I wonder how he’d react if this unknown mortal lover died after some time, either naturally of old age or because of something related to him. Either his negativity aura becoming too much for a mortal, or the village nearby catching wind and attempting to do a repeat of what happened in Dreamtale; either causing his lover to die either defending him or as punishment, or perhaps he just leaves the area and never finds out what happened to them.

look im happy to get another show and im open to watching it and i will give it a chance.

but some stuff in the trailers really rubs me the wrong way.

april saying "isnt your whole thing a costume" in reference to ...just their bodies is icky and im dissapointed her kinda being mean to them is gonna continue. like- its not an initial shock thing like with 2003 and 2012 april its just "sure we're friends but im gonna call out how different you are even though your WHOLE goal is to fit in and be accepted.". i like her design and her story seems interesting and i hope she gets a real arc unlike a lot of aprils but like- the comments are un-necessary and it feels like shes making fun of them instead of being a supportive friend. [if theres an episode where the guys get fed up and talk to her, possibly having a lesson about expressing to your friends when youre uncomfortable with what they do then ill be overjoyed because that message NEEDS to be in kids shows and it would clarify april just didnt know it bothered them and would tone it down because she doesnt wanna hurt her friends]

in a trailer the others got praise and when it was mikeys turn someone was like "oh what do you do?" and mikey doesnt have a real answer. as a mikey fan i just cannot stand the constant dismissal he gets. if the series is gonna expand on that and take it seriously im totally in though.

i didnt mind the movie artstyle. its not something i enjoy and it kinda gave me a headache in theaters but objectivly there is nothing weong with it and a lot of work and talent was put into it. the show style is...ehhh? i dont like it. i dont hate it. i dont really enjoy the color palette. its not appealing to me and an art style can really change how much i enjoy a show.

and why does leo sound so much older. i cant be the only one hearing that right? like i know thats fairly standard for the shows but the movie had all this hype about the guys sounding and acting their age so???

and structure wise i feel like this is going to feel more like kim possible and spiderman instead of tmnt? cause like ...a HUGE part has always been theyre a secret and they work in the shadows cause theyre ninjas and now theyre just in the open. im ok with change- all franchizes NEED to change and adapt but im not gonna get hopeful till i see it done well int he actual show

hello! havent done these in a while. im currently "extremely unemployed" lol well see if i go back and do any of the previous months i skipped ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ i think its nice to force myself to summarize my thoughts like this

BOOKS: the tyrant baru cormorant by seth dickinson: most recent book in the masquerade series, which is a thriller (?) about the mechanics of empire. dude this book was so great. no notes. there were some incredibly gratifying payoffs in here and some craaazy twists. idk i wish i had something more to say i just thought it was really really good im glad that baru gets to have some good things as well as bad. of course, seth dickinson has amazing prose and the ending was so like, uplifting? and inspiring? i was very surprised lol

when the angels left the old country by sacha lamb: queer jewish immigrant YA, apparently for fans of good omens. an angel and a demon from a small, small town go to america to track down one of the town's mising daughters. despite neither being a gomens fan (although i did read it) nor jewish, i really enjoyed this! it has a dreamy, fairytale, eva ibbotson-like tone to it that made it a pleasure to read, despite the somewhat foreboding topic (let's all have a fun time on ellis island while visibly jewish!) the stories of the humans and the non-humans feel equally important, but i really especially enjoyed the way the angel changed over time as a response to the world it saw. its just a really nice book :3

long live evil by sarah rees brennan: villainess isekai, but western tradpub. a woman dying from cancer at a young age is given the chance to live again--as a two-bit floozy villainess the day before her execution?! how will rae find a way out? and how well, really, does she remember the time of iron? sarah rees brennan is sort of a comfort author to me; in other lands meant a Lot to me as a mentally ill teenager. all the same, i almost dropped this book during the first couple of chapters. in my opinion, this book has a REALLY rough start that evened out into a ride that i enjoyed quite a bit despite many other factors. while some parts of the part are clearly deeply personal (this is the author's first book published after recovering from late stage cancer), it also has a tendency to hammer in its points over and over again and undercuts too many serious moments with quippy dialogue in a way that deflates tension rather than increasing it. also, one b-couple takes clear inspiration from one of her previous works (but this time more #toxic --they kill each other in time of iron) and as a result unfortunately outshines the main couple at times, who also have to share screentime with a huge cast that often feels improperly balanced. but also, i thought the main couple was pretty cute, actually! the ending twist, while not unpredictable (and also very, uh, danmei?) was also very enjoyable and nice to let creep up on you. i feel like i'm being more strict with it than i am with a lot of villainess isekai i read though, haha… i agree with ineedacatchyname's review of it (and a lot of these thoughts just echo theirs. woops!)--a lot of this could be fixed with a bit more editing, but ultimately i spent the second half unable to put it down and i'm still going to read the sequel.

against football by steve almond: fairly short nonfiction. one diehard football fan's searing condemnation of the state of american football today (and what we could do to make it better). this was recommended to me by megafaunatic, and i really enjoyed it :3 i come from a pretty "ugh, sportsball" type of family, and so it was really interesting to see why people love watching football (especially a team as "wretched" as the former oakland raiders) as well as playing it--but also how the continuation of football in its current state is pretty much inexcusable (one bright side is that division i graduation rates have actually gone up quite a bit since this book was published in 2016!) id easily recommend to both football fans and non-fans.

