#How do images of Dashcon differ from images of other cons in the same timeframe?

I see how this could be confusing! Let me shed some light on this.
Said YouTuber, who recently did a 2 hour long essay interviewing the people who actually WERE at dashcon, and how much we - as an online community - misconstrue the event towards the biases of Reddit/4chan. I recommend you go watch it, it's for free on YouTube and she actually talks about what really happened.

Considering that the main issue people had was Mismanagement, seeing as it was organised by a 17 year old autistic girl with no experience in management, and two adults who had ALSO never run/organised a con event ... I'd say the fact that that isn't the case in Dashcon 2, and that most of the responses from actual Dashcon Goers where that the event was more respectful than a lot of first year cons - which there are a lot of, that nobody talks about, that all die out after their first year typically - That the idea of Dashcon 2 is actually significantly less bad than the Online World would have you expect. Especially considering how most of the information tumblr itself remembers about Dashcon is either misinformation and rumors from people who where never actually there, or people parroting the opinions of The Internet Historian and other far-right leaners who have a vetted interest in demonising and discouraging the influence of a largely feminist neurodivergent and queer space as "cringe and annoying, therefore bad", I would say that dashcon 2 actually isn't as bad of an idea as people who have no experience with the original would say. As for why Strange is the only confirmed guest so far: It's literally a brand new event she lives next to. She has spoken to the organisers, confirmed - after spending literally several times the effort to research than either you or I have - that the new organisers have realistic goals and have organised it well enough that she trusts it. The event has existed publicly for ... a week? And you are expecting there to be more people who are published as attending, professionally, all paperwork done. Considering that she has been arranging her joining that event since before the announcement of it, I would assume the fact that they AREN'T immediately letting anyone jump on with no processing as a positive towards the better management, yes?
naming your event Dashcon 2 is the same as naming your boat Titanic 2 and i don’t mean this in like a funny chaos way I mean this as you probably should not trust this event and be extremely skeptical.
#Suffice to say I don't think anyone here is being skeptical for no reason#But actually listening to how Dashcon really was from people who were there - as opposed to how Tumblr sees it now -#I think a lot of people are just biased based on Cringe Culture and the fact people 'reporting' on it back in the day where doing so -#- solely BASED on the POSTS of the people actually there#Question for you potentially reading this: How many rooms was Dashcon?#How many people showed up for day one?#How do images of Dashcon differ from images of other cons in the same timeframe?#What were some of the topics discussed at Dashcon Panels and how rare were they in that time period?#Once you can answer me all those accurately then sure - you can tell me it's a bad or good idea#But if you're basing your entire opinion on the perspective of Cringe Culture Reddit from 2013 -#- with all respect: your opinion is biased as shit and you can fuck off with that.
