@sofiedekker Event: Reunion Dated: 22nd of March, 2024 Location: The Hathaway/Carrigan Estate, Fulham
As the sun filtered through her new Pierre Frey curtains, illuminating her and Adam's recently renovated bedroom, Cece stirred from her slumber with an air of cinematic grace. A smile spread across her face, as she remembered the plans she had for that day. A long overdue reunion with her favorite vixen. Perhaps calling one her 'favorite' was a tad unfair to the others, as she did love them all. What she meant, though, was… her most trusted vixen. She had after all left her in charge of keeping tabs on Charlene, while she'd spent the last year galavanting around Spain.
Adjusting her silk robe around her old Chicago Bulls shirt, Cece made her way through what she could only believe would be an empty house. The girls with their studies and Adam with his meeting in Southhampton. Yes, today would just be her, Sofie and Happy. Speaking of that dog where was he? A quiet house with a dog only spelled trouble and Cece hadn't seen him since she'd put him to bed at the end of her own last night. Anything, anything but another one of her pashminas!
Well anything but that.
Stepping into her once immaculate kitchen, Cece found her eyes widening in disbelief. There, across the pristine Italian tile work, lay a trail of canine excrement. "HAPPPPPPPPPPYYYYYYYYYYY!" Her nostrils flared in disgsut as the acrid stench assailed her senses. A scent so offensive she was going to call up that Organic Dog Food company she'd recently ordered from and demand a refund.
Grabbing up an entire roll of paper towel, the blonde started triple wrapping her hands as she prepared to lean forward and touch the horror that laid before her. Of course that was when she'd heard the pitter patter of dog paws enter the kitchen from stage left. Turning, she made eyes with the guilty. Her eyes sending him scampering back to God knows where. The farm (again)? She wished.
Tiptoeing around the offending mess, Cece did her best to hold her breath and tackle the current situation with as much strength and resolve as she could muster. She told herself: Sofie would be here any minute, and there was nothing, not even her current predicament that would stop her from entertaining her darling Sofie.
After finishing, spraying, and lighting one of her favourite candles (no, not the ones from Harrods, Ayaz). Cece managed to run back upstairs, disinfect, shower and dress all before the doorbell chimed Sofie's arrival. Sure, she hadn't had time to prepare her sandwiches, but after the assault from earlier, she'd decided today was an Uber Eats kind of day.
"Darling! How do you feel about Sushi and Prosecco?"

Dreams from 11.9.24
Dream 1: I was at someone's house. Someone wealthy. It reminded me of, or maybe it was, the house of a friend from primary school. I think there was party happening. Then I had to walk home. I got up the maps on my phone and followed it. My house was only a few kilometres away. The house was on a deceptively large plot of large, it was just really long and kept going on and on. On my way out of their backyard, I somehow wound up in another part of the house was disconnected from the main house and looked like it was being renovated. It was like random bedroom. Inside was a young girl sleeping. To leave I had to go through this place and I didn't want to disturb the girl but I guess I did anyhow. It looked run down from the outside but was normal on the inside.
I made it out of their property and as I was walking down the road I saw some childhood friends. They wanted to have a catch up session with me but I told them next time. I needed to go. I didn't know the way home despite it being so close. Even though it wasn't far, it had been a bit of maze to get out of that place and I had to follow the directions pretty closely. I was following the blue line on maps. I came across some teenagers who I walked with for a bit. I asked them, which way is Fulham road? (where I live). They pointed to the right of the main road we were currently on. I realised I was almost home. It was just straight and around the corner. I walked on by myself.
Dream 2: I was at work and had on my headphones. I had them on because I was on a call with a customer. Thing is, I couldn't hear anything. A regular customer, NH, was standing in the protein aisle and she had on headphones too. She was looking at me and so I looked at her and we both shook our heads as if to communicate how over everything we are. I still couldn't hear anything so I took the headphones off to try and figure out what the matter was. The earpads came completely off so I guess they were broken? I tried to put them back together and then back on my head, but still nothing. In any case, I was glad that I looked busy to NH and that she looked busy to me (since she had on her headphones too). It meant that I didn't have to get up close and have a fake conversation with her. We still connected from afar so I didn't feel bad at least.
Dream 3: EA was there. I showed her where a vitamin product on was, pointing to it on the shelf. There was silent communication.

Day 2: Exploring London's Neighborhoods
Brunch at Farm Girl in Notting Hill. Our brunch: Ripe Cherry Pancakes and Korean Kimchi Eggs.
Walked along Portobello Road and caught glimpses of the unique antique shops lined up along the road.
