dennis' morning routine takes him two hours, and he wakes up around five a.m. every day regardless of what time he is needed at the bar. the time that he goes to sleep depends on how late he is working at paddy's. dennis usually gets between four - six hours of sleep a night ( yes he could use more but sleep is something that he has always struggled with ).
5:00 am - he wakes up and spends some time in bed. he will use this time in bed to check his text messages, emails, and other notifications on his phone. he does not use a phone alarm to wake him up, he still has an alarm clock on his bedside table. he does not need more than one alarm to wake him up, just one alarm that goes off at five. 5:10 am - once he is out of bed he does ten jumping jacks, twenty push ups, twenty sit ups, and twenty crunches. he does this morning work out in his bedroom. 5:30 am - once he is done in his bedroom he heads to the bathroom to shower, and he does these next steps in order. shampoo, body wash, conditioner, body wash, rinse out conditioner, body mask, rinse, dry off. he takes his time with these steps, and prefers a cooler running shower to a hot water. he picks his clothes for the day the evening before. so once he is out of the shower he towels off, applies an unscented body lotion, and gets dressed. 5:50 am - next he moves on to skincare. depending on the day, he will start off with shaving. he usually shaves his face and neck every other day. he starts with a cleanser, than a vitamin c serum, moisturizer, under eye cream that is meant to target wrinkles and dark under eye circles, and finally a spf. he will apply concealer, foundation, and a bit of mascara as well. 6:00 am - he moves on to then floss, brush his teeth, and mouth wash. 6:10 am - next is his hair. he adds a leave in conditioner, and then he will put on a curl defining mousse. he lets his hair air dry through out the morning. 6:20 am - he gets started on his morning coffee. he switches between a pour over coffee maker or a french press depending on the day. yes, he grinds his own coffee beans with a burr grinder and a goose neck electric kettle. 6:30 am - he sits down at the kitchen table and reads the days paper and drink his coffee. first priority is catching up on the news, and then he fills out the crossword for the day. depending on how he's feeling, he will sometimes make himself a second cup of coffee. 6:55 am - he does a double check in the mirror to make sure his hair is looking alright, his skin is looking alright, and his clothes are not wrinkled. 7:00 am - time to start the day !! if he doesn't have to go to paddy's until later he will go out and run errands, or stay at the apartment and find something to do there.
no step in this routine can be missed. if he misses a step it will throw off his whole day and he will be extremely irritable and it will be easier to set him off. if someone tries to interrupt his morning routine he will simply glare at them and not respond. mac learned quickly after moving in with dennis to give him his alone time and space in the mornings.

How To Apply Concealer And Foundation On Dark Skin

How To Apply Concealer And Foundation On Dark Skin
A. How To Apply Concealer And Foundation On Dark Skin
Dark-skinned women know how difficult it is to hide dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Learning the proper techniques for applying concealer and foundation on dark skin can easily hide common skin patches on dark skin.
The best way to apply concealer and foundation on dark skin is to first color dark spots and hyperpigmentation with a full orange concealer. This makes it easier for the foundation and concealer to hide the skin tags that are often associated with dark skin.
To give you the best advice, I contacted professional makeup artists and asked them to give me the best tips on the subject. The first professional makeup artist I contacted was Valeria Heredia, founder of Real Beauty School and author of the eBook Makeup Made Easy.
1. Steps to apply concealer and foundation on dark skin
a. Prepare your skin
Dark skin tends to be oily. If you have dark oily skin, apply a mattifying primer all over your face, then apply an oily skin day cream and eye cream to your eye area. If you have a combination to dry your skin, use a shiny moisturizer!
b. Right color
The second step is color correction. Dark skin tends to have deep dark spots and hyperpigmentation in certain areas such as the mouth and chin. Dark circles are also common. To cover everything well on dark skin, it is important to apply an orange concealer over the entire area. Apply only to areas where necessary (such as dark spots) and mix well with clean fingers or a makeup sponge.
c. Apply concealer
Use a makeup sponge to apply concealer to your eyes, around your mouth and to any other areas where you applied the orange concealer. Hit the concealer with a makeup sponge until it matches your skin perfectly. You can also apply concealer directly to your cupid’s bow, chin and forehead to make them stand out.
d. Warm your base
With clean hands, warm the primer with your fingers for a few seconds before applying it. This gives better results as it helps to melt and mix the basic ingredients for a perfect application on the skin.
e. Apply foundation
Take 2 to 5 small drops from the base and apply them directly to the face. Hit with a makeup sponge and then hit the concealer and color concealer.
f. Use setting powder
Use a banana powder instead of just a translucent white powder. This allows you to highlight certain areas with a more natural tone. Use a large, soft makeup brush to apply the banana powder under your eyes, forehead and chin. Let it sit for a few minutes and then use the same brush to spread it over your face and define the other areas.
g. Apply spray setting
Apply a fixing spray to help your makeup last longer.
2. How to choose the right concealer shade for dark skin
The correct shade of concealer should be one or two shades lighter than your skin tone and should match your skin tone. If you have neutral skin, choose a neutral concealer.
3. How to choose the right foundation for dark skin
The correct base tone and formula are based on the skin tone, skin tone, skin type and desired coverage.
As a makeup artist, I recommend finding a matte foundation with medium to full coverage and buildable coverage.
The best thing you can do to adjust the base tone is to try the base tone between the neck and the chest (not the arms) after applying the concealer. The foundation should be the same skin tone as your skin and concealer.
4. Difference between skin tone and dark skin tone
Theresa Novicky, a licensed makeup artist from southern Maine, explains that skin tones should not be confused with skin tone.
Skin tone – How dark or light your skin is depends on how much pigment you have on your skin.
Undertone – the tone just below the skin surface that most women of color have warm tones
Cold, neutral undertones can also appear in black women. For example, dark skin tones with cool tones include celebrities like Lupita Nyong’o, Mindy Kaling and Octavia Spencer.
Celebrities with dark skin tones with neutral tones include Kerry Washington and Selena Gomez. It is also much easier to find the shade when you shop on a makeup line designed for women. I love Iman Cosmetics, Mented and The Lip Bar
  B. How To Apply Concealer The Correct Way For Each Part Of The Face
Any makeup lover will agree that concealer is one of the most important products to achieve a uniform finish. After all, it helps to hide any skin problem and even makes your face look toned and perfect. Although most women have the best concealers that money can buy, very few of them know how to apply it and then the problem arises. Not knowing how to use a product can become ineffective and you will blame the product. Instead, how about learning to use it properly for your benefit?