GAMES: pikmin bloom: pikmin bloom is a game about walking around, growing pikmin, and planting virtual flowers. i didnt play this game for a while bc i was like "well, its pokemon go but with pikmin -_-" and like. it is. but niantic has also taken the opportunity to overhaul a lot of its base game mechanics with a focus on actually getting you to GO OUTSIDE and WALK AROUND, which i think is to its benefit! like, yeah it actually did get me to go on some walks when i wouldnt have otherwise. the microtransactions kinda suck but as long as youre willing to kill your darlings (pikmin) its fine i think. < guy with a very high deathcount in pikmin 3 and 4

return of the obra dinn: stylized mystery game about unpacking what happened in a scaaary voyage by seeing the moment surrounding the crewmembers' deaths. dude. this game is so fucking good. it was like everyones goty in 2018 and as soon as i finished it i was like "i wish i could get hit in the head so i could play it again." imo, its a really good game to play as a group (with one person driving) bc so much of the gameplay takes place outside of the game--deducing, speculating, etc and it's really fun to do that as a conversation with someone else! the game does a good job of disincentivizing random guessing--when i played this game with my family, we did guess on a couple but it was almost always a 50-50 "choice A or choice B". and the game can (apparently) be completed without any chance guesswork whatsoever! can be a little gory at times, but its all in this sort of dithery monochrome style so you don't really think about it until you're walking to the bathroom in the halflit moonlight and youre kinda like hey this kinda looks like return of the obra dinn haha. wait. anyways play this game!!

unpacking: cute little game about unpacking/moving in during the various phases of one person's life. probably a masterclass in "environmental storytelling" that invites you into making your own stories for our unseen protagonist while also providing these understated beautiful little moments of understanding. also, it was really theraputic getting everything perfectly placed in order when i currently live in a very messy house ;-_-

umineko chapter 2: ahhh year of umineko 2024 continues. im definitely not finishing the whole game this year (lol) but i might end up finishing the question arcs at least..? anyways ive been lbing this the whole time (#year of the seacat 2024 for blacklist) but man this was pretty harsh compared to the first episode. it even makes battler break down..! i was secretly wondering how it was going to try and turn around my opinion on rosa, but, well, i still really dont like her. has bright points in more beatrice!!! the introduction of the meta, some ???really horny??? parts and the [You are incompetent] scene. also, everyone seems to really hate george for some reason but i feel like i still dont get it.

SHOWS:

the decameron: drama about fucking and dying in black plague-era italy, and a villa meant to be a getaway from it all. in high school i wanted to read the decameron because it was mentioned in theatre of coolty--just so you know, this is nothing like it. its just really fun! and full of light intrigue and twists and reveals and tragedy. a lot of the plague-based humor hit in some pretty uncomfortable places, which the showrunners were definitely going for. neifile and panfilo hands down had my favorite relationship.

witch from mercury: revolutionary girl gundam?? this is how everyone pitched it to me, which honestly put me off a little bit. wfm is clearly aware and respectful of its predecessors but also takes the first episode to go "nah were going to do something a little different though." like, its kind of like instead of tackling rape culture it decided to tackle the military industrial complex instead ? ? i guess?? it seems like a good entry point into gundam for many (including me!) i enjoyed the first season very fun and currently watching the second. looking forward to seeing how sick and twisted things can get

in terms of music ive been listening to a lot of zerobaseone.. every time were in the car together neil is like lets listen to yurayura and im like yessss. yurayuraa oh ive also been listening to counter//weight while driving but im not going to include it bc its been slow going lol. all my thoughts about it so far is like "this is the thing neil really likes"

I havent watched the videos yet (i need more braincells for that than i have currently available) but the bit about the thing preventing evolution being on the moon and Yamato being chosen for that really rocked my boat! I always thought that in retrospect Yamato had enjoyed his adventures in the digital world and the exploring and wanted more of this explorer life style. So the next step was to became austronauts with Gabumon. And more on meta sphere i found it funny that they send the guy with the friendship crest out in space so he can make friends with potential extraterrastial life forms.

But this is why the adventure continuity is so precious to me. I know people are somewhat tired of it but the world of adventure has so much potential for many different stories, from a detective series with Ken and Iori, to political dramas with Taichi, to scifi with Yamato and Koushiro! Especially since they allowed the characters to age with its audience already, they easily make ovas about every character, their digimon and their struggle in this new half digital world. Maybe its a blessing in disguise they didnt make something like that, but damn... i would give a leg and an arm for a detective series with the 02 cast akin to the Cyber Sleuth games.

No worries, I haven't watched all of these videos either, but they're really fun for referencing, so please take all the time you need!

