i picked my words carefully when they left my mouth. i studied his body language whenever i was close to him. he was like a ticking time bomb. he could be set off at any minute.
lazy footsteps could be heard before i saw matt pad his way into my living room before he plopped himself down next to me. he let himself in. of course he did. he leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees before turning to look at me with a sad smile on his face.
"you okay?" his voice was hushed. like if he spoke too loud i might shatter. i just nodded with a gloomy smile on my face.
"so why do you look so sad y/n?" he knew me so well and i hated it. i couldnt differentiate wether he knew me so well because he was my bestfriend for so long, or if because he was the love of my life at one point.
"just the date. i dont think you wanna hear about it" i let out a sad laugh as i spoke. his eyebrows furrowed for a second before he replied.
"youre still my bestfriend y/n. just because youre my ex too doesnât mean you cant tell me about the new guys" he sounded genuine. like he didnt care about the new guys. like he wasnt mad about them. but he should be. i wish he was. i wish he was repulsed at the thought of me ever being able to move on from him. but he wasnt. i kept my eyes trained to the ground. there was a heavy silence as he searched my face. i could feel his wandering eyes burning holes into me. like he could see straight into my brain.
"he called me cerebral matt" i paused, eyes still boring holes into the carpet beneath me. "i didnt even know what it meant" i raised my eyebrows and let out a huff of air through my nose. "would it have killed him to call me pretty instead?" i finally looked up at matt to see his eyes still on me. a look on his face that i couldnt decipher. i hated that he could see my walls crumbling.
"you are pretty y/n" he cooed, his voice so sickly sweet. matts hand moved onto my leg. rubbing slow circles with his thumb. i hated this. i hated that he could sit there and tell me this and not be mine. how could he promise to soften every edge and hold the world to its best when he was killing me.
"you cant say thing like this matt" i pushed his hand off my leg and just like that the walls were built back up again. his eyes dropped to his hand that was now slumped onto the sofa then back up to my face. he knew this was coming.
"why not?" he knew why. he just wanted to hear me say it. i paused momentarily. weighing up my options. deciding wether to say the real reason or to just leave it hanging in the air and say something that we both know is a lie. i didnt know where i stood with matt. he would treat me like in still his girlfriend in some ways, caring for me, being a shoulder for me to cry on and always being there to hold my hand when i needed him to, but he would drop it after a few seconds, leaving cold, heart shaped scars in his wake.
"because im still in love with you" tears were threatening to spill as i spoke. his face didnt move a fraction. he didnt even blink, just staring at me like he was deep in thought. this was old news for him and he probably could have beat me to it but atleast he was kind enough to let me say it. matt didnt even speak. he just kept staring at me as he brought a gantle hand up to the side of my face.
before i could even pull his hand off my face his lips were on mine. i didnt have the type of self control to pull away. i leaned into him, craving the closeness, luckily he got the hint and pulled me into his lap so i was straddling him and the kiss grew heavy, his tongue forcing its way into my mouth, his wandering hands grabbing and groping whatever skin he could. he moved his mouth off mine and began trailing wet kisses down my neck and jawline making my breath hitch and my eyes close.
he began sucking and biting the skin on the side of my neck making me while. my hands found home in his hair, tugging softly, earning a satisfied hum from matt before he spoke against me.
"lets just get back together mh?" i was so lost in the way his lips felt on my skin i didnt even register what he had said until a few seconds later. i immediately pulled his head away from me and stared at him with wide eyes.
"what?" surprise evident in the sound of my voice.
"i dont see what the problem is, we both still love each other and i hate seeing you go on dates with shitty guys so why not?" i couldnt even reply to him. i just stared at him with my wouth hung open. what the fuck.
"if you dont want to, ill stop, but if you do, just say the words and ill give you whatever you want." he sounded so sure.
"yes" that was all he needed before he smirked and brought his lips to mine again, kissing me, hot and heavy.
the kiss was sloppy and desperate, both of us urgent for a touch we craved so badly. he ground his hips up, pressing his hard on into my heat making me whine into his mouth. i felt him smile against my lips before he kissed down my chin and throat before licking a stripe up it, pulling a moan from me, causing my hips to stutter against his involuntarily.
make up sex is good for the soul.
pt 2 coming soon an itâs spicy đ€

kissing lessons: 3
synopsis: it was like sheâd never left as you settled back into friendship, but how you wished there was more to it.
song: kissing lessons - lucy dacus
pairing: college!ellie x reader
warnings: nothing??
a/n: getting juicy now đđ
part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4
âmove in with me.â
was she crazy? you couldnt just move in with her.
âim sorry?â
ellie laughed, you looked at her like she was crazy. âmove in with me! ive got an apartment like 10 minutes from here.â
âellie, respectfully, i havenât seen you for a decade, and you think im just gonna move in with you to an apartment ive never seen? that you donât even live in?â you stood up, arms crossed over your chest and paced. âand, even if i wanted to, im still 17, i dont turn 18 until september. i cant just move out. my mom would, like, i donât know⊠sheâd probably call the police.â
ellie smiled was you through out every possibility under the sun. âsheâd disown me. take back my car. she pays for it, not me. and i donât know if my job even pays enough for me to pay rent.â your threw your hands in the air and finally saw ellieâs small laugh. âwhat are you laughing at?â
she shrugged, pulling you back down to her bed. âi donât even move in until the end of september. and only someone who was considering it would come up with all that in two minutes.â she sighed when you rolled your eyes at her. âyou keep rolling those eyes and theyâre gonna get stuck.â
âoh my god, shut up.â she watched you try to hide a smile.
ellie couldnât help but wonder about you even as you sat in front of her. what did you love and what did you hate? what made you tick? did you remember everything she taught you in her old room? on the mattress you sat on now. how to kiss, and how to get cole or justin or whatever guy had a crush on you.
she wondered what you wanted to do in life. who you were friends with at school. if you wanted to kiss her as much as she wanted to kiss you. like old times.
your heads both turned as the street lights flicked on.
âi better get going.â
âstay for dinner.â
your voices overlapped before silence.
âokay.â
ellie smiled, getting up and holding a hand out to you. you took and she pulled you up but didnât let go as she led you back downstairs.
god it was gonna be hard to be just friends.
âso,â joel sat down his fork and looked at you. âhave you thought about college? where you wanna go? what youâd like to study.â
you nodded, copying joel and putting down your own fork. âyeah, i was planning to stay here actually. instate tuition and all that.â you took a sip of water before continuing. âi think iâd like to be a teacher? maybe. i just know i want to work with kids.â
âwouldnât even have to learn about them, considering you are one,â ellie teased. you kicked her shin under the table. âow, fuck.â
âellie no cursing at the dinner table.â joel winked at you as ellie scoffed. âwhatâs happened since weâve been gone?â
you sat back in your chair, thinking about everything of sustenance. âhonestly nothing. itâs incredibly boring.â you gasped as you remembered. âmel got pregnant last year.â
ellie nearly spit out her food. âno way.â you nodded, picking up your fork again. âwith who? whatâd her parents do?â
âowen.â ellie gasped as you nodded. âwho, mind you, at the time was dating abby.â
âgood god.â joel stood up, taking his plate with him. âthats enough for me.â you and ellie laughed as he left.
ellie cleared her throat as you took a bite. â20 questions?â you nodded and set down your fork before getting comfortable. âfavorite song?â
you hummed, âkyoto, phoebe bridgers.â ellie nodded approvingly. âfavorite movie?â
âthe outsiders.â you groaned and ellies jaw dropped. âexcuse me? whats your favorite then?â
âpractical magic, duh.â you smirked as she rolled her eyes. âyou keep rolling those eyes and theyâre gonna get stuck.â you echoed her comment from earlier.
âyouâre so annoying.â ellie flicked a pea at you.
you threw one back, hitting her forehead. âfavorite book?â
she thought for a moment before she answered. âcatcher in the rye.â
âgood one.â she nodded. âwanna get slushies?â
ellie bolted up with a smile, âgod i thought youâd never ask.â
âi canât believe you dont get cherry and blue raspberry.â you shouldered ellie as you walked back to your car.
ellie scoffed. âi canât believe you do.â she pulled at the passenger door. âunlock the car.â you got in, closing your door and locking it. âangel.â
you smiled at her and turned on music, singing along between sips. ellie walked around to your window and knocked. your pretended to be shocked, turning down the radio and rolling down the window. âwhat can i do for you this fine evening?â
ellie leaned her arms on the car door with an innocent smile. âcan i kiss you?â
âwhat?â your face and mind blanked long enough for ellie to unlock the door and pull it open. you barely realized before she was clambering over you to the passenger seat. âoh fuck you.â
ellie gasped, ïżœïżœïżœhow unladylike. you just sip your slushy and get me home safely,â she teased as she buckled her seat belt.
you fought the urge to roll your eyes as you shut your door and put the car in reverse.
how badly you wanted to have said yes.

