How Do I Get Into Probate Law in Melbourne?
Tumblr media
If you are intrigued by the legal processes surrounding wills, estates, and the management of a deceased person’s assets, a career in probate law could be an excellent choice. For those in Melbourne, Florida, becoming a probate lawyer involves several educational and professional steps. Here’s a guide to help you navigate the path.
1. Understand Probate Law
Probate law focuses on the legal procedures involved in distributing a deceased person’s estate, resolving disputes, and ensuring the lawful execution of wills. A probate attorney may also handle guardianship issues, trusts, and tax implications related to inheritance. Gaining a solid understanding of these areas will help you determine if this legal specialty aligns with your interests and career goals.
2. Obtain a Bachelor’s Degree
Before entering law school, you must complete an undergraduate degree. While there is no specific major required for law school, degrees in fields such as political science, business, or criminal justice can provide a strong foundation. Coursework in communication, research, and critical thinking is especially beneficial.
3. Take the LSAT
The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a critical step in applying to law schools. The LSAT assesses your analytical reasoning, logical reasoning, and reading comprehension skills. Preparing thoroughly for this exam can improve your chances of gaining admission to a reputable law school.
4. Earn a Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree
Enroll in an accredited law school and complete a Juris Doctor program, typically a three-year course of study. During law school, consider taking elective courses in estate planning, trust law, and taxation to build expertise in probate law. Participating in internships or clerkships with firms specializing in probate cases can also provide valuable practical experience.
5. Pass the Florida Bar Exam
To practice law in Melbourne, Florida, you must pass the Florida Bar Exam. This rigorous exam tests your knowledge of federal and state laws, including probate laws specific to Florida. Preparing for the bar exam requires dedication and thorough study.
6. Gain Experience
After obtaining your license, work in a law firm or legal setting that focuses on probate cases. This hands-on experience will help you refine your skills and build a network of professional contacts. Some new attorneys start as associates in firms with experienced probate lawyers to gain mentorship and practical exposure.
7. Build Your Reputation
Establishing yourself as a reputable probate lawyer in Melbourne, FL, involves more than technical expertise. Building relationships with clients, maintaining ethical standards, and staying updated on legal developments are crucial. Joining professional associations like the Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section can also enhance your credibility.
Conclusion
Becoming a probate attorney, requires commitment and perseverance. By following these steps and focusing on continuous learning, you can build a rewarding career helping clients navigate complex legal matters related to estates and probate law.

poisoned mercury | now you got me
Tumblr media
ix. now you got me by inhaler

the happy little bubble you and luke made for yourselves inevitably bursted a few days after you made it official– though if you asked luke, you rejected his advances, which always earned an eye roll from you followed by a long kiss to his lips that had him silent for the next five minutes. you knew he was milking the hell out of you saying no to his question until he let you listen to the song, but you were his and he was yours regardless of the title.
you stared at yourself in the mirror, blushing as you ran your fingers down the marks on your neck. you added a turtleneck under your chb shirt, not having enough energy to cover up the marks on your neck with makeup, and you definitely didn’t have the energy to explain to people how you got them. thankfully, the weather cooperated with you today. it was unusually cold for the summer, a slight breeze entering your room from your opened window. as you continued to get ready for the day, your phone buzzed with a text from your dad.
‘hey kid, can you come to my office real quick?’
you hadn’t spoken to your dad in weeks, not since he stormed out of the cabin after finding out what started the fight with your teammate. this was the longest you’d gone without speaking to him. you texted a thumbs up and made your way out of your room.
luke was sitting on the coffee table in the middle of everyone, looking at you with wondering eyes, “where are you going?”
“my dad wants to talk.”
“do you want me to come with you?” luke got up from where he sat. you told him last night that you’d been avoiding your dad as much as possible, and he did the same with you. as much as you guys butted heads, luke knew that it was taking a toll on you. you shared that you were scared about what would become of your relationship with your dad. luke, being as close to his mom as you were with your dad, understood. he knew what it was like to feel like your biggest supporter was giving up on you. it wasn’t a feeling he’d wish on his worst enemy, and definitely not a feeling he’d ever wish on you.
“no, it’s fine,” you clenched your jaw, shaking your head.
luke’s shoulders slumped over as he stuttered in his actions to sit back down, “oh, okay–uh, let me know if you need anything.”
you nodded and waved a small goodbye before exiting the cabin. your heart was pounding the entire time you made your way to your dad’s office. a lot of things had been weighing on you this summer– your probation, a possible dent on your record, your estrangement from your parents, luke– and it was a lot to handle. camp half blood was supposed to keep you away from the problems that existed in your day-to-day life, but it seemed to follow you.
you entered your dad’s office to see him typing away on his laptop. his eyebrows raised when you walked in, motioning for you to shut the door. he closed his laptop and placed it in one of the drawers of his desk. he took a deep breath, “hey, kid.”
“hi, dad,” you replied, suddenly feeling like a little kid again. you sat on the usual chair in front of his desk and leaned back, “what’s up?”
“i, uh,” he cleared his throat, “i just wanted to say i’m sorry for how we left things. i shouldn’t have stormed out like that. i was just angry. but not at you, at myself for making you feel like you had to fight these battles for me.”
he leaned across his desk to hold your hands, “you’re my kid, y’know. my job is to protect you, not the other way around. so i apologize if i ever made you feel like you had to come to my defense.”
“and i’m sorry for being mia the last few weeks,” he chuckled, squeezing your hands, “i’ve been in contact with my lawyers and they’re working on making sure the charges against you don’t stick so i’ve been pretty busy with that.”
“you think it’ll get sorted out?” you asked.
“yeah, don’t worry about it. it’s finishing up and i think you might even be able to play this season,” your dad smiled. “but i have to deal with a pr crisis right now that sprung up on me this morning.”
your shoulders relaxed at your dad’s words. at least your probation was getting sorted out. that was one less thing to worry about. you tugged on the sleeves of your turtleneck as you got comfortable on your chair, “what’s the pr crisis?”
he sighed, pulling out his laptop, “something with the band.”
you hoped your dad didn’t notice the slight widening of your eyes. because you hadn’t been talking to your dad, he didn’t know about the recent developments between you and luke. you two didn’t show much pda outside of the cabin, scared that one of the campers would break their nda and post a picture of the two of you. neither of you were ready to tell the world about you two yet. it’s too soon. you didn’t even have the “what’s going to happen to us after summer?” conversation yet.
“what happened?”
“some pap pictures leaked. it’s of this new actress in hollywood and a guy leaving her hotel room. the press is reporting that the guy is luke. it looks a lot like him and you know the media– they run any story that’ll get them clicks even if it’s not fully fact-checked as long as they add the word ‘allegedly’ to the article,” he rolled his eyes, turning his computer to face you. “nobody knows where the pictures came from, so we don’t know if it’s actually luke or not, but i’ve been on the phone with may and their team all morning trying to do damage control. she’s telling the guys about the pictures right now.”
at first glance, your heart dropped to your stomach. the guy did look an awful lot like luke. the rational part of you knew that this was probably taken before the two of you met because you’ve seen him every day since and he was practically imprisoned at chb all summer, but then you thought of your impromptu trip to achilles’ arcade and it made you want to throw up. if luke could sneak away with you like that, it would’ve been easy for him to do the same when he was alone.
were the nights he didn’t spend in your bed because he was “writing” just an excuse to sneak off to meet up with the girl in the picture? she was gorgeous, after all. blonde, tall, the perfect new hollywood star. they’d make such a great power couple. the two rising stars in their respective industries, the perfect pair.
the boy’s face, who may or may not be luke, was covered by his hood, but you can clearly see that he was kissing the girl deeply, with his hand placed on the curve of her back. the next picture was them with their fingers laced together as she led him into the hotel, giggling at something he said. the guy had a similar build as luke and dressed the same way as he did when he was having a lazy day– sweatpants, hoodie, and converses.
bile made its way up your throat as you continued to scroll through the pictures. you looked at the time stamp of the photos and closed your eyes, wincing, when you saw that they were taken two days ago. luke didn’t sleep in your room two days ago, nor was he in the cabin. he showed up the next day saying that he was in the studio, trying to finish up the song so you would officially accept being his girlfriend.
you squinted at a close-up picture of the pair, zoning in on the guy's hand. you breathed out a sigh of relief, fingers immediately clutching the ring that rested on your index finger. you turned the laptop back to your dad, “that’s not luke.”
his eyebrows shot up, looking between you and his laptop screen, “how do you know?”
“look at his rings,” you pointed at the bands around the guy’s fingers, “luke doesn’t wear a ring on his ring finger anymore. and look, the guy has a ring there and it’s gold.”
“how are you so sure? what if he just decided to wear it that day?”
“trust me,” you waved off, “he’s particular about his jewelry. he stopped wearing one on his ring finger a while ago. and luke doesn’t wear gold jewelry.”
your dad narrowed his eyes at you suspiciously, shutting his laptop, “i didn’t realize you were that close to luke that you had his accessories memorized.”
“ah– well,” you cleared your throat, looking down at your feet. you felt caught. “s’your fault, really. you made us live together.”
“is there something you need to tell me, kid?”
you got up from your seat, quickly making your way to the door, “geez, dad, i didn’t realize the time! i promised clar that i’d help her with camp duties, so i gotta go. thanks for all your help on the probation and permanent record thing. you’re the best!”
you didn’t bother to turn around to see your dad’s reaction to your excuse. you knew that he could see right through you.
you dad called from behind you, his joking tone camouflaged by his “dad” voice, “tell castellan that if he does anything wrong, i’ll kill him and his career!”
“love you!”
your dad shook his head, biting back the smile on his face, “love you too, kid.”
as you were rushing back to your cabin, you ran smack dab into luke who was frantic, worry evident on his features. his eyes widened when he saw you and he placed his hands on your shoulders, steadying you so you didn’t fall at the impact.
“five star,” he sighed out, out of breath, “i don’t know if mr. d told you but those pictures aren’t me, i swear!”
you had two options– you could one, tell him that you knew it wasn’t him and put him out of his misery or two, you could pretend to not believe him and make him sweat. luke looked like he was about to get on his knees and beg you to believe him. you wouldn’t be surprised if he made a powerpoint presentation listing the reasons why it wasn’t him in those pictures.
you pursed your lips, “i saw the pictures luke.”
“and they weren’t me!” he said, exasperated. his eyebrows knitted in anxiety, as he chewed on the nail of his thumb, “you gotta believe me, babe. i don’t know who that guy is but i can promise you it’s not me.”
you tried not to swoon at the pet name that left his lips. “how do i know that? you weren’t home the night those pictures were taken.”
“i know it looks bad, but look,” he ran a hand through his curls. “i finished the song the boys wrote and you can go listen to it right now, but then that night, i got caught up with a song idea about you and i stayed up all night to write it. you can listen to the demo right now if you want. you can listen to all the demos you want if that gets you to believe me. i think the recordings have timestamps too, so you’ll see i was in there all nigh–”
“down, pretty boy,” you couldn’t keep it up any longer. luke looked like he was two seconds away from bursting into tears and as much as you wanted to hear him yap, you didn’t have it in your heart to drag it on. you chuckled, wrapping your arms around his neck. you pressed a soft kiss to his lips and he instantly relaxed at the feeling.
your lips moved in sync as his hands found your waist, pressing you closer to him. his tongue licked your bottom lip, asking for permission, which you gladly granted. it was the sound of clarisse and chris inside the cabin, tapping against the windows that pulled you and luke apart. you both turned to look at your friends who all had shit-eating grins on their faces.
travis and connor were behind the couple, shaking their heads, “get a fucking room, you heathens.”
luke flipped them off and pressed a softer, more innocent kiss on your lips before you spoke. “i knew it wasn’t you. just wanted to see you sweat a little bit.”
“that was mean,” he pouted, but he couldn’t fight off the smile on his face. he always seemed to smile after he kissed you. it made you want to kiss him again, starting a never-ending chain of kisses that would surely lead the two of you to be unproductive for the rest of the day. “i was so scared, five star, you have no idea. the fucker looked so much like me.”
you laughed, playing with the curls on the nape of his neck, “trust me, i know. my heart dropped to my ass when i first saw them, but i knew it wasn’t you.”
“how’d you know?”
“the rings,” you flushed, thinking about how crazy you must sound knowing these small details about him.
“shit, five star,” he whistled, surprised. there was a warmth in his chest that spread throughout the rest of his body at the idea of you paying attention to these things about him. “nothing can get past you, huh? i didn’t even notice that.”
“yeah, at least you know not to sneak around behind me because i’ll find out,” you teased, lacing your fingers together as you slowly made your way up the steps of the cabin. luke stood in his spot, pulling on your hand to get you to to turn around. you walked over to him, confused, “what’s up?”
“y’know i wouldn’t think of doing that, right?” he asked, voice suddenly serious. “i would never do that to you.”
your eyes softened as a wistful look appeared on your face. you kissed his cheeks, relishing in the feeling of luke wrapping his arms around your torso in a tight hug. you pressed your face into the crook of his neck, placing a feather-light kiss on his jugular, “yeah, yeah.”
“‘m serious,” he pulled away, holding your face in his hands. he was staring at you intently, making sure that you were hearing his words. you never gave him an indication that you didn’t trust him, but luke knew that it was better to tell you these things straight up if he wanted to have a real relationship with you. he knew it takes a toll on the people he dates (not that he’s had any relationships like what he has with you) to see these bullshit stories online. if he was in your position, he knew the reassurance would help. luke placed a kiss on your forehead, “i wouldn’t do anything to mess this up if i can help it, five star.”
you let out a forced laugh, awkwardly shifting in his grasp, “yeah, given that my dad controls your contract, i know you wouldn’t.”
luke frowned, “not because of that.”
“uh huh,” you said, feeling too vulnerable right now. you didn’t know how to handle this situation, so you coped with humor, “he likes you so don’t worry, your contract extension is practically in the bag.”
“y/n.”
you tensed at luke’s use of your real name. he never called you by your name. he always called you by the nickname he gave you when he first met you. five star. you knew luke wasn’t in the mood to joke around. “luke, it’s fine.”
“i don’t want to pick a fight,” he sighed, playing with the hem of your shirt, “but i just need to hear you say that you believe me when i say that. i wouldn’t cheat on you or do anything to make you feel like i ever would.”
your voice shook as you spoke, “what if you’re just saying that because it’s still summer and we see each other every day? what’s gonna happen when i’m back in school and you’re out in the world traveling and living your rockstar life?”
luke’s heart broke at your words. did you really think that he would forget about all of this once september rolled around? as if you didn’t consume his thoughts every day since he met you, as if he didn’t count down the minutes until he got to see you again when he was forced to be away from you because he had things to do, as if he didn’t have a sinking feeling in his stomach when you weren’t next to him. he was starting to think you didn’t understand just how deeply he felt about you even when you assured him that you did understand.
“i’m not gonna lie, long distance is gonna be hard,” he said, “but we can figure it out. i know it.”
“i never knew you were such an optimist, castellan.”
luke laughed at that. if only you knew how many times he psyched himself out of making a move on you because of his own pessimism. it only changed recently, when he finally decided to say fuck it and go for it. “for you? always. i’d be stupid not to be. you’re a good thing, five star.”
luke fucking castellan. you pressed your head into his chest, feeling his rapid heartbeat against your face. he gave you a tight squeeze, placing a kiss on the crown of your head. he loved having you like this, all soft and cuddly with him like you didn’t want to let him go. he should be scared at how quickly he was falling for you, how attached he already felt.
you kissed his lips again, pulling away with a smile, “so babe huh?”
“babe, baby, sweetheart,” he mumbled, leaning over to kiss you again. “anythin’ you want.”