In this article, we will provide a step-by-step guide for applying concealer to any part of the face. Before proceeding, however, here are some tips and tricks that you should follow to achieve the most perfect look of all time
1. Do and don’t
a. To do
Use concealer for strong dark circles
Choose a shade that is lighter than the base
Apply moisturizer before concealer
Mix your foundation first, then apply concealer
b. No
Use the same concealer all over your face
Forget Concealer acts as a shadow primer
Apply concealer before applying the primer
Forget setting up powder concealer
2. How to apply concealer under the eyes
Dark circles are a common problem that most women struggle with. Now, thanks to the concealers, you can hide those panda eyes and look refreshed in minutes. But do you know how to apply concealer to hide dark circles? The following steps will help.
Using the ring finger, apply a moisturizing eye cream and massage lightly until it is completely absorbed.
Take a small amount of primer and smooth it over the eyelid and below the eye area.
If you have strong dark circles, first apply an orange concealer and mix well.
Now apply small points of concealer under the eyes, closer to the lashes, and don’t forget the inner corner of the eye.
Gently apply the concealer with a brush or fingertip and apply it to the skin. Do not rub, as this will ruin your appearance.
3. How to apply concealer around the mouth
If the area around your mouth looks darker than the rest of your face, then you are not alone, it is a common problem and we know how frustrating it can be. But there is nothing that a small concealer cannot fix. All you need to know is how to apply the concealer effectively around the mouth.
After applying the foundation, use a slightly lighter shade of concealer and pat the area around the lips.
It is also a good idea to apply it close to the lips, as this will highlight the color of the lips.
If your lipstick is fading earlier than you would like or getting stuck in the fine lines, apply some concealer to your lips before applying the lipstick to get smoother looking lips.
4. How to apply concealer around the eyebrows
Did you know that you can use concealer to get perfect shaped eyebrows? Yes it is true! If you haven’t discovered this little secret yet, follow the steps below to get your best eyebrows!
First, fill in your eyebrows with your favorite eyebrow pencil or powder. After getting the shape you want, proceed to the next step.
Use a liquid concealer and a flat-tipped brush to apply the concealer around the eyebrows. Apply the concealer directly under the eyebrow in small spots or in a smooth line.
Spread the concealer towards the eyelids.
You can also apply the concealer on your eyebrows to define the arc and add definition to your look.
5. How to apply concealer to hide pimples
Acne and pimples can appear out of nowhere and, most uncomfortably, just before an important event. Even if you don’t have pimples very often, learning to use concealer to hide your pimples is important, as it is a very useful trick to stick on your sleeve.
First, clean your face and areas affected by pimples thoroughly before squeezing and moisturizing.
Don’t forget to apply a primer. This gives the concealer a basis to adhere to. Without a primer, the concealer can sit on the spine and make it unattractive.
If you are using your hands, clean them properly before applying the concealer on your spine. Apply a thin base coat on top. Take a damp sponge and smooth it until it is even and spray the area to fix the concealer in place.
6. How to apply concealer to hide dark spots
Dark spots and blemishes are a common skin problem. After all, most acne and pimples leave a scar that makes your skin look uneven and discolored. Concealers can help hide these areas. All you need to do is perform a few additional steps.
Makeup can easily get stuck in fine lines and scars. Therefore, apply a primer to the skin first.
Apply the primer, mix and check if the persistent stains are still visible and need to be hidden.
Do not use the same concealer that you use in the eye area, as it would be too light for your skin tone. Choose one that is a shade lighter than the base.
Apply concealer to the problem areas using the applicator or brush and mix well.
Lock the makeup by applying all the powder.
7. Frequently asked questions about using concealer
a. What goes first, base or corrective?
This is an endless debate and most makeup artists have their own way of using these two products. We believe it depends on each area of the face. When hiding dark circles, use concealer first, then foundation foundation and vice versa on other areas of the face.
b. How do I prepare my skin before applying makeup?
Regardless of your skin type, if you want your makeup to look flawless, it’s important to cleanse, tone and moisturize your skin. Then apply a primer to perfectly prepare your skin.
c. Ways to use the concealer for an impact appearance face
Concealer is the most versatile beauty product a girl can have. From covering dark circles and pimples to brightening your face, a proven tube of concealer will do anything. Despite all its great benefits, many women do not know how to use this product properly or end up taking full advantage. But don’t worry, ladies, we’re here to help.
d. Hide acne and blemishes
As the concealer has a thicker consistency than the base, it can be used as a local treatment for acne and blemishes. All you need to do is apply a little concealer to the area or stain you want to hide and dry with your finger or a damp makeup sponge. Follow the primer and you’re good to go
e. As a basis
For days when makeup looks a little too much, applying a small amount of concealer to some areas of the face can help a lot. Just prepare the face, apply the concealer under the eyes, around the mouth and nose and on spots or blemishes, and you will have a super light foundation, but without flaws
f. As a highlighter
Using a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than the normal concealer can help highlight your face. Just apply this concealer where you would normally place highlighting markers (the highlights of your face and under your eyebrows) for instant skin shine
g. Hiding acne scars
Acne scars can sometimes be very difficult to hide completely. However, using a green concealer can help you cover these acne scars like a charm. First, apply a green concealer to the acne scars to even out the redness. Then, use your usual concealer to hide the green color and give your face a perfect and uniform finish.

Marvel Imagine: Arachne (Named Reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The cars in the city let out a chorus of honks and blares, and I sighed in defeat as I stared at the wall. Three, two, one-
The alarm clock flicked on, bellowing out a loud and uncalled for screech as red numbers flashed ‘7:00 A.M.’ on the screen. Pressing my face into my pillow, I tried to not scream and die, before pushing myself up and over to the desk, seeing Peter had once again fell asleep with his homework out. Rolling my eyes, I patted his back.
“Wakey wakey.” I muttered, voice cracking with each syllable. Peter groans, and I open the closet, glancing at the clothes before pulling out a red and black striped sweater, black jeans, and blue socks. I shuffled out of the room and to the bathroom, passing my Aunt May who sat on the couch.
“Morning!” She chirped and I groan in reply, hearing her laugh as I shut the door.
Aunt May was a morning person, and that gene didn’t seem to rub off on me and peter. My little brother and myself, both moved into Aunt May’s home when we were just kids. I was a few years older, and I was graduating this year.
Dressing quickly, I brushed my hair, rolling my eyes as my bangs wouldn’t sit in the right place, always sticking out or up. I brushed my teeth and put on deodorant. Walking out, me and Peter traded places, bathroom for food.
Getting two eggs, a piece of toast, and glass of juice down, I was ready to leave. Packing up my bag, I put on my black converse shoes.
“Pete!” I yelled through the house, “Let’s go!”
He quickly came from the bathroom, dressed with his bag and everything. “Coming.” He replies and we said our goodbyes, leaving for the day.
Walking down the street, we didn’t really talk. We were both very tired from being out late last night.