Dedicated To New Lovers
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Reader (she/her pronouns)
WC: ~5.5k
TW: Murder, Angst, Character Death, guns, violence, blood, swearing, depression, mentions of disordered eating, mentions of insomnia, self-deprecating thoughts, loneliness, heartbreak, Mentions of Emily's death, the grieving process, drinking, screaming, crying, sobbing, throwing up, being under pressure
A/N: This is based on s8 ep12, Zugzwang. It deviates slightly but still makes Spencer sob so it could basically be canon. Obviously, or maybe not to some people, this fic is based off of Night Shift by Lucy Dacus. It's been my obsession for the past couple weeks and I simply just had to write something for it. Now my one issue is, besides me ignoring editing it, is that I hate when things don't end happily, but I'm breaking out of the mold of everything ending with a nice neat little bow, so please enjoy! (well as much as you can for such a depressing fic lmao).
"Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life alone ---We find it with another." ~Thomas Merton.
âThank you for such a wonderful night.â You murmured, pulling away from the kiss, hands on their chest. âI really enjoyed it Speââ, you coughed and blinked a couple of times, catching yourself. âEspecially,â You clutched your chest, smiling up at them, âSorry I donât know where that just came from.âÂ
The lips you had just kissed had shifted into a concerned smile, but was none the wiser.Â
âEspecially dessert. I loved the pie place, you were so right! The apple was just perfectly seasoned, and the crust was still crumbly.â You leaned up and kissed their cheek again.Â
âIâll see you again, yeah?â You whispered, before turning around and heading into your apartment building, not waiting for a response, smile falling the second you werenât looking at them. You buzzed yourself in and quickly walked up the four flights of stairs towards your door.
You fucking hated pie. Well that wasnât true, but you didnât really want to spend your evening going and getting pie with someone you really werenât that into.Â
You couldnât help but wonder why everything was wrong. They were kind, and sweet, and cared so much for you, but it just wasnât the same. Your heart was just not in the place, and not a single butterfly fluttered around in your stomach, you couldnât figure out what was wrong with you.
Well that was a lie too. You knew exactly what was wrong.Â
âIâm fine, itâs fine.â You mumbled, getting your keys out and unlocking your front door, grabbing the mail off of the mat, and closing the door behind you.Â
The boxes stacked precariously around your place just left you feeling more and more destitute on this island of loneliness. God you were so fucking dramatic. You dumped the roses they had given you, and your purse onto the kitchen counter, and went straight for the fridge, grabbing the bottle of Prosecco. The cork popped, and you took a swig straight from the bottle.Â
Your phone rang, and you pulled it out of your pocket, sighing and answering it.Â
âHey Em.âÂ
âWow, was it that bad of a date?â Emily laughed a little. She had been concerned about you, the whole team had been concerned about you. Her death had hit you and Spencer the hardest. You had become fast friends with Emily, regardless of the fact that when she joined, you were the youngest, and newest on the team as well. The two of you had become fast friends, and even faster sisters. She was your everything. She was there for your fatherâs death, the start of your relationship with Spencer, the harder cases, the bitching, the girls nights, the everything. But you had run into the warehouse, and saw Derek cradling her hand, screaming for a medic, and you just lost it. Your brain went into overdrive, rendering you useless. When JJ walked into the waiting room and told all of you the news, you sat there, shocked. Spencer had tried to go see her, but you had just excused yourself and walked out to the parking lot. It was devastating. You were allowed back from leave a week later than everyone else because Hotch knew you needed more time. So when she walked back into the round room, alive and well, your barely pieced together mind completely shattered all over again.Â
You watched for seven months as Spencer let you grieve alone while running off to JJâs house for comfort. You had sat alone in your shared apartment becoming more and more of a shell of a person, not really eating, sleeping, or even drinking water; you were barely existing. Five years of a relationship washed away because that first night, instead of comforting each other, Spencer had abandoned you at the hospital, forgetting to even drive you home. Then, when his headaches got, he pulled even further away, only hearing snippets of how he was doing from those on the team who didnât even live with him.Â
The team could only watch as you slowly became a ghost of yourself, while Spencer couldnât even give a shit to notice.Â
The first time he mentioned Maeve to you, it was like a stake in your chest. You had caught him talking to her when you had come back early from the therapy Hotch had almost threatened you at gunpoint to go to. He quickly hung up the phone and mentioned that she was his doctor, helping him with his headaches. But you knew better. You had heard him laughing before you walked into the apartment. You hadnât heard him laugh since before Emily had âdiedâ.Â
Then, one night, he told you it was over. Â I donât love you anymore.Â
You just sat there, chest caving in on yourself.Â
Since this was my place first, uhâŠI can give you a couple of weeks to find a place, and Iâll even sleep on the couchâŠ
His words bounced around in your head before Emily said your name. âYou disappeared on me.âÂ
âShit-uh, shit. Sorry Em.â You shook your head, and pinched your brow. âThey were really lovely Em, just the best. But Iâm just not ready.âÂ
Emily sighed, âI know itâs only been four months but Iâm proud of you, I really am. For even going out in the first place. Want me to come over, bring a new bottle of prosecco.âÂ
You laughed, but it had no substance. âHowâd you know I was almost out of Prosecco.âÂ
Emily sighed. âI know youâre a grown woman who can handle living alone, but Sergio and I wouldnât have minded if you stayed with us for a couple more weeks.â Â
âAnd I know that, and I love you so much for it, but the only way Iâm ever going to be able toâŠâ the words got stuck in your throat. âI, um. I had to.âÂ
Emily sighed, but understood. âOkay, well, if you need anything, Iâm a phone call away, or a block away, whichever is faster for you.âÂ
âThanks Emily. Iâll see you tomorrow.â And with that you hung up the phone, not wanting to prolong the conversation any more than it had.Â
âFucking Maeve.â You grumbled to the living room before taking another swig from the bottle. You barely slept these days. Your date this past night? The first time you had eaten a full meal in over two weeks. Your skin was a little more gaunt, and the concealer you were using was working overtime to hide the bags under your eyes. You were once someone filled with so much joy, and so much love to give. Everyone knew you were a touchy person, always giving hugs, touching peopleâs arms, squeezing their hands; if someone tried to touch you now, your whole body would tense up, your stomach would flip. Eventually, after finishing off the bottle, you fell into a restless sleep on the couch of your apartment, since you didnât want to sleep alone in your own mattress, dreaming about the fact that someone else was probably in the one you bought with Spencer all those years ago when he asked you to live with him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
The office went silent as you walked into work the next morning. You were always one to arrive early, make your coffee, visit Penelope in the Bat Cave, stop by Hotch and Rossiâs offices and wish them a good morning. But these days you walked through those glass doors exactly at 9 am, unless you were called in.Â
It was masochistic to still work at the BAU, but it was one dream you werenât going to let Spencer take away from you. But as you walked into the bullpen, and all heads turned towards you with such pitiful looks, you doubted whether you belonged here anymore.Â
Before you could place your bag down, Aaron walked over to you and quietly asked if you would come into his office. You obliged, a sinking feeling in your gut, as you followed Hotch, while the eyes of everyone else followed you.Â
As Hotch opened the door, you froze. Spencer was sitting on the couch, trying to wipe away the tears in his eyes. He clearly also hadnât been sleeping, but you knew those tears werenât for you. You stayed in the doorway until Hotch gestured to one of the chairs along the side of his office. You moved away from the door, but stayed standing, refusing to sit down. Hotch closed the door, trapping you in his office with someone you hadnât spoken more than necessary to in over four months.
âDo you want to tell me why I'm here.â You asked calmly, trying to ignore the desperate man on the couch, who was just staring down at his feet.Â
âI am going to ask you to sit out this case.â Hotch looked at you, not sitting down either, ready to calm down whatever fight youâre about to put up.Â
Your eyes narrowed at your section chief and you scoffed. âYou better have a seriously good explanation Hotch because as Iâve told you many times before, Iâm doing fine. I donât know what has been said, but Iâm perfectly capable atââ
âI asked him if you could sit out.â Spencerâs voice was hoarse, but solid as he looked at you.Â
You closed your eyes and flexed one of your hands, resisting the urge to punch him in the teeth.