The interesting part with Yamato is that the writers of Tri onwards seemingly did not have these notes and tried their best to SOMEHOW make his career choices make sense. And while the course of the series STILL didn't really make it more plausible (at least in my eyes), we at least got a glimpse of his more investigative nature. And thus, what you described above could really have made for a super interesting third season of the Adventure verse. But for now, it's fun to think about all these headcanons and what they may lead to for each respective character.

I also agree, I would really love to see more of how the others would have developed. Who knows me also knows how much I dig Takeru's fanfic writing skills revolving around putting Taichi, Yamato and Koushirou in sci-fi related scenarios (because ever since Our War Game, they are basically predestined for that and Takeru KNOWS it). And yes, detective stories with Ken and Iori, political and investigative stuff with the three mentioned above could be super intriguing. I would obviously also REALLY know more about the girls, because they have been heavily underutilized (and I cannot die before I have seen Sora getting back on track again, similarly to how I physically and emotionally need to see Taichi finding happiness again). With Kakudou's notes, there are so many stories you could tell (Jyou working with Doctors Without Borders, hello???), all the struggles, growing pains, achievements and learnings, basically... Infinite potential so to speak.

We may really have to watch this as another timeline split in case it won't be congruent with the stories Tri, Kizuna and The Beginning have told, but I, just like you, really love how much variety Adventure offers. March is still so far away, but I am already feeling giddy about this PV.

That's why she looks pretty much exactly like Summer despite being Tai's child too. (this is a writing prompt, btw, not a discourse thing)

Ozpin smiled as he watched Ruby rush around the targets he had set up, his eyes staying glued to her as he watched her swing Summer’s axe. It was almost like watching Summer as the girl rushed around in a flurry of petals, slicing each target cleanly in half. He checked off a few things on his scroll, proud of the achievement. 

“Dont you think we’ve taken things a bit too far,” Glynda asked as she watched Ruby fold up her axe. “If Summer knew-” 

“We had to make sure we had a backup in case Summer died. And now that she’s missing, we can start using Ruby to defeat Salem.” 

“And that is exactly my point.” 

Ozpin sighed and lowered his scroll as she watched Ruby take a breather. Maybe he had gone too far with making sure Summer’s child was stillborn and used Atlas tech to try to revive it, making it into a clone of Summer, but it was all for the greater good. “If we didnt do this-”

“If we didnt do this, this girl could’ve been raised with her family!” Glynda said angrily. “Instead, you’ve raised her in secret to be a weapon to the grimm.”

“I needed to make sure the silver eye bloodline would continue and this was the only way.” Ozpin pressed a button on the console overlooking the training room and spoke softly into the microphone. “Ruby, you did wonderful today. You may go back to your room and rest. I’ll bring your dinner to you in a few minutes.” 

Glynda shook her head and pinched the bridge of her nose. “Her family needs to know about this. You took their daughter and turned her into a weapon.” 

“I havent turned her into a weapon,” Ozpin responded as he walked out of the control room. “I’ve kept her safe from Salem.” 

“And when are you going to let her be a child? She needs friends.” 

Ozpin sighed and walked down the hall quietly as he made his way to get something for Ruby to eat. Of course he allowed Ruby to have friends, however, she tended to keep to herself instead of making her way to those that were closer to her age. And now that she was seventeen, it was time to enroll her into Beacon and allow her to experience the world in a way her training hadnt allowed her before. He quickly grabbed a meal from the cafeteria and made his way to Ruby’s room, gently knocking on the door. “I brought you dinner.” 

“You’re late today,” Ruby said as she opened the door. “You’re never late.” 

“Professor Goodwitch had a bit more to talk to me about after your training session,” Ozpin replied as he walked in and sat the tray down on a table for her. “You did well. You’re getting better with that axe of yours.” 

Ruby nodded and sat down, looking over her food before taking a quick bite. “Its helped that you’ve let me take it apart and modify it. My mom must’ve been strong to use it. I had to change the way it locks so I can bring it back into rifle form mid swing.” 

Ozpin smiled as he watched Ruby eat, every facet of her reminding him of Summer. “Speaking of your mother, a new semester for Beacon starts soon. I was hoping that we could enroll you so you could get to know the school she went to and follow in her footsteps more.” 

Ruby paused mid bite, silver eyes almost staring into his soul. “Does… that mean I’ll have to meet the other students?” 

Ozpin gave her a small nod. “And then you can make friends with others-” 

“Then I dont want to.” 

“Someone your age should have friends to be yourself around.” 

“I’m fine on my own. Besides, arent you the one who keeps telling me that I need to be careful with who I’m around?” 

“Well, yes… but-” Ozpin stopped speaking for a moment as he realized what he had told her. “-you are still allowed to get to know others. Especially other huntsmen in training since they’ll be the ones you’ll be interacting with most.” 

“Alright,” Ruby answered in a defeated tone. “I’ll attend Beacon.” 

“I promise, all of this will make sense to you soon enough, alright?” 

“You’ve been telling me that for years.” 

“I know, but I promise you’ll be ready for what you’ve been training for.” Ozpin put a gentle hand to Ruby’s cheek and smiled at her. “Alright, my rosepetal?” 

