The 5th annual Philip K. Dick European Science Fiction Film Festival announces events in France and Germany
The Philip K. Dick European Science Fiction Film Festival has announced its full schedule for the fifth annual celebration spotlighting the brilliance of legendary novelist Philip K. Dick. Pushing the boundaries of storytelling through remarkable feature and short films and virtual reality, the festival will be held October 25-26 at L'Hybride and Inoui in Lille, France and November 1-2 at Film Club 813 e.V. in Cologne, Germany.
This year's festival marks its fifth gathering in the locations of Lille and Cologne, both highly artistic meccas essential for the event's mission. "Europe has a long tradition of integral and psychological science fiction," said Daniel Abella, the founder and director of the festival. "Both Lille and Cologne have a rich cultural life and are popular areas for learning and appreciating this genre." The event will also commemorate its namesake by attributing his work as a reflection of modern society. "Philip K. Dick foresaw the aspects of technology to free and liberate us," said Abella. "If you look around at the technological advancements of our world, many of his stories have come to pass and the festival recognizes his vision. He understood that the fluid nature of reality and the lure of transhumanism is becoming a real phenomenon."
Festival Passes: Passes to the festival are available for purchase on www.philipkdickfilmfestival-europe.com.

Sayaka Yamamoto Live Tour 2017 ~identity~ NHK Hall 19th November Fan Report
On the 19th of November, I went with a friend to Sayaka’s NHK Hall Live. We were able to secure pretty good seats which were on the first floor, 7th row on the left side.
As I’ve been to theatre before, I have technically seen Sayaka performing from even closer up before, but as this was her solo live and not in a group, the experience was completely different.
I’ve also been to one of Sayaka’s Zepp concerts last year, but my friend Jess had never been to a Sayaka live before, so she seemed completely overwhelmed the whole time. Haha.
Honestly, more than a week has passed since the concert, and I don’t remember a lot of things anymore, so I’ll just share some of the highlights of the whole experience itself.
MAIN HIGHLIGHTS
1. Making/preparing our own uchiwas
As you can see in the photo, that’s me and my friend, Jess, just around the concert venue. For some reason that day, there was some Spanish festival going on, so that’s why you can see tents and festive looking things in the background. We made that uchiwa about a week before the concert, and were very proud about how cute it turned out haha.
Then, on the actual concert day, we worked on the other side of the uchiwa as showing our support for the one and only Team SY, Sayaka’s incredible support band that are really ultimate squad goals as a team haha.
Here’s the photo of the other side of the uchiwa we worked on!
And then to the actual concert itself...
2. The epic beginning
We were able to know that the concert was starting because the lights dimmed, and some funky music started playing. Then as the red curtain started to unveil, the band began playing the intro to JOKER. And when the curtains fully opened, there was Team SY and Sayaka right before everyone’s eyes. Sayaka was dressed beautifully in white clad with her white guitar, and she looked absolutely stunning. I thought JOKER was a perfect start to the concert as the super rapid drum beats really built up the anticipation for the rest of the concert.
3. Sayaka’s beauty and elegance
Now, you may think I’m saying this as a a Sayanee oshi, but when I saw Sayaka perform Wings, my jaw dropped. I did personally want her to dance more in that song since it’s a super dancey track...however, even though she really only danced a little, every gesture and movement she made while singing with her mic stand was so graceful and elegant. In all honesty, words can’t even give it justice, but it was just the way she moved her hands and her expressions - everything was so cool and entrancing. What stage presence! She was still in her white dress then, so I think that added on to the flair of the performance.
4. Sayaka’s most engagingly emotional performance
When I went to Sayaka’s solo concert last year, I don’t know why but her Yukikoi performance then didn’t quite leave an impression on me. However, this time, Yukikoi started with a breathtakingly beautiful violin solo by Ayasa, Team SY’s violinist, and I think that really set the mood. I was able to really feel just how much Sayaka was getting into the song - the heartbreak, the angst etc. Everything just felt so vivid. It has to be one of the most emotional performances I’ve ever seen from her.