âSince when do you know whatâs best for me, Doctor Reid.â It took all of your control to stay civil and not curse him out in front of your boss.Â
âThatâs not it.â Spencer licked his lips but he quickly averted his gaze. âT-The case. Itâs um. Itâs about Maeve and IââÂ
Your heart dropped. Bile started to rise in your throat. âoh.â You had never felt so small in your life. Tears were forming in your eyes. âIâll be rightâŠIââÂ
You barely even finished the thought before you opened the door, and quickly walked out of Hotchâs office. No one even tried to pretend that they werenât watching Hotchâs office. Emily and Derek shot up off of their desks and immediately went to follow you as you sped down the stairs and through the bullpen. Hotch just looked down at his feet while Reid just rubbed his hands over his eyes.Â
You shoved through the doors, accidentally bumping into Penelope on the way out, causing her to drop the files and coffee mug in her hand. It shattered on the ground, but you couldnât stop to apologize. You needed to be in the bathroom before you became the agent who threw up all over the halls because of some stupid broken heart.Â
Emily had quickly helped Penelope pick things up, the two exchanging hushed whispers and looks. Derek had apologized to Penelope while he ran past, catching up to you with every stride. You shoved open the door to one of the womanâs rooms, Derek right behind you.Â
Luckily for you, it was empty, so you could continue running to the biggest stall, before dropping to your knees and throwing up. It burned your throat and your eyes, stinging every inch of skin as it rose up your throat and into the toilet in front of you.Â
Derek had pulled back your hair, and was now sitting down next to you as you dry heaved into the toilet. You only threw up actual substance one more time, but it was just that stupid fucking apple pie and the Prosecco from the night before. There was nothing else in your stomach to throw up, so your body settled for making you gag continuously.Â
âFuck.â You cried into the toilet, letting yourself fully devolve into the mess you were destined to become this morning.Â
Derek just rubbed your back, âItâs okay pretty girl, let it all out.âÂ
âDerek Morgan I think I am the ugliest son of a bitch right now.â You mumbled, reaching up and flushing the contents down the drain, tears still racing down your face. âI canât fuckingââ You tried to breathe in but your body was shutting down. Thatâs all it seemed to do these days. It felt like the only way to protect yourself anymore. âHeââ
âI know.â He whispered softly, offering you some toilet paper to let you wipe off your face, as you leaned back, away from the toilet.Â
Thatâs when the first sob wracked your body. Maybe you werenât meant to be on this team anymore. Spencer had been here longer. You were only an asset to the team because of your positive attitude which left your body the second Emily Prentiss was pronounced dead in that waiting room. You were the definition of useless. I mean, Derek and Emily were partners, Hotch and Rossi had everything down pat, and Spencer, even when you were dating, was truly partnered with JJ most of the time. You were the odd man out, and you were fucking useless.Â
Derek had pulled you into his chest, hugging you as the sobs continued. His heart was breaking for you. No one on the team really knew what had happened that night, all they knew was that you didnât come in one day, and then when you did the next, you looked like shit. All while Spencer seemed fine. Then, when your desk was moved to the opposite side of the bullpen, it confirmed any and all guesses the profilers had been making. You were never paired with him on cases anymore, and if you were, there was always a third person. You barely looked at one another. Spencerâs scarf had reappeared on his desk one morning, and suddenly you were no longer staying in the same hotel rooms. Derek just kissed your head as you let your body give up.Â
He wasnât stupid. Like everyone else, he had noticed the way you had been losing weight. He had noticed the amount of makeup you had started to wear. He even realized that he hadnât seen you eat any meals with them in the past couple months while they were out on cases. But what he hadnât fully realized was the fact that you were dead, inside and out. There was nothing left of you but the barely alive body he was holding.Â
Spencer had really gotten a good look at you for the first time in a very long time. He had already felt guilty about the fact that he had Maeve, and that you had broken up he had broken your heart. But what he had failed to realize was the same thing Derek hadâYou were someone entirely different, a ghost of yourself. The guilt was gnawing through his stomach when he told Hotch what was going on, and he had begged Hotch to let you sit out, trying to save you from this, but clearly Spencer couldnât do anything right for you anymore, he hadnât been able to in a very long time. Hotch had cleared his throat while Spencer shook his head. âI-I tried Hotch, I really didnât wantâŠâ
He just nodded at Spencer. âI know Reid, but you must have known there was no way this conversation was going to go any better than that.âÂ
Reid just nodded, and stood up, going out into the bullpen, not missing the way all of their eyes snapped to him, as Penelope dumped her broken mug into the trash.Â
Before anyone could say anything, Hotch walked out of his office and looked at everyone. âAs you all could have guessed, Agent Y/L/N will not be joining us on this case. I expect everyone in the conference room in ten.â and with that, Hotch walked past Reid, and down the stairs, out towards where he had assumed you had run off too.Â
Spencer just stood on the stairs, watching Hotch walk to you, wishing it could be him to hold you in his arms.
Hotch opened the door to the womenâs bathroom, and saw Derek cradling you. As you heard the door open, your body had tensed up and all of your tears had stopped. Derek and Hotch shared a look before Hotch kneeled down.Â
âSorry Aaron.â You mumbled, trying to wipe away the remaining tears on your face.Â
âDon't apologize. Take the next couple of days off. Penelope might call and ask you a question or two, if she manages to forgive you for breaking her third favorite coffee mugâŠâÂ
You laughed slightly at his joke, trying not to let it cause you to cry even more, wiping away more tears.Â
âBut I expect you donât need me to tell you this is an order.âÂ
You nodded at Hotch while you stood up, Derek quickly following suit. âWeâre meeting in ten.â He nodded at Derek, who took the hint. He squeezed your arm, and kissed your head, whispering to call him if you needed anything, before leaving just you and Hotch alone in the bathroom. He held up your purse and gave you a sympathetic smile.Â
âI am only a phone call away Y/n. If anything happens, I want to be the first to know.â He nodded at you, only for you to pull him into a hug. Hotch smiled slightly, because you hadnât really hugged anyone for a while, so he quickly reciprocated before pulling away. âHotch, can I ask you one more favor?âÂ
âAnything,â He said softly.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once he had left, You grabbed a paper towel from the dispenser and tried to wipe as much of the mascara track marks off. You eventually just wiped off your whole face of makeup. You stared at yourself, realizing just how fucked you were. Eventually, you had made your way out of the bathroom, and past the bullpen. Everyone was piling into the conference room, but Spencer had stopped to watch you enter the elevator, really looking at you. You made eye contact right as the doors started to close. Spencerâs gut twisted at the forlorn look on your face. But before he could do anything, the doors were closed, you were gone, and his name was called by Hotch. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to the updates from Emily and Derek, the case was not going well. You knew very little about it, and you wanted to keep it this way, but you knew this case wasnât going to end well. You could just tell.Â
You had been existing in your own apartment, making frequent trips to Emilyâs to keep your favorite cat company. You would go on long walks as the sun set, nowhere truly in mind, just wandering around trying to think about anything else. You would listen to your music, trying to take your mind off of the man who you hadnât been able to stop thinking about since you first joined the team. It could have been yesterday based on how well you remembered it.Â
But instead of wallowing, you tried to at least wallow in public, resolving to minimize the sheer amount of pity parties you had been throwing yourself.
Three days later, you had been walking around aimlessly, just trying to hit your new goal of 10,000 steps a day to start being active again, when your phone rang. You had answered it without a thought in the world since usually it was Derek, Hotch, and Emily on the other end.Â
But this time, it was none of them.Â
âHello?â Spencerâs entire body froze once he heard your voice, once he knew that Diane knew who you were.Â
âI just want her to see one more thing.âÂ
âHello?â You asked again, just about to hang up, thinking it was some sort of prank call when a woman spoke to you.Â
âIs this Doctor Y/N Y/L/N?â Maeve looked over at Spencer, confusion and horror in her eyes, while Spencer just stared at the phone, willing for you to hang up.Â
âUm, yes? May I ask who this isâŠâÂ
âMy name is Diane.âÂ
âUm, okay, Diane. Can I ask why youâre calling me.â You had just walked into your apartment, Spencer could hear the unfamiliar creek of the door as it slammed shut.Â
âWhat do you know about Doctor Maeve Donovan.âÂ
Your whole body froze. âWhat?â barely even whispering out your response.Â
âWhat do you know about Maeve.â Her temper exploded, and you just sat there trying to breathe.Â
âWh-what do you want to know about her?â You had taken several courses in negotiation, taught by David Rossi himself, so your training started to kick in, but your panic was fighting strongly against it. You just couldn't bring yourself to say her name.
The team was outside of the building, when Garcia had called and tapped them into the phone call Diane was making. When they heard your voice, all of them froze. This was not what she was supposed to do. How the hell did she even know about you?Â
âI want you to tell me about how she ruined your life.â
Spencer tried to speak but Diane pointed the gun at Maeve, making him go silent. Maeve had started silently crying, unable to believe this is what her life had become.Â
âIâ, You want me to tell you about some woman I have never met?â
âYes yes yes. Why wonât any of you fucking listen.â You recieved a text on your watch, from Hotch, briefing you on the fact that Diane had both Spencer and Maeve hostage in the warehouse she was calling from.
You took a shaky inhale before biting your lips. âI want to know that theyâre both okay Diane. I need to hear both Spencer and M..Maeve speak.â God this was so fucking hard, it hurt so fucking badly.
