please get ready , claire story doesn´t make any sense .

like I said before , I lived a similar experience with carmen , but also there´s some differences .

so let´s see what I didn´t understand about claire :

first thing we know :

claire grew up with the berzatto family and she knows all of them even the faks , cicero , stevie , richie , tiff , god be good she knows everybody related to carmy and she always leave a good impression on them . emmmm , and this is not a good thing , because this makes her know what kinda life carmen had , and at least she must be the one who understand him but sadly no , she didn´t understand him and she can´t and she will not , because he is a human being with heart and soul and mind and feelings , he is not just a broken muscle , that you can fix it with science ....

second:

claire is not carmen girlfriend .

carmen was a shy boy , I swear he didn´t make any eye contact with claire back to school , he was just crushing on her like any one of us was crushing on someone when we were young . and since he was lonely child in a big family , he was maybe close to claire and not because he drew her that makes him in love with her . the berzattos just wanted him to open up and has a girlfriends in his life but everything went wrong and claire believed herself and believed that carmen is in love with her . and she becomes his unofficial girlfriend , she becomes the berzattos girlfriend and not carm´s.

third point :

according to my understanding , claire didn´t see carmen for long time , more than 5 years I swear , suddnely she appears in s2 and they quickly kiss , they quickly make out , and quickly goes to carm appartement , and they did everything quickly ,like hold on guys you didn´t even be a proper boyfriend and girlfriend , even you are not an ex . just imagine you meet your childhood crush after 10 years and you make out with him out of nowhere.

the only explanation I have is :

carmy was horny at that time and he still of course ,because did you find it weird is that after seeing syd or talk to her , he goes to claire and they do their intimate things like he is projecting his hidden desires on claire :

claire baby , did you stayed all that period without a boyfriend in the college or in the hospital , like come on all the doctors must have a list of exs , claire did you wait for carm , didn´t she put a possibility that he may has a girlfriend .

another point :

s2 last episode : carmen didn´t say anything wrong to claire , he was describing what he feels , and at that moment we should see claire staying with him , calming him , waiting for him and support him , but instead we get how she gonna deal with him , she just left him , and she was crying and she made everyone blaming carm and she even told tiff about what happened with wrong facts.

Plenty of scars , no facial tattoos ( he does have one that runs the side of his neck , down his left arm )

The large scar on his face , the one that covers his cheek and lashes out across his nose , was from a nasty situationship gone bad turned tavern brawl . It was originally three separate wounds that ended up interlinking because of their size . And Giilvas kept picking at them . It was a combination of broken glass , smacked across the face with a hand bearing a ring with too sharp a gem , and an actual blade .

He has scars along his back , some of them curving around his sides , from Loviatar worship . He has some on his hands and fingers from doing things he maybe shouldn’ t have , like knife tossing or trying to soothe the wrong animal . A few nicks and cuts litter the rest of him , along with scarred elbows and knees from falls and the like .

14) what was your tav's life like before they got kidnapped by the mindflayers?

It wasn’ t anything luxurious , but Giilvas enjoyed it anyways . Wandering minstrel who would try to find trouble where ever it may be , he has to have heroics to sing about if he’ s going to sing at all . Little gold , making do camping in woods or bargaining for a tavern room . Sometimes , if he’ s lucky , he’ ll find an abandoned hunting lodge or summer cottage to stay a few nights in . Or he’ ll rest with the people he’ s aided .

Live off the land half the time , the other half is was living with the bare minimums covered . He could make coin fine , but he usually ended up declining most of it . Not wanting to take from people who had little to give in the first place .

The one major thing was that he was lonely . He kept no company and didn’ t take on any companionship . He pretended that he preferred living that way , and that it was better off like this . He almost convinced himself of that lie too .

He had been trying to get to Baldur’ s Gate , when he was kidnapped . Finally gave in and decided to visit the city he’ s heard so much about . Knowing he’ ll probably be underwhelmed and that he’ ll end up spending his nights on the outskirts .

