“I sense pain within you, Ekria, but just know you are loved by many. I see it everyday, you are adored, you are wanted. And if you ever need a safe place to stay, you are always welcomed at my castle.” The monarch rumbles, smiling kindly.

The gentle clock of talons no longer came as a surprise to the bard, the sudden scooping feeling like little more than a nostalgic memory as they sat knees to chest in the palm of Alex’s hand. Talons which they feared so long ago they now find comfort in, arms half-heartedly wrapping around to give some semblance of a hug. It wasn’t hard to tell they were feeling low, but Alex’s presence— looking, big, but comforting, was exactly what they needed after feeling so incredibly small.

Tears trickle down their face as they lean in, rubbing their fluffy cheek against one of his sharp talons. It wasn’t much, but it was all they could offer to thank him for being there in their time of need. “…Thank you, Alex.” they murmur softly, wiping away tears with their sleeve. “It’s hard t’ believe how often I forget that.”