Diane rolled her eyes before nodding at Maeve. âH-hi.â She whispered. âIâm so, so sorry. I didnâtââ she was cut off but the barrel of the gun pushed against her head.Â
All you could do was clutch your fist while she spoke, because you realized you couldnât be angry at her for falling in love with Spencer, because you had too.Â
âAnd Spencer?â Your voice cracked out, desperate to hear his voice.Â
âGo on Spencer. Tell her youâve been okay without her.âÂ
Spencer winced and spoke up, dying for you to just hang up the phone. âIâm here Y/N.âÂ
The way he said your name made you want to curl up into a ball and die, but it wasnât good enough for Diane.Â
âNot good enough Spencer. Tell her how you ruined her life. She deserves to hear it from you since you broke her just like you broke me for loving the ONE WOMAN I DESERVED TO BE LOVED BY.âÂ
Spencer heard the sharp intake of your breath. He could hear you trying not to cry. After everything, he never wanted to hurt you, but clearly he had fucked himself over and over with every single decision he made. He knew you knew he was playing along with her fantasy, but he knew that you hearing these words would ruin your life more than any gunshot would.Â
âTell me Spencer.â You breathed out, knowing if he continued to play along, maybe he could make it out of this alive, regardless of everything that had gone on between the two of you.Â
âPlease.â Spencer turned to Diane. âShe has nothing to do with this, let her hang up the phââ
âIf she hangs up, I shoot Maeve and let you watch as she dies.âÂ
And there it was. There was a small, awful part of you that wanted to hang up the phone right then and there. Let him suffer and feel the pain you had been feeling for months and months. Your silence was enough to let Spencer know you were struggling, which hurt him even more because that same small part of him knew he deserved it, forgiveness for you and all.Â
The team listened to the silence, some of them waiting for the dial tone, others grieving the shit you put yourself through just for someone who didn't love you anymore.
âWould you rather I tell you how he ruined my life, just like he did yours?â You breathed out, finally saying something. The entire SWAT team, along with your team was listening in, everyone was waiting with bated breath to hear--everyone wanted to know.
Prentiss looked over at Hotch. âHotch we canât let her do this. ItâŠâ
But Hotch just shook his head. âIf we hang up the phone, Maeve dies, and if nobody complies with Diana, both Spencer and Maeve die.â
Rossi spoke up. âYou have to trust her, sheâs negotiating. Sheâs buying us time. Whether or not we should be listening to this is the real question.âÂ
All of them went silent after that, a decision had been made.Â
Dianeâs face twisted into a smile. âIâd love too.âÂ
You closed your eyes and let out a shaky breath. âD-Do you know what itâs like, Diane, to walk into work every morning and have every single person who promises you they care about you over and over and over again just stare at you like you're some sort of wounded puppy? Watching as they handle you like a glass figurine that they all feel responsible for breaking, and yet the one person who threw you against the wall doesnât even notice.âÂ
Diane huffed, but she nodded. âKeep going.â
âDo you know how long we were together?âÂ
Spencer couldnât decide who the question was for.Â
âTell me Spencer. Tell me how many days of her life you threw away just to love someone who youâve never met before..â
He couldnât look at Maeve. He couldnât look at Diane. Your heart had given out right then and there, they had never even met in person. He had fallen in love with a woman he'd never seen before.
âTell her Spencer.â You voice came out harsher than intended, your resolve was gone, but it made Diane smile even more, becoming comfortable with the taste of venom in your mouth.Â
His voice wavered. âFive years, two months, nine days, and three hours.âÂ
You let out something resembling a controlled sob, which had Dianeâs smile growing by the second. Maeve just stared at him, and Spencer couldnât tell if she was horrified or upset or just sad.Â
âYou threw away over five years worth of love, to ruin my relationship?âÂ
âDiane.â You said suddenly, trying to get her attention back off of the two people she was holding hostage.Â
âWhat.â She was starting to become irritated, ancy, waving the gun around more.Â
âWant to know the worst part about it.âÂ
âIf you tell it to me quickly because Iâm running out of patience Y/N.â
âHeâs making me transfer departments.âÂ
Your big secret was out.Â
âWhat.â Spencer breathed out, the shock spread across his face. He couldnât imagine the bullpen without you, and when he wasn't on the phone with Maeve, he couldnât stop thinking about you. The days where you werenât near him went by torturously slow, and all he could do was hope that you might look at him again, let him apologize, let him fix this. Diane watched as the pain flashed across Spencer's face, enjoying it.
The team all turned to Hotch, hoping that she was bluffing. But Hotch just looked down at the ground, confirming the awful truth.Â
âI just finished putting in my transfer today.â You didn't know who you were explaining it toâthe team, to Diane, or to Spencer, maybe all of them.Â
âBeing around him, knowing he doesnât loââ You went silent for a second before switching gears. âThis was my dream.â Your lips started talking, and everyone listened intensely. âI trained specifically for the BAU. I got three Bachelors in worthless shit so that the FBI would spike its interest in me so that I could get into the academy and prove myself to Agent Hotchner. Prove myself to Jason Gideon. Then I went and got a PhD in Psychology with focuses in Trauma and Forensic Sciences. And I fucking loved it. I had finally proven to myself that maybe, just maybe, I was good enough. I finally found a place I belonged, with the people I belonged with. And I was so fucking good at my job Diane. You wouldnât even comprehend it. But he took all of it from me. Every last bit of joy was sucked out of my body the minute he told me he didnât love me anymore. The minute he didnât even apologize for breaking my heart and ruining everything I worked so hard for. And then he still expected me to be at my best, getting pissed when I would be distracted, disrespecting me and my intelligence in front of our peers, our friends. He neglected our relationship, abandoning me when I needed him the most, and then expected me to love him all the same. The audacity is through the fucking roof.âÂ
Spencer was just staring at the phone, heart beating loudly in his chest. âAnd the honest to god truth Diane, the worst part of it all, I would forgive him in a heartbeat. I donât even know why I would, I feel no fucking reason to forgive him, but I might as well. If he asked me to greet him on the tarmac and kiss him once this case is over and he survives, I might, just so I can remember how it felt to be loved. He barely noticed that I had stopped eating, or didnât care enough to say anything. He didn't do shit when I would show up half an hour late to the jet because I was so exhausted that I fell asleep at my desk, because I havenât slept in months. He just doesnât care anymore and Iâd rather die than step foot into Quantico again because losing him was already too much to fucking bare. Iâd rather never see him ever again, if I can help it.âÂ
You exhaled, feeling the slightest weight off of your chest, but your words were calculated. The end of your rant held some truth to it, both you and Spencer knew that, but something about the last line of what you had said was bugging Emily.Â
She turned to Hotch. âRossi is right, sheâs stalling.âÂ
âBut?â JJ asked her, looking at the building, before looking back at Emily.Â
âSheâs trying to get Diane to shoot Spencer to save Maeve.âÂ
Just as the entire team realized this, they heard Spencerâs voice, steady and unwavering. âI told her not to come on this case because I knew she would have slowed us down.âÂ
Your brain shortcircuited as a hand came up to cover up your sob. Not because what he said was the truth but because Spencer knew what you were doing, and he was trying to do the same thing.
âSheâs been useless ever since our friend was killed during a case almost two years ago. Sheâs barely intelligent, and all she does for this team, truly, is parade around with a positive attitude that gets on on everyone else's nerves because she could never put as much effort into anything as you clearly have.âÂ
Diane walked over to him, squatting down in front of him. âI want to hear you say it to her Spencer.â
Your mouth betrayed you as a soft whimper came through the phone. Spencer didn't mean all of this, he couldn't have, but hearing the words still burned you alive.
âI-IâŠYou slow this team down, and I have always thought you were a waste of space. I never loved youâŠâ And if it wasn't for the slight change in pitch right as he said never, Diane would have believed him, but she pulled away glaring at Spencer.Â
âLiar.â She hissed at him. âLiar, Liar, LIAR.âÂ
All you could hear through the phone was a muffled struggle before a shot rang out. You heard a second one and heard Spencer land near the phone. You couldnât make a single sound, conjuring up the worst scenarios in your head. You could hear him trying to negotiate with Diane. You could hear Maeve struggling to breathe. You heard him begging to take her place, you heard Diane screaming about Thomas Merton.Â
You heard Spencer scream out wait before a gun shot rang out through the warehouse. Everyone was silent, for all you knew Spencer was dead. He had been shot agasin and killed, and the last thing you would have ever said to him was that you never wanted to see him again. But then, you heard Spencer start sobbing. The small twisted part of you came back and was so relieved that he was okay, that he was alive. But listening to the man you would die for cry over another womanâs body made your skin turn inside out. You had out your phone on speaker for your rant, leaving it on the counter. You reached for it, ready to hang up. But thatâs when you heard your name.Â
Spencer had sobbed your name.Â
He scrambled over to the phone and frantically repeated your name over and over until you interrupted him.Â
âSpencer.â
âIâm so fucking sorry.â He whispered, sitting against the wall unable to look at the bodies on the floor. "I didn't...I didn't mean any of it, I swear."
âSpencer. Iââ You inhaled sharply. âItâs selfish but Iâm glad youâre still alive.â You whispered out, causing Spencer to let out another sob.Â
"Y/N I-I'm so sorry. I-Can you..."
âI-I canât do this Spence. Iâm so sorry.â You whispered, your heart shattering all over again. âI canâtâŠ.Iâm sorry.â And with that, you hung up, leaving Spencer on the floor, heartbroken and sobbing, truly losing both women he had ever loved in the matter of seconds.Â

lorraine warren x fem!reader
cw: angst, repressed emotions and such
a/n: i love her so bad!!! the lack of fanfics is absurd though... inspired by 'christine' - lucy dacus & a reference to 'i'd have to think about it' by leith ross.
words: 2.4k+
connecticut felt cold. colder than usual. maybe autumn was coming faster. maybe it was going to rain. whatever it was you were glad it happened. because tonight lorraine held your hand tighter to keep hers warm. you welcomed it, naturally, without hesitation as the three of you walked out of the theater.
but much to your dismay ed hadn't parked far away.