No parties, as me and Peter aren’t the social type and I like to stick to myself mostly. However, the two of us are no longer ordinary people. On a field trip for a shared class, it seems we were both bitten by the same spider. I was bitten first, and when Peter was looking at my arm, I guess the Spider was still on me, and bit him as well. The next few days, we noticed instant changes. Peter was no longer skinny and bony; instead he was strong with slim but defined muscles. I was always a little full, but now what little muscles I had from yoga and small exercises at home, I had a fit body just like him. I was still curvy, but I was strong, healthier. My asthma was also gone. Our eyesight increased dramatically, to the point I can see dust in the air and intricate details on just about anything.
We were bitten by a spider, a genetically made spider, and now we had these weird powers.
Peter was the first to find out we could crawl around on the walls, but I seemed to have something Peter didn’t. While we shared the strength, speed, agility, and wall walking-I was able to change my skin color. I could become as white as snow, or black as night and every tone in between. I couldn’t change to red, or blue, but I was able to hide myself to the human eye on a white surface or conceal myself in total darkness. After doing research, we found it was the females who change colors, though their colors were yellow and white.
It was amazing, and with this new found information, Peter and I decided to try and make a difference.
Walking inside, I instantly noticed Tony Stark sitting on our couch, chatting up Aunt May. Furrowing my brow, Peter walks around me, music blasting in his ears.
“Uh
” I don’t know what to say, feeling conflicted as Tony looks over his shoulder at the both of us.
“Hello!” He sends me a charming smile and I hit Peter in the arm.
“Ow!” He utters, turning to me and takes out his earbuds. “What?” He looks and now both of us are looking at Tony as if he was Jesus.
“Mr. Parker,” Tony nods to Peter, then smiles at me, “Ms. Parker.”
“What are you doing
” I raised my eyebrows as I watched Peter try and keep it together. “Hey, I’m Peter.”
I waved, “Jae.”
“Tony.” He replies and I resist a ‘Yeah, I know.’
“What are you-you doing here?” I asked, running a hand through my messy hair.
“It’s bout time we met,” He nods, and May looks at us expectantly. “You two have been getting my emails, right?”
I glance at Peter, and we share a ‘what the fuck’ look. “Uh-Yeah.”
“Yes,” Peter nods, “Regarding the
”
May speaks up, “You two never told me about the grant!”
“The grant!” I smiled, nodding and crossing my arms over my chest. What the hell did Tony Stark want? What the hell was this grant?
“The September Foundation.”
“Right.” Peter nods.
“Yeah, you two applied?”
It was quiet before I nodded, “Yeah.”
“Well, I approved. So now, we’re in business.” Tony’s eyes are wide and unblinking before he takes a sip of whatever Aunt May had given him.
“You guys didn’t tell me anything!” I scratch my head, feeling guilty about something that I wasn't even apart of. Sorry Aunt May, I didn’t tell you about a grant I didn’t even know about. “You keeping secrets from me now?”
My eyes widen, “No, we just knew that-that
” I look at Peter and he laughs.
“You love surprises so we thought we would let you know
.” I clear my throat, “Anyway, what did I apply for?”
Tony nods, “That’s what I’m here to hash out.”
“Hash out.” I nod, and Tony smirks.
“It’s so hard for me to believe that she’s someone’s aunt.” I raised an eyebrow, frowning as Tony smiles brightly.
Aunt May doesn’t seem that impressed. “We come in all shapes and sizes, you know?”
“This walnut date loaf is exceptional!” Tony compliments and I itch my neck, feeling very uncomfortable.
“Okay, hold on a minute.” Peter holds up his hand. “Does this grant got money involved or whatever?”
“Yeah, it’s pretty well funded.” Tony draws and I nod.
“Wow.”
“Look who you're talking to.” Tony turns to Aunt May, “Can I have five minutes with them?”
We walk to our bedroom and Tony closes the door behind us and locks it before spitting out the date loaf.
“As walnut date loafs go, that wasn’t bad.” I snort, rolling my eyes as I sit in our chair at the desk.
“Okay, look I didn’t apply for your grant.” Peter starts but Tony cuts him off.
“I know, neither did you-” He points at me before pulling out his phone. “But me first!” He flicks it, “That’s the two of you...isn’t it?” It was video footage of Peter, swinging on his web and stopping a robber. Another of me appearing from the side of a building and webbing a guy to the side of a car. Another of Peter stopping a car from crashing into a bus. And me, crawling up a building before stopping, blending myself into the shadows. “Look at you two go.”
“That's-that’s...not me.” I shake my head, and Peter nods with me.
“You caught three thousand pounds, forty miles an hour and you!” He looks at me and I feel my face flush with his next compliment. “You camouflaging yourself!” He shrugs, “It’s not easy.”
“That’s on youtube so you know that’s fake right?” Peter comes to stand by me, as Stark walks towards the closet. I jump up as Stark takes a broom and lifts the latch to the attic that holds our costumes.
Mine was just a black tight fitting bodysuit while Peter’s was red and blue. Peter springs forward and throws it into the closet, and acts normal, leaning against the wall.
“Uh..that’s
” He sighs, looking at me and I shake my head. We’ve been caught.
“So,” Tony looks at both of us. “You two are the Spiderlings? Spider-boy? Spider-girl? Crime fighting spiders?”
I roll my eyes, “Spider-Man.”
Tony turns to me, “Spider-Woman?”
I shake my head, “I like Arachne.”
Tony hums, “Not in those onesies you're not.”
“S’not a onesie.” Peter sasses and comes to sit beside me. “Y’know, I was actually having a really good day today.”
“Found a perfectly good DVD player
” I chime in, running a hand through my hair, watching as Tony looked at our suits.
“Nailed my algebra test.”
“Who else knows?” Stark asks us, and I look at Peter, shaking my head.
“Nobody.”
“Not even your unusually attractive aunt?”
I groan, “No!”
“No! If she knew she’d freak out and when she freaks out everyone freaks out-”
I nod, “It’s a big freaking out.”
“You know what I think is amazing?” Tony holds up a vial of our webbing. “Who manufactured this?”
“I did.” Peter takes it and throws it into the closet.
“Climbing the walls? How you doing that. Adhesive gloves?”
I snort, “That’s uh...all us.”
“It’s a long story.” Peter says and Tony picks up the goggles we wear.
“Good lordy! Can you even see in these?” He holds then up to his face and I smile, shaking my head as Peter gets frustrated.
“Yes! Yes we can!” He takes it from Tony, throwing it in the closet. “Look, whatever happened that happened, it’s like our senses have been dialed to eleven. It just helps to focus...without all the input.”
“You are in dire need of an upgrade.” I furrow my brows, “That’s why I’m here. Sit, sit!” Peter sits back down and we both share a look before turning to Tony. “Why are you doing this?”
I glance at Peter, not really knowing how to answer that question. “C’mon, I gotta know what gets you outta that bed in the morning?”
“Because
” I start and sigh. “For me it’s...just about something bigger than me. A-and I know that’s very cliche but-if I can do something about a crime, I will, because someone has to.”