16) how do they feel about raphael? did they take him up on his offer?

Due to the circumstances that he and Raphael met , I really like to pretend that Raphael was more miffed during their interaction . Zerxes had gone the entirety of the first area , goblin camp complete and the grove safe , and didn’ t run into Raphael once . Zerxes was just strangely lucky to not encounter him , Raphael was half convinced this was on purpose .

Since it’ s clear to Zerxes that Raphael is 1) a bit peeved and 2) felt inclined to make himself at home . In his camp . After dark . Zerxes isn’ t giving him a lot of room to speak . And he isn’ t going to give him much thought .

Anytime Zerxes is presented with an offer like this , from something that would have him sign a deal and take something from him before he could realize what it is , he thinks of his little sister . And how he would be a fool if he did the exact same thing he had scolded her for doing . He swallows his desperation , in that moment , and refuses .

22) who was your tav's family? did they have any?

Born of a noble family , he has a rather sprawling family tree . His mother and father , his grandparents, his godparents , his aunts and uncles , his cousins , his distant cousins . It’ s a lot . And it’ s not something he keeps up with . The Sarbis family is a long record , an overgrown bush . Complete with all the dead and rotted branches .

He’ s the oldest child currently . He was not his parent’ s first child . He has a little sister , Iniza , and he knows he definitely has other younger siblings he hasn’ t met . And probably never will meet .

He doesn’ t know if he and his sister have been truly ex-communicated , but he knows that he hasn’ t received a single letter since both of them left home .

This chapter has a ton of feels. I love Brock in this story. And I´m so proud that I wrote this!

Summary: Reader wants to surprise Brock with food. But things doesn´t go exactly as planned.

Brock isn't there when you get home from work. You don't know what you feel about that at first, but when you take a quick peak into the guest room, and see that his stuff's still there. You're happy that he didn't leave.

After a quick shower, you decide to make some food for once. You almost always order out, when your dad isn't home. No fun cooking just for one. But if Brock will show up in a bit, you could surprise him. Not that you have superpowers in the kitchen or anything. But what you know how to do, you really know how to do.

You get all your supplies out, and start on two different doughs, one for garlic bread, and one for Cheese and herb bread. Two of your absolute favorites, so crispy and tasty. And even better with your signature cheese and haljapeno dip. Perfect for a night in front of the TV. Usually you make this for girls night with Jess and Molly. But since this particular recipe never failed you, you could try to surprise Brock with it. Maybe there is some truth to the term "The way to a mans heart is through the stomach". You just hope he'll like it.

Just when you set both doughs away for rising, you hear Brock enter. A short minute later he walks into the kitchen. Looks around.

- Wow... Did a tornado pass through here that I did not know about.

He says, gesturing to the kitchen counter. Four or five different cheeses, flour everywhere, and yeah the haljapenos.

- Ha ha very funny!

You say, throwing a bag of shredded cheese at him. He catches it, opens it right away, and takes a big chunk out of it, before he puts it in his mouth.

- Hey! That's for my cheese and herb bread!!

He puts the bag down on the counter, and comes over to you. Grabs you by the waist, and leans in for a kiss.

- YNs specialty. Are you cooking for me now?

He says with a teasing smile.

- I was...

You say, let the rest of the sentence die out. Suddenly you're very aware of the fact that he's THAT much older than you. He probably wants something more sophisticated.

- So.. What are we having?

He looks around the kitchen again.

- Well..

You start, and walk over to your doughs.

- This is going to be garlic bread!

You put your hand on one of the bowls.

- This is going to be cheese and herb bread.

You put your hand on the other bowl. And then you walk over to the casserole by the oven.

- And in here I was going to make a cheese and haljapeno dip.

You say, shrugging a bit, before you look down.

- Want any help?

He asks. Placing his hand on your chin, tilting your head back up again. You look at him, and then you look at his hand.