"god that movie was so boring i was fighting not to fall asleep" lorraine complained. you scoffed in response, mumbling an 'i told you so', and she playfully shoved you.
"what? you insisted on watching it after i told you it would be!" you defended yourself with a playful smile.
"whatever." she grumbled, making you chuckle.
"well if you're tired you could sit in the back with y/n and sleep on the drive back" ed, ever the gentlemen, offered. you guess it was nice he cared and preferred she fall asleep comfortably over making her sit on the passenger seat beside him.
"you sure?" he smiled at her, still having her hands interlocked with yours. he thought it was a girlfriends thing. though in your eyes he was wrong, you just hoped lorraine thought so too.
"wouldn't want you exhausted." you could only stare at them smile at each other as you tried your best not to tear your hands away from lorraines grasp.
"thank you." she leaned to press a kiss into his cheek. that's when you looked away.
climbing into the backseat with her you noticed ed taking something from the trunk of his car before getting in the driver seat. he turned to the both of you before passing lorraine a wool blanket so she wouldn't get cold. it all felt natural. him caring for her. as if he'd done it a hundred times. you felt your gut churn at the thought. you know the feeling all too well. you felt it too. it seems you were far more similar to ed than you thought.
lorraine fell asleep quickly after ed started the drive back. as she did, the car fell into an almost awkward silence. but you weren't planning on talking to him any time soon. you were fine with lorraines head on your shoulder, her quiet mutters of nonsense as she dreamt.
you were already halfway back home when ed finally decided to speak.
"she alright back there?" of course, his first sentence to you would be about her. you just hummed, completely uninterested in conversing with him. you knew in a way it was childish. he'd done nothing to you or lorraine. but the mere prospect of losing her to him so easily was enough to make you dislike him.
it wasn't that you were possessive, no. she's had many boyfriends before him. but none of them had compared to him. they weren't as nice as he is, they didn't care about her like he did, mostly they didn't love her like he does.
it was stupid, really. you started to recognize it when he took her out to things you two usually did together. that wasn't out of the ordinary of course. her previous boyfriends had done the same. but before ed it was always;
"it was much more fun when i went there with you."
but with ed she'd call you grinning ear to ear, you could hear it in her voice. that's when you realized he didn't love her like her previous partners did. he loves her like you do.
"so how long have you known lorraine?" he looked at you and lorraine through the rear view mirror. you guess he got tired of the silence and decided it's better to talk about this than nothing. you sighed.
"since we were in middle school." you decided if he was going to talk to you, your responses would be short. you weren't trying to make a friend anyway.
"so you guys are close" you could tell he didn't plan what to say next. you just hummed. a minute of silence passes by.
"do you-"
"you don't have to talk to me, ed. i know you're her boyfriend and all but that doesn't mean we have to be friends." you cut him off. you felt bad, in a way. but you knew saying that was better than enduring painful small talk for another few minutes. so you were thankful when he nodded and you resumed staring at the road from out the window.Â
âiâm sorry, itâs just, youâre really important to her. and i donât know what iâve done to make you⊠disapprove of me, but whatever it is iâm sorry. truly. i care about her, and you mean so much to her- and i really, really donât wanna make this lose my chance with her. so could you please, tell me what iâve done.â he started again. you almost felt bad now. maybe youâve been too harsh on him. you sighed.
âlook, you havenât done anything. honest. but youâre getting terribly close to her. more than anyone else sheâs been with has managed to. you can't blame me for worrying about her a bit. i know youâre a good guy and iâm sorry if iâve made it seem like i dislike you in some sort of way, but itâs hard to know these daysâ you half-lied, half told the truth. he nodded his head in understanding. at least he believed you.Â
âif it makes you feel better i swear i have zero intentions of hurting her. you have my word on it.â you mustered up your best smile.
âthank you, ed.â he nodded. the rest of the ride was filled with lorraines constant murmurs and the sound of tires on gravel until you reached your house. calling lorraines name as softly as possible, you gently nudged her awake until her eyes opened to meet yours. she looked out the window, recognising your house immediately. of course she did, she was always there. she shuffled away from you until you were able to open the car door. but you were surprised to find her leaving the backseat too, following you out. you turned to her before walking back home.
âstill on for tomorrow?â she smiled at you. it was dopey and soft. her eyes squinting even more due to her still being half asleep. and my god was it warm.
âwouldn't miss it.â it was your turn to smile. with that, she pulled you in for a hug, and suddenly connecticut felt warmer than usual. you hope she was sleepy enough to not notice you held her tighter.
âsleep well pretty girl.â you whispered to her, she chuckled at that.
after pulling away she opened the door to the passenger seat beside ed and took a seat. all the warmth you felt previously suddenly disappeared. the cold rush of air prominent once more on your skin. So you turned and descended home. reaching your door you turned back. the car hasn't moved. lorraine was fast asleep again, but ed was watching you to ensure you made it inside. he can be nice. you unlocked your door before turning back once more and offering him a wave goodbye. and he grinned, gladly tossing you a wave back and turning to put his car back to drive. you found it difficult to sleep that night, too many things had managed to occupy your head. only thing keeping you steady was that youâd see her face tomorrow. just her.Â
-
your evening with lorraine was perfect. lunch was full of conversation and laughs about anything and everything and everything else in between. it tuned out any thoughts you had about the previous night. and him. it didn't stop you from admiring her as she rambled, however. you thought she was either so oblivious to not notice or she was welcoming it. you hoped for the latter.Â
by the time you two finished, evening was slowly approaching. you offered to get ice cream, you know sheâd never pass that up. so to an eager nod; you chuckled and guided you both to the nearest parlor. you got her order out before she got to telling you. she was surprised to find you got her order complete with nothing missing. sheâd be lying if she says it didnât make her smile, or make her heart beat a few times faster. but you were just being a good friend. though how come ed always asks what she wants?
with the park nearby empty, you took the opportunity to occupy a vacant bench. She followed quickly to sit by your side. the bench wasnât too long, you sat shoulder to shoulder. conversation came easily, until it steered to the topic of ed. something you desperately didnât need today.
"you think he'll make a mother out of me?" you scoffed at her, facing away to throw away your napkins to the trash can beside the bench before facing her again.
"you'll make a mother out of yourself when the time is ready. raise 'em like you've always wanted."
"by the lake" you both said in whispered unison. it never failed to surprise her how you always remember details about her. whether it was her now, then, or her in the future. she couldn't help but wonder if heâd remember her that easily too.
"you think i'd raise them right?" you hummed in agreement.
"well knowing you, they'd be the first kid to never hurt another." she chuckled. you could feel her laugh vibrating from her body.
âyou think too highly of me.â she jokes.
âitâs hard not to.â you tease her back, she rolls her eyes at you. you chuckle in response.
âhey, i hope this- me and ed thing getting serious isnât bothering you too much.â oh god did he say something to her? you tried to have your face remain neutral.
âno, not at all. why would it?â she looked at you, eyebrow raised and all.
âwe spend everyday together. now i spend most of my days with him. i wouldn't be surprised if it does.â you let out your best convincing laugh.
âseriously? lorraine, heâs your boyfriend. i'm not offended youâve cut spending time with me to be with him. yeah, i miss being with you all the time but i understand. and hey, you still hang out with me. thatâs completely enough for me.â you reassure her with a smile. you wish you could tell her the way you actually feel about the situation. but the regret faded when you can see her get peppy and smiley again.
âso glad youâre not the possessive type.âÂ
âyou wish.â you tease, making her nudge you to the side with a laugh.
"but if you get married," you start, your voice playful.
"what? you'd object- throw your shoe at the altar?" her tone wasn't serious. it was light, humorous, all the components you needed to joke around. though you couldn't help but think she wasn't entirely wrong. but you simply laughed along with her. doing your best to ease your mind. it's not like it was hard for you to smile when you were with her anyway.
"hey, you joke but i might just" you made her chuckle even more. and you swear you could look at her smile for years.
"what? is that so ridiculous?" the smile on your lips was almost audible in your voice.
"you'd be willing to lose your dignity just like that?" the smile was still adorning her lips while her eyebrows were furrowed lightly, looking at you as if trying to decipher if you were bluffing.
"better than losing you." you were still smiling, albeit with a linger of melancholia at the thought. you couldn't help but notice her smile mirrored yours. until it faded completely, leaving just her subtly furrowed brows and building frown. you'd realized you might've said something wrong. so you turned your face away from her to stare at the grass in front of you. but she didn't budge. eyeing you as if you'd just said the most interesting thing in the world. you didn't dare take your words back.
instead you let her process them. letting a minute of silence engulf you both until she spoke again.
"you'd still lose me. and my respect. you'd lose me regardless" at this you turned your head back to her. you tried to ignore that she subconsciously admitted that you'd lose her in this situation. no matter what happens. still the thought lingered in your mind for a while.
"that's fine. then at least i'd lose you knowing that i didn't lose you to someone that doesn't make you happy." she didn't reply to that. looking off to the side before turning back to you.