Writing tips for death/funerals/bodies from someone who has worked in the funeral industry for over 3 years
-Bodies actually feel warmer immediately after death due to a condition called postmortem caloricity. This briefly raises the body temperature as bacteria within the gut start moving.
-Rigor mortis has three stages: primary flaccidity, active rigor, and secondary flaccidity. Active rigor starts around 3-6 hours after death. Active rigor will make the body stiff, but not immovable. Secondary flaccidity starts around 30-50 hours after death. This is when decomposition will start to be visibly noticeable. In lower temperatures, active rigor may last longer.
-The first sign of active decomposition is a green tinge in the the lower abdomen
-Funeral Directors NEVER read out a will. This is the duty of a probate lawyer
-Hearses never pick up bodies from their place of death. Hearses are used to ceremonially transport casketed bodies from the place of the funeral to the place of final internment. Funeral homes and mortuaries will use unmarked mini vans or transport vans to pick up bodies from hospitals, nursing facilities, homes, etc.
-a dead person’s eyes shouldn’t be cloudy soon after death unless they already had cataracts. Eyes stay relatively clear until a few days after death. If a body was refrigerated or in cold temps, eyes might become cloudy sooner.
-Perfectly frozen bodies will tend to look essentially the same as they did in life, sometimes including having flushed cheeks and fingers. This flush will turn darker and more gray over long periods of time.
-The body of someone who died from asphyxiation (choking, hanging, suffocating, drowning) may appear blue/gray in color briefly after death.
-The body of someone who died from carbon monoxide poisoning will exhibit cherry read discoloration in their face and extremities, and sometimes their whole body.
-Often times people who were older, who had a liver condition, were obese, or were an alcoholic will be severely jaundiced (yellow) after death
-livor mortis is a postmortem condition that consists of blood settling into areas from gravity. For example, someone laying on their back during death will have a purple/gray/red “staining” in their back, butt, backs of their legs etc, parts of the body that are close to the ground.
-For the love of God, organs are not removed during embalming. This is not part of the embalming process. Autopsies may remove visceral organs for examination. If you search “modern embalming process” on youtube or google you should get a run-down on how modern embalming is done. Embalming in most cases is also NOT permanent. The body will start to decompose after about 2-5 weeks.
-“Clinical Death” is a term used for the cessation of hearbeat function, where life can still be restored through intervention. When writing about someone who briefly died but came back because of hospital intervention, you can say they were “clinically dead”. “Brain death” is when brain function has ceased but organ function is maintained through life support. “Biological death” is cessation of organ and brain activity due to lack of oxygen. This is irreversible. “Legal death” is when a medical professional has declared someone as dead and a death certificate is issued.
-NOT ALL STATES HAVE CORONERS. If you are writing a story in a particular US state, do some quick research to see if they have a coroner or a state medical examiner. Coroners are an elected position and don’t need a medical license, they examine evidence from crime scenes and autopsied. Medical examiners perform autopsies and do need a medical license.
-If someone dies under unknown circumstances, they will be subject to autopsy. This can be as benign as having a heart attack or slipping at home, or as malignant as being murdered.
-this is tangental but Cancer does NOT cause your hair to fall out. CHEMOTHERAPY may cause hair to fall out. Not everyone that has cancer or gets chemo will lose hair. People that have cancer in their upper body (breast, lung, throat etc) are more likely to lose hair than people with cancer in their lower body (genital, rectal, colon, intestinal etc)
If anyone can think of anything else let me know!

On Friday, Kenneth Chesebro pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to file false documents in the Fulton County 2020 election conspiracy case, becoming the second high-level Donald Trump co-defendant to become a state’s witness in two days. Chesebro received an especially lenient sentence of five years’ probation, a small financial penalty, and 100 hours of community service.
With the guilty plea and cooperation deal Georgia prosecutors struck on Thursday with Team Trump attorney Sidney Powell, Chesebro’s plea deal should be viewed as an earthquake in the case against Trump. Given Powell’s close proximity to the former president and his legal advisers at crucial times in his attempts to overturn the 2020 election, her testimony will be particularly devastating not only as to defendant Trump, but to co-defendants Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman.
Chesebro’s testimony, meanwhile, implicates one of the key portions of the conspiracy both in Georgia and in the federal Jan. 6 case against Trump, specifically the efforts to create a slate of “false electors” to use during the Jan. 6 electoral count to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Now that both Chesebro and Powell are cooperating witnesses, the pressure on Giuliani and Eastman to plead and cooperate is exponentially higher.
That the significant cooperation under discussion involves four of Trump’s attorneys underscores the reality that the former president’s regularly touted defense that he was relying on the good-faith guidance of his attorneys during the attempted coup was, and is, nothing more than self-serving fantasy. In the courtroom—as compared with on television or in social media—he has never had the ability to offer that defense.
In court, the advice of counsel “affirmative defense” requires a defendant to prove two things: First, that he relied in good faith on his lawyer’s advice that the conduct in question at trial was legal, and second, that he made a full disclosure of all relevant facts to the attorney before receiving that advice.
Based on my four decades in the courtroom as both federal prosecutor and defense attorney, I can report that the assertion of the attorney-client privilege by a criminal defendant at trial is a black swan event—effective only with the consistent, overlapping trial testimony of both the attorney and the defendant, and the admission into evidence of any documents reflecting the communications or advice they testified about.
Putting aside the substantial evidence that Trump was warned by numerous White House lawyers that his efforts to overturn the 2020 election were in violation of the law, how does Trump establish the advice of counsel defense at trial?
As I have observed in prior articles, he is certainly not able to testify on his own behalf. There are surely no memos to the file, emails, or letters to the client evidencing such advice in writing. Finally in this regard, what lawyer is willing to testify he or she advised Trump it was, for example, lawful for him to ask the Georgia secretary of state to “find” enough votes for him to win that state?
Long before the Powell and Chesebro deals were announced, the absurdity of expecting any Trump attorney’s testimony to be anything but harmful to his cause was made crystal clear by Michael Cohen. More recently, when Trump lawyer Evan Corcoran was forced to testify against the former president based on the “crime fraud” exception to the attorney-client privilege, the testimony he gave and the internal memos he was compelled to produce, proved not to be shields for the former president, but swords to be wielded against him—as it is with Powell and Chesebro, and so it will be with others.
After all, what can you expect when your standard for choosing at least some of your lawyers is their willingness to turn a blind eye to whatever your weak ego and malicious intentions require?
In sum, while Georgia and DOJ attorneys have each received great potential benefits from the Powell and Chesebro deals, it was in no way structured to protect against a defense they know Trump cannot employ.
Finally, speaking of structure, the great deals Powell and Chesebro struck, getting probation while facing up to 20 years in jail on a RICO conviction, are certainly a blessing for them—they even get to finally tell the truth.
But District Attorney Fani Willis’ seeming generosity is a sign of shrewd judgment, not weakness.
Prosecutors have both the carrot and the stick to get what they want, and the two deals Willis just made were large carrots, signaling to the other defendants that she is someone they can deal with, and that there are potentially acceptable pathways out of the mess they are in. At the same time, she has just made her case against other, more significant defendants meaningfully stronger and her stick that much larger.
Of course, Willis is a long way from where she needs to be, but those who had originally feared she had overindicted the 19-defendant RICO case might now be a little less concerned and a little more impressed.

Been working on a new fic on the side, and I'm hoping to have it out sometime soon. I'm planning on it being relatively short (for me at least, lol!) with maybe two chapters or it just being a long oneshot.
I had this idea hit me hard when I went to visit Tanganikya Wildlife Park earlier this month and saw these cute babies being bottle fed:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YES, THOSE ARE BABY SNOW LEOPARDS!! They were adorable and watching them gave me some seriously wonderful mdtb ideas.
What you need to know for this AU:
Madara is a single dad in this, raising a recently orphaned Kagami. His cousin Shisui can see Madara is edging on burnout, and suggests that he take Kagami to the wildlife park Shisui works at in an attempt to get them both to relax and have a little fun.
In the process Madara meets the capable (and very distracting) animal handler Tobirama who manages the care of the big cats for the park, including the nursery.
Shisui can see the sparks flying between them and, like any good wingman would, decides to help his very useless cousin win a date.
Here's a sneak peak below :3 Enjoy! :
“Uncle, look, look! There’s cousin Shisui!”
Madara barely bit back a sigh as he was all but pulled towards the waving figure of his own uncle’s eldest son who stood just beyond the turnstiles of Konoha’s Wildlife Park with a warm smile on his face.
“I see him, Kagami-kun,” Madara reassured Kagami as he allowed the boy to lead them towards Shisui through the modest bustle of people heading to and from the giftshop which sat adjacent to the entrance they had just exited.
He knew he should correct Kagami’s manhandling, but it was the most excited he’d seen his nephew in weeks since Shisui had first suggested bringing Kagami to the park. His cousin had been nice enough to offer to give them a behind the scenes tour even though he knew Shisui was just as busy as Madara was. As one of the park’s program managers that oversaw the various animal handlers that worked within the park, Shisui had somehow been able to pull strings to make their visit possible, and Madara was beyond grateful for it even though he strongly suspected Shisui was likely to ask for a favor in return.
Madara couldn't say he minded the way Shisui had continued to try and force himself into Madara's sphere the last few months, when before they'd seen each other maybe once a year, if that. He probably owed Shisui more than a few favors in totality, honestly, if he thought back on all that Shisui had done for him lately.
They all were still reeling from the unexpected loss of Kou and his wife to a horrific car accident nearly a year ago, but his nephew most of all. Kagami’s entire life had been upended in a short amount of time, and it was understandably taking some time for the boy to heal and work through his loss.
Madara and Izuna had quickly moved to do what they could to pick up the pieces, Madara by taking in his older brother’s son and Izuna by chipping in to help with smoothing out the legal aspects Madara hadn’t been prepared to face down on his own. As a well known corporate lawyer, Izuna had been invaluable in guiding them through the probate process as well as the legal guardianship considerations they’d had to undertake in order for Madara to legally adopt Kagami. Dealing with the loss of Kou had been hard enough to stomach, but all of the paperwork they’d had to complete in addition to divesting of Kou’s estate had been a special kind of hell that Madara never wanted to experience again.
Only now were things starting to begin to feel a little more normal more days than not, even though Madara still hadn’t quite wrapped his head around the fact he’d essentially become a father in all but name. He didn’t know how Kou and his wife had done it, frankly. Kagami was a good child, but he was a handful to say the least. At seven the boy had more energy than Madara ever remembered having even at Kagami's age, and Madara continually found himself exhausted beyond reason no matter what he did.
Maybe it would be easier with another person in the picture to help lighten the load so to speak, but Madara hadn’t been the most social of people even before adopting Kagami, both out of choice and because his job as a very in demand ophthalmic surgeon made it difficult at the best of times to find any time to get out to meet people.
It hadn’t gotten any calmer, truthfully. Especially now that he’d had to structure things a bit more tightly to make certain his schedule was more predictable so he could be home with Kagami during normal hours.
It was good Izuna was always willing to fill in for him if his own schedule permitted, but it was another layer of stress Madara hadn’t had to deal with before, and he was only just beginning to grow used to having to fit his life around another human being’s.
To be frank, Madara very much needed a vacation. Kagami did, too. Unfortunately such a thing wasn't possible at the moment for a variety of reasons, which was where Shisui's brilliant idea came into play.
“There’s my favorite little man!” Shisui beamed down at Kagami, making a show of looking him up and down. “You’re looking a little bigger, Kagami-kun.”
“That’s cause he is,” Madara cut in, not even bothering to fight back the sigh he let out. The amount of clothing Kagami was going through was simply ridiculous at the moment. “He’s grown another three inches since you saw him in February.”
Shisui’s eyebrows shot up at that, his surprise not faked in the slightest as he stared down at Kagami with a blatantly impressed expression.
“No kidding? You’re going to be eating Madara-san out of house and home, soon at the rate you’re going.”
“No I’m not!” Kagami giggled at that, looking quite pleased with himself and Madara lightly scuffed the boy’s hair, unable to help the fond look he directed down at his young nephew.
“Yeah, you actually are,” Madara dryly insisted, before his hand came to rest atop Kagami’s messy head of hair.
“Kou was a tall bas–” Shisui started to say only to quickly correct his choice of wording when Madara shot him a look hot enough to melt steel, “tall dude. Your mama, too. My money’s on you being just as tall when you grow up, Kagami-kun. So, ready to see some animals?”
Madara had to give it to Shisui, it was a near perfect diversion away from his near slip up, but unlike Kagami who had perked up at the promise of seeing the park's inhabitants and had already forgotten their previous conversation, Madara made sure to level a flat look at his cousin that served as a wordless warning he knew Shisui would understand implicitly.
“Right! Well, let’s get going then!” Shisui quickly clapped his hands together in a near hysterical manner, and Madara had to stifle the snort that very nearly escaped him in response.