- Absolutely, but you need to wash up first. I can't remember seeing motor oil anywhere in the recipe.

You both laugh a bit, before he goes to wash up.

Thirty minutes later, you sprinkle the counter with some flour before you get your doghs out.

- And then you just knead it like this.

You knead one of your doughs as you talk to Brock.

- Like this?

Brock asks, grabbing your behind, squeezing it. You let out a little scream.

- Not THAT!

You say, throwing some flour at him.

- Oh, so that's what we're doing?

Brock answers, as he puts his hand into the flour, before he again grabs you by the waist from behind, bringing his flour coated hand up to your face, smearing the flour around. You let out a happy scream, before he lets you again again.

- No need to ask who's got the upper hand here, YN!

Brock says, as he playfully touch your nose.

- Oh, really?

You answer, as you take a big chunk of the flour in your hand, before you throw it at him.

- Oh, now you've gone and done it, YN!

Brock says, before he grabs one of your arms, spins you around, so your back is agains him, and your arms pinned in front of you. When you're standing there, with his hands around you, he whispers into your ear.

- Now how will you be kneading that dough Miss. Rollins.

His breath on you, sends waves of shivers down your spine. You move your head back, and look up at him. He leans down and kisses you. When he pulls back, you smile at him.

- You taste like flour Mr. Rumlow..

He looks at you for a second before he smiles.

- So do you. And I like it!

He proclaims, before he starts to place kisses all over your face. You scream and laugh in joy. The happy feeling spreads throughout your entire body, and you don't think you've ever been this happy in your entire life. When he finally lets you go, you're almost out of breath.

- So...

He says, still looking at you.

- Say we make some food?

He turns towards the counter, and start to knead the dough you assigned to him.

- You read my mind!

You answer, and then you just stand there kneading the doughs, together. It's nice, even a tiny bit romantic. You like this. This having someone thing.

When you close up the oven, you turn to Brock. Look at your watch.

- We have about 12-15 minutes. Any ideas for activities?

You say, teasingly biting your lower lip. Brock smiles at you, before his arms again wraps you in a hug.

- Oh, I might have some ideas...

He says, tilting your face, plants a kiss on your lips, before he lifts you up, and walk over to the couch. Sits down, with you on his lap, facing him. You've never been in this position with a guy before. This feels so good. His arms around you, gently up and down your back. You're not even thinking about the age difference now.

His lips finds yours again, your tongues dancing together like they've been aching for that from the beginning of time. You hands glide up in his hair again. It's so soft. His hands glide up your back, underneath your shirt, you lean your face into his neck, feeling his breath on your neck. Is this really happening? Are you really here? On your dad's couch? With Brock? Is this even possible?

You let your lips touch his neck, tasting his skin. He taste maskuline. He smells good, like masculine perfume and garage. He pulls your body closer to his.

- Mmmmm...

You say, breathing into his neck. How far is he going to take this tonight? Are you going to sleep with Brock? You feel ready for that. And having him this close is the best feeling you've ever had.

He lifts his arms up, gently removing your arms from around his neck. Looking at you, adjusting his lower body a bit, before he clears his throat. Gives you a little smile.

- I have to stop, YN!

You look at him, before you get off his lap, and sit down next to him. Your stomach sinks so far down it feels like it's about to fall right out. Why don't he want you? Did you do something wrong? Are you no good?

He adjust his lower body again, tugging his pants a bit. Looking at you, you can feel that he does, but you're not looking back.

- I get it, Brock!

You say, start to get up from the couch. He grabs your wrist.

- It's not like that, YN!

You slowly turn to face him.

- No?

You ask, desperately trying to hold your tears back.

- Like I said, YN. I'm not ready for that next step yet.

He says, looking at you, compassionate.

- What if I am?

You say, leaning back in the couch. He gently lets his hand move up to your face, turning it to face him.