5. The performance that I got most hyped up about
Surprisingly, it wasn’t something like Rainbow Rose or Let’s Go Crazy that hyped me up the most, but instead it was Kassai. The whole song I got so hyper! It’s a real head banger!! I was pretty much bouncing and jumping the entire song. I do like the recording, but this song live to me actually felt like a completely different song altogether. It’s not even my favourite song of the album (though I do like it), but it definitely is up there as one of the best concert songs in Identity alongside Let’s Go Crazy.
6. The performance that made me squeal the most
This was of course none other than my favourite song from the Identity album, Yubikiri. Sayaka’s smile, movements, and gestures - everything was so adorable. I kept squealing at how cute Sayaka was haha. I can’t wait to watch it again on DVD!! I guess January is not that long a wait haha. Also, at the part where she sings “Yubikiri genman” (pinky promise), she actually put out her little baby finger. Ughhh it’s sooo cute. I have no more words other than, “IT WAS SO ADORBS!!”
7. The climax of the concert - the towel songs
I think most people can already figure out which songs these are. First, there was Smile which from last year had been a great towel flinging song. But when she performed Let’s Go Crazy, that reached another whole new level. Sayaka had mentioned before she wrote that song to cater especially for lives and that when it was performed, everyone could just leave aside their problems for a while and just enjoy themselves to the max. And I really did experience that at the live. Like while being accompanied by Sayaka’s crisp and energetic vocals, I was surprisingly not even focusing on Sayaka herself that much the whole song, but rather, I was just having fun getting hyped jumping about, and really just living in the moment, and it was GREAT. Haha. Thanks Sayaka, it was perfect stress relief lol.
8. The significance of NHK Hall
NHK Hall is filled with many important moments for Sayaka. First of all, it’s where Kouhaku Uta Gassen is held every year, so it has memories from the first time NMB was on with Kamonegix to various lives to many shows Sayaka has been on like AKB48 Show, Utakon etc. Especially, last year, Sayaka managed to get #1 in the AKB48 Dream Senbatsu at this very venue, so it held many special memories for her. She got really emotional talking about it, and you could feel just how nervous and thankful she was being able to perform there. Really though, Sayaka couldn’t stop thanking everyone during that live. That sincerity was really moving. The fans in the audience (including myself) also spontaneously broke into a Sayaka call, and then she got even more emo. Haha. To be honest, it wasn’t just for her, but even just realising how they hold Japan’s biggest year end music show in that very venue, even I in the audience kept being aware about what a prestigious and special venue it was. Thus, I can really understand why Sayaka got so overwhelmed.
9. Everything went by in a flash
For Sayaka’s encore, she performed 3 songs, but to be honest, at this point, I cannot really remember much because I was just trying to soak in everything but somehow, it all just passed by me in a flash. I did think Yume no Koe was a little tame to start off an encore. It was just very relaxing and chill. The same goes with Haru wa Mousugu which is gentle and touching. Melody is always a good ending song, so I’m glad she chose to end with that. That song really does feel like Sayaka’s promise to fans encapsulated in a song about how she’ll continue singing and doing what she loves up there on stage.
10. There were concert streamers that fell from the ceiling!
The red circle is where my friend and I was. So, I heard that NHK Hall was the only venue they were able to get streamers to fall from the ceiling, so I guess that was pretty cool. Streamers are always a great way to end the concert with a bang. Only the people on the first floor and towards the front half of the hall really were able to get streamers, so that was pretty neat too. Later on, we also saw people coming towards the front after the concert to pick up streamers too haha.
As it was a very long strip, I folded it, but here’s an example of the streamer.
It said:
「今日は本当にありがとう! 皆にとってのサードマンにれるよう がんばるぞ★」
"Thank you so much for today! I'll do my best so that I can become a third man for everyone."
What a nice message. Thank you Sayaka <3
FINAL THOUGHTS & IMPRESSIONS
It was really fun going with my friend Jess as it was her first time ever seeing Sayaka in person and going for a 48-related live! I’m glad she really had a blast at Sayaka’s concert. By the end of the day, she wasn’t just gushing about Sayaka but also Team SY. To be honest, I was the same because I really felt how not just Sayaka, but every band member really levelled up from last year in both their presence and synergy with each other. If they were amazing last year, this year they were out of this world phenomenal.