“We’ve had these powers for six months. Reading books and building computers was and still is us, and yeah I would love to play football and Jae would love to be in gymnastics but we couldn’t then so we shouldn’t now.” I nod and Tony agrees.
“Cause you're different.”
“Exactly.” Peter finishes and looks at me.
“We can’t tell anyone so we aren’t.”
“When you can do the things that we can...but you don’t...and then the bad things happen
” Peter looks at me and sighs. “They happen because of you.”
“So you wanna look out for the little guy and do your part-make the world a better place...all that right?”
I nod as Peter answers. “Yeah, just looking out for the little guy.” Tony sighs, and sits between us.
“You guys got passports?”
“No!” I shake my head, “I don’t even have a driver's license.”
“You ever been to Germany?”
I frown, “No?”
“You’ll love it!”
“We can’t go to Germany!” Peter says, laughing as he looks at me.
“Why?”
“Cause...we have
” I trailed off, looking at Peter who finishes my sentence.
“Homework.”
“Alright, I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that.” Tony gets up and walks towards the door.
“No, I’m being serious!”
“We can’t just drop everything and leave the country.” I say and Peter nods.
“Might be a little dangerous.” He grabs the door handle, “Better tell Aunt hotty.” Peter and I both jump up and Peter webs him. Tony snaps his head to us.
“Don’t tell Aunt May.”
--
Okay, to tell the truth, I wasn’t as excited as Peter to be apart of the Avengers. I didn’t dislike the people, but when I asked Stark why he needed us, he said it wasn’t my business. He said all I needed to know was that Captain America and Falcon were protecting a international terrorist and they were all dangerous to the world.
I didn’t believe it. Not for a million dollars would I ever say Captain America was a danger to the world. Granted, I didn’t know who this guy was, that needed protecting, but I didn’t feel comfortable with how easy it was for Tony and the others to just speak so little and low of our Nation's Hero, and a veteran. Our government was the worst, as usual. They treated the three like abominations, and that didn’t sit well with me.
I stood on one of the upper levels, Peter beside me. His suit was red and blue, but made of a fine material that was tight fitting and bulletproof. He had black webbing design in it, with a black spider at his chest. My suit was a pearl white, with black and silver webbing design. Our suits were somewhat styled the same, however my suit was able to change colors to match the surface I was on. Whatever color I needed to blend into, which was neat.
Peter was called down, and as excited as he was, he moved quickly and before me. He took Captain America’s shield, landing as a superhero.
“Hi, everyone...I’m Spider-Man.” I rolled my eyes and stayed where I was.
Peter was always awkward when he was nervous or excited to meet someone, and that included our world’s superheros.
The fight started faster than I thought it would.
“Mr. Stark, what do we do?” Peter asks and I roll my eyes again, moving quickly to a level lower.
“What we discussed,” I resisted a snarky comment. Stark didn’t discuss with us, he told us.
“Hey Pete, we got two in the building.” I jumped and swung past Peter as he headed into the building, following the two that Stark said were main targets.
“What is that thing?” I heard as I pressed myself close to the wall, my suit changing colors and I quickly crawled along it, following them. If Peter was in trouble, I’d jump in.
I watched in amusement as Peter webbed them to the ground, but something came from the air and suddenly he was taken through the window in the ceiling.
“You couldn’t have done that earlier?” The man with a metal arm groans and the other, Sam Wilson, simply replies, ‘I hate you’.
Laughing, I get both of their attention. Letting go, I land on all fours between them.
“Another one?” Sam asks and I huff.
“Hey! Words hurt.” I stand, placing my hands on my hips. Both look at me, surprised to hear I was a girl. Rolling my eyes, I cross my arms.
“What do you want?”
“The truth.” I respond, glancing at the metal arm man. I press my finger to a spot by my ear, disabling my speaker and communications to the team. Knowing Stark could probably override that, I slipped the mask from my face. Shaking out my hair I sighed, blinking before looking at the two. “I don’t agree with how Stark and the government are handling things. I don’t know you, but I think after defending our country both you and Captain America wouldn’t ever turn against us.” I say to Sam, before glancing at the other. I frowned, he looked very familiar. “I will let you out, and I’ll help.” I shifted my weight, “If you’ll have me.”
Sam looks at the other, who’s name I still don’t know. It was quiet before Sam nods.
“Sure, lets us loose.”
Walking over I got the web off, stepping away and watched them brush themselves off.
“Okay, so the quinjet thingy is that way.” I pointed in the direction they had been running. “Um, I’ll follow behind and keep hidden, but if ya come into trouble I go you.” They nod and I hurry off, webbing others on my original team in secret. I either hit their weapons, webbed their toes to trip them or made the ground sticky.
“Jae!” I heard Peter yell as I webbed his foot to the ground. “What’s wrong with you?!” He yells and I ignore him. I don’t hear the other’s on our side, as I turned off my communications. Leaping up, I crawled onto the giant ant man’s back, shooting webs at the one’s flying around. Seeing Steve and Bucky making a run for it, I see Black Panther running for them. I leap off Ant-Man, landing in a roll before I run after the Black Panther. Trip him, but before I could make it to the two soldiers, I was hit. The pain was instant, as my suit told me I was a few broken ribs. I pushed myself up, feeling pain as I took quick breathes. My heart raced as I turned to see a bright yellow beam cutting through the building. But soon dust pooled in the air, blocking my view.
Standing, I slowly made my way to the group. Seeing Hawkeye and the others practically beaten as I see the Quinjet flying off. I gasp as hot electricity is coursing through me, making my knees buckle and my body freeze and jerk.
I fall, body sore and muscles constricting as Black Widow walks around me.
Glaring at her, I try to push myself up, but she hits me again with her weapon.
I try to move, but soon darkness takes me.
-
*Flash Back to Before Battle
I sit in the chair, “Why do I need to do this?” I asked, hands on my hip as I swerve the chair back and forth. Stark looks at me through the lens.
“Just in case we have to stay longer than normal, or if you get taken.”
I raised an eyebrow, wanted to comment but I shake my head. “Fine.”
I look into the camera, smiling as if I was looking at Aunt May and really excited. I knew what I needed to say. “Hi Aunt May! I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be home soon! They internship is great! I was offered a spot here, no expenses for you-they took care of everything. I’m very excited and I’ll get a hold of you soon. I love you Aunt May, see ya later.” I gave her a smile before seeing the red dot disappear.
I dropped my smile, standing up. “Mr. Stark? Are you putting us in danger? Will they hold back? I only ask because Peter and I are not trained for this. You’re low on numbers, and I get that. With us you have surprise, but still.”
He smirks, “You’ll be fine. They’re against us now but they won’t hurt you.”
I nod.
“Okay, sweet.”
*End
I groaned as I opened my eyes, seeing a cell around me. I frowned, looking around. Standing, I found I was in an ugly grey and blue jumpsuit. One for prisoners. I patted myself, feeling for anything that belonged to me.