Trained over to SoHo area so that Cynthia could meet up with a friend. Meanwhile, while waiting for Cynthia, I roamed around the area and through the cute streets and alleyways until I found myself meandering into Regents Park. A massive park and area of greenery with open fields, gardens, statues, gates, and lots of shaded and unshaded places to sit.
Met up with Cynthia for lunch at a cute Italian restaurant called Circolo Popolare. Super snazzy and cozy inside with shelves of colorful bottles used as decor and hanging lights from the ceiling. For lunch, we shared a Calabrian Flame Pizza (San Marzano tomato, mozzarella fior di latte, spicy spianata, 'nduja and ricotta cream, paprika). Yum!
Walked into SoHo and to the Seven Dials Neighborhood. Met up with Minh and checked out Neal's Yard and Seven Dials Market and some stores and shops along the way.
Strolled through Seven Dials Neighborhood and Trafalgar Square and made our way to the House of MinaLima, a storefront for the design studio best known for its artistic influence on Harry Potter. Cool store with lots of their unique graphics and prints and books.
Walked ALL the way to a church Minh wanted to see on the other side of town that ended up not being the right church. Along the way, we stopped and looked around Covent Garden and its market and shopping mall.
Trained to briefly re-check out the most tourist-y area of town, Westminster, where we finally got to see Big Ben, all renovated and new looking with the scaffolding we saw last time, and Westminster Abbey and the London Eye. Hung out on the green lawn just behind Big Ben for a little, enjoying the views right before sunset.
The final stop of the night was dinner in Fulham. Trained To Fulham to meet up with my cousin Vi for dinner at her favorite local fish and chips restaurant, Fishers. We ordered some Butterfly King Prawns and two white-fish fish and chips plates. So yummy!
5 Things I Learned/Observed Today:
In the summer, spending time outside under the cool shade of a tree in a London public park seems to be the popular thing to do.
One should stand on the right side when not walking or running up or down the escalator to the subways and trains. On the other hand, there is no rhyme or reason to which side people choose to walk on when walking down sidewalks or streets. In crowded areas, it's totally random where people walk so be careful!
MinaLima is the design and graphics studio that helped bring Harry Potter to life. They designed a lot of the popular and iconic graphics associated with the Harry Potter franchise.
Back in the day, the Seven Dials neighborhood played an important role in commercial trade and commerce. There were many markets in this area and at that time, a lot of the buildings were used to store a bunch of imported tropical fruits and vegetables. The building in which Seven Dials Market sits used to house a bunch of bananas. Other storehouses in the area held cucumbers and pineapples among other things. Until this era of imported fruits at the beginning of the 1900s, British people only knew of apples, pears, and homegrown fruits.
London has a rich history and tradition of food markets. There are many many food markets around town. The oldest food market in London is Borough Market, dating back to 1014, and the newest food market is Seven Dials Market.

For most of the past 20 years, Sade has lived out of the spotlight in a remote part of the Cotswolds. Occasional photographs have shown her trudging through the greasy West Country rain, lugging plant tubs from the local garden centre, but her public appearances have been rare and her musical excursions even rarer.
Then in 2010, to the amazement of fans who thought they would be stuck listening to Diamond Life forever, Sade produced Soldier of Love.
Sade is the daughter of an English nurse and a Nigerian college lecturer, Annie and Adebisi Adu, who met in Britain in the early fifties, and later moved to the university town of Ibadan, north of Lagos, where Sade (Helen Folasade Adu) was born. She was their second child after their son Banji.
The marriage, though, broke up when she was four and Anne and her daughter moved back to Britain. They settled in her grandmother's house in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, a deathless destination even by the standards of post-war English holiday resorts.
She headed to school in London in the vague hope of becoming a model. Instead, she was roped into a band by fashion college friends, and in 1983 recorded her first single, "Your Love is King," followed by the blockbuster album Diamond Life. Then she went quiet. The records started coming more slowly. No one knows completely why, but a series of failed relationships is cited as a reason.
She fell madly in love with Spike Denton, a struggling nightclub owner and fringe fashion type, for whom she was reported to have tried to buy Fulham FC as a love token. But her newfound wealth drove a wedge between them, and the romance collapsed.
Complained Denton:
"It's a nightmare for men like me when we fall in love with a rich and famous woman."
In 1989 she married Carlos Pliego, a Spanish film-maker. She moved to Madrid to be with him, but the union lasted only three years.
In the music business, there were charges that she was "difficult" and not really interested in working, charges that Sade has always denied.
Her former boyfriend, British radio presenter Robert Elms, says of her, "She never wanted to be famous, just to write and sing good songs. She finds celebrity very vulgar."