Ruby nodded and pulled Ozpin’s hand away from her cheek. “Alright dad. Once I’m finished eating, I can go to the workshop, right? I saw a couple of weapons I liked from the huntsmen that came to visit you and I want to upgrade my axe with another form.”

“And what form did you have in mind?” 

“That one huntsman with the red cape, his sword turned into a scythe. Think I can make that work and he can train me to use it?” 

Ozpin paused for a moment, recognizing the small description of Qrow that Ruby gave. “I’m not sure he’ll have time to teach you, but I think I can put in a word to him and see if he’ll agree. But eat first. You’ll need all your strength.”

here's some background feelings: after having helped promote 2 japanese food festivals and tabled on both its artist alley's, and knowing myself, and having grown up in the age of comic/book to film adaptations and the rebootprequelsequelmagaddon, it's really hard for me not to fanart, even though i trashtalk hollywood all the time for not taking risks and doing original stuff, lo and behold, i do the same. who am i to judge _anything_ when i watched all three star wars sequels in theaters and crushed on kylux for years, i was kneedeep into hannigram, i gave money to the barbenheimer industrial complex. how can i blame RGG for not letting kiryu go when i _cried legit tears of joy_ when pirate majima was announced? (granted, it's not as bad as the kiryu situation lol but this is about ma$cots, not me lol)

i love a lot of characters, a lot of stories, im always jumping from show to show, game to game, and coming back to them. but i wanna go beyond my love for other people's art and be in love with my own, now that im at a better skill and mental state. it might not resonate as much, specially at the japanese festivals im a part of, but i wanna try. and im gonna start slow, i *am* going to draw japanese food, japanese animals, and create my tiny little scenes and see what comes up. i love stickers with every fiber of my being lol so ill always have in mind that ill draw stuff that i would wanna stick on my own sketchbooks and journals. but i need to do this, at least for 30 days. who knows what will happen later, you know? a friend of mine once said that colored pencils are like sugar, and graphite pencils are like veggies. and i feel like fanart and not-fanart is the same. we love fanart, but it's not healthy to only draw fanart... also i love people who delve into IP OCs and stuff, it always seems a lot of fun. i could try that, but i think ill cut my fanart ties cold turkey and then i can figure something out, i dont know lol i could go back to d&d character sheets lol another side note: i went to film school bc i loved watching movies. i wanted to tell stories, but i had no idea how, and i didnt think i had the talent for drawing. i started studying japanese and bullet journaling, bc i had the urge to draw, and those were the mediums that were close enough to drawing i felt i could try. and then hannibal happened, i had a roommate who was learning to watercolor, and i was like, screw it, let me draw hannigram bc i love them lol ive had the opportunity to make some movies, but logistically and creatively, they never felt as good as having the spark of inspiration, sketching, linearting, painting, printing and selling these tiny ass stickers. there is some control freakness in that, sure lol but there's also a need to build confidence in my own abilities, which sadly i didnt have a space for in movie sets... anyway, ill always mourn not having spent my teens drawing, but im making my kid self proud now <3 also i might post my new stickers at some point, i still havent made a pinned post lol but someday, you know so yeah, if anyone's reading this, ty lol TLDR: if you draw, write, sculpt, whatever, anything, and you tend to do fanart, ask yourself if you're fanarting a bit too much, if there's a way of turning your love for these characters/worlds into something different and more you.

Dead Boys Detectives final thoughts

i finished the show last night at midnight and it left me buzzing! i loved every aspect of it, Crystal's dynamic with Charles, the slow build up of Edwin's coming into the understanding of who he is and who he loves as well as the confession, i havent enjoyed a confession this good in ages where yes it took a lot of courage to get his feelings across but it looked and felt so easy for Charles to understand it and take it all in as it is and accept him and his feelings for what they are ' have forever to figure out what this is between us' just paraphrasing it since everything is all jumbled is the best open ended rejection i've seen and it's so well delivered and would have loved to see them explore it in future seasons but we all know that won't happen sadly. i loved Esther as the final boss she is just so good at delivering her lines and straight up being evil for the sake of it! yes Cat king told us the why she became a witch but that really is just that, it doesnt absolve her of all the horrors she put people through and the pleasure she gets from it. i've missed a good villain who is just that, a villain and goddamn was she a great one.

i love how the show didnt shy away from giving Crystal something to think about other than being a mary sue with powers that just come in handy at any moment but actually make her a flawed character who wasnt really someone good in the past and used her powers for her own gains, that she learnt to accept her past and work on her present as well as showcase her struggle throughout the show in getting her memories, fighting off david and failing a lot of times as well as how she gained her powers back. I was one to hate on any Netflix female lead character because of how they would write them as all powerful righteous quirky female characters who do no harm but no Crystal did harm but she did as much if not more good as she did harm because she's just a teenager! they are all teenagers navigating a chaotic world. and i really love the actress's portrayal of her and just how she delivers her lines with raw emotions, loved her a lot!

