The distribution of the housing backlog varies across the country. Regions such as the National Capital Region (NCR) and Region IV-A have a higher backlog due to increased population density and rapid urbanization. These regions also have a higher incidence of informal settlers, further exacerbating the housing problem. The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA), Inc. is the leading industry association for housing and urban development in the Philippines. Established in 1970, the association has provided quality housing solutions for Filipino families for over half a century. It has been committed to developing livable and affordable communities that promote the well-being of its residents. Join us in exploring the role of SHDA in addressing the housing backlog in the Philippines. The Housing Debate: Immigration's Role in Rising Costs?
Senator JD Vance recently pointed fingers at undocumented immigration as a major factor driving up home prices, but is that really the case? While it's true immigration can increase housing demand, research indicates it's only a sliver of the puzzle. Construction lags, pandemic-driven demand, and interest rate trends play far larger roles. Plus, many immigrants rent rather than buy. Let's discuss: How do immigration and housing policies intersect, and what's truly behind our affordability crisis? What solutions should we focus on? Share your thoughts!

Navigating Canada's Housing Challenge: A Global Workforce Perspective
Introduction:
The surge in immigration to Canada has undoubtedly played a role in the housing shortage currently affecting both long-time residents and newcomers alike. While a direct link between increased immigration and the housing crunch remains unconfirmed, it's evident that the nation is facing a housing demand that surpasses available supply, leading to soaring costs.
Affordability Conundrum:
Escalating rental and property prices threaten to push housing out of reach for many who could have comfortably afforded it in the past. Some Canadians attribute this affordability gap to immigration and are rethinking policies for employing new labour, yet reports indicate that the primary drivers of these price hikes may  be mounting construction costs. These costs are, in turn, largely influenced by a scarcity of skilled labor and inadequate supplies of essential raw materials, among other factors.
Balancing Act:
The growing disparity between skilled laborers and retirees has resulted in a scenario where potential employees are now demanding higher salaries due to increased job opportunities. In response, the government is actively looking to immigration as a means to address this pressing labor shortage.
A Global Workforce Solution:
Canada has set its sights on welcoming approximately 500,000 permanent residents annually by 2025, recognizing that the solution lies in recruiting a diverse, global workforce to fill this void. Housing and healthcare are two critical areas of concern for the Canadian government, and by bringing in skilled workers from around the world, the shortage can potentially be alleviated.
Empowering Women and Skilled Labor:
Acknowledging the pressing need for affordable housing, top authorities are grappling with approval processes and supply chain challenges that hinder housing projects. One innovative solution involves actively involving more women in the workforce and recruiting both existing and new skilled laborers into the supply chain, particularly for new housing construction projects. This approach seeks to not only meet the surging demand but also contribute to lowering housing prices, ultimately alleviating pressure on the existing, limited housing stock.
Conclusion:
Navigating Canada's housing challenge requires a multi-faceted approach that addresses immigration, labor shortages, and supply chain hurdles. By tapping into a global workforce, actively involving women, and prioritizing skilled labor, Canada can take significant strides towards achieving housing affordability for all its residents, both old and new. Please be aware that the process of handling new labor applications can be time-intensive. For all your immigration requirements, feel free to contact Visamint Overseas Services. Wishi Rishi
In the damp halls of Westminster, Rishi doth declare,
A kitchen sink manifesto, promises thin as air.
With pledges vast and hopes contrived,
Yet will it cut through? Few are convinced or revived.
First, to taxes, where illusions lie,
A 2p cut in national insurance, a fleeting sigh.
Income tax for pensioners, a token nod,
Child benefit expansion, a convenient facade.
To education, 'Mickey Mouse' degrees to scrap,
Free childcare, a hollow gift in parents' lap.
In defence, national service for the youth,
An outdated notion, far from the truth.
Defence spending targets for 2030's light,
Promises to bolster, but who believes the sight?
Welfare reforms, twelve billion saved,
Austerity's mask, by new rules engraved.
GPs relieved of sick notes’ chore,
Shifting burdens, nothing more.
Crime's grand plan, eight thousand strong,
Police numbers touted, a familiar song.
Sentences increased, a harsher line,
First and second degree murder, a borrowed design.
Housing hopes with stamp duty's cease,
Up to £425k, a temporary peace.
No-fault evictions to end, they say,
Green belts protected, but for how long, who can say?
Immigration caps, work visas in the fray,
Family reunions slowed, a cynical play.
Illegal routes, Rwanda's talk renewed,
Third countries’ deals, a policy skewed.
ECHR reforms, all options in jest,
Health investments, a strained NHS.
£2.4bn for training, a short-term fix,
Waiting lists to shorten, with AI in the mix.
Social care's echo, Boris’s old tale,
A delayed package, destined to fail.
Net zero claims, with costs to veil,
Promises made, but will they prevail?
Thus, Rishi stands with grand façade,
A nation’s scepticism, the unspoken nod.
Will these pledges sway the day?
Or dissolve like mist at dawn’s first ray?