She now lives with Ian Watts, a former Royal Marine and fireman-turned-scientist, in a newly renovated pile near Stroud, which is shared with her 15 year old daughter Ila, from a relationship with Jamaican record producer Bob Morgan (she moved briefly to the Caribbean to live with Morgan in the late nineties before they separated) and Watts's 20 year old son, Jack.

Studdridge Tiny Courtyard in Parsons Green

Studdridge Tiny Courtyard, London
Construction was due to start on the Studdridge Tiny Courtyard in Parsons Green, London with designs from another architect. The plans were to extend in the basement, at the rear as well as the roof of this Victorian terraced house, however the client was not totally happy with the plans and so approached Unagru Architecture Urbanism to overlook the design aspects of the project.
They say this is not how they normally like to work, but they did reviews the information and proposed a number of alternative design concepts, that were compatible with the structural constraints.
Unagru Architecture Urbanism helped the client understand the spatial, logistic and economic implications of the different proposals. They finally followed the whole detailing and construction process with the clients.
The ground floor was made more fluid, complex and bright through the introduction of two steps between the front and rear areas, and the opening of a small courtyard to light the spine wall area.
The side return extension area was treated as a much more contemporary part of the composition, with flush edges and stone finishes. The basement, with a guest bedroom, utility and storage facilities as well as media and playroom, was detailed a non-compromising contemporary space. A wide opening towards the garden provided ample lighting.
The staircase to the basement has been designed as a piece of joinery, connected with the storage under the stairs and the basement structure through a full height timber railing.

5 London Football Stadiums Every Football Fan Should Visit
Football is the UK’s national sport which means there’s a football stadium in almost every town and city across the country. London is home to some of the biggest and best football clubs in the world which are recognised all around the globe. Therefore, London football stadiums are also some of the biggest and best. They range from historic time capsules that capture where the sport has come from, right thought to billion-pound projects leading the way in sports ground innovation. If you’re a Premier League fan or a tourist visiting the nation’s capital, the five London football stadiums listed below are worth a visit. The best way to experience them would be to get yourself a ticket to a match and see them full of people. The noise of passionate football fans brings the crafted lumps of concrete and steel to life.
The Emirates
The Emirates is home to Arsenal Football Club, who moved to the new stadium from their home of 93 years, Highbury Stadium, in 2006. The Emirates is a stone’s throw away from the old ground, only a half-mile walk and even less as the crow flies. The reason for the move was financial as the increased capacity allowed for more ticket sales. It was a success because fans flocked to the stadium and it was sold out for every home game of the opening season.
As a fan, spectator or tourist the Emirates is one of the finest football stadiums with spectacular engineering and finishing touches. The mixture of glass and steel used throughout the construction results in the stadium sparkling in the sunlight and glowing at night. The roof is shaped like a bowl with striking white supporting steel frames that can be seen from inside the stadium.
In 2009 after listening to the fans, the club began ‘Arsenalising’ the stadium to make it feel like some of the history of the club could be felt as you walked around The Emirates. A pattern of white seats was installed in the shape of the trademark cannon. There is also a mural that depicts every Arsenal player to have put on a club shirt which can be found at the south end of the stadium. Finally, you will see the backs of 32 Arsenal legends linking arms surrounding the stadium.
Stamford Bridge
Now we’re moving from the glistening new Emirates Stadium to the historic Stamford Bridge which first opened in 1877. So, this London football stadium has been around longer than the light bulb! It started as the home to the London Athletics Club until the Smears brothers bought it and founded Chelsea Football Club to rival close-by Fulham FC. It had an official capacity of 100,000 in the early days with two 5000 seater stands on each side of the pitch. The stadium went through various construction phases and a series of modernisation projects during the ’90s. Today it has a capacity of 41,837 making it the 5th largest stadium in London.
A packed Stamford Bridge in the 1930s The stadium has four stands (The Mathew Harding Stand, East Stand, Shed End and West Stand). Stamford Bridge also has a hotel, a museum, and a merchandise megastore. Chelsea has a £1 billion redevelopment project in the pipeline that would modernise the stadium further and increase the capacity from 40 to 60,000. However, they are having problems with getting planning permission. As it stands the stadium looks like a classic English Premier League stadium with four stands surrounding the pitch and a combination of corrugated and pipe steel roofs. A visit to this stadium is more for the history than the aesthetics but it’s one that should still be on your list.
The London Stadium
We go from old to new this time to The London Stadium which is home to West Ham United or ‘The Hammers’. It’s the 5th stadium that the club has called their home since they formed as Thames Ironworks FC in 1895. The Hammer’s true home stadium will always be Boleyn Ground in Upton Park which was the football club’s home ground for over a century. However, since moving to The London Stadium, Boleyn Ground has been demolished to make room for a housing development. So, West Ham fans will have to get used to their new home. The London Stadium was originally built for the 2012 London Olympics. Construction began in 2008 and finished in 2011 before opening on 6th May 2012. It cost £486 million to get it ready for the Olympics and a further £274 million in renovations post-Olympics. There were several world records set in this stadium including David Rudisha’s 800m world record, two relay world records and Usain Bolt’s Olympic record which was the second-fastest 100m ever to be run.