- And I believe that, YN. But this isn't something any of us should take lightly. Sex should be a special act. And you.... WE should be careful who we share it with.

You put your face in your hands. Brock puts his arms around you, and pulls you into him.

- I.... I just don't want you to regret anything. I want this to be a good thing for you.

He says, as he moves his hand up and down your back.

- So you don't want to.... With me?

You sniff into his chest.

- Oh, I want to, YN. Why did you think I stopped? I just don't think we're quite ready... yet!

He says, emphasis on the "yet". You take a deep breath. Look up at him again.

- I can give you a ton of these though..

He says, as he leans in for another kiss. His lips softly meeting yours again makes you feel a little better. The kiss is long, and tender. When he finally sits back up again, you almost can't move, the kiss kinda knocked the wind out of you.

Brock sniffs in the air.

- Is something burning?

He asks. You instantly get up from the couch.

- The food!!

You shout, before you run into the kitchen, yank the oven door open, smoke pours out. You wave it away.

- What is it?

Brock asks behind you, as you get the burned food out of the oven.

- Well that's my garlic bread, and that's my cheese and herb bread.

You say, pointing to the black lumps on the tray.

- Perfect!

You say angry, kicking one of the cabinets.

- At least the cheese and haljapeno dip survived.

Brock says, still behind you.

- Arrrg.. I can't do anything right!

You say, as you grab both the garlic and the herb bread, and throw them in the trash. Leaning on your arms on the counter. Brock comes up behind you, puts his arms around you again.

- Hey, YN. Every part of you is very, very right..

You turn around.

- Yeah? I can't even get a fucking garlic bread right!

You say, sniffing again.

Brock again tilt your face, and kiss you.

- Well, the dip survived, and you're lucky, because we have this...

He gets a menu down from the fridge.

- And you have a temporary roommate, that is really hungry for tacos right now. So what do you say, we order some, and dip them in that wonderful dip you made?

You look at him. He is so calm about everything. Maybe you let your emotions get the better of you. It's just that.... You really wanted this to be perfect. This has never happened before. You always get this right. This is your signature dish.

- So... Up for tacos?

Brock asks again. You nod, and force a smile.

- Absolutely!

You say.

Brock takes a hold on the top of your head, turns it towards the couch.

- See that couch over there?

He asks, as he puts his other hand on your back.

- Mhm..

You answer, calmer now. Tacos actually sounds good.

- You go and relax there for a while, while I take care of everything. OK, can you do that for me?

He says, closer to you now.

- I can do that...

You answer. And your internal smile finally reaches your lips. Brock guides you over to the couch, and covers you with a blanket. Then he leans down, and again place one of those soft kisses on your lips. You close your eyes.

- Now you're going to stay right there, and I'll be right back with your tacos.

Then he leaves for the kitchen, and you smile from hearing him working in there. You can hear him ordering the tacos, and getting plates out, everything feels so good right now.

You eat, and talk about anything and everything. It feels so right, everything fits, everything is perfect.

But there's still one thing you need to talk about. There's still one problem that needs to be resolved. And you have no idea how to break it to him. You try to find a good way to fit it into the conversation the entire night. But you don't manage to get the words out.

When you finally go to bed, you decide that you have to, this needs to be adressed. You need to know what you're going to do, once your dad gets back.

You lie on your back beside him. Just like you did last night, and the night before. He must have thought about it. He must have.

- Brock...

You say, turning towards him. He looks at you.

- I know...

He says. Knows what? You look at him, asking with your eyes.

- Jack, right?

He says. Sounds like he's thought about this quite a lot.

You nod.

- I don't know, YN..

He says, leaning closer.

- Maybe we should not tell him?

You say. But you know that in the long run, that won't work. If it even is a long run...

- We'll have to tell him sometime, YN...

He answers, smiling, kissing your forehead.

- But, we don't have to worry about that now. Come here! Let's get some sleep.