I looked around, feeling like the blank walls were closing me in.
“Hey! Spider kid! Girl!” I turned, hearing a voice from the left calling me.
“You keep hyperventilating like that you’ll pass out.” I press myself the bars, looking through the glass.
“Who are you?” I ask, not able to see the cell beside. “Why am I here?”
“You helped us,” I look over, seeing Sam Wilson, the Falcon. “Widow took you out.”
I sighed, hanging my head. “Jesus.”
I look around, at the cells I could see. Sam was leaning against the wall, looking at the floor in thought. The man I didn’t know, but he was with the others so I suppose it was Ant Man. Then I saw something that broke my heart. Scarlet Witch, on the floor with a straight jacket on and a collar around her neck. She looked dead, her eyes were so dull. It broke my heart. I knew Hawkeye was beside me. I sighed, resting my head against the bar, making a loud ringing thud.
“I’m sorry.” I said after a moment of silence. “I didn’t know what Mr. Stark was talking about, he wouldn’t tell us anything about it. He said you all were a danger, and he needed our help. My brother was too quick to jump in, he loves you guys, the avengers. But I-I’m sorry. I never had a good feeling about it to begin with.”
Sam gives me a small smile, “I’m glad you helped us when you did. Cap and Barnes wouldn’t have made it out without you.”
I nod, not saying anything more. I look up when I hear a small sound. I try to look at the doors, but I can’t see them, they are to my right. They open and I gasp as Captain America walks in. He goes to Sam, and I see Barnes come in as well. He spots me, and walks over.
“I’m so glad to see you guys.” He gives me a half smile, and I wonder if it’s fake but I’m out of the cell before I can really stare at him. Once everyone is out, we follow them to the Quinjet, and I pause when I see Black Panther is here. I glance at Sam, who shrugs and sits down. I feel out of place, because I know I’m not even an avenger. I looked around with a small sigh, I just want to go home.

Margaret’s Summer Product Diary
MORNING
I wake up at around 8:00 am, which, to paraphrase the president, is my personal Vietnam. I feed my plump cat, Clementine (catnip banana for scale), and then head into the bathroom, screaming at my Google Home to play my shower jams playlist. I drink a full bottle of water while waiting for the shower to get hot.
Tumblr media
First I wash my hair with Drybar Blonde Ale Brightening Shampoo; it’s violently purple and helps neutralize the brassy tones from bleaching my naturally brown hair. I follow up with Rita Hazan Ultimate Shine Gloss in Breaking Brass. Both of these products are a bit drying, so once a week I use Rita Hazan Weekly Remedy Treatment. This two-step conditioner is the shit. My hair has never felt so soft and healthy – I was forcing coworkers to touch it all day after my first use.
I cleanse my chest and back with the Body Shop’s Tea Tree Skin Clearing Body Wash (hooray for sweaty summer breakouts), and wash my face with Ole Henriksen Oil Control Cleanser.
Tumblr media
When I get out of the shower I wrap my hair in an old t-shirt, because the internet told me to. I immediately apply La Neige Lip Sleeping Mask to my perpetually chapped lips.
I start my skincare with Belif Hydra Sebum Control Essence. It smells delicious, and I like patting it on, but it doesn’t really control oil that much. Then I apply a couple drops of The Ordinary’s Salicylic Acid 2% Solution all over my face.
As you can see in my picture, I have a lot of hyperpigmentation due to sun exposure when I was an idiot teenager. I’m currently on the hunt for a vitamin C serum, suggestions welcome!
The salicylic acid is topped off with a very thin layer (like, a pea-sized amount for my whole face) of Belif Aqua Bomb because it’s hot and I turn into a greasy swamp monster with anything heavier. It smells just as good as the essence.
IT ME.
Tumblr media
Okay, skincare’s done! On to makeup. I refill my water bottle. Drinking 32 ounces of water every morning has
 maybe helped my skin?
I smooth on CoverFX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment, which provides a great smooth base and also mattifies and provides even more salicylic acid to incinerate zits.
On my eyelids, brow bone, under-eye and cheekbone I apply CoverFX Illuminating Primer; I got it as a sample but I’m way too ~naturally dewy~ to use it all over. It provides a very subtle glow to the eye area and plays well under eyeshadow. In the summer, I use it in lieu of eye cream during the day.
I use Tarte BB Tinted Treatment Primer as foundation. I want to use this the rest of my life: it’s mattifying, pore-minimizing, covers quite well, AND has SPF. It should be called a foundation, not a primer, TBH.
Why yes, I DO use three primers. I’m a prime bitch.
A couple dark marks are still visible, so I dot on Nars Creamy Concealer in Custard (not pictured). I’ll set all that with Too Faced Peach Perfect Setting Powder, which actually smells like peaches, and tastes very nice if you get some in your mouth. I do blush and bronzer after setting powder because otherwise it makes me look washed out.
Then I apply blush (Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Paaaarty, which was the Sephora birthday gift last year, and it is Fine), and contour a bit with a matte bronzer (Benefit Hoola, also a sample). (Blend that fucking neck!!!!)
To finish off my facial canvas, I sweep Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Hu$tla Baby on my cheekbones and orbital area. I am now Rihanna.
Tumblr media
This is exhausting.
Most days I use Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette; today I’ve used a pretty rose gold shade from it. I then do a small cat eye using Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner; when I’m dead, I want tattoo liners scattered on my grave every Christmas. I follow up with Too Faced Better Than Pizza Sex Mascara, which is fine but not really worth the hype to me? Again, it was a sample. I subscribe to Sephora Play and use whatever mascara they send every couple of months.
Side note: I seem to have a lot of Too Faced in my routine, but somehow did not pay for any of it.
The last step in my makeup regimen is also my least favorite: brows. I have sparse brows that seem to grow straight down. Using an eyeliner brush & small strokes, I apply ELF Eyebrow Kit gel in Light. I try not to make my brows too dark, and follow up with Benefit’s Gimme Brow.
Tumblr media
All this time, my hair has been air drying. I got a keratin treatment a couple months ago, but it’s starting to wear off, which means my not-so-luscious locks are starting to get puffy and frizzy again. I attempt to smooth things a bit with IGK’s Mistress Hydrating Hair Balm, and then blast my roots with the blow dryer. I end up twisting my hair into a topknot to ensure it looks really horrible later.
Finally, I brush my teeth and dab on Nars Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil in Cruella, a bright red that looks like a rosy lip stain if used sparingly.
Here I am! I don’t know how to pose?!
Tumblr media
FINALLYYYYYYY, at 9:00ish, I go to work. I am a sweaty swamp monster from the second I enter the subway station.
MIDDAY
Blot blot blot blot blot with those toilet seat protector things. It’s the only decent ~life hack~ I’ve seen on Buzzfeed.