Once the Olympics was over, the Stadium needed some new tenants. It made sense for West Ham (an East London football club) to move in and make it their own. When set up for football, the stadium has a maximum capacity of 60,000 which goes up to 80,000 when it’s set up for a music concert. The best way to see The London Stadium is on a match day. If you could catch The Hammers play against one of their Premier League London rivals like Tottenham or Chelsea, you’ll experience an atmosphere like no other. If you prefer to get behind the scenes there are also a bunch of guided tours that you can do, some of which end with a Q&A with West Ham legends.
Craven Cottage
You might be able to spot a theme here but we’re taking a step back from the brand new London Stadium into a piece of football history. Fulham FC has been playing at Craven Cottage since their first match in 1896. The 10th of October this year will be the club’s 125th anniversary at Craven Cottage. So, this stadium has seen a lot of matches including several matches during the 1948 London Olympics which was the first Olympics held after World War II.
Craven Cottage is named after the royal hunting lodge built by Lord Craven in 1780 that used to stand where the centre circle is right now. The ground does have a picturesque cottage within the stadium which was part of the original build that cost £15,000. The ground was originally made up of terracing built out of materials salvaged from Shephard’s Bush underground station. The stadium has been through many renovations since then, with the latest riverside development set to provide more than just football and aims to attract visitors from all over London. There will even be a way for fans to arrive at the stadium by boat. Talk about arriving in style to a game!
So, if you’re a tourist wanting to visit the best London football stadiums, Craven Cottage has to be on the list. You will get the perfect blend of historical significance and a world-class modern attraction with all the nice-to-haves.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Finally, we’re heading to London’s newest football stadium development, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which is home to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Spurs use to play at White Hart Lane. The team played 2,533 games across 118 years before moving into their swanky new home. The new stadium costs more than £1.2 billion to build and took over a decade to complete from the initial idea to the final build. It will be used for Premier League matches, concerts and NFL games when the league comes to London.
It’s been designed to create the best live experience possible with uninterrupted sightlines, close proximity to the pitch and steep stands that amplify the noise from the fans. Former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho stated: "I think you are too humble when you say, 'beautiful stadium', too humble. You have to say the best stadium in the world. That's the reality."
From the stands to food courts and from the hospitality suites to the in-ground bars, everything is impressive. It’s a one of a kind stadium that is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible within the stadium construction industry. The first time you experience it, you’ll be in awe and you might even get goosebumps. It’s so good that I suspect Spurs will be gaining a few more fans this year just so they can call it their home ground!
Final Thoughts On London Football Stadiums Every Football Fan Should Visit
As you can see there are a lot of London football stadiums with an impressive history and stunning construction, and we haven’t even talked about Wembley in this list! If you have the time, try and get yourself a match ticket to the stadium you most want to visit. This way, you can see it how it was intended to be seen. If you’re a football fanatic, then booking on to the guided tours that all of these stadiums offer will be a great way to get behind the scenes and see parts of the stadium that you’d never see on game day. Trouble-Free Route For House Renovations
Quite often when we walk through someone's house, we tend to observe various things about it and then develop a perception about the person's standard of living and of course his financial stability. A well-structured and decorated house not only flaunts your taste and designing skills but also transfers positive vibes to those living in the house along with those who visit the house. House renovations are as important for a house as changing clothes is for us, though we change clothes daily and the house needs a renovation yearly or once in two years.
Since replacing doors and windows isn't really very expensive, it is ideal to change the doors yearly. Along with upgrading your home and presenting it with an entirely new look, it will help optimize your objective of reducing heat loss, heat gain, air leakage, and condensation.
While renovating homes, most people neglect roof insulation. They do not realize that as the heat rises, it works its way out through the roof. Roof insulation can prevent this, thus affecting the overall insulation of the house. Basement insulation is another important point to be kept in mind while renovating the house. Insulating the basement ceiling can prevent cold floors upstairs.
Storage cabinets are really helpful while reorganizing as these avoid clutters around the house. This will not only organize the house but also keep it clean and prevent you from being encumbered by household chores.
Lastly, when you pen down the list of renovation ideas for your home, keep in mind the necessity of each and the price tag attached to it along with assessing your budget. Matmar is a Construction Company that Provides Complete Services of House Renovation in Fulham and Ealing.