The housing backlog in the Philippines is a pressing issue, deeply intertwined with the country's socioeconomic fabric. The demand for affordable housing significantly outweighs the supply, leading to a backlog that was expected to reach 6.57 million units in 2022. This figure is not just a statistic; it represents millions of Filipino families lacking access to decent and affordable housing. The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA), a leading industry association in the Philippines, is dedicated to forging livable and affordable communities through sustainable nation-building. As architects and real estate developers, we must investigate the intricacies of this issue and explore how we can contribute to solving this problem. As winter approaches and temperatures dip below freezing, New York City's public housing population – roughly the size of Boston – continue to face the uncertainty of how the city will fund the Housing Authority's $30+ billion in needed repairs, including heating, elevators, lead, pests, and mold. (The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) offers housing for lower-income New Yorkers – the average rent is currently $533 a month with a waitlist of over 180,000 families.) In a recent Gotham Gazette op-ed, Professor Nicholas Bloom advocates for transferring air rights from NYCHA developments for cash, as proposed by @Regionalplan. With a simple zoning amendment, NYCHA could raise up to $8 billion for repairs by selling off-air rights. Previously the city has tried to fund NYCHA's deficit by leasing public housing land to private developers (infill development) which has been politically unsuccessful. Bloom explains that transferring development rights would allow NYCHA to defer these attempts at infill development, preserving some of the city's last open spaces. But this solution does not address the low density of NYCHA superblocks which contain more than 75% open space. Bloom points to recent rezonings, such as East Midtown, that have allowed air rights transfers for commercial development: "It is hard, moreover, to have much empathy for city residents and their elected officials resistant to finding alternative funding sources for NYCHA. It is true that Mayor de Blasio has committed unprecedented local funds to NYCHA, but the City of New York has found much more additional money for generous labor contracts, ferries, new jails, and bike paths, while allowing NYCHA residents to face another winter with very old boilers." Should open space on public housing developments be preserved or developed? Or should the city transfer those development rights for cash? Whatever the solution, it is time for the city to get serious about renovating and preserving the city's public housing stock. #nycha #publichousing #nychagram @nychagram #publicpolicy #urbanplanning #housingpolicy #affordablehousing #infilldevelopment #nychainfill #queensbridgehouses #brooklyn (at Robert Fulton Houses) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5oGUCsnaeb/?igshid=6nmu196buye1

Government Claims that such a move will eradicate black money and will bring transparency to the system. Denied Housing Assistance
Denied Housing Assistance #HousingAssistance #HousingPolicy
In the United States it is hard to build political consensus for any measure. Measures aiding the poor are especially difficult to build a strong coalition behind. As a result, many of the measures that our nation adopts in an attempt to help the poor or address issues for those in need have compromises that make them less effective. This means that sometimes our policies don’t actually end up…