He stretches out his arms, for you to lie down on. None of the other nights has he done that. And for that alone, you don't continue the conversation. You just move in closer to him, and snuggle your face into his neck. And there, close to him, with his arms around you, you fall asleep, sleeping better than you have in a long long time.

nhk thoughts

i'm sooo happy to see sota on the podium -- i do wish for better, more original packaging from his team for next season.

kaori's skates always make me cry. i love how large and open her movements are, and how fast she skates across the ice. she is just different, so powerful. kaori always seems so nervous before she goes on the ice, that it makes me nervous ... but then when she gets on the ice i just forget everything. the running edge on some of her jumps is just incredible. i hope she recovers from her illness soon and gets her confidence back. her ex gala was wonderful.

kazuki's skating is so fun. really whimsical. i would like to see him skate to a more serious, minimalist program, too.

idk i just feel very neutral about jun. beautiful jumps, ina bauer.

idk how i feel about adam. I think he has great quality of movement, but i didn't like the programs or choreo themselves all that much ... it just felt a little maximalist/inflated? that's just my onion idk. very fun ex, more skaters hsould use swords/lightsabers/props.

ted shut up dude. but i thought it was really funny how he kept trying to make sota's name rhyme. soto yamamoto. sota yamamota.

i rly liked this gravity -- a major improvement from SCI gravity, with the musical timing. not sure why people don't like this program -- at the beginning when it was still very messy, yes, but now? his performance is just so incredibly intense, intensely human and raw. it's what i wanted from dancing on my own, but didn't feel like i got 100% -- i just feel like he's so sensitive to movement here, to the timing and performance and emotionality. so much tension in that ending pose, like there's a real sense of emotional turbulence and ...gravity... here, that just wasn't as present in DOMO, a similarly melancholic program. i just love it. love it so much.

ok one major issue i have with shormenta is the transition between bach and orlinski -- it seems very hard for shoma to get the timing right, to do the little hop right as tormenta comes in, b/c of the ritardando at the end of the bach. maybe he just needs to practice it more, but if he can't get it perfectly timed maybe they should change the choreo so that it doesn' t look like he's off time every time the music starts?

this is not the most hellish moment in the story of their country. Just the most hellish momentso far.”- And this was but a mere glimpse of the kind of anarchy and terror that ravaged the lands back in AFO’s heyday. The clock has turned back, the lord of evil has risen anew, and the world is reverting back to the chaotic era wherein he ruled from the shadows, unseen, yet omnipresent in each act of evil and devastation witnessed.

And besides that, all those people are willing to kill and die on his name, the heroes can’t do anything without spilling a lot of blood, on both sides.”- Given how much blood and death the heroes have been forced to produce in an effort to stop Tomura and the league, only to have their efforts come to naught in the end, I can’t help but be reminded of nitetzsche’s abyss quote. At this point, what’s the difference between the heroes and the villains beyond the fact that one side wants to stop this before it leads to further tragedy, and the other is enraged and desperately fighting back against the enforcers of the oppressive system that led to them joining this revolution in the first place? Neither side is wholly wrong in their desires, but at the same time, neither one is fully correct with each wanting different versions of the status quo in effect. (MHA ch 257) 3) “EXCUSE ME?

So fucked up. The absolute devastation and the overwhelming horror at the face of it all, so much that the only thing he could say was that he was not cut for it.

this will fuck me up for a while.”- Underneath it all, a hero is still a human being, and what can a human do about this situation but realise their limitations? 5) “…