Ok, but do Mick and Terri have BF (before Floyd) designs? Like whenever they first met.
Sorry it took me a while to get to this! Wanted to get some what-if younger designs done for Terri and Mick to answer this!
Tumblr media
I can't go too into detail with some stuff relating to Terri as it'll come up in a new multiple chapter story involving a younger Floyd and baby Animal, but I'll include a few small facts about the both of them:
Terri: -So according to a post I saw on here the events in Muppets Mayhem ep 6 during Teeth's flashbacks is set in the 60's. Terri's father was a lawyer (debating on him possibly holding some position in the miliraty before he got married) and her mother was a teacher, Terri in the beginning was attending college aspiring to become a music teacher and working part time at a bar. She was a bit of a loner and came off as sort of rude to other people, she was a very goal driven person so tended to place value on her work and future more then making friends.
-During the 60's there was a lot more standards and expectations for genders. While men where welcomed into careers more suited for women, women struggled to achieve job positions of higher pay such as firefighters or police officers. It was mostly thanks to these changing times that Terri became such a driven person, hoping to build herself a strong career despite all the expectations placed upon women of her age
-She met Mick when he and his biker friends where passing through town and they stopped in at the bar she was working at. Mick flirted with her, and Terri calmly shot him down before probably saying how Mick had dirt or something on his shirt. A couple days later he showed back up and Terri ended up having a genuine conversation with him which she might have enjoyed a bit. She'd had a frustrating morning and so talking with Mick helped her vent off some steam
-This is one I can't go into too much detail with, but Terri's parents hate Mick with the heat of a thousand suns
Mick:
-Mick was young, cool and just a bit dumb. He lived a comfortable life in Boston before he turned 18 and he and his biker friends set off on travelling about the world. Through out their journey they eventually get to San Franisco. Mick was getting a taste of the big world for the first time and the thrill of it all inflated his confidence, which is firmly knocked down a peg at Terri's harsh shutdown. He makes amends a few days later, he didn't actually mean to offend her, he just thought she was pretty.
-A day before Mick and his friends prepare to leave they wind up in a small brawl with another biker crew. Mick wasn't the aggressor, but he did say somethings that didn't help the situation. It ends up in a small chase on bikes, which leads to a pile up and crash, which Mick and his friends thankfully leave mostly unscathed. Thanks to the trouble they caused Mick and his pals end up arrested, but after gathering reports from witnesses and it was decided they weren't the ones responsible they're released on probation, thanks to Terri's dad. Again, can't go too in depth, but Terri's dad took pity on the younger boys and helped them out
-Not only is Mick on probation but his bike got wrecked in the crash, so now he has to save up for a new one. Terri's dad places him in community jobs such as trash cleaning and otherwork like that. Mick is not exactly happy at the situation, but with some good behaviour Terri's dad arranges him a job working at the same bar Terri works at. Terri's dad figured it would be a good way to keep an eye on him, since Terri would be able to directly report to him. This is how the two gradually become friends and, overtime, lovers. Terri began to sneak cuts of her pay into Mick's at the end of each month at the bar to help him get his bike back, because she could tell Mick wasn't truly happy being stuck there. Mick finds her out one day when he catches her messing with their monthly payments, it leads to the two accidentally confessing to each other (at this point they've had like a few dates, which neither dare say is a date out of embarrassment, and are dancing around each other). They have a small argument about it then Mick leaves
-Shortly after that Terri finds out she's pregnant and they both end up leaving San Francisco. Mick quits his biker gang, Terri homes out of home and they - especially Terri - never looked back