this one is personal but call me prude i dont care however i really loved the minimal PDA and sexual actions in the show it really made it feel comfortable to watch and the kissing scenes were there to aid the narration, Crystal and Charles's relationship as well as Monty and Edwin's they werent just kissing scenes for the heck of it for the viewers to take pleasure in but for the characters to develop and grow

now to my favourite characters Niko! i kinda laughed at the understandable lack of proper manga and anime references due to liscening and copyrights issues but they did their best in showing her nerdy shut in style as well as make her a character who grows out of her hikikimori problem into someone who loves to help everyone despite failing at times, they didnt make her stupid comic relief but an actual smart awkward female character, a good friend to Edwin i honestly loved every scene of them both together.

the cat king was a fun watch whenever he came on screen and he had his own goals instead of just 'use him to progress the plot forward', he did what he did and he was the start of the main storyline of the show Locking the boys in the town as well as kickstarting Edwin's journey in self discovery. and his final interaction with Edwin was really lovely and sincere.

Am quite upset knowing that i will never see the cast again because netflix cancelled the show but in another hand am satisfied with this one season, they told everything they had to tell about the characters each one of them was given the spotlight they deserved even Tragic Mick and it ended well for a season. Aside from the ending where they show Niko and the dandelion folks who were funny to me btw, unlikely friendship haha, i could live with just one season.

i would love to see Niko come back and for Edwin to have his friend around, they make a great quadra team with their own respective personalities but i am satisfied with just this one season in fear that netflix would ruin the show like how they did with Umbrella Academy. Honestly if it werent for a tumblr post talking about Dead Boys Detective i would have never given it a chance or had this much fun watching it. Loved it to bits! ps: i also really like how all the actors are adults, they looked like teens so i had to google their ages considering the issue film industry is going through with child actors exploitation and all so am glad they hired adults to act in this. also didnt Finality? i forgot her name the one who came with the Night Nurse in the end to let the boys continue their work say the same sentence Tragic Mick told to Niko before they went to help out the boys at the witch's den? i really loved that tid bit, i loved the dialogue, gosh i love the scriptwriting of this.

Part one 

Comment: What a hiatus huh? I’ve been gone for a while, havent updated, but i needed to find myself and my writing style. This is something I’ve been working for on quiet some time. Both writing and rewriting. I kind of like it. But as always, let me know what you think! Don’t be a silent reader, I really appreciate all the feedback.

He could feel the ground beneath his paws, and the cold winter breeze in his dark fur coat as he ran through the forest, underneath the pale light of that month's full moon. The subtle scent of summer rain and sandalwood was what had made him bail his brothers on their midnight run in the forest surrounding their family’s territory. 

He was still a cub. Still not strong enough to pick a fight with rogues or intruders, but his senses were better than most wolves his age and his curiosity was once again stronger than the fear of being killed. 

As he ran towards the clearing where he could hear the two wolves, they were closer to him now. They almost danced through the night as they chased each other onto the frozen lake. They were playing, having fun. He watched them as their crystal white fur made them shine as white as the snow around them or the full moon above them. 

They looked like two angels, two mythical creatures that shouldn’t be disturbed. So, he didn’t. Instead, he watched them from the shadows.

He was woken up abruptly by the sound of his brother pounding on his door. The dream always ended there, that was no surprise. The memory of that night by the lake was both crystal clear and hazy at the same time. He never knew how he’d gotten home, in fact no one did. His parents had sent out a search team that night after his brothers had returned without him. Only to find him in human form, tucked into bed in the early morning hours.

He stretched his arms above his head and scratched his eyes before yawning loudly. There was nothing in this world he hated as much as early morning runs. “YAH! Tae hurry up or I’ll send Jin up with a bucket” his brother Namjoon yelled when he didn’t get a reply from the youngest of the three. Taehyung shivered by the thought of the ice-cold water that had woken him more than once throughout his relatively short life. 

“I’m up! I’m up! No need for that today. Goddess...” he could hear a chuckle from his brother that was already halfway down the stairs. He knew he needed to hurry if he wanted anything to eat before their 50km morning run. He’d of course win no matter what, he always did, but he could use the extra energy since his two elders always tried to beat him.

He walked downstairs, his eyes still adjusting to the bright morning sun as he felt his stomach growl. His mother laughed, a loving and kind sound, as he stepped into the giant kitchen. Him and his closest family all lived in a huge house made by the very trees that had once stood in its place.

Their family had an open door policy, so wolves, both young and old would be coming and going throughout the day both to hang out, but also to get help from their Alpha and Luna.

“Same dream as always?” Seokjin said from the table near the big windows that were overlooking the terrace. 

Taehyung sighed as he answered: “you know it brother, nothing’s changed” 

His mother looked at her youngest with sympathetic eyes, as Seokjin rolled his own at his statement.

“I told you guys you should’ve forced him to see a therapist. White wolves... he might as well have told us all he’d been kidnapped by fairies” their mother quickly turned as she threw a waffle at the broad-shouldered man. He yelled out dramatically, earning attention from both his father and Namjoon as they walked in. 

“You don’t joke about fairies Seokjin, not as long as you live under my roof” his mother said with a stern look in her eyes. 