"does he?" she raised an eyebrow before realizing you were asking if he made her happy. another passing moment of silence. the hesitation to answer gave you the real answer very quickly. but she'd deny it. she couldn't admit he didn't, at least not in the way she wanted him too. she couldn't admit nobody's made her as happy as she was each time she was around you.Â
So she nodded. it was impossible for her to lie to you verbally. too scared to look you in the eye, she looked to the view beside you.
"then i'll forever hold my peace" she took in your words and almost regretted lying. for some odd reason she wanted you to know he doesn't make her happy. she doesn't know why. maybe deep down she wants you to destroy her wedding one day. maybe she wanted you to profess your love to her in formal attire while she stood in the chapel wearing a white gown.
"but he doesn't-" a deep sigh. your brows furrowed.
"he does. just not the way i had in mind" not the way you do.Â
"nobody's perfect" your smile was tight and forced. her eyes were glazed over as she looked at you.Â
âyou are.â you chuckle. the truth behind her words went through you. you always denied the off chance sheâd love you back. she was just being nice.
âthen itâs too bad iâm not him.â she frowned. maybe in some universe you were. but the chance of being together in another universe provided no comfort to you or her. what was the use if you wouldnât be satisfied in this universe?
she clicked her tongue as she opened her mouth to take a big breath and let it out in a sigh. she turned her head back to the scene in front of the both of you and you followed suit, letting her rest her head on your shoulder.Â
connecticut was cold. but it was too bad she wasnât yours to keep warm.

đŒWord count - 3.4k (WHAT?!)
đŒNotes - OH MY GOD, you don't know how much time I've spent writing this like 3k words???? that's just crazy. also, i wrote this in several classes at school, sorry arturo, montse and chus đđŒ and this is dedicated to carolina who tried to peek into the story and i didn't let her, luv ya bubs
Having her own shop was a dream and a nightmare at the same time for Y/n L/n. Paying the bills, keeping the flowers beautiful the whole day through, being all day on her feet or dealing with rude costumers were all things Y/n wished she could get rid of. But at the same time, she truly loved her job. Being able to surround herself with flowers was a dream come true, and seeing a smile on the face of a happy customer really made her day. Plus, the shop was in a strategic place in Los Angeles where sometimes famous people came through, and she even had a few celebrities who were usual shoppers. Lucy Dacus stopped from time to time to buy flowers in order to dry them, and considered Y/n a friend. Pedro Pascal always bought flowers for his sister from Y/n, and Ashton Irwin loved to stop by for a chat about how to keep his plants as beautiful as Y/nâs. So, Y/n shouldnât fall easily for a star, right?
It was a slow day, so Y/n busied herself rearranging flowers on the back of the shop. She was calmly arranging a bouquet of lilies when she heard the bell on top of the door and a pair of shoes rushing in. Curious about who would come bursting in like that, she lowered the volume of the Glenn Miller vinyl that was playing on the background and stepped into the front of the shop while cleaning her hands on her apron. She then saw a person looking like they had run for 10 kilometres, with curls sticking to their red face, and trying to catch some air.
âHi.â Y/n said calmly âCan I help you with something?â she asked. âYeah, I think you would be unbelievably helpful right nowâ they said, making Y/n chuckle amused. âTell me, what can I do for you?â she said, taking her notebook out, just in case she needed to write something down. The person standing on the other side of the counter leaned a bit on it and tried to arrange the curls around their head. âItâs my mumâs birthday, and Iâve been so busy that I completely forgot about buying her something, and I love her very much I canât just not buy her anything, and Iâm meeting her tonight, I canât show up empty handedâ they said without stopping, catching a quick deep breath â. So Lucy told me to come here and say to you that she sent me and that you could arrange something with flowers that have meaning for, like⊠now⊠could you?â they finished, looking expectantly at Y/n. The girl just blinked a few times, taking all the information in. âWhich Lucy sent you?â she asked, testing the personâs connection to her, not truly trusting them yet, even though they looked like a decent person to her. âUmmm⊠Lucy Dacus?â they said, with caution. Y/n visibly lighted up, smiling at the thought of the black haired girl recommending her to her friends. âWell, you shouldâve started with that.â She said, turning around and starting to walk to the back of the shop, turning around again to gesture to the still nameless person to follow her back.
If the front of the shop was a dream, full of aromatic plants and antique furniture, the back of it was another level of etherealism. Besides another huge amount of plants and flowers, one wall was a window wall, made out of old looking stained glass of art déco style. There was a table with two chairs were Y/n would have tea, sometimes with someone else, and behind the table there was a bookshelf with heaps of books about flowers and their care and meanings. In the middle of the room there was a worktable with a few half-arranged bouquets of lilies of different colours. Y/n moved with ease around the space, and she turned to face the stranger once she got to the workbench, only to find said stranger with their mouth half opened in awe.
âAre you okay?â Y/n asked, slightly amused with the reaction she was witnessing. The stranger blinked a few times as if to come out of some sort of trance, and responded after centering themselves in the conversation again âYeah, yeah, fineâ they said, making Y/nâs smile a bit brighter. âIâm Naomi, by the wayâ the stranger said, finally giving a name to the curious person. âOh, yeas, from Muna, right?â Y/n said, eliciting a nod from Naomi. âLucy has told me so much about all of you, I donât know how I couldnât recognize you the moment you walked inâ she said, making Naomi smile a bit. âShe really talks about me to you?â Naomi asked, feeling a wave of affection for their friend. âYeah, she talks about all of you all the timeâ Y/n said, giggling a bit â. I almost feel like I know you personally sometimes, although meeting you in person makes me realize she forgot to mention some thingsâ she said, standing behind the working table and moving the flowers around to make space for others. âLike what?â Naomi asked, furrowing their brows, thinking that maybe they had given a terrible first impression, when they had been mesmerized with Y/n since they had seen her. The girl standing opposite to them smiled at them coyly before saying nonchalantly âFor starters, she forgot to mention you are even more handsome on real life than on pictures.â The comment made the curly haired blush, not expecting the sweet looking florist to be so flirty and straightforward.
Naomiâs reaction made Y/n giggle, feeling like she couldnât stop smiling around them. She didnât know where the confidence to be so bold had come from, either. She then decided to stop messing around and get to work. âSoâ she said, clearing her throat before continuing ÂŽÂŽ, what did you want for your mum?â Naomi shook their head for a second, pulling themselves together about the flirty comment from before, and answered the question âI truly donât know, I just want to tell her I love her, and flowers seemed like a good optionâ they said, being truly bad at flowers. âSo you want to send a message with these flowersâ Y/n said, looking at Naomi attentively. âYeah, basicallyâ they answered, doubting a bit about the rightness of their answer. âWell, if you want I can arrange a bouquet with flowers that mean that you love herâ Y/n smiled, always loving to do bouquets with deep meanings. âDo you mean flowers mean something specific?â Naomi asked, making Y/n clutch her pearls in feigned offense. âOf course they do! Thatâs my job youâre talking about!â she said, making Naomi laugh. Y/n smiled and walked over to the bookshelf, picking up and old-looking book, with a pink cover and golden details.
Y/n sat down on one of the chairs of the table, signalling Naomi to sit in the other one. The florist browsed through the book, in which Naomi could only see beautiful illustrations and paragraphs of what they could guess was information about the flowers in the other page. When Y/n finally had all the information she needed, she closed the book and looked up, only to find the curly haired brunet already looking at her. This discovery made the girl blush and Naomi look away immediately, embarrassed about being caught. Y/n decided not to panic, clearing her throat before speaking âI think Iâve found the ideal flowersâ she said â. If you follow me, I can show them to youâ she continued, while standing up, already blushing a bit again. Where had all the previous confidence gone? The person now standing in front of her was truly messing with her emotions, and they had only met for roughly 25 minutes, even less.
Y/n waltzed around the room picking up flowers, oblivious to the mesmerized client who was following her. She picked up the flowers and explained their meanings to Naomi âWhite carnations mean purity, love and beauty; the azaleas are a symbol of womanhood in China, and they are a symbol of love; daisies symbolize purity and innocence; and camellias represent gratitude and longevityâ Although Naomi seemed like they were just hypnotized about the girlâs beauty, her words were also enthralling to them. After coming back with the flowers to the worktable, Y/n asked Naomi about their opinion, at which they could only stutter an OK, making the girl working in the bouquet blush and giggle.
When she finished the bouquet, the mixture of carnations, daisies, azaleas and camellias looked beautiful. Y/nâs talent was something that had Naomiâs mouth open in amazement. Their head couldnât wrap around the fact that two hands and a few flowers had given such result, the floristâs talent oozing from every aspect of the bouquet. Besides from the big possibility of their mum loving the bouquet, Naomi had also fallen in love with the care and talent Y/n had shown making it. Maybe they had also fallen for the hands responsible of such beauty, and the person who controlled them with so much grace.
