How to troubleshoot the fault when the IPTV service is not smooth
The ONU uses the IGMP mode to deploy the IPTV service. The multicast duplication point is on the Huawei MA5800 OLT. After the service is deployed, all IPTV services of the set-top boxes (STBs) connected to the ONU are not smooth. Network topology:
Possible Cause
The STB is faulty.
The data configuration is incorrect.
The downlink bandwidth of the ONU is insufficient.
A network fault exists.
A fault exists on the upper-layer switch.
A fault exists on the ONU.
A fault exists on the OLT.
Procedure
Connect the STB to another ONU. The fault is not detected. This indicates that the STB is not faulty.
Connect a PC directly to the ONU and test the download speed. The download speed is 5 Mbit/s. This indicates that the fault is not caused by the bandwidth configuration.
On the ONU, ping the IP address of the BRAS. No packets are lost. This indicates that the fault is not caused by the network.
Test the IPTV service on the upper-layer switch. The service is normal. This indicates that the fault is not caused by the upper-layer switch.
Check the configuration data on the OLT. It is found that the MAC address aging time is changed to 10s. The default MAC address aging time is 300s. It is possible that the number of unknown unicast packets is too large and the IPTV service of the ONU is not smooth because the MAC address aging time configured on the OLT is different from that configured on the MA5616.
Run the mac-address timer command to change the MAC aging time on the OLT to 300s. After the modification is complete, the IPTV service becomes normal.
Suggestion and Summary
The default MAC aging time is 300s on either the OLT and the ONU. You are advised not to modify the default value because the inconsistency in the MAC address aging time configured on the OLT and the ONU may generate a lot of unknown unicast packets and affect the service.

Disable the automatic loopback release function on the U2000
Hi, everyone!
As we all know, U2000 NMS plays an important role in our system control and maintance, Huawei DWDM OSN8800, Huawei SDH OSN3500, Huawei OLT MA5800 etc... all need U2000 Network Management Software, so today I'm going to introduce you how to disable the automatic loopback release function on the U2000.
Problem Description
The loopback function is often used during fault diagnosis. The U2000 automatically releases the loopback, which affects fault locating. Therefore, you need to disable automatic loopback release on the U2000.
Handling Process
On the U2000, choose Configuration > NE Batch Configuration> Automatic Disabling of NE Function.
In the Automatic Disabling of NE Function box, search for the target NE and modify the parameters that forbid automatic release of loopbacks, as shown in the following figure.
Root Cause
The automatic loopback release function of the NE can be configured on the NMS. For details, see the handling process.
Solution
On the NMS, we can disable automatic loopback release.
To facilitate fault locating, you can disable automatic release of loopback on the NMS. However, it is not recommended that you disable automatic release of loopback unless otherwise required. This prevents line interruption caused by forgetting to release loopback.