“You never know if they’re listening in, and none of us need that kind of bad luck. As for you my dear” she said as she walked over to Taehyung, “whatever creature, white wolf or fairy, you saw that night, you’re one lucky man. You were touched by the goddess that night, and that is a blessing” 

She ruffled his dark locks, showing off the patch of white hair that had appeared in the back of his neck after that midnight run, so many years ago. 

“Are the three of you done discussing the creatures of the night? We need to get going if we wanna make time for a good run before we leave” Namjoon asked from the place he had leaned against the dark marble countertop. 

Seokjin smiled smugly, as the sun broke the tree line surrounding the house, making him look almost as golden as his eyes. He quickly rose from his seat pushing Namjoon on the way out the door. He quickly followed him, determined to get a head start. 

Taehyung on the other hand didn’t rush, he took a bite of the waffle his mother had made for him and gave her a peck on the cheek before he whispered a quiet thank you. He then slowly strutted out the kitchen and down the hall out the front door, with such confidence that made both of his parents’ smile. 

The two of them were proud of their boys. They had raised them right. They were respectful to their elders and kind to those younger than them. Every day the three of them made their hearts burst with both pride and love. Their mother sighed before she whispered, a subtle question that only her husband was supposed to hear. 

“Do you think he’ll ever recover from that night Ji-hoon? Do you think the dreams of that night will ever stop haunting him?” 

Ji-hoon pulled his mate close to his chest as he nuzzled his head in the crook of her neck, the place he had marked her 20 years earlier. He breathed in her scent of vanilla and mango, the only thing in this world that could make both him and his wolf calm. 

“I have no idea Jee, I just hope that what ever happened to him that night, will one day bring him joy” 

They looked out the grand windows watching their youngest son turn into his wolf form in a millisecond, before he sprinted toward the edge of where the forest began. He was so fast and so determined to once again beat his brothers, that he looked more like a shadow than a wolf. The two parents stood in the window and looked at their youngest disappear, a little sting of worry in both of their hearts.

OH BTW watched catu today :] i havent seen it since it first came out in 2019 and id forgotten almost everything about it since then! i was worried it was gonna be mediocre, i know there's plenty of folks who weren't too keen on it, but i really liked it! not as much as the 2nd dimension, but it was definitely a fun time.

rather than the like, more Movie type experience that 2d or notlp have, catu felt more like just a looong episode of pnf. id mostly just say it was fun! i do love stuff like 2d/notlp where the drama is heightened and things get more on the serious side, but the "just slightly more dramatic than your typical pnf episode" isn't a bad place to be for a pnf movie.

i have a couple gripes for sure- i don't think many of the songs were up to the usual caliber, ferb had too many voice lines, and some bits were wayy too drawn out.. i'm glad ferb was more involved but i think if he talks too much to do that you really lose his ferbiness :( there were jokey lines where you definitely couldve replaced him talking with something else and it'd work just as well. i adore ferb, he doesnt need to talk to be involved!!

that said, i really like the art. they had fun with angles and a lot more fun than usual with character expressions which i really appreciate, it was all very good to look at. and the action-type animation has DEFINITELY improved a lot- actiony scenes from stuff like the 2d movie always had a certain awkwardness to them that was not present here. the lineart was a bit thicker and i think the way they did the lineart coloring was slightly different? the differences were, like, small enough to be hard to pinpoint but distracting because i'm very familiar with regular pnf. so, not something bad, just different and throwing me off because of it.

the writing also felt, for the most part, on point. there were a lot of super funny lines and good bits. and i enjoyed candace's story! i'm an older sister, and the difference between my & my little sister's age is just about the same as that between candace and p&f (depending on which episode's timeline you reference..) and a lot of her emotional development in the movie rang very true to shitty-teen me, my conception of my self-worth back then, and how my relationship with my little sister changed as we both got older.

overall i liked it and it makes me very excited for the new seasons :]

hi queer friends in my phone i hope u have all been having an ok month so far 💖 im sorry i havent been online very much lately, its like 80% just me being forgetful except to hop on my phone app for like ten mins to browse my dash and reblog something and get distracted by another non phone related activity LOL. my bestie Eli is here still until the rest of the month and we finished our rewatch (their first watch, my like......who even knows the specific numbered rewatch) of Avatar The Last Airbender a couple days ago and that was very fun and exciting, it was wild getting to those last few episodes in the final season and just totally getting brought back to being a kid in my head when the show was actively airing on tv and i was sitting in my bedroom exploding from sheer special interest excitement watching the story wrap up on the super small box tv i used to have like 15+ years ago 😭🫡 we haven't started watching Legend Of Korra yet since we just finished ATLA and need to like. take a lil Avatar media break before jumping into another entire finished series fhdhdhsfsshhgd but excited for whenever we start that too!! Eli showed me a fav movie of theirs the other night called Thoroughbreds and i REALLY liked it, fellow toxic yuri enjoyers i truly cannot recommend that one enough those girls have Problems In Abundance and i love that for them and also me.