---
News of Mystra’s arrest spread through the town like wildfire. Tav received numerous texts from friends and acquaintances asking if it was true. She kept tight-lipped about it. Gale was already the subject of enough gossip as it was, now that rumours of his relationship with Mystra were starting to spread.
Tav had no idea how it had gotten out, but it didn’t surprise her. The dean hadn’t all seemed that concerned about protecting Gale’s privacy.
It made her angry, but Gale just shrugged it off. “One way or another, people are going to find out eventually.”
Come Monday, Gale was called back into the dean’s office to discuss the situation. Tav waited outside, as she’d done before, her hands curled into anxious fists in her lap.
She had hoped for good news, but when Gale stepped out of the office, he just looked tired.
“What? What is it?” she asked.
“They’ve put her on probation while they investigate the issue,” he said.
“But…” Instinctively, Tav’s hand went to her throat. “Her arrest?”
“She wasn’t charged with anything. She’s got good lawyers.”
For the first time since Mystra had come to their house, her firing didn’t seem like a sure thing. Tav swallowed hard. Her throat still hurt every time she did so.
“Do you need a lawyer?” she asked. Although Astarion had alluded to legal consequences for the university, it was the first time Tav had considered it.
“My mother has been speaking to our family’s lawyer. I didn’t want to involve him in this but I may have to.” It was times like these that Tav remembered that Gale came from money. It was easy to forget when he was just Gale, the ridiculous, brilliant, handsome young man that she lived with, that he was also Gale Dekarios, whose family had a lawyer.
He slipped his hand into hers and squeezed. Handholding was becoming more and more common for them these days. It just felt natural. Tav didn’t quite know what to make of it.
“You ready to go home?” he asked.
“Absolutely.”
*
The university was dragging its feet. As exam time drew closer, Tav found herself growing more and more agitated at their refusal to fire Mystra. She was still on probation, but she hadn’t even been suspended, which meant that she was still on campus.
Tav saw her sometimes, and she always felt an anxious twist in her gut whenever their eyes met. She couldn’t imagine how Gale felt.
She wished that she had done more than just punch Mystra in her face. It embarrassed her how easily the other woman had overpowered her, but Gale had told her afterwards that Mystra was a black belt, so it was no surprise. That was just another thing to make her anxious.
For the time being, her and Gale had agreed to forget about Mystra and get their heads down studying. Tav was pretty sure she would’ve failed all her exams if he hadn’t been for him forcing her to study with him. Even though chemistry wasn’t his speciality, he knew enough to ask her reasonable questions to test her knowledge, and to listen to her explanations of the concepts she needed to understand.
By her last exam, she was dead on her feet. Gale seemed much the same. He had been holding it together during exam season, but as soon as it was over, the façade cracked. She had pretended not to notice his tears as they curled up together in her bed watching a movie, but she took his hand between her own.
“I’ve been thinking,” he said as the credits began to roll, and then trailed off.
Tav’s eyelids were starting to get heavy, so she propped herself up on her elbow. “About what?”
“About applying for PhD programmes at different universities. I know I had my heart set on staying here but this place feels tainted, now.”
Tav regarded him, trying to read his expression. The light in the room was dim, but she could still just about make out his features.
“It can’t hurt to look into other options,” she said slowly. “But I also don’t think you should let Mystra push you away from this place if you think it’s the best option. She’s taken enough from you.”
Gale huffed out a laugh. “Mystra was the main reason I wanted to study here in the first place.” Tav frowned, but said nothing. “I wanted to study under her. I did, and it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.” He shrugged. “But there are some pretty interesting programmes in other cities.”
Tav reached over and touched his face. His tears had dried, but she still swiped her thumb under his eye as if wiping one away.
“I’m proud of you,” she said. “For breaking away from her. And I think you should do whatever feels right to you.”
Gale caught her hand and squeezed. “It would probably mean taking a year out. But that’s fine. It might be good for me to live a little before diving into more academia. Thank you for believing in me.”
*
This year had been hard. A couple of months had passed since Gale had reported Mystra to the dean. To Tav’s surprise, she found Gale waiting for her outside her chemistry lab one Friday afternoon. He was practically vibrating with excitement.
“Gale? What are you doing here?”
“They fired her.” His face split into a grin.
“Mystra?” she asked, as if he could possibly be referring to anyone else.
“The very same.”
The laugh burst out of her suddenly, and then he was wrapping her up in his arms and lifting her off her feet. Other students were walking past and giving them the side-eye, but Tav didn’t care. Her heart was thundering in her chest.
When he set her down, she took a moment to catch her breath. He was beaming at her in a way that made it hard to.
“Why now?” she asked.
“I’m not really supposed to know this but about a week ago, another student came forward. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
“God, Gale,” she said, grabbing his hands. “I’m so glad it’s over. We should celebrate.”
“Oh, I’m way ahead of you there. Wyll is getting the gang together and Astarion is sourcing the booze. You ready to go?”
“I need to drop my labcoat and glassware off in my locker, but then I will be.”
“Great, I promised I’d pick up some snacks from the supermarket on the way back.”
*
By the time the two of them made it home, Shadowheart and Astarion were fully in party set-up mode. They’d also clearly been pre-drinking, but neither Gale nor Tav commented on that.
“I need to shower,” said Tav. “I smell like acetone.”
“Really? I thought you smelt quite nice actually,” said Gale. She felt her face flush. Looking away from Gale, she caught Shadowheart’s eye, who raised her eyebrows at her.
“Text me when you’re done,” said Shadowheart. “I need help choosing my outfit.”
“Why are you asking Tav for outfit advice when I’m right here- Oof.” She cut Astarion off with an elbow to the gut and a look that Tav didn’t understand the significance of.
Once Tav had showered, it became clear very quickly that when Shadowheart said that she needed help choosing her outfit, what she actually meant was that she wanted to dress Tav up like a doll.
“I don’t see the point of all this,” said Tav as Shadowheart threw another dress at her. “It’s just a house party with friends. I’m going to be so overdressed.”
“This is a party for Gale,” said Shadowheart, grinning at her. “Don’t you want to dress up nice for Gale?”
Tav flushed. “Don’t make fun of me.”
“I’m not! He likes you! Haven’t you noticed the way he looks at you?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Didn’t you see what his ex looks like? I can’t compete.”
Shadowheart scoffed. “You didn’t see the look on his face when you punched Mystryl. He looked like he wanted to take a bite out of you.”
Tav’s skin felt hot. “You’re being ridiculous,” she said.
Shadowheart ignored her. “Try this. It really emphasizes your boobs.”
In spite of herself, Tav found that she had to agree. The dark blue low-cut dress hugged her curves flatteringly. She wasn’t the most self-confident person but even she thought she looked hot.
“Wear these.” Shadowheart tossed a pair of fishnet tights at her.
“Are you trying to turn me into a goth?”
“Goths are hot. Trust me. Gale won’t be able to take his eyes off you.”
Tav rolled her eyes, but sat down on the bed to start pulling her tights on. She had to admit that the overall effect was quite striking. She even let Shadowheart do her make-up, on the proviso that she wouldn’t lean too hard into her emo aesthetic. Shadowheart had cackled in response.
*
Gale first became aware that Tav had come back downstairs Karlach gave a long, drawn-out wolf-whistle. He turned to look at Tav, and almost dropped his drink.
She looked positively delectable in her figure-hugging, low-cut dress. She was blushing at Karlach’s attention, covering her mouth with one hand. For a moment, his mind conjured up an image of sliding his hand up her skirt, feeling those fishnet tights before he snapped himself out of it.
“Are you alright, Gale?” Astarion’s voice came from beside him. He looked very amused as Gale tried to pretend he hadn’t just been staring at Tav.
“I’m perfectly fine. Good, even. It’s a good day.”
“It could get better.” Astarion nudged him in Tav’s direction. Gale turned to scold him, but he had already walked away.
Gale drained his drink for courage, and then walked over to Tav, who was pouring herself a rum and coke.
“Hey,” he said, and then, with the strength of the alcohol swirling around in his veins, “I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that you look utterly, devastatingly gorgeous tonight.” He watched the colour rise in her cheeks with a sense of satisfaction. She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear; a nervous habit of hers that he’d noticed.
“You really think so?”
“Tav, you’re beautiful. If you’re surprised by me saying it now then I’ve been really doing you a disservice by not saying it often enough. So I’ll start now: you’re beautiful.”
“So are you.” She wasn’t quite meeting his eye, embarrassment evident on her face. Part of him wanted to take her face into his hand and make her look at him.
“You really think so?” he parroted back to her.
Admittedly, he hadn’t put nearly as much effort into his appearance tonight as she had, but the compliment still warmed him. He was only human, after all. He wanted to hear her say it again.
“Of course I do,” she said. “You know I do.”
Gale wanted to ask what she meant by that, but unfortunately, that was the moment that Lia, Cal and Rolan chose to arrive, and Gale watched Tav get whisked away into conversation with some of their friends. It was an hour before he caught up with her again.
She seemed pretty tipsy now. Her and Jen were spinning each other around on the makeshift dancefloor, where the coffee table usually stood. Their hands slipped, and Tav went careening off right into Gale. He’d seen her coming so opened his arms to catch her.
“Woah,” said Tav, grabbing onto his shoulders for stability. When she realised who she’d bumped into, her face broke into a smile. “Gale!”
Alcohol had loosened them both up. Gone was her shyness from earlier, replaced by a healthy flush on her cheeks.
“Hey Tav,” he said, and then he twirled her. She giggled, spinning back towards him until they were face to face again.
“How are you finding the party?” she asked.
“I’m just glad to be here with some of my favourite people.”
She wrapped her arms loosely around his neck. His hands found her waist and they swayed together. She looked up into his eyes contemplatively, her fingers gently playing with his hair.
“You’re my favourite person,” she said decisively. “Bar none.”
“Don’t tell Astarion. You’ll really hurt his feelings.” A second after the words were out of his mouth, he regretted them. She had been being sincere, and he had batted her compliment back at her with a joke.
The ball was in her court now. She just let out a soft chuckle. “Oh, he knows you’re my favourite.”
“He does, does he?”
“He has a sense for these things. He’s like a bloodhound like that.”
They had stopped swaying now. Tav was steady, and Gale realised his hands were gripping into the fabric of her dress. “Tav, do you want to go and get some fresh air with me?”
“Of course.”
Thankfully, there was no one in the garden. Gale needed to speak with Tav without everyone watching. He guided her to the side so that they wouldn’t be visible through the glass back door. As soon as they were out of sight, he took her hands.
“Tav,” he said, steeling himself.
“Gale,” she replied dreamily. “Lovely Gale.” She was looking up at him with such a pretty smile on her face. His face felt hot and his pulse was racing.
“There are things that I should say to you before I sober up too much and chicken out.”
She cocked her head to the side, but there was a flash of nervousness in her expression. “What is it?”
“Come and sit with me?”
There was an old picnic blanket draped over the back of one of the patio chairs. He shook it out and then lay it on the grass. Once he was sat down, he beckoned Tav over. She lowered herself onto the blanket, looking at him with a bemused expression. Gale lay back, gesturing for her to lie down beside him. She followed his lead.
“I wanted to look at the stars,” he said. It was a remarkably clear night. “This feels like the first night of the rest of my life. I wanted it to be under a canopy of beauty and wonder… With company to match.” He turned to look at Tav, who was staring up at the sky.
“It’s breath-taking,” she said. She turned her head towards him and their eyes met. Her knuckles brushed against the back of his hand, so he laid it palm up, satisfied when she took his bait and linked their hands together.
“It makes me think of the world beyond all of this. We’re graduating soon. I don’t know what that means for any of us. But I hope that we’ll have the opportunity to stay in each other’s lives.”
Tav rolled over to face him, so he rolled onto his side to meet her. They lay facing each other, fingers intertwined.
“Gale, what are you saying?” she asked in a hushed tone.
“Maybe I’ve got this all wrong. But if I don’t say it I know I’ll regret it.” He touched her cheek and her eyes widened. In the starlight, her eyes were bright and more beautiful than anything he’d ever seen. “I’m in love with you, Tav. I want to spend my life with you. If that’s not-”
He didn’t get to finish his sentence, because Tav was already kissing him. She propelled her body into his with such force that he was knocked onto his back, and she loomed over him, swallowing his every breath like he was the last source of oxygen on earth. Her hair fell in a curtain around both of their faces, making a tiny little alcove in the darkness just for them.
He gripped the fabric of her dress and she let out a little gasp, breaking apart from him. She scooped her hair to the side, grinning down at him with kiss-swollen lips.
“In case it wasn’t clear, I’m in love with you too,” she said. “I have been since first year.”
“Well, thank goodness for that.” She let out a little laugh. “I suppose I have some catching up to do. It seems that I’m the last one to realise.”
“It’s not like you to be so slow,” she said fondly, stroking his hair. He tugged her down for another kiss.
Somehow, his hand found its way under her dress, skimming up the outside of her thigh. He was reminded very suddenly that she was wearing fishnet tights, and his cock twitched at the thought of tearing them off her.
She shuffled closer so that she was half lying on him, her knee between his legs. With the weight of her body on his, the smell of her skin in his nostrils and the quiet but persistent moans of pleasure that kept falling from her lips, he was very quickly developing a problem.
“Are you hard?” she asked, skimming her hand up his torso.
“Sorry.” He broke away from her, and she leant back.
“Why are you sorry?”
“Because it’s taking all of my self-control not to rut against you like an animal right now. Hardly romantic.”
“And what if I want you to rut against me like an animal?”
Gale exhaled sharply. “You can’t just say things like that.” His erection was straining against the zip of his trousers and he was sure she could feel it.
“Why not?”
“Because you’re going to make me act in a most… ungentlemanly fashion.”
Tav sat up, and Gale mourned the loss of her warmth. “How about this?” she said slowly. “We both take a few minutes to get ourselves together, so we don’t embarrass ourselves in front of all our friends. And then you meet me upstairs in my room in ten minutes and take me in a most ungentlemanly fashion.”
“You’re incorrigible,” he said, and was rewarded with another kiss.
“You love me,” she said, and he couldn’t deny that. “See you in ten minutes.”
He watched her stand up and straighten her clothes and hair. Resolute, she went back inside.
Gale took his time folding up the picnic blanket and willing his erection to go down. It was a mean feat, because whenever he thought about Tav waiting for him upstairs, he felt his dick hardening again.
In the end, he settled for untucking his shirt so as to hide the evidence of his arousal. Unfortunately, Astarion was waiting for him just inside, leaning against the wall. He opened his mouth, but Gale cut him off.
“Don’t say a word.”
Astarion mimed zipping his lips.
No one else tried to stop Gale as he headed upstairs, although he did get a few sideways glances. At this point, he was too far gone to care.
He stopped off in the bathroom to give himself a once-over, brushing his teeth and re-applying cologne. When he was ready, he knocked on Tav’s bedroom door.
“Come in!” she called. He let himself in.
Tav was sitting on the bed, surprisingly primly, considering the circumstances. He was about to ask her if she was alright when she threw something at him.
The offending object hit his chest, but he caught it before it felt. It was red and lacy, and he realised with jolt that it was Tav’s panties.
“I took them off, since I figured I wouldn’t be needing them anymore,” she said, faux-innocent.
“Naughty girl,” he said. “Come here.”
He had expected her to stand, but instead she knelt, crawling until she was on her knees in front of him. Gale was on the verge of losing all his composure. She looked so pretty on her knees, looking up at him through her lashes, and with the knowledge that she wasn’t wearing panties, he was dizzyingly hard again.
Her hands went to his belt buckle, but he stopped her, one hand on her cheek. “We don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to.”
“Gale, I think it’s pretty clear that I want to. Do you want to?”
“Of course I do. You’re not too drunk, are you?”
“I’m barely tipsy. I’ve had, like, three drinks. Can I suck your cock now, or are you going to breathalyse me first?”
“You like to run your mouth, don’t you, angel?” he murmured. He cupped her face, his thumb tugging at her lower lip. “Just begging me to stuff my cock down your throat. Is that what you want?”
She nodded. He unhooked his belt, unzipped his trousers and pulled his cock out. Her eyes were wide and appreciative. He guided his cock towards her lips, so she opened her mouth.
The first touch of her tongue against him sent a shiver down his spine. It had been a long time since he’d had his dick sucked – Mystra was never interested – and Tav had pretty, plush lips for him to slide his cock between.
She guided his hand to her hair and began moving, trying to take as much of him as she could.
“Holy fuck, Tav. Can I-?”
She nodded. She put her hands on his hips, encouraging him to move. He grabbed her hair in a loose ponytail and began to fuck her face. Her fingernails dug into his hips hard enough to hurt, sending a jolt through him that made him realise that he was entirely too close to cumming, and he really didn’t want to cum until he’d fucked her for real.
He pulled back, a trail of spit connected her lips to his cock. She took a gasping, shuddering breath.
“Are you alright?” he asked, stroking her hair back behind her ears. “Was I too rough?”
“No, I liked it,” she said, but her voice was a little raspy. He helped her to her feet.
“If I ever do anything that you’re not comfortable with, or if you want to stop for any reason, you tell me, alright?”
“Gale, I want you to fuck me until I cry. I’m not asking you to stop.”
“You’re not inspiring a lot of confidence that you’re taking your safety and comfort seriously right now,” he said. She pouted at him. “If you want me to stop, say ‘red’, alright?”
“Fine.” She regarded him, cocking her head to one side. “Are you sure you want to do this? I know this is a big step.”
“Tav.” He crowded into her space, forcing her to look up into his eyes. “I’ve never wanted anything more.”
“Then take me, Gale.”
Something between them broke. He scooped her up and tossed her onto the bed like a ragdoll. She let out a squeak but before she had time to recover, he was on top of her, mouthing at her neck. She was practically mewling, her arms around his shoulders holding him against her.
His hands, spanning the width of her back, fumbled at the zip at the back of her dress. Once it was down, he tugged at the front, revealing her bra.
“Take this off,” he growled. She arched her back so that she could unhook it, and once it was loose, he tugged it off her, freeing her breasts. He cupped them immediately, thumbing over her nipples. She keened, toes curling.
His crotch and most of her lower body were being swallowed by the layers of her dress. As he sucked at her nipple, his free hand slid up her skirt and felt the soaking fabric of her fishnets.
“Fuck, angel,” he muttered. “You’re so wet for me.”
“Gale, I need you,” she whined, and how could he resist her?
He crawled down her body until he was able to bunch up her skirt. It was here that he got the first glimpse of her pussy, pressed up against the fishnet tights. This close, he could smell her. He was practically salivating.
“Are these expensive?” he asked, grabbing a handful of the tights.
“What? No.”
“Okay. I’ll buy you new ones,” he said, and then tangled his fingers into them and pulled until they tore.
Her pussy was uncovered now, bare and neglected. With both hands, he parted her pussy lips and listened to her gasp.
She tasted like salt and honey and sex. She was whimpering his name as he laved his tongue over her clit, lapping up her moans and her juices. It wasn’t enough. He needed her to scream his name.
He pressed one finger into her, and then two. She was tight around him, so he was careful to work her open, for fear of hurting her. She was barely coherent, thighs wrapped around his head, toes curling against his back.
He held her down as her thighs began to tremble, and he knew she was close.
“Gale,” she moaned, clenching around his fingers. He fucked her through it, sucking on her clit until she pushed him away. “If you don’t fuck me, I think I might explode.”
“Condoms?”
He relinquished his grip on her so that she could get up and root through her chest of drawers. At a glance, there were a few other items in the bottom drawer – lube, handcuffs, a couple of different vibrators – that piqued his interest, but that was for another time. He pulled his shirt off over his head and divested of the rest of his clothes.
She handed him the box of condoms and, while he put one on, pulled off her ruined fishnets. She let her dress fall down around her ankles and stepped out of it.
Now that she was standing in front of him, naked as the day she was born, a new kind of longing fluttered in Gale’s chest. He wanted to do this forever. He wanted to learn every little quirk of her body. He wanted to know how to make it sing, and he was willing to spend however long it took to find out.
He reached for her, but she held up her hands. “Nuh-uh. I was promised rutting like animals.”
Gale’s eyes felt like they would pop out of his skull when she crawled onto the bed on all fours, facing away from him. She looked at him over her shoulder.
“Are you going to fuck me, or what?”
He scrambled onto the bed behind her, hearing her chuckle lightly. He lined up his cock with her entrance. He was thick so he was sure it would be a tight fit. Still, he slipped just the head of his cock inside her and she keened.
“Fuck, Gale, you’re so big.”
Gale’s already sizeable ego was swelling with her praise. He moved slowly, stroking her back and playing with her clit as he slid inside her. It was hard to force himself to go slow, but he’d never forgive himself if he hurt her.
When he was fully seated inside her, she flopped forward, her face pressed into the mattress, and let out a long groan of pleasure.
Once he was sure that she’d adjusted to his size, he began to thrust. The little gasps and moans that tumbled from her lips were the hottest sounds he’d ever heard. He grabbed both of her arms and held them behind her back, and her moans took on a new timbre. She tightened around him suddenly, a surprising orgasm wrenched from her. She wriggled in pleasure, but speared on his cock as she was, she didn’t get far.
For his part, Gale found that he missed her face. He released her arms and flipped her over onto her back.
“Gale-” she started, but her words were lost in the moan as he plunged into her again.
He hooked his forearms under her thighs and folded her body in half, her knees almost reaching her ears. She let out a string of expletives, his name mixed in as if it were a swear word.
He leaned in so that his lips were beside her ear.
“You love this, don’t you?” he murmured. “Being my little slut? Being stretched out on my big cock?”
She nodded profusely. “I’m your slut,” she said. “I want you to use me as your fucktoy.”
Gale’s thrusts stuttered, his balls tightening. She grabbed his face and dragged him in for a panting, bedraggled kiss as he came.
“Fuck…”
“Fuck,” she agreed.
*
Later, Tav’s cheek was pressed against Gale’s bare chest, and her fingertips were tracing patterns into his skin. They were both on the verge of sleep when a knock on the door roused them both.
“Tav? Are you in there?” It was Shadowheart.
Tav sat up, pulling her duvet up to cover her chest. “Yeah, I’m in here.”
“I just wanted to check that you’re okay, you disappeared pretty early?”
“I’m fine, don’t worry about me.”
“Is Gale with you? I can’t find him.”
Tav hesitated. She looked down at Gale with a question in her eyes. He gave her a small nod. “Yeah, he’s here.”
Shadowheart let out a squeal of excitement, and then a voice that sounded suspiciously like Astarion said, “I knew it!”
“CONGRATULATIONS!” shouted Karlach.
“God, is everyone out there?” Tav whispered to Gale.
As if on cue, she heard Rolan say, “Alright, you’ve had your fun, let’s give them their privacy,” and Lia telling him to shut up.
Tav let out a sigh and dropped her forehead against Gale’s chest. “They’re the worst,” she said.
“The worst,” he agreed.