Y/n finished wrapping the bouquet, not really wanting Naomi to leave her shop. But she knew she couldnât stop a big ass pop star that surely wasnât going to fall for her. âI think this is finishedâ she said, nerves flowing through her whole body. âWe can go to the front nowâ she continued, now moving to the front of the shop, bouquet in hand. While Naomi paid with her card, Y/n finished preparing the gift. When she turned around to get the business card she always gave out to first time clients, she hesitated when deciding what complimentary flower to give to Naomi. She finally chose a lavender coloured rose. She nervously put the flower and the card in a bag with the flowers. She didnât know why she was so shaken, Naomi probably didnât share her feelings; for fuckâs sake, they had known each other for something more than an hour. When Y/n gave the bag to Naomi their fingers brushed ever so slightly, which resulted in different reactions; Y/n let out a sigh, while Naomi froze immediately. When the florist realized they had spent more time than necessary in that position, she put her hand back as Naomiâs suddenly burned. They just blinked a few times, blushed, turned back and marched through the door mustering a rushed thanks and a farewell. Y/n sighed when Naomi was finally out, leaning on the counter and placing her head between her hands. What a naĂŻve thought, that someone like Naomi McPherson could ever like someone like her. Now, she just had to move on, and try to forget about them.
Lucy Dacus had decided to have a quiet night. She had a nice dinner, placed a few candles and played some soft background music. She then picked up her current read, and with a cup of a delicious tea that Y/n had suggested her, she got ready to relax, plunging down on the armchair she loved the most. That relaxing, though, didnât last long, as she heard the doorbell ring. She groaned, detangling herself and getting up to open the door. If it was her annoying neighbour again, she was ready to throw hands. However, when she opened the door, there was no nosy neighbour on the other side; instead, Naomi was there, nervously biting her nails, and looking a bit miserable. âNaomi? What are you doing here? Are you okay?â Lucy asked, worried about her friendâs state. âWhere the fuck did you send me?â they just said, spreading their arms exasperated. âWhat?â Lucy just said, sincerely confused. Seeing as the only answer from Naomi was a pair of widened eyes, which lead to Lucy sighing and moving from the door, signalling Naomi to come in. Goodbye, quiet night.
After a cup of tea, Naomi had calmed down, and they had told Lucy about those afternoon events. âAnd when I finished dinner with my mum I needed to vent, and as you were the one who told me to go to her, I justâŠâ they finished, trailing down at the end. Lucy nodded in understanding, not needing to hear more from her friend before concluding âSo basically, you fell head over heels for her and you think she doesnât correspond your feelingsâ. Naomi just mustered a âyeahâ while dropping their head in defeat. Lucy nodded again, leaning back on the armchair she was sitting in. âWell, we can kind of know how she feels about youâ she said, smiling softly, making Naomi shoot their head up, waiting for a solution for their problems. âDid you keep the flower she gave you with her card?â Lucy said, already knowing the answer. Naomi slowly reached for a pocket in their jacket, taking out a lavender rose. Lucy got up and moved towards a shelf next to a window, where she saw rain starting to pour. She took a book from the shelf, under the curious stare of her friend. The book was a Victorian guide to flower meanings, which Lucy had somehow managed to thrift. She looked through the book sat on the armchair again. She could feel Naomi biting their nails and looking nervously at her. Finally, she found it. âIt says here that lavender roses meanâŠâ Lucy stopped, looking kindly at the meaning âItâs a flower that represents enchantment love at first sightâ she said, looking again at Naomi, whose mouth was now partly opened in shock and eyes completely opened. They quickly recomposed and started shaking their head in denial. âCome on, Dacus, stop playingâ they said, not believing what Lucy was saying. âIâm notâ Lucy replied, showing the book to them. Naomi was feeling a weird mix of emotions, between shock, denial and complete confusion, with a tint of utter affection. Was this some kind of sick and twisted joke?
Naomi got up and started pacing Lucyâs living room, not sure about what that really meant. They knew they had liked Y/n, call it love at first sight if you feel like it, but something had bloomed in that flower shop, and not only the plants. Lucy closed the book and laid back, deciding to leave Naomi to walk around and calm down. They finally did, sitting across Lucy again. Taking a deep breath, the curly haired talked for the first time in the last few minutes, breaking the silence that had settled itself on the room, mixed with the sound of drops of the still pouring rain. âWhat do you think I should do?â they asked Lucy for advice, with a hint of somewhat fear on their voice. âI canât decide anything for youâ Lucy said, shaking their head. âIâm not asking for instructions, Luce, I want your opinionâ Naomi said, in a soft tone. Lucy sighed and leaned towards her friend âDo you like Y/n?â she asked, not really expecting a forward answer. âYeah, I think I doâ Naomi said with a sincere voice, astounding Lucy, who blinked and talked again. âDo you want to tell her that?â âI think I doâ they replied again. Lucy questioned Naomi for a third time âI have her address. Do you want me to give it to you?â she said, and spoke again before Naomi could say anything âAnd donât say that you think you doâ she half-threatened. Her friend closed their mouth, opening it not much of a second later âI truly want her addressâ Lucy nodded, getting up to write it on a blue piece of paper. When she finished, she folded it and gave it to Naomi, who was standing up, nervously playing with their fingers. The moment they had the paper, they gave a heartfelt hug to Lucy, and then sprinted to the door. Lucy saw them get into their car and smiled softly. She didnât mind a night not so quiet if it was for the sake of romance.
Y/n was laying on her couch, one feet dangling off it. She laid there, looking at pictures of Naomi on Pinterest, although if someone asked, she was reading the Rilke book that was now laying on the coffee table next to her. She sighed, turning her phone off and keeping to staring to the ceiling. How was she so stupid that she had been so enchanted by someone who had been in her store for an hour. She stood up and picked up the book, deciding it was enough pining for someone she probably would never see again. She read a few pages, but didnât last long before putting the book in her lap and looking out the window. She looked at the pouring rain, which she loved. She knew she should hate the rain, but she loved the romanticism of it all, even though she knew she would never have her ever so idyllic love confession in the rain.
Just as she was lost on her thoughts, Y/n heard the doorbell ring. She wondered who the hell would be knocking at that time in the night, even more with that terrible weather, which truly didnât invite to going out. She kept wondering who it could be as she walked to the door, expecting to see a neighbour or someone trying to sell her some stupid product. However, the only person she found waiting outside of her house was a drenched Naomi. Y/nâs eyes opened wide as she took the sigh in, with her breath getting caught in her throat.
Y/n talked, although the lump she felt on her throat made it a bit difficult. âWhat are you doing here?â she said, not being able to move herself from her spot on the door entrance. âI needed to see youâ they said, with a tint of hopelessness in their voice. Y/n felt like flowers were blooming in her stomach, with the leaves and petals tickling her stomach. âHow did you know where I lived?â Y/n asked again, nerves now flowing through her system. Naomi looked a bit guilty before answering âLucy gave it to me, I asked her for itâ. Y/n made a mental note of scolding her later, but asked the last question she couldnât stop pondering about. âAnd why did you want to see me, Naomi?â she said, not sure if she wanted to hear the response. Naomi breathed deeply before replying. âI like youâ they said, making Y/nâ world turn upside down in a matter of microseconds. She tried to calm down her breath, that was now working, but too fast for anyoneâs liking.
However, Naomi misinterpreted the silence, thinking that Y/n was somewhat outraged by the statement, apologizing while moving back to what Y/n suspected was their car âIâm sorry, this was a mistakeâ. Y/n snapped back then, following Naomi to their car with a quick pace âNaomi, wait!â she said, trying to get Naomi to look at her. The curly haired, which hair was now not so curly as it was soaked and stuck to their face, turned around and looked at her with a pained look on their face. Y/n tried to find the words, but they seemed to be stuck to the walls of her throat. Naomi exhaled, turning back once more to unlock their car. Seeing as the opportunity of confessing was slipping through her fingers, Y/n decided to take matter in her own hands⊠literally. She got closer to Naomi and took their face into their hands, pulling them in for a kiss. The kiss was short and sweet, and Y/n pulled away to see what reaction that had elicited from Naomi. They just stared at Y/n with a look of shock on their face, that didnât last so long, as their brain decided to finally act. Naomi took Y/n face in her hands and kissed her again, now deepening the kiss. The moment under the rain seemed to last forever, as both their hearts synchronized in loud thumps. When they finally pulled away from one another, the rain kept pouring over them with an astounding force that seemed to mimic the strength of their feelings for one another. They were both soaked as they stood outside of Y/nâs house, smiling to each other like the infatuated idiots that they were.
âI liked the flowerâ Naomi said, still not getting away from one another. Y/n laughed, touching her forehead with Naomiâs. âIt was not as subtle as I intended it to, I guessâ she said, making Naomi laugh now. âI liked it better that wayâ they voiced, giving a small kiss to the side of Y/n lips. It that was a dream, they both hope they would never wake up.

Warnings: sadness and cheating
Summary: In which you were the other women
wc: 1.8k + the lyrics
The first time I tasted somebody else's spit, I had a coughing fit
I mistakenly called them by your name
I was let down, it wasn't the same
I'm doing fine, trying to derail my one-track mind
Regaining my self-worth in record time
But I can't help but think of your other in the bed that was mine
The day Ellie Williams asked you out was truly the best day of your life.