OH OH OH ALSO on my birthday after we got home from out of house activities we watched that Nic Cage movie 'Dream Scenario' that i've wanted to see so bad since the first trailer for it dropped online a while back, and i am truly not just being dramatic when i say i think that is my favorite movie i've seen this year and it will be Difficult for another movie to win over that 2024 Fav Spot in my mind, it was exactly what i wanted it to be and MUCH MORE LMAOO IT WAS SO GODDAMN FUNNY. very specifically Me And Eli's Kinda Stupid Sense Of Humor throughout the whole run time we were fuckin losing it at every other scene. that was a wonderful lil birthday treat.

also the antique mall we were gonna go to ended up being closed on the day of my birthday so we went to a big mall off-Cape that i like instead and have been to a few other times for past birthdays cus they actually have a bunch of different types of stores with stuff i actually enjoy unlike the more local mall we have here that is 100% dying a slow agonizing Mall Death lmao. went to Build-A-Bear and they had that one bear style in stock that literally just looks like a femme lesbian with the lesbian flag colors and perfect lil eyeliner so i made a Chappell Roan inspired pop star outfit wearing lesbian colored bear (saw someone else online do that a lil while back with the same style i chose so i couldn't resist doing it myself when i saw it was at the store hfsfgsvsgshshdg) and the ppl working there that day were all super chill and friendly and most likely around me and Eli's age or maybe a few yrs younger than us, the person who helped me make my bear specifically was really friendly and fun to talk with cus while we were in there it was pretty much just us and the employees for the majority of the time, he like immediately picked up on me being A Very Obvious Femme Lesbian on account of The Femme Lesbian Bear and also The Very Over The Top Femme Alt Outfit I Was Wearing and we chatted abt being gay and trans while he was stuffing the bear it was such a genuinely sweet and wonderful interaction, he was also autistic and we got to briefly bond over Build-A-Bear being mutual life long autistic special interests of ours and he seemed rly happy to hear that i was turning 27 that day and was still actively wanting to spend birthdays making custom stuffed animals there it was just really great all around 😭💕 also before the mall closed later on we did a quick stop at the FYE store that was there (i always get very excited when i see a still active FYE store anywhere cus it was a childhood fav place of mine to shop but our local mall closed ours when i was a teenager lol) and there was a small stand set up with some ATLA merch and i got a fully functional Momo backpack/crossbody style bag that i am so incredibly psyched about having fjdgedfdhsshfg it is very cute. and anyone who knows me knows i love adding a silly lil functional novelty bag to my collection of silly lil novelty bags. so it will be getting much use from me out in the world

hiiiii im having my 18th birthdaysoon! 20th of next month! im a little unnerved tbh. but anyways i was wondering if u had any like. anything with that kind of theme. it doesnt have to be literal or even a direct metaphor just. whatever movies you can think of that deal with sort of like. the last step of coming of age. adulthood. aging. anything that remotely parallels that. preferably w no SA. if you got nothing for that maybe a few horror movies that you really like that i can watch on my Special Day im really feeling like just binging horror movies all day recently. youre like the horror movie expert that i follow lol so id be happy to check out your suggestions

omg exciting…..turning 18 felt weird yes but i hope its a good birthday and a good age for you!! i’ll try to think of some good horror recs for the occasion lets see!

- raw 2016, one of my very favorite horror movies and definitely one of my favorite coming of age horror films! its a cannibalism flick with a great score and themes on sisterhood and family and fate and becoming the adult you are, whether you want to or not. kind of intense and gross but its really good. oh its also french sorry but its worth it

- pyewacket 2017, about a girl with a tense relationship with her mother who dabbles with some occult stuff that she shouldnt and has to try to handle whether she really woke something up with it, or if its in her head. a lot about growing up + mother child relationships, i think this is an underrated gem

- we’re all going to the worlds fair 2021, its a bit younger than 18 but its a gorgeous and strange reflection on coming of age that i think will resonate a lot especially for people who grew up online and/or are queer/trans. it’s a very odd and stylistic piece so its a bit hit or miss for people but i like it a lot. the MC is younger than you but i think its a really striking story! its kind of moody and left me a little sad (its not a tragedy tho) so maybe not a happy birthday film

- carrie 1976, obviously this is a classic coming of age film if you havent seen it i cant recommend it enough! its just really good. score is great, acting is great, visually its stunning and colorful and awesome. a classic for a reason

- excision 2012, this one is again very weird and also heavy on psychosexual themes but theres not any assault that i remember. does the dog die says there may be one kiss that is unwanted but it doesnt stand out in my mind fwiw. this is a visually bizarre movie about trying to be who you want to be, who you think you ought to be, and who your family wants you to be. very much coming of age, very very weird

- hatching 2022, again this one is about a character younger than 18 but i think the practical effects work is stunning and the themes about growing up, family, expectations, and loneliness are applicable even though the mc is young. its really gross visually and i love that!

wow these have all been girls uh theres a lot of weirdgirl horror about coming of age i guess. those are also all pretty serious, emotionally heavy films too so lemme think of some more that are a little different

- the lost boys 1987, this is a lot lighter than some of the others! its a very fun california coast set vampire coming of age movie, very 80s, very homoerotic