WAIT WHAT WAS THAT PANEL LAST PAGE”- That…was the main characters suffering their first personal loss. Just because they knew people in their social circles, it didn’t mean they had any kind of plot armour protecting them. Aizawa survived getting mangled as badly as he did through his own rationality and skills, but Midnight, was not as lucky. 6) “FUCK THAT HORIKOSHI YOU BETTER NOT HAVE FUCKING KILLED MIDNIGHT OR I WILL REMOVE YOUR FEMUR AND USE IT TO PLAY XYLOPHONE WITH YOUR RIB CAGE”- And so Horikoshi addresses the “deus ex machina” of Tomura’s survival – it wasn’t truly any external force that revived him, but the mysterious willpower of humanity that enables you to break through your limits and pull off immense feats, which Quirks at times seem to be tapped into. For all the factors in the battle they could control, the heroes couldn’t understand or restrain the all-consuming destructive impulses that lurk in Tomura’s heart, driving him forwards beyond all logic and reasoning. (MHA ch 269) 7) “OH GOD I THINK MIC ACTUALLY GOT HIM ON TIME

HE WASN`T ZAPPED, HE`S STILL DOWN

NOW, AS LONG AS WE CAN KEEP KAMINARI OR ANY NOMU WITH ELECTRIC POWERS AWAY FROM HIM, EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE.”- In the end, it wouldn’t even have mattered. By the narrative’s own admission, the electric shock didn’t even really revive him, it was all Tomura’s literally undying willpower that brought him back from death. The heroes really did kill him, but he’s so empowered by hatred, he can nigh-literally bring himself back from dying no matter how much they kill him. (MHA ch 270)

8) “YOU TAKE THE FUCKING COMATOSE DUDE AWAY FROM HERE BEFORE YOU START HITTING PIECES OF MACHINE THAT CAN CAUSE ELECTRIC ARCS WHEN DAMAGED

I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD, IF YOU ARE THE ONE THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FROM THIS SLEEPY DIPSHIT TO WAKE UP I`M GOING TO DISASSEMBLE YOU ATOM BY ATOM WITH A FUCKING PINCER.”- Technically, he really wasn’t, but that hardly matter now, after everything’s be lost to the ashes… (MHA ch 270) 9) “NOT THAT IT MATTERS BECAUSETHEFUCKING CELLECTIRC CABLE NO NO NO NONONONON GODAFUCKINGDAMMIT X-FUCKER”- Still not really his fault, but, you can’t judge him for wanting to make sure the slightest chance of the villain’s comeback was thwarted. In the end, he was ironically trying to make sure there was no chance of them pulling an Uno-reverse, but thanks to Tomura’s sheer willpower, it wouldn’t have mattered anyway.

10) “Now, Furuhashi, we’ll need to have a talk over what her quirk actually does, because although it acted like it was supposed to, you made it seem like it can do more, to be more precise, you made it seem like it is a low form of mind-control, and I’m now wondering if we were supposed to find about it later in the main series or not.”- Well, given Midnight’s fate in the canon, this was probably Horikoshi giving Furuhashi permission to expand on the specific details of midnight’s quirk, since Horikoshi wouldn’t have further opportunities for himself to do so past this point…

11) “And yet, Mic seems reluctant about it, meaning that it must be a closer teacher, someone like cementoss or Snipe, because I`ll be dead and buried before I suspect Midnight of being a mole.”- Well, now Midnight’s dead and needing buried, so we can definitely strike her off the suspect list for sure.

“I don’t know Frankie…”

“Come on, querida. She’s gonna love you.”

Biting your lip, you think about what he asked you. Frankie and you had been dating about a year now. You were both crazy about the other but there was one last major relationship thing you had to do - meet his 4 year old daughter, Ximena. Frankie’s ex, Maria, had been extra cautious about allowing Ximena to meet you and you weren’t sure if that was because of being cautious or she just hated the fact that someone else was with Frankie. 

“What if she hates me?” You ask nervously.

“She won’t. I’ve already told her all about you.”

He gives you those big, puppy eyes and you know you’d do anything for him. Sighing, you nod. “Ok. But let’s go over some things she likes so I can win her over.”

Frankie gives you a big smile and pulls you to him, hugging you tightly and kissing the top of your head. “She’s gonna love you, querida.”

