I was watching some videos on MK11/aftermath, and one YouTuber mentioned how he thought having Jax's redemption with Raiden in MK11 and again with Fujin in Aftermath was unnecessary, because why would we need to see it twice?
I kinda agree with that, but I always saw those scenes as more telling for Raiden and Fujin as characters and as brothers.
In Jax's moment with Raiden, Raiden uses more of a, I suppose, "logical" approach. He tells Jax things that help him understand the real situation and help him open his eyes to the lies he was told. Raiden revealing Shinnok as Cetrion's brother makes things click together, and realizations happen to bring Jax back to the light side.
In Fujin's case however, he uses an emotional tactic to show he can relate to Jax and understands his feelings of duty and protection, even using Fujin's own family experience with Raiden as an example because he knows family is what’s most important for Jax. He uses his heart to appeal to Jax, and it brings him back.
I could of course be overlooking this, and it really was unnecessary to show Jax's redemption twice, but I love analyzing the storm brothers, and I wanted to spend more time exploring Raiden's character as I’m trying to get a better understanding of it, but idk, these scenes feel very telling to me, and I wanted to ramble so..