It all started with small smiles, gentle touches and loving gazes. You knew from the first day you laid eyes on Ellie, that you wanted to be with her. And never in a million dreams did you think that you stood a chance with someone as beautiful such as Ellie.
You didn't regret asking her for her number. You didn't regret saying yes when she asked you on a date that day. But the more you think about it, the more realized maybe you shouldâve said no.
"Hi I'm Ellieâs girlfriend, is she here today?" The girl asked with a smile on her face.
 oh.
Girlfriend?
Ellie was never mentioned anything about a girlfriend to you.
Fuck.
"Oh hey Cat" you heard Ellieâs voice from behind you. You turned around and you and the autumn brown haired girl made eye contact.
Ellieâs eyes widened when she saw you were talking to Cat, but her shock was soon replaced by her signature smirk.
"Hi babe" Cat greeted Ellie cheerfully "can we talk?" She asked. Ellie gave her a quick nod as she walked out from behind the counter. As Ellie and cat walked away she reached down to grab the girls hand and if felt like you've been stabbed.
You quickly excused yourself and you ran down the hall in the storage room where you and Ellie would always meet each other.
Holy shit.
She had a girlfriend? What? You thought she liked you?
You and Ellie were never official, but you went on dates. You held hands. You kissed her for fucks sake. You were the other women. Ellie didn't care for you as much as you thought. She was using you.
You heard the door handle of the storage room rattle. You looked up and you quickly wiped away your tears: "Ellie?" You questioned, with a hopeful voice.
"No it's me!" You heard Dinaâs voice yelled back. "Ellie went home with her girlfriend so you'll have to take her shift"
You let out a sigh as you felt the tears flow freely once again.
You were supposed to be mad at her. You were supposed to hate her. But you called out for her? You would never admit it out loud but you were actually waiting for her. You were waiting for Ellie to come and apologize and to say that this was all a misunderstanding.  You silently sat there crying.
 You were the other women.
Am I a masochist, resisting urges to punch you in the teeth?
Call you a bitch and leave?
Why did I come here? To sit and watch you stare at your feet?
What was the plan? Absolve your guilt and shake hands?
If you truly hated Ellie like you claimed you did, you wouldn't have opened your apartment door that night.
That one faithful evening in September, when you heard a knock on your door.
âWho the fuck could that be?â you muttered to yourself as you got up from bed rubbing your eyes.
You look over to your phone if see it's 1:00am. You yawned as you walked to the front door. You opened it and your eyes were met with the girl who broke your heart all those months ago.
The girl you thought you would be spending the rest of your life with.
She looked at you, her normally neat hair was a messy, dark circles under her eyes.
god you thought you looked bad.
"What are you doing here Ellie?" You asked.
She could've come to you a long time ago and suddenly she shows up? What does she want? Does she want to get back together? Is she here to beg for forgiveness?
"Jesse told me that you were serious when you said you wanted to work the night shift" she spoke, as she brought her right hand up to awkwardly scratch the back of her neck.
You didnât know if you wanted to punch her or kiss her.
Ellieâs gaze fell down to her feet and the two of you were surrounded by silence.
Since when is it so quite at 1 in the morning?
"Why are you here?" You finally asked again.
Ellie looked up at you once again. She hesitated. She opened and closed her mouth a couple of times. The words weren't coming out.
âshe's so fucking patheticâ you thought to yourself.
"Are you here to apologize? To make yourself feel better?", you spoke again.
Ellie looked taken aback, her facial expression morphed into a face of confusion? Hurt? You couldn't tell.
"I love you-" Ellie started, you let out a laugh even before she could finish.
"If you loved me, why was I the other women?" You questioned.
Ellie fell silent. She stared at you. She was at a loss for words. How could you say such a thing? You knew nothing about her situation. You didn't know that she can Cat had been in a loveless relationship for years. You didn't know how much she loved you. You didn't know how alive you made her feel.
Ellie was brought back to reality when you spoke: "You can't even fucking speak to me".
You let out a sigh as you took a step back to close the door. Ellieâs large hand reached out to try and stop it, but you were too quick. You closed the door in her face. Ellie put her forehead against your front door as tears streamed down her cheeks. She heard your voice from behind the door:
"You are such a fucking bitch Williams"
Ellie turned away from your door, her hand gripping her shirt as she started sobbing.
Loud sounds of crying filled the quite streets of Jackson as Ellie stood at your door realizing that she lost you.
I feel no need to forgive, but I might as well
But let me kiss your lips, so I know how it felt
Pay for my coffee and leave before the sun goes down
Walk for hours in the dark, feeling all hell
"I think I should start working the night shift" you told Jesse one morning.
"dude I thought you hated it"
You went quite for a moment. You did hate it. But you couldn't stand working another shift looking at Ellie. Even being in her presence made your heart yearn for her. If feels like you've been starved for years without Ellieâs touch. And you fear that even if your finger just lightly touched her you'd lose your mind.
You already felt guilty enough when you found out Ellie had a girlfriend, you didn't want to make a fool out of yourself by confessing your undying love to her.
You walked out of Jesse's office and into the locker room. Ellie was in there. You walked right past her, going to your locker you quickly pulled out your bag.
"Wait our shifts are starting right now, where are you going?" She questioned.
"I'm working the night shift from now on" you replied as you made your way to the door. You felt so cold hand grab your wrist and when you turned around and you were met with Ellieâs pleading eyes.
"If you work night shift I won't be able to see you" she spoke softly.
You forcefully removed your arm from Ellieâs grip.
"go see your fucking girlfriend"
You turned away from Ellie, walking to the door and you stopped. It was as if your feet were glued to the floor. You slowly turned around to face Ellie once again.
"I'll never be able to forgive you" you muttered softly and you looked at the girl you had so much love for.
"Please try" Ellie begged.
"I'll leave her" Ellie quickly reasoned with you, to make you stay.
You shook your head as you dropped your bag onto the floor. You made your way towards Ellie as you once again muttered âI can't fucking forgive you" as you wrapped your arms her neck, her lips soon crashed into yours.
The kiss was intense. You've been starved from Ellie, and this was your first taste in months.
Teeth crashing into each other, heavy breathes filled the room, and hands were roaming.
You pulled away and you looked at Ellie for the last time.
Her eyes blown wide, her lips swollen her chest rapidly rising.
You once again moved from her grip as you picked up your bag.
You stood the door once more. Before you walked out the door you turned to Ellie one last time, giving her a small "I love you" was the last words she ever spoke to you.
Don't hold your breath, forget you ever saw me at my best
You don't deserve what you don't respect
Don't deserve what you say you love and then neglect
Now bite your tongue, it's too dangerous to fall so young
Take back what you said
Can't lose what you never had
You don't even know why you're upset. Why were you so fucking depressed over a relationship that never even happened?
All you do is fantasize over a relationship that wasn't even real.
What you could've been. And you know you were being delusional when you thought you had a chance with her, and yet you still fell for her.
But we all learn the hard way don't we?
You can't be sad over something that wasn't even yours to being with.
All you had to do was suck it up and get to work. You'd eventually get over Ellie. And you'd be happy again, right?
As much as you try to convince yourself, you aren't so sure you can see a happy life without Ellie.
The girl you thought was your soulmate.
You got a 9-to-5, so I'll take the night shift
And I'll never see you again, if I can help it
In five years, I hope the songs feel like covers
Dedicated to new lovers
"Are you sure you want to take the night shift?" Jesse asked you one last time.
"I'm sure" you replied
Even though you hated the night shift it got you away from Ellie. You didn't have to see her at your workplace. You don't have to constantly be reminded about what the two of you could've been.
"Remember Ellie will come in at 9 tomorrow" Jesse yelled as he walked out the front door of the Café. He gave you a small wave, as the bell chimed when the door finally closed.
"yeah I know" you yelled back.
You hoped that one day you'd stop working the night shift.
And maybe, just maybe you'd be able to move on from Ellie.
But till then you'd rather torture yourself than to be in the same room as Ellie fucking Williams.
Authors note: guess who disappeared and whos suddenly back again? obviously me.... remember you are loved and to always be kind, my requests are always open
yours truly,
Zia<3

Eddie Munson (46) and Y/n L/n (25) were seen getting very cozy at The Grammy's this past weekend. Sitting next to Taylor Swift, as well as Lana Del Rey, it seems the 'Nonsense' singer's friends get along great with the rock legend.
The couple were both up for their own separate awards, Munson being up for Rock Album with 'In Times New Roman...' by Queen of the Stone Age, having been the main producer on several songs. As well as 'Not Strong Enough' by Boygenius, a group Eddie had publicly wanted to work with since their first EP, and finally having that time this past year.
L/n was up for Record of the Year with her song 'Feather', winning her first Grammy. The couple shared a cute moment, with a hug and a kiss, before she got a big hug from friend and mentor, Taylor Swift, then running up on stage; mentioning both in her speech. As well as winning Music Video for, again, her song 'Feather'.
The couple also didn't miss Eddie Munson's son, Leo Munson, getting a few awards that night also. The man worked with Boygenius, producing and winning Alternative Album, as well as beating his father in Rock Album, with 'This Is Why' by Paramore.
All around a very successful night for the couple, as one of their first fully public engagements together.