"BLEAK HOUSE" (1985) Review

"BLEAK HOUSE" (1985) Review
In less than I year, I have developed this fascination with the works of Charles Dickens. How did this come about? I do not know. I have seen previous Dickens movie and television adaptations in the past. But ever since last year, I have been viewing these adaptations with a vengeance. And one of them turned out to be "BLEAK HOUSE", the 1985 adaptation of Dickens' 1852-53 novel.
Adapted by Arthur Hopcraft, this eight-episode miniseries conveyed the affects of Jarndyce v Jardyce, a long-running legal probate case involving the existence of more than one will. The heirs and their descendants have been waiting decades for the court to determine the legal will, for the sake of a large inheritance. Among those affected by the Jarndyce v Jardyce case are:
*John Jarndyce - a wealthy English landowner, who happens to be the proprietor of the estate, Bleak House. Jarndyce had inherited it from his uncle Tom Jarndyce, who had went mad waiting for a verdict on the case before committing suicide. *Richard Carstones - Tom Jarndyce's grandson and John Jarndyce's cousin, who also became one of the latter's legal wards, and a potential beneficiary of the Jarndyce v Jardyce case. *Ada Clare - Tom Jarndyce's granddaughter and Mr. Jarndyce's cousin, who also became one of his legal wards, and a potential beneficiary of the Jarndyce v Jardyce case. She and Richard, also cousins, became romantically involved. *Esther Summerson - one of the novel's main characters and orphan, who became Mr. Jarndyce's ward following the death of her previous guardian, Miss Barbury, who had also been her biological aunt. She joined the Bleak House household as Ada's companion and Mr. Jarndyce's housekeeper after he became the guardian of Richard and Ada. *Honoria, Lady Dedlock - the wife of baronet Sir Leicester Dedlock and a beneficiary of the Jarndyce v Jardyce case. She is also the younger sister of Miss Barbury and Esther's illegitimate mother. *Captain John Hawdon aka Nemo - a former British Army officer, who became an impoverished law writer and drug addict. He is also Lady Dedlock's former lover and Esther's illegitimate father. His penmanship on one of the Jarndyce v Jardyce affidavit attracts Lady Dedlock's attention. *Mr. Bill Tulkinghorn - Sir Leicester's ruthless lawyer, who noticed Lady Dedlock's reaction to the affidavit. This leads him to investigate her past and possible connection to Hawdon aka "Nemo". *Miss Flite - An elderly woman living in London, whose family had been destroyed by a long-running Chancery case similar to Jarndyce v Jarndyce. This has led her to develop an obsessive fascination with Chancery cases, especially the main one featured in this story. She quickly befriended Esther, Richard, Ada and Mr. Jarndyce.
As one can see, these characters represented plot arcs that connect to the Jarndyce v Jarndyce case. As one of the beneficiaries of the Jarndyce case, Richard becomes obsessed with the verdict. He seemed more interested in depending upon the Jarndyce verdict to provide him with an income rather than pursue a profession. This obsession eventually led to a clash between and Mr. Jarndyce, who has tried to warn him not to get involved with the case. Another clash formed between Lady Dedlock and Mr. Tulkinghorn, due to his determination to find proof of her past with Nemo and the conception of their child. A clash that proved to create even more damaging for a good number of people, than the one between Mr. Jarndyce and Richard. In the midst of all this stood Esther, who served as an emotional blanket for several characters - especially the inhabitants at Bleak House, a potential romantic figure for three men (ironic for a woman who was not supposed to be a great beauty), and the center of the Lady Dedlock-Nemo scandal.
For years, 1985's "BLEAK HOUSE" had been viewed as the superior adaptation of Dickens' novel. The first novel aired back in 1959. But a third television adaptation that aired in 2005 had managed to overshadow this second adaptation's reputation. But this is not about comparing the three adaptations. I am focusing only the 1985 miniseries. If I might be blunt, I believe screenwriter Arthur Hopcraft and director Ross Devenish created one of the better Charles Dickens I have personally seen. Granted, one might use the source material - the 1952-53 novel - as the reason behind the miniseries' top quality. But I have seen my share of poor adaptations of excellent source material . . . and excellent adaptations of poor or mediocre novels and plays. And I would find this excuse too simply to swallow. Hopcraft and Devenish could have easily created a poor or mediocre adaptation of the novel. Fortunately, I believe they had managed to avoid the latter.
With eight episodes, Hopcraft and Devenish did an excellent job in conveying Dickens' exploration into the chaos of the legal landscape in 19th century Britain, especially cases involving the Chancery courts. One might consider the longevity of Jarndyce v Jarndyce rather exaggerated. However, I speak from personal experience that an extended length of time in such a case is more than possible. But what I thought the effect of Jarndyce v Jarndyce and similar cases in Dickens' story seemed very interesting. In Richard Carstone's case, I suspect his own hubris and upbringing had allowed the case to have such a toxic effect upon him. He had been raised as a gentleman. Which meant he was not expected to work for a living. But since he did not possess a fortune or an estate - like Mr. Jarndyce - Richard never lost hope that the court would rule the Jarndyce v Jarndyce case in his favor, allowing him to inherit a great deal of money. Although it took another case to send Miss Flyte mentally around the bend, I found it interesting that her obsession with Chancery cases led her to attach her interest to the Jarndyce case beneficiaries.
The Jarndyce case also produce a group of leeches in the forms of attorneys like Mr. Tulkinghorn and his obsession with assuming control over the Dedlocks and Mr. Vholes, who had sucked a great deal of money from Richard in exchange for his legal services. The series also featured the vicious moneylender Mr. Smallweed, who helped Mr. Tulkinghorn in the latter's campaign against Lady Dedlock; and Mr. Jarndyce's "friend", Harold Skimpole, who had not only encouraged Richard to pursue a greater interest in the Jarndyce case, but also had accepted a "commission" from Vholes to recruit the young man as a client. Would I regard William Guppy as a leech? Sometimes. I had noticed that one particular story arc was missing - namely the story arc regarding the philanthropist Mrs. Jellyby, her daughter and Esther's friend, Caddy and the Turveydrop family. This did not bother me, for I have never been a fan of that particular arc.
However, I also noticed that "BLEAK HOUSE" featured a few moments in which important plot points had been revealed through dialogue or shown after the fact. Audiences never saw Skimpole convince Richard to hire Mr. Vholes. Instead, Mr. Jarndyce had revealed this incident after it happened. The whole scenario regarding Dr. Allan Woodcock being a survivor of a shipwreck was handled as a past event revealed by the good doctor himself. Hopcraft's script never stretched it out in the same manner as Dickens' novel or the 2005 miniseries. Audiences never saw George Rouncewell's release from jail, for which he had been incarcerated for murder. Instead, Episode Seven began with George in jail and later, near the end, found him serving as Sir Leicester's valet without any information on how that came about.
"BLEAK HOUSE" featured a few other writing and direction decisions by Hopcraft and Devenish that I found . . . well, questionable. Why did the pair solely focused on Lady Dedlock in the series' penultimate episode and Richard and the Jarndyce v Jarndyce case in the final one? Would it have been so difficult for them to switch back and forth between the two arcs in those final episodes? I found Inspector Bucket's resolution to the story's murder mystery rather rushed. I would have liked to see Bucket eliminate suspects before solving the case. In Bucket's final scene with the killer, Hopcraft left out that moment from the novel when the latter had the last scathing word on British society, leaving the police detective speechless. This erasure dimmed the impact of Dickens' message and made the killer even more of a caricature. I had some issues with how Devenish directed certain performances. How can I put this? I found them a bit theatrical.
I have one last issue - namely Kenneth MacMillan's cinematography. I realize that in "BLEAK HOUSE", fog represented institutional oppression and human confusion and misery in society. Unfortunately, I feel that MacMillan may have been heavy-handed in utilizing this symbol in the series. It is bad enough that photography featured a fuzzy element that seemed popular in many period productions in the 1970s. But thanks to MacMillan's use of fog in the story, there were many moment in which I could barely see a damn thing. And I found that irritating.
Aside from a few quibbles, I had no real issues with the performances featured in "BLEAK HOUSE". One of those quibbles proved to be the performances for some of the secondary cast members. How can I say this? The exaggerated and wooden performances for some of the cast members brought back memories of some of the minor actors' bad performances in 1982 miniseries, "THE BLUE AND THE GRAY". I must admit that I did not care for Pamela Merrick's portrayal of Lady Dedlock's French maid, Madame Hortense. Her performance bordered and then surpassed the lines of caricature - as some British actors/actresses tend to do. Charlie Drake's portrayal of the moneylender Smallweed tend to waver between a pretty solid performance and pure caricature. Although there were moments when I found her portrayal of the eccentric Miss Flyte a bit hammy, I must admit that Sylvia Coleridge gave a well-done performance. Chris Pitt's performance as Jo, the crossing sweeper boy struck me as very poignant. Yet, at the same time, he seemed so passive that at times, I found it difficult to believe he had survived on the streets on his own, for so long. Jonathan Moore, whom I had remembered from the 1988 television movie, "JACK THE RIPPER"; did an excellent job of conveying the ambitious and self-interested nature of law clerk William Guppy. However, his portrayal of Guppy seemed to lack the character's comedic nature. Denholm Elliot gave a very interesting performance as Esther, Richard and Ada's guardian, John Jarndyce. On one level, I found his portrayal of the kind-hearted Mr. Jarndyce as first-rate. Excellent. But there were moments, including the character's famous quote following Jo's death, when Elliott's Mr. Jarndyce seemed to resemble one of those "angry young men" characters from a John Osbourne play. I found those moments very odd.
However, there were performances that did not leave me scratching my head. Colin Jeavons and Anne Reid gave very competent performances as the grasping solicitor Mr. Vholes and George Rouncewell's close friend Mrs. Bagnet, respectively. Ironically, Jeavons had portrayed Richard Carstone in the 1959 adaptation of "Bleak House" and Reid had portrayed Mrs. Rouncewell in the 2005 television adaptation. Both Suzanne Burden and Lucy Hornak gave solid performances as Esther Summerson and Ada Clare. And yet, both actresses managed to rise to the occasion with some brilliant moments. Burden's moment came, following Esther's realization that she had survived the smallpox. As for Hornak, she gave an excellent performance during Ada's soliloquy about her love's growing obsession with the Jarndyce case. Brian Deacon gave a passionate performance as Dr. Allan Woodcourt, the penniless doctor in love with Esther. Ian Hogg gave a very solid, yet commanding performance as Inspector Bucket. I really enjoyed Sam Kelly's warm portrayal of the law-stationer, Mr. Snagsby. Bernard Hepton gave one of the most colorful performances of his career as the alcoholic rag and bone shopkeeper, Krook. Dave King gave a very solid performance as the loyal, yet intimidating and conservative former Army sergeant George Rouncewell. I found George Sewell's performance as Sergeant Rouncewell's older brother, the wealthy Mr. Rouncewell not only entertaining, but very memorable. I thought Robin Bailey did an excellent job portrayed the haughty and proud Sir Leicester Dedlock.
But there were four performances that really impressed me. One came from Philip Franks, who did an excellent job of conveying Richard Carstone's emotional journey from John Jarndyce's warm and friendly young man, to the more embittered one, obsessed with the Jarndyce case. T.P. McKenna gave a delicious performance as Mr. Jarndyce's self-involved friend, Harold Skimpole, who proved to be quite the emotional (and financial) vampire. I thought Peter Vaughan was superb as the Dedlocks' sinister lawyer, Mr. Tulkinghorn. I was amazed by how Vaughn managed to combine the character's dedication to protecting his client Sir Leicester and his penchant for assuming control over others. If I had voted for the best performance featured in "BLEAK HOUSE", I would choose Diana Rigg's portrayal of the tragic Honoria, Lady Dedlock. I believe the actress gave a brilliant performance as the mysterious, yet complicated baronet's wife, whose cool demeanor hid a great deal of emotions and a personal secret. I am shocked and amazed that neither she, Vaughn, McKenna or Franks had ever received any accolades for their performances.
In fact, I am surprised that "BLEAK HOUSE" had only received BAFTA nominations (and won three) . . . and they were in the technical/arts category, aside for the Best Drama Series/Serial. No Primetime Emmy nominations, whatsoever. Was this eight-part miniseries the best adaptation of Charles Dickens' 1852-53 novel? I cannot answer that question. Granted, it had its flaws. But what television or movie production did not? But I cannot deny that "BLEAK HOUSE" was a first-rate miniseries that deserved more accolades than it had received, thanks to Arthur Hopcraft's screenplay, Ross Devenish's direction and an excellent cast led by Suzanne Burden, Denholm Elliott and Diana Rigg.