Frankie was right about a lot of things and wrong about others. Ximena loving you? He was definitely wrong about that. 

The first time she came in the door, she gave you an appraising look, her tiny brown eyes scanning you judgingly from head to toe. You didn’t even know 4 year olds could roll their eyes and smirk, but Ximena proved they could. She walked straight past you and into her room at Frankie’s, immediately pulling out some of her favorite toys and bringing them to him.

“Papá, play princesses with me?” She looks up at him, holding out one of her Disney princess Barbies.

Frankie glances at you before kneeling down to her level. “Mija, why don’t you play with querida? She would love to play princesses with you.”

She glances at you and you give her a smile, nodding your consent. “I love princesses!”

Ximena looks back at her dad. “I want to play with you, Papá.”

“I have to cook dinner, mija. She’s fun to-”

Ximena shakes her head and looks up at Frankie, her eyes big and wide, exactly like Frankie’s puppy look. 

“Mija-”

“It’s ok, Frankie. I can make dinner. I’m sure she missed you! We can play later.”

Frankie looks up at you, an apology in his gaze as he turns back to Ximena, who hadn’t even so much as glanced your way since she first got here.

“Alright, mija. Let’s go.”

Ximena takes his hand, a smile stretching across her face as she pulls him down the hall towards her room. You head into the kitchen and start making the spaghetti, Ximena’s favorite, exactly how Frankie told you she liked it. 

That could’ve gone better. Maybe things will get better.

They did not.

Ximena ate a couple bites of food before leaving the table, never once looking at you or even acknowledging your presence. Frankie could sense how hurt you were, but you also understood - another woman was in her dad’s life and this is a normal reaction to the “intruder”. You figured, and Frankie insisted, that with time she would come to accept you.

Time was also not your friend. Ximena hadn’t so much as acknowledged your presence in the 4 months since you first met, and it wasn’t from lack of trying on yours and Frankie’s parts. She just didn’t seem to want anything to do with you.

One night, after Maria had picked her up, you sat on the couch watching a movie with Frankie. 

“Is there something wrong with me, Frankie?” You ask, out of the blue.

“What?”

Continuing to stare ahead at tht tv, you answer in a small voice. “Why doesn’t she like me?”

“Oh, querida. She does-”

Turning your head, you fix him with a look.

“Ok. Maybe she doesn’t like you yet, but she will. She just needs time.”

“Is there something wrong with me though?”

Frankie cups your face in his hands, making sure his eyes find yours. “Nothing is wrong with you. She just…needs some time. Ok?”

He’s genuine, and you know he’d tell you if something was wrong. 

Nodding slightly, you answer. “Ok.”

Frankie kisses you gently before a loud explosion from the movie makes you both jump, giggling at the sudden interruption.

2 months later, it happened. 

Frankie was on a business call upstairs and Ximena was playing outside while you watched, hopeful she’d ask you to play. Of course she hadn’t, but you were determined to not let that get you down anymore. 

Ximena starts running, chasing after her ball when she trips, knee scraping against the patio floor. She flips around, a cry starting to come out of her tiny lips when your shadow crosses over her form. Calmly, you kneel down to her level.

“May I take a look?”

Ximena, for the first time since that initial meeting, looks up at you, tears welling in her eyes, but her cry stalling in her throat. 

“Maybe you can help me inspect the wound, Doctor Ximena?”

A smile tugs at the corner of her lips at the nickname - doctor was one of her favorite games to play with Frankie. She nods and turns to sit down, dusting off her hands that managed to not get scraped. She bends her knee, wincing at the movement as you both take a closer look.

“Well, it doesn’t look bad. But it does look like it needs to be cleaned and a bandage. What do you say, Doctor?”

Ximena studies her scrape for a few more seconds, sniffling as she looks up at you, nodding in agreement. 

“Will you show me where the bandages are?” She nods in agreement and goes to stand, wincing again at the movement to her knee.