Makeup is holding up well, aside from lipstick (I forgot to bring it to reapply) and hair looks less terrible than expected. I drink 3-4 bottles of water at work.
Tumblr media
EVENING
I leave the office around 7:00 pm. During warmer months I walk about 2 miles home through Central Park. It’s the most beautiful and relaxing commute, but the downside is I arrive home with a wicked case of boob sweat.
I throw my hair into a bun and hop into the shower again to cleanse my body and soul of sweat and general NYC grossness. While I’m in there I wash my face with the same Ole Henriksen Oil Control Cleanser.
Clementine guards me whilst I bathe.
Tumblr media
After showering, I lube my body up with Eucerin. While that soaks in, I stand naked in the middle of the apartment and get stoned.
Before bed, I remove any lingering eye makeup with a couple drops of The Ordinary’s Moroccan Argan Oil (not pictured), and use a cotton ball to apply The Ordinary’s Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. This toner RULES, and is frequently sold out, because it is a HUGE bottle and only eight goddamn dollars, and a dupe for Glossier’s toner.
Continuing on The Ordinary train, I pat-pat-pat a few drops of Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 into my face, and follow up with The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 2% serum. Niacinamide is great for treating acne, but isn’t in a lot of products yet. It’s anti-inflammatory and this serum can be worn under makeup.
Once again I apply Belif’s Aqua Bomb and then smear on Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream. It’s kind of greasy, but I believe eye cream is a scam and refuse to spend money on it. Samples only for this gal. I’m so fiscally responsible!
Tumblr media
After all this is complete, I brush my teeth, braid my hair and get in bed at about 10:30. Goodnight!

Best of 2019: The 49 Beauty Products That I Loved Most This Year (Makeup, Haircare and More)
Now that you're up to speed on my favourite facial skincare of 2019, it's time to share the rest—all the makeup, haircare, hair tools and bath and body products that I used and loved this year.
The Best Beauty Products of 2019
Best Primer
Tumblr media
REN Perfect Canvas Clean Primer
I don't use primer that often, but when I do, I reach for REN Perfect Canvas Clean Primer. I love that it's silicone-free, feels fresh on your skin and helps to mattify the T-zone a little bit. The ILIA True Skin Radiant Priming Serum is also great, but perhaps a tad more prone to pilling.
Best Sheer Foundation (Liquid)
Tumblr media
Sappho New Paradigm Essential Foundation
I've never found a liquid foundation that I like better than Sappho New Paradigm Essential Foundation. (I wear the shade Leisha.) I hate the feel of most foundations on my skin, but not this one. It's super light, with sheer coverage that's buildable to a medium. I'm obsessed with the clean ingredients, fresh scent, and how it's virtually undetectable on your skin. You need to try it!
Best Sheer Foundation (Cream)
Tumblr media
RMS Beauty "Un" Cover-Up
On a day-to-day basis, I almost always wear RMS Beauty "Un" Cover-Up in shade 00. It's a hybrid concealer and sheer foundation, and I just find it easy and quick to use—and so natural-looking on my skin. (See my application tips here!) I love that it's made with all-natural oils, which have never once broken me out.
Best High-Coverage Foundation
Tumblr media
RMS Beauty "Un" Cover-Up Cream Foundation
I'm not a full-coverage or even medium-coverage foundation person, but I've been testing out the new RMS Beauty "Un" Cover-Up Cream Foundation. If you like a really perfected skin look, this dense cream does the job without looking mask-like on the skin. I just find it leans a little more yellow than the original "Un" Cover-Up.
Best Tinted Moisturizer
Tumblr media
Omorovicza Complexion Perfector
Even though I only wear it in the summer, since the shades run a bit dark for me, the Omorovicza Complexion Perfector is probably the best tinted moisturizer formula I've tried to date. It's silicone-free, lightweight, and gives good light coverage (more than the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue, my other favourite).
Best BB/CC Cream
Tumblr media
Sappho New Paradigm CC Cream
Just like the brand's Foundation, Sappho New Paradigm CC Cream feels light and fresh on your skin. I think this one is best for oilier types, as it has more of a semi-matte finish. Despite the mousse-like texture, I'd describe the coverage level as light. The Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream, which I also wore quite a bit, is much more sheer and dewy.
Best Foundation Brush
Tumblr media
RMS Beauty Skin2Skin Foundation Brush
The right foundation brush can make the difference between a streaky application and a flawless one. The best I've found is RMS Beauty Skin2Skin Foundation Brush, which I usually use with "Un" Cover-Up, but also works with liquid formulas. Something about the bristles buffs the product into your skin so it looks super natural!
Best Concealer
Tumblr media
W3ll People Bio Correct Multi-Action Concealer
I've long been searching for a high-coverage, opaque concealer like Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer, but with more natural ingredients. I finally found it in W3ll People Bio Correct Multi-Action Concealer (and not a moment too soon, because Make Up For Ever just discontinued my shade!). The only problem is it does tend to separate and go watery after a few months, so I'll have to keep buying replacements. For that reason, Make Up For Ever, along with Sappho New Paradigm, Glossier and Surratt Beauty were also in my concealer rotation this year.
Best Concealer Brush
Tumblr media
Kevyn Aucoin The Concealer Brush
The secret to concealing spots and blemishes is a tiny brush—that way, your concealer is only going on the discolouration, not the surrounding skin. I swear by Kevyn Aucoin The Concealer Brush.
Best Powder
Tumblr media
ILIA Soft Focus Finishing Powder
To set my makeup and tame any excess shine (especially when I use "Un" Cover-Up), I love ILIA Soft Focus Finishing Powder. This is a cornstarch-based translucent powder that does a great job of mattifying, but doesn't leave your skin dried out or weirdly slippery, like pure silica powders can. It's also silicone-free and talc-free.
Best Cream Blush
Tumblr media
Lilah B. Divine Duo Lip & Cheek
After trying and loving their Lip Balms, I bought a few shades of Lilah B. Divine Duo Lip & Cheek this year, and they're equally good. Although the ingredients are not as natural as the RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek collection (which I also wore a lot), the colours, texture and finish are beautiful. I also still use the Olio E Osso Balms (reviewed here).
Best Powder Blush
Tumblr media
RMS Beauty Pressed Blush
It had been a while since I was wowed by a powder blush, until Rose-Marie Swift herself painted my face with RMS Beauty Pressed Blush back in the spring. I never would have chosen the shade Mooncry for my fair skin, but it creates a gorgeous realistic flush that will work on any skin tone (just vary the intensity of your application).
Best Bronzer
Tumblr media
RMS Beauty Buriti Bronzer
For bronzer, I find creams look a lot more natural than powders, so I like RMS Beauty Buriti Bronzer for a sun-kissed glow. I also use RMS Beauty Contour Bronze, which is a little deeper and more brown-toned. With both, I just brush them across my nose and cheeks—I never contour!