Just like last year, I also really liked the MC parts Sayaka would dedicate to talking to her band members one-by-one. It was really nice how we could just get to know the team. So much warmth and love; they’re reaaally the best.
As for the goods, I did buy some, but for things like the rave band, I reused the one from last year as it was still fully functioning (once I changed the batteries). It was very handy as the staff would regulate our rave band lights during the concert itself so we didn’t have to do anything. I’m glad last year’s rave band still worked the same because it was actually pretty pricey. Thank God I got to use it more than once haha.
Going for the concert actually got me thinking about a lot of things including my fangirl life haha. I realised when I got busy with work and chasing my own goals and aspirations, Sayaka who has all this time been a big focus in my life was slowly but surely becoming a side thing.
It’s not like I’m quitting from being a Sayaka fan anytime soon, but it’s just I may not be able to spend as much time on her anymore. I am glad Sayaka has been my #1 this past 6 years, and I wouldn’t change that for anyone else. I’ve been inspired and motivated by her so much after all. Also, I’m really proud and happy to have an oshi who truly values and cares for her fans, and of course also the people around her.
She has even mentioned about how this time, she wrote songs this time for the sake of others, hoping people could find strength and courage in them. That’s just the sort of person she is.
Seeing her like that though, I began to feel even stronger about how I want to seriously pursue my goals and move forward in my own life too. I don’t really know how things would change for me as a fan from now on, but rest assured, I’ll keep supporting Sayaka one way or another.
Maybe you’ll still see me at lives once in a while from now on if my schedule permits it XD
I mean come to think of it, my last fan report was actually from a year ago. So, that may be my frequency of going for lives/events after all haha. Anyway, thanks for reading till the end. Hope you enjoyed it!

Yuuri Week 2017, Day 6: (The Power of) Love Title: Heart on His Sleeve Characters: Katsuki Yuuri, Victor Nikiforov, Nishigori Takeshi, Nishigori Yuuko. Pairings: Yuuri/Victor, Takeshi/Yuuko. Genres/Tags: Friendship, Romance, Fluff, Canon Compliant, Post-Canon. Rating/Warnings: G/None. Summary: It was when Yuuri took his rightful place on a GPF podium that a dam broke; and Takeshi cried. Meanwhile, Yuuri is already planning to reach the next level and move above and beyond even more expectations.
It wasn’t the first time Takeshi was moved to tears over Yuuri’s skating. In his defense, that quad flip had been gorgeous, who could blame him?
Yu-topia had been bustling with activity since the end of the medal ceremony. Hiroko-san had slipped out of the room a few minutes ago with Makkachin to pray at Vicchan's shrine in Yuuri's stead. Minami was currently talking just as loudly and exuberantly as his daughters. He clearly thought he was Yuuri’s #1 Fan. Takeshi almost felt bad for the kid. No one would ever overthrow Victor for that title.
When Yuuri had left with his childhood idol and coach, he and Yuuko knew this could be his last run. Yuuri was given a second chance and he ran with it, ready to show the world what he was truly capable of. His route to a Grand Prix Final redemption had its highs and lows; a second place finish at Cup of China, a narrow qualification into the final following the Rostelecom Cup. After everything that happened, Takeshi thought he'd be ready for any outcome in Barcelona.
He was wrong. None of that could have prepared him for this moment. Not for the overwhelming pressure building in his chest as he watched Yuuri stand, expression neutral and hands folded behind his back while the bronze medal was awarded. It was when Yuuri took his rightful place on a Grand Prix Final podium that a dam broke; and Takeshi cried. Then he kept crying, unabashedly and without abandon.
He cried for his childhood friend who had given up so much to chase his dreams. Who had to uproot his life and move to another continent by himself because he didn't have a coach who could train him locally; a privilege other skaters took for granted. Who had unknowingly missed the last years of his beloved dog's life only to feel like it was all for nothing because of one bad performance in Sochi. How it had caused him to downspiral so much he was contemplating retirement.
He cried for his childhood friend who never seemed to recognize his own worth and accomplishments and instead hyper focused on his failures. Who wasn’t considered a prodigy, but made up for it in other ways. Who let life and happiness pass him by for so long then finally—finally allowed himself to hold onto someone he loved only to be rewarded when that same love was not only returned, but held back just as tightly.
