i spend so much time trying to come up with watsonian reasons and lore for why house of anubis mythology is the way that it is. and then they just add a button on an ancient cup that says "END" in fucking english

I’ve determined the reason why there seems to be a bit of a divide between the Eddie stans and the Jerome stans in the sense of who’s “hotter” or is a “better character” (newsflash they’re both cutie pies and they’re both fantastic characters, but I digress), when on the surface they’re both objectively handsome, white, “bad boy” coded characters with absentee fathers.

The fundamental difference in what attracts certain people to one of these two characters is the what I’m going to call the “grit” factor.

Jerome has grit, has the mean streak, is the true “bad boy.” He might not fit the aesthetic of the traditional bad boy, like Eddie does on the outside with clothes/interests, but Jerome is one. He has a capacity for maliciousness (for lack of a better term) that is unnatural on Eddie.

This isn’t me trying to say Jerome is a malicious or cruel person— far from it. But when Jerome makes a snide remark, there’s charm to it. It feels natural for a nasty slight to come out of his mouth, and it’s roguish and almost endearing. He’s got natural edge.

Eddie, on the other hand, doesn’t have much grit to him at all. He makes plenty of snarky remarks, but it’s always a bit forced, and he rarely means any of it. He has to actively fight his nature to be perceived as a bad boy. He may have the stereotypical interests/aesthetic of one, like his rock and metal music, his clothes, etc., but he lacks the temperament of a true rebel. And when he’s trying to actively be mean, it falls short. Even some of the nastiest things he says (like when he makes the jab about the “next best twin”) end up being a swing and a miss. When Eddie says something with the intent to be unkind, he cringes along with the audience, because it doesn’t sound right coming out of his mouth. He doesn’t have that same grit factor Jerome does.

That doesn’t make him a better person, it just shows us he doesn’t have the same mean streak Jerome does.

They’re similar in appearance and circumstance, but Jerome and Eddie really do attract different audiences. At least in my little armchair psychologist opinion.