Best Blush Brush
Tumblr media
RMS Beauty Skin2Skin Blush Brush
I used to apply cream blushes and bronzers with my fingers, but the RMS Beauty Skin2Skin Blush Brush has made such a difference. You get a much more light and even diffusion of colour.
Best Luminizer
Tumblr media
RMS Beauty Living Luminizer
For me, the OG luminizer, RMS Beauty Living Luminizer, is still the best for my skin tone. (And when I met Rose-Marie, she confirmed that it's my perfect shade.) This stuff always gives my skin a healthy sheen that doesn't look like makeup.
Best Freckle Pen
Tumblr media
Freck OG The Original Freckle
I first heard about Freck OG The Original Freckle when the product was still in development, and have wanted one ever since! I finally got my hands on a tube in 2019, and I have to say, it really is the best for creating faux freckles. The only catch is that you need to take your time with it. When I'm in a rush and I still want that cute sun-kissed look, I use Stila All Day Waterproof Brow Color in the shade Light.
Best Eyeshadow
Tumblr media
Kosas 10-Second Liquid Eyeshadow
The shade range needs expanding, but I was really impressed with Kosas 10-Second Liquid Eyeshadow this year. Even though it's a clean formula, it doesn't crease or slide around, and you can easily blend it with your fingers. I just think they need more neutrals, because I only like the shades Globe (champagne) and Astronaut (silver), and the latter is only available in the Mixed Metals Trio. In addition to this brand, I also wore a lot of RMS Beauty Eye Polish (evidently I've been more into cream eyeshadows than powders).
Best Eyeliner
Tumblr media
Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner
In 2019, I started feeling like all my eyeliners were looking too dark and harsh—even the browns. But it's not so easy finding lighter shades! Fortunately, a random Internet comment led me to Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Lionfish. It's a metallic bronze, and a great choice for people with light skin, eyes and hair.
Lash Serum
Tumblr media
neuLASH Lash Enhancing Serum
After finishing my last bottle of Latisse, I switched to neuLASH Lash Enhancing Serum this year. I don't think the results are as dramatic, but I think it does the job just fine!
Best Eyelash Curler
Tumblr media
Kevyn Aucoin The Eyelash Curler
I switched from Shu Uemura to the Kevyn Aucoin The Eyelash Curler, and it seems to fit my eyes better. It always captures all my lashes, never pulls or pinches, and the curl has a nice, gentle curve and is long-lasting.
Best Mascara
Tumblr media
Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara
I hate looking in the mirror mid-day and seeing mascara smudged under my eyes, so now I only use tubing formulas that won't budge. Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara is the ultimate—a shiny, jet-black formula that volumizes and lengthens without clumping, and stays put until you want to remove it (with just warm water).
Best Brow Mascara
Tumblr media
Glossier Boy Brow
I don't know if I've found the perfect brow mascara yet, but the one I used the most in 2019 was Glossier Boy Brow in Blond. I like the colour, which has the right amount of ashiness; I just wish it had more hold. Truthfully, I want to go back to Maybelline Brow Drama, but I can never find it here in Canada in Blonde (even though it's still on the brand website).
Best Tinted Lip Balm
Tumblr media
Lanolips Rose Gold 101 Ointment
I have a million tinted lip balms, so it's hard to pick a favourite, but I probably wore Lanolips Rose Gold 101 Ointment the most. You get all the healing benefits of lanolin with a flattering, warm pinky-red tint. But there are so many others I love, too: Kosas, Lilah B., Henné Organics (reviewed here), Dior, French Girl (reviewed here), Cocokind, Tata Harper (reviewed here), Olio E Osso (reviewed here) and COOLA (reviewed here).
Best Colour-Adjusting Lip Balm
Tumblr media
Buxom Powerplump Lip Balm
The new Buxom Powerplump Lip Balm is the best colour-adjusting lip product I've tried (and I've tried a few—remember when they used to be a big thing?). Because it's in a balm, it doesn't dry your lips out like its predecessors. On my lips, it turns into a pretty sheer rose shade, which suits me perfectly because I don't like to look too lipsticky. When I want a brighter pink, another good one is the Winky Lux Flower Balm.
Best Lipstick
Tumblr media
Kosas Weightless Lip Color Lipstick
Just like I stopped wearing dark eyeliner, I'm also in a no-lipstick phase lately. Most of them just feel like too much—except for Kosas Weightless Lip Color Lipstick. The three lightest shades are the closest thing to "your lips, only better." My favourite is Stardust!
Best Lip Liner
Tumblr media
RMS Beauty Lip Liner
I rarely wear lip liner because I prefer my lip colour to look dabbed on, not so precise. But sometimes I like to build up my thinner top lip a bit with RMS Beauty Lip Liner in the shade Nighttime Nude (reviewed here). It's the perfect match for my lip tone, and it has a lot of "grip."
Best Shampoo
Tumblr media
Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizing Shampoo
I wash my hair daily, and Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizing Shampoo was my shampoo of choice in 2019. It's clear (not creamy), so it doesn't weigh my fine hair down, and it's sulfate-free.
Best Conditioner
Tumblr media
Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizing Conditioner
I also used the matching Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizing Conditioner, which is silicone-free. It's fairly light, so I think it's best for fine hair that doesn't need a lot of detangling.
Best Comb
Tumblr media
Mason Pearson Rake Comb
Out of the shower, I comb out my hair using the Mason Pearson Rake Comb. Supposedly, this is for "very thick, curly or tightly permed hair," and mine is none of those things. But I like it because it's so gentle on wet hair.
Best Brush
Tumblr media
Mason Pearson Junior Mixture Nylon & Boar Bristle Hair Brush
I'm still using my trusty Mason Pearson Junior Mixture Nylon & Boar Bristle Hair Brush (reviewed here) to brush my dry hair. I've had this brush for more than a decade, so that's how well it holds up!
Best Heat-Protecting Spray
Tumblr media
Philip Kingsley Perfecting Primer
Usually, I let my hair air-dry, but when I do use a blowdryer, I protect my hair from the heat with the Philip Kingsley Perfecting Primer. It doesn't have the cleanest ingredients (I'm still on the hunt for a more natural version), but I like that it leaves my hair soft and full of body.
Best Volumizing Spray
Tumblr media
Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizing Spray
For a little lift at the roots, I've been using Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizing Spray. I love the ingredients, and it doesn't feel like you've got product in your hair.
Best Hairdryer
Tumblr media
T3 PROi Professional Hair Dryer
I'm pretty sure the T3 PROi Professional Hair Dryer is being discontinued soon, but it sure has served me well these last few years! I've always trusted this brand's hairdryers because they last forever and never damage your hair. This is the best dryer I've ever owned, so I can't wait to see what they replace it with!
Best Flat Iron
Tumblr media
Drybar The Tress Press
Meanwhile, the best flat iron I've ever owned is Drybar The Tress Press. I use this daily to touch up my bangs and the ends of my hair, and it takes literally two minutes. It never creates dents and always glides smoothly through my hair.