He cried for Yuuri's heartbreaks, his triumphs. He cried for everything that had shaped his friend into the man he was today and the man he would become in the next years following his return as Japan's Ace.
“Oh, Takeshi...”
Yuuko's voice was fond as she she leaned against him, resting her head on his shoulder. Her hand rubbed soothing circles into his arm as she turned her proud gaze back to the screen. Yuuri was holding up his medal now, looking both so demure yet happy and—Takeshi's nose snorted loudly as he inhaled, a fresh wave of tears spilling over. He gave a particularly unflattering wet blow into the napkin his wife handed him.
“This is just the beginning, you know,” She remarked. “Hiroko-san’s going to need a much bigger case to store all his future medals in.”
It wasn’t like Yuuri didn’t already have a nice collection of awards. Since he was a Junior, Yuuri had been the Japan Skating Federation’s golden child. They’d had high hopes for him since he was thirteen. Yet until now he never realized how much impact he had on Japan’s skating. He was their future and dozens of kids watching from home who were now just taking to the ice would grow up idolizing him. Kids who would cite him as their reason and their influence to skate in the first place. It was both a surreal and uplifting thought.
When Yuuri and Victor returned home Yuuri wasn’t surprised by the gathering waiting outside Yu-topia. His parents and Mari were there of course along with Takeshi, Yuuko, Minako and Minami. The triplets were holding up a banner they had to peak over the edge to see. There were also at least a dozen guests his parents had invited to the screening.
Yuuri embraced the warm and light feeling as more guests from the small town came bringing food and drink, then the party celebrating both his homecoming and success was in full-swing. Before long the festivities began spilling outside, the air full of conversation and laughter. It was into the second hour when Takeshi cornered him.
“So where is it?” He started by way of greeting. “Remember we promised years ago that whoever won a medal at a Senior level Grand Prix Final first has to let the other hold it.”
Yuuri shook his head with a smile. Of course when Takeshi had made him promise they were both Juniors and the idea seemed more like a dream. He undid the first few buttons of his jacket and tugged the ribbon free.
Takeshi whistled. “Nice. The final scores were so close too. It's mind-boggling.” He released Yuuri’s medal and stepped back. “So tell me, Yuuri. You landed a quad flip in competition. You embodied Eros for an entire season—I was very turned on by the way—now you’re on the road to Worlds against Victor. Is there anything else I should know about Japan’s Ace?”
He watched as Yuuri idly rubbed the medal’s ribbon between his fingers. He looked like he was in thought so Takeshi waited patiently.
Yuuri met his gaze contemplatively and finally answered. “Well, I’ve been working on landing a quad axel consistently in practice.”
A beat passed where the two friends simply looked at each other. Yuuri shifted awkwardly, eyebrow lifting in askance. Another beat passed, then Takeshi's jaw dropped.
“Wait a minute,” Takeshi sighed and pinched the bridge between his eyes. The way Yuuri had worded it was so nonchalant too... “Did you say you’ve been trying to land it ‘consistently?’ Does...does that mean you actually have?”
Yuuri worried his bottom lip and sighed in frustration. “My success rate is basically non-existent. I roughly landed it a few times, but my leg was wobbly and I still often lose my footing. I'm working on getting enough height for the extra ½ rotation. I can consistently reach 4, but anymore and I usually end up eating ice or the boards—”
“Yuuri,” Takeshi cut in incredulously. “You can’t have been practicing it for very long and you’re already almost sticking the landing! On a quadruple axel.” He paused. “What does Victor think?” There was no need to ask if Victor knew. Of course he knew.
Yuuri smiled thoughtfully. “He said I don’t need it to win, but if anyone can do it, he-he said it should be me...” He trailed off.
Takeshi hummed in thought. Axels were notoriously difficult with the extra half rotation, yet Yuuri somehow managed to make them look easy. The triple axel was his favorite jump and also one of his most reliable. Logically it did make sense that Yuuri should be the one to take that next step and oh, what a history making step that would be. As a lifelong skating fan, the idea of witnessing a successfully landed quadruple axel at all was exhilarating.