Bria and Brad quietly purchased a home together for them and Tiny. She had to go through a probate lawyer to sell her mother’s house because it was willed to her. Since Brad had some knowledge of contracts, he researched what she had to do to put the house on the market. She and Brad followed his advice. It was a year since they started dating. The band met him after he was invited over to hang out at Mike’s apartment.
They saw what Bria loved about him. He didn’t care about his fame. That wasn’t who he was. He was overwhelmed by Hollywood and he hated the media coverage of his life. But, without the paparazzi and the tabloid’s attention, he wouldn’t have a career. It was a double-edged sword. He wasn’t a guy who liked going out. Rather, he liked being at home.
He was her first serious relationship. She dated Mike for six months, but that was puppy love. They pushed each other to be their best. The band thought it was adorable how much in love he was. Bria was one of a kind and the type of woman you only met once in your life. She didn’t take herself too seriously and she wasn’t afraid of keeping them in line. Outside, she was beautiful. The kind that made people do a double-take.
Inside, she was kind-hearted towards her kitten and the people around her. Tiny was like her child. She loved and cared for her with her whole heart. In return, Tiny gave her cuddles and purrs. Brad came home to find her curled up on her chest fast asleep. She laid down to look at her phone when she came over and curled up to her.
She was afraid of moving and waking her up. He got his camera and took a picture because it was so adorable. Their house was located in Los Feliz. It had six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. What they loved about it was the privacy. It was also inexpensive at only one million, seven hundred thousand dollars. That was a price they could both afford. Before moving in together, they relegated duties. She was learning how to cook, clean, and do other housewife chores.
She didn’t mind being a housewife because he was often working on different projects. Linda was becoming ever more proud of her. She did everything she could to teach her everything about taking care of a household. Watching her grow up was an honor. She always felt like a daughter to her. Her father would also be incredibly proud of her for the woman she was becoming.
She was introduced to Brad and she thought he was a classy guy. Did she approve of the relationship? She did. As a mother figure, all she wanted for her was to know she was happy. He thanked her. They were introduced to his parents, who were hesitant because of her very young age. As they talked to her, they found her to be well-educated, humble, and a woman who loved their son for who he was. They also appreciated she had her own money.
It meant she wouldn’t be living off of him. If they ever separated, she wouldn’t be taking him to court over money. Linda was the only parent she had left and she talked about how she had watched her grow up. How did she meet her?
She was hired as her father’s assistant in 1990. Bria was nine years old at the time. When her father died, she hired her as her assistant. Over the years, her role had become less and less as she was learning how to do more things for herself. She didn’t mind because she wanted her to become less dependent on her. They learned the circumstances of her parents’ deaths. Her father raised a great young woman. What was her last name? Was it European?
“It’s French. My dad’s side of the family is from Alsace. I’m a first-generation French immigrant.”
“What about your mother?”
“I don’t know. Though my guess is she was also European. My dad never liked talking about her because it was too difficult due to his grief.”
Linda didn’t know either. She and Brad could tell how hard she was trying. His parents were not easy to impress. She dressed conservatively while still being fashionable. Her button-up shirt didn’t show anything when she bent over and her skirt went down to her ankles. She braided her long brown hair to keep it out of her face and she wore minimal makeup. He thought she looked beautiful as always. William and Jane learned she was fluent in French, Japanese, and Spanish.
She could speak Chinese, though only at an elementary level. Her two main languages were English and French. Did she speak French at home with her father? Yes. It was his first language so he was more comfortable speaking it. Why did she learn Japanese? It was a language used in business, as was Chinese and Spanish.
When they got home, Tiny had just finished one of many naps. She yawned and stretched before going to greet the humans. Hi, humans! Brad picked her up when she meowed at him. There’s my girl! Linda said hello to her. Did she have a nice nap? Yes, she did! She scratched her head. That feels good. Thank you, human! She wanted to go play, so he put her back on the floor. They followed her over to her toys and then sat down.
She loved being a cat because she could do whatever she wanted. The humans were here, there, and everywhere! She wondered where they went. Humans were strange creatures. They walked on their paws and didn’t use the litter box like she did. She didn’t understand them. Maybe she wasn’t supposed to or maybe it was something she would find out when she got older. For now, she played with her toys and pretended that she was hunting her prey.
Bria, Brad, and Linda thought the meeting went well. He gave his parents credit for trying to have an open mind about her. They were hard to impress sometimes and had conservative values. He made it clear that this was not just another relationship but a very serious one. Linda could also tell they were trying to keep an open mind.
“Japanese”, Brad asked her.
“It will come in handy someday. I just know it.”
He laughed. Did her ex-boyfriend know Japanese? He knew some of the language. His brother knew more than he did because he was learning it in college. His father was fluent, though so they could have conversations. Mike and his brother were second-generation immigrants. What about his mother? She was European. She didn’t know if she knew any languages.
He would have to ask him. Meow! I’m hungry! Meow! The three of them went into the kitchen where Tiny was demanding her dinner. Brad and Linda stood back while she dispersed the food onto the plate. After setting it down, she sniffed it before eating. Yum! Thank you, human! This was just what she wanted! Bria joked that her ADHD ass didn’t want to cook dinner, but she was going to anyway. They laughed before she went to the refrigerator to see what they had after putting on some music.

By 1932 things had just gotten worse across Wrightburg, crops were wiped out across the plains and more people were heading to the West in search of work. The Mill in Moonlight Mill had closed and most of the population had left, which was the unfortunate tale of many similar communities. The Vardas became a tighter unit, checking in on each other and sharing what they had. Elvira stopped by after her shift at the Hospital to talk to Cerise.
Tumblr media
After hanging up their coats Cerise and Elvira made their way to the kitchen for some tea.
Tumblr media
They chatted about everything going on. Elvira talked about the long hours she was putting in, they had another Polio epidemic on their hands. She made the decision to sell her house and move in with Luis and Maren. Maren was working at the hospital and Luis was barely working, his shifts have been cut like everyone else's. It was really her and Maren keeping things going.
Tumblr media
They made their way to the table. Cerise talked about the soup kitchen and the sewing circle, they were trying to help in the community but for all their work it barely made a dent. Her and Alex had to make cuts in their spending. They had even discussed letting Hana go but where would she find new employment? Ending her employment in the middle of this seemed cruel. Instead they trimmed the costs elsewhere.
Tumblr media
Cerise was glad they had kept the garden up, but come spring she was going to be replacing her flowers with more vegetables. They had a good amount canned but they are going to need more with the way things are going.
Tumblr media
After the small talk and pleasantries, Elvira got to the point. She was ill, her doctors had done what they can but her time was limited. She never married or had children of her own. So, given the current economy, she felt it would be best to invest in the next generation. Which was why she was selling her place, she would invest the sale amount into Luis' home, in return Maren and Luis have agreed to care for her and see to her final expenses. She also still had her savings, which she was leaving in increments to her nieces and nephews, including Bernard and Edna, in hopes to help with their education.
Tumblr media
Cerise's first impulse was that she should be talking to Alex, "he's a lawyer and he started his career around Estate law". Elvira, raised her eyebrow, "Alex is a wonderful little brother, he would be there to the ends of the earth for me or any of us, but that's not what I need at the moment. I need someone not related, with the head to see to my wishes and the distance to see that it's done. You have been married to Alex for almost 15 years, you know how probate works. I want you to be my executor."
Tumblr media
She stood to speak, "As you know, Lucas has married a lovely young lady. Luis and Maren were livid. I don't think they didn't like the girl, they didn't like losing control of Lucas. Lucas finally had enough, he moved his little family to San Sequoia. I want to make sure Lucas receives his inheritance. Alex is too kind, he'll cave to Luis and Maren, who already think he shouldn't see a dime. I think you'll see that he gets his share."
Tumblr media
Cerise knew what kind of position she was being put in. She agreed to make sure Elvira's wishes were fulfilled.
Tumblr media
Before she set off, Elvira went upstairs to see her niece and nephew. Edna was already asleep but Bernard was still awake.
Tumblr media
She asked how he liked his new room? Bernard loved it! It was so nice to have his own space, Elvira smiled and told him she understood, this was her room when she was young. She shared it with his aunt and uncle. He told her about his scouting, all the things he had learned that were going to help him when he went exploring. She asked how he was doing in school, his enthusiasm escaped and he told her he was doing well.
Tumblr media
She nudged the conversation to college, what direction was he looking at? Would he become a lawyer like his dad? A doctor? or perhaps an engineer? Bernard wasn't sure yet. He really wanted to see the world, and thought about joining the Army like Cousin Lucas.
Tumblr media
Aunt Elvira assured him he still had time to figure it out.