- the final girls 2015, its a meta horror comedy about getting sucked into a friday the 13th esque slasher film starting the protags recently deceased mom. again, lots of mother child relationship work, surprisingly touching story about growing up and grief and handling that

i’ll also rapidfire toss some out that are related to birthdays, if thats more your speed on this: child’s play 1988 (andy barclay gets chucky for his 6th birthday, kind of self explanatory i assume you know who chucky is), happy death day 2017 (a girl gets stuck reliving her birthday over and over and dying each time, she has to figure out who’s killing her and handle some nice coming of age/family themes, its a horror comedy), bloody birthday 1981 (very very cusp of 70s 80s horror about three evil kids with the same birthday who are evil due to the planet’s alignment at the time, they like to kill people, it is what it is. no sexual assault iirc but they do peep on a girl changing), madhouse 1981 (a woman is chased down by her insane twin in the days leading up to their birthday, this one is kind of mid but the ending is pretty strong and iconic to me)….that might be it off the top of my head :-)

you ever get into something that isn’t, like. that good. like, it’s alright, the plot is serviceable and has its moments here and there, ups and downs, highs and lows. but the characters are really fun and the dynamics have a lot of potential and a lot of the people making it are obviously skilled.

and there’s a lot of good shit that could hypothetically happen if all that potential is used to its full capacity but it probably won’t because why would good things ever happen. so it’s carried almost entirely by the fandom and the headcanons the fandom builds around it. because that has happened to me twice now.

i thought wednesday was fine. not great, not terrible, just fine. the plot was a pretty standard YA supernatural crime thing and it was serviceable and like, not too bad, all things considered. but the characters were really great, i thought. especially the dynamic between enid and wednesday was really good. or, well, not even good, it just had a lot of potential, which i think is mostly owed to how well the actresses mesh and get along because the plot and the writing sure as shit was not doing them any favors. like it had enough potential for me to immediately go look for fanfics back when i watched it in fuckin november, and i’m *still* reading fanfics about them routinely and it’s almost february. i havent been this into a ship in AGES, dude. and it’s just like. i dunno, it’s so clear to me that that is literally all thanks to the chemistry between jenna ortega and emma myers. and it’s just so disappointing to see yet another example of very clear queerbaiting, like, you cannot deny how romantic that final hug was between them, wayyyy wayyyyy more so than anything involving any of the fuckin stale piece of bread white boys in the cast. not to imply that those actors didn’t do a good job or anything but it was just like. there is nothing here. there is absolutely no chemistry between these characters. what fucking signals, tyler. and it’s fuckin weird cause it wasn’t even built up all that well or anything, all things considered. and it was STILL leagues beyond anything else in the show in terms of emotional impact and potential for romance. BANG. enid transforms to protect wednesday. BANG. violence committed. BANG. stumble through the woods covered in blood. BANG. oh hi ajax. BANG. is that wednesday? get the fuck out of my way snakeboy i gotta go hug my GIRL cause we’ve been through the fuckin MEATGRINDER together dude. and it’s just so fuckin lame that john netflix is afraid of taking a fucking risk. or not even a risk, like, dude, it’s 2023, wake the fuck up. because, i dunno. i guess i’m conflicted when i see people tear into the show and call the writing terrible because, i mean, yeah, it wasn’t anything special, but the characters have so much potential and again, dude, there was a shitton of CHEMISTRY happening. and obviously i’m just some clown on the internet, i know nothing about what it’s like to be famous or in the spotlight, but i can’t imagine that being basically just a kid at 20 and seeing grown ass adults talk shit at something you worked hard on feels even remotely good. it’s conflicting. i liked parts of it, but most of what i liked has since been expanded on by the fandom and made better and more interesting, so my view on things is probably bit skewed by now and i’m not fuckin joking when i say i have read several books worth of fanfics in the last two months LMFAO. like, i dunno, take yoko for example. actually not even a character in the show. fanon, though? brilliant. oscar worthy. perfect. i love her. canonically she might as well not exist but she has been utilized to such perfection in fanon that i’m honestly sitting here just going, dude, how did they fuck that up? there is a perfectly good shithead-vampire-induced series of comedy moments LINED UP and nobody in the writers room even considered it. it’s just so LAME to see these loser corporations drop the ball on something that could have so EASILY been great or at LEAST good. like there are a shitton of really good ideas floating around on ao3 and i’m just sitting here like, how the fuck didn’t these professional writers think of this? i’m pretty sure i have more stuff i want to say about it but i tend to start talking in circles and repeating myself when i need to express something that causes conflict in my brain. blagh. i dunno. i’m not sure where i’m going with this. i saw a post where some guy tore into the show pretty harshly. and because i enjoyed parts of it, liked the performances of most of the cast despite the flaws in the plot and am really into a ship from the show, some part of me became defensive but like, phrasing aside, nothing the dude said was anything i particularly disagreed with. and that’s kind of a weird headspace to be in, i guess. the other example of this is obviously homestuck, the epilogues and homestuck 2 and i’m not even going to get into that fuckin total shitshow.