“You know, I think he’s right,” Takeshi said. He paused in consideration. “Maybe that’s why my little Axel favors you so much. She’s named after your favorite jump after all,” He quipped.
“Not that joke again,” Yuuri couldn’t help the bubble of laughter. He felt loose and comfortable. There was a lot of work ahead of him, but these days no dream felt as untouchable as they once did.
Takeshi felt anticipation build in the way only something new and exciting can inspire. The next five or so years were sure to be interesting in the figure skating world. Yuuri would be the first skater to land a quad axel in competition. He would make it his signature move. Not to mention with Yuuri’s stamina he would probably have it in the back half of his programs for added points. Takeshi felt his fingers itch to find a pen and paper to readjust what Yuuri’s score could look like. As exciting as that prospect was it also wasn’t the only opportunity Yuuri had to make history.
“And now you’re going to be facing your coach as a fellow competitor.” Takeshi still had no idea how that was supposed to work but nevertheless. “Think you’re ready to take him on?”
Yuuri considered his answer.
“It really all comes down to one thing; I’ve spent most of my life chasing Victor. Now I want him to chase me.”
It’s around three hours after the party is in full swing when Yuuri takes a breather from the festivities. As the guest of honor he felt guilty about slipping away, but he needed a few minutes to himself. He felt he could as the guests were steadily becoming more intoxicated. Minako and his dad were especially keen on pulling anyone dubiously willing into dance competitions.
He wanted to spend as much time with his family and friends as possible before his move to Russia. He was already making preparations to leave home for another extended absence. He wasn’t nervous about moving to Victor’s apartment in St. Petersburg. It wasn’t like his move to Detroit. Back then he felt like he was leaving everything he considered home behind. He couldn’t pinpoint when he’d started associating ‘home’ with Victor, but he felt that was why he was in a state of calm despite having to go through another impending culture shock. He wouldn’t have to adjust without help this time.
The screen slid open behind him, the din from the party temporarily filling the quiet space before being shut out again. A rustle of clothing and he knew it was Victor seated next to him.
After a few moments of comfortable silence Yuuri broke it with a chuckle. Victor looked over at him in confusion.
“I guess it’s a delayed reaction,” Yuuri explained with a shrug. “That we’re really doing the whole coach/competitor thing. I don’t think it’s sunk in until now how crazy it sounds. Nationals are less than two weeks away as well...”
He paused.
“I hope you’re ready for the first installment on your coach’s fee,” Yuuri said with a wink. He didn’t know what specifically brought on his need for light banter. He was just feeling good right now.
Victor looked momentarily surprised. Then he grinned. “I don’t know, Yuuri. Are you sure you can keep up with me?”
“Are you implying I can’t?”
“Oh Yuuri, what’s a little competitive bite between us, hmm?”
Yuuri giggled and bumped their shoulders together. “I know I’m ready to prove more people wrong. To anyone who hasn’t taken us seriously.” Then he added playfully. “If you think you can extend your reign though you’re going to have your work cut out for you. I’m backloading everything, remember. It won’t be easy for you,” He teased.
He was met with one of Victor’s most brilliant smiles yet.
“I would never expect it any other way.”