Monster March 2023 Day 9- Centuar
If The Shoe Fits Part 3
Tumblr media
Woo, we get to the fun NSFW part.
Part 3
More Than Friends, But a Family
Soon this became a pattern, every day that the kids didn’t have gymnastics, or martial arts, they had “riding lessons” and dinner with Lucas and the boys. And the closer the two families grew to become as Lucas was indoctrinated into Maddison’s friends and family circle as Maddison and her family were indoctrinated into his as well. And it got to a point that Maddison really enjoyed her short “riding lesson” with Lucas as she was content to simply sit on his back, her belly growing by the day as Lucas noticed that little Adrian would grow excited at the sound of his voice and would settle down once Lucas would actually touch Maddison’s belly and push his head and back into Lucas’ hands and would often kick again once Lucas’ touch would withdraw.
So to counteract this, Lucas simply lifted up his shirt so that Maddison’s bare belly would touch his bare human back and suddenly Adrian seemed to settle in perfectly.
“Thank you so much for this, I really needed this.” Maddison thanked him as she had a blanket that tied around Lucas, and draped over then and tied behind her own back to keep the chill off of her belly and his bare back as they continued to harvest the various fruits off of the trees.
“You’re welcome. I’m just sorry he’s so hard on you.” He offered.
“It’s not all bad. He’s just already super particular about who he lets near me. He was practically leaping for joy the moment he first your voice for the first time and every time since.” Maddison revealed.
“Well then that’s quite the vote of confidence. I’ll do what I can to not let him or you down.” Lucas offered.
“I know you wouldn’t. It’s just been especially stressful lately.” She sighed.
“Why? Problems with the estate or at work?” He asked.
“No the estate is still in probate and I can’t do much of anything at the moment. Work is fine. Granted I’m practically on maternity leave but Bianca has me on salary anyway. So that’s not an issue. It’s this stupid lawsuit.” Maddison revealed lowly.
“What lawsuit?” Lucas asked.
“There is a class action one on behalf of myself and the other widows and widowers of the accident at Adrian’s work. It’s with both with the company they worked for and the company that made the crystal grower itself. And so to keep the company they worked for- out of any bad spot light, the company made a deal with me and the others, deals we couldn’t refuse in exchange for us to drop our lawsuit against them in exchange for us to simply get on their side to sue the company that made the grower itself and I of course, found out I was pregnant by then so I of course agreed. And thankfully I hired a really, really good lawyer. Specifically, Bianca’s husband, Bauvar who is a lawyer who specializes in this sort of thing. Bauvar is fighting so hard for us and really championing our rights to the settlements and made the company sign a deal that I would get a percentage of whatever the final settlement would be because I’m pregnant and had almost lost this one to grief already when all this mess started.” Maddison revealed.
“Are you in danger again?” Lucas asked worriedly as he paused and turned to look at her.
“Physically? No. Since I’ve moved here and you and your family have moved into our lives, no. But now I’m in a danger I never thought I would be in. And that is that my privacy is being threatened and invaded. In order to get leverage, Bauvar basically threatened them with how awful that would look, especially with another woman who lives in the Great Lakes that this happened to her and the people her husband worked with. Bauvar knows her because she has a summer house here in the Arctic Tundra but further up north in Fair Banks. I got to meet her only last week. She’s a paradise orc, Zara Kingsley- in the Great Lakes who had the same thing happen to her. But because her court case went public, and she got to be the public face of the lawsuit, she and her case got the sympathy vote and public pressure and outcry and even got on the news. The company who made the crystal grower didn’t want the same thing to repeat and be demonized like their competitor had been and go belly up like their competitor had. So she’s warned me what could happen if that happens with me. And how my life could change in the aspect of that if I win a windfall, people are gonna come out of the woodwork for me, all of them with their hands out. And how I could then get stalkers. And her and Bianca of course have a lot in common because of Bianca’s ex husband who ended up getting that gold claim. And so now I’m just on high alert and anxious over that and thankfully Zara’s kids were able to sit mine down and give them a heads up about certain things, about how to be weary of strangers, about how to tell if someone is being genuine or not or if they’re really after your potential fame and fortune and I just don’t want that for them.” Maddison divulged.
“Well, now that I know that, I’ll keep an eye out and have the boys keep an eye out too.” Lucas offered.
“Thank you. We, we really need the help. But part of the lawsuit, should it be settled out of court, is a nondisclosure. And as much as I want justice for Adrian, I need to think of the safety and wellbeing of my family and our potential for either peace or lack of it in the future and right now, my gut is telling me to just take the money and shut up about it and that at least if there is an afterlife, that Adrian can see us living well and be happy and content with that.” She murmured sleepily.
“Ok, back into the house and into bed with you.” Lucas said before he stopped picking and started to walk back to the house and took off the special bags inside as Maddison didn’t even argue, she just laid against his back, with her arms wrapped around his lower chest and her head resting between his shoulders with a sleepy hum of agreement as he wiped his feet and then walked her into bed and laid down so she could slide from his back to her bed as she just started stripping off her layers and slipped into a nightgown that was already laying on the bed, without caring that Lucas was in the room but instead, stopped him from getting up when he tried to get to his feet.
“Lucas, please, just stay. I just, please, please stay. Could you hold me, at least until I fall asleep? Please? For little Adrian?” Maddison pleaded.
“Of course.” Lucas readily agreed as he maneuvered himself on the floor so that she could lay closer to the edge of the bed, as his human half could lay down, more or less behind her while his horse half could lay down on the floor next to the bed. It wasn’t the most comfortable position, but for Addie? Lucas would lay on gravel as he happily stripped out his dirty shirt to lay with her in the bed with the blankets drawn up before she used one arm as her pillow and took the other to pull under her short nighty and to palm her belly to keep little Adrian calm so she could get some much needed sleep because so far all the stress just made her want to sleep all the time. And in no time, Maddison was asleep, as was little Adrian and Lucas stayed right there, marveling at her pretty pink and purple hair and her pretty, delicate horns and her little pointed ears. She was just…so beautiful. And he’d never deny that he was falling pretty hard for her and would be ready to do anything she would ever ask of him or need him to do.
“I love you Addie.” Lucas breathed as he pressed a soft kiss to the back of her head, between her horns that just gently framed his face as he did so before he pulled back only to rest his head on her pillow with her as sleep started to pull him down.
Lucas woke up to the gentle alarm he had set to wake him for when the kids would get out of school and head here so he gingerly but reluctantly all the same- pull himself from Maddison so he could get redressed and get downstairs in time to make a quick snack or two for them.
He heard an odd buzzing sound when he barely got to the top of the stairs but one whiff, his nose told him exactly what that sound meant. Maddison was using a vibrator and he, ever so quietly walked back to the bedroom door he had closed and practically pressed an ear to the door to hear Maddison sigh in relief and then let out a small little whimpering keen and suddenly Lucas’ own cock was unsheathed and ready to be buried into anything even remotely associated with Maddison. And when Maddison’s cries of bliss grew a bit higher and more needy his was practically humping air.
But when she whimpered his name, that door was practically blown off it’s hinges as he was suddenly in the doorway as Maddison had to dive under her covers to shut the vibrator off as Lucas suddenly snapped out of his own lustful haze.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I thought, um, I thought you were calling for me. Sorry.” Lucas bashfully tried to back out of the room.
“Well…” Maddison squeaked from under her covers as Lucas suddenly froze and looked back towards her frame under her covers.
“Would you think it’s crazy if I…?” Maddison began to ask before Lucas took a few curious and hopeful steps towards her.
“What do you want? What do you need? Whatever it is, I’ll do it.” Lucas found himself offering.
“I want you to love me. And for it not to be a one time thing.” Maddison finally confessed as her shoulders sank.
“Really, come here, how do you want me?” He asked.
“You got it Addie.” He readily agreed as he came over and laid down next to the bed just as she pulled the blankets down.
“Really?” She asked hopefully.
“Um, I don’t know if I could take all of…you, I mean, I’ve been trying to see if I could even hack it.” She sheepishly said.
“So you want me to go down on you? I can do that.” He readily offered.
“Do we have time?” She asked.
“We will.” He readily assured her as he sent a quick text to his kids to keep hers busy in the orchards when they would get home because he was going to do be helping Maddison and the baby with something private.
The second he did that, he put the phone on her bedside table and pulled her to lay sideways on her bed but facing him as he played over her as carefully as he dared to kiss her and then kiss a trail down her body to her mound and with her legs resting over his shoulders he delved in and Maddison arched her back off the bed as a loud moan and keen left her mouth while her hands fisted in his hair to keep his moth right where it was.
It had been a hot minute since Lucas had done this, but while it was a little like riding a bike, this was Addie, his Addie and not Amber. Addie was downright delicate, small, precious. But oh so sexy. And with a groan he looked up to see little Adrian start to kick like crazy again before Lucas pulled one of his hands from her ass and stroked her belly and took a moment to coo and settle little Adrian down.
"What about you though?" Maddison asked as she took a moment to catch her breath while her body was flushed violet.
"Do you mind if I use this?" He asked as he nodded over to her discarded nighty.
"By all means, can't get rug burn on that cock of yours now can we?" Addie purred before he took it and twisted around to wrap it around his weeping cock that was pinned between him and the carpet.
"That wouldn't be ideal, no." Lucas smiled wolfishly as once he was done, he came back and caressed her belly lovingly.
"Papah is here Baby Boy." He cooed to the belly as he nuzzle it as Adrian began to relax as did Maddison before he delved back in and in no time, she was clamping her thighs around his head as her toes curled and her voice echoed off the walls as his own cock stuffed her nighty with a load that he was sure just made a massive mess on her carpet. His tongue was almost numb and his hand had probably cramped twice, but he got it. He got her to cum and his face, neck and chest and he had never been happier about a job well done.
It took a bit longer than Maddison was used to- to get back to herself. But once she did, she had a look about her that Lucas found exhilarating before she practically pulled him to at least lay on his side so she could see the mess he had made out of her nighty and to his utter delight, she chose to use a wet and hot hand towel from her bathroom to really clean him off before she replaced it with her mouth and Lucas had to fight not to kick out as his hips bucked against the sensation before in a surprise, she managed to get the whole head in her pretty little mouth.
“Holy shit.” Lucas whispered in amazement as he reclined his human form more up on the bed.
“Now let’s see if it will fit in the other one.” She said before she had him more or less lay on his back as Lucas kept his upper body up by his elbows as he watched while his front legs were happy to curl up as were his back legs as she straddled and steadied herself on his belly before she eased back and to their mutual delight and surprise, he fit!
“Ok, I have an idea.” Maddison urged him before she got off and got back on the bed but got on all fours.
“Let’s try this again cowboy.” She purred with a wink over her shoulder before he outright mounted her right there on the bed as he knelt on her bed so he wouldn’t get his dirty hooves on the blankets but would still leave plenty of space for her as she used all the pillows on her bed to support herself as for the first time in over a decade, Maddison got to relive what it was like to be mounted by a centaur stud. Which, now that she had had three children and currently pregnant with a fourth was much easier to do, with a lot less lube as she used his own forelegs to brace herself as he got as deep as her body would allow.
This felt unbelievably good. He was half expecting not to fit but to know he could fit in her and do so enough to fill her proper without hurting her, was the thrill of a lifetime. He barely held off until she cried out in bliss before he felt her pussy flutter over his cock and then it was all over. He left and equally big load into her before he managed to pull out and then lay his horse half down on the floor while his human upper body laid down on the bed next to her as he was quick to gather her into his arms and as they both recovered.
“My girls didn’t want this to happen.” Maddison finally murmured.
“Do they not like me?” Lucas asked worriedly.
“Oh they like you just fine. Alex has the biggest crush ever on Nick. And Adel has one on Avery.” Maddison revealed before Lucas snorted a laugh.
“Why is that funny?” Maddison asked as she looked up at him curiously.
“Because Nick and Avery have crushes on Alex and Adel too. And they told me not to do this either for that purpose, specifically, so that they could date because they can’t date if we’re together.” Lucas informed her with a grin.
“Well, I mean, honestly, you and Amber were the exception I think. Honestly, just give them, like a month or so, and they’ll get over it.” Maddison predicted.
“Yeah, I would imagine so. They’re too young for that crap anyway.” Lucas dismissed.
“Yes, thank you. I agree, but it’s a good thing we’re not too young or too old for it ourselves.” Maddison grinned as she craned her head up to kiss him sweetly.
“Nope, thank goodness.” Lucas grinned after he met her sweet kiss.
It barely took a week for a more centaur friendly bed to arrive and for Lucas to set it up and set it up. And just about every weekend, Lucas’ family had a big “sleep over” at Maddison’s house as slowly then all at once, Lucas and his boys practically moved in. And about a month before Maddison had to give birth to little Adrian, they had a small friends and family wedding and Lucas worked on turning his house into an AirBnB, still specifically for centaurs and other taurs in general.
And when Maddison did finally give birth, Lucas was there, laying on the floor next to her birthing bed in the hospital, holding her hand and coaching her through the labor while the kids kept each other company in the waiting room with Maddison’s parents as well as Lucas’ parents and Maddison’s late inlaws as well and Lucas still cried when he got to hold little Adrian while Maddison was delivering the afterbirth.
“How does he look?” Maddison asked tiredly.
“Perfect, just like you Addie.” He cooed as he passed the baby over to her so she could start nursing him while she got ready to be moved to her recovery room to be reunited with her family who all crowded around you and the baby while your parents and his and your late husband’s parents got pictures and got to take their turns holding him after you had nursed him his colostrum from you.

In order to name a specific person as your executor, you need to have a will - otherwise the court will appoint someone, usually a family member, which is exactly what a lot of you don't want. With legal gay marriage, your spouse is the first priority choice for executor unless you choose someone else, and they'll keep their access to joint property, policies and bank accounts. When there isn't a will OR a marriage, shit gets really gray legally.
If you're a grown adult who pays your own bills, has your own bank accounts, has any retirement plans/has ever contributed to social security, and/or have life insurance, you should have a will. I know, I know, there's always time for that.
Spoiler: there is not, in fact, always time for that and it becomes a mess for your loved ones to deal with if you didn't.
You can say you know you partner's wishes, but you will be tied up a lot longer in probate if there's no will even if there are no challenges (probate=the legal process of disposing of an estate). Probate is MUCH shorter when there is a legally sound will - you can't do that shit like on TV where you write "I leave all my worldly possessions to my love, X. Havisham-Goode" on a piece of notebook paper and have a nurse and a janitor date and sign as witnesses - well, you CAN, but it's not like Murder She Wrote, your survivor will probably not find it very useful. Without a will, executor or not, if there's a challenge whoever can afford the most for lawyers will probably end up winning the battle for whatever property/belongings were at issue - like a shared house or bank accounts.
You can buy willmaking software that will do the job for most of us who don't have lots of property, but resign yourself to probably having to spend between $150-300, or more depending on how complicated your situation is/what kind of mutual property you own. If you have a house, significant retirement income in a 401K/IRA/other investments, and/or ESPECIALLY if you have kids, you should probably talk to a lawyer in person - guardianships in particular are nothing to fuck around with on an amateur level. DuckDuckGo "LGBT estate planning (your city/county/state)" to find someone knowledgeable near you, check the Better Business Bureau/Google for reviews, ask your friends who they used. It's not important you LIKE your lawyer, but you should feel like they know what they're doing and are professionally respected.
Look up your state's specific laws and constitution; it's unlikely that the Trump administration will be able to just retroactively ban gay marriages and say none of them ever existed. HOWEVER, what could happen is exactly what happened when Roe was overturned - states that have their own specifically gender neutral or specifically queer marriage friendly laws will continue to allow gay marriage that will need to be honored because of interstate commerce clauses but forbidden to continue in unfriendly states. What would be a whole disaster is if both Obergefell were overturned and the Respect for Marriage Act (2022) had constitutional challenge brought and was overturned - and even then, there would need to be a new federal law passed to forbid gay marriage. This process would not be able to happen on January 21st, 2025 - but be sure they'll be trying for it sometime over the next four years.
What you all need to do is not wait for there to be publicity about it. Hammer your Congressperson, blue or red, male or female, actual phone calls best, second letters, third faxes, fourth emails with YOU LEAVE GAY MARRIAGE THE FUCK HOW IT IS OR YOU'RE GETTING PRIMARIED (maybe a little nicer than that - but ONLY a little)
And fill out your durable power of attorneys, healthcare directives and write your wills in the meantime. They're good things to do even if the fashies don't come for gay marriage; they're a form of tangible help and support you can give your spouse even when you can't do it in person any more. Believe me when I tell you serious illness or death is going to be horrendous for your loved one WITHOUT having to book a seance to figure out what you really wanted, and it'll be invaluable if the worst does happen legally.
Before January 2025:
If you are a USAmerican in a relationship that might be affected by legislation that dissolves same-sex marriages, who may no longer be recognized as next-of-kin, especially if you have children, get your rights in writing!
Your marriage certificate may not be enough to prove you have rights to make medical decisions for non-biological children or for a same-sex spouse or partner.
Go to a lawyer, get it spelled out as clearly as possible that you have a voice in emergency medical and legal situations.

Important Elements of Estate Planning
Wills and Trusts: A will outlines how your assets will be distributed after your death, while trusts can help manage your assets during your lifetime and beyond.
Power of Attorney: This legal document grants someone you trust the authority to make decisions on your behalf if you become unable to do so.
Healthcare Directives: These are also referred to as living wills. This is a document that outlines your wishes with respect to medical treatment should you be unable to communicate your decisions.
Beneficiary Designations: It is essential that your life insurance policies and retirement accounts have current beneficiary designations.
Guardianship Designations: If you have minors, you will also wish to choose guardians who will care for them should something happen to you.

Common Misconceptions About Estate Planning
"I am too young to need an estate plan." Estate planning is not an old person's game; accidents happen at any age.
"I do not have sufficient assets for an estate plan." Whatever the size of your estate, it matters not, for the planning ensures distribution according to your wish.
A simple will is enough." With a will, there are other aspects that form full estate planning, such as trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
Effects of No Estate Planning
Without an estate plan,
State Control: According to New York's intestacy laws, your assets will be distributed based on that set of laws.
Increased Taxes: Inadequate planning may lead to higher estate taxes, reducing the value of your assets left for your heirs.