Best Dry Shampoo
Tumblr media
Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Biotin Dry Shampoo
After looking for a cleaner, non-aerosol alternative to Dove, I settled on Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Biotin Dry Shampoo this year. It's not perfect (the packaging sucks), but I feel like it's a lot better for my scalp and the environment!
Best Texturizing Spray
Tumblr media
Playa Endless Summer Spray
For creating beachy texture, I bought Playa Endless Summer Spray, and I like it well enough. It's made with natural ingredients like sea salt and aloe vera, and isn't super moisturizing, which is a plus in my books. (I find some beach sprays weigh my hair down too much.)
Best Body Wash
Tumblr media
REN Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Anti-Fatigue Body Wash
REN Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Anti-Fatigue Body Wash was my main shower gel this year, and I love the jelly texture and spa-like scent.
Best Body Scrub
Tumblr media
Indie Lee Coconut Citrus Scrub
Every few days, I buff away dry skin in the shower with Indie Lee Coconut Citrus Scrub (reviewed here). Not only are the ingredients all-natural, but it's so moisturizing, you can get away without body lotion.
Best Acid Exfoliant for Body
Tumblr media
Paula's Choice Clear Acne Body Spray
I invested in Paula's Choice Clear Acne Body Spray to prevent sweat-induced body breakouts in the summertime. The spray makes it easy to reach your back, and it has two percent salicylic acid in a fast-absorbing liquid (so you can get dressed right away).
Best Body Lotion
Tumblr media
Odacité Perfect Nutrients Body Lotion
I'm the pickiest person when it comes to body moisturizers, because there's so much product being absorbed over a large surface area—so the ingredients need to be top-notch. OdacitĂ© Perfect Nutrients Body Lotion is basically perfect, because it's a blend of aloe vera, coconut oil, glycerin and jojoba oil. If you need more moisture, I'd layer a body oil on top.
Best Body Oil
Tumblr media
Monoï Tiki Tahiti Huile Parfumée
When I want to transport myself to the tropics, I slather on some Monoï Tiki Tahiti Huile Parfumée, a fragrant monoï oil made the traditional way by steeping tiare flowers in coconut oil. Otherwise, I just use plain Kopari Coconut Melt.
Best Body Sunscreen
Tumblr media
Love Sun Body Natural Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 Fragrance-Free
The body sunscreen I was most impressed with this year was Love Sun Body Natural Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 Fragrance-Free. It's waterproof, silicone-free and 100 percent natural, with 20.4 percent zinc oxide as the active ingredient. And unlike most mineral SPFs, it's not whitening at all (even on darker skin)! You could use it on your face as well, it's just a little on the dewy side.
Best Deodorant
Tumblr media
Schmidt's Ylang-Ylang + Calendula Natural Deodorant
For deodorant, the formula (and scent) I like best is Schmidt's Ylang-Ylang + Calendula Natural Deodorant. Great ingredients and it works!
Best Fragrance
Tumblr media
Lush Sikkim Girls
If you're a long-time reader, you might remember me gushing about Lush Sikkim Girls back in the day, when it first launched. I don't know why I ever stopped wearing it, but this year I went back to it and realized it's the closest thing I have to a signature scent. It's frangipani and other white florals, but mixed with incense and vanilla. Very feminine, natural and Bohemian. I adore it!
Best Nail Buffer
Tumblr media
Revlon Crazy Shine Nail Buffer
If you don't have the time or inclination a manicure, Revlon Crazy Shine Nail Buffer is the best thing ever. It makes your nails so shiny, it looks like you're wearing clear nail polish!
Best Nail Polish
Tumblr media
Nails Inc. NailKale Nail Illuminator
I love a sheer pearly nail polish, like Nails Inc. NailKale Nail Illuminator, which I wore all through 2019. Unfortunately, it now seems to be discontinued... hopefully they bring it back!
Best Hand Lotion
Tumblr media
Lano Coconutter Hand Cream Intense
Just like lanolin has healed my chapped lips, it's also made a difference for my hands. I love all the Lano hand creams, especially Lano Coconutter Hand Cream Intense because it smells like coconut. And it doesn't leave you greasy!
Best Cuticle Cream/Foot Cream
Tumblr media
Lansinoh Lanolin Cream
I also use Lansinoh Lanolin Cream, which is a 100 percent lanolin ointment, to moisturize dry cuticles and even feet. It also doubles as a lip balm. (If you want cuter packaging, get the Lanolips 101 Ointment!)
Best Foot Peel
Tumblr media
Baby Foot Exfoliation Foot Peel
Every couple months or so, I do a deep exfoliation using Baby Foot Exfoliation Foot Peel (reviewed here). If you're prone to calluses and thickened skin on your heels, nothing is more effective at getting it off!

01/6The ultimate make-up guide for people who wear glasses
Spectacles never go out of style. There a number of styles, shapes and colours of spectacles available, suitable for every face structure. They have become a style statement in themselves. However, sometimes, no matter how much time you spend on your makeup every morning, it just does not come through the way you expected it to after you put on your glasses. Here are a few tips to ace the makeup game when you have to wear your specs.
readmore
02/6Use an eyelash curler
Try ditching the mascara and opt for only curling your lashes with an eyelash curler. This will give the same illusion of bigger eyes through your specs. However, if you have to use mascara, focus only on the roots of your lashes.
readmore
03/6Make your brows stand out
Brows can make or break your look, irrespective of whether you wear glasses or not. It becomes even more important when you have your specs hiding half your brows. Make sure you keep your eyebrows well-shaped. Also, fill your eyebrows a little to give a fuller look. Having well-kept brows brings the entire look of the face together.
readmore
04/6Do not apply too much product on your nose
The biggest problem for people who wear glasses is the sweat in the region around the nose. This may lead to your makeup coming off. This is mainly because you have applied a lot of foundation. It will be better if you apply only a thin layer, especially on the bridge of the nose. One way of making sure you do not have too much product on your skin is to press a beauty blender across your nose to lift any excess product. Do not forget to use some setting powder at the end.
readmore
05/6Lighten your undereye with some concealer
Opposite to popular belief, specs to do hide dark circles under your eye. In fact, the shadow cast by the glasses may make it worse. Therefore, it is advisable to use a brightening concealer under your eyes. It will help brighten the under-eye region and compensate for the shadow of the glasses. If you have a lot of dark circles it is also advisable to use a colour corrector before the concealer for a cleaner look.
readmore
06/6Try a bold lip
Make-up is all about balance. With the minimal make-up around your eyes and nose, you now have the liberty to experiment with a bold lip. You can try a bold red or burgundy lip. To spice things up a little more, you can also go for an ombre lip. A bold lip colour will go a long way in bringing the entire look together without making the makeup look dull and tired.