Mount Eerie announces live album titled (after)
The grieving process involving the death of loved ones varies from person to person, from loved one to loved one. It’s this variability that makes it so hard to disentangle, so difficult to understand from an outside perspective. So to call Phil Elverum’s grief over the passing of his then wife Genevieve distinct or special would be an obvious understatement. But the raw, terse, and direct method of Phil’s sorrow through his recent works as Mount Eerie — one that explicitly avoids metaphor in its understanding of death — stands out on its own, a testament to facing death and reality. It’s why we continue to speak highly of A Crow Looked At Me and its follow-up Now Only. This goes even further in terms of how one expresses their grief in a public setting, and we get to hear the results on September 21, when Mount Eerie releases a live concert album titled (after) on P.W. Elverum & Sun. While Phil was hesitant to even perform these songs in public, with matters complicated by having his young daughter in tow (as one would after being widowed), he toured successfully as Mount Eerie, benefiting from a sympathetic and supportive network of people in various venues to make this happen. “They have been the most powerful shows of my life, no question,” said Phil in a statement. The recording took place at the Le Guess Who? Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands in November 2017. The venue was an old Protestant church, Jacobikerk, an ideal setting for music such as his. The set includes the bulk of A Crow Looked At Me as well as early performances of songs that would later comprise Now Only. Explains Phil: “You can hear the breath in the room. You can feel the simultaneous intimacy and immensity. Foregrounded by the hyper-bare instrumentation (minimal acoustic guitar), the words burn brighter even than on the albums, more legible. This is a recording of these ultra-intimate songs living in the real world among people, and of peoples’ wide eyed accepting silence, and clapping.” Listen to a live version of “Soria Moria,” one of Crow’s standout tracks, below, followed by Phil Elverum’s full statement about the release. While making the songs that would be released as “A Crow Looked At Me”, I wasn’t thinking at all about sharing them with other people, family or strangers. Nobody. I was only thinking of squeezing the constant flow of words that was crashing around in my head into a familiar form, a song, since that was my habitual method of processing that had accidentally developed since adolescence. I made my inner monologue into songs for no other reason than to release it from my skull. At some point during the writing I recognized a feeling in the vicinity of “pride” about the work. It was a strange realization. These songs, and the facts of my life that the songs were made from, seemed like nothing to be proud of. They seemed like something purely brutal and new and apart from my usual conception of creative work, and the notion of having excitement stemming from these new songs was accompanied by so many apprehensions and uncertainties. What does it mean to write things like this down? What would it mean to record it? What would it mean to share it with strangers? Where is the line of propriety? What is anyone supposed to do? At every step I was uncertain if it was OK to be doing what I was doing. My hunch was almost always that it was wrong. Don’t write it, don’t record it, don’t sing it in front of people, don’t repeat it. But also I was surprised to discover that my internal response to this hesitation was almost always to double down and go deeper in; to write more nakedly, to go on another tour, etc. In the year that came after releasing “A Crow Looked At Me” I toured a lot. The United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan. It wasn’t easy. The shows were emotionally difficult and the atmosphere was so delicate and strange, like reenacting a violent act on stage in front of a paying audience every night. On top of that, I had to tour with my daughter (and a nanny) so my mind was stretched between 2 big difficulties. But fortunately, with the help of so many understanding and helpful agents, bookers, organizers, I was lucky to get to perform these songs in very well suited and beautiful rooms, nice theaters and churches, to kind and supportive listeners. The concerts ended up being something beyond strange, macabre, gawk-shows. I don’t know what they were exactly. Just strangers gathered in beautiful rooms to pay close attention to one person’s difficult details, and to open up together, quietly. They have been the most powerful shows of my life, no question. Even so, every time it was clear that the audiences shared the same apprehensions that I had. After the first song, every time, there was a palpable hanging question in the air: “should we clap?”. It’s a good question. What is this? Is it entertainment? What is applause for? What kind of ritual is this? Many close friends have still not listened to the records or come to a concert. What, beyond pain, is embodied here? I don’t know exactly what my job is, traveling around and delivering these feelings. The concerts in 2017 and 2018 have been unusual, unexplainable, and great. The best one was at Le Guess Who? festival in Utrecht, Netherlands on November 10th, 2017. Nobody was supposed to be recording these shows but fortunately someone didn’t get that message and this beautiful recording of that show has surfaced. So now I’m plunged back into the apprehensions, now pushed into new territory. What would it mean to release a live album of these songs that maybe shouldn’t have been written in the first place, let alone recorded or performed? Is it OK? Does it bring anything new to the songs to hear them in this way? My hope is: yes. You can hear the breath in the room. You can feel the simultaneous intimacy and immensity. Foregrounded by the hyper-bare instrumentation (minimal acoustic guitar), the words burn brighter even than on the albums, more legible. This is a recording of these ultra-intimate songs living in the real world among people, and of peoples’ wide eyed accepting silence, and clapping. (after) tracklist: 01. Real Death 02. Seaweed 03. Ravens 04. When I Take Out The Garbage At Night 05. Emptiness pt. 2 06. Soria Moria 07. Crow 08. Distortion 09. Now Only 10. Crow pt. 2 11. (remarks) 12. Tintin In Tibet http://j.mp/2P9JH2D

Japan 2017 Day 9
September 18, 2017 Tokyo Sightseeing Tokyo Photos | Tokyo Dome Photos
Monday morning was a late morning, and we needed it. We grabbed breakfast at a restaurant near the hotel and headed up to Tokyo for some sight seeing and attractions. First stop: LaQua. We went over to Tokyo Dome City and LaQua to see if Thunder Dolphin was running. The whole area was really nice. I had considered going to LaQua Onsen while here, but didn’t get a chance. We walked around the rides section by LaQua and eventually got a ticket for the coaster.