Elder Lawyer Queens: Protecting Your Future with Expert Legal Guidance
Tumblr media
Aging comes with many challenges, from healthcare decisions to financial planning and protecting your legacy. Whether you're planning for yourself or assisting a loved one, having an experienced elder lawyer in Queens can make all the difference. The right legal guidance ensures your assets are protected, your healthcare wishes are honored, and your family avoids unnecessary legal battles.
In this article, we’ll explore the role of an elder lawyer, common legal issues seniors face, and why hiring a Queens elder law attorney is essential for securing peace of mind.
What Does an Elder Lawyer Do?
An elder lawyer in Queens specializes in legal matters that affect seniors and their families, including:
✅ Estate Planning: Wills, trusts, and asset protection strategies to ensure your wishes are honored. ✅ Medicaid Planning: Assistance with Medicaid applications and long-term care planning to preserve assets. ✅ Guardianship & Power of Attorney: Legal representation to appoint trusted individuals for medical and financial decisions. ✅ Nursing Home & Assisted Living Planning: Guidance on selecting facilities and protecting financial resources. ✅ Probate & Estate Administration: Helping families navigate the legal process after a loved one passes. ✅ Elder Abuse & Fraud Protection: Legal action to prevent or stop financial exploitation and abuse of seniors.
An elder law attorney provides proactive planning so you and your family can avoid legal complications in the future.
Common Elder Law Issues in Queens
Seniors and their families often face legal concerns that require expert guidance. Here are some of the most common issues:
1. Medicaid & Long-Term Care Planning
Many seniors worry about how they will afford nursing home care or in-home assistance. Medicaid planning helps protect assets while ensuring you qualify for benefits. A Queens elder lawyer can help navigate the application process and create strategies to preserve wealth for future generations.
2. Estate Planning: Wills & Trusts
Without a proper estate plan, your assets could end up in probate court, causing delays and legal headaches for your family. A customized will or trust ensures your wishes are followed and your loved ones are taken care of without unnecessary complications.
3. Power of Attorney & Healthcare Directives
Who will make financial and medical decisions if you become unable to? Having a durable power of attorney and a healthcare proxy in place allows a trusted person to act on your behalf, ensuring your affairs are managed according to your wishes.
4. Guardianship for Elderly Loved Ones
If a senior can no longer manage their affairs and hasn’t appointed a power of attorney, the court may appoint a legal guardian. This process can be complicated, but a skilled elder lawyer can simplify guardianship proceedings and ensure the best outcome for the senior involved.
5. Nursing Home & Elder Abuse Cases
Unfortunately, seniors are sometimes victims of neglect or financial exploitation. If you suspect abuse in a nursing home or by a caregiver, an elder law attorney can help take legal action to protect your loved one and recover losses.
Why You Need a Queens Elder Lawyer
Planning for the future is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family. Here’s why hiring an experienced elder lawyer in Queens is a smart decision:
🔹 Local Knowledge: Queens has unique estate laws, Medicaid rules, and elder care services that require an attorney familiar with the area. 🔹 Personalized Legal Solutions: Every family’s situation is different. A lawyer will tailor strategies to meet your specific needs. 🔹 Avoid Legal Pitfalls: Mistakes in Medicaid applications, estate planning, or guardianship proceedings can be costly and time-consuming. 🔹 Peace of Mind: Knowing your affairs are in order allows you and your family to focus on enjoying life without legal stress.
Choosing the Right Elder Law Attorney in Queens
With so many attorneys available, how do you find the right one? Here are some tips:
✔️ Look for Experience in Elder Law: Not all attorneys specialize in elder law. Choose someone with a proven track record in estate planning, Medicaid, and guardianship cases. ✔️ Check Client Reviews: Testimonials and online reviews can give insight into the lawyer’s reputation. ✔️ Schedule a Consultation: Many elder lawyers offer initial consultations. Take advantage of this to ask questions and determine if they are the right fit for your needs. ✔️ Understand Fees & Services: Ask about pricing upfront and what services are included.
One law firm that meets all these criteria is My Elder Law Attorney. Their experienced Queens elder law attorneys provide customized solutions to help seniors and families plan for the future with confidence.
Take Control of Your Future Today
Elder law is about protecting your rights, your assets, and your loved ones. Whether you need help with estate planning, Medicaid, or guardianship, the best time to take action is now. Waiting too long can lead to costly legal complications that could have been avoided with the right guidance.

Why You Should Not Plead Guilty to a Texas Criminal Charge
Tumblr media
Pleading guilty to a criminal charge in Texas can seem like a straightforward solution, but it carries significant risks and long-term consequences. Understanding these implications is crucial for anyone facing legal challenges, as a hasty decision can impact your life for years to come.
In this article, we explore why pleading guilty may not be in your best interest, the importance of legal counsel, and the critical role of courtroom strategy in navigating the complexities of the Texas criminal justice system.
Why Pleading Guilty to a Criminal Charge in Texas Can Be Detrimental
Immediate and Long-Term Consequences of a Guilty Plea in Texas
Immediate Consequences
When someone pleads guilty, the court usually sentences them right away. This could mean going to jail, paying fines, or being put on probation.
The judge decides the sentence based on how serious the crime is—whether it's a felony charge or a misdemeanor charge.
Unfortunately, pleading guilty doesn't always lead to a lighter sentence. Many people end up starting their sentence immediately instead of being offered alternative options like rehabilitation programs.
Long-Term Effects
The long-term effects of pleading guilty can be very serious. One big issue is that you will get a criminal record. This record can hurt your chances for jobs and housing in the future.
Many employers check backgrounds when hiring. Having a felony or misdemeanor conviction can mean missing out on job opportunities even years later.
Getting loans or finding a place to live can also become harder if you have a criminal record. Even if someone wants to clear their record through expungement—a process that removes certain offenses from public view—this can be complicated and eligibility varies based on the details of each case.
Legal Rights Impacted
By pleading guilty, you might give up some legal rights you would have if you went to trial.
For example, admitting guilt means you cannot contest evidence against you anymore. You also lose protections under constitutional law like the right against self-incrimination and your ability to negotiate for better plea deals with prosecutors.
Sometimes, individuals feel pressured into pleading guilty without knowing all their options or possible defenses available through proper legal help. This pressure can lead to wrongful convictions when defendants feel they have no choice but to accept a plea deal.
In summary, while it may seem easier at first, pleading guilty carries major risks. Immediate penalties can affect freedom now and the long-term impacts can affect personal rights related to jobs and housing in society for years to come.
Protecting Your Rights: The Importance of Legal Counsel
Understanding Your Rights Before Pleading Guilty: Know Your Options
Pleading guilty to a criminal charge can have serious effects. It's really important to know your legal rights and the options you have before making this choice.
Many people feel rushed into a plea deal without understanding what it means for their future. A guilty plea can lead to big fines, jail time, and a criminal record that might hurt job chances later.
When you think about pleading guilty, take time to look at all the plea options available. These could include trying to get lesser charges or finding alternative sentences that might lessen harsh penalties. Having legal representation helps you understand these choices and make a smart decision for your case.
Your lawyer is crucial in defending against charges. They will share insights about possible outcomes based on similar cases and current Texas laws. Knowing your rights is not enough; understanding how they apply to Texas law is key.
The Critical Role of a Criminal Defense Attorney in Texas
A good criminal defense attorney stands by your side throughout the court process. They create courtroom strategies based on your situation and handle the complex legal details in Texas.
Local attorneys know a lot about regional courts and prosecutors. This knowledge can affect how your case goes. They investigate evidence, talk to witnesses, and prepare strong arguments for trial when needed.
Defending against charges is not just about knowing the law. It’s also about careful planning that looks at both short-term needs and long-term effects.
An experienced attorney examines every part of your case to find weaknesses in the prosecutor's argument and builds solid defenses for better results.
Deandra Grant Law - Denton: Your Partner in Navigating the Texas Legal System
At Deandra Grant Law - Denton, we focus on client advocacy with personalized legal advice for each person we help. We go beyond simple representation; we believe in keeping our clients informed at every stage of the trial process.
Facing any legal challenge can feel overwhelming without support from knowledgeable professionals committed to protecting your interests.
With our focus on client-centered service and experience dealing with various criminal defense cases in Denton County, we work hard for positive outcomes while giving peace of mind to those confronting possible charges or convictions.
Plea Bargaining in Texas: Negotiating a Favorable Outcome
Plea bargaining is an important part of the criminal justice system in Texas. It lets defendants talk with prosecutors to get reduced charges or lighter sentences. This can help avoid the uncertainties that come with a trial.
By negotiating a plea bargain, you might achieve favorable outcomes like charge reductions or lesser penalties that can greatly affect your future.
Defendants often face serious criminal charges that could lead to tough penalties if convicted. Having experienced legal representation can help you deal with plea negotiations effectively.
A good attorney will look at the evidence against you and help decide if a plea bargain is right for your situation.
Courtroom strategy is also key during these negotiations. An effective criminal defense attorney in Texas will evaluate all parts of your case and make strong arguments to persuade prosecutors to offer better terms. This might mean pointing out weaknesses in the prosecution's case or showing reasons why your charges should be reduced.
Building a Strong Defense: Challenging the Evidence and Charges
Defending against charges involves carefully examining the evidence presented by law enforcement. Sometimes, police evidence can be flawed or improperly collected, which can create reasonable doubt about guilt.
A skilled defense attorney will check every detail of your arrest and any related proceedings.
Challenging police evidence means questioning whether proper procedures were followed during arrests and searches.
It also includes assessing how reliable this evidence is in proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. If there are serious issues about how the evidence was gathered or understood, this could lead to dismissed charges.
It's important to consult with an experienced defense attorney as soon as possible. They will help you understand your legal rights and develop strategies aimed at disputing any incriminating evidence presented by prosecutors.
Exploring Potential Defenses Against Criminal Charges
When dealing with criminal charges, it’s essential to explore possible defenses that prove innocence or lessen responsibility. Wrongful convictions happen more than people think, so knowing your legal rights is crucial during this process.
Different trial strategies exist based on individual situations. You might prove alibi witnesses are real or show there was no intent behind what led to the accusations against you.
Each defense needs to be carefully built on the facts of your case while also considering potential expungement if accusations turn out to be false after everything is resolved.
Taking proactive steps alongside knowledgeable counsel from local firms can make a big difference. They specialize in Texas laws and know how to handle various types of offenses you may be facing right now!
How a Guilty Plea Affects Employment Prospects
Pleading guilty to a crime can really hurt your chances of getting a job. Most employers do background checks, and if you have a criminal record from felony or misdemeanor charges, it can raise concerns.
Some jobs, especially those that need security clearances or involve working with kids or vulnerable people, might not hire you if you have certain convictions.
Having a criminal record can lead to fewer job opportunities and lower pay over time. Even small offenses can be seen negatively by employers who value trustworthiness and reliability. This is why having good legal representation is so important.
A skilled attorney can help you understand what your plea means and look for ways to lessen its effect on your job prospects.
The Long-Term Consequences of a Criminal Record on Your Life
The long-term consequences of a criminal record are serious. Beyond facing fines or jail time, individuals may run into problems in many parts of their lives. This includes difficulty finding housing or getting into college.
Many schools check applicants' backgrounds, which could hurt your chances.
A guilty plea might also lead to worries about wrongful conviction if new evidence comes up later that could prove your innocence.
While some offenses may be eligible for expungement after certain conditions are met under Texas law, not all records can be wiped clean. It’s crucial to know how the impact of your guilty plea can affect various areas of your life so you can plan accordingly.
Protecting Your Future: Minimizing the Impact of a Criminal Record
To lessen the impact of a criminal record on your life, it’s wise to seek help from a knowledgeable criminal defense attorney. They provide useful legal advice based on your situation. This could involve looking into expungement options or negotiating for lesser charges that won’t cause as much trouble.
Knowing about asset forfeiture laws in Texas is important for protecting your personal belongings after a conviction.
Client advocacy plays an essential role too; attorneys work hard to make sure clients receive fair treatment during their cases while also educating them about their rights moving forward.
By taking smart steps with experienced legal help at Deandra Grant Law - Denton, individuals facing charges stand a better chance at rebuilding their lives despite past mistakes.
Common Misconceptions About Pleading Guilty in Texas
Many individuals facing criminal charges in Texas hold misunderstandings about the implications of pleading guilty. Recognizing these misconceptions is crucial for making informed decisions. Here are some common myths surrounding guilty pleas:
A Guilty Plea Always Leads to a Lighter Sentence: While a plea deal can sometimes reduce penalties, it's not guaranteed.
Defendants Must Accept the Prosecution's Offer: Defendants can consult with an attorney and should consider all evidence before making a decision.
Pleading Guilty Eliminates the Chance to Fight Wrongful Convictions: Once someone pleads guilty, appealing based on claims of innocence becomes difficult unless certain conditions are met.
Understanding these misconceptions can help individuals navigate the legal process more effectively.
Situations Where a Plea Deal May Not Be Beneficial
While plea deals can offer certain advantages, there are specific situations where accepting one may not be in the defendant's best interest. Here are some scenarios to consider:
Strong Evidence of Innocence
If there is compelling evidence that supports your innocence or important witnesses who could aid at trial, going to court may be more advantageous.
Unexpected Consequences
Accepting a plea agreement can lead to unanticipated issues, such as losing professional licenses or immigration status, which may outweigh any benefits like charge reduction.
Importance of Courtroom Strategy
Emphasizing the principle of being "innocent until proven guilty" might provide an advantage against aggressive prosecutors who prefer quick pleas over fair trials.
Being aware of these situations can help defendants make more informed choices regarding plea deals.
Reviewing Evidence Before Accepting a Plea Agreement: A Critical Step
Before agreeing to any plea deal, looking closely at all relevant evidence is key for making smart choices about criminal charges. This means checking police reports and witness statements while making sure everything is accurate before going to trial.
Defendants need to understand what reasonable doubt means—the level of proof needed to establish guilt—and how the current evidence fits with this idea when weighing their case's strength against the risks of accepting pleas without proper review first.
Being careful and taking time to look over the evidence can help ensure decisions made during legal proceedings in Denton County and elsewhere are based on solid facts and knowledge about each unique situation faced along the way toward resolution.

Navigating the Texas Criminal Justice System: Court Proceedings and Sentencing
Knowing how the Texas criminal justice system works is very important if you're charged with a crime. This includes understanding your legal rights during different stages like arrest, arraignment, trial proceedings, sentencing, and plea options.
During court proceedings, you can expect several main steps:
Arraignment: You will hear the charges against you and enter a plea (guilty or not guilty).
Pre-Trial Motions: Your lawyer might file motions to challenge evidence or seek a dismissal of the case.
Trial Process: If no plea deal is made, your case goes to trial where both sides show evidence.
Sentencing: If found guilty or if you plead guilty, you'll face sentencing based on guidelines.
It's crucial to know the consequences of pleading guilty; it could lead to harsh penalties like jail time or fines without exploring other defenses or negotiating lesser charges.
Your Legal Rights During Proceedings:
You can stay silent until you talk to a lawyer.
You have the right to a fair trial by jury.
You can contest any illegal searches or seizures that happened during your arrest.