“Want me to carry you? It can be like those special beds they have in hospitals with the wheels on them.”

Ximena’s eyes light up at the thought and she nods. Gently, you pick her up, knee facing out as you walk into the house. With a few points, Ximena shows you where the bathroom is, pointing to the cabinet where Frankie keeps the first aid kit and some boxes of character printed bandaids next to it. Grabbing everything, you pull it out and also grab a couple of washcloths, one of which you wet.

“See this wet cloth?” You hold it up and Ximena nods. “I’m going to use it to softly clean away the blood, ok?”

“Will it hurt?” Ximena’s eyes were wide and round, just like her dad’s as she stares up at you.

“It might. But only a little. Would you like to help me?”

Ximena sniffles and nods. “Great! Here - hold the cloth and I’ll help.”

You place your hand on top of hers and guide her through the cleaning, noticing that she hasn’t winced at all. In fact, she looks extremely curious about everything, even looking closer at the scrap once all of the blood was wiped away.

“It’s not one cut but a thousand hundred little ones!” She says animatedly.

“You’re right! Very good observation, doctor.”

Ximena smiles, glancing over at the bandaids. “I want one with sharks.”

“You got it.”

As you help her with the bandaid, Ximena watches in fascination as you cross 2 of them in an X shape. After, you help her down from the counter and she watches her knee as she bends it a few times, making sure it won’t come off. A quick glance at you and a small smile and she was gone, running back downstairs and out the back door. 

Later that night, after Ximena was asleep, Frankie crawls into bed next to you. 

“I see you got to play doctor today.”

“Oh yeah. She just scraped her knee a little while chasing the ball.”

“Well you must have handled it very well. She went on and on about how you played doctor and showed her what the scrape looks like and everything.”

Your eyes snap to his, lighting up. “Really? She talked about me?”

“Mmhmm. Told you. Time.”

The next morning, you’re in the kitchen making pancakes, Ximena’s favorite, as Frankie was in the shower. Ximena walks in and sees you, quietly standing in the doorway for several minutes observing you. Then she seems to make up her mind, walking determined towards you.

“What’s your favorite shark?” She asks.

“My favorite shark? You know, I don’t think anyone has ever asked me that before.”

“Then you must have silly friends.”

Chuckling, you glance down at her. “I definitely have silly friends.”

“My favorite is the great white shark! Because it jumps out of the water sometimes!” She mimics the shark jumping from the water to catch its prey and you smile at her.

“That’s true - I do like watching them jump out of the water.”

“Yeah but what’s your favorite?”

“Hhmm…I think..the goblin shark.”

Ximena’s eyes light up. “THAT IS MY OTHER FAVORITE!”

She goes on a long tangent about goblin sharks as you finish up the pancakes, helping you bring things to the table. What neither of you notice is Frankie in the doorway, leaning against the door frame, arms crossed while he smiles at you both.

The rest of the day continues like this - Ximena demanding to play with you and ask you all sorts of questions. At bedtime, she asks you to read a book to her for bed. It takes her a while (and 3 books) to fall asleep, her little chest rising and falling as you leave the room, closing the door behind you.

When Maria comes to pick her up the next day, she gives you a hug, asking if you’ll be there next time to play more. After many assurances that you will be, she gives you one more bug before planting a wet kiss on Frankie’s cheek, following her mom out of the door.

“See? I told you she just needed time,” Frankie says as he locks the door behind them.

Chuckling, you nod. “You did. You were right.”

Frankie feigns shock. “I’m sorry. What was that?”

Punching him in the arm playfully, you repeat it. “I said you were right.”

“That’s what I thought I heard.”

“You’re an asshole, Francisco Morales.”

He wraps his arms around you, leaning down to kiss you. “But you love me.”

“That I do.”

Frankie stares down at you, his eyes darkening as he takes you in. He leans down to kiss you again, this time deepening the kiss as he walks you back towards the bedroom, where he helps you unwind from the busy week.