Thunder Dolphin-You head up the first hill, drop, pop up on top of a building, dive thru a ‘hole’ in said building, then dive thru and around a hubless Ferris Wheel, then back up on the building for some trick track before dropping down and hitting the brakes. As far as hyper coasters go, it was what everyone else has said. A good couple of drops, no major airtime, but a fun coaster, and it looks stunning. It gives a few good views as well. The hills really didn’t have much airtime, and the trick track was odd, but I liked it. I probably wouldn’t pay to ride it again, though.
We walked around the Tokyo Dome, in to a gift shop, and back out onto the plaza where there were a ton of cosplayers all over before heading over to the other rides section. We were going to ride the parachute drop, but the line was too long, so we had dinner at a burger joint in Tokyo Dome instead. Then we walked back thru the cosplayers, LaQua/Tokyo Dome City, and caught our next train down to the waterfront area to hit up Sega Joypolis. Once we arrived, though, we realized the area by Joypolis was a beautiful public park with a beach on Tokyo Bay, and gorgeous views of the Tokyo Skyline, the Rainbow Bridge, and other landmarks. We hung out and took photos while the sunset, soaking up the atmosphere, walking out on the pier, and on the elevated boardwalk. It was a beautiful evening.
Next we headed in to Joypolis. Because we were foreign tourists, they gave us a 300¥ discount (Score!) for the entrance fee. Joypolis is basically a huge arcade with not only cabinet games, but large interactive mazes, unique, 'flat ride' games, a roller coaster, and other crazy Japanese gaming attractions, with loud music, smoke, and lasers. I would have absolutely LOVED this place when I was a teen or in my early 20s. Not that I didn't like it now, but we were basically there for the coaster, although there was a neat looking half-pipe ride/game we'd have liked to try out, but unfortunately wait times were an issue. We stopped into the restroom first, and there were even games at the urinals and in the stalls. We explored for a bit and I took some photos before we headed to get in line for the credit and wait out the 30+ minute line.
Gekion Live Coaster-This is the second coaster that Joypolis has had. It's been changed from when it was first installed, but currently the ride is a spinning coaster with a 'dark ride rhythm game' section, where you hit buttons in succession to the rhythm on the screen from a boy band. After that section, there's a blast of fog, a tire launch, and then your car starts spinning over and around the queue, then in to an inline twist (all while the car is spinning), then into a small room with the coaster layout with drops and turns before hitting the brakes. Overall, it was a fun little coaster! I was apprehensive about spinning and inverting, but it really did work, and the launch was well done too.
Once we were done with Joypolis, we got back on a train and headed to the world famous Shibuya Crossing, the busiest crosswalk in the world, in the Shibuya shopping district. On the way to the station, we accidentally stumbled upon Ultra Tokyo (the EDM Music Festival), and I actually heard some of Steve Aoki’s set. Once we got to Shibua, We crossed a couple times, took pictures (and video), then went and found some dinner at a noodle shop (which once again had amazing food) before taking the metro back to our hotel.

Her trademark character is “Ebineko” - a half cat and half shrimp character that seems to have gotten himself into some tempura batter. “Ebineko” was released as a soft vinyl toy earlier this year - Yasu sculpted the figure herself and painstakingly hand-paints every release. Her figure line-up has recently expanded featuring several new soft vinyl figures; “Same” - the three eyed shark, “Yamorin” - the Gekko Dragon plus a cute mini version of “Ebineko “are all on the way. She exhibited at the Taipei Toy Festival last year and did a live painting performance. She will be having a show in Shanghai in October with fellow artists Teresa Chiba, Hikari Bambi and Hinatique. SIMONE LEGNO
Simone Legno is the Co-founder and Creative Director of tokidoki. Born in Rome, Italy, Legno, drew incessantly as a child. The boxes of chewed, broken and unsharpened pencils he adored as a kid were the beginnings of a passion for art that led to the eventual creation of tokidoki. tokidoki started as Legno’s professional online portfolio and artistic diary while living in Italy, where he showcased his illustrations, advertising and new media designs for various clients. A partial list of these clients includes Volkswagen, MTV, John Galliano, Champion, Toyota, Renault, Daihatsu, BenQ, Microsoft, Narcotic Bureau of Singapore, Telecom Italia, and TIM. tokidoki means “sometimes” in Japanese. Legno, who has always had a deep love of Japan and fascination with world cultures, chose the word because he feels “everyone waits for moments that change one’s destiny, by chance or by meeting a new person”. Simone's special moment arrived when his designs drew the attention of entrepreneurs Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold, who spied the art on his personal website and convinced him to move to L.A. to build a brand. Since officially launching in 2005, tokidoki has grown into an internationally recognized pop- culture lifestyle brand and has amassed a cult-like following for its larger-than-life characters, megawatt partnerships and extensive range of products from apparel and handbags to home décor and even slot machines. tokidoki has collaborated with many brands such as Karl Lagerfeld, Guggenheim Museum, Sephora, LeSportsac, Onitsuka Tiger, Marvel, New Era, Hello Kitty, Fujitsu, Levi's, Smashbox cosmetics, Xbox, T-mobile, Medicom Toy, Major League Baseball, Skullcandy, Barbie, Canon, Black Eyed Peas, and more. As the creator of tokidoki, Simone has become a sought-after speaker around the world at museums, universities and conferences, from MOCA (the Geffen Museum-Los Angeles) to the Adobe MAX conference, UCLA, USC, the Flash Film Festival in San Francisco, Art Center College of Design, Apple store in Osaka, Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome, Singapore Toy and Comic Convention, Grafika Manila and many others.

Arthur Adams
Soruces: http://ift.tt/2wJiBrX
Arthur Adams, a self-taught artist, became a fan favorite when, at the age of 19, he left his job making pizzas for the masses to pencil the critically-acclaimed Longshot limited series, written by Ann Nocenti and published in 1985 by Marvel Comics. He has been in high demand as an artist since. Adams' highly distinctive and detailed artwork gained him considerable popularity amongst fans and editors, if not his inkers, and he's enjoyed being a cover artist, and the artist and sometime writer for miniseries, specials, and annuals. These days, in order to spare inkers the pain, his work is largely shot directly from pencils or inked by himself, with some exceptions. In his career, Arthur has worked on many titles, Batman, Superman, Spiderman, X men, Godzilla, Vampirella, Rocketeer, the Authority, Danger Girl, Excalibur, and the Hulk, to name a few. He also launched his creator owned, written, and drawn series Monkeyman and O'Brian in 1993 with Dark Horse Comics "Legend" imprint. He also had a ten-issue run on an anthology series featuring the character Jonnie Future. The eight page Jonnie Future stories appeared in Tom Strong's Terrific Tales (2002–2004). More recently, Arthur has been working on Ultimate X for Marvel Comics with writer Jeph Loeb, and issue one launched in 2010. Adams has provided cover images for issues of the Justice League of America, Appleseed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Green Lantern, Hulk, Avengers, X Men, Red Sonja, Superman, Batman, and Vampirella, among other titles. In addition to his work in comic books, he has also produced popular commercial art, such as numerous illustrations for trading cards, posters, shirts, and various other comics-related merchandise. Outside the field of comics, he has also provided illustrations for various magazines, movies, video games, and worked in toy design, packaging art, and even a series of X-Men-themed Campbell Soup cans. Arthur lives in Northern California in the woods somewhere, like his hero, Bigfoot. When told he should have a "Web" site he went outside and tried to spin his own web. It was funny and sad all at once. We got him back inside and gave him his medicine.
